The Pantone Demon

He could tell his words had a profound affect on @Luthien, as indicated by her frown and the clutching of her hands into firsts but he just shrugged in indifference. Children will be children after all, and he had no interest in dealing with such people, especially when it came to vastly important operations such as this. There was no doubt in his mind she was just like everyone else in this world who took it for granted, viewing it simply as another game. He wouldn't expect someone like her to understand the concepts of duty or a rigid code of ethics that dictated one's life. No, she was just a simple girl who wanted to enjoy a video game, which was fine, but he had no love for such individuals. If she couldn't even grasp that much, he knew she never truly understand what It meant to take a vow and hold yourself to it, no matter how difficult your life became, and that's exactly what he had done with Kyra. Despite whatever that elf wanted to think, he cared about Kyra more than either one could ever hope to understand, for he had taken a vow to protect her after she had quite literally, taken her own life to save his own. Despite how the two may have taken it, Kyra's abilities were never in doubt. He had seen them first hand on several occasions, starting all the way back when she was first starting out. No, much like his own depending on the circumstances, he was much more concerned with her mental being with regards to how she would heal people. Having used such methods in the past to heal people, he absolutely loathed the fact she used her own life force, and even her own soul to heal people. It quite frankly sicken him, knowing full well how easy It was to take your own life in the process and Kyra? She would do it so casually without even thinking about it. He found himself annoyed by his own thoughts but It wasn't as If he could ever change her mind however. Like women in general, she was quite stubborn when she wanted to be. In the end, he would just close his eyes and sigh, showing his disappointment on the matter. As a result, when @Kyra Vashtana attempted to tease him, he inadvertently ended up giving the impression he was ignoring her.

When he came back to it a few moments later, he found @Ueno Mizuki standing idle with her two wolves. Marginally concerned by the lack of character in his companion, he leaned over his makeshift table and snapped his right hand's fingers a few times near her eyes in an attempt to get her attention.

Uh Mizuki? You alright? Your kinda phasing out here.

As he waited for any sign from his companion, hoping she hadn't been overwhelmed by social anxiety, he pulled himself away and reseated himself in his chair before taking a sip of his green tea. He was about to return to his reading when his ears picked up @Zelrius voice, introducing not only him, but Mizuki to a individual he wasn't familiar with. This in returned caused him to stop what he was doing and shift his attention in their direction. As he did so however, he gently nudged Mizuki's side with his elbow in a further attempt to get her attention. When Zelrius went so far as to describe him as a refined warrior, he made a gentlemen's nod with his eyes closed before meeting Zelrius raised eyebrow's with his own when he was asked about the two, specifically their reasons for being here.

Hmm? It's obvious is not? Mizuki is here to do what she does best, to scout and track. I don't know about you but I wouldn't trust anyone else with such a vital undertaking. She's has been doing it for a long time after all. As for the other one? Hmm....well.

Before he could finish answering his companion's question, he found himself distracted when @Jester made an energetic wave to him and Mizuki, which in return caught his attention. Turning his crimson eyes in her direction, he was pleasantly surprised when the girl showed such enthusiasm in meeting someone like him. As a consequence, he went wide eye, albeit only slightly, If only to keep to his calm demeanor. Regardless, It was a nice change of pace compared to what he usually had to deal with from players and NPC's alike. Whether she wanted to believe it or not, she was amongst the first since his return to give him a positive comment regarding his prior reputation as a warrior & former noble. This put her in a higher light in his eyes compared to similar individual he had met in the past, If only because she showed respect in her own way. His opinion of her didn't change, even when she asked a rather sensitive question, asking where he was when the server closed or If he was U.I locked. He wasn't exactly sure what she was asking but since she had shown courtesy, he was strangely not annoyed or angry over the matter. As such, when she finished, he tilted his head and left shoulder slightly as he made a faint smile.

The honor is all mine....but such compliments are wasted on me. I don't think I'm honored as much as you say. I'm simply a servant of the crown...and it's people.

He returned to a normal posture, crossing his arms in the process

Unfortunately, I wasn't present when the world came to a end. I was pre occupied with a massive order of events on the other side, such as my marriage to my wife, amongst other things. If your asking If I've been killed multiple times than no. I'm far more accustomed to near death like situations than most. It's made me quite resilient. As of right now, I've only died once, and that was when I fought alongside his majesty several years ago to take down the Mad King.

He chuckled a bit

Those were hectic times....

After chuckling on for a few more moments, he went silent, choosing to observe for the time being....well that was the plan until Kyra decided to have some fun, taking the opportunity to tease @Zelrius with a wink & smile. He knew what she said was a joke but he couldn't help but jump in. With a sly smile and raised eyebrows, he tilted his eyes in his companions direction and slightly nudged with his elbow. He whispered into his ear so only he could hear.

Ooh my, Is that Kyra hitting on you? Interesting, I didn't take you as a ladies man now. How about you do her a favor and ask her out? She can't possibly say no now.....unless of course, she's afraid.

He than smirked at @Kyra Vashtana with dubious eyes. He wanted to say sorry but two could play at that game. It was time for payback, even If he wasn't paying complete attention when she tried teasing him. He hoped Zelrius would be game, If only to tease her...

"I'd love to."

That part wasn't a lie, after all the elf did enjoy the purple fox's company, though the smile on her lips didn't quite reach all the way up to Lúthien's eyes as she spoke. After all she still felt bad for being the cause of Kyra getting sprayed with coffee, the blonde making a mental note to try and make it up to the vixen later if possible.

She listened to the conversation on the table, continuing to eat her food little by little, and when the attention was turned to others Lúthien decided to use the opportunity to slink away. The last bite of her waffles disappeared into her mouth, quickly chased down by a now mostly cold black tea, before the blonde began tidying up her tray as she stood.

"Have s-something to do, but I'll see you all later~"

With a final wave to Kyra, Jester and Zelrius the elf took the tray in her hands, taking it to one of the cleaning stations and properly placing away the items where labelled, before finally dipping out of the mess area.

With some luck she'd be able to spot the raven-haired man that had been here not long before...

It seemed like @Seto Kurama was taken a bit aback by Mizuki's packmates, but controlled as always the man managed to rein in his initial reaction and invite the luna wolf to take a seat at the same table as him. Mizuki did so, her two wolves sitting down next to her on the ground as they patiently followed their alpha's example and remained silent so she could converse with an old friend. Although that didn't keep them from staring at everything around them with amber eyes, possibly making some people comfortable.

I see. Rereading it to get familiar with the contents then? (Mizuki produced the atlas she'd bought the same day.) I'll admit that I'd never given the literature of this world much thought since I had other things on my mind, but I imagine that there's interesting things to be learned from studying the writings of this world. (Her eyes went down to her atlas as she flipped it open.) Although for now I stick to more practical matters.

She agreed with Seto that it was more practical to prepare for the mission ahead than to spend time socialising. On the other hand, for many people socialising was an important part of taking care of their mental health, so maybe spending time with friends still counted as a form of preparation.

I'm the same as you, but I'm guessing that our companions are extroverts who gain more out of this get-together than we do. We'll be heading into dangerous territory soon, so if this helps them keep their spirits up I'd consider it a good idea.

It was easy to think of this as just a game, where you went into dangerous territory for adventure, but that was before you actually attempted it. Terrasphere was so realistic that your instincts would make sure to inform you that this wasn't a joke and that you were in real danger. Of course, the most confident and adventurous of souls could override those instincts, although Mizuki would rather heed her subconscious.

While Seto had a small argument with one of the other Travelers, the violet vixen who was quite lively, Mizuki flipped through her atlas and the maps contained within. The atlas itself was new, but the maps were at least a year old. She couldn't rely on them fully, but once the mission began it'd be much better than nothing to have this along with them.

Her ears twitched as she heard two pairs of footsteps approaching their table, and she looked up to see @Zelrius and @Jester approaching herself and Seto. Closing the atlas for now she placed it on the table before turning in her seat to face them properly, raising a hand as a mild greeting

It's not that long ago, but yes, we haven't seen each other since the Tangleweaves. I imagine that you've been busy since then.

The introduction Zelrius gave for the two veterans towards Jester felt a bit over the top for Mizuki, but it seemed like the newcomer took it all in stride and answered with even more energy and bombast than Zelrius had put into it. The luna wolf smiled before looking a bit puzzled as she realised that Jester had actually rhymed everything she said. Was that a habit, or a part of the persona that she put on while playing this game? Some people took such things very seriously (Mizuki probably included so far as everyone else was concerned).

Having both Zelrius and Seto praising her abilities felt strange. It wasn't like Mizuki didn't have confidence in her abilities, but she'd never really tried to earn any fame with them. To be acknowledged made her wonder just how many people had paid attention to her running around like a beast. At least these two didn't seem inclined to judge her for it.

I like to think I'm good at what I do, but these two might exaggerating a bit. It's nice to meet you Jester. (She paused before continuing.) I was on the other side, which meant it took four years before I could return here. As for my setup... well, enough has changed that I had to let some things go, but for the most part it's the same as before.

She turned her attention even as one of her wolves stood up and approached Jester, sniffing her legs and her hands. Given that her lupine packmate was behaving in a manner similar to that of a dog Mizuki figured she could leave it be for now and instead answer the redhead's question.

There was a call for those who wished to help scout what's left of Vintergard. Apparently, something is happening in the city, and while urban areas aren't my speciality I imagine that I'm still suitable for the task. What brought the rest of you here?

Obviously, there were other missions being planned, but Mizuki hadn't heard of any scouting being done outside of her squad. One of her ears twitched as she listened to what was going on between Seto, Zelrius, and Kyra, but since it didn't involve her she decided to stay out of it. Instead, she'd call her packmate back with a soft whine, causing the wolf to turn around and return to his seat next to the luna wolf.

Kyra Vashtana

She glanced about, noticing as first Yugam, and now Luthien had left the area. She glanced down at her meal, already finished a few moments ago. Her mind wondered what was ahead, what they would face. The prospect of being the team to actually locate the king. It would certainly be a story to tell, later on, should it come to pass.

"Hey...stay safe, and I'll see you after the expedition, alright?"

She had moved over to Zelrius, giving him a final smile before making her way away from the table. For a moment, she paused, glancing at some of the other individuals. A few she knew, some were new to her - or entirely unknown, in many a case. Still, there was one that she decided she wanted to leave a final word with.

Moving across the camp, she came up beside Seto, laying a hand on the man's shoulder and leaning forward slightly to smile into his face - a smile that bespoke of confidence, and a lack of any intent of harm. Yet a fire danced behind her eyes.

"Make sure not to get into any situation that would be...dangerous. I won't be able to heal your wounds from where I am, and it would weigh heavily on my conscious if you were to die because I wasn't there to hold your hand, again."

She gave the man a slight wink, before standing up and making her way out of the area, and back towards the tents that she had found herself placed in originally. Today was going to bring some interesting encounters, and she wanted to be prepared for whatever the world would throw at her this time.
