Sunny tiredly stumbled down the hotel steps. A tight fist crushed the empty energy drink she'd just downed within record time. Her scheduled flight had been delayed twice so it'd been well after three in the morning when the plane finally landed. And that was only regarding the Pacific time zone! Her brain and body were convinced it was at least six.

Currently, her phone displayed the time as eleven. So, that'd been roughly five hours of sleep which was honestly more than she usually got. But flights always drained her. Especially when sleep wasn't an option due to sobbing and screeching babies. They were miserable little creatures. The one time she dozed off, one of the demon spawn screamed bloody murder.

After grabbing another energy drink, discarding her first as she did so, she cautiously stepped out into the sunny Californian day. Brown eyes glared at the bright fireball burning above. Living in the northeast, she normally complained about the dull, grey colors that cloudy skies brought. Traveling always made her appreciate those dimly lit skies where the sun's rays weren't a deadly ass laser.

Oh, fuck. She just remembered why she was out and about this early. The collaboration with Dawnn. Don't get her wrong, it was a fun idea, but the thought of skating beneath this intense heat while tired sounded like pure torture.

The cabbie gave her a side glance as she hummed little ditties to keep herself awake. How did that one song from decades past go? The one somehow reemerged for a short time a few years ago? It went something like, "California girls they're.. something. Something with daisies and bikinis. Sunshine and rainbows melting ice?"

Fuck. The lyrics were on the tip of her tongue but fizzled as soon as she opened her mouth. Ugh she needed to look them up before that sensation drove her insane. Unfortunately, the taxi driver distracted her from her source of knowledge (aka her phone) with a loud ahem.

Oh, shit. They were already here? Sunny handed the man his money and stepped out, the taxi nearly running her over when it sped away. Geez. People were always in such a rush, weren't they?

Luckily, it was quite easy to find Dawnn: a small camera crew surrounded her. The gamer's eyes grew wide as they examined the skate park. Shit. Looks like she figured out where and how she'd die.

Finishing her sugary death drink, Sunny dragged herself over to Dawnn. Okay, that was a tad melodramatic but it certainly felt like her body needed extra prodding to make its way through the arena of death.

"Yo! You ready to peel me off the pavement? Also, y'know that old ass song about California? I can't remember how it goes and it's driving me insane."

Already baking in the sun, the blonde known to many at the skatepark as Dawnn David sat on a board underneath the little shade there was to be found at a tree in some nearby grass. She was smoking a cigarette while her camera boys smoked a blunt, passing it around. It was during her time to hit it that their guest of honor arrived and she squinted up at her, french inhaling before offering Sunny the blunt with an inquisitive look. She wasn't one to pressure, though, if somebody didn't want to smoke that was more weed for her.

"Just about." She laughed, then looked at one of her cameramen curiously about the question regarding the song, "You mean that one by the Beach Boys or...? Yea, kind of a meme around here at this point. Anyway, Sunny, nice to meetcha. It's a good name, I use it in a game I play sometimes." She stood up and offered her hand, blowing the smoke away from Sunny and smiling in her lady-killer way. It was a practiced smile, but still just as effective.

"Oh yea that's your name in that Terra game, right?" One of the two camera crew spoke up, a scrawny little dude with dyed, fire engine red hair.

"Would you shut your fuckin' mouth?" She whispered harshly at him, admonishing him for nearly outing her not only as a roleplaying nerd but for potentially snitching her out about an illegal game.

She was dressed like a typical skater, flat shoes that lead up past sun-kissed legs to short short jeans with pockets longer than the shorts themselves, followed by a punk band t-shirt and a flannel with the sleeves rolled up, hair down and flowing freely in the slight wind they had to save them from the heat of the sun.

"Loudmouth is Brandon, Glasses is Dylan." She gestured to the other boy, slightly taller and stockier than Brandon with thick-framed glasses. He waved sheepishly at the pro esports player he was familiar with, a fan of the game she was so good at. Dawnn had no such connections to her, but thought this would be a ton of fun regardless.

Finally finished with her cigarette by the time the girl responded, she spiked the butt at the ground,

"Alright boys, start rollin', let's get some B roll before we get started." With that, she didn't offer a board to Sunny before placing hers down and starting to tech it like she was the spiritual successor to Rodney Mullen. It went on for a bit before she finally ate shit and fell to the pavement. Nothing new for her, pads or not, which she didn't opt for anymore. She didn't fall enough for pads or a helmet to mean much, but she'd brought a set for Sunny if she wanted to use the stuff.

"Keep that in." She looked at Dylan, then back at Sunny with that predatory smile, "You ready to try? Let's teach you how to Ollie, huh?"

A blunt extended towards her, an open invitation. "I'd better not. I'm already fucked when it comes to physical activities. I will definitely need a hit after when my leg is twisted the wrong way." she joked, albeit her pale face suggested it wasn't only a joke. She fully believed that a small board would be her doom. Okay, maybe that was an over-exaggeration. Had anyone even died while skateboarding? Probably considering people have died playing video games. Fuck.

"Oh, you're a gamer?" Their discussions regarding the collaboration lead Sunny to assume that Dawnn and video games weren't the most compatible combination. Well, you know what they say about assuming. Assuming makes an ass out of you and-

Wait. Light blue eyes darted between the crewman and Dawnn. "Hah! Chill out. It's fine! I ain't a narc. Actually, I just started playin' Terrasphere a little while ago. Definitely not what I'm used to but it's pretty fuckin' banging." And hauntingly beautiful: a utopia hiding a dark truth. "After this trial run, we should play sometime. Well, that is, if we don't end up annoying the fuck out of each other during this collab." Rubbing people the wrong way was Sunny's specialty so it was always hit or miss with this whole meetup thing.

"Nice to meet'cha Mr. Loudmouth Brandon. Or is Brandon your first name and Loudmouth your last? I mean, where I'm originally from it's common to say the family name first" she joked, a playful smirk on her face. Sunny struggled to suppress a cheerful laugh when she noticed Dylan's small wave. "Ey, no need to be shy. I promise I don't bite.. much. But, seriously, exert some confidence, my friend." Her hands moved from the warm pockets of her oversized hoodie to an outstretched greeting.

Sunny watched in awe as Dawnn performed impressive tricks. And then quietly gasped, like a squeaky mouse, when she hit the pavement. "I have foreseen my future and it looks painful." She turned to Dawnn who now wore a shit-eating smile. "Aren't ollies more advanced? Ah, fuck it. Let's do it."

She fastened her helmet, mouthing "safety first kids" to the camera, although left the pads on the ground. It couldn't be that bad? Nah, who the hell was she trying to fool with that sentiment? It didn't even work on herself.

"Fair enough." She said, making a mental note to offer her to smoke again once they were done. She was a little embarrassed by her outburst against Brandon when told to chill out, but didn't let it show on her expression even though Brandon took the opportunity to seem smug about it. He did so quietly, knowing better, but she knew what he wanted to say.

Brandon laughed at her quip about family names, Dylan smiling, and Dawnn seemed to enjoy it, too. "I like ya already." The scrawny boy said, voice like fine gravel. Dawnn nodded, "Yea, I'm glad I chose ya for this. Speaking of, let's do a quick intro before we get too far. Don't worry about Dylan, he's always a little quiet and I think he's a fan of yours." She explained. Dylan nodded,

"Your highlight vids are my fav. You're part of the reason I practice so much." When he wasn't out here, he was no-lifing the game they had in common, trying to grind through the ranking system.

Clearing her throat, knowing that it would be edited out, she put on a smile and addressed the camera, "Hey gang, and welcome to another video here on my channel! Today we have a very special guest some of you may be familiar with. Sun-Hee Choi! You already see the title, you know what's happening here, but we're gonna try to teach our friend Sunny a few tricks and see if we can instill a love of skating in 'er. We'll be doing another vid on her channel where she teaches me how to play games like a pro so look for that link in the description! Anything you'd like to add, Sunny?"

After she did her part of the intro, she'd gesture for her to join her as they walked towards the grass, placing her board there.

"Alright, so it's all just physics, right?" She began to explain, using her hands first to demonstrate feet placement and then the harder part, making the board jump with you, "You put your feet like this, push down here, and then flick the rest of the board up to meet you. Think of how you jump - you aren't just magically getting into the air, right? You're pushing against the ground. Now you're trying to jump and make the board come with you. We're starting on grass so you have something soft to fall in. Give it a try." She said, gesturing for her to put her board down while she went on to practicing ollies in the grass beside her so she had a visual reference.

Aw, shucks. Her winning personality seemed to be properly appreciated among the crew members and Dawnn herself. A surprising outcome but, nonetheless, a pleasant one. She sure as hell wouldn't argue with their initial reactions. Her actions would eventually do that for her.

"Aw~ It's always a pleasure to meet a fan. I hope you're not picking up on any of my bad habits." Her nose scrunched up, her face temporarily resembling that of a bunny. "Aaand if you're watching me that means you have to be in a high rank, riight?" If he even looked like he'd reply with a negative then Sunny would make it her goal to help get his butt out of whatever rank he was hard-stuck in.

Her focus switched to the fancy camera the trio had. She waggled a peace sign for the viewers. "If the title mentions death then I'm probably being peeled off the pavement as you watch this video. Thank you all for your support and please refrain from t-bagging or posting on my grave. T-anything, really." she joked, playfully winking at the camera. However, a certain glint in her eyes suggested she wasn't joking about disrespecting her grave part. Anyone who knew her was aware she'd haunt the fuck out of anyone who tried to desecrate her grave. Well, hopefully, it didn't come down to that!

"Alright, so it's all just physics, right?" Uhh... Regret, so much regret. She'd hardly paid attention in physics because, like, when the hell would she ever need to use that knowledge? Yeah, she wanted to kick her past self. "Feet down, push there.." she repeatedly mumbled. The second her foot touched the skateboard, though, she felt herself lurch forward. Naturally, she was falling face-first. Time seemed to move in slow motion as her head hit the pavement. Oof. She should have started on grass.

"Cool, cool." she muttered, a finger poking at the hole in her jeans while managed to get back on her feet. Focus, you got this. Nah, that was a lie but maybe it'd convince herself that she possessed super balancing powers. Moving at a snail's pace, she tried a few more times to get on the board until, "Fuck ye-"

"Shitshitshitshit." Celebration turned into a slew of curses when she felt her weight shift and the "physics" taking effect; mainly gravity pulling her and the board down a nearby slope. The skateboard attacked her face, leaving a gash on her cheek when she tried to get up. Of course, she stepped on some invisible spring that launched the board into the air. "I think the skateboard is possessed. Or, I just suck at this. I know it's the latter but the former helps my poor, damaged pride."

"Maaaybe the ollie lesson can come after skating for toddlers 101?"
