"You're speeding towards another shot, Val."
"Y-Yeah, I know...!"

There was a pout on her face when Ari reminded her of their contest, but she couldn't help asking more—she really did want to learn more things about the man sitting besides her, even if realistically speaking nothing major would ever come out of it. "I sucked at most sports too, except softball... oh, and running too I guess. Always joked it was just a Sagittarius thing whenever my coach commented on my speeds." It was the main reason why she'd been quickly designated as first bat, aside from having good enough control where Valeria could bat in the direction she chose the girl was just a little speed demon when it came to getting onto bases... and stealing them, too.

"True... hobbies and passions are fun because you do them when you want to do them." That had been a hard earned lesson for the blonde when she had first started streaming, suddenly playing video games had felt more like a chore than a fun activity, though Val liked to believe she had found a decent enough balance now that she could enjoy them while also making a living from it. "U-Ugh... fiiineee, I'll drink."

Softball and track just didn't sound as exciting as Okinawan-kempo and kendo... and they both surfed so she couldn't use that as possible leveredge. The empty shot glass was pushed closer to Ari then. "You can do the honors."

Ari chuckled as he picked up the bottle of sake. "Ask, and ye shall receive," the man said as he filled her shot glass to the brim. He then filled his own glass as well, having decided he wanted something other than water. "Cheers," he said as he picked up his glass. Just because they were playing a game, didn't mean that the man couldn't partake in some liquor as well.

"So, did you do track too?" the man asked, having no clue how school sports actually worked. Was that one seasonal? Did it conflict with softball? Hell if the man knew.

Noticing that Valeria hadn't touched the liver, the man chuckled softly. "Don't like liver I take it?" he said as he reached over and took the stick of innards back. That was fine with him, more for him. The man took another bite of the meat.

"Cheers~" Her glass clinked against his softly, before the blonde took a deep breath as she prepared herself for the third shot. She managed to slam it back like before, but the burn was certainly more prominent now as it caused her to hiss slightly in response. "Not q-quite——wheeew, that thing kicks more than I originally thought."

It took a moment for the girl to continue, her hand reaching for another sip of water. "We didn't had a track team per se, but there was a lot of in-school contest, especially when Field Days rolled in." It was her speed that had gotten her noticed by their softball coach to begin with back in Puerto Rico, and later on when she had moved to the states the blonde had excelled enough to join the team from her new high school.

"Don't like liver I take it?"
"K-Kinda... I've tried liver before but I dunno, it always feels off."

Maybe she just hadn't tried the right method yet, but so far the very few times Valeria had tried it she hadn't been too happy with the end results... a miracle for the very food motivated blonde.

Their glasses clinked together for a third time before they both knocked back their shots in one go. Squeezing his eyes shut and pursing his lips together, Ari shook his head as he forced the sharp spirit down his throat. "Whoo, yeah, we're gonna feel this in the morning," the man laughed, noticing that Valeria had had a similar reaction.

"Mm, so you took home the first place medal every year, right?" the man joked, bumping shoulders with her as she recalled the Field Days of the past. The hundred meter dash had been the only thing that Ari had ever remotely come close to winning. Swift on his feet, he'd managed to score second place, only because there hadn't been any track runners in his PE class back then.

The man shrugged as Valeria explained her distaste of liver to him. "Yeah, I get that. I know it's not for everyone but I'm fuckin' weird, I dunno," the man chuckled before picking up and gently shaking the bottle of sake. The liquid within sloshed around within, still more than half full. If only a few shots already had his cheeks numbly tingling they were in danger of struggling to walk back to the hotel if they kept going.

"Ok, hear me out," the man said, setting the bottle back down and looking over at Valeria. "I dunno that drinking this stuff is a good idea, so what do you say to packin' our food up, and taking the bottle back with us to the hotel so we don't faceplant later? Could always get some room service if we're still hungry later."

She could feel the tingling sensation at the very tip of her nose, a tickling sensation almost, before the numbing spread slowly towards her cheeks. It was the very telltale sign of her body that she was getting tipsy already, rather quickly even though she'd been mindful to eat and drink water in between shots.

"Mmm, not quite... I was actually very tiny when little, so I'd get steamrolled quite easily no matter how hard I tried." There was a soft shrug given, her hands reaching for the glass of water once more and taking yet another sip. "It was usually a popularity contest too... and I wasn't really the most popular around."

Too abrasive some would say, and a natural aversion to bullshit really—she had enough to deal with back at her house to actually bother with it at school too. "One day they were short so I got subbed in just because... and I steamrolled the competition." The newer softball coach had noticed then, and he'd been quite determined to get teh girl into the small local team the school had... the rest after that was history as they say.

"Yeah, I think that's a good idea," A soft giggle escaped the girl as she leaned in just a little bit closer, her shoulder bumping against his softly. "Probably not the best idea to walk the streets of New York wasted, especially with how late it's getting."

"...And I wasn't really the most popular around."

As soon as Valeria had said that, Ari gave the woman a skeptical look. "I don't believe that for a second," the man said, rather emphatically. "I mean, you're hot, and you've got a great personality. I'm calling bullshit," he said, becoming more aware of how the alcohol was loosening his tongue. Sure, kids were fickle and cruel sometimes, but it was hard to imagine a young Valeria as anything but popular.

As the girl leaned in closer to him giggling, the man found his hand drifting to her thigh again, giving it another gentle caress and squeeze as she agreed to go back to the hotel with him. "Yeah, definitely not a good idea," he affirmed with a nod and soft chuckle before raising a hand to grab the waitresses attention and ask for the check.

The two chatted idly as they waited for the check come. The two argued briefly for a moment before Valeria had suddenly snatched the check away from him, refusing to let him pay. Relenting, Ari had let the girl pay (though not without making her promise to let him pay for their breakfast the next day), and soon enough, they'd gathered their food in boxes and bags, and had set off on the short trek back to the hotel.

"So, do you wanna go to my room, or yours?" the man asked, wanting the girl to choose whatever she was most comfortable with. "I don't think that the bar will let us walk in with outside food or drink."

"I'm serious, really." She couldn't help the light chuckle that escaped her lips as Ari gave her the most skeptical look ever. "I wasn't born like this, Ari, I went through an ugly duckling phase just like most kids do."

A soft shrug was given, before Valeria decided to add another tidbit of information. "I also had a shorter fuse as a child, and I socked quite a few people in the face~" Honestly she'd gotten lucky that she hadn't been expelled from the school in one such incident.

His hand was back on her thigh once more, the soft caress causing her skin to tingle and tickle slightly, before the two continued to chat softly until Mikaela came back to check on their table. There was a small argument when the time to pay came, but the blonde proved to be the quickest of the pair as she'd snatched the receipt up while sticking her tongue out to Ari—to their waitress own amusement too. Before they knew it everything had been packed up and they were already on their way back to the CIVILIAN hotel.

"Yeah, I don't think the bar would take kindly to that, after all the whole point is to make us spend money on them." However Valeria wasn't sure how presentable her room was after rushing out that morning, the blonde having spent a good amount of time going through various outfits before finally sticking to her choice and not bothering to put the discarded clothing back into her suitcase. "We can go to yours~"

"Nuh uh, I don't believe it," the man said, shaking his head slightly. "Pics or it didn't happen."

"Sounds good then," the man said with a smile. Their hands brushed against each other's as they walked along, and on the next, the man caught Valeria's pinky with his, loosely wrapping his finger around hers.

"I'm glad I bumped into you today," the man admitted as they passed under the streetlights, a soft smile on his face as they went. "And that's not the alcohol talking, I promise," he chuckled. "I had a lot more fun at the festival today than I thought I would. So thank you for that." He'd expected to enjoy himself, at least a little, of course. But large festivals like the Mega Summerfest wasn't usually his kind of thing. But this time, he'd had a blast. And the man was certain that that was all thanks to the girl at his side.

"Fine, but only if I get to see pics of you too Ari. It's only fair, after all~"

His hand brushed against her once, and by the second time their pinkies had already found each other once more. She'd leaned closer, bumping her shoulder against his as usual, before their fingers loosely intertwined with one another. This felt nice, he felt nice, and the blonde couldn't help the silly grin that tugged at her lips as they continued walking down the street.

"I'm glad I bumped into you today."

His words caused the girl to look over at the man, her gaze directly staring into those brown eyes of his, before the blonde gave his hand a soft tug through their entwined pinkies. "Me too... I never knew Mondays could be as exciting as today has been." Her cheeks flushed softly in response as he thanked her, the alcohol in her system no doubt aiding in that process.

"I meant it when I said my luckiest moment today was meeting you, Ari."

"Oh hell no, I was an ugly ass kid, ain't no way in hell you're seeing those pictures," the man said with a laugh.

"I never knew Mondays could be as exciting as today has been," Valeria said. Ari had been about to make a joke about Mondays as well when she suddenly caught him off-guard. "I meant it when I said my luckiest moment today was meeting you, Ari."

The man couldn't help but look over at her, the faintest look of surprise on his face. Eyes slightly widening, lips slightly parted. The man forced himself to tear his gaze away from those beautiful ruby colored eyes, setting his sights on the ground ahead of them as they walked. "You shouldn't say that right now," the man said, unable to keep a faint smile from tugging at the corner of his lip. "I'm a bit tipsy, you're pretty, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't like you a bit. I might kiss you."

"Tuut tuut, guess you're not seeing mine then either." She couldn't help but stick her tongue out teasingly to the man as she spoke, her pinky tugging at his once more. "Also I doubt that very much, I bet you were adorable~"

Her next words had caught him off-guard, she could tell by the way his eyes widened just slightly even as his lips remained parted with unsaid words. The look of surprise on his face was a new one for Valeria, one that she actually enjoyed to see too, and as his eyes turned away to look at the sidewalk ahead she couldn't help the light giggles that escaped her lips.

"You shouldn't say that right now."
"Mmm, and why's that?"

Valeria's eyes returned back to look at Ari's profile, catching the faint smile that tugged at the corner of his lip. She had been about to make a comment, another little teasing attempt, but the man was faster on the draw this time around. "... I might kiss you." It was the blonde's turn now to gaze at him in surprise, her lips slightly parted for a moment before they closed.

He thought she was pretty, but more importantly Ari actually admitted that he liked her a bit too... a sentiment that the blonde certainly shared towards the man besides her. She could feel the heat pooling atop her cheeks as a blush began to form, and before Valeria knew it she had leaned closer still to Ari.

Lips softly pressed against the skin on his cheek, emboldened perhaps by the alcohol running through her veins even if right now it felt like Valeria's heart was about to burst from her chest. It was quick and fleeting, done almost as fast as it had started before the blonde pulled back to look at Ari with a shy smile.

She was silent for a moment. The man didn't say anything either. His eyes stayed fixed on the Civilian Hotel sign illuminating the street below. He wasn't sure what he'd expected to happen. Nothing, he supposed. That they'd just walk to the hotel with that secret shared between them. That they'd get to his room, sit down, crack open the bottle of sake again and just let whatever happened happen.

But instead, she pressed her lips to his cheek. Soft and tender. Somehow, it felt far more intimate than any kiss on the lips. A bloom of some unfamiliar emotion spreading through his chest. The man didn't dare look at her. He simply allowed that small smile to spread across his face into a content grin. The pinky left hers for a moment for him to fully grasp her hand, entwining their fingers together as they walked.

"Almost there," he murmured.

She had kissed him on the cheek... she had actually dared to kiss him on the cheek!

Valeria couldn't help the giddiness that absolutely flooded her senses, the blonde still perfectly aware of the tingling feeling that remained on her lips long after she'd removed them from his skin. The blush on her cheeks had deepened considerable by then, her eyes having quickly shifted away from his face—suddenly staring in the direction of the sign for the CIVILIAN as if it was suddenly the most interesting thing in the world... though she couldn't help the radiant smile that adorned her face.

"Almost there."
"Mhmm..."

She felt his hand pull her own closer by their pinkies, before his had shifted to encompass her own quietly. Little prodding was required when he looked to interlace their fingers, the blonde more than happy to do so before giving his hand a soft squeeze. A warm feeling flooded her chest, her heart still beating rapidly within, before she echoed his words.

"Almost there."

The rest of their short walk went by in silence. Just the two of them, enjoying each other's company among the crowds of New Yorkers. The city lights and sounds late night traffic serving as the background, easily forgotten.

Little changed between the streets and hotel lobby, hotel lobby to elevator. The man leaned against the back wall of the small space as it ascended to the seventh floor, where his room was located. But even for the short duration of that trip, Ari didn't let go of Val's hand.

It wasn't until they got to his door that the man finally freed the girl from his entangling fingers, reaching into his bag for his wallet, grabbing the key card and swiping at the lock. A quiet beep, followed by the click of the electronic lock releasing signified that the pair could enter.

Ari pushed the heavy door open into the room. It was pretty much exactly what one would expect from a small hotel space like this. One large bed, a night stand, a desk and chair next to a TV in an entertainment center. Pulled back curtains let the bright New York lights in through the glass doors that lead to the balcony. A suitcase lay open next to the bed, pushed against the wall, a pair of jeans and a tee shirt haphazardly tossed into it, travel clothes most likely.

"Wanna sit on the bed, or go to the balcony?" Ari asked as he set the bag of food down on the small desk and pulled out their leftovers and the bottle of sake.

Silence fell upon them during the rest of their short walk, an unspoken agreement in place by both parties as they chose to quietly enjoy the company of one another. Their footsteps carried them through the streets of New York, with the blonde paying little attention to the background sounds of the city that never sleeps—easily forgotten as her attention remained focused on the man walking besides her.

They were awash by a warm and orange glow upon reaching the hotel. Their steps took them through the main entrance and into the lobby, reaching the elevators before claiming one as their own. He'd leaned against the back wall of the small space as it ascended to the 7th floor, while the girl besides him chose to rest her head against his shoulder instead. Through it all her hand had always remained nestled within his own, the feeling of their interlocked fingers feeling like the most natural thing in the world.

By the time they had reached the door to Ari's room the blush on Valeria's cheeks had mostly abated, only a faint rosy tint left behind. It was only then that they'd finally released the hold on one another, the freed hand now carefully raised to tuck a few strands of hair behind Valeria's ear. With an electronic click the lock was finally disengaged, the heavy door pushed open as the girl was finally granted access within.

The inside layout was almost a carbon copy of her own, expected considering they had both booked the same hotel. The only difference was that her own had been on the opposite wall, higher up in the 21st floor, which meant her layout was inverted compared to his room. "Wanna sit on the bed, or go to the balcony?" His voice had called out from the entrance of the room, the man placing down the bag of food on the small desk as he carefully began pulling out the bottle of sake and leftovers from within.

"Balcony~ I'm curious to see how the view from New York looks from this side of the building."

She had already began walking to the sliding door by the end of the room, unlocking it with ease and allowing a soft midnight gust to flutter into the room. Her steps took her outside and over to the railing, carefully leaning on it as her eyes scanned the nearby area while enjoying the cooling breeze.

As they'd waited in the elevator, Valeria had gently rested her head against Ari's shoulder, and the man had tilted his own towards her slightly, closing his eyes. He was tired, but at the same time, he didn't want this night to end. It'd only hasten the end of their shared time together, however long that would last.

"Balcony~ I'm curious to see what the view from New York looks from this side of the building," Val had answered, unlocking the sliding doors and letting the cool night air into the room as she stepped out. While Valeria took in the fresh air, Ari grabbed the two clean glasses that'd been left on the desk and opened up their bottle of sake, pouring a couple of fingers into each before grabbing them both and heading out onto the balcony to join the woman.

He paused at the entrance, just to look at and watch the girl, silhouetted against the bright lights. Her hair blew gently in the breeze, illuminated by the streets below. The soft curves of her figure finally drew the man in as he stepped up behind the girl, reaching around her with one arm to offer her glass. Once she'd taken what he'd offered he leaned into the railing, holding himself up with his free arm. He could smell the faint scent of her sweet perfume as he stood behind the girl. "It's nice out here," he said quietly as he turned his head and brought his own glass to his lips.

A part of the woman was beginning to feel the exhaustion of the day slowly creeping in, her eyes closing in response as the night breeze blew playfully into her hair. She knew the night would eventually have to end, and the pair did have a scheduled breakfast for the next morning, but even then Valeria found herself wanting to stretch the moment just a little bit longer... however much that could be.

She heard his footsteps as the man walked out into the balcony to join her, a few moments passing before Valeria could hear his footsteps once more as he came closer. One arm reached around her left side, causing the woman to open her eyes as she accepted the offered glass into her own hands. "Thanks." A light sip was taken from the sake within, the alcohol warming her throat slightly as it went down, before she was surprised as Ari chose to lean over the railing while standing behind her. The free hand now served as support for the man as he stood the closest he had so far in the day.

"It's nice out here."
"Mhmm~"

She didn't trust her words to not betray her at that very moment, the glass now safely nursed between both her hands for extra measures—before it accidentally slipped from her fingers and was claimed by the void of the night outside of the little balcony. The hand holding his own glass moved closer, floating not too far from the side of her head as the man took a sip of the contents. It was then she finally dared to turn her face around just enough to look at him, curious to steal a glance now that he stood this close.

The cool liquid slid down his throat, warming him like a fire from his belly as the girl hummed an agreement. It was a nice night. She turned her head slightly, looking at the man from the corner of her eyes. She gave no objection to his presence, and he gave her a soft smile.

The mixture of alcohol and their own personal chemistry urged the man forward, leaning forward ever so slightly, his chest pressing into her back as he craned his neck forward just enough to gently kiss her cheek. Lingeringly so.

He reached leaned back then, just for a moment to place his glass on the small coffee table, accompanied by two chairs. His now empty hand drifted to her waist, a soft caress of skin as he leaned forward again, kissing her on the cheek once more.

There was a degree of uncertainty in what he did next. His nose brushed against her cheek as drank in her perfume, intoxicating. His lips gently pressed to a spot just behind her ear as the hand at her waist cupped her flesh, pulling her towards him ever so slightly, the city lights already forgotten.

She caught the soft smile that lingered on his lips, one that Valeria was becoming accustomed to seeing on the man's face, before it was returned by one of her own. Perhaps that spurred him further, or it could've just as easily been the alcohol that they continued to imbibe throughout the evening, but soon whatever small distance that had remained was closed in it's entirety. His chest pressed against her back, the warmth that accompanied it causing her heart to flutter inside her chest, before Ari had tilted his head forward just enough to gently kiss her on the cheek—the touch of his lips lingering on her skin and earning a soft giggle from the blonde.

He'd reached backwards then for a moment, inadvertently creating some distance between them that caused the lightest of whimpers to escape Valeria as the cool night air quickly seeped into the provided space. The glass and its contents were promptly abandoned atop the small coffee table before the gap was closed once more, the now empty hand finding purchase on her waist before Ari leaned forwards to kiss her cheek again.

The soft pecks upon her skin felt more intimate than any kiss Valeria had experienced in her short life, causing her heart to race as the woman tilted her head backwards until it rested against his shoulder. A soft exhale left her lips before Valeria could feel a shiver run up her spine when his lips pressed against a spot just behind her ear. "Ari..." It felt like a fire was slowly being lit up within her, the matches and kindling provided whenever his fingers and lips pressed against any exposed flesh. She would've turned to face him even without his prompting, her right hand gingerly resting against his waist as her fingers grasped the fabric of his t-shirt ever so gently.

The left held her drink, now long since forgotten as she gazed right into his dark brown eyes—studying them as she searched for answers to questions neither of them wished to voice out loud.

She'd whimpered slightly when he'd parted from her, only encouraging him in his gentle touches and caresses. The soft murmur as she said his name floated in his mind on a foggy bed of alcohol fueled desire. She leaned back into him as he suckled at her neck until she turned around to face him. Her a hand rested at his waist, fingers entangling themselves in the soft fabric of his shirt. He stared back into her ruby eyes. Perhaps it was just the light reflecting off them, but the man could've sworn he saw a desperate glint of desire in her eyes, one that rivaled his own.

He surged forward. Or rather, he drifted closer. Like the rising tide of her native ocean. Slow, but inevitable. He caught her lips between his own. His hands clutched at her waist, pulling her body into his. A short groan of pleasure rumbled from the man's throat as he finally released some small measure of a day's worth growing tension. A hand trailed up her side, the thin fabric of her blouse offering little protection from the warmth of his hands.
