Web-choked Corridor

Occupants: None
Nai slips through the webbing without trouble or being troubled. There's only the occasional rustling of something entombed within the mass and perhaps the glint of an eye from somewhere above...

Make a DC 30 Expertise check to navigate the corridor yourself, or a DC 50 Mastery check to clear the webbing for everyone.

Exits blocked unless corridor is navigated or cleared successfully.

The Southern Gallery
...and the shelves were like mazes, their contents known only to the worms...
Occupants: @Nai (Sneaking)

Trees and flowers grow wild beneath the light shining through the vaulted glass ceiling. There’s a distinctly artificial cast to its glow, and the clouds that skirt the blue sky occasionally falter and jump like a skipping video. Around the walls are shelves, and in those shelves are books - and around them as well, clapping through the air like fish in the water. Other shadows shift through the shelves - long creatures with too many arms, small rats snatching books before being snatched themselves. They seem far too distracted to notice people in their presence, at least for now.

A fountain at the center of the gallery bubbles and spurts clear water, creating a fine mist that reflects in the ceiling's light. Around it are piles of scorched remains - furniture, shelves, and of course, books.

And among the mess, a young woman sits, ashen-faced, eyes bloodshot as she feverishly reads and rereads a tattered tome in her hands.

The Gallery Hallway
"To leave a book unread and trapped behind glass is to deny its one purpose, is it not...?"
Occupants: @Ayna Nietzsche

All kinds of artwork line this hallway - paintings of landscapes, busts of figures you don't recognize, and glass cases. Yet the busts are toppled and the cases are broken and empty - and tellingly, the glass lies outside the cases, and not in.

"EN GARDE!"

A ragged man stands in the room, holding what appears to be a table leg like a rapier. There's a glazed look in his eyes as he jabs the piece of wood at books flitting around him. They dance out of range, only to come back into range moments later. It almost looks like they're playing with him.

"Stay back, fiends! None shall pass so long as I yet stand!"

He hasn't noticed you yet...

The Southern Gallery lies to the North
Half-melted chains hang loosely from the door to the East

Regal Hallway
Occupants: @Askera Question, @Rael

Finally the last book falls, unable to avoid Jubjub's ray. For a moment fire creeps across the cover, then flickers out, leaving the title scorched and difficult to read...

Go----- --- You!
Traveler Gu---- -- -est --------

...the inside seems fine, though! Complete gibberish, but fine.

The Bookkeeper's Office lies to the West.
A locked mahogany door blocks the East.
The Statue Chamber lies to the North.
The Lobby lies to the South.

Receiving Room
From far and wide did the carriages come, each carrying a trove of knowledge within...
Occupants: @Alecto (Sneaking)

The shelving creature continues its feverish work, unaware or uncaring of Alecto's presence. Even when it comes close, it just as quickly moves away, distracted by some other "disorderly" shelf.

Oddly enough, it seems to be missing a few arms.

The Lobby

Occupants @Aroda

As Aroda approaches the tree, it almost seems to hiss as leaves and branches shift against once another. But it's a tree - it can't move, and so Aroda's knife sinks effortlessly into its bark. Too effortlessly, in fact. It tears apart, and revealed beneath is paper - page upon page, upon which meaningless letters are scrawled.

Around Aroda, there's a soft thumping sound, then another. Pomegranates begin to fall around her, staining the white tile with black spatters of ink.

Artifice all around, but she was no longer surprised by it. A ceiling of glass that mimicked, or perhaps simply was a monitor, while flora craft undoubtedly of paper and ink ran rampant over the ground. Shelves, shelves lined with books, were attended to by cowled figures, their mutterings indistinct, indecipherable.

A fountain in the centre, flowing with water. Yet around it were burned books and charred furniture. A curious mess. The home of a woman obsessing over a tome.

A dangerous tome. The beastwoman could piece it together.

Nai glanced over, further northwards, trying to discern what laid beyond the light, but after a few more moments, slunk back instead. Someone was alive. A human was alive.

And thus, an operation to rescue her must be planned.

Askera Question
160 / 160

Location: Regal Hallway -> Ruined Office (1 Movement)

Hell was no longer located in a handbasket for Askera's purposes. It was probably now somewhere further into the library, but he had no intention of figuring that out. There were already two forward teams who intended to challenge the dangers of the library before he did. Askera was not opposed to fighting alongside them, but he had noted that there was a sore lack of detailed investigations being reported through the comms.

Because of this, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Jubjub was ordered to look over the hallway of statues while he himself investigated the partially destroyed office. There were several mysteries that had already come to light in this library, and Askera hoped to find answers that could help the expedition continue... Or at least a cool secret passage or something.

"Alright~! Good as new~!"

Giving a little fistpump in the air, Cynna acquired a Suspicious Rat Drawing, It was a 1-1 recreation of the original shadow rat, at least, in her eyes. Cynna placed it in her inventory along with the tools she had used and decided to move on. It was around then that she heard some kind of commotion coming from the Gallery Hall and headed that way.

***

'Alecto, sounds like something's going on up ahead, I'm going to check it out. If our luck's like the West-end's, maybe it's another survivor. Oh yeah, turns out that the ink is alive or something, I was able to recreate the kobold-rat thing. This is probably a pretty valuable discovery so I'll be bringing the tools I used along. The minions shouldn't care right? They seem more interested in the books themselves. Either way, they could prove useful later. When you're finished with your end, follow after me, I could probably use the back up.'

***

Cynna didn't have time to sneak, if it was a survivor locked in combat she needed to get there asap. Though this wasn't framed as a rescue mission, anything that survivor might know could increase Cynna's own chances of survival. It was her one good deed of the day. Maybe.

Removing a firearm from her case she arrived on the scene to see the ragged man fighting the books. Cynna slowed to a stop and stared for a minute, trying to discern what was going on. Were the books bad? The guy? Were they on the same team? It seemed more like a stage play than an actual battle. Seeing @Ayna Nietzsche , Cynna mouthed a soundless "wtf?" while gesturing to the scene in front of her. Then, shrugging, she called out to the man.

"Uhhhh, hey, are you from MIT? Hello?"

Slowly, Cynna's finger moved to the trigger.

Well that's an odd sight...

Sneaking into the room, Alecto watched as the worm creature sorted and resorted books endlessly.

What a pointless existence, I almost feel as though putting it out of its misery would be a favor. Still, if it's that distracted with its task, I suppose that should make searching the room that much easier.

When Cynna chimed in Alecto listened carefully.

'Well, have fun. I'm going to stay here for a few more moments.'

Of course the ink was alive, everything here is made of ink though the mechanism behind how the ink is animated is still in question. Hmm, if this place is filled to the brim with books, perhaps there's a book that explains this places functions and purpose. Maybe even who built it. Let's see if I can anything of use in this room.

Oh man, it sounded like everyone was getting into some serious stuff. ...On the other paths, any ways. The one in front of her was quiet now, with all the visible books dealt with, and everyone doing fine as they started exploring again. It was just that weirdo and a stranger together up there, but...Aroda figured she should stick with them, to be backup and whatnot, while the others kept fanning off to do their own things.

So finally, in order to help her new pals, and also to distance herself from that weird tree, Aroda un-parks her ass and gets moving. And for now, she'd be movin' straight ahead, following Askera and that other stranger. As she goes, she figures as long as she's not shooting anything right now, she can spend her time extra charging up her gun. Before, the gun merely glowed a bit, but now, not only was it brighter, it was...humming.

Once she's actually caught up a bit, and reached the room full of now-dead books, she tries to take a closer look at their surroundings. She didn't have a great feeling about that statue room...she gave it a good look with her robo-eyes, and also one of her super fancy magitech tools...a pair of binoculars.

Items Found: Forgotten Tome

Ayna had intended to check the creepy chains, seemingly half-melted, hanging loosely from the Eastern door, but she changed her mind when she noticed @Cynna walking in. Whatever the man was doing with those books, she had no intentions of getting herself involved in them. Men are always weird, and she'd rather not risk herself and the tome she was carrying to that disruptive kind of weird, so she planned to just leave him be, leave him and the books to their weirdness, and carry on with her exploration like a kunoichi from her brother's favorite show. Unfortunately, things don't always go according to plan.

Cynna's presence meant she had to switch it up. Leaving her alone with the ragged man, not to mention those weird flitting books, could prove to be a terrible idea, even though he only had a table leg for a weapon, the books were probably flammable, and she had a...gun? She can probably one-shot him, and the books, right? Ayna didn't want to risk the safety of an ally, though. She could, and would, risk herself, but never others. Not intentionally. Hopefully, the man and the books still didn't notice her, which could be to their advantage.

Ayna put a finger on her lips, gesturing for Cynna to pretend that she wasn't there with her, that she didn't see Ayna, as she sneaked close by, still in the room. Narrowing her eyes at the man, and the books, she slowly and quietly wrapped her fingers on her polearm. Just in case. What the <dolphin sounds> is up with those books, though?

Cycle 3.5 - Scouting

Nai - Scouting North
Average - Name and description
The Northern Gallery
Where the Southern Gallery still possessed some illusion of being a normal library, the Northern Gallery can make no attempts. The shelves are empty, burnt, and broken - many assembled into makeshift barricades. The plantlife slowly creeps over scattered arrows and half-burnt torches, swallowing this boneless battlefield. The only place untouched by the wild growth lies to the north, where the beginnings of a grand staircase spirals into the ground. A barrier of red light sparks and snaps around the stairwell, surrounded by dark ash.

Askera - Scouting Statue Chamber
Average...?
Past the curtain lies a small, round chamber, dimly lit from above. A statue stands in the middle of the room, depicting two larger-than-life figures in painted stone. One is a man, clad in bright armor. No helmet obscured his handsome features, but his face is twisted with scorn. His sword rests at the neck of a scarred and kneeling woman, dressed in tattered robes and bowing a head shorn of hair.

Aroda - Scouting Statue Chamber
Average...?!
Past the curtain lies a small, round chamber, dimly lit from above. A statue stands in the middle of the room, depicting a larger-than-life figure in painted stone. Turned towards the chamber's southern exit is a man clad in bright armor. No helmet obscured his handsome features, but his face is twisted with scorn as he stares directly into Aroda's eyes. His sword hovers over shattered fragments of what must have been a statue of a woman once - now, there are only the pieces.

Cycle 3.5 - Exploration

Web-choked Corridor

Having passed through the corridor before, it's easy enough for Nai to find the right places to cut the webbing away. Dry cords fray like rope, and clinging threads are brushed aside as easily as cobwebs. Soon the path is wide enough for anyone to pass through.

The Gallery Hallway
"To leave a book unread and trapped behind glass is to deny its one purpose, is it not...?"

Occupants: @Ayna Nietzsche, @Cynna

As Cynna calls out, the man turns her way, his frantic gesturing stopping suddenly. He's dressed in clothing similar to the MIT researchers outside, albeit splattered in ink. He stares their way with a bland sort of smile - but there's something in the way his eyes flicker from the books to them that betrays some deeper terror.

"You! What business do you have within these halls, Travelers?" He steps forward, raising the table let to point towards them. "Did you not know this place is a forsaken one? Outsiders are not welcome within these walls!"

His voice is hoarse, and his speech is stilted. Like someone acting a role poorly. All the while the books flit near, occasionally clapping too loud and too close to the man and making him flinch away.

He looks tired.

The Southern Gallery lies to the North
Half-melted chains hang loosely from the door to the East

Regal Hallway
Occupants: @Rael, @Aroda

The hallway is unchanged as Aroda steps in, but it does allow her to see the results of her shots. The books lying on the ground are well scorched and move no longer - they could almost be normal books if not for what they had just been doing.

A loud crack suddenly echoes from the north...

The Bookkeeper's Office lies to the West.
The Private Chambers lie to the East.
The Statue Chamber lies to the North.
The Lobby lies to the South.

Ruined Office
"You are no bookkeeper - you are a gaoler, and one day there will be a reckoning...""
Occupants: @Askera Question
This office must have been nice once, with a wide mahogany desk and display cabinets lining the walls. However it was before, now it’s in a state of severe disarray. The cabinets are shattered and empty and the desk and floor are littered with papers and half-destroyed books. On the opposite wall hangs what must have been a portrait once, but the canvas is all but torn to shreds.

It seems empty... but as Askera enters the room, one dangling scrap of canvas eye seems to look his way, and a low moaning shivers through the air...

Askera searches the room...
Askera locates a Tattered Logbook!

The Regal Hallway lies to the East.

Receiving Room
From far and wide did the carriages come, each carrying a trove of knowledge within...

Occupants: @Alecto (Sneaking)

Alecto finds quite a few strange books amidst the shelves just by skimming the spines. Many of them are newer, more modern - there are a few that seems suspiciously similar to books from outside of Terrasphere. Others are old and dusty with no title whatsoever. A few seem to be little more than piles of parchment with only a cursory binding holding them together.

What catches her eye, however, is not a book within the shelves, but what appears to be an MIT satchel shoved roughly behind one of the shelves. In this place of ink and paper, the smell of drying blood seems strangely out of place.

Alecto locates an MIT Satchel!

As Alecto browses the shelves, the Shelver watches...

A young woman sits on the desk, feet swinging back and forth as she gazes up at the torn painting on the wall. The same woman Rael noticed moments before - a transparent figure with that same not-voice, her analysis seeming to bypass sound to become understanding.

#A place such as this would certainly draw the attention of one who would bear such a title.
#Would this be considered bravery, or foolishness?

She turns her head slightly, one ruby-red eye looking at the scientist.

#The Library has long desired such eager protagonists.
#Will you see this story to the end?

And then she blinks out of sight as a loud crack echoes from the north, followed by a harsh scraping sound, like stone rubbing against stone...

Dungeon Rules

Intermissions: There may be an intermission partway through a cycle in order to provide more information to the party.

Turn Splitting: You may split your resources between two posts. For example, you may spend movement to move to an unscouted room, wait to receive information on where you have moved, then decide to use your action.

Retroactive Support You may use support abilities such as Protect and Buff retroactively.

Move: Bonus Action. Use a point of Movement to move to another zone. You may move through cleared zones, but must end your movement once you've entered an uncleared zone.

Scout: Bonus Action. Us a point of Movement and roll a Quality(Mastery or Expertise) check to scout an adjacent area. Using a second point of movement will give you advantage on the roll. The information you receive is dependent on the result of your roll.

Retreat: Action. Use your action to retreat from a room. Doing so will allow you to avoid the event, but does not clear the room. You cannot retreat from Traps.

Far Scouting
Passive. (Astramancy, Evoke, Hyper Sense, Summon)

You are highly perceptive or have minions that can scout for you. When you Scout, you reveal information about an adjacent zone. The information revealed will be one tier of quality lower than your roll.

Trap Sense
Passive. (Astramancy, Guard Arts, Dynamism, Hyper Sense)

You are quick to notice or respond to traps. You gain Advantage on Save rolls versus traps.

Intimidation
Passive. (Hemomancy, Dark Magic, Animancy, Corrupt)

Your presence cows the monsters in the dungeon. Encountered monsters will not attack on the cycle you first enter the zone.

Swift Movement
Bonus Action. (Battle Spirits, Dynamism)

You can move swiftly through the dungeon. You can spend all your movement to move to any scouted or cleared zone

Sneak
Bonus Action. (Illusion Magic, Shadow Arts, Metamorph)

You can move stealthily through the dungeon. You can spend two points of movement to sneak into a zone without triggering an Event.

Snipe
Action. (Aeromancy, Pyromancy, Ranged Weapons)

You can attack from afar. You may make a Normal Attack with Disadvantage on an enemy in an adjacent zone. If you have Extension, you can attack two zones away with Disadvantage.

Plot Armor
Passive.

The story favors you. If you hit zero hit points, you instead survive with 1 hitpoint and automatically Retreat to a zone of your choice.

Further up, the library faded away, wildlife entwinning the carcasses of scorched barricades, until even that faded away in the presence of a barrier sealing the staircase off from the rest of this library. It would warrant study. It would warrant it later.

In the shadows of shelving, Nai observed her prey as she sipped on a flask of still-hot tea. Two Archivists, cowards who would have only three exits to escape from, two if she positioned herself one. Two books, one that existed to strike, another that existed to enchant. Of the latter, the woman was entwinned, muttering faded lines from cracked lips. But still, the beastwoman did not move. It was a matter of timing. A matter of waiting. A matter of.

A silent ping. A message that promised reinforcement.

Good.

She sent one back to the pint-sized devourer, and then finished the rest of her tea, dropping down quietly to the entrance back down those web-choked corridors. From within her sleeve, a grappling hook slipped out, hanging from hefty rope. One swing, two, and…

Nai struck, her hook flying the distance and punching right through the tattered tome in the woman's hands. With another pull, she tore it out of her grasp, sending it by her feet, where she unceremoniously stamped her heel down against its spine and pulled the pages apart.

That was enough to get the attention of the monsters in the room.

She could not expect that woman to have enough strength left to run.

And that didn't matter either way. By the end of this, this room would be emptied of these ink-crafted facsimiles.

Cynna's tail swayed at @Ayna Nietzsche 's signal, as acknowledgement. She didn't want to give away her backup's presence, so Cynna left it at that.

Taking a deep and heavy sigh, Cynna glanced the man up and down. He looked tired. Cynna looked tired. Cynna had even less of a clue what was going on than before. Maybe they could bond over their mutual exasperation.

What the hell am I even doing?

Cynna thought.

I usually push guys over ledges, not talk them down from them. Godammit...

Rustling her hair, Cynna finally decided to answer.

"My dude."

Cynna began.

"You don't know how right you are. You said it yourself: this place is forsaken. And, that's why I'm trying to get out of here, but I'm lost. I've been looking for someone to lead me to the entrance. Think you could help me out?"

Maybe it'd be easier to swim downriver than up, Cynna thought without a whole lot of confidence.

Location: Gallery Hallway
Movement: 4/6
(-2 to Adv Scout East)
Items Found: Forgotten Tome

Seeing @Cynna had a better grasp of the situation than she would ever have, Ayna signaled to her that she would check the door to the East, very curious about the half-melted chains and specifically what almost melted them through. Probably not the books, right? That would be very weird. Still being as sneaky as possible to not alert the other occupants in the hallway to her presence, especially the strange researcher that was battling bad literature, she made her way closer to it and started her investigation. Whatever lies beyond the door wouldn't be as crazy as what was happening in the gallery hallway, right? Right.

Ayna heaved a deep, inaudible sigh to calm herself down, mostly to focus. She was terrible with negotiations, but she was quick and quiet on her feet. The purple-haired Beastfolk knew her limits and her strengths. She was better suited to scouting than interacting with wacko researchers. Besides, she could just run back as quickly as she could if anything bad happened to Cynna. Just one quick zoom to aid another explorer.

As she brushed aside the ripped webbing and peers into the remains of what she knows for sure is a kitchen now, Ludmilla is distracted by a message ping from her comms. The call to arms barely spans a line, her ever-present smile widening at its curt conclusion. The kitchen could wait. She could still temper her base urges for now.

Books. Hostile books. Enchanted tomes; or, more likely, mundane volumes weaponised via magic. Of course, in a place like this, what other enemies would one expect? Perfect.

They would sate her hunger just fine.

Nai had not gone far. The cobwebs left ripped and scattered in her wake were an easy trail to follow, and Ludmilla did not bother to respond to the message before crashing into the room with none of the subtlety the Beastfolk employed in her approach.

Her eyes scan the room quickly. There were the startled shadows, little ratty creatures that were but skin and bone. Not much good as peons, probably not much to eat either. A woman, emaciated and likely under some kind of magical compulsion; was under, now that Nai had destroyed the tome she was poring over. Then, the source of the trouble she had come to settle-

Splaying out her palms towards the floating tome that had somehow turned towards her, sensing her presence, Ludmilla suppresses the urge to salivate and clenches her fingers inwards. The very atmosphere suddenly turns to a crushing fist around the book, slamming it shut to drop it out of the air. Something about it lashes out at Ludmilla with a lance of pain in her arms, something about it intrinsically resisting capture, but it is useless against the strength of gravity.

Ludmilla's got it! Ludmilla's got it! Wanna read it!

Speaking her desire plainly for fear that Nai would destroy the tome like she did with the other offending volume, Ludmilla makes a yanking motion. Like reeling in a struggling catch, the book flops and bucks against her pulling force, unable to break free until the very facsimile of animation is crushed out of its fluttering pages, flopping lifelessly into Ludmilla's hands.

Askera Question
160 / 160

Location: Ruined Office -> Regal Hallway (1 movement) -> Statue Chamber (1 movement)

There was not, in fact, a cool secret passage to find. The only thing in the room yet to be lost to time, he found, was a withered logbook that lie on one of the desks. It was the only one he could find actual content inside of, unlike another to the side that had naught to find inside of the many indecipherable pages.

A ping from Askera's communications rang through his ears. A moment's time passed while he considered the request, and afterwards he accepted to undertake an investigation around the corridor's statues. He, too, had heard the sharp crack of stone.

As Askera approached the hallway, empty save for the scenery and rubble within, he felt a sense of foreboding. It was similar to superstition one would feel around one of the old shinto shrines around his city. Askera quietly paid respects to whatever Kami may lie within the stones, just in case they wanted the respect.

Cycle 4 Intermission - Scouting

Anya - Scouting East
Average - Name, description, exits
Rare Books
Books stand behind glass and bars in this strangely pristine chamber. On the far wall a fountain bubbles, a woman bent over a broad pool weeping black tears into the basin and filling the room with the sharp smell of ink. A podium in front of the fountain holds a singular book, still lying open as if someone had just finished reading it.

Exits: West

Cycle 4 Intermission - Exploration

Statue Chamber
"...and with this, we honor the power of a story powerful enough to damn one for all eternity..."
Occupants: @Askera Question

The sound of grinding stone fills the air as Askera steps past the curtain concealing the statue chamber. The broken pieces of what was once a statue of a woman litter the ground - here an arm, there a foot, the head still resting on the podium. And above that ruin is the other statue, turning towards him with slow intention.

Perhaps Askera has looked into the history of the land, and into its gods in particular. If he had, he would recognize the depiction of Tyldr, the god of light and chivalry. But there's none of that radiance around this statue - it merely a carved hulk of heavy, enchanted stone, moving slowly in Askera's direction.

The book is ripped uncerimoniously from the woman's hands. Clarity seeps back into her eyes as she squeezes her eyes shut, wobbling with weakness. "What was I...? The book, you destroyed the... but why did..."

She mumbles to herself, a hand pressed to her head as she looks up at Nai and Ludmilla. "You... you're Travelers, too? We have to get out of here... it wants us..."

"The entrance... yes, the entrance!" There's a moment of hope in the man's eyes as he latches on to Cynna's words. The table-leg lowers as he seems to search for words - and all the time the books around him seemingly grow more agitated.

He clears his throat with an unpleasantly sticky sounding cough. "Far be it from me to- to let a pair of ladies wander about unprotected! Let us make haste to the exit-"

As the word "exit" falls from his lips, the books erupt into chattering cacophany. The man seizes suddenly and coughs painfully, hacking up red and black into his hands. "No, that was in character, I-"

He looks up at the two, then gestures desperately towards the east. "That room, there's a- burn it! Please!"

With @Ludmilla Orphys's timely arrival, all active threats were neutralized, and Nai caught the emaciated woman before she could fall. Her flesh was clammy beneath the beastwoman's hands, but what was more troubling was how she spoke about being a 'Traveler' as well. Was the compulsion of this library so powerful that it could cause madness similar to that of the Red Fever, preventing players from even logging out?

Similar to Red Fever, in how this all lead to demons in the end, monsters coded in such a way as to maximize psychological damage?

"Ludmilla, watch our backs and I'll give you something nice to eat. We're exfiltrating her."

Before the rumbling she heard through the walls manifested into a creature of greater might, before the movements of the rest of the scattered party drew any less-cowardly facsimiles in their direction.

And, of course, she had to ask.

"You're a player too?"

Giving @Cynna a quick nod to gesture her agreement to the plan, Ayna swiftly sneaked into the room while pointing her polearm forward like a blind man's cane in an attempt to not look at the book while also not bumping into anything painful or gross. Getting all that ink out of her clothes would definitely be a nightmare. Well, for whoever she'd hire to do her laundry of course. She could always just hire someone else to do that for her. If she wasn't feeling like it.

Scrunching her nose at the overpowering scent of the room, she focused on the memory of what she had gleaned from her earlier scouting. What else would they need to burn if not the singular book lying open on the podium in front of the fountain? But how would she burn it? And was the ink even flammable? Wary of all that and more, Ayna charged the tip of her weapon with lightning and tried to do a little tasing on the book to test what would happen with such a small amount of energy. Come on, random page I'm not even looking at! Burn already! Let me know if your ink isn't flammable. Or do I need more oomph to sizzle your paper-izzle?

A satchel... that could be useful. But if I make a move for it there's no doubt in my mind it will attack judging by the way it's eyeing me. Still, whatever's in that satchel could prove to be invaluable. It would be a waste not to take it. Not to mention I have no doubt I could defeat the worm if it came to it. Still, getting into an unnecessary brawl is fairly pointless. Oh, what to do, what to do?

Alecto looked to the satchel then back at the worm and sighed.

I suppose if it comes down to a fight it comes down to a fight. Whatever is in the satchel could be too valuable to let loose. Though to be honest, I'm going to be pissed if there's nothing in it.

Moving as stealthily as possible, Alecto crept down and reached for the satchel, and pulled it loose.

Okaaay!

Cheerily answering in the affirmative, Ludmilla begins to stroll about the room. Ostensibly pacing as she begins examining the spoils of her tug-of-war, the now-still tome in her hands, her eyes flick up sharply every now and then to scan the surroundings and keep track of everything that moved.

It was a wary gaze despite her seeming aimless pacing, one that held all potential dangers in her sight as she drifted to the opposite side of the room. @Nai would not be disappointed.

Let's see what's inside~ let's see what's inside~!

Muttering her excitement, Ludmilla feels the material of the tome bindings under her fingers. She first takes in the title of the volume, then begins eagerly turning it over and opening to the first few pages as she leans on a bookshelf. All the while, her watchful presence all but indicates an intent to let nothing slip her by.

Aroda focused her gaze down the way as Askera came back to check the way ahead...where that spooky statue was acting up. And as he got closer, Aroda's eyes widened as the statue...squared up. If before the statue had looked threatening, it now looked like she should start shooting it before it squashed the researcher man.

Anticipating the power of this shot to be a little much to handle, even with her extra-durable limbs that seemed made for this sort of thing, Aroda drops down to the most stable position she can...lying prone. When this gun was charged up, the kick could be...extreme. She'd already experienced it, so a bipod was already attached and ready for use. And to be honest...this whole setup, was still pretty dang cool. She seemed like, a real professional sniper, or something, when she was doing this.

So, she'd take aim, while speaking a simple order through the comms at Askera.

"I'll try not to shoot you, so you try to stay out of my line of fire, okay?"

And immediately she fired, an even brighter streak of lightning accompanying the deep boom as the electrically-overcharged projectile is fired at what some may call 'ludicrous speed'.
