"Yeah. I picked a trait that gives Magia a sense of taste. If the game wants me to eat, then I wanted it to feel normal."

It was a rather mundane reason to pick up a trait, something that any player could have only a limited amount of. But perhaps such a reason was for the best. TerraSphere was almost like a second life, after all. So if a Magia wanted that life to be as similar to the one they already knew outside of the game, then it was the perfect and most sensible choice to make.

"It tastes very good. Much better than anything I could make. So I am enjoying it a lot."

As she kept on chewing one bite after another, she listened to Hanno and kept thinking about it all. He seemed so excited and positive about everything. A stark contrast to Kyra when the two met for the first time - the fox healer was nothing short of paranoid and seemingly negative about everything. Fear took over and everything in this world seemed scary and ruthless. At first, anyway... she perked up after that.

"Places... people. I am more interested in the people that play this game. Why they play it despite knowing the risks. Especially after experiencing those risks first-hand."

"And you made a great choice." Hanno nodded in approval. "This world has a lot of tasty stuff, be it from creatures that can only be found here, or from fruits and unique vegetables... I remember the first fruit I've eaten here... It was so nice..." He said, just not drooling because he was already keeping his mouth busy with his meal, albeit feeling a bit nostalgic about the memory of him climbing a tree to take a giant purple fruit.

A warm smile crossed his lips at the Magia's words. "Couldn't ask for anything else then, buddy." He chuckled, pausing and tilting his head as she spoke, nodding slightly as he turned to take his drink.

"Well-" He took a sip. "So far, the reasons are from the most varied, at least from what I've learned trying to help newbies and UI-Locked... From escapism from the world out there, being a nice place for you to be what you truly want to be." Hanno said, pondering about it. "... Or from others that simply don't think their lives out there are worth it anymore... And some that just don't take this world seriously at all." He looked at MAI, having a faint expression on his face.

He knew she wasn't like that, and he was glad that he probably wouldn't need to worry too much about her.

Just like in the physical world, people could pursue all kinds of pleasures here, it seemed. But given the digital nature of this game, it might have even be free of many consequences. Could their perfectly sculpted bodies ever get fat if one opted to be gluttonous. Was there such a thing as STDs? And did the adrenalin persist if one wrapped themselves in a protective spell before trying to parkour in a dangerous place without any physical safeguards? All questions that made the girl ponder as she enjoyed her meal.

It was also only natural that there were as many reasons for playing as there were players. Perhaps it wasn't necessarily the reasons themselves that the girl was seeking, but to witness them in action. Those spoke louder than words, after all. If observed carefully, then perhaps, only perhaps... she could glimpse at the truth inside of their digitalized souls. Though, of course, she felt the need the urge to close her eyes and mutter something to herself, internal sigh parsing, as those careless people were mentioned again.

"Even though Mother Kos gave them such a unique chance..."

Hanno watched the quietness of the girl among his words. He couldn't know if she was pondering deeply about it, so he simply continued his meal until some words came from her.

They were faint, quiet like a whisper. Hanno wasn't sure what sort of emotion it carried, but it didn't felt pleased. "... People do what they wish, after all... I'm here myself. Mostly to keep this place as safe and happy as possible for those that are stuck in here, and those that are still safe, but can get locked at any moment." Hanno said, taking another sip of his drink and letting out a brief sigh before looking at the magia.

The curiosity lingered a bit more, and he finally mustered the courage to ask-

"Sorry to ask this, MAI, but who is Mother Kos?" Hanno asked, wondering about it. The girl had spoke of it for a while now, and Hanno had no knowledge of it.

Yes, people would do whatever they wanted. That was the beautiful and horrendous thing about being alive. Something that caused endless frustration and worries for people with even basic empathy. Having such a conversation out loud would probably change people's perception about MAI a fair bit... so instead, she just focused on the man's question. It was in that moment that she realized the way she talked about things could have confused others.

"Mother Kos... or as most call her, Cosmos. The Universe. Just as some people believe that humanity was created by a God, I simply attribute that to Kos. Sorry, it's something I am passionate about, but it can be a bit off-putting and strange for others."

Sure, most people, at least as far as non-religious ones went, would probably agree on something like that. But the girl was just a smidge too passionate for many, at one point even being called weird and some other, far more obscene things.

Hanno reached for more spoonfuls of his meal, letting out a sigh and tilting his head as he looked at MAI with a curious expression. He had truly never heard about it, even if he tried to put his memories to work and try to seek for some place he had heard or read about it.

However, the girl's apology halted his attempt to remember, "It isn't strange, it is what you believe in." Hanno said firmly. "Don't apologize for being passionate about something. Especially if it is a belief of yours." He shook his head.

"If you let someone suppress your passion, it will only hurt you in long term." Hanno said, knowing it very well. Not that he had a big belief in a greater being like that, but he knew the weight and pain of believing on something or an ideal, and becoming a laughingstock because of it. "As long as you aren't harming anyone, it is all good. You don't need to worry about talking this to me."

Then, he paused to think about it. "Cosmos then. The Universe." Hanno nodded. "It does make sense, we do exist because there is an Universe around us. Be it in this world, or the one outside of here." He looked at MAI's eyes.

"You are passionate about Mother Kos since ever?" He wondered.

MAI wasn't sure if Hanno maybe just jumped to a conclusion as a result of an overly-protective personality, but it was a tiny bit strange that he would talk about such things with someone he had just met.

"You weren't doing anything to suppress my passion and a single, or even many different apologies would not do anything of the sort, either."

The girl didn't particularly like being lectured, but something she didn't like even more was people who thought the world revolved around them. She rarely gave such people any of her time, and if she had to, then she would fly right past any suppressing remarks and ignore them outright. After all, trying to fight someone who was as stubborn as a mule was also pointless. None of that applied to this situation, as Hanno even ended up asking more about it all.

"Since I realized life is a miracle that should not exist."

It was a straightforward answer, yet one that would probably have to be elaborated upon. That said, the Magia remained silent for the time being, as she was simply curious how someone like Hanno would react to such words. Did he know anything at all about the subject? Was her perhaps the thinking type? She was eager to measure his response and find that out.

MAI's response was certainly one that Hanno should have had years ago, and it brought him back to the idea that this girl was a bit different from many of the new players of this game. She seemed far more centered than many at least. Rubbing his neck, he chuckled slightly sheepishly.

"Ah, my bad then. I shouldn't have assumed..." He averted his eyes for a moment. "... It is a fairly normal thing. Around here, I mean. It wasn't different for myself in the past." Trying to protect others from things that were his personal experience sure made him look like a silly guy.

Hanno side glanced at her words, turning to look at her again and now mostly poking the food in his bowl, rather than eating it. "It is hard to think this all happened out of the blue." Hanno said. "Life is sure a miracle. One that should be protected... We don't know when or if it will ever happen again." He muttered.

Given how much Hanno seemed to be playing with his food, the Magia was already finishing up while he still had plenty more to go. Maybe he wasn't used to thinking and performing a physical activity at the same time? No, surely not, that would be far too limiting in one's way of life. That said, the fact that he caught on made MAI rather excited, even if she didn't outwardly show it. A rant was about to take over.

"Yes. As far as we understand the laws of the Universe, existence itself should be impossible. Things in general function much like the Newton's third law. There is always an action and a reaction. Things happen only as a consequence of something that was before. Yet, we can only presume that the Universe came out of nowhere... a singularity that, as if simply popped into being out of nowhere. Then, it expanded and created our Universe... the Cosmos that eventually created life in defiance of the static coldness of infinity. That's what I mean by Mother Kos. Just like some might personify our planet as Mother Earth. Life should be impossible, so the fact that we have it alone should be treasured."

After taking for so long, she stopped and let out a sigh, then drank the rest of the lemonade. Good thing he synthetic vocal cords were clearly built to withstand much more than her real ones.

Hanno paused to listen carefully to MAI's words, who seemed to become rather talkative as soon as the topic was introduced. This allowed the faerin to continue his meal, munching his food while he listened and watched the girl's passion flourish.

Hanno couldn't lie at the fact that had more depth than what he usually thought when he considered his life and others... But the fact she voiced life should be treasured was enough to bring a genuine and warm smile to his lips.

"It is really amazing, right?" Hanno said, looking at his bowl and finishing it with another bite. "Mother Kos, Mother Earth as some people say. I'm not a religious person myself, but it is really hard to think there isn't anything. Either someone or something, it seems like it is working by our side." He smirked.

"Just like this world we are seeing each other, that someone created. It holds a whole universe on its own, with people and creatures inside of it... It didn't come out of nowhere, just like in our case." Hanno said, looking at MAI.

"Just for the record, there doesn't have to be some grand force, operating completely unseen to us. Some say that presenting a creator of life that 'made' us with care and love is beautiful while reducing ourselves to nothing more than atoms and chemicals is just sad and lonely... but I happen to think that the work of evolution over such a long period of time that it cannot even be comprehended by us is nothing short of beautiful. 'The chemicals and atoms are beautiful.'"

She felt like she had to clarify, even if just because of the comments she heard many times in the past. Things like 'atheism being same as religion because it made person believe in an absence of a thing rather than in the thing itself'. She was rather tired of such tripe reasoning and hoped that Hanno wasn't something who would argue with her about it all. Though he certainly didn't seem the type so far.

"But... yes. Life is precious. And Mother Kos is beautiful, in my opinion. I am merely grateful to her for making the impossible into reality and giving us all a chance at life, even if she is not a sentient being, but an endless cold space devoid of care for anything."

In other words, even if life was a mistake, it was a beautiful mistake worth preserving.

"You really have some deep thoughts about all of this." Hanno said, listening to MAI and pondering. "I don't think it is reducing us into atoms and chemicals. Like you said, atoms and chemicals are beautiful. They compose the whole world, they compose you. So even in the point of view of a creator, I wouldn't call it a reduction." He said with a faint smile.

As he said before, he wasn't religious, but he did like to be positive about it. If it truly existed a Mother Cosmos, if it existed God, or anything, Hanno can only be grateful for what it or they did.

"I like the way you think, regardless," Hanno said, placing his now empty bowl away, and reaching for the pot that was mostly empty as well, so he could get things clean.

"Life is precious, and I'd like to preserve it as much as I can... Honestly, it is the main reason I keep coming to this game. Aside from its beauty, of course." He paused, letting out a sigh. "It is hard to do it, sometimes. You are only one person, after all."

Deep thoughts... that was a rather normal thing for MAI. One could perhaps say that she was thinking too much about things, event. There was such a thing as a problem of overthinking. Especially in this regard, thinking too much about the origin of the world and life often lead to thoughts about oblivion and the end. Something the girl very much struggled with. Having a company did help her not be consumed by such thoughts, at least.

"Even only one person can achieve much. Though... I would imagine you are not the only one dedicated to protecting others. When I visited a town before, someone had introduced me to the 4 major factions in this world. It seemed like the... Lions something were all about protecting others."

Even at the time she figured it was a group of people who practically existed to ensure this death game was less of a death and more of a game. Some individuals were dedicated like that, and it was certainly admirable. It made the Magia wonder if Hanno were part of them as well.

"I am not, yeah. It is just... Of course, you are faced with situations where you have to choose who to save. And at the time, there isn't someone else to help you to save others. It is tough decisions all over." Hanno sighed, rubbing his neck at the reminder of so many dilemmas, so many people to save and yet so little time to do for all of them.

He glanced at MAI, nodding slightly. "Yeah, the Lions. I'd say every Faction helps to protect the people in their own way, but the Lions Pride are focused on it." Hanno explained. "... I am a Lion myself. Before this game's connection was cut short, I wasn't one, I thought that I could do the saving all by myself, so I was a Monster Hunter instead. I only decided to become one after figuring out I couldn't do everything myself." He admitted.

"I was just immature." He shrugged, averting his eyes as he picked up all the cooking utensils, only leaving the warm campfire on the ground.

There was not much to say. Or perhaps MAI simply didn't know what to say. The idea of being unable to save someone was quite heavy, heavier than something she could carry. A situation she would rather not find herself in, for she knew exactly how it would end. That she wouldn't be able to save either one. A certain memory bubbled up, making the girl feel sick to her stomach as she set aside the long-empty bowl. It was quite fortunate that her synthetic skin would not show any paleness that normally resulted from such feelings.

"Everyone is immature, a lot of the time."

Her response ended up rather simply, only the slightest of comforts in response. Well, what else could have have said to someone she didn't really know?

With the girl's response, it was easy for Hanno to notice that his words may have brought a heavy topic into the table. Pursing his lips, he shook his head, looking up at MAI apologetically. "Yeah, but it is in the past now." Hanno took a deep breath, smirking. "Now I simply do my best to protect who I can." He said, finally cleaning everything up and standing.

"Which may include you too, buddy, if we ever need to fight. Which I hope not, considering you aren't fond to that." Hanno said with a shrug, offering a hand for MAI to stand if she wanted, before looking around.

"It is still a great day though... Which reminds me, you probably already know of Power Stones, right? They are particularly good for Magias." He said, wondering if the other girl had any knowledge on those mysterious structures, that were nothing short of impressive.

"How noble."

The short and somewhat dry response might have suggested the Magia was somewhat cynical, although she did sincerely mean it. She knew that she herself would never be capable of dedicating herself to such a task, so those who could definitely deserved some form of respect. As long as their involvement was actually helping people more than harming them, anyway.

Accepting Hanno's hand, the short Magia was quickly back up on her feet, the wind brushing through her hair once again as if to remind the two of the season, in case they have forgotten. Knowing that there was someone to help was reassuring, but MAI was aware that if this game operated like other, normal, games in at least some capacity, then fighting would be inevitable for her if she chose to stay.

"Thank you. By power stones, do you mean the recharge sites? There was something about them that appeared in my UI shortly after I started the game, but I haven't found one yet."

Thankfully it would take more than two days for her to run completely dry of magic to power her up.

MAI's brief response made Hanno raise an eyebrow, letting out a quiet chuckle. "I hope." He retorted, just as briefly.

Standing, Hanno could take a better look at the surroundings, just before facing MAI, giving a wink when she slipped a thank you, along with the topic of the Power Stones being deepened. Hanno crossed his arms, grinning at her response.

"Yeah! Magias recharge on those." Hanno nodded. "Well, I could just let out some magic to allow you to recharge from me if you ever wanted. But while you are in Brisshal, Power Stones are more reliable." He said with a grin, turning to gesture toward the depths of the woods.

"I am impressed you didn't find one yet. But I can show you one of them. They are pretty neat, and useful as well." Hanno said, ready to take the path he had in mind, if MAI would follow him.

Race-specific mechanics were always interesting. There was also absolutely no reason to refuse such an offer, especially if the stones were actually important. MAI nodded, her eyes wandering over to the seemingly ever-expanding woods that stretched out in all directions as if they were to cover all of the lands.

"Then I will follow. To the Power Stone."

Her original purpose here was to train her masteries, but it looked like that was derailed quite a bit now. Though, in a way, maybe it would be better to practice in the vicinity of something that she could take mana from? She would be expending it by using her abilities, after all. She had not yet delved into the game's systems deep enough to fully understand how these things worked, so it was better to be safe than sorry. Even if all of this seemed relatively risk-free regardless.

With a smile, Hanno nodded at MAI and gestured for her to follow.

As they moved further, the forest danced with falling leaves, sunlight beams escaping through the treetops and highlighting their path. It was a nice and warming sight Eastern Brisshal always held.

"Being honest, though. These power stones are also great for those that aren't Magia. They are powerful sources of magic, after all. So I've heard of people using them to create and craft artifacts... I also use them a few times for some training. They are fairly bulky, and they allow you to recover energy and mana quickly." Hanno explained as they continued their walk, pushing away one last curtain of leaves and dense plants.

As he opened the last path, a small clearing appeared, with a bulky oval stone structure, that brimmed with glowy runes and symbols.

"Ah... There we are." Hanno smiled, turning to look at MAI and gesturing to it. "See if you can feel anything."
