A warm and beautiful day in Eastern Brisshal. The birds chirp a pleasant sound as the scampering of forest creatures can be heard through the leaves. Traversing the outskirts of an Eastern Brisshal town an old woman carrying a bag in one hand and a bucket in the other slowly makes her way into the forest.

336372.jpg

"Oooh, these old knees are a killin' me. I'll need to take a break soon, these boots ain't easy on the toesies neither. Don't know how much longer I'll be able to make this trek with these old bones. Still, a sale's a sale and I gotta make a livin' somehow. Though maybe sellin' forest plants in town ain't gonna be possible much longer. Maybe I'll just have to move inta town for good. Be easier, then again how am I going to pay for it? Don't have no family and not much this old sack of bones can do these days."

As the old woman talked aloud to herself suddenly a pair of bandits sprang out from the trees.

"Not very smart to be shoutin' out here in bandit territory. We'll be taking all ye got for now and if you don't give it up we'll be taking your life. Though it doesn't look like you got much of it left! Now hand over the bag!"

"No! please! HELP! HELP! I'M BEING ROBBED! SOMEONE HELP ME!"

The old woman's cries reverberated through the forest.

As usual, the patrolling in Eastern Brisshal was for most of part calm. There weren't as many sights of starcallings happening, and the ones that happened were far from his area of action, leaving it to Cleo or any other Lion Arms patroller.

At some point, Hanno did find a newbie, and after a careful explanation about the game and some of its deadly secrets, it seemed like that player was still willing to play, making Hanno at least offer to escort them to Honeyhome.

Some people really seemed to have nothing to lose.

After doing so, Hanno bid his farewell to the newbie, mentioning they could ask for help anytime they wished, but not before recommending them to think twice about continuing to play Terrasphere.

Returning to his patrol, now mostly near the outskirts because of his recent leave from the town, a scream for help caught his attention.

Gripping his shield (that was still in asleep) tightly, Hanno darted off fiercely, using his senses to guide him to the plea of interjection before he found the culprit: an old lady and two malicious bandits. "Stop right there!" He growled, rushing toward the bandits and shield bashing the first one, who was caught in surprise, sending him stumbling to the ground with a groan.

"Wah- Who yer think ye are, bastard?!" The other bandit didn't waste time to shift her attention, ready to thrust the dagger against the faerin, slashing the blade against the tip of his ear when he avoided a deadly strike.

snap! Pop! Poof!

Out of the ether, a freshly made character model appears in the area with a few stars around her. She stands a moment, blinking the fuzzys out of her eyes.

"oh damn... Theo wasn't lying about the intro."

The Astramancer looks around amd notices the bandits and smirks a bit.

"
oh neat! A tutorial fight! HANG ON MA'AM!"

She sprints for one of the bandits, trying out a guard ability... And failing to even activate it.

"Ehe... Hi there?"

she smiles uncomfortably while trying to get the guard skill to work

As the two newcomers approached, the old woman waved them down.

"Here! Help! Help! Thieves!"

The Faerin with the shield stepped into action without hesitation.

An old hand... this one's definitely seen battle before. Skilled with the shield. I see.

Suddenly a second person appeared on the scene. A magic user by their dress.

And this one... newer.

"Oh dearies, bless you but do be careful. These thugs are quite skilled! Don't get yourselves hurt on my account. These old bones aren't worth it!"

Rolling backward, the thief sprang back to his feet.

"YOU'RE GOING TO PAY FOR THAT!"

Suddenly the thief whistled. Scampering could be heard through the forest as the sound approached suddenly three more bandits appeared.

"More men than the enemy! That's how a true bandit fights! Now, what will ya do? Here how about I make you two a deal? You forfeit all your belongings and will let the three of ya live. Pretty generous no?

Oh, now more? A good test for the newcomer. This is getting interesting. Let's see how they handle it.

Unfortunately the new player is still unable to make the skill go off as she groans, frustrated. It does pop off after a second, but is barely strong enough to cover the old lady from an attack.

"Look man, i barely have anything worth taking."

she does square up a bit more, ready to... Fight? Run? Who knows.

"I just got here! this is one hell of a tutorial though."

the newbie just looks excited.

"afterall this is just a game! I'll come back if you kill me"

she does look at her unwitting companion with that smile.

"Oh hi there! Are you also in the tutorial phase too? What do you think so far?"

she smiles, just excited to be there

The sudden appearance of someone else startled Hanno, but the faerin didn't hesitate to try and push the bandit away from the old woman, growling. "Get off her!" He warned, casting a glance behind his back. "Ma'am, don't speak like that, you will go home safely-" Hanno said confidently, though the whistle and the call for reinforcements made him frown, with bandits appearing and charging, some already preparing their bows and crossbows.

The greeting and words from the newbie made Hanno look at her, seeing the smile on her face and breathing a chuckle.

"This ain't a tutorial, buddy- This game... This world doesn't have anything like that!" Hanno said, moving closer to the newcomer and forcing his shield forward to cover her, making the incoming arrows snap and clash against the bouncy surface of the strange shield he bore.

"If I were you, I would watch out, and probably cover the ol' lady too... Do you have any trick under your sleeve?" He asked, stepping forward and becoming an obstacle between the bandits and the other two.

"Oh no, even more! I swear what's the use of a kingdom if it can't even protect its citizens by keepin' bandits under control?"

The old woman rushed toward the pair for protection and whispered.

"Dearies, do you think we have a chance or should we just all try and run for it? I know I won't make it far, but you two gotta lot more life in yah than me. I couldn't live with myself if two youngsters took the fall for an old bat like maself."

"ENOUGH CHIT CHAT! WHAT'S IT GOING TO BE. FORFEIT YOUR GOODS OR YOUR LIFE! HAHA, I LIKE THE LOOK OF THAT SHIELD FAERIN TRASH, I'LL BE TAKING THAT FOR MY OWN. AS FOR THE OTHER... MAYBE YOU'D MAKE A GOOD SLAVE FOR THE CAMP, HAHAHA!

So not only are these bandits inferior in every possible way, but racist as well, and to think if I wanted to I could have these pieces of shit drowning in their own blood before they could blink... even better, I could make them my personal pet rats to do my dirty work. But that's not what I'm here for is it? Observe and take notes. Sometimes this really does get boring.

The bandits watched the trio with smug indifference as they waited for what they believed would be an eventual surrender.

"Another step forward and will fill ya so full of holes your mothers won't even be able to recognize yas!"

the Astramancer nods to the man, before turning to the woman. She smiles at her, starting to form a plan of attack in her mind.

"ma'am, you have more wisdom than us. Trust me. You are worth saving."

she unhooks a bag on her hip, taking out a.deck of tarot cards.

FFFFFFFT! PAFPAFPAF! FFFFFFT!

The cards shuffle quickly in her hands.

"
The future has many more plans for you."

SHWIF! A CARD IS DRAWN!

"
JUDGEMENT, A CARD OF STRENGTH AND RESOLVE HAS BEEN DRAWN. MY NEW ALLY, I BESTOW THIS TO YOU"

Hanno will feel a presence before a buff is applied. +8 damage buff for 3 turns.

"As if we would leave you alone, ma'am." Hanno smirked, glancing at the other traveler and nodding firmly, happy to see the other was just as inclined to fight along.

The words from the bandit caught his attention, however, making Hanno cast a glare and a frown. "What did you say?" He frowned, taking a step to stay in front of the two in a protective stance. The call from the cards came from behind, and Hanno could feel the presence of the woman wrapped in his muscles.

The strength came just in time, with the smug bandit charging in, just in time for Hanno to dodge the blow and counter attack.

"HIYAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Hanno roared, throwing a mighty punch that as soon as it slammed against the bandit, it knocked them away with a blast as if the bandit had become a cannonball, shooting through the air and striking against two other bandits with a crushing force that threw them down to the ground.

With his fists fuming and slightly bruised with the impact, Hanno couldn't help but blink at the result of his attack.

Has he always been that strong?

"Hey buddy, I have no idea what this Judgement card is about, but hella how I feel stronger now-!" He grinned, pumping himself up and preparing himself for the incoming enemies, getting on a fighting stance while some already hesitated, fearing the magic of the astramancer and the strength of the knight.

But like always... There was always a brave one between the ill intentioned.

In an instant, three bandits were down.

"Shit... that shield. I heard about you. You're one of them lions ain't ye. All do-gooder and all that? You patrol these parts, heard stories of a Faerin with a shield big as they was..."

The bandit leader looked around. The majority of his team was down leaving only a fair fight, something bandits typically hated.

"Fine ya bloody hero. Looks like ya win the day. War's still ours though. You'll never be rid of us, and even if you were too many other gangs like ours lookin' to take what we want when we want."

Now there's an idea. Take what you want when you want. That I can get behind. Of course, if you're going to be successful, you have to have the strength to take. The weakness of these bandits is disgusting. They're worse than flies, sub-human roaches scuttling to eat whatever crumbs they can. Lazy, weak, and cowardly...

The two remaining bandits quickly reached into their pockets and threw several small black balls on the ground creating a heavy smoke screen. Utilizing the commotion the bandits would make a break for it.

The human looks around, surprised that they were smart enough to run away. She shuffles the Tower back into the deck before putting it back in her bag.

"ma'am are you alright? That must have been quite the shock. We should probably get you back to town so a doctor can check you over. Cant be too cautious about your health after all!"

she will offer the woman a warm smile and motions for her to sit

"
I am going to clear up what our next move will be with my friend over there. if we can, we will bring you to the closest town ourselves."

she turns away from the woman and begins a slow approach towards Hanno before stopping, baffled by the three bandits laying dead.

"that was... Pretty cool. Do you have some super strength or something, sir? Ive never seen people hit that hard."

she walks over, almost starry eyed at him.

"my name is Ariweyn. May I have yours, sir?"

The grin to the girl faded when the bandit's voice caught his attention. "Yeah, you can bet, the Lions will continue to patrol these lands until you criminal scum is gone," Hanno growled, taking a step forward to catch the bandit, but before he could do anything, the puff of smoke brushed on his face, causing him to get distracted by it and by coughs that escaped from his mouth as he tried to wave the smoke away.

"Damn it-" He shook his head, sighing before looking at the old lady. "Hey ma'am, are you alright?" He asked, glancing at the other girl that was already offering to escort her. "Yeah, Honeyhome isn't too far from here, so we can escort you there easy peasy." Hanno grinned, though still wary about the bandits that could come back at any moment.

Hanno then looked at the woman, "Nice to meet'cha, Ariweyn. Name's Hanno, Hanno Futaba." He introduced himself. "I do have some strength, yeah! But that punch wasn't just my muscles, that magic of yours sure pumped 'em up!" He flexed his arm. "We did a great job shooin' those guys away-!" Hanno said, peeking at the limp bandits on the ground and frowning slightly.

Okay, maybe the job was way too well done.

The old woman let out a large sigh of relief. It seemed a tense situation was over and they were all safe now.

"Oh, I'm fine thanks to you two young heroes. Why if you hadn't come runnin' I don't know what I would have done. Who are ya anyhow? I heard one of ya's was a Lion. That right? Which one of ya was that? And what about the other one? Ya both lions?"

Finding a large rock to sit on, the old woman took a load off while she waited for the pair to respond. After they would, she would ramble on a little more.

"Back in my day, I would have given those youngin's a wollopin' they woulda remembered for the rest of their days. But that was years ago."

The old woman chuckled.

"And here I was just thinking to myself might be time to move into town. Then this happens. I'll tell ya not sure how much longer I could make the trek there and home anyway but it does hurt the pride. Anyway, I'd appreciate it if you two could help me back to town. I think that there event shook me up a bit more than I'd like to admit, just need to rest my feet a minute then I'll be ready."

After speaking her peace, the old woman would let the two converse as she sat on the rock.

@Hanno Futaba @Ariweyn Laundale

So a lion and what I can only guess is someone new. Interesting. I wasn't expecting that kind of power to come to show against a few bandits but all the better. Now I have a better idea of their capabilities. I guess I'll play the part of the old woman until we get back to town and be on my way. All in a day's work, though to be fair I didn't really do anything except set myself up to get robbed. Oh well.

When the other pair were ready, the old woman would be good to head back to town.

"honeyhome it is then! We'll get you there safe and sound, ma'am! I promise. though I'm not too sure there's a lion in the area, they are pack animals and tend to stick together."

she turns a bit to look back at the woman, confident they'll be fine, before focusing back on the Lion

"and it's a pleasure to meet you too, mister hanno. and thank you, but in all honesty, I wasn't sure what that spell would do, but i know the tower is a good sign of power. if it was reversed, though, that would have been a different thing. but no matter! we got them! and ma'am, i'm sure if you had to, you could have taken them with a hand behind your back!"

she nervously chuckles, scared to tell them that she wasn't sure of what happened or even if it was her spell that did anything at all. she was new and wasn't sure of the powers she selected.

"so, is there any loot on these guys? I didn't spawn in with much"

she motions to the bodies before walking over and searching them for gold or anything valuable

"Oh, sorry- My name is Hanno, Hanno Futaba. Knight from Lion Arms, at your service, ma'am." Hanno grinned at the old lady, bowing slightly, in his usual carefree way.

A laughter then escaped from his lips, with his hand reaching for his waist as he relaxed more. "So you were a tough fighter yourself back in the day? Hella, we have a master with us then! What's your name, if you don't mind sharing it?" Hanno asked to the old lady, waiting expectantly before turning his attention to Ariweyn.

"Eerh... Loot, yeah. Bandits do have loot..." He squinted, leaning closer. "You are fairly new to this... World, right?" Hanno said, being mindful of the granny.

"This doesn't work like... Y'know, the other ones, where things just pop up and everything is very... Game-y" Hanno explained, leaning away and crossing his arms. "It is more like... The real deal. So bandits do have loot, because it is what they carry with them. I'm not sure if you will find money- But if you need help, I can give you a hand."

I was right, she is new. So was it a lucky draw or is she just strong for a newcomer? Hah... so many questions.

"
Why most people just call me Granny, but the name's Ethel. Used to be Iron Ethel back in my younger days, but that was a long time ago."

The old woman let out a chuckle. After stretching her back, she walked toward the pair and pointed at Ariweyn.

"You're new to this world ain't ya? One of the Travellers I'm guessing? Well, that's just great ain't it. I'm always thankful each time another one of your kind shows up. It's like watching another hero in the making land on the world. Your type has so much potential it's impossible to say what kinda great deeds you'll get up to next, like saving an old woman for instance."

Laughing, the old woman continued.

"You looked a little confused when I said lion. Didn't mean actually lions, youngster. Meant the Lion Arms. The group that our new friend here is a part of. They're the sworn protectors of the area, fighting evil, protecting people, and keeping things safe for the rest of us. Why without them, who knows where we'd be?"

Though to be fair, if they were as good at their jobs as they like to pretend, bandits would have ceased being a problem a long time ago...

"Ain't just the Lions though. There's also MIT the brainiacs always trying to learn everything about everything, and then there are the whistles great explorers the lot of them. I hear they're all recruiting new bodies like yourself these days as well. Might be somethin' to look into."

The newcomer is pawing around the bandits' bodies, not particularly upset about touching a body at this point. it'll set in later on, though.

"A pleasure to meet you both. and I am new here, I literally just came from... the other world for the first time before helping here."

she is trying to be careful about how she explains things before she chuckles a bit before smiling a rather peculiar smile to them, about to impart some wildly profound knowledge. at least, its profound to her.

"However, if I were Faefolk I would have stolen your identities. if someone asks "may i have your name", do not answer them. That's the fae. they are tricksters."

she will stand up, confused a bit.

"I didn't do too much, Miss Ethel. I just cast a spell. Hanno is the one that helped the most. and thank you for explaining, I was confused"

She ponders something a bit before shrugging.

"I would prefer to remain free from any of the guilds for now. I want to make sure I like the guilds before I commit to anything. But no matter, shall we head for Honeyhome?"

"Iron Ethel? Hella, that's cool." Hanno grinned, only being able to wonder and dream how 'Iron Ethel' used to kick the butts of any bandit that tried to ambush her in the past. The nickname sure had a strong tone to it. "It is nice to meet'cha, Ethel."

Hanno then casted a glance at Ariweyn, letting out a laughter at the way she mentioned a fae would steal their names. "Ahaha, no no... Try to not spread this stuff around, buddy. Faerins already have it very rough by people thinking we are some sort of bad omen and trying to enslave us every day, if they start thinking we are like that kind of fae, things will get even worse." Hanno explained, then casting a glance at the Granny, that explained more about the factions, and then at Ariweyn, who reacted with vague indifference.

"Ethel is right, the factions are something to look into. But you sure should try to learn a bit more of them first... I'd say all of them have their own good qualities, and considering your power, you would be a great addition to any of them." Hanno said in an encouraging tone, though he soon realized that maybe he should be trying to make her get out of the game, not even deeper into it.

"Well, yeah. We need to get the Granny back, if she is ready for it, that is." Hanno smirked.

Alecto (as Ethel) popped up from her rock.

"Ready and willin' youngsters. Iron Ethel still has some more miles on these legs of mine!"

As they prepared to leave, Ethel looked to Ariweyn.

"Ah, and the Lion there is right. Ya don't want to go spreadin' any more rumors about Faerin than there already are. They've got enough on their backs with the general dislike for their race and all that. Why if anyone thought there was one that could go around stealin' people's faces and impersonating others there would be mayhem."

Alecto pinched her leg to keep from laughing. It was true, she could cause incalculable damage with this ability. Impersonating people of power for her own gain, setting countries against each other, it was all as simple as using the right face and the right words. But that was neither here nor there. Right now she was just gathering information on various individuals. Getting to know the world's inhabitants a bit better so to speak.

"I know you're new here, but you heard the bandits spoutin' their trash earlier about the Faerin. Them types have it rough in this world. Anyway, let's be off! Don't want the sun to set on us."

Ethal began moving in the direction of town.

"Ooohhhh, im so sorry hanno. I'll remember not to say that."

she shrugs as she walks over to help the elder up with a smile.

"amd as i see it, hanno, you are a good omen. You have saved her, and more than likely me. If you weren't here, I would have probably done something stupid like try to put up that shield again"

she offers an arm for the older woman to lean against as she stands. When she starts heading for town, ariweyn will smile and look to hanno with a bemused look before whispering to him

"
she reminds me of my grandmother. Always hurrying off somewhere to confuse some poor cashier or waiter."

she will wait for the faerin to start walking with her or to offer some other words or response before walking with granny. Ariweyn will keep a languid pace with the older woman, trying to make good time to Honeyhome.
