"It is fine, buddy. Just be mindful of it." Hanno nodded at Ariweyn. The girl was a beginner at the game, so it was only natural that she would. His eyes then shifted to Ethel, breathing a laugh. "If I could do some doppelganger stuff like that, it would be really scary, yeah." He shrugged, then smiled warmly at Ariweyn's words.

"Being a good omen, huh? That does sound nice. I'd say you are one too, buddy. Or rather, I'd say anyone who is willing to help others is." Hanno flashed a grin, happy to see the other had altruistic feelings in her. Granted, that probably meant the girl could possibly want to stay in the game to help others that were in life danger due to its true nature rather than leaving, whenever Hanno told her the true nature of it.

That is... If she didn't know yet.

Huffing a chuckle, he nodded. "Yeah, typical energetic granny. They are cool though." He said, following next to Ariweyn and Ethel, staying mostly wary about anyone that tried to ambush them once again, hoping for a safe trip from now on. "I gotta say though, it is a shame this place has bandits and goblins attacking people. Wolves I can understand, and they are sorta easier to deal with since they are just animals on their homes. But the other two..." He rolled his eyes.

"I agree with that youngster. What kinda person takes from someone else when they could just make an honest living? Maybe it's just bein' lazy. Don't want to work, though I gotta say if some of these bandits turned coat and went to the light maybe they could help some of us old folks by clearing out the wolves and such. Make the world better for everyone ya hear."

Ethel turned to @Ariweyn Laundale

"Thank you kindly! Typically my pride wouldn't allow me to take your arm but ya know it's been quite the day hasn't it?"

Ethel would take Ariweyn's arm as they headed back to town.

"You're a right nice youngin' ya know that. Come to this world only recently and here ya are helping out the elderly. Does my heart proud. The both of ya do. So what are the two of ya planning on doing next? Any more adventurer or has this been enough for one day?"

Ethel (Alecto) let out a laugh.

"Miss Ethel, there are other factors other than they don't want to. they could have other circumstances keeping them from an honest job like a disability or a history of crime they can't get away from, or it might just be all they know."

the mage is not strong, and Alecto can feel it, but curiously, Alecto will feel stronger, as if she is actively using magic to help the "old" woman walk.

"
Its not a problem, ma'am. It's the least I can do after the day you must have had"

she thinks about that question for a second before shrugging. she looks to hanno with a slightly curious look.

"Oh, I was actually hoping to pick his brain a bit about the area. I have a few questions about stuff like where i can stay and what would be a good location for a foreigner like myself! If Hanno is up to it, I'll buy him his dinner as compensation"

She smiles a bit.

"You are right, ma'am. After all, those guys didn't seem all that bad at fighting. If they got together to make a group to defend the area, I'm sure they would gain much more than trying to steal from people." Hanno shrugged with a sigh, partially disappointed at how far people went with their petty solutions for their money problems.

Hanno then averted his eyes to look at Ari, raising his eyebrow. "I see, so you think we could get some guys like those back to their tracks, as long as we give them some other opportunity?" He asked, wondering what Ari's idea would be regarding it.

"Woo! Dinner as compensation? I mean, I will tell you anything you need, buddy, without needing to get me a free dinner. You are new around, aren't you? Are you sure you don't need me to pay you some stuff myself?" He chuckled, not wanting to sound rude.

"perhaps... It all depends on the person and if they want to be better. If anything its just a matter of opportunity."

She nods a bit, thinking

"maybe I could help honeyhome set up some kind of militia? I don't know though. and yeah. More than likely, I can pay for it. i had a code from a streamer that partnered up with the game and advertised it. I'm surprised it still worked though. gave me... ten gold i think?"

As the group had entered the town, Alecto figured it was time to say her goodbyes.

"Well dearies, I think this is my stop. Don't have much of an appetite after all the commotion so I think I'll just head to the inn and get a room for the night. A bit of sleep will do me good. You two have a great night though, sure you have lots to talk about it, especially you, newcomer. The both of ya got big things ahead of ya, that much I know. Keep your chins up and do great things. Granny Ethel will be watchin with pride."

Letting go of Ariweyn's arm, Ethel began hobbling her way towards the inn. After a few steps, she would turn and wave at the pair and continue on her way until she was out of sight.

"Well this was a blast wasn't it?"

Alecto spoke to herself sarcastically. Dodging into an alley, Alecto would transform herself back into her normal form.

That's enough of 'Granny Ethel' for one day. Though of course playing the victim has its perks, acting helpless when you're as powerful as I am, does become quite an annoyance after a time. Still, I suppose it's mission accomplished. I've gathered intel on one newcomer and a lion and learned of a bandit camp I can easily place under my thumb. A good day's work...

Leaving the alleyway Alecto would begin to whistle a happy tune. If asked, none of the townspeople would have ever heard of anyone or seen anyone that matched the description of Granny Ethel.

[EXIT THREAD]

OOC: If you two want to keep going, go ahead! It seemed like Ariweyn and Hanno could still have a long conversation if they wanted!

"Hah... A militia? Well, the Lions almost make something similar thanks to our patrolling work. But surely a militia would be useful." Hanno said, crossing his arms and pondering.

"But for now, I don't trust these bandits for such a thing. It would require a lot of talking and planning too, I doubt the townsfolk would like the idea of being protected by those that endangered them for so long." People held a grudge for a long time, after all, and this time it was hard to blame anyone for that.

Hanno then shifted his glance to the granny, smiling warmly at her words and nodding. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Granny Ethel. I will have to bother you someday to listen to your amazing stories of when you were younger." He laughed, blinking when seeing the turn she did to an alley and raising his eyebrow in curiosity.

"That was a cool granny..." Hanno hummed, then looked at Ariweyn's eyes. "So, buddy, I guess you have some questions for me to answer, right? Let's go have our meal."

the newly logged in mage will nod to the leaving woman

"take care miss ethel. let me know if you need anything else too! and you are right hanno. I don't trust that the people will be too happy about that, but we all have growing pains, towns like this included."

she waves her off before turning back to hanno

"
Will she be okay in that alley? its not like this town is a capital city... eh she'll be fine, landers cant be killed too easily i think."

she shrugs before looking back to him, eyes filled with curiosity

"absolutely I do. and if you have a restaurant recommendation, I would love to hear it"

She smiles before her avatar glitches out and she disconnects.

a few moments later she will log back in, but to hanno, she doesn't move quite right. all her movements seem to be really fast or she appears to be motionless.

"
I am so sorry, We're having some really horrendous storms out here. can we put a raincheck on dinner? I don't want to just disappear on you."

@Alecto Thank You so much for running this! i had so much fun!
@Hanno Futaba Thank you for the help. I am sorry, but I would like to close this out. @ me on discord if you want to do the dinner though!

Hanno hummed for a moment before turning to Ariweyn and nodding.

"I think a granny like her knows the way of these streets much better than us." Hanno smirked, casting one last glance at the alley's entrance before shifting his attention back to his new friend.

"Well, I do have some restaurants reco-" Hanno paused, blinking surprised at the girl suddenly disappearing.

For a moment, he is unsure of what happened, taking his UI open so he could slip a friendship request to her before she abruptly returned into the game, acting remotely weird in the process thanks to the connection issues.

"Oh, hello there." Hanno greeted her, crossing his arms and humming with a nod. "Connection troubles, huh? In this case, we can continue this some other time." He said, looking at Ari and smiling warmly. He needed to make sure she wouldn't get in trouble, and that she knew the true nature of this game before she decided to venture in it.
