"Okay! My turn! If that's how they wanna play it, then fine by me! LETS PULL OUT ALL THE STOPS THEN AND SEE HOW YOU LIKE IT! GATHER O' DARK!"

A swirl of darkness began to gather at the point of Glamdark's wand as it crackled and grew distorted from the force of her chant.

"Darker than Dark and Darker Still!
Complete my Arts and Grant My Will!
Lapse, Lapse, Lapse!
Oh, Semblant Tide of History
Here Stands the Final Truth
That there Shall Yet be One Who Stands Beyond the End
And Utters the New Beginning
By my command,
Eclipse!

Dark 'Rounds!"

At her command the gathered Dark briefly imploded, into a single bead before it shattered in a great boom and surged as though a great dam were breaking. The Dark found its home around Nyancy and formed a swirling bubble---- it was a regenerative shield.

"Hang in there Nyancy! Backup's finally here!"

Nothing was working. The tank was simply too tough, and even the small opening they created was parried away as Levi's strike seemed to do barely anything - at least from Fina's point of view. Which was on the ground at the moment, as she fell back down after her grandiose attack. Not exactly the best position to be in, given that the tank was still all too willing to trample anything around it before the legs fully retracted. It did end with Fina acquiring a few more new bruises.

Getting back up was no easy task, either. It felt as if all aspects of the battlefield were converging on a couple of specific spots at this point. So much was happening, that the feline almost missed several attacks headed her way again, only dodging at the last moment thanks to @Tenshi and her warning. Unfortunate that there was no time to thank her savior. As the DEAD.naught continued moving forward, Fina wanted to give chase and attack it once more. She would keep going until she finally made a dent!

Only a few steps later, however, her view stopped being of the battlefield ahead of her. Instead, it was the sky! And then the dirt- "Buh-!" falling face-first onto the floor, it was clear that something or someone moved the girl. A fair distance, too. This place didn't look much better, either. Engulfed in flames as well, there were several machines distracted by other Starcalled. One of them looked really important, too. As the tank was too far now, there was no better course of action, then...

Putting all of her strength into the next jump, Fina leaped into the air as several arcane blades manifested around her in a circle, glowing in purple light and reflecting light as they appeared as if they were crafted from expensive gems. Despite such visage, however, they cut well. An omnidirectional assault would take the Overseer by surprise, near-completely obliterating it after it sustained heavy damage from others who attacked before. It did still manage to swat the cat out of the air and back onto the ground, but it was clearly done after that, falling onto the dirt-laden battlefield itself.

First, he got damage – he had no idea where from, aside the fact that it was from somewhere further in the front, somewhere behind the machine. It dug into his HP, it stung. Many times over and it hurt!

"Hah!" But then Hyakin released an excited sound, because he saw the machine turn around as if noticing him and Lady Moonsong. It rolled over to them.

"Gah!" It was faster than it seemed, it slammed into his shield, pushing him back. The impact almost left him reeling. Hyakin had to reposition and grip the shield tighter even as it was slammed against him and his face; he had to keep it up, keep the defense up! "Ghhh-hhhraargh!" He groaned as he heard the sound of metal hitting metal.

But then it stopped and he gasped, breathing heavily, feeling his muscles groan in protest.

But then he noticed it. Something above.

A figure.

Many things..

Which started to rain down.

"NO!" He yelled and got up, shifting his shield and turning around to face the other tank. The shield blocked – butt he blades, some hit one another causing them to move in odd angles and thus he could not completely block them! "Haaa-aaah!" He yelled again, his muscles bunching as he prepared for the onslaught onto his uncovered body.

But perhaps it was because he focused so much, that he tensed so much that his body was like steel, and maybe those were the angles, but the swords hit his armour so that they slid off without damaging him.

The rain of blades finished.
The silhouette was gone.

The BOSS was in some weird hibernating state… but not completely.

Panting, he glanced at Lady Moonsong and spoke.

"Lady Moonsong. Let us attack together. We'll gather the enmity and then go.." He looked around before pointing to an area (A4) where the wall started. "There! In this area! We need to keep the aggro on us!" After that short conversation, Hyakin gripped the shield once more. And once more the silver shield was thrown like a boomerang.

Taking also deep breath, he then yelled, once more at the moment it was hit.

"TRY AND GET ME YOU OUTDATED JUNK!"

Taunting (327)

With aggro grabbed, he checked his current partner and once she got its attention too, he went to the area he previously pointed to, trying hard to not look at the many bleeding and hurt Players and NPC's.

Of course, it was a bit hard to climb onto the wall but with his physique, he could do it! Even if the wounds kept bothering him and hurting him, soon he found himself standing on the wall and staring at the BOSS.

-10 HP from staying on red tile

As Tetsunosuke then surveyed the area around him after defeating the rushing automaton, it seemed that he had entered literal hell. Everything around him was melting if not ferociously burning, and if he as well as the other one who had assaulted the sentry (@Ash Vargold) would stay here for far too long, they would be next in this burning pile. And so, he then approached the other person, and then said, "Looks like we need to get out of here, it is too hot even my circuitry is malfunctioning at the moment. You can board my mech if you want, there should be a vending machine inside for drinks there if you need refreshments."

After he made sure that the other person had boarded the mech, he then went inside as well, and then moved towards the cockpit to move out of this place as soon as possible. The mech which was then in its vehicle form then moved quickly but steadily through the sea of flames, zipped past the giant tank on legs and its little brother, and then climbed the hill that it had once passed through. As he then arrived in the area, it had seemed that the traps there still had not covered the whole area. Thinking that he should get things done immediately, then started creating more mines as he had done so earlier, but since he should have quite a bit of an area to cover, he really hoped that person would come help again with her little spirits...

That was a mecha. Ash stared blankly at Tetsunosuke's vehicle, then shook off the shock. They were fighting a Metal Gear. This was nothing.

"Thanks! The sooner we get out of here the better."

He clambered into the machine as the flames licked behind him, glad to finally not be literally on fire. It was such a strange feeling, though - there legitimately was a vending machine in here and everything. What a strange reminder that they weren't actually in the midst of a war...

It's strange how easy that is to forget, hm?

He took a deep breath as the vehicle dropped him off. The air was still foul, but at least it wasn't burning his lungs. The DEAD.naught was beginning to clamber up the hill, and though Tetsunosuke's efforts had finished the traps behind him, something told him it wouldn't be enough...

"Spirits, heed my call! Drag it under!"

Ash called forth spectral hands once more, this time emerging from the ground to grasp and drag at the DEAD.naught's legs, dragging it towards the trap's location. He panted as the spell was complete - the spirits knew what they wanted, in the end. He was just here to help them along.

"Alright, now what-

...what's that noise?"

He turned his attention towards the wall, where one of the pylons had crashed to the earth. He could hear a high-pitched whine, much higher than most people could hear. Something was going to happen, something was already happening, and it was instinct more than anything that sent him running towards the wall, though he couldn't quite reach it...

The sound of swarming blades caught her attention as she looked towards them while sliding off the DEAD.naught. She noticed XS-EVE for the first time, brows furrowing as the hymn of the magia came to an end and the blades swept through a large area, their sharp edges slicing anything foolish enough to stand on their path.

Toko had little time to worry about others, the massive machinery beside her shifting once more and causing the ground to quake in response. She dove to the side, dodging one of the incoming legs, as the machine was led on by @Moonsong and others into another trap. Fire erupted from her space, spreading up ahead as the machine continued to incinerate anything towards its sides. A whizzing sound caused the hare to look upwards as four metallic rods landed in various areas, embedding themselves deep into the soil, before the beeps & boops that accompanied the updating alert messages as the machinery assumed a defensive position and prepared to reconfigure its systems.

"Oh… that’s not good."

Eyes fell on the pylon furthest away from everyone, aware that she could make it towards it faster than most of the others in the field. She was vaguely aware of a presence as an aura clung to her form, causing Toko to look back just in time to see @Hanno Futaba and offer him a nod of acknowledgement, before she sped off in the direction of the pylon. She passed by various players on the way, some faces Toko recognized and others that she’d never seen before, as she ignored the fire that licked at her boots and the oppressive heat all around.

Finally the rod was within sight and, with a mighty leap, Toko’s feet connected with the side of the pylon. The force caused it to creak and lean in response, feet kicking the metallic cover repeatedly, before Toko smirked in satisfaction as it was felled. With her work done Toko was quick to rush back into the thick of the fray, muscles tensing in preparation for what could possibly come for them next.

With a gasp Valmont sat up. Panicked, he looked around, trying to gather his senses. He remembered hearing music, and then it was blank. Slowly he got to his feet, looking around to reassess the situation and dust himself off. Some new faces had come to his section of the wall while he slept.
Two girls, @MAI and Meriam (@Raid Boss @Ashifili*) stood nearby, the former shielding the later with some kind of mechanical wings. He heard @Aloe shouting about being a shield and running off to another section of wall. That drew his attention to the big, angry, pillar of doom looming nearby. How had he possibly missed that? Then dread began to set in. A lot of people looked very panicked, and their eyes were all focused on the pillar.
”Oh, that’s not good.” He mumbled to himself. ”I was not ready for today.” Throwing his arm out to one side he flicked his wrist and a few more octahedron rolled out of his sleeve, falling inert to the ground. ”What the… Come on…” He glared at them, and realized he’d lost his focus. Taking a second he reestablished his link with the magitech tools. One by one dozens of them, like scattered dice, began to lift off the ground and swarm around him in an orbiting ring.
With a determined stride he began walking along the wall and towards the nearby ballista. Grabbing the end he twisted it to face across the battlefield to the giant mech. Once again intuition guided his eye to find the arch, and he finally zeroed in on the target. He threw the latch and felt the thrum of the bolt fire out. It’s just a game. He chanted to himself in his head the whole while.
Meanwhile the little octahedron of his took on a whirring pattern. Hovering along the wall, and firing super-heated beams of blue energy to weld panels together to shore up its defenses. It wasn’t much, but it was what he had the energy to spare for, his mind practically split with the intense concentration both activities took. But, his task done, he began to walk away from the angry death pillar, trying to get out of a possible threat range, fixing the wall while he moved.

Bleeding (1)

Whatever came, Cain withstood. Whether it be the hail of blades, slicing into his jacket, or the energized beam, blasting into his stomach, he withstood it. Paltry sensations trickling down his virtual body, but it was nothing compared to the sight that he beheld. That singing Magia, scampering off like a rat after such a grandiose entrance. That overpowering DEAD.naught, curling up into a ball after its efforts to advance was met with furious blow after furious blow. And even its upgrades, sent from the heavens itself, was being dismantled now, battlefield communications persisting even while its jamming continued to prevent the usage of UI-based messaging.

They were doing well. Better than expected, in truth. Beyond a single death, a stranger who he knew not the name of, Cain saw that they were all doing well. So what was this feeling? A feeling as if his throat was tightening up, bidding him to take a step back, to view everything from a broader perspective?

@Lady N's gambit failed. Her blades, powerful as they were, did not replicate the strength they displayed moments before, and hardly scratched the surface of the DEAD.naught's new armor plating.

@Nyancy pursued her own death, the cat-faced adventurer pulling out her very soul for the sake of striking down the Overseer that had so doggedly survived as it floated ever closer to its charge.

Beside him, @Bluebird lurched forth, her throat ravaged by the backlash of her spell, the sound of blood clear in her coughing fit even though she hid it well.

The DEAD.naught would soon break out from its chrysalis. The bomb behind Cain would detonate. If he slipped down to avoid it instead, he wouldn't be able to reach the Gate swiftly enough to assist with the healing. If he remained, that would make him a target of the DEAD.naught's attack in the same way that the tanks around him would. Decisions increased, splintering off into a half-dozen alternate paths, each of them weighed with separate values, each of them entwining around the noose that bore the weight of a world.

...

He came to his decision, relinquishing the last of the technomagical assistants that @Valmont had gifted him on the wall. That man was still there, thankfully, doing the blue-collared work that seemed at once fitting and at once unfitting for an individual clothed like that. One hand rested on Bluebird's shoulder, giving a little squeeze to remind her that she wasn't alone yet, and Cain stepped forth, orchestration the distillation of cosmos.

Bleeding (4)

Blood ran thick and dark, staining her outfit as Nai ducked beneath the ruptured earth, the massive form of the DEAD.naught rumbling on and on. Her vision was blinking out, fading and then focusing with the palpitations of her heart, even though her mind remained as sharp as it always had. One strike had been free. Two strikes would be dangerous. And three strikes, she could not afford. Had to have struck her liver though, going by the black blood she spat out. If not for pain insensitivity, it would be agony.

If not for pain insensitivity, perhaps she would have dodged it before.

And still, so close that she could feel its heat, Nai could feel it, that monster of a machine, click-clacking away as its gears shifted in anticipation for the pylons that the players certainly wouldn't be able to clear out entirely. They were stretched thin enough as it was, people taking risks, people overextending themselves, people exhausting themselves over the sheer number of tasks to handle. So many now were stuck in the burning lands, their legs hamstrung by the agony of taking even one step.

And of those who were still positioned right in front of the DEAD.naught, prepared to receive its charge, @Hyakin Heliodoros looked to be the only reliable one there. Beyond that, there was only a spoony bard, a birdgirl that looked halfway to death, and a pink-haired waif.

Well, she wasn't much better, but her job was simpler.

Transportation and protection.

Golden eyes scanned the horizon, noting the trajectories of the remaining enemies, as well as the small successes they've managed to grab so far. Her eyes flickered through the long list of statuses on the raid party list, calculating damages taken and actions taken, before settling on one in particular.

Twenty damage from Bleed.
Then another ten afterwards from the eruption.

Leaving her at 15.

Just enough to survive, if nothing more than a Bullet Storm struck.

Was it worth it?

Nai swallowed, then nodded.

It was.

So?

What was she waiting for?

A cursory illusory attack struck the flank of the DEAD.naught as she slipped into the hot lands, her shoes burning beneath her feet as steam exited her many wounds. Yet it would be enough, for the true spell to weave its effect as a cloak of active camouflage swept over Ronja's robotic form. The stench of burnt hair and boiled blood stung her nostrils, but citronella scent overrode both. Nothing here, after all, was real.

Nothing, except the people behind the avatars.

"Take care."

As Bradwynne then prepared to mount yet another ballista bolt to attack the huge turret, he then saw yet another stream of objects within the battlefield. But this time it was something that he did not see before in his forays in Vintergard. Yet he knew that those things might be relevant in this battle. And so he then took a glimpse on each and everyone of those things to know what they stood for.

But, as it seemed, every Traveler in front of the wall determined that those were too alien from what they knew were coming, and so every person then focused on those. And so he then focused himself with arming the ballista to chip off some of the armor of that oversized turret that was coming for them. But for some reason, he felt a bit of unease, and he knew the reason. He then glanced at the thing that had recently appeared from his left, just near the wall.

Unlike all other things that seemed really tangible, this one was just like some sort of a Bunsen burner, but emitting lightning and plasma all over the place. He knew that this kind of thing should be carefully surveyed and analyzed before it could be destroyed, and so no one should approach it willy-nilly... he then saw a person (@MAI) just sent a drone to attack it, and now it had gotten really unstable to the point that it would explode anytime soon. As he was taken aback by surprise, he accidentally let the bolt loose and fired the ballista, the bolt that flew just grazed on the armor of the turret, leaving a nasty gash on the plating. He then generated wings of light and summoned his "companion", and they together flew nearer to the area but far enough to not be affected by the explosion, to assess all damages, and if possible, to heal those who would survive the explosion.

"Geh...hahhh..."

The loud spray of gunfire finally slows down, as Aroda starts to really feel...overheated. She wasn't sure if it was more because of her overuse of her own energy, or if it was the fire surrounding her. ...It was probably both. And probably more of it was the fire. But as the volley of bullets she was firing stops, she gains a moment to try and regain her composure...

...Which turns out to be quite difficult, when she's burning up and exhaling steam. Even her weapon was starting to get dangerously hot, at this point.

Fortunately, as she seemed to have started to calm down, she was able to consider things sensibly, and dedicate a bit of time to giving her gun an emergency cooling, the whole thing practically opening up at the center, accompanied by a pent up hiss of hot air and fumes. While the gun's effectively not operational, she starts to trudge with some difficulty toward her next target - these giant pylons seem like a problem that needs solving, and sooner rather than later.

On her way, she gives her best tired smile out to the friendly healers (@Cain Darlite, @Ronja Bubblyfoot) that helped her out, her exhaustion and overheating at least partly wiped away by the relief of healing magic.

Re-energized, repositioned, her gun reset and reloaded, her thoughts back in order, and none of her in danger of overheating any more...she arrives in her optimal range, and takes aim at the massive pylon. It looked like it might have some fight to offer back...but that was fine. These things weren't going to stop her now.

"Alright, A...one more once. Nothing to it."

This is a direct continuation to Team Ego's merger with the main thread.

The king in gold was stunned by what had just happened to him when he, @Ilusa Nakhalee, and @Seto Kurama passed through the Spirit Gate. He gritted his teeth in annoyance at being duped by the Sunclaw escorts. Insolent mongrels, all of them. They knew the price, yet kept it hidden to force his compliance.

Astor thought about how he would kill them when they meet again. And in the case where they don’t, he would assign a party to drag them back to the world of mortals where their punishments would be decreed. It’s the kind of punishment that would make them regret ever coming back at all.

Before he ventured too far into his own thoughts, the fire and overwhelming heat and the sound of clashing between man and machine brought him back to reality. The defenders were overwhelmed and as part of the cavalry, he needed to alleviate that pressure right away, starting with the pylon that needed to be destroyed before it merged with the DEAD.naught.

Seto, Sword of Astorea, I command you to sharpen your steel and cut down the enemies of Astorea, failure is not permitted.

The moment Seto received his command, he became shrouded with a golden aura as a buff status with a crown icon appeared in his UI. [Ruler’s Command]. Astor then pointed at the Regulator.

Before Astor could talk to Schilva Flasch, the speedster was already gone.

Afterward, Astor turned and noticed something out of place with Ilusa. It seemed as though her eyes were glowing with a light, the same color as the glowing spectral clouds they encountered when they walked through the Spirit Gate. He asked,

Ilusa, are you alright? Your eyes are glowing. What happened?

Just as he was about to extend his hand to her face as a concerned expression docked on his face, a sudden explosion on the ground cut their interaction short.

This is a direct continuation of Team Scout's 11th cycle and its follow-up post.

Amid the frantic rush to take down the pylons that was sent down to reinforce the Camp Crusher, the DEAD.naught came to a complete halt as it initiated its upgrade. While a lot of the attention moved away from it, those who continued fighting it at melee range would feel a tremor beneath their feet.

In seconds, a massive Bloodwurm the Scouts fondly referred to as Tubby broke out of the ground with an ear-piercing high-pitched screech before ramming into the DEAD.naught at peak momentum with @Seigi Ling Ling @Magi Heart @Yugam @Cleo Looker and @Ueno Mizuki barely holding on.

REEEEEEEEE-EEEEEEEEE-EEEEEEEEE-EEEEEEEEE-!!!

Wurm Express

Reinforcement has arrived.

The DEAD.naught takes 500 damage from being rammed by Tubby, who then punctured the magia's hard armor with its razor-sharp teeth.

Meriam's heart was bursting from being protected by @MAI and @Aloe, who, despite being a lot newer to the game than her were doing everything they could to comfort and protect her. A pang of guilt stabbed Meriam right in the heart. She, who had been always been a crybaby and end up being useless to those around her, was completely overwhelmed by how she felt at that moment.

The Meriam in real life wasn't any different, just taller, and not as cute as the white-haired doll face she wore in-game. She met all the qualifications of a NEET, not in education, employment, or training. They might as well add an extra T in the acronym, because she was never truly "There" anyways, despite occupying precious space in a house far too small for a family of six. She half-existed with three other siblings and middle-aged parents, who are so busy working to feed the kids that they might have given up on her.

She often wondered if they would kick her out if they hasn't given up, since she was taking up space and resources from the more ambitious siblings. She would prefer that. Despite what others might think about her condition, she got along with her siblings, though, her inability to leave her room except to go to the bathroom severely limited her ability to take care of or interact with them. They know why she locked herself in. They sympathized with her, but can't exactly help. After she had to be the one to take the first step, which she was never able to, despite how much help she had received.

Things changed when her siblings got her a VR Headset and Terrasphere. In that world, she became Meriam, a peppy albeit awkward midget, who was cute enough to be noticed by others. She took the first step at breaking out of her shell, exploring a fantastical world, fighting monsters, finding treasures, making friends, and even falling in love. Finally, she could live in a world where she was unfettered by the world beyond the glass.

Some people had told her that she was living in a fantasy and that it was all a game, but she had seen people who were UI-locked, and had seen confirmation of their deaths on dubious chat sites. However, she never stopped playing and checked off one of the three deaths allotted to her. She continued, knowing the risk. She couldn't stop until she could take that step out of her house, but no matter how much she played the game, true changes were impossible.

After the first death, Meriam was starting to fret at the prospect of dying for real, so much so that even when she had the opportunity to save her teammates amid a dungeon delve gone wrong, she opted to run. Retribution came quickly in the form of her second death when she failed to escape after deserting her allies. Some of those teammates disappeared from her friend list after that, which had stayed with her since. She never did talk to any of those players again. She didn't know whether they removed her or if they became UI-locked.

Since then, she gave up on the dangerous life of adventuring and took up a cozy job as an Astorean comms operator, where she could pass her time quietly in-game as the fetter from the real world began to creep up on her.

Things changed when she got tangled up in the mess at Camp Hope, initiated by Team Time EX, however. What started as a zany adventure turned into a massive plot thread involving corrupted magia, cold-blooded murderers, and her crush being UI-locked. And there it was, that deep and subtle horror of Terrasphere found her once more and presented her with its gambit. Would she be able to change before Meriam, the player is terminated? Whether or not the passionate Time EX members had inspired her, Meriam forced herself to take the wager. She was unable to ignore the fact that many people on the battlefield right then risked losing their real-life potential just to protect digital data. If they were going to do that then she, who had never been able to conquer the real world, would rather use her last life to protect the potential of those who could walk so much further than her.

After the faerin let out a sigh of resolution, Meriam ripped herself away from MAI and dashed toward Aloe, saying, "N-no, I'll protect you this time."

When she got to Aloe's ballista, Meriam jumped off the wall and let her Mana Mantle, which took the shape of her scarf float her down to the Sky Lance Upgrade Pylon where she raised her staff and shouted into the flaming smokey sky.

"Andorea, Faelord of Divine Embrace, answer my call and heed my summon, for I, your faithful servant dedicate her life to beseech your protection to all those who are within my grasp!"

After which, the sky momentarily turned dark as a massive spectral stag rose from the pylon standing up on its high legs before crashing down onto the pylon, dispersing its form into a spectral coat that covered everyone within range.

As if the machine settled its eye on Moonsong, it slowly turned, preparing to dash forwards. However, its antenna was broken off by a bouncing shield. "Hyakin!" She called out delightfully at the sight of the silver defender. "I owe you one." Having a fellow frontliner with her made all her worries disappear. The songstress clapped her hands together, releasing a soft melody from her vocals as formations of arcane greatswords appeared in front of them, blocking the path and defending against incoming attack.

The deafening sound from the enemy magia songstress subsided, and in return, she left a parting gift; a massive storm of blades engulfing half of the battlefield. "Incoming!" She warned @Hyakin Heliodoros to take a defensive stance. The armor-like aura from the knight deflected most of the attacks, while Moonsong tries to parry the numerous blades simultaneously with her summoned weapons, causing her to lose a lot of energy as her conjured blades were destroyed. "Ugh."

The bladestorm subsided, and the DEAD.Naught was ready to move again. Hyakin tossed the idea of pulling the tank onto the high ground, where there were traps already prepared. "Let's go." As the knight threw his silver shield, Moonsong quickly conjured spinning blades on it and made several hand signs akin to a ninja, creating a gravitational pull towards the war machine that directed the spinning shield onto its sensor with such high speed, that it would definitely make a dent. The shield impacted, making an audible BONK sound before coming back to Hyakin's hand. Now, time to run to the high ground. Let's see if Obi-Wan was right.

People usually had some fantastic, glorious image about riding into battle. On the back of a strong warhorse, sword raised in the air, leading an army with a fierce war cry. Reality couldn't have been further from that fantasy though.

What riding into battle looked like for Yugam was bursting through the ground on the back of Tubby, The Bloodwurm, and colliding headfirst into the DEAD.naught, taking a hefty chunk of armor down to the ground with them.

Tumbling through the dirt, it took more than a few moments for Yugam to get his bearings back. But when he did, a lump rose in the man's throat. The scouts had expected to return back to Camp Hope, intact, beds and a warm meal. Instead, they were greeted by the sounds of battle, fire. Out of the frying pan and into the fire.

His first thought should have been figuring out where he was needed most in this moment. Frontlines, fighting, defending. Maybe at the wall raining bloody hell down. But instead, his first thought was this: 'Gotta find Val.'

Yu's feet began to move before his mind, but a familiar voice shouting stopped him short, just one step in. Yu gritted his teeth and swore before looking over at the rest of the scouts. They'd be useless if they all died here now. And if he was dead, there was no way he'd be able to find Luthien and make sure she was okay.

The ground began to a deep violet color before rings of light began to rise, engulfing Cleo, Seigi and Magi, who were the worst off of the group. Tendrils of purple smoke snuck between the dirt and sank into their skin as their health slowly began to tick upwards.

He had wanted to say something cool to them in that moment. 'Get going,' 'job's not done yet,' something along those lines. But nothing came out of his mouth. One last look was given towards them before the Hunter took off running. End this fight first. He'd have to apologize to Luthien later.

Arriving back at the camp was supposed to be a quiet, yet victorious affair. Sure, they were arriving on wurm-back and had a wolf boy with them, but they'd pushed hard, gotten the job done and were, all in all, quite victorious and successful.

So what the fuck was this!?

Emerging into a battle scene, the giant wurm (she was NOT calling it Tubby) had slammed into some kind of giant tank thing and, all in all, things looked pretty bad. At least, as far as she could see from her wurm-y vantage point. How in the world had things gone so badly that they'd ended up like this? It hadn't been that long since they'd set off for the scouting mission, had it?

Either way, it looked like the time for restraint had long since passed, so it was time to crank things as high as she could. Emerging from the smoke, summoned by @Yugam to heal her, Cleo stepped out in her Evoke state, armor having flared out into a dress and a spear condensed and compressed until it was wand sized.

Oh come on! More giant things to kill!?

It was going to quickly become a wurm-based bloodbath, so Cleo figured it was time to do some damage. A look of concentration on her face as she began projecting crimson spears above the DEAD.naught, before they all began to plummet at once, allowing gravity to bring them down on their target faster, before pushing herself off of Tubby and allowing herself to be carried away by a pair of spears underneath her feet, holding her aloft, gently lowering her down.

The earth itself tore apart as Tubby, and the scouting party, made an explosive entrance - probably screaming atop their lungs. They were... at the camp again! Just mid-air and all. Yet, it was the most classical example of everything having gone wrong in their absence.

Just what happened!? Seigi wondered, for only a moment, before getting the gist of what was in need of a beating or two. As if the Titanium-Drill thingy and half the palace Machina hadn't been enough. Slowly, she sure felt her own energy draining. "CAN'T WE JUST PRESS THEIR POWER OFF BUTTON!?" Seigi cried in annoyance as she came crashing down from the air, directly against the clunky tank. "Urgh!" It should have been a sentence about heroics and being fashionable late!

Seigi couldn't quite put her mind to it, but today just felt... wrong! And it certainly wasn't because Yugam sucked her nearly dry! Nonetheless, putting something akin to a dent into the Machina, she used the recoil to land a somewhat safe distance away from the metallic monstrosity.

In spite of his best efforts to ignore the little voice in his head that told him to continue others' unfinished work, in spite of the tingling sensation itching the back of his neck to go and join the fray, he simply couldn't walk away from that unfinished mess.

He looked at his hands, barely sullied by the dirt that had been tampered with the work of those who had already succeeded and rushed ahead. Now, he stayed behind to suffer the effects of a Magia's song now turned into razor-sharp blades, finding happiness in the little comfort that was to know his cape hadn't been damaged.

A man has to take precautions to keep his outfit intact when he knows he's marching into battle.

Shame the same couldn't be said for his boots.

With a sigh, he lowered himself to the dirt and poured all of his effort into the three seconds he tried to mess with what he clearly couldn't understand, throwing his hands up in the air before shifting on his heels and making his way back towards the walls. Surely he'd be more useful blowing a thing or two up with those cannons! Surely.

An oversized structure at the edge of his vision caught his attention.

"Ah, shit. That looks important." He squinted further, straining his vision to see the little dotted figures gathering around it. "Wait, are those kids?"

Frey started to run.

The travel itself was odd. That path, the haze everywhere… And when they at last exited the portal, they were right in the middle of a fight. Ilusa immediately felt the heat, the scent of charred flesh and heated metal, her hand gripped Astor's harder.

The fire licked at her armour and she felt the greedy flames trying to consume. It hurt.

She glanced backwards, into the portal after Astor asked and the caenis spoke.

It made sense. It really made sense. Such great magic had to have price. She noted that Astor must have promised something to the caenis and then, she shuddered as the vision of great ethereal fox swallowing Haira and the huge caenis turning into something lupine, something like a werewolf. The last she saw, before the portal collapsed was the man lunging at fox.

The haziness stayed as if light fog obscuring things. She still looked around as Astor gave his order and empowered Seto, her own weapon active and lazily floating next to her. She looked – but the battlefield was wide and the most damaged Players were too far away.

And Ilusa refused to leave Astor's side.

"Hm?" The felis made a questioning sound and turned to look at her beloved, wondering what he meant, noticing a hand getting close, when an eruption made her look there instead, ears straight and tail poofed up – she also moved to hide Astor behind herself.

But it was a giant monster ridden by players – it looked like some giant worm – with teeth and it slammed into the main enemy.

Surrounded by flames, with only them in the area around she prepared to cast and heal herself and him. …But then Astor asked her, to go and heal others.

Ilusa bit her lip and glanced around, before looking back at Astor. It was clear that she was torn – she wanted to stay with him, to make sure he was close by. ...But he asked and she was weak to him.

"…Please don't move far away from me." It was a plea she gave, before following what he asked.

She looked at the burning area and ran towards less burning area - towards the huge machine. Even with a hazy vision, she noticed many with low health, the huge worm and a familiar silhouette. The excitable caenis was here and alive. Ilusa almost stayed there, but the rather huge and wiggling worm pushed her away and she further distanced herself to not get hit by the wiggling body.

…Ilusa was not looking towards climbing it to stay near everyone, so for now she stayed where she was. And there were people in range of her magic to heal.

Thus she chanted, thus she concentrated. Pale gold sigils and light floated around her as she peered closely onto the people around to find ones to heal.

And she did find them. That screaming faerin, that strong and brave Seigi and the fellow healing beastfolk, magic enveloped them, healing their hurts.
