Trinity Center: Battle Arena

"Konichiwahallohello! Welcome Travelers, thank you oh so very much for coming to Trinity Center today!"

Your party would exit the transporter that links to Trinity Center from Brisshal to be met with the chipper voice of the mascot, Trinity.

The Trinity Center existed in its own bubble of sorts, not having any apparent interaction or semblance to the rest of Terrasphere. Especially not the area where the transporter can be found. A place only the Starcalled can see.

The center is broken into several areas, unfortunately, there is no lobby or a good place to just mingle, which keeps it from being a "base" of any real use. Luckily, the Starcalled created Astorea. This has been something that Trinity has been very excited about in the past.

Today, your group had decided to take on a challenge. So the path through the center would be directed via a pulsing light running along the floor that led you further into the mysterious location. A door blocked by beams of azure would block your path, until those bars would glide to the left.

Stepping through you were now in a large flat chamber. Above you were stars and nebula circling about however it was more of a holographic image in appearance than the real thing, unlike the starry night sky that could be seen from the thin rectangular windows throughout Trinity Center. On the other side of the room was Trinity with her hands clasped behind her back and an enthusiastic smile plastered upon her overly perfected kawaii face.

The Mascot of Terrasphere

"Yay! You made it to the simulation arena, I hope it wasn't too confusing! This place had some remodeling done! For every new section shut down, we have to reiopen another kay?!" So it can make the place just a teensy bit mazey hehehe!"

Taking her hands away from her back and making a wide gesture around she continued.

"This arena has special protections that prevent any permanent harm from coming to you! So you can go all out! Don't attack each other though, it only works between you and me, kay? Now! You guys are here for a mega super battle right?"

Trinity punched the air but then wagged her finger with squinting eyes.

"Welp, it might not be super DUPER. This is tier one, so it's more of a test than anything. The system always changes a little so you can use this to try the latest alterations to your abilities too, kay?"

She nodded. No matter what you may have said or how you reacted, she simply continued as she did, much like NPC from much older and far more normal games would. The beams behind you closed, sealing you into the arena.

It seems you will have to ask her if you want to leave.

"OOOOOKAY! Let's get started, the challenge is to bring my health to 0. I know you can do this kay?! BEGIN THE BATTLE!!!"

The mascot's slim figure began to radiate with energy and long strings of random numbers and runes encircled her feet as she entered a swaying, perhaps to a tune only she could hear. Tier 1 or not, there were enough signs by now to show that this "enemy" did not play by the rules others did.

It was time to fight!

Vulnerable!

Danger was a-foot, and Askera had little time to waste in face of this. He had preparations made that needed to be taken advantage of at this very moment. The researcher opens his suitcase, remembering the pact that he had made with the Vault of Avarice before coming here. It seemed that he wouldn't be getting that nice watch back now, not in face of an entire boss.

He stood by Nai, readying trinkets on her form. He had picked her out of comfort and little other reason. She was polite, which he was familiar with, even though he could see well enough that it was a matter of personal distance instead of manners. All the same, he appreciated what he could understand.

A wristwatch-like implement was strapped around her wrist. A booster, he explained, for a one use self-propulsion. He assured his temporary co-worker that it was tested and safe.

❰ 10-11: Accelerator ❱

A potion was given to her other hand. It was an Attack increase potion that he had made yesterday while getting rid of excess materials. Fearing that it would not be enough to take on a boss, Askera took a risk and made a Sacrifice to grant the elixir power. A curse was placed upon himself, and in exchange his mana supercharged the potion.

Askera could feel his body eroding already. Hopefully these precautions would be enough to create a hero today.

In a word, disorientating.

The arena, the mascot, and even the very concept of 'testing' out new game designs in such an...obvious manner. Nai glanced down at the wristwatch that Askera had given her, more an accelerometer than a timekeeper, before settling her gaze upon Trinity.

"Well. Thank you for having us today."

And without a pause, she downed the potion, twisted the accelerator, and surged forth, swift as shadow! It wasn't that surpassing speed that she had accomplished within the forests of Solvale, nor was the terrain so treacherous as the Broodmother's flesh and shell, but the beastwoman bore down upon Trinity none the less, six chains of silver shooting out of her sleeves to interweave over the twin-tailed girl's form.

There was a strange lack of feedback though, as she pulled to tighten those restraints.

Perhaps this boss wasn't so substantial as the rest of the monsters in Terrasphere.

"O-oh. Thank you kindly."

Rael did as those beside her instructed, busying herself by trying to work her way around the user interface rather than readying herself for the impending confrontation.

Something fluttered in her stomach, something akin to join, but closer to the panic that often overcomes those stepping onto the stage for the first time, as her finger grazed over the manifested screen over her palm. Pressing the setting to activate the Auto Assist mode within her UI opened her world to a number of diverse options, all pointing to the talent of supporting others on the battlefield.

Next to manifest were her grimoire and paintbrush, tools employed for her own particular style of Summoning. Blank pages saw the elf fill them with loose strokes of paint over it, nondescript shapes coming to life, lifting themselves off the confines of the pages, to attach themselves to someone's weapon... Oh, dear, she had almost forgotten Nai's instructions!

"Buff on... Uh, Morte, is it? Buff on Morte, yes!" A nervous smile bloomed on her expression, once again looking up for some sign of reassurance that she was indeed doing the right thing.

"I... Think that worked? @Morte, g-go get her!"

Morte did not say anything as the rest of the group spoke amongst themselves, but instead at the first moment she can, she darts forward with an air of carelessness, coming to a stop in the spot almost just in front of Trinity. Tilting her head to the side, she studies the large blue mascot in front of her. And then, a wide smirk settles on her face, a low chuckle rippling out from her lips, "Perfect."

Flinging an arm forward like a puppet on a string, she plucks through the seemingly empty air on objects, thin lines of fate that only her and others with a similar sense or trait could see. With her other hand she procures a large pair of black scissors that swirl with magical essence, a hum escaping her as she snips the air absentmindedly.

It's then that her scissors are covered with... Something Morte didn't quite consent to, and she seems to snap to reality, a frown falling onto her lips as her eyebrows furrow, "Hey, what gives with the shapes?" she calls out in an annoyed tone before noticing the buff that now lights up in the lower part of her screen with @Rael's call to 'go get her'. Her frown is quickly replaced with a grin, "Nevermind then."

She manipulates the strings in front of her, not yet using her scissors to snip but instead gives them life, directing to wrap around Trinity's lower legs and feet. They lock in place, digging in tightly as she slowly pulls.

Cycle 2
Trinity Center: Battle Arena

Trinity waited in place as if the battle was turn-based in 2032.

A researcher dabbled, an artist created (or was attempting to), and...

A goat charged as a goat does.

The twin-tailed icon was being wrapped in chains, not just from Nai but also another, Morte added her own threads to the mix. Yet it would do little as Trinity's body sparkled upon contact, and repelled the weaves in seconds.

"My turn now! Get ready for much excite for you players!"

Trinity moved. First responding to Nai with a combination of slaps aimed at the blonde's face but if blocked would shift into swipes at varying points of the body, leaving waves of blue behind each swipe of her arms.

A push of the mascot's leg and she side-stepped a surprisingly far distance pointing her finger as she moved, and firing off a ball of energy at Nai before shifting her finger guns and shooting two more at Askera just as her feet touched the ground.

"Let's gooooo players! Get heated! Tests can be fun too right Askera!?"

Her hair began to change. Each strand turning an eye-blurring azure hue as she smiled excitedly at no one in particular.

Cycle 1 Damage Phase Report

  • @Askera Question took 48 HP Damage from the rest of BangBangBang! Vulnerable is precalculated.

Watching the game's mascot surge through a set of rapid offensive strikes, Rael brought her grimoire up to shield herself from what attack would follow, only to find none directed at her but at the two closest to Trinity in the battlefield.

"T-That won't do." Rael took once more to the abilities in display by her UI, the path to uncover more of the skills available made easier by the previous use of the interface. Following instructions was easier than trying to come up with things on her own, especially for someone as new as she.

"Power Heal on..." Her eyes drifted over the battlefield, settling on the unnatural glimmer of blue upon others' skin where wounds should be. "Power Heal on @Askera Question and @Nai !"

She proclaimed, her body compelled to take to action by picking up her paintbrush and taking it to yet another blank page. The lines were something that vaguely resembled the two mentioned, their stances and features put to paper only to have the "imperfections" suffered in combat erased... As they soom would find their wounds to be.

As expected, perhaps. The mascot was tough, and the mascot was similarly annoying, chains and strings both repelled by a force that Nai couldn’t truly consider ‘magical’. She clicked her tongue at Trinity’s sudden approach, brandishing a set of wooden tonfas as the flurry of slaps descended, absorbing what blows she could, only to be driven back by a magical bullet to her face. The beastwoman’s head snapped back at the force, a trail of blood trickling down her forehead as she shook off the daze.

There was something very slightly annoying about her attitude. So Nai took a step back from her emotions, dropped the scraps of broken wood that remained of her tonfas.

@Rael cried out. Her voice was getting clearer, and she seemed to be settling well into the role she had assigned herself. Like magic, Nai’s wounds healed up, the cut on her forehead sealing shut whilst the bruises on her arms and side reduced somewhat. Not enough to make a full recovery, but…

“Thank you.”

And she was off once more, sprinting full-stop towards Trinity, drawing out a hatchet from her breastpocket. Nai leapt, swung her arm back, and…

…thrust a spear towards Trinity’s chest, at the same moment the hatchet she had thrown whilst jumping made its arc towards her ankles.

Morte's grin quickly turned into a frown as her strings were easily deterred by the giant blue mascot, loosening her hands on the strings as a sigh left her lips, A little too op if you ask me. A fowl feeling bubbled up in her stomach that settled almost as quickly as it came, her attention soon drawn to the damage being done to the other players on the field as the target moved to new spot a little ways away form where she was located... Previously.

She had instantly sprung into action, nimbly moving across the battlefield almost as if she was on stilts, darting through the air as she flips into her spot near Trinity, but still at a distance enough to keep herself safe. It was as if she was taunting her, keeping just out of her reach while dealing her own damage, not upset if her eyes were then turned onto her for the mascot to deal some of her own, "Remember to share some with everyone, Trinity." She calls out towards the girl, before holding her scissors out to the side and snipping them swiftly through the air in front of her, a corner of her lips pulling up once more.

At the same time, the shadows around Trinity began to twist and form beside her, shifting into a large pair of shadow like scissors that snapped at her relentlessly, aiming to deal as much damage as possible in as much snips as they could.

Healed to full by Rael
Next Saving Throw has disadvantage

"Hai, hai... of course, Trinity-san." Askera hadn't the time or energy to spend on properly responding to Trinity's accusations. It wasn't as if he disagreed with her to begin with-if experiments weren't fun, he wouldn't be doing them. In fact, he was performing one right now! He had noted that Trinity just seemed to stand there in her zone and await the attacks like a good RPG enemy should. And so, he was setting an attack into the ground.

And another.

And another.

He had set fifteen landmines down so far and was still going. He wanted to see if she would care at all. For the most part, she didn't seem to, a picturesque patient saint who allowed him to set up his warzone in peace as she danced, stars alight to frame her concerto. As he walked away from the center of ground zero to the safety of Rael (he was grateful that she was so helpful already, he had believed in her from the beginning), his thumb flipped the detonation switch. The sound of bombs signalled @Nai and @Morte to move in with their pressing attacks.

It was then that he noticed that Trinity had not been idle. All she had done was dance around in her zone, sure-but it just so happened that her casual movement had taken her to the point of least destruction in the entire zone.

He'd been played for a fool. He was almost dumbstruck, but knew that he should have expected this much out of Terrasphere.

Trinity Center: Battle Arena

What could only be described as pure light burst from Trinity's body as Nai attacked. As if hitting a sparkle pinata. Not a drop of blood to be seen. Trinity was a very kid-friendly mascot! Terrasphere was great exciting super fun for the whole family!

"Wow reckless is the best attack ever! Just you wait until you max a mastery Nai!! You'll do so much super damage!"

As she was being attacked by Nai, the twin-tailed mascot of mystery would just look at Rael and flash a thumbs up!

"That's the way! Healing skills are awesome, kay?! Keep practicing to be a super player Rael!"

Bombs began going off, and Askera would say words but for whatever reason Trinity autopiloted and did not have anything to say to him. Rather she would put one leg behind the other and wave her sparkling arm in a semi-circle, the energy sparkling from it growing bright and more numerous.

Trinity's hair became as literal lasers.

Her body would twist as she made a spinning motion with Nai first to take the blades of azure. Only to continue the spinning motion and take off with a forward momentum. Hopping and spinning into the group of challengers cutting into their bodies rapidly...

Then another set of slashes as Trinity completed a total of three twirling motions and was now beside the party in melee range. Her final spin comes to an end only to unleash a wave of light from her sparkling arm.

"Watch out! Bright move ahead!!!"

A wash of particles crashed into Morte. Her body would be pinned by them. Each would burst with a flash, drowning her in whatever digital magic Trinity wielded.

Finger snaps.

"Warning!!!"

A warning symbol materializes over the area everyone is bunched in at. Flashing and emitting a loud beeping sound that hurt your ears if you were in the same vicinity.

Trinity would then resume her swaying dance-like motion as Morte's HP hit 0.

She had hoped that this wasn't a card she'd have to play immediately, but going by the flow of battle, perhaps it was better to pull the trigger now rather than regret later.

Beams of light scored Nai's suit in the split second before she sunk into her own shadow, shooting through the zone as Trinity's laser blades seared the space where she had been moments before. The mascot was quick though, her attacks even quicker than her voice, and in the absence of Nai, her focus zeroed in on another: Morte. Particles accelerated to impossible speeds shredded the woman's HP from 100% to 0, and at the same time, Nai emerged from her shadow once more, crunching a pill between her teeth.

A volatile mixture of chemicals not meant for human consumption. A suicide pill, perhaps, allowing one to surpass physical limitations for the briefest moment.

It was a good thing too, that the flashing lights of the 'Danger Zone' allowed Nai to cast the largest shadow, to draw out the largest net she could, filled to the brim with all the discounted weapon scraps that she had purchased in bulk. This was the third cycle. The last point of time they had before Trinity's special attack became available.

And thus, what Nai's final attack may be fell upon Trinity, an avalanche of rusted metal drowning out the sirens as they sought to bury the mascot with quantity alone.

Morte watched as lasers shot out in all direction from Trinity, dodging nimbly in her space all the while watching on with an amused expression. That was until Trinity entered in their space, stopped, and warning was sounded followed by a beam of bright light entering her vision. It took only a couple moments before Morte was no more, vanished into speckles of dust in the air.

... And then, almost as quickly as she had disappeared, she was back, revived.

She immediately sprung into action, expression unreadable as she dodged backwards and into another space diagonal from Trinity, sirens blaring around her as she once again grabbed onto the strings around her, turning them into physical essence and lashing them out towards Trinity, before snipping them from her grasp and moving onto her next attack.

Another pair of scissors appeared in her hands this time, and like boomerangs she tossed them at Trinity's body, the magical objects flying around her and cutting at her in various parts almost as if on a planned trajectory, before spinning back towards Morte, the latter catching both of the blade enclosed in her hands. She takes a step back as heavy breaths exit her body, her mouth finally pulling upwards into wide grin, relaxing for a moment.

"Exhilarating."

A player fell into the tiling. Thankfully, she was only unconscious here-it meant that he felt little qualm with using the only revival skill available to him at the moment.

❰ Animate Dead ❱

Askera was also grateful that the names of skills were only shown in his UI. People being revived, the researcher found, would just be told that they were being revived with no indication as to what had done the deed.

Even though this was but a trial fight, he didn't want anyone stressing out about possibly being considered a zombie or something. Askera had no time to ask if that girl was okay-he had to move, to get away from the immediate danger.

"Scatter!"

This was all that he spared his breath to shout. Hopefully someone would listen to him. They might end up in a bad situation if they didn't. As he caught his breath, the researcher watched the sparkling dust from the burst of power settle, nursing the wound in his shoulder...

The smile that tugged at her lips became short-lived after the initial realization of Trinity's intentions finally sunk in. A flash of azure light all but consumed her vision, which paired with the reduced bodily autonomy, left her more than suitable prey to the mascot's dance.

Her heart raced louder than the blaring sirens that hovered over their heads, heralding the incoming of what she could only assume to be a punishing strike to those involved. Already had one of their number fallen to deadly strikes and swirls, returned from a haze of color as a warrior born anew by the magics commanded by another.

"W-We're almost there! Steady... Steady now!" The summoner, too, refused to be outdone with their goal within reach. Three pages of her grimoire torn, they grew and swirled around the space where she stood, enveloping the injuries of her allies as if they were bandages just before she dashed away from the area.

When the dust had settled, she would only see someone standing in the thick of warning signals and metal scraps, unwavering in their assault, unyielding in the face of a self-imposed fate.

Rael clutched tightly at her clothing, suddenly overcome with a shortness of breath born not out of the extenuating circumstances of combat, but something else in its entirety...

Was this how it felt to be inspired?

Cycle 4
Trinity Center: Battle Arena

Trinity's body shined bright after taking a relentless series of attacks. A sound very similar to old-school RPG level-up tunes resounded and her SP would be refilled completely. She twirled back away from the party as her HP reached critical levels but her cheery personality did not change.

A pose was struck to celebrate a great level up for your favorite mascot!

"W O O T as you say in text speak! Level up!"

DANGER!!
The destruction came.

An explosion of energy manifested The damage would cause Nai's UI to literally tremble as it attempted to keep track and her vision ended. The others had successfully pulled away in time. However, this test was not quite over...

Blasts came from her fingertips as she fired at Rael. The advice and cheering for the healer was over. Now Trinity was aiming to end the challenge,

"Reviving when you can't die?! TIME OUT kay?"

Her fingers and thumbs touched, generating triangular energy that would expand quickly going from 2d to 3d. A kiss and wink like the perfect mascot would send it shooting toward Askera. He would be absorbed into it and find himself unable to breathe inside! His body felt like it was under extreme pressure as if he was diving deep under the ocean yet no water was present.

The mascot of Terrasphere offered Morte an enthusiastic smile, a finger snap, and a wave. Another Danger Zone appeared as she did.

"All up to you now Morte!! Hehehe!!! Stage set! End phase!!!

Her hand shot into the air, her legs spread and the circling runes beneath her changed from circling to flowing vertically up all around her. Her mouth moved as if she was speaking but no sound came out...

Currently inside of GBJ, soon to take 99 damage

...How unfortunate. It appears that he had fallen into a trap of being timed out. He couldn't hear anything from outside, and it seemed that he had nothing to do but to struggle against the walls. Well, he had been going to test his breaching charges anyway, and hopefully Trinity would be unable to attack him from outside of the confines of these evil walls that appeared to be closing in.

Trinity later. Breaching charges first. He placed them upon the wall, ready to begin the first round of structural weakening...

The delighted expression on Morte's face quickly fell as Trinity went back into attack mode, and she watched on quietly as two of the other players working with her disappeared into dust like she had done not too long ago. Letting out a long sigh at the overall state of the team, she dodged forward and away from the danger zone once more until she was near enough from Trinity to do damage, glaring daggers at the large blue haired girl.

She throws one quick look in @Askera Question's direction, tsking loudly under her breath at the state he was in, "Great." Looks like it was down to her, and honestly as much she wanted to take the cheery mascots annoying energy down a peg with a scissor to the face, she knew this situation wasn't looking much in her favour.

Either way, she threw a pair of her scissors forward once more, the blade tearing through darkness and into Trinity as they flew up through the air, coming soon back down and into her hands once again

Cycle 5
Trinity Center: Battle Arena

Trinity's HP were flashing... the challenge was almost over but once again her levels increased. An explosion went off behind Morte but the lone capable Traveler would be make a last attempt to attack the mascot.

"78SYHEV H9JNIDME OCU7UDJDK 28373U38H"

Complete gibberish burst from her mouth that caused a glitching sound throughout the chamber. Trinity's eyes would open and her hand would come down as the runes around her scattered outward like a number and alphabet soup.

Three rays of azure would descend from the circling stars above. Each targeting random areas of the arena and causing explosions of crystalline blue upon each impact

The beams would prove lethal if they connected with the violet-haired woman. Perhaps she could have struck just one more blow and brought a victory for her downed team and the suffocating researcher.

Unfortunately, this was not that timeline, not that thread of Fate.

The very first of the three to fall upon the field would consume Morte.

HP=0

Trinity would halt her attacks now. Her long twin-tails settled down behind her. She would walk over to Askera and remove the field that held him. by placing a hand upon it. As she did this, the party would awaken with their HP filling slowly back up. Wounds vanishing as if they had never been taken.

If it was not obvious, Trinity would make it clear.

"Welp, that's that everyone! I'm sorry to say that you have failed this challenge players. But don't you worry! There is always next time and hey! The test was successful, kay?!

Nodding her head with a smile, she would gesture towards the exit as the beams blocking the door glided to the side as they did when you had entered.

"Thank you for participating in this challenge! It was super fun and I hope you'll come again to use Trinity Center's services, and maybe just to meet little ole me kay?"

It seemed the challenge was indeed over.
These deaths were fake, simulated, and inconsequential...
Take it as a lesson for what The World expects from you Travelers...
Come back stronger, smarter, better...

"Bye bye!!!!"

A sharp intake of breath.

A most unforgiving headache.

Trinity's words of encouragement.

These were the things she came back to, as it would seem the majority, if not all of her team, did. Whatever had caused her to fall during the battle, she couldn't remember, nor did she want to, for there was nothing else to do about it now. With the challenge failed, Rael slowly willed strength into her legs, enough to stand up as she dusted herself off.

"My apologies, everyone..." Disregarding her usual quietness and stutter, the words she spoke were not meant to carry any sadness in them, but to express what (she assumed) would be a common sentiment amongst the group. "It was so close, we almost had it! T-That was my first fight, to be completely honest... Ah..."

Her back turned to Trinity, heading for the exit along with the rest of the group once they themselves were ready, but in the meantime, she would press a hand to the side of her head, willing calm to the pounding headache that signified her abrupt defeat. A room to train in was a room to be warned in, for as merciful as the mascot AI's was, the same couldn't be said of the creatures lurking beyond the starlit walls.

"Next time, maybe? We should be able to, next time! I'll train, I promise!" Came the excitable facet of the elven storyteller, whose pages no longer would be blank in the absence of stories, not when she had witnessed some of them.

All in due time. They had gotten away with a slap on the wrist and encouraging words.

They would not could not fail again.
