"Wait, you didn't wanna start with the cosplay? You went straight to boudoir?"

Wait... had that actually been a valid option?! The blonde could feel the heat rising to her cheeks, before her hand reached for her own water glass as she took a long sip from it. "S-Shuddup... you said something I wouldn't normally tell someone else." There was a slight pout on her face, though this one was born more out of embarrassment than indignation, before her attention turned to Ari as it was his turn to respond.

"A clown's reject sister...? Pffft!"

Something about that phrase simply got her, the blonde unable to hold back a light laughter in return. "Ari, that's absolutely adorable~" Her free hand then moved close to her eyes, an index finger dabbing away at the outer corner of her eye.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry... I promise I'm not making fun of you, really."

Color flushed Val's cheeks, and it didn't take a genius to figure out that it wasn't due to the alcohol. "Oh my god, are you blushing?" the man teased, leaning into the table and extracting his hand to gently poke at the girl's side. "You're fucking blushing," the man chuckled, a huge shit-eating grin plastered across his face, relentless in his prodding.

Of course, Ari had plenty of time to be embarrassed too. "A clown's reject sister...? Pffft!" The man rolled his eyes as he brought his glass up to his lips, hiding his embarrassment behind the action. "Ari, that's absolutely adorable~"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, laugh it up," the man said as he set the glass back down, half-empty.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry... I promise I'm not making fun of you, really," Val giggled.

The man shook his head, eyes falling to his feet as he did so. "Nah, it's okay," he chuckled as his eyes rose again to meet hers. "She always got a big kick outta it to, so," the man shrugged, "I don't mind too much. It made her happy. Oh, I think that's our food," Ari said, looking over as their server returned holding a tray, laden with a number of dishes.

"Alright, here we go," the woman said as she began to set down each of the dishes, listing what they were again. "And, I think that's everything. Can I get you guys anything else to drink? A refill?"

"Uh, yeah, actually could we get a bottle of that tengumai stuff? It was really good," Ari said.

"Sure thing, I'll be back with that in a second."

The server left again to go get their bottle while Ari looked over all the food. "Oh man, this looks great," he said as he picked up one of the meat skewers and set it down on his plate. "You never mentioned if you're gonna take me up on that challenge, by the way," the man then said, casting a gaze over in Valeria direction as he grabbed his napkin. "Up for it, or are you chicken?"

"Oh my god, are you blushing?"
"N-Noooo...?!"
"You're fucking blushing."

There was a huge shit-eating grin on his face and the blonde knew she'd gotten caught, her eyes turning away for a moment as her cheeks puffed up with an indignant pout on her features. "... and whose fault is that?" Surely not hers at the very least, or well that's what Valeria was telling herself. Ari reached for his shot glass, downing half of its contents, and her hand reached for her glass of water instead.

Their food arrived, and the girl could feel her mouth water as the waitress went over the different items placed onto the table for them. When the waitress asked if they'd like anything else Ari was quick to order a bottle of the Tengumai, a choice that the blonde was perfectly fine with as her hand also reached for the napkins.

"O-Of course I'm gamed," She couldn't help the slight stutter at the start, the napkin in question carefully placed over her lap in case anything fell. "I just didn't think it'd be fair to use that round against you."

Overconfident, her? Naaah...

"...and who's fault is that?" Valeria muttered quietly as the man sat back once more. A stray though ran through his mind for a moment, 'You're cute,' though the man left the words unsaid, sparing the girl anymore embaressment.

For the moment at least.

"O-Of course I'm game," the girl said as the man picked up his glass of water, taking a long draught from it. "I just didn't think it'd be fair to use that round against you."

"Oh, okay, okay, Ms. Confident. Well, it's your turn to ask a question, so go," the man said with a mischievous grin before picking up his skewer and taking a bite. It was still hot, and the man had to refrain from hissing in pain as he carefully chewed the meat. Even still, there was no denying how good the food tasted. A pleasantly savory glaze coating the juicy, fatty meat, hinting at just a bit of sweetness that made Ari crave more.

"Oh right, uuuh, let's see..."

She completely forgotten about that part, the blonde taking a moment to tap her index finger against her bottom lip as she took a moment to think long and hard about this... after all any question she asked had the potential to backfire spectacularly in her face, and Valeria didn't feel like giving Ari additional ammo against her. Not this easily, at least.

"Okay, how about this one then," Her hand reached for one of the skewers—neck meat if her memory served her right—before placing it on her plate much like Ari had. "When you look at me, what animal straight away comes into your mind?"

A simple question, nothing terrible, just a way to test the waters and see how this all went. She watched the man bit into his skewer, a faint hiss escaping him in response to the temperature of the meat that caused Val to chuckle ever so softly. Taking a cue from him she decided to blow on her own a few times instead, finally taking a bite from the skewer before her eyes widened in response.

"Mmm! Okay, that's juicier than I expected..."

Ari took another bite of meat as Valeria thought, the flavorful juices filling his mouth as he watched her curiously.

"When you look at me, what animal straight away comes into your mind?"

The man swallowed before groaning and pinching his nose. "Oh god, what animal?" the man said, a faint smile on his lips. "Okay, gimme a sec," the man said.

Well that question seemed have a lot of potential to backfire on him, depending on what he chose. He definitely didn't want to pick anything that might imply the wrong thing, even if it was unintentional. But that aside, Ari still had no idea what animal to pick for her. He began to think about her traits, her sunny deposition, how she seemed to be full of energy. The exact opposite of himself if he was to be honest.

The man took another drink of water as he finally settled on his answer. "I'm gonna go with hummingbird," he said, setting the glass backdown. "You're pretty, full of energy, I think hummingbirds would have pretty fun personalities if they were people. So yeah, hummingbird," he explained.

"Oh god, what animal? Okay, gimme a sec."

She giggled in response, amused by the way the man groaned and pinched his nose in response to her question. Another bite was taken from her skewer before she placed the last piece over on Ari's plate, after all it was only fair that he got to try the different body parts too.

She waited then for his answer, a hand reaching for her glass of water as she took another long sip—both to keep herself hydrated and also ensure the alcohol didn't rise too fast into her brain due to a previously empty stomach. "I'm gonna go with hummingbird." The response caused her to lift her eyebrows in surprise, it certainly wasn't an answer she had thought of or considered, before she smiled in return as he explained the reason behind his choice.

"A hummingbird, huh? I like that~" Her index finger then tapped on her lower lip as Valeria took a moment to think about her answer for the asked question. "Mmm, guess it’s my turn now. For you... I'd have to say a crow."

Another sip was taken from her water glass before she set it back on the table, the girl moved on to explain her pick. "Part of it is, of course, because of your looks," A hand reached over to touch Ari's hair slightly. "But mostly because of the look in your eyes. After all crows are very smart and sharp... but not a lot of people know they're very mischievous too."

"A crow?" Ari repeated as he swapped skewers with Valeria, raising an inquisitive eyebrow. The man pulled off the meat with his fingers, not wanting to choke himself with the long stick, popping the piece of meat into his mouth as he listened to her reasoning, a short pause in his chewing as the girl suddenly reached out and touched his hair. His skin tingled at her touch, strange because she had only touched his hair.

The man forced himself to swallow before answering, not wanting to hint at his momentary stillness. "Alright, well I haven't heard that one before," the man chuckled. "I like it though." A part of the man wanted to ask what Valeria had meant by 'the look in his eyes', but the man refrained for the sake of the game, and the fact he had no idea how to answer if the question was turned back on him.

"Okay, those were both good answers," the man went on with a smile, picking up his shot glass. "So how 'bout we both drink?"

She could feel the skin at her fingertips tingle softly long after she'd retracted them from Ari's hair, her hand closing ever so softly as Valeria indulged in the feeling a little bit longer. Eventually her attention turned to the skewer Ari traded with her own, holding it sideways before she carefully teased out the last bite on it with her teeth.

The girl couldn't help the smile that crossed her lips when the man mentioned he'd liked her choice, a happy hum escaping in response. "Okay, those were both good answers, so how 'bout we both drink?" A soft nod was given as Valeria assented, the blonde unable to find any fault in that compromise as her hand reached for her sake glass.

"That seems fair, after all I really liked your answer too."

The glass was softly clinked against his own, before the blonde decided to down the contents in one go. After all she apparently had some catching up to do considering Ari's own was already half way empty. The higher volume certainly packed a kick as it went down her throat, at least compared to the milder sips Valeria had been taking before, but she didn't dislike the feeling as the shot glass was set back on the table.

"Alright, your turn now for a question mmm?"

The soft sound of glass hitting glass was followed by a soft thud as Ari set his, now empty, shot glass on the table. Valeria, much to her credit, drank down her entire glass in a single go, the man's eyebrows raising in a mixture of surprise and being flat out impressed. He'd always hated doing shots like that, but she'd hardly batted an eye. "Well damn, you're gonna drink me under the table if you keep that up," the man joked, just in time for the server to return and place a bottle of the tengumai before them.

"Anything else I can get you two?" she asked politely, to which Ari shook his head, "No, I think we're good for now, thanks."

The waitress left, and then it was Ari's turn to think of a new question. The man pulled over his bowl of rice and picked up a small clump of rice with his chopsticks, nibbling at it, as he thought. "Hmm, okay, how 'bout this? One thing you've always wanted to do, but never had the chance?"

He looked impressed, and the blonde couldn't help the slight shit-eating grin that crossed her lips before a couple of soft chuckles escaped her. "Well I had to catch up with you, that way when I win you can't say it's because we weren't even~" Truth be told she rather preferred enjoying her drinks over slamming shot after shot... but knocking one back entirely wasn't a particularly bad feeling once in a while.

Mikaela had returned with their bottle, the server checking in to see if the pair needed anything else, before the blonde shook her head softly as Ari answered verbally for them both. She too reached for her own bowl of rice, carefully taking a couple of bites with her chopsticks as Ari mulled over a question of his own.

"Oh, hmmm, that's actually a good one..." Her brow furrowed slightly in thought as another bite of rice was taken from her bowl, giving herself time to properly reflect on an answer. "I think... yeah, I've always been curious about skydiving."

It seemed like quite the thrill on paper at least, and the few people in Valeria's life that had actually gone through the experience always raved about how exciting and simply amazing it was... there was just one problem, though. "It sounds really cool... but the thing is, I'm also kinda afraid of heights so..." Of course there were other concerns, mainly something going wrong and whatnot, but the first hardstop for the girl whenever she'd considered the possibility had always been the fear at being so high up in the sky... and actually willingly jumping towards nothing.

"So, what about you Ari? One thing you've always wanted to do, but never have."

"Confident aren't you?" Ari chuckled as Valeria seemed to think that her victory was a certainty. "Well, let's see who's left standing by the time we're done. Literally. 'Cause one of us might be carrying the other home," he joked with a cheeky, lopsided smile.

Oh, this was just getting better. "Wait, wait, wait," the man chuckled as he set aside the bowl of rice and turned to look at Val. "You wanna skydive, but you're afraid of heights? That's fucking ironic," he laughed, finding endless amusement in that fact. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I shouldn't laugh," he apologized.

"I wanna go to space," the man answered readily. It seemed silly, but he'd always loved the stars hanging high in the night sky. "When I was kid, I wanted to be an astronaut, look out at the endless void, then back down to earth. I thought maybe one day I'd get the chance to explore distant galaxies." The man picked up his glass of water, taking a short sip as he stared ahead whimsically, imagining what could possibly be out there in the vast expanse of space. "But sadly, I don't think I'm astronaut material, and we sure as hell ain't getting to Andromeda anytime soon, so I guess I'm Earthbound for now," he chuckled, setting the glass back down.

His lopsided smile was returned with a cheeky one of her own, the blonde winking as she gave Ari a little piece sign with her right hand. "At the very least I'm not gonna let you have an easy win~" She wasn't one to throw in the towel after all, though Valeria had a feeling she wouldn't mind losing this particular game.

He was laughing then as the man tried to wrap his mind at the ironic thought that Valeria had presented, her cheeks puffing slightly before th blonde stuck her tongue out at Ari. "Yeah, yeah, laugh it up... not my fault being up high can be scary." Another mouthful of rice was taken from her rice bowl, though the pout on her face did lessen as Ari offered an apology... before her eyes widened just a bit as the man gave his answer as the rice bowl was set onto the table.

"No way... me too!!!"

She couldn't help the excited blurt, her words a bit louder than Valeria had actually intended, before the girl quickly rose her hands to her mouth as she looked around to the waitstaff and some patrons near their table with an apologetic smile. "Sorry...!" If Ari thought she'd been blushing before that was nothing compared to now, the blonde grabbing the ends of her hair as she brought the sides closer to her embarrassed face.

"No way... me too!!!" the girl suddenly blurted out excitedly, before her hands flew up to her mouth to cover it. A pair of customers at a nearby table (coincidently the one they had recently vacated) had looked over them, surprised by the sudden outburst. "Sorry...!" the girl apologized them, her face suddenly beet red as she began to play with the ends of her hair.

Ari couldn't help but let out a light chuckle at the whole predicament as his hand unconsciously drifted to her thigh to give it a comforting squeeze. "Nice," he teased, as he gently stroked her soft skin, before reaching over and grabbing the bottle of tengumai. "I think though," he said, with a confident smirk on his face as he began to refill Valeria's glass, "that means I win this round." He set the bottle back down and pushed the glass towards Valeria.

It wasn't until now that the man realized he'd been touching the girl at all. But once he had...he decided not to remove his hand, instead he thought it better to see how she reacted. If she was uncomfortable, he'd remove his hand, but if not. Well, there was no harm, right?

"Nice."
"... shuddup."

She felt the touch of his hand against the skin of her thigh first, the warmth that radiated from the touch into her flesh giving a feeling of comfort that soothed some of her initial embarrassment away. Magenta colored eyes had turned to look at Ari's face then as he spoke, the pout on her lips now more visible as he claimed victory for this round.

"F-Fine...!"

She huffed softly, watching as he poured the shot before pushing it closer to Valeria, a sigh escaping her lips as her own hand reached for the glass. Once more the girl slammed the contents back in one go, although this time she wasn't as effective at hiding the wince from her face as the alcohol burned a trail down her throat.

"O-Okay, my turn then..." The glass was placed back onto the table while the girl made a conscious effort to not look down at the touch that still lingered on her skin. The contact made her skin tingle in response, though not in a way that the blonde disliked, and it caused the girl to struggle a bit as she tried to focus on a possible question. "Is there a sport you enjoy and, if so, what did you enjoy the most about it?"

Valeria gave no indication that she was in anyway uncomfortable with Ari's gentle caress. Instead, she pouted at him as he slid her glass towards her, as if his touch was a natural part of knowing each other. The man chuckled faintly at the cute expression she cast his direction, watching as she drank down the whole shot in a single swig. Though he didn't miss the small wince she let slip through the cracks this time, the man didn't tease her this time.

"O-Okay, my turn then...is there a sport you enjoy and, if so, what did you enjoy the most about it?" she then asked, claiming her question. The man thought for a moment, removing his hand from the girl's leg as she shifted to pick up another skewer.

"Hmm, I dunno if these count as sports," he said, holding the stick as he answered, "but I used to do a lot of martial arts. Plus I used to airsoft, and surf, all of which I loved. Other than those three, not really." As he finished answering the question, the man bit off a piece of the meat, pleasantly surprised to recognize the earthy taste as being some kind liver. Not everyone's choice of meat, that was certain, but Ari had grown up eating all sorts of strange things as a kid.

She had to consciously keep herself from whining out when Ari removed his hand from her leg, choosing instead to reach out for one of the skewers still available as Valeria picked one at random. Two circular-shaped small pieces of dark meat where skewered in it, causing her mild intrigue before the blonde took one into her mouth. Sot L'y Laisse had been the name Mikaela had used when she had pointed to that specific skewer. Valeria had no idea what it meant, but she found herself surprised by the tender texture and the sweet flavor that the chicken oyster possessed.

"You did martial arts? Which ones?" She had chewed while listening as Ari responded to her question, her curiosity peaked by the varied options the man shared. "I always wanted to learn karate as a kid~"

Unfortunately it hadn't been in the books, same with the possibility of playing airsoft, but there was one thing the man had mentioned that Valeria was also well acquainted with. "Surfing is great~" Having grown up in a small island surrounded by the sea perhaps it was no surprise the girl had taken a liking to it like a duck did to water.

"Aside from that I also played softball through middle and high school. Most of the time I was the leadoff hitter in our line up... though a handful of times I got to bat fourth too~"

"I did Okinawan-kempo for years, ever since I was a little kid," Ari said as he set the skewer onto Valeria's plate for her to try it. "And then I picked up kendo somewhere along the way like a true weeb," he joked, a humorous smile finding it's way to his face. "I taught both for a couple of years too." Who knew if anyone had actually learned anything from Ari during that time, but the kids had seemed to like him. Or at least liked to mess with him a little, not that he'd minded.

"Yeah, I really loved surfing," the man replied. "I was fortunate enough to get the chance to see the water and catch some waves the last few summers of high school. A couple of my friends thought I had a chance of going pro if I stayed on the island, just 'cause of how quickly I picked it up. Always wondered what woulda happened if I had. What about you, did you ever wanna make softball more than just an extracurricular?"

"Oh both of those are so cool, what the fuck Ari?"

Okinawan-kempo and kendo too? The girl would've loved to have the chance to try any of those growing up. The skewer she'd been holding was placed on his plate, before the blonde couldn't help a faint grimace as she noticed the meat—or rather the liver—skewered on the one that Ari had just placed on her plate.

"Really? That's pretty neat, any reason why you didn't decide to give it a try?" Instead her hand reached over for her glass of water, taking a few sips before setting it back down. "And nah, although I did like it a lot it was also very time consuming... not to mention it takes a lot of people to have a decently functioning team and whatnot."

Sure, she would've liked to join the varsity team in college, and that had been the originally intended plan during her last few months of high school... it's just that the universe had other plans instead, so it never panned out.

"You're speeding towards another shot, Val," Ari reminded the girl with a chuckle. "Softball is pretty cool too though," he said. "I was never that good at traditional sports. Actually, I sucked ass at them, I was pretty much always last pick until high school," the man chuckled. "Never woulda made it onto the baseball team, I guarantee it."

"Reason I didn't try to go pro though was I didn't live on the island. Only there for summers, and it wasn't like my parents were supportive of the idea. Actually they got pretty upset when my friend said that. 'Not a stable, safe career' and what not." Ari shrugged. To be honest, the man didn't really think he would've managed to make it anyways. Most of those who made it to the big leagues had started surfing as children, they had a decade of experience on him. That would've been a lot of catch up to play.

"Besides, doing it for a job would probably take the fun outta it. Anyways, let's vote, who's drinking?" the man asked, deferring to Valeria's judgement.
