Sunny tiredly stumbled down the hotel steps. A tight fist crushed the empty energy drink she'd just downed within record time. Her scheduled flight had been delayed twice so it'd been well after three in the morning when the plane finally landed. And that was only regarding the Pacific time zone! Her brain and body were convinced it was at least six.
Currently, her phone displayed the time as eleven. So, that'd been roughly five hours of sleep which was honestly more than she usually got. But flights always drained her. Especially when sleep wasn't an option due to sobbing and screeching babies. They were miserable little creatures. The one time she dozed off, one of the demon spawn screamed bloody murder.
After grabbing another energy drink, discarding her first as she did so, she cautiously stepped out into the sunny Californian day. Brown eyes glared at the bright fireball burning above. Living in the northeast, she normally complained about the dull, grey colors that cloudy skies brought. Traveling always made her appreciate those dimly lit skies where the sun's rays weren't a deadly ass laser.
Oh, fuck. She just remembered why she was out and about this early. The collaboration with Dawnn. Don't get her wrong, it was a fun idea, but the thought of skating beneath this intense heat while tired sounded like pure torture.
The cabbie gave her a side glance as she hummed little ditties to keep herself awake. How did that one song from decades past go? The one somehow reemerged for a short time a few years ago? It went something like, "California girls they're.. something. Something with daisies and bikinis. Sunshine and rainbows melting ice?"
Fuck. The lyrics were on the tip of her tongue but fizzled as soon as she opened her mouth. Ugh she needed to look them up before that sensation drove her insane. Unfortunately, the taxi driver distracted her from her source of knowledge (aka her phone) with a loud ahem.
Oh, shit. They were already here? Sunny handed the man his money and stepped out, the taxi nearly running her over when it sped away. Geez. People were always in such a rush, weren't they?
Luckily, it was quite easy to find Dawnn: a small camera crew surrounded her. The gamer's eyes grew wide as they examined the skate park. Shit. Looks like she figured out where and how she'd die.
Finishing her sugary death drink, Sunny dragged herself over to Dawnn. Okay, that was a tad melodramatic but it certainly felt like her body needed extra prodding to make its way through the arena of death.
"Yo! You ready to peel me off the pavement? Also, y'know that old ass song about California? I can't remember how it goes and it's driving me insane."
