One wouldn't be able to find more signs of passing Autumn and approaching Winter in this place if they tried. As the beams of light shone through the tree's majestic crowns, it would make visible that which was normally hidden as well. Long and extensive spider webs, some even flying through the air before they would be caught between the branches. And among it all, swarms of mall flies, almost looking like the tiniest of lights dancing around.

"Very useful. Will make a mental note of the location."

MAI affirmed that she understood the importance of these locations as they finally arrived where they wanted to be. The magical light trying to illuminate its immediate surroundings was in stark contrast to the warm colors of fallen leaves and sun's golden rays. Walking past Hanno, the Magia nodded as she took several more steps toward the stone and stopped only short distance of bumping right into it.

She had already noticed the new icon appearing in her HUD, indicating that her body was absorbing the magical energy and storing it for later use. She would even gently place one of her hands directly on the stone. It felt... strange. Warm, perhaps? As if her entire body was wrapped up in a thin, yet comfortable blanket to ward off the Winter's approaching chill? Certainly not unpleasant in any way.

"Feels good. Like warmth seeping into me, making me energetic rather than sleepy."

Hanno watched MAI approaching the stone, curious about what would be her reaction at the warmth of the powerstone. The Magia soon, not only approached, but followed with a gentle touch on the magical structure. As usual, her expressions were faint and hard to read, but Hanno had already figured out this was just part of her charm.

"Right? It is cozy, yet at the same time not exactly sleep inducing. I do feel a bit of it, Faerins are rather magical, and I have Aura Mastery, so..." Hanno shrugged, taking the opportunity to summon his mana dragonfly wings, stretching them open and fluttering them twice as they brimmed even stronger than before, having a warm smile on his lips.

"So nice-" Hanno said, taking the opportunity to also near his Shield next to the stone, resting her by it, and soon, she rumbled quietly.

"My Shield kinda likes it too." He rubbed the aegis softly.

"Honestly, anyone that has energy enjoys it. But for a Magia, it seems to be even better." Hanno looked at MAI.

Glancing over at Hanno, MAI noticed those strange wings behind his back as he spoke. Not only that, his interaction with the shield that accompanied him allowed the Magia to see more of it too. It looked rather strange, if she had to say. Kinda reminded her of some more silly things that could happen in games, and how player characters could end up looking if they valued stats of equipment over the overall fashion. Only the way he spoke abou it as if it were alive made it extra creepy.

"I see. It certainly seems to be having a positive effect of some kind."

She exclaimed as her hand slowly retreated from the stone. Given how realistic this game tried to be, she assumed that there was no reliable map she could just open in her player menu, so she would have to commit this place and the way to it to memory the old-fashioned way. Which meant that there was a very real chance she would never find it again in the middle of the forest here.

"Are there many of these?"

If MAI's stare on Hanno's wings were noticed or not, the faerin kept it to himself, focusing on the more teaching aspect of their conversation-

"Yeah, there are." Hanno said, turning to face MAI. "Dozens and dozens of them, actually. All scattered through the forest." The faerin said, making a wide and long arc gesture, vaguely to... every direction, really. It was an emphasis of how they were common...

"But only in this region. Out of here..? I've never found them. At most I found some weird variant, but never the same deal." Hanno admitted, resting his back on the stone and looking up at it, always being in awe at the sight of such a wonderful and powerful structure.

"There are many other magical sources to recharge though. Which include other players" Hanno said, tapping his own chest as emphasis.

"So you won't need to worry too much about it."

"I see. That's good."

If there were many, then there was no need to worry. At least as long as she remained within this general zone, it seemed. She didn't plan on traveling out much, but she wasn't entirely confident in her ability to keep it that way forever. But if she ever did go out into this digital world, things could get complicated. Hanno said that there were many sources of magic she could recharge from, including other players, it that would surely not be as simple as it sounded.

Sure, they were here only few minutes at this point, but in that time, her energy barely grew at all. She estimate that she would have to stay here largely inactive for hours to fully charge. What player would be willing to sacrifice that much time for someone they didn't even know?

"If I ever go to other zones, I'll try to be careful about this. Didn't think my choice of player race would have so many mechanics attached."

Hanno chuckled at MAI's words, grinning at her with a nod. "Right? I know this feeling really well. And not just race wise." He side glanced the shield, letting out a breath through his nostrils in the faintest laugh he could muster before looking at the Magia.

"I could accompany you to other zones, if you wish." Hanno suggested. "Even if it is just at the start, if you are more of a solo player. I can show you some tricks too."

He paused for a moment, then smirked. "Talking about tricks, you were practicing some masteries, right? With infinite energy source, this may be the perfect place." Hanno said, raising an eyebrow and looking at MAI, interested on what would be her reaction.

They could put some training into use, especially in a secluded area like this. Besides, they had an interesting training dummy to use if they wished...

Just like Hanno's, MAI's eyes also quickly went to the shield for a second time. Seriously, what was up with that weird piece of equipment... anyway-

"I will not decline an offer like this if it is serious."

Even if it were the absolute bare minimum, it would still be helpful and something the girl could build on top of. Being led to new locations, and being given some advice, it was all rather useful, and the boy was rather kind for offering such things. It did briefly make the girl wonder if he would want something in return, but then she realized he was just patrolling these woods to help others when he could have been doing literally anything else with his life.

"Yes. Planned to practice my masteries in the woods, away from others, so they wouldn't get swept while I get a hang of things."

The idea wasn't a bad one. They were already pretty deep into the forest, unlikely to find more stray players unless they were drawn to the power stone itself. Though, she had to wonder about a thing or two.

"Might be a good place... if these stones are not destructible. Accidents happen."

"Haha, I may not be the most serious person on the planet, but my words are truthful." Hanno said firmly, showing a thumb up and a confident grin.

When MAI mentioned the stones, Hanno shook his head. "These things are nearly impossible to break. It is like King Arthut drawing a sword oit of stone." Hanno shrugged with a sigh of someone that had at the very least witnessed it.

"Besides, no need to practice your masteries on these stones." Hanno clapped his hands, looking at his Shield.

"Ghast, wake up, buddy."

The Shield rumbled again, with a giant cyclopic eye opening on her center, and three pairs of tentacles crawling out of her sides.

The eye looked at Hanno, curious.

"Ghast, this is MAI. MAI, this is Ghast."

"Hannaaa..." She rumbled.

"No, please. Especially when you are in this mode." Hanno scowled, raising a hand in disapproval.

He cleared his throat. "Can you help us out in our training, like a training dummy? And if possible, protect the stone?" Hanno asked.

The Shield squinted its long eye, in an unamused hint before peering at MAI and looking at her intently before gazing Hanno again and nodding with a tentacle.

"No, I more meant that I might not be able to aim my abilities very well yet, possibly hitting the stone unintentionally."

The perhaps somewhat shameful admission of possible incompetence came a bit too late, as Hanno was already taking his shield and revealing just what made it seem so strange and possibly creepy to MAI. It was very much alive. And it could also speak, or at least make noises of some kind. The girl's expression might have remained as mechanically unamused as always, but there was an underlying feeling of... nervousness? Disgust? Frankly she wasn't entirely sure what she should be feeling when looking at the tentacles.

"Um... how is it going to help? Can it do things on its own? Or will you have to hold it. My aeromancy seems to be a bit wild so I wouldn't want to hit you as well."

"Oh, well." Hanno rubbed his neck, chuckling in a sheepish tone. "I mean, Ghast is useful for that as well. She can redirect attacks." He said, looking at the shield with a confident expression.

"If she can move on her own? She can." He said, gesturing for the Shield to come, and she quickly hopped on her base using her tentacles to propel herself forward.

"She is strong!" Hanno said.

The Shield, flexed her tentacles and squinted 'angrily'.

"She is quick!" Hanno added.

The Shield slapped her tentacle on the ground, making herself spin before halting in a tilted pose and wide joyful eyes.

"She is cute sometimes!" Hanno nodded.

The Shield frowned, glaring at Hanno and shifting into the shape of a little faerin girl, "I am always cute, what do you mean?!" She pouted, huffing and looking away.

Hanno ruffled her hair, with the girl turning back into a Shield. Then, he looked at MAI.

"She can go a bit rogue sometimes, but she is very useful for training. And indestructible too!" Hanno ensured.

MAI couldn't help but quizzically tilt her head to the side (perhaps a bit too much from the perspective of someone with a breakable neck) and squint her eyes as she watched the shield suddenly start moving on its own using the slithery tentacles. She couldn't decide if it was more bizarre than anything else she has seen in her life. Unfortunately, no answer was coming to her on that front.

That said, her posture narrowed again when the shield briefly changed into the form of a fae... child? The magia's eyes darted between the shield and its owner a few times before she spoke.

"Similar to her father."

After those simple words, she closed her eyes and tried to think. Well, the faerin boy was offering the shield as a training partner, so surely there was no reason to refuse? But if it turned out that the shield would break in just one attack and some ridiculously high compensation were demanded, she'd call bs.

"Sounds very expensive. But... if you say that it is invulnerable... do I just attack it? Will it feel pain?"

"F-Father..?" Hanno staggered for a moment, letting out a sheepish chuckle. "Well, I guess it do be like that. She is more of a loyal--" His words were cut short, side glancing at the Shield looking at him with sparkly eyes.

"-- A-Anyway!" He cleared his throat, averting his gaze and raising an eyebrow. "What? Hurting her? I mean... maybe in her fake, humanoid form. But as a shield..?"

Ghast rumbled, wiggling her tentacles and looking at @MAI defiantly as she slapped her tentacle on her caparace a few times, as if to show off resistance.

Hanno looked at the Shield, smirking and then looking at MAI. "Oh, seems like she is pumped up now. She is challenging you, Mai." He said, resting his hands on his hips.

"How about a game then? There is a special deal on a cafe by Honeyhome that sells four slice of pie for the price of three. If Ghast get hit enough to get stunned, Mai gets the extra slice. If Mai can't stun Ghast, then Ghast gets it? What about that?"

The purpose of a shield was to protect the one wielding it, take all the damage in their stead. But that didn't mean such tools were invulnerable. Then again, they were inside of a game, so maybe this one... was invulnerable? Regardless, this whole proposal was a bit odd. MAI wanted to find a desolate place to practice precisely because she had little idea as to how her abilities even worked. How could she possibly hit something enough to stun it if she barely knew how to hit it in the first place?

She remained silent, then her eyes fell on the strange shield. No matter, if that thing wanted its extra slice of dessert, so be it. The Magia raised her hand into the air and tried to focus. With the help of auto assist, it wasn't too hard to do things, but she had to turn it off eventually. Using it for the first attack at least didn't seem so bad.

Only, she moved her hand forward as if she was throwing something invisible... and nothing happened. There was a moment of complete silence before Hanno could start feeling something strange. Maybe he even got a bit lightheaded, or started feeling sick? MAI sighed.

"Combination of Astramancy and Aeromancy seems to result in astral winds. More radiation than wind... seems ineffective against inorganic targets at lower volume. Failure."

Hanno blinked for a moment, watching MAI's movements and carefully studying what she was doing. Fluttering his wings, Hanno tried to use his aura to understand what was happening, but before he could fully comprehend it, a vague feeling of sickness made him pause and hold his head, raising an eyebrow when MAI seemed to finish doing... Whatever she was doing.

"What... What were you doing?" Hanno frowned. "I-I mean, I've heard what you did, but translate it into amateur levels of comprehension." He chuckled a bit, frowning and letting out a sigh as he took a step back and rubbed his temples.

"While I wouldn't say it is a failure, but yeah... You didn't stun Ghast. So she takes the extra slice, I suppose" He shifted to look at the Shield, that simply wiggled her tentacles while looking at MAI. "Granted, Ghast is made out of organic matter... Just a dissonant one? I guess?"

In all honesty, MAI wasn't entirely sure how to explain herself again in simpler terms. She would try, but she wasn't exactly confident in her ability to pull it off.

"Space radiation. Mm... real Astral Winds are charged particles emitted from the Sun that can reach supersonic speeds. I was only able to create weak Sun-like radiation. Degrade the body from the inside."

No, that was probably even worse than what she said before. Nevermind, she just shook her head.

"Doesn't matter, it was not effective. A failure."

Clearly, it was not a good decision to go this way for the time being. The idea itself might have just been a bit too complex for her as she was right now.

"Something different might be necessary, I suppose."

Hanno's eyes widened. "W-Wait, buddy. You said you can create a Sun-like radiation?" He held his head, surprised at the reveal. "Even if it wasn't effective, it is extremely strong. Hell, if you manage to ever make it even more powerful--" The faerin crossed his arms, blinking in curiosity.

"Hell, maybe in the future you are even making mini black holes to devour enemies on a battlefield." Hanno chuckled at the idea, granted that would probably be disastrous, enough for him to partially regret pulling out such an idea. He... was sure MAI wouldn't do it, though.

"Well, we have a lot of ways to use mastery, so anything you have in mind would be valid. It is all a matter of practice, after all." Hanno nodded, resting his hands on his hips. "Don't you think, Ghast?" He asked.

The Shield partially uncorrupted, with the fake faerin girl appearing behind it to nod.

MAI remained still, motionless, and expressionless for a little while. Perhaps she was contemplating something? She looked more disappointed then anything. Then, she revealed what was on her mind.

"Even if I could create something akin to black holes, I believe that the game would not allow them to be any more powerful than other spells or forms of crowd control."

In other words, she might have been slightly disappointed that the idea could not be enacted in the full scale that Hanno might have imagined. Oh well, it was still at least fun to think about it and imagine it happening.

"Aeromancy is far more simple, but seems to be a more fitting offensive option... something like this."

Raising her hand upward once more, a sudden gust lifted the fallen brown and golden leaves all around her. It was as if a sudden small tornado formed, only to break up into several individual 'strands' of violent winds, all quickly converging at Ghast's location and clashing into each other. The result was a pressure that created a miniature 'crater' at the shield's location as it pushed the earth beneath it elsewhere. And probably messed up the hair of everyone present at the same time.

"Hmm..." Hanno crossed his arms, pondering for a moment and tilting his head as he considered it. "It wouldn't be entirely impossible. This game isn't a normal one, so there isn't something 'balancing' our skills. Instead, the limit is how far our capabilities can go." He said, looking at MAI and giving her an encouraging smile.

"Maybe by yourself, it wouldn't be possible for be too much, but maybe with the right tools, and the right help." Hanno suggested though he was fairly uncertain himself. All he knew was that there were many incredible feats that he was only capable of thanks to others, so it was pretty much a shared effort.

His attention then shifted to the demonstration of wind magic, making the faerin flutter his mana wings and squint, covering his face as the violent winds made his hair and scarf billow at an impressive speed, enough for it to bring chaos to his head when everything was done.

"W-Woah..." Hanno looked at the results, looking at MAI. "You are pretty strong, aren'tcha? I can't imagine how all of this will come out when you not only have your brain, but the actual raw power to achieve what you want."

Cooperation, huh? Well, that made sense. The game was an MMO, after all. Cooperation was the essence of such games. Of course, the Magia didn't exactly know anyone playing TerraSphere, aside from Hanno himself. And since she didn't know how long she would be playing for, it was somewhat unlikely that she would ever be able to unleash attacks of such a devastating magnitude even if she wanted to. Even in large events, it made more sense to support a veteran player who could do much more than some newbie.

"Strong? No. Ghast didn't get stunned this time, either. "

That was the challenge and she failed it on both attempts, it seemed. The attack might have carried some environmental destruction, as evident by the small hole below the shield, but that was about it. If used against a monster or another player, it impact would have likely been much less than what was displayed for Hanno.

"Too soon for raw power anyway. Only just started playing, after all."

"Not everything is about stunning though... Well, for the challenge we had now, yeah, but like you probably know, not everything is about neutralizing and damaging." Hanno said, resting a hand on his waist, looking at MAI along with his shield, that wiggled her tentacles as she trailed her eye toward the Magia, rumbling quietly.

"Oh?" Hanno rose an eyebrow at his shield, then glanced at MAI. "Ghast thinks you are fairly strong." He 'translated' to the Magia.

Hanno hummed, shrugging slightly. "Raw power will come with time, and honestly, it doesn't take long. Besides, creativity and experience are the true game changers in here." Hanno reassured, though he was most certain that the girl knew most of what he spoke of.

His eyes then shifted upwards, with his hands shielding his eyes against the sun before he peered down at MAI, smiling.

"I guess the sun won't be around for much longer." He said. "Should we go back to a town, or do you want to stay?"
