This is it. The thing was a massive, fever-spreading, nightmare-inducing insect queen. The teams quickly coordinated to take it down, rescuing the others, and prepping the weapons. As for Moonsong, she had to take a breather. There's no turning back now.

After she finally hardened her resolve, the intimidating girl jumped into the fray with her fellow adventurers, hoping to take it down before it can claim casualties. Few had already rushed in, notably the resident table-breaker @Zelrius who was already up and personal with the insect mother, burning the face with a fiery devastating attack. "Tch, that's too reckless." She commented, but he was far out of her reach.

Moonsong glides on her greatsword with the rest of the attackers when she spotted @Fiora Di Angelo in the crowd, putting herself in a risky position trying to bring the Kurungaar Mother off-balance. She quickly sends two blades to spin around her with the intention to deflect attacks from the legs and add some damage. As the blade cracked upon contact with the insect leg, Moonsong felt pain in her head. The cost of maintaining multiple weapons was a bit too much. Maybe it's better to drive the attacks towards myself, I'm not sure many of them could withstand it as much as I can. She slowly floats above to make herself easily seen.

"Bitch!" Moonsong shouted towards the Kurungaar Mother, her voice booming through the battlefield amplified by her magic. "How about you fight someone your own size?" She then began to recite lyrics as stars formed around her.

Taunting (taunt)

When the harsh wind blows
Stop walking
To the faintest sound
Where everyone can hear
No one's here
I'll find another way
Let's stop wandering for a while

Tonight, here
I want to look at today

Reciting the first verse, a colossal sword began to slowly materialize as the stars joined and converged into one, sparkling and shining. Moonsong continued to sing one of her favorite songs that could be heard across the field, with new stars continually being born one by one.

Tomorrow's sun will rise again
This night will pass
Look at that sky over there
(There's something glows)

This starry night
It shines on the path we've been walking on
It's calm but it's definitely shining bright
Like the times we spent together

You're my star-li-light
You're my star-li-light
'Cause you're my star-li-light
Always by your side
You're my starlight

I was just looking ahead
The scenery that you couldn't see around it
It's only now in the footprints
I see a lot of things
It hurt me
Even the big and small pain like this

It's now a precious memory

Tomorrow's sun will rise again
This night will pass
Don't be impatient
(Look over there)

This starry night
It shines on the path we've been walking on
It's calm but it's definitely shining bright
Like the times we spent together

You're my star-li-light
You're my star-li-light
'Cause you're my star-li-light
Always by your side
You're my starlight

No need to be bright like the sunshine
You shine even without the moonlight
Tell me now
Even if everything changes
We'll be together forever
You're already warm like the sunshine
You shine even without the moonlight

From the first step in the beginning
Till forever

I am blinded (Yeah-eh-hey, ooh-woah)
Even when darkness darker than pitch black comes (Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh)
I'll always be here (Here), I'll be there (Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh)
Like the stars in the sky (Ooh, oh, woah)

While blocking attacks, she finished the song. The shining massive sword was finished and ready. With a performance that noisy, the Kurungaar Mother's attention should be fixed on her. Especially with the massive weapon that the insect queen will probably perceive as a major threat; the sword that Moonsong cannot even swing due to the energy it will cost. It will serve as the best distraction. Either that, or her performance will.

Tyr's legs were numb at this point, his mind still weary from prior. He had immediately been thrust into the challenge of conquering a best just days after his entry into this world. Jae was elated, but in this space and after such a long day within the damned mushroom, it was hard to convey that through the exhaustion his mind felt.

The terrain melted the closer they got to the epicenter of the boss' blight, the fauna more scarce near the lip of a crater in the distance. Everything almost felt diseased, and Jae put effort into restraining himself from spouting some banter while the grim faces of the other players and the NPCs surrounded him.

Cresting the ledge, immediately the Magia affliction took effect—

"The insectoid is under extreme duress from an anomaly. The body houses various other lifeforms; identities unconfirmed. Insectoid's tarsus and tibia are highly compromised, further damage inflicted to this area has a high probability of staggering the opponent."

Tyr chimed aloud in a calculating and robotic tone, enough for @Wolfe to hear a few paces away. He shook off the quirk, still perturbed by how its affect seemed to penetrate the extent of the game itself.

Aimin' for the legs, follow me up?

He said in his normal, cocky tone.

With that addressed, Tyr began his slide through the charred dirt of the crater, his posture effortless as he sought to find himself in a perfect vantage point. Halfway down, he took roost, his arm bursting several pieces held together by a visible, golden, magnetic energy reforming into that of a large canon, adapted for long range combat. However, just before he could fire off, the enemy's head burst into a massive wave of energy, dislodging the dirt beneath his feat, and sending him tumbling forward just as his blast went off.

A glancing blow ricocheted off the damaged chitin of the monster's legs, destabilizing it a little, but not nearly enough. He skipped down further and further, closing the distance between his original roost and the thrashing legs, his own body exposed for further damage due to his failed sniper's perch.

Whatever this big insect thing was, it was disgusting and had only gotten worse when it had eaten of the demon's flesh. There was no way that this thing was going to be left alive, though picking where she would be most effective would be the biggest point for Cleo. She had the range to be able to snipe at the thing's head and face, but she also had the capability to do something about its legs alongside Levi and Misha. It took a moment to process, but after she did, she grabbed @Vina Skysong by the hand and made a rush for the legs.

Come on! I'm going to slow that thing down! Please stick close to me so I can keep an eye on you!

She didn't want the healer being caught off guard by herself, so she figured she would keep the fox girl with her, so that they at least could keep an eye on each other and retreat together in case things went really badly.

As she moved, her hair and eyes began to flicker with crimson arcane energy, the shade lightening to a magenta as she moved, seemingly changing the color of her hair as well. Her clothes, the bodysuit she wore, began to shift and weave, becoming looser on her body and flaring out as more of a dress.

A surge of energy lifted her feet off of the ground, before a veritable wall of spears manifested behind her, radiating crimson energy like an aura of malice as she aimed the tips at the monster's legs. And then, with a flick of her wrist, they launched.

Crimson spears landed like a carpet bombing run, sinking into the creature's flesh and the ground all around it, each individual spear lashing out with raw arcane energy. From there, Cleo raised both hands, focusing on her connection to each spear, clasping her hands together. From each spear, arcane chains would manifest, wrapping around the different legs, before connecting to other spears.

Red Fever (6)
Red Fever effects temporarily nullified
-35 HP from retaliation, targeting legs; vulnerable status, but protected by @Magdalyn

By the time Madison pulled herself up to her feet and dusted the dirt and grime off her vest and pants, all she saw before her was a chore.

Left behind by the others who rushed forth into certain destruction to rescue those that had been taken, the gunslinger had no choice but to gaze upon the massive mutated insect thing and sigh. Her chance at snatching a crumb of Big Damn Heroism off the floor swept away by the proverbial broom of the monstrosity's arrival, being knocked on her ass, and just plain old shitty timing; all that was left to do was work.

Work, work, work, work, work.

Holstering her revolvers, Madison maneuvered herself around to the legs of the massive creature. Doing her best to dodge and leap out of the way of all the shit coming at her (and failing, because holy shit do the dice hate her), she found a decent spot that provided a clear view to its legs.

Aim for the joints, little raven. Disable its legs, and perhaps everyone can walk away from this without further injury or death.

Along the way to the final battle, Mizuki halted a couple of times to admire the scenery, the variety of strange and exotic things that were buried deep within the depths of Tangleweaves. Some of the sights they encountered looked like they'd been left to nature for millennia, with even the bravest of explorers keeping a wide berth to avoid disturbing that which should be left alone. It was possible that the very thing this expedition was now aiming for fell within this category, but it was too late to back down now. They were in too deep, and Mizuki wasn't going to be known as the huntress who bailed at the very last moment because she got weak knees.

Her wolves accompanied her every step of the way, although they became increasingly agitated as they got closer to the source of the madness. To ensure that her packmates didn't go insane from the Red Fever Mizuki had gotten the MIT to give them a dose of Serene Mist as well, which at least kept them from acting out. Some nonverbal communication also helped them remain calm, although Mizuki could tell that they could feel the same ominous sensation as she did.

What was up ahead was going to be challenging, possibly lethal.

The sight of the demon was macabre and awe-inspiring, but the broodmother and her swarm were more disturbing than anything else. That feeling changed to disgust when the Kurungaar Mother ate part of the demon and partially exploded as a result, only to then turn into a vile, warped version of her former self. And on her back were multiple people that Mizuki recognized even from this distance, such as @Seigi Ling Ling and @Gwyn ap Herne. It looked like some of the most experienced players had been with the Explorers, and still, they had been captured.

It was a good thing that this time they had an army on their side then.

Leaving the rescuing to others more suitable for the task Mizuki first swatted some of the fever flies out of the air, her wolves growling as they snapped their fangs in an attempt to keep the little nuisances at bay. They ripped into flesh with mandibles that were much sharper and stronger than they had any right to be. She would have liked to strike directly at the head, but she was neither fast enough nor had she the range for it. Instead, she was forced to watch @Zelrius blitz the head like he always did, the felis reckless as if his legacy depended on it.

If she'd still been afflicted with the Red Fever she'd have attacked without a second thought, but with her head cooled down, Mizuki crouched low and placed her hands against the ground. The skin on her hands shifted, becoming brown and craggy as they developed a texture similar to the bark of the trees that surrounded the crater in which the battle was fought. Her fingers dug into the dirt, extending further and further until she felt the roots of the Tangleweaves. The jungle wasn't happy with the presence of the demon, and now that the Kurungaar Mother had been tainted by its flesh she had fallen out of grace as well.

Ignoring the stinging sensation of the fever flies greedily tearing through her skin and flesh Mizuki focused her mismatched eyes on the target. Power coursed through her and into the ground, into the roots that supported the ground they were standing on. A soft rumbling followed, then a louder rumbling, the ground shaking before rupturing as large roots sprouted from the crater's steep sides. While @Janet Reilly wrapped her vines around the broodmother's legs in an attempt to bind them together Mizuki's roots wrapped themselves around every part of the demonic insect they could find, their grip tightening and tightening and attempting to pull the massive beast flush against the ground.

Red Fever (6)
Red Fever effects temporarily nullified
-18 HP from Legs retal (Protected by @Chrys)

"Kamala..."

She turned to Chrys at the stark realization that their friend was gone. Her friend. The first person she met in this game, befriended, maybe even the only person she had built a bond with. And now she's gone. Gritting her teeth, Ayna stomped towards the man who talked them both into joining this massacre, pushing him aside as hard as she could.

"This is on you, Chrys! We should have NEVER come here!"

Channeling all her rage and despair, she ran to where everyone was, to where their adversary would be, arriving as fast as a flash of lightning could. She needed to take everything out on someone, something, and the biggest, baddest thing out here would do just fine. Scowling, she charged Calamity's Light with her lightning magic, but as soon as she was done, a supernatural force knocked her down. Ayna screamed as she pushed herself up, perhaps for the final time.

"This is for Kamala, you ugly motherfucker!"

Ayna gathered all the momentum she could, and sparks of lightning started to surround her body.

❰ Shifting Expanse ❱

She dashed towards the creature's legs, ducking a wild attempt to almost behead her, and stabbed it as many times as she could, as fast as she could, all while screaming. This was not how things should have gone. Kamala should have been with them, cheering them on. But she wasn't, and Ayna didn't even know where her body was and if it was still even around. Die, you disgusting insect!

❰ Manifestation of the General ❱

Moving back to dodge more wild movements from the monster, Ayna tried to find its weak point, wanting to focus her attack on it. When she did, or at least when she thought she found the creature's weak point, she used her dynamic speed to lunge forward, aiming the blade of Calamity's Light straight at the damned thing, screaming the loudest she ever had in this game.

"Give me back my friend! GIVE! HER! BACK!"

In an instant the field had erupted into chaos. The monster was massive. Before he could even reach for his shield, some kind of energy blast had sent Creature skipping across the ground on his back. He managed to roll over backwards to an all-fours position and wipe the dust from his eyes, but when he looked it seemed that the once unified raid team had all gone off in different directions. As soon as the man got back to his feet he ran to join the first people he could see.

A small sect of the group had taken to trying to destroy Kurungaar Mother’s legs. As he neared one of the legs was descending and shook the ground as he managed to avoid getting squished with his hyper sense. With an opening now present, Creature packed as much strength as he could into a barrage of bashing with the edge of his shield on the appendage.

Interjection!

The sound of chaotic buzzing filled the air as several of the rescuers were on a mad rush to climb onto the insectoid broodmother, during which a few of the poor saps met their unfortunate end by either being crushed under the mother’s shifting weight, or being swatted by a bug arm or two.

Kiryuu pulled through the swarms of Fever Fliers, putting all his energy into keeping his special chain going as it was the lifeline of the group in this perilous situation. The chain kept the rescuers from falling off and directed some of the incoming damage onto himself. The further the group went, the more wear-and-tear the hatted whistle became. He just grinded his teeth on the sword still stuck in his mouth and endured all of it.

Hey-hey! @Bradwynne @Hanno Futaba @Nai @Bonnie Bonbon ! Don’t slow down now, you’ve got this. We’re gonna get to the top of this insect, rescue our people, and kick some bug’s ass. If you slip, my chain’s got you. LET’S GO!

Through efficient teamwork and sheer tenacity, the rescue group eventually made it to the top of the Kurungaar Mother, fighting off a swarm of angry Fever Fliers. There, the group saw the trapped explorers inside the large insectoid fold.

With his bayonet drawn and the spectral chains still attached to his group, Kiryuu jumped into the opening and sliced the Fliers apart to get to the trapped victims alongside the other rescuers.

ARLYN!

Kiryuu immediately started to tear up after seeing the shoutfox.

GODDAMMIT! I’M SO GLAD YOU’RE ALIVE!

That’s a face I thought I wasn’t gunna see again! Glad you’re still kickin’, chain-boy! ( she grinned at Kiryuu, thanking him for his help)

I’m gonna take all the super hurt people out of here. Are you not coming?

Sure am! I’m in the mood for some ROASTED BUGS! ( as soon as the effect of the mist kicked in, the fox woman burst in flames, activating her battle spirits.)

(He sighed) I won’t be fighting alongside you this time, so try not to get killed, alright foxy?

Arlyn gave him a thumbs up in response as they made their separate ways. The flare of her burning presence dimmed, however, as she noticed the mutated and bloated state @Shane found herself in. Burning the bugs on her way as she rushed towards the woman, Arlyn crouched near the Traveler. Whistle or not, she wasn’t about to ignore someone looking like that.

What in the bloody- (she gritted her teeth, internally cursing the bugs and everything in this hell hole.)

Hey, hey! Stay with me alright? We’re gunna get you outta this! Pull through, you can do this!

Should Shane decide to stay, Arlyn wasn’t going to push it. After all, everyone was free to choose their path. Regardless of her choice, the beastfolk’s ears drooped as her sharp eyes found what was left of @Kamala Graham. Arlyn gently pulled the explorer’s whistle, storing it away and gritting her sharp teeth.

WHISTLE.

Meanwhile, Kiryuu turned to the rest of the group.

Alright! Super hurt people, get on my back! I made a promise with myself that I’m gonna to get you out so that’s what you’re gonna do! If you want to stay and fight, good luck to you. No matter how bleak the situation appears right now, we’ll meet again!

Maddess.

Everyone explodes onto the field with the fury of raging bulls and Asher is momentarily taken aback by the electricity in the air. He understood that there were people in danger, that there were friends and possibly loved ones missing, but the size of their enemy was massive and the flies that continued to buzz around, pecking and picking at people left some screaming and running away. From the corner of his eye, he saw a few of the Starcalled disappearing entirely.

Logging out to save themselves, he'd reckon. And he didn't blame them. The entire battlefield was an open grave waiting for the bodies of the reckless to pile in and be piled high. If they didn't surmount this threat, they were done for.

So, he swallows his nerves and steels himself. He was in danger, but so was everyone else, and he had to do what he could to minimize the fallout.

Asher charges forward, his white hair streaked with red, a battle cry on his lips that is swallowed up by the buzzing and screaming and crying of those around him. He doesn't have the ability to attack the face of this behemoth, but the legs seem doable even as one crashes down next to him and slices a nice gash through his arm. Warm blood spills out over his flesh, but he grits his teeth and ignores it, curls his fingers into fists, and pummels that same leg that tagged him.

Sean had a hard time deciding whether or not he should risk his life, but he decided to take the chance. Determined to make a difference, he mentally prepared for the battle. I can do this. Look at how many allies I have. We must succeed.

Grabbing tightly to the hilt of his blade, Sean rushed into action.

I'm moving in, cover me!

He weaved around the battle around him as he rushed to the legs, seeing an opportunity to hopefully stagger the enemy. Running through active combat isn't the safest choice, getting him hurt in the process, but it let him reach the legs with a decent amount of momentum. As he arrived at his target, he lunged at it, attempting to get his sword lodged into the leg of the beast.

Triss's body leans toward @Hayate as they both watch @Zelrius leading the pack into the fight against this massive...ant. She shudders as her attention darts over it, her lips pressing tightly together, hands resting on her hips. She didn't have a phobia of bugs—how could she, living in the bayou as she did, but that didn't make the appearance of this thing any better. And this was supposedly the cause of the entire breakdown at the lab?

Why? How had it gotten here?

Surely, someone had to know something about where it came from, how long it had been here. A hand lifts from her side to scratch her scalp and she huffs out a frustrated sigh at the prickling that dances over her skin. The not knowing was irritating, almost as much as the flies she kept trying—and failing—to fend off. Well, at least she wasn't a sobbing, crying, angry mess anymore.

"Alright Hayate." Slapping her hands together, she cracks her knuckles and exhales a small breath. Nervousness swims through her bloodstream and the copper tang in the air draws her focus like a bloodhound. She can't give into it and, instead, her awareness shifts through all the muted sparks that attempt to disappear after the flies have been swatted and slain.

No, they could still be used.

"It be beautiful in a really fucked up way."

The emerald of her eyes fades until they are overtaken by white and with a wave of her hand, those spark of light, those fragments of lost souls, draw toward her, pop, and break only to reform into something she can use, she can manipulate. And then they fly out from her as small black birds, one landing on @Hayate's shoulder, another finding @Madison Freebird's figure, and the last alighting upon @Harlow. In unison, they caw and explode, showering Trissayne's teammates with borrowed power.

She felt awkward just standing in the back. In the past, she would have used nature magic to grapple the legs of the ferocious beast, but something told her that wasn't going to work this time around. Looking around, she noticed a familiar face- one that looked ready to rush in for an attack.

What was his name? She had to remember it first. It was, um... "@Zelrius hold on a second!"

Running to the front of the rearguard, she began to sing a gentle melody. With it, vines began to wrap around the man, soon disintegrating into energy. The energy slowly infused itself into his body, until the short and sweet song finished leaving her lips.

"You got this! I believe in you!" She gave a thumbs up, smiling at the taller fellow with a toothy grin. "We're counting on you, friend! Let's win this battle for sure, okay?! I'll owe you a drink when we win!"

Kaminari gripped her hat tightly, creases forming underneath her fingers. This game was fucking disgusting. Giant bugs, and corpses, and blood, and all these people with emotional problems. It was honestly disturbing. Where was the warning about this sort of thing when she had downloaded the game? She wasn't here for some crazy battle with a headless insect queen thing. Heck, most of her adventures up to this point consisted of fishing with a short cat person.

Maybe she should have known it would end up like this just by the frequency of the bear attacks in the Falderen. This whole expedition had been nothing short of a nightmare. In the real world the timid and shy woman would have found a corner to curl up in and hide, but here in this alter ego of hers she had found more than a little confidence. And that confidence was telling her the project that annoyance and frustration outwards, instead of bottling it up inside.

Hell, there was literally a punching bag in front of her. She just needed to not get crushed on the way in. It was truly one of those moments where she had to just say 'fuck it' and just start moving. If she thought about it she would just psyche herself into being deadweight. Her arms twitched, sparks flying out from the cracks in her joints. Bracing herself, she raised her arms, fingers transforming into pure lightning and arching into one of the creatures many legs.

Red Fever (6)
Vulnerable Protected by @Harlow
-70 -35 from Legs Retaliation

It's almost time to go. The expedition rallies, ready to march against a distant horror. To rescue those trapped within the bowels of a maddened beast. To risk life and limb and possibly more in pursuit of... what? Gold? Glory? Revenge?

It's not worth it, Ash thinks to himself, as he helps load Serenity Mist onto wagons set to carry it north. There are familiar faces there from his time with the MIT, people he worked with and occasionally against as the Red Fever ravaged their minds and their patience. He can't deny the little spark of pride in his chest when he thinks about it, that thought of we made this that makes him be a little more careful with the containers.

It's not your world, he thinks, trying to ignore the muttering at the edge of his awareness. The ghosts of this place have caught his scent at last - those poor souls that died at each others hands. They're finally free of the Fever's grip, but their regret and fury remains. And perhaps it's the lingering effects of the Fever, but that desire to seek retribution begins to worm its way into his thoughts.

Aisling knows this feeling. The feeling of being trapped in her head, knowing what she should do but being unable to make the rest of her listen. She knows she should log out, she should walk away from all this. It might as well be suicide.

Instead, Ash skims through his menu, taking the brief respite to adjust his loadout and confirm his equipment. He mumbles back to the spirits sipping at his EN in return for the ability to affect the living world once more. He nods to the others, and tries to make sure they know that if he dies, he doesn't want to be brought back up - he's already at one death, and he doesn't want to take the risk.

I should probably bring something sturdier than a jacket, Ash decides, and makes for the armory.

And now he's here.

The psychic wave of the erupting broodmother staggers him, but he picks himself up - or is he picked up? He's not sure, but in the end it doesn't matter. He watches a group break away to dive into the broodmother, and he isn't surprised to see @Hanno Futaba leading that charge. "Don't die!" he calls, as he turns his attention to the creature's legs. Something about the square cube law and giant insects briefly flits through his mind, but it gets left behind as he follows the Lions into the fray.

And as he rushes in, he isn't alone. There's a cold rush around @Asher, @Moonsong, @Hayate, and @Omega Redux as spirits peel away from the shroud surrounding him. A susurration of whispers wreathes them, words of warning and encouragement and defiance against the creature that brought the Red Fever to their doorstep.

Ash for better or worse, knows bugs. An insect this big needs a thick carapace, but has to have weak spots by design, or else it couldn't walk. "Go for the joints!" He shouts, "we can crack this like a crab!" He ignores the massive forelimbs - there's probably someone with the reach to hit the weak points, or anime enough to just slice through carapace like butter. No, his focus is the joints of the smaller legs, where he plunges his sword through the rubbery chitin. Ichor sprays in his face from the wound, blinding and burning him, but he doesn't need sight to twist the blade, ripping apart the flesh below the surface.

Watching their mutual blonde friend, rocket himself at the face of the creature he could only shake his head. I think there was an old movie? Where they shouted, "Witness me!" or something. He's been like that the entire time. Honestly the whole thing kind of scared him a bit, as this was completely out of his comfort zone. He wouldn't have come at all if his friends weren't here, and his eternal desire to not disappoint those close to him overpowered his fear. With a shaky hand he'd light a cigarette and this time Triss surely couldn't fault him or make fun of him for it. Just hopefully she wouldn't tell @Juniper. It probably wasn't the same as smoking in real life, but he wouldn't know. Hell he didn't even know what they put in it, just praying the motions helped calm him as he had seen people claim it did, or how it was in the movies.

Yet sadly? They offered no respite from the twisting in his stomach or from his breath catching in his lungs. He could really use a hit of that joy from the red fever again. "Do you think, that is the source of all of this? What even is that." he'd ask @Trissayne Lavelle as they surveyed the scene. She always was more knowledgeable about these sort of things than he was.

But instead of an answer he is given a reply that was one sort of in another way. They had one simple job. Kill it and find out after. Easy enough, he'd tell himself. Taking a deep breath and steadying himself he'd ready his bow as the bird thing landed on his shoulder strengthening his body and mind. Offering the support that he needed to help calm himself down that the faux cigarette couldn't. Finding the target he wanted, he had to help buy time for the rest of the important and strong people to do their thing. To rescue those held captive and prepare for the worst to come. And the best way to do that? Aim for the legs, hinder its movement and lock it down.

Unknowingly he did as what one of the nearby combatant's ordered. He had been noticed by another, as the spirits enveloped him in a barrier like protection against the smaller flying insects that bit and stung at him as he focused on the big one. A few positive whispers fought the doubt he normally held within. For now keeping his spirits up.

"Alright." he'd softly reply as he let loose a charged shot, after flicking the hourglass at his belt. The sand slowing down the time of the arrow and all that it would come into contact with as it pierced into and jammed into the joint of the beast's leg. And with that? He'd flip the hourglass connected to the chain around his neck. This time, time would be focused instead on himself. He REALLY hated using this one as the rebound and recoil from speeding himself up always sucked in the worst of ways. But what was a little pain in the face of death. A steady stream of arrows was loosed by the archer, pummeling into the same spot on the legs that he had slowed and weakened. Opening up an opportunity for himself and hopefully others to damage the damned thing.

The moment the party moves, Bluebird is off.

She doesn't need to wait for guides or markers - not when she has the wind at her call, carrying her above the canopy. Nevermind the numbness in her throat, the twigs and leaves scratching her skin and talons as she makes leap after leap, taking her closer to the great and terrible beast on the horizon.

They'll meet again. She promised. She promised.

The beast bursts, magic like a silent scream crashing over the group. Bluebird folds her wings, but it doesn't knock her to the ground like some of the others. Part of her wants to scream back at it over the chaos, but she has to save her voice for what's important.

The wind whistles with her as it carries her upwards, past the climbing @Bonnie Bonbon, past the chain @Nai nails into the carapace. It takes everything for her to wait for the others instead of charging ahead. Past the buzzing, past the roar, she can hear the song of pain and struggle, the weak and trailing voice of hearts standing against the inevitable.

And for that, she is glad, because that she can divine anything at all means that somewhere, deep within the beast, they are alive.

"They're here... @Ru Ning, they're still here!" Joy and desperation both color her voice as she speaks. "I can hear them... we have to hurry!"

It is perhaps fortunate that there are cooler heads here, those more experienced with this world staving off as many of the bugs they can. But the moment she can see the familiar shapes of the others caught within the body of the beast, she can no longer be patient. She flies until she finds them, @Crimson Ruby and @Sol and everyone else, entrapped and surrounded... but alive.

She nearly collapses from relief.

"I'm here," she says, as the others move forward to pull them free. "I came, I'm here..." But words alone aren't going to help them. She could tear her own claws in past the bugs, but it's better to let the skilled handle that work. Instead, she puts her voice to song - no words, not even much of a melody. Just a lilting tone, sliding up and down as she weaves her magic. Something to ease the wounds and souls of those who have been trapped in this hell.

You're safe, she puts into her song, those emotional cues she has grown so used to placing within them, something to focus on other than the ones churning in her soul. We're here for you. We're leaving together.

You're not alone.

As Omega - no - the entire army was marching through the jungle to beat up a gigantic colony, commit genocide, and also save a bunch of friends (which she likely knew none of), the self-proclaimed Final Boss felt pretty good! After all, each non-her-boss defeated was another stepping stone to becoming the biggest and badest Final Boss herself!

Though, for the time being, Omega was simply taking a back seat. Letting others follow the markers to tag along with these two weirdos @Cynna and @Regan. "Omega doesn't know why her first battles have to be against gross things! But Omega bets it'll just make it so much more satisfying to crush them! She hopes..."

The scenery in front of her, however, was anything but what she was expecting. It was... "Wow! This is actually SUPER awesome looking! It's just like a cutscene from Shin Megumi Tensen..." Somewhat disrespecting the seriousness of the situation. "Omega doesn't think she has ever seen something so realistic as this!" She nodded to herself. With so many people around them, the chance for anyone dying permanently was practically zero. So why get all down about this!?

"Ahem..." Nonetheless, bugs were still bugs. Even if demonified(?). "A good Final Boss doesn't only know how to deal Omega damage, but also how to give superb support to her allies and subjects!" And looking at @Trissayne Lavelle just gave her the right idea of how to go about this!

Closing her eyes, Omega waved her hands, as if once again conducting something, before a small summoning portal opened behind her and three Magitek birds flew out of it.

Click clank clack.

One of them flew straight into @Cynna's face. Transforming into some sort of smart glasses that would give her more battlefield info for her magics! "Now you're an iMage!" She gave the grumpy girl a thumbs up. They probably looked stylish, too!

The other one settled onto @Regan's weapon. "Consider it a free one-time-use upgrade to do yourself the awesome!" What exactly the birdie-payload did to the weapon, was a mystery left for Regan to uncover.

As for the third bird, Omega looked around, before her eyes settled on @Yugam, who seemed eager to jump into action! "Hey, you! The guy who looks like an Anime Protagonist." A lot of people may have been turning towards her upon saying this, but Omega was already approaching THAT one.

"One day, you will become one of Omega's powerful enemies and we'll have a legendary battle! Soooo, show Omega Redux what you can do now, yes!?" She gave a small hmpf as she judged a book by its cover, crossing her arms as the last Magitek bird settled on Yugam's shoulder. Would it attach to his weapon, just how it had been for Regan? Or would it turn into something like mecha-crow-themed bird boots to give him SPEEED!? Or something completely different!? Omega didn't know.

Though, one thing was certain for all three of her Magitek-summon buffs, which Omega didn't actually know either. Alas...

...they would explode.
These RNG-resetting speedrunners really did her final-boss RNG a bad one, after all.

"Oh, and Omega rates this Boss 4 out of 10! It's just a big punching bag with a gross theme and all. Only getting some points for the epic entry!"

Herculean was screaming in pain till he felt a hand on his face and quite a delicious tasting brew in his mouth. The bleeding had stopped entirely as some of the flesh held itself. As much pain he was suddenly feeling the healing flowed over him. Getting up from one knee to a stand position a face of pure relief showed as much he hated to admit it. He looked over at his savior @Nai a follow beast folk at her appearance. While his heroic form a huge tooth gator-like grin appeared.

"A Lifesaver thank you, kind stranger...after this is all over I owe you a drink when this is all over. The name herculean but for now I have to play part in this fight."

He would turn into an alligator man who was impressed by how much pain he endured. He gathered that he was on only that he could see since nia didn't interact with him. The gator man didn't even have to say anything before more actions lit up. The figure just laughed as he disappeared just as fast as he came. He wasn't sure what to make of the rather short encounter but it wasn't important for now. He took a moment to pull off the visible bugs by squeezing them and crushing them and spitting up blood and wiping his mouth. In his hud, a timer appeared timing how much power he had left in his heroic form. Only having a few options left he saw ultra protect.

The timer had a bar under and at the end, he could expend the rest of the time in exchange for three different players. Taking Deep breathing knowing that this form was sick, but he had to be a team player. Pressing the button as it instantly drained the timer and his heroic form transformed him back into his base form. His armor was full of holes from the bugs and his body was tired and bloody he watched as the red energy formed into three huge shields. The powerful spell having shooting into the air like a shooting star. The first shield would land on @Jin landing in front of him preventing damage from entering but allowing him to attack from behind it. The second shield would land on top of sol doing the same thing it did to jin.

Herculean would follow the last star to @Frey Elzeiros trying to keep up as best he could in his condition. Running till he couldn't anymore as he fell to the right side of Frey. The heroic form and all the combined damage had taken a massive toll on his body. While everyone was fighting herculean needed a moment to breathe. Falling on his back seeing the giant Marton he would just laugh with a smile on his face saying under his breath so mentally and physically tired.

"
To go beyond everyone...give me a minute I'll just rest here."

He felt a hand grasp his color, lift him up from the writhing insectile mass and throw him onto solid chitin. His skin still crawled with the sensation of thousands of little legs moving across his body, but still, he laughed, sobbed, clutched and clawed at his skin like a madman, until a goat woman (@Nai ) shoved a crystalline flask into his mouth, liquid pouring down the man's throat, bringing him back to his senses.

"It's safe now," she told him, although a glance around him as he spat the flask out of his mouth would indicate anything but. "You're not dead, so help me get this big lug outta here."

Yu looked at the 'lug' that the goat lady indicated, vaguely recognizing him from the day's event, and was quick to grab the man and start dragging him out of their prison. Although where in the hell Yu was going to go next, he didn't know. He couldn't just throw the guy down there...besides, he still had some business with whatever-the-fuck had trapped him and the other Explorers inside itself.

Standing on it's head already, Yu was quite ready to deliver a little bit of payback, when a strange girl (@Omega Redux ) called out to him (well, she called out to 'the guy who looks like an Anime Protagonist', but Yu figured he was pretty much the only one who actually fit that bill) and said something about him one day becoming a powerful enemy of...someone, presumably her's, and them one day eventually battling, before a strange mechanical bird settled on his shoulder. Uh...ok...Yu just gave the girl a strange look, before figuring it was better not to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Time to get to work.

Maybe it was the Red Fever still talking, or maybe Yu was just furious, but all the man wanted was to see this beast crash to the ground, a lifeless corpse. Mangled limbs, the insects flying around them hitting the ground like some disgusting rain of decay. As he stood atop the enemy's head, Yugam cast his eyes downward, inspecting what the army of other players were doing, how best to assist them in killing this disgusting monster.

Yugam decided on his course of action. The man rolled up both his sleeves to the elbows before reaching into a coat pocket and producing a simple knife. The mechanical bird rose from Yu's shoulder, fluttering beside his for a moment before taking off and beginning to fly around the man, slowly circling above him as he continued with his preparations.

With the cold steel pressed to his wrist, Yu winced as he felt the blade bite into his flesh. The wound began to run red almost immediately, welling up with his blood. Doing the same with his other wrist, blood now flowing freely from his wrists, Yu then held his arms out to the side. Instead of dripping to the ground, the blood instead floating upward, as if being sucked from his body by some unseen force as it collected itself in the in the center of the circle Omega's bird flew, creating a slowly growing sphere of roiling, red, viscous liquid.

The red sphere grew and grew as Yu poured more of himself into it, emptying himself in his entirety until finally, it stopped. The flowing surface seemed to halt, and Yu's arms fell to his sides.

"Show me."

The red sphere suddenly broke apart, transforming into countless of scarlet lances that shot downwards, skewering the Kurungaar Mother's legs, body. Whatever hadn't impaled itself in the Kurungaar's body struck the ground indiscriminately, nearly crushing the player's below, before becoming liquid once more and shooting upwards, attaching themselves to the lances stuck in the Kurungaar's body. Long chains began to form, crystallizing and anchoring the Mother to the ground, preventing it from moving.

"Show me everything this world has to offer..."

Thousand could only growl when he got saved, it was seriously just another death in a game people needed to stop acting like this shit was real. Sitting up and drawing both blades and summoning his arsenals of magic swords ignoring everything else with a yawn and moved to the most annoying point of any creature the legs. Stop it from moving and then nuke it to kingdom come, that was true in real life so the game was likely no different.

"Alright, guess I have to put in more work just to get out of this nonsense. If yawl could just not revive me that be great, I have to get to work soon and to be honest this shit ain't worth it in my book."

A annoyed yell escaping his lips as he flicked his wrist to start spinning his arcane blades and got low to the ground. He knew he was gonna bit it sooner rather then later, and if that big thing had any say it would be the first choice so might as well go down swinging like last time as his face was covered with a massive smile and a faint chuckle emitted as he started running along under the creature. Hands spinning and slashing to send the arcane blades to bin the large bug down while he dealt with the annoying little bugs.

Was there a point to any of this, not likely it was just some dumb game, did his 'help' matter likely not. Did he give a damn if this ate everyone here, only the fact he would not be around to watch it all happen. His chuckle going into a manically laugh as he watched his health drop rapidly and he kept fighting. Was there any reason to worry if he would just respawn in a chapel somewhere, not in his eyes. With the final few swings of his swords and the last arcane one going off somewhere his body quit.
