DRAGON.end
Season 4 Finale - Part 3 (Cycle 1)

With acute precision, coordination, and a bit of a spontaneous shift in approach, the Forward team pushed deeper into Szofrit's territory, sabotaging her supply lines, cutting down powerful magia contraptions, and taking over key locations until they absolutely could not go any further, as they were at the last stretch before meeting the Leader of the Magia face-to-face.

In the time that the Forward team managed to gain grounds, many more leylines had shot up into the dawning sky. The Red Key was nearly complete and with it, magia's freedom.

When the Forward team determined that they could get another inch closer to their objective, Childress immidiately blew her whistle, rallying the group to her as the Forward team began to hunker down and prepare the invasion point as she sent her fastest messengers back to the Ruined Palace.

There was neither pretense nor subtlety, only a direct and bloody confrontation remains as the rest of the Starcalled push through the magitech hell to reach Szofrit.

By the time all the Starcalled assembled at the invasion point, they were together with their kindreds, eyes lit with fire and hands trembling with anticipation. Everyone was doing the last minute adjustment on their weapon and equipment, all done by hands since the UI couldn't be access this close to the Magia's epicenter.

The concentration of magic was so deep that Elves and anyone who was remotely attuned to magic would experience a pounding headache and taunt skin that felt like it was being pricked by a hundred needles.

Drawing the cold air into her lungs, Childress ran her palm down her blade before she covered her face and body with her blood as a vow to give the Beast Lord a good battle. Her ears flicked and her tail whisked with agitation as she finished her battle ritual.

"Protectors, get to the frontline and make sure you are ready to defend those behind you. Strikers, make sure you hit the enemies and not your allies, Healers, keep the damage sponges alive.

Come on!!! Come on!!! Strap your boots tight and your armor right or the enemy is going to send you to Urukkhan. I won't be joining you because I had already promised myself to the Beast Lord."

(She roused the group with her booming voice.)

"Tanks, on me and Kiryuu!"

"DPS, with me!"

"Supports on the back line with me."

"STAY BEHIND ME. GO, GO, GO! Stay focused and keep your eyes on the prize. You are strong. You can do this. Come on, I believe in you. Get my back and I'll get yours!"

- ✦ -

The counter-attack began when the most defensive of you charged into the battlefield with the rest of the group at their heel, only to be greeted by the Dragonship's readied arsenals of mass destruction.

First, the bullets hailstorm came down fast and hard, grazing the flesh of the lucky while splattering the squishy bits of the unlucky. Next came the laser beams from the weapons mounted on the Dragonship remnants, cutting a line of people in half and spilling their steaming inside onto the untouched snow. Nothing that a good heal can't fix, right? Even if it was painful. The really unlucky saps had their limbs blown off from stepping on a mine. Luckily the healers were primed and ready for healing. Whether or not they could concentrate on their job was a different matter altogether.

The horrific scene of war looked as though it came right out of an account of the Invasion of Normandy Beach, only a lot more gruesome as both sides are able to inflict an unimaginable amount of violence on one another.

The few who were not able to stomach the stress and gore turned their back to run away from the horrific scene, however, there were enemies in all directions. Wherever they would run to, the momentum of the battle would push them further and further forward. And when they would take a moment to look toward their destination, the peeress eye of god stared back at them.

The soul-less war machines know not of mercy, push forth or be slaughtered like lambs.

Cycle 1 - Mechanics

Thread Rules
  • The next cycle will drop in approximately 24-48 hours.
  • Up to 2 characters per OOC account may participate in the event.
  • Each character can make 2 posts per cycle, one with mechanics and one to respond to others, it doesn't matter which one takes place first.
  • Max word count is 500 words excluding BBcodes.
  • There is no set posting order.
  • Any communication can be done either by making a private comms thread or posting in the event's official comms thread.
  • This event thread is focused entirely on progressing the plot. If you would like to take a personal moment with others, you can make a private thread in the regular forum.
  • All rolls must be done in the #event-rolls channel.
  • Important Links: Spreadsheet Tracker, TLDR Play Sheet Guide, Full Play Sheet Guide
  • Thread Code: 1714C1

Special Mechanics

Hope [ 7700/7700 ]

For the invasion part, think of Hope as a party HP, which we got from rounding the Hold score. When damage is dealt to the entire group or do individuals, they will reduce Hope.
  • Tracking. Narrators will calculate the damage to Hope, so you don't have to worry about it.
  • Healing. Healing any ally recovers Hope by the same amount.
  • If Hope hits zero during this phase, Szofrit will complete the Red Key and engages the group immediately with an attack phase.

God Searing Light

  • Charging
  • ???
  • ???
  • ???

Interjections

Narrators will make intermittent interjections to further complicate the stories. Vulnerable characters are more likely to be targetted by these complications. Beware!

Objectives

  • All relevant free actions, passives, bonus actions, main actions, and armor abilities may be used.
  • You will be able to remake your play sheet and refresh your armor abilities when you reach Szofrit.
  • The invasion phase is slated for 2 cycles at this time with potential post-refreshes.
  • For the sake of targeting, you may only target allies who are pursuing the same objective as you, unless you have 8 movements or 3 ranges, then you may target anyone in the thread.
  • When you lose HP willingly, subtract from your own HP.
  • Inspire may be used in any of the Pursuit Objectives (When Inspire is used to boost contribution, double the amount to each target.)
  • Pick one of the following tracks below to pursue.
Forward [ 00000 / 10000 ]

In order to forge a path forward, you must break past the enemy's defense to get to Szofrit by any mean neccessary. Stick together with your comrades, endure the enemy's attacks, kill or suppress the soul-less machines. You waive the rights to life the moment you step foot onto the warzone.

Should you fail to complete this track by the end of cycle 2, Szofrit will immediately complete the Red Key and engages the group.

Pick one of the options below:

Make a Contribution Roll (Mastery or Expertise) to push through hell and reach Szofrit.
  • Combined Masteries: If a mastery check is used: +5 per MR of a secondary mastery and a third mastery.
  • Advantage: Make a Save (Any - DC 50). If successful, make your contribution roll with advantage.
  • Bonus Actions: You may use any bonus actions that interact with checks or contribution rolls
  • Circumstantial Bonus: If you have any relevant non-mechanical narrative tools that would aid you in this objective, you may spend your Bonus Action to get 2d20 bonus to your main action.
Use your combat actions and bonus actions to contribute to the Forward track. See the list below for non-standard mechanics.
  • Second Wind: Activating Second Wind allows you to recover Hope by triple the HP amount.
  • Vulnerability: When you gain Vulnerability, you may be attacked during the cycle's Damage Phase AND are much more likely to be targeted by Narrators for special events.
  • Protect: If you cancel someone's Vulnerability, they will not be targeted by the individual attacks.
  • Mitigation: You may add your mitigation number to Forward and Hope.
  • Taunting: Has no mechanic but flavor here.
  • SP damage: Add to Forward just like HP damage.
  • Radial Torment: Add to Forward AND one of the pursuit targets.
  • Splash Damage: Add to Forward AND one of the pursuit targets.
  • Area Effect: No effect
  • Heal: When you heal allies, add the amount to Hope and Forward.
  • Buff: When you buff allies, the buff may only apply to attack actions, but you may add the value of 1 of the charges to Forward whether or not the charges are used. Versatile FA may be used. If Versatile BA is used, pick whether to add the 2 heal values or the buff value to add to Forward.
  • Overheal: You may overheal allies during this phase.
  • Inspire: When Inspire is used to boost contribution, double the amount to each target.
  • Sharpshooter, Hyper Awareness, Berserk get the maximum amount.
  • Maneuver: Use your BA to perform special actions without becoming Vulnerable.

Tick Tock is overdrafting herself by tapping into the Handler's Power Reserve to deal the maximum amount of damage she could over the battlefield, stopping you from pressing forward to buy Szofrit time.

As she is teleporting around the battlefield, her body is steadily succumbing a little more to the force of the spatial rupture, making her slower each time.

Tetsunosuke [ 0 / 1000 ]

Tetsunosuke is hiding within one of the Dragonship severed parts, where he is operating many of the Dragonship's mounted weaponry to strike down the invading force.

With a strategic approach to warfare, he seeks to give his allies as much of a battlefield advantage as possible, by using the mounted defenses and his troop to slow the rest of the group down.

Vulnerable
Mitigating 5 damage

They were just barely able to recover from the forward operation before the full scale assault began. Explosions that left the laboratory facility in absolute ruins had left a ringing in his ears, but the chaos sang sweetly enough that Jin still wore his satisfaction on his sleeve. There was discontent in the ranks over whether or not the Magia were beyond salvation, but luckily, there hadn't been enough time for that sentiment to travel to the group Jin had returned with.

Thanks to his omission of the details of the message from @Rael , at least for the moment, @Valmont , @Lilith , and @Inari were entirely in the dark about the possibility of mercy for their current enemy.

According to plan.

That meant more confusion. It meant a failure to communicate, and could be reasonably utilized at a critical moment to Jin's advantage- and no one would ever know that he'd been the wiser. The heaviest armored and those built for drinking in damage took the forefront of the line, and though he was not a dedicated defender, that did include Jin. Out of all of them, he was most suited for soaking abuse and surviving it.

Jin was a monster built to challenge the very gods.

He unsheathed his blade and ran the weapon across his forearm, opening a wicked gash that began to spew crimson across the battlefield. Those around him looked at the Bloodsworn in disgust and guarded disapproval. The deluge of gore spilled to the ground with a healthy sloshing sound and pooled out at his feet, mixing with the mired dirt and grime before slowly snaking its way up his legs and clinging tight to his body.

"We are in need of a battering ram," he announced in a loud, clear voice, "and today, I am feeling most generous. Allow me the courtesy."

Truth be told, Jin was chomping at the bit. War in Terrasphere was horrific and brutal, and standing at the forefront was surreal. It was like being teased, and the longer that he had to wait, the more impatient he became. Better to take the ultimate risk and fling himself into the enemy ranks than to feel the ennui he would leave behind any longer.

"Aye, get on with it," one soldier bleated discontentedly.

Jin's lips curled in a wicked smirk, and he let the shell of crimson harden around his flesh, thickening and building as he began to pick up speed. Though he was not a dynamism user, he augmented his bloodflow to carry adrenaline to his extremities, forcing his athleticism to its apex.

In doing so, he was like a wrecking ball as he smashed into the enemy line.

Her cloak was cast aside. Only gauntlets and plated boots remained. All she needed and nothing more. Her chestpiece had been cast aside, leaving her wearing the newbie tunic every Starcalled started with as her top. Worse for wear, stained with dirt, sleeves torn apart long ago. Armed only with Last Hope and the flames that crack across it's edge. The blade hungers for blood, and yet it remained on it's sheath this time around.

Speed over resilience; It proved useful when bullets came raining their direction. Having never felt this light, it almost felt unfair for her, so used to the burden of armor, to waltz across the battlefield as if her body moved on it's own, defending itself with sheer instinct rather than thought. Her frenzy came to a stop once golden eyes tracked down their target, and not a signal was given to the group as she turned in her direction, hoping her lead was enough to let them know where they are heading. They had to trust her, just as much as she had to trust every single one of them.

The spiked chains seared into her flesh and broke through her gauntlets, the pain kept her wide awake, and their molten iron touch and range would prove to be her weapon to use against the Magia. Unconventional, but that is what they needed now more than ever.

Keep formation. Remember the plan.

Fiora nodded to herself, with no more time to waste in her thoughts, as she instead focused fiery gaze upon @Ronja Bubblyfoot as she took the lead yet again when it came to play meatshield for the group. Bulldozing head-on. A plan most familiar, the same as the last-

@Harper, Get these legs. TEAR. THEM. DOWN!

Two voices blended one with the other in her battle roar as she stretched her hand out for the Tigress to take, every single muscle on that one arm flexing as she threw the woman with all her strength. A literal beastfolk bullet, and a dangerously strong one at that, aiming straight towards Ronja.

Fiora's grasp on her chains tightened after that, energized with adrenaline, blessed with bloodlust, Fiora sent molten chains after the magia, with the intent to disarm her.

And within her gaze Ronja would find every bit of her fury begun to invade her mind, as Fiora's Share Emotion triggered.

Although she appeared emotionless on the surface, Ayna couldn't help but clench her jaw for a moment or two. The sight before them was not at all pleasing to her eyes, certainly not something she wished to greet her. She had "suggested" that @Chrys deal with @Tetsunosuke while @Kamala Graham followed her to the forefront. At least one of those two she trusted enough to follow through with her suggestion.

As much as she wanted to help free her fellow magia, she believed the bumbling meat bag could do it on his own. Chrys did take her down with relative ease when she was rampaging under the puppeteer's control, even though it was the elf's words that actually helped bring Ayna back into the light. Szofrit...

"Kamala, protect me!"

She gave her elven friend a nod, trusting in her devotion to their friendship, before rushing into the fray, dodging whatever was thrown at her, stabbing those in her way. Keeping Kamala's words in her head, she tried her best to keep herself from completely destroying the machines that opposed her. Her spear might be sharp enough to kill, but her mind was sharper. Instead of complete annihilation, Ayna chose to simply incapacitate.

Purple lightning flashed throughout the battlefield as Ayna used her speed to make it look like she was stabbing the unfortunate machines that were in her way, but in actuality, she was shocking them into unconsciousness. Ayna and her team had arrived a bit later than she would've liked, as the magia still had to fulfill her promise to @Rael, delivering her missive to @Hanno Futaba, @Ash Vargold, and @Valmont.

Either Szofrit dies by my hand or she gets freed so she can suffer the same trauma she had dealt us... Either way, I get what I want. I get my revenge.

Pursuit: Ronja

The familiar sound of @Childress’ whistle caught her ears as the small group reached the meeting point, piercing through the headache that threatened to overtake her as it granted Lúthien a short-lived respite. { Rendezvous point up ahead… Imma hang back for a sec or two. } A nod was given by the elf in the proper direction as a familiar brass compass was carefully pocketed, having grasped the coordinates from another passerby that had stumbled into her active comms network.

It started softly at first, and the girl had attributed the dull throb in her head and the uneasy feeling to the anxiousness nestled deep within her chest. It wasn’t until the group had gotten closer to the rallying point that Lúthien had finally figured out what ailed her, a prickling feeling constantly traveling across her skin that was often accompanied by a queasiness deep within her stomach. She had never felt so much magic concentrated in a single point before as it threatened to overwhelm her sharp senses, and that was without adding the large quantity of players and landers gathering as they prepared for a final push towards the Dragonhead.

Sure enough @Fiora had managed to find information on the whereabouts for one currently unbubbly magia, listening carefully as the knightess went over the plan one final time as @Harper joined them.

"I’ll call out over our link if I see her doing anything sus,” Already the blue-haired magia had shown how crafty and slippery she could be, but this time there was no blizzard to hinder Lúthien’s vision or glitchy UI comms getting in the way of things. "It’ll be easier to surprise and corner her if we can communicate without Ronja hearing us."

A final manual check was done of their equipment and armor and, once all preparations were completed, the team began heading towards the last known location of their missing friend. Fiora was the first to spot the tinkerer, Fiora taking the lead again as they quickly shortened the distance between the group and Ronja. { @Yu, she’s currently at your two of clock—nnngg! } Her speech was interrupted as the emotions of the knightess flared up once more, an unknown voice mingling with Fiora’s when the woman called out to Harper as they initiated their operation.

Two arrows were pulled from her quiver and nocked onto her bow, the ranger’s brows furrowing as she strained to focus and infuse their metal tips with their usual lightning charge, before aiming them towards a drone as it attempted to flank the group. The first arrow missed its mark entirely, a frustrated "Tch!" escaping her lips before the second landed true and knocked the drone out of the sky. It crashed into another one of Ronja’s constructs, knocking it out of balance before a sudden burst of purple lighting ensured both magitech creatures were out of commission for the time being.

50 Mitigation

This is it.

Everyone was assembled, all the landers and starcalled who protected the world yet and yet again. Red Fever was almost one year ago, and now they were all united against one single threat again. The sight of familiar faces. Of course, some had quit, good for them. Maybe a lot had died, too.

Save for a couple or more, no one knows her. It makes it easier for them when she falls in the battle.

The initial assault was ruthless. People were quickly dispatched left and right, screams of pain and cries filled the battlefield as the Dragonship weapons sang their song of war. This was the exact scene straight out of Corvella's memory, but this time, people were united. The tragedy will not repeat.

And so, she departed to the thick of battle. Everyone else was either pushing forward with her or was trying to save their magia friends. For Lune, she just has to cut the head, and the rest will fall.

"Allow me to borrow the form."

Slowly but surely, she walked menacingly. A translucent and faint figure of a familiar-looking gigantic armor manifested in front of her, blocking the projectiles and attacks from the Dragonship as it moved with the woman.

So it was now time to advance. Langley found himself swept up among the tide of people making their way to the front, marching along to the vague formation that the people around him were falling into. It was a punishing pace that they were keeping through the storm of bullets and lasers and who even knew what else, one that Langley wasn't entirely used to. He soon found himself lagging towards the back of the pack.

Luckily, he'd been working on his Shadowstepping. He'd been making little skips via the shadow expressway, stepping into the shade cast by some wayward rubble before emerging from the shadow of a fellow soldier further up ahead.

As he set off, he called out, "Anyone else who wants a shortcut up ahead, just hop in after me!" towards the others who were also threatened with being left behind by the advancing army. He wasn't sure exactly how long he could keep up the connection between shadows, but it was enough for a few people to follow behind him, at the very least.

Everything was going well--up until he emerged right in the path of a menacing quadruped machine.

A little red bead of light settled on his forehead.

"Whoa!" Langley threw away all thought and dove forward, hitting the dirt just as a laser beam that would have taken his head off blasted through the air. Hopefully no one who had taken his shadow portals had yet emerged behind him. He didn't have time to check; the machine was already rearing back for another shot.

Rolling to his feet, Langley took the fight to the machine. Smoky black energy coated his fists and feet as he lashed haphazardly out at his mechanical enemy. Out of the corner of his eye, he barely registered little circles of fangs appearing in the areas where his and the machine's shadows overlapped: the Maw emerging to have some fun of its own.

Still wounded, but determined

Hanno's skin continued to prickle on the burned left arm. He couldn't have a proper grip of his shield with his weakened arm, keeping it on his back while it had its mundage form, so he could keep the entity released from it in its usual disguise of a faerin youngster.

"Are you sure we can't bite them this time, Hanno~?" She smirked, swaying her tentacle tail.

"That was never really an option-" Hanno huffed, wincing and casting her a glance. "- Same goes to Szofrit, we can't let the same thing that happened to Eve to repeat." His fist clenched as he continued on a run. The priority, however, was on the corrupted players for now.

"But if they are too much of a baddie, you can bite them, Ghast. Just try to not bite too hard." He said.

"No promises~" She snickered, charging forward as she slammed against the machinery that was thrown at the direction of the group that tried to open their way to @Tetsunosuke, who was hiding well behind the wall of constructs while he strategized their doom.

Hanno threw his right fist forward, sinking his fist into a nearby sentry, breaking through its carapace and swinging it to throw at a turret that was making their advancement difficult.

As a retaliation, a barrage of deadly projectiles were sent flying at the direction of the group.

"Ghast!" Hanno roared, and the fake faerin perked up, quickly putting herself in front of the barrage, opening her mouth widely, with a strong force suddenly redirecting most of the bullet hell straight into her as she sucked it like a vacuum cleaner.

"Yum!" She sighed a black smoke out of her lips as she was done, leaving the remaining projectiles to be defended or avoided by Hanno and the others.

"Good job, buddy-" He said, then focusing his gaze on the corrupted magia, releasing a threatening aura for the enemies, and an encouraging one for the allies, even if they were before a horde of ferocious machinery that tried to slow them. "We are almost there, BRING THEM DOWN!" Hanno exclaimed.

Standing up, Alcea winced as her body's protests made themselves known. Before joining the group headed straight for the frontlines, she made sure all her mirrors were in place. That looked to be the largest group and with that sample size, there were always a few reckless ones rushing ahead of the others. As she watched the wave of adventurers crash against the battles, she made the irritating observation that she didn't really have a good way of getting to where she needed to be.

At @Langley's call, she didn't hesitate to jump into the shadow portal. Okay, maybe she did a bit but there was something growling and snapping at her so could you really blame her? Before she could think about whether or not it was a good idea to get into the back of a stranger's shady proverbial van, she was out the other end and nearly exploded to a passing shot from some magitech abomination.

The dust didn't even have time to settle as she called upon one of her mirrors. Reaching into the void, she manifested a lance of solar energy and jumped into the battle. Calling upon her admittedly rusty skills, she found that it was easier than expected to get into the swing of things. Alcea focused on fighting defensively, covering holes in Langley's reckless, but admittedly effective, offense. It was a bit difficult to really land solid blows when the beastfolk's fists were flying everywhere but the hits he did land hit with much more force than she was expecting. Still, the battle had just started and the man was fighting like a madman. Any really solid hit might do him in with the way he was going at it so she decided to try and pull his aggression back.

"Hey, ease up there. The fight's just begun, don't burn yourself out too fast."

With her eyes closed, she spoke calmly to @Kyanna Wynne as she closed her communication route through the drones that she scattered across the battlefield.

"Simply being here is too dangerous. We can't even tell if any of this will work at all... none of it may come to pass. But if it does... I'd hope you would be there supporting me rather than trying to stop me."

Kyanna herself did something far too dangerous not too long ago. With so many brainwashed magia, she charged through them all and hugged someone who, too, was possessed by the Handler's lullaby, eager to kill the witch. It was in part thanks to a miracle that MAI had regained control as quickly as she did, stopping herself from harming her own friend.

Forced to watch herself convert allies to the enemy side so that they could possibly kill someone she knew... or be killed when none of this was what they wanted. Pushed into all this bloodshed simply because of the race she picked. It all made the Magia so mad... but it was also all part of the reason why she had to stand firm here. Why she needed to calm down and help to end this strife... peacefully, if at all possible.

"Report - I've finished extracting information from the sentry. Tick Tock is using the enemy's warp technology, so her exact location cannot be pinpointed. However, I can simulate a route so we may intercept her."

Two smaller drones would fly out, stopping in front of Kyanna and @Eva respectively, before projecting a simplified map of the area with the calculated route. It was unfortunately not 100% accurate, but it was probably the best she could provide right now. The tools with which MAI could help in this situation were... limited.

+52 to a roll from @Hanno Futaba

I reckon that one of the strengths of going full yeehaw with my character build is that I have the eyes of an actual, literal hawk. I have a clear view of the whole battlefield. I can do the Clint Squint and practically see the dirt underneath the fingernails of some bastard raising his sword in the air. And--most importantly--I can see the individual blond hairs on the traitorous head of the fucker who tried to kill the Lord Commander as he darts from hiding place to hiding place, giving out orders to the renegade magia.

He Whose Name I Can't Be Bothered To Remember Correctly is hiding inside some of the mangled parts of the Dragonship, directing both the enemy and some of the still operational weapons to fire upon our advancing forces. But as the weapons glow with energy before blasting away, I can see their minute movements and hop on comms to tell people to get the hell out of the way.

Hey, it's safer than actually joining the fray. I've already done my reckless act for the day.

-9 HP from Corruption

Kyanna glanced at @MAI, shaking her head. "Don't overthink it, Mai. What I did is what I would do any time, and if I ever have to do it again to help you, I will." She said, resolute as she turned her face to focus on the path they were taking, holding her totally-not-a-broom staff that she held close to her chest.

"And now, it is Tick and Tock that needs our help..." Kyanna muttered, sliding a glance at @Eva, the one that was probably the one that was most being affected by this situation, even if her face failed to reveal any emotion she would be thinking about it.

Eva was helping Kyanna to find someone precious to her, and Kyanna had to do the same. Besides, as annoying as those twins could be... The peace caused by their absence was a saddening one.

Taking a deep breath, Kyanna nodded. "Then, it is time for us to intercept her abilities..." Kyanna said, and at the moment they would finally spot them, thanks to MAI's simulation, Kyanna would thrust her staff forward, erupting a powerful corruption that vaguely spreaded across her hand and wrist, leaving a purple mark behind that resembled a bruise, as she spoke words that one couldn't understand.

A corruptive pulse escaped from her staff, in the form of a transparent beam that distorted the air in an eerie way, snatching Tick Tock's route and staggering her teleporting temporarily.

"Eva!" She called, trying to bring her attention to the twins.

"We are almost there, BRING THEM DOWN!"

The Starcalled rushed forward in a wave, their triumphant voices lifting into the air with every yell and scream they release.

It doesn't drown out the swarm.

She moves to take a step forward, her brow pinched in concentration over what she was preparing to do. A wince contorts her features as an explosion makes the ground tremble and the screams of those injured in the line of fire rend through the air. But she stops when she realizes that [ @Madison Freebird ] is not moving with her. The corners of her mouth turn down and the swarm rebels between her ears, the clicking, buzzing, snapping of millions of insects attempting to draw her attention.

Into the fray, Sheriff, Nyx says, violet eyes pinned to the other woman's face. But she still refuses to move, instead turning and calling out locations into a communication device that Nyx could no longer access.

The swordmistress's nostrils flare, but the scent of fear does not emanate from her pistol-wielding partner. The bouquet arises from those around them, those putting their lives on the line for their friends and being cut down for their confidence. It makes the jagged smirk that crosses her mouth even more feral even as the shadows from downed bodies and machinery begin to lift and curl around her legs, dragging her down.

Coward, she whispers in Madison's direction, but there is no heat behind the word, no ire. Guess you're buying dinner.

Her free hand lifts in a mockery of a salute. See you on the other side, sugar.

And she disappears in a cloud of shadow, only to reappear inside the belly of the ship, alongside other melee fighters that were cutting their way toward the deranged magi controlling this section of the battlefield.

Explorers League
Pursuit: Ronja

Without a sound he ran through the snow, bounding over the fallen rubble, bodies not yet stripped of their delicious flesh. The scent of his prey hung loosely in the air, shifting constantly, and almost imperceptible in the bitter cold winds of the blizzard. He'd known colder though. Smelled, saw, felt nothing.

There it was, that scent. Half fleshy-half metallic. He bounded off in the direction the scent was coming from, chasing after it's source. He hardly bothered to look to his left or right, knowing that two Bone-Hounds were right beside him as he hunted down the prey.

A flash of red light zipped passed, and was followed by a yelp and the clattering of bones. Another, and the hound at his right collapsed into the dirt, kicking up the snow before crumbling to dust. He looked up, at the figure floating at the sky. A red light glowed briefly, blinding him, before he saw nothing again.

"Yu, she's currently at your--"
"I know," the man muttered to himself as he took aim. "I just summoned those three..." A new experiment he'd been testing with two, their fangs coated with his own blood to better track those that they bit. Too bad they'd been taken out before Yugam even had the chance to test out his new puppets.

That was fine though, the man supposed as the snow around him began to leech red from him. "Sorry, Ronja." Yugam whispered as he took a deep breath. All around him, the ever expanding pool of blood began to rise, like droplets falling from the ground instead of the sky. Countless blobs of blood hung in the air, their surfaces shifting as they formed a seemingly endless array of sanguine weapons. And with the pull of a single trigger, the bullet, hundreds of blood-formed weapons, all rushed towards where Ronja was.

People were already pushing through the bullets, lasers, and explosions just to get to the Dragonhead. But right now, the white-haired woman had a more important mission. Listening to the magia girl who already gathered so much data from the fallen machines, she prepared everything she got to bring Tick Tock home.

"I can simulate a route so we may intercept her."

"Show us."

She analyzed the map with her photographic memory. "There's a pattern after all," Not only that, but the time required to move to the next location increased every single time they did the jump. "Slight deviation every jump, probably recalculated in real-time. But it is enough, @MAI."

"Eva!" It's coming. Kyanna already pinpointed where the magia would appear next, and was successful in slowing her down.

"Already ahead of you," Several types of grenades were already landing near the blue-haired girl's feet, causing flashes, gas, electricity, and explosions. Rushing into the position, Eva brought out the white twin pistols, which fired several binding electric bolas, trying to shackle the merged Tick Tock as long as possible.

"Come home." She said, still firing bindings at her.

[ @Rael ], Asher begins as he kneels down, waiting for her to hop onto his back. He looks over his shoulder at her, eyes wide, a faint smirk tempting his mouth. One of his sharpened fangs glints in the pre-dawn light for a moment and only a moment before his face falls into seriousness.

There's no way I can catch them, he tells her, hefting her up and locking his arms beneath her knees. He leans forward, his awareness of the battlefield expanding from their singular position. And each time Tick Tock appeared and then disappeared, he sensed it, knew the direction, but it would be nearly impossible for him to predict the next occurrence.

I'm a fucking bull, not a cheetah. He barks out a laugh at his own joke before his eyes flash open and the long red streaks across his body deepen. But, nothing's gonna get in my way at the very least. Hold on tight.

The attack on Finweald left him bereft of words.

Though he worked together with others and they did their best, hundreds of lives ended before their eyes. He scoured through every possibility laid out before them, but fate had sealed itself around them. Erick had been humbled, and not in a kind way.

It took the words of @Hanno Futaba for him to feel remotely like he had done enough, because all he could had not added up. Still, the diminutive shieldbearer had not let it stop him from marching forward, and the Oath Erick had sworn would allow him to do no less. The light had been with him, and through its warmth, some lives had been saved.

Now, the opportunity had come to lead the charge and save many .

Levi stood at the front, he had called the Vanguard to him. Together, they were the brave souls that would push into the Magia's realm of control. His words stayed with Erick. "One death for many lives is still a life lost."

He remembered the words @Crimson Ruby had given him, stern, angry, caring. The way she sat next to him, held him, and told him that he was not allowed to throw himself into danger haphazardly. That he was not allowed to simply accept death so that others would not have to.

He remembered the invigorating presence of the Lightbringer as he offered himself up as sacrifice to save the lives of the others on the Lament. And he remembered the admonishing rendered when instead his body was filled to the brim with power, and he harnessed the light for the first time, blessed by Tyldr.

Today was not about self-sacrifice. He would not run blindly ahead and scour timelines for a fate that differed from the inevitable. He did not need to. Today, with many powerful allies, many Starcalled filled with conviction, he would be the light that shined ahead, the blade that cut through the shadow of doubt, and the trailblazer that showed the way.

"By the light of the Sunsword," the blue-haired youth spoke his incantation, harnessing the Holy Light that burned within his chest- the embodiment of his Oath. His hand outstretched, fingers splayed, he cultivated the warmth in his hand and tightened his grip, forging a shard of radiant light into a reflection of his God's favored blade.

"This war is ours!"

Gilded wings fanned out from his back as he emanated holy flames, sending warmth, confidence, and burning away fear and doubt from those around him. Their lives were at stake, and nothing less than heroism would see them through.

"We go together! As one!"

Just Arrived - No Action

Invasion point - that is one way of putting what this is. A mental remark about the naming of this spot. Zelrius twisted his feet back and forth, one after the other. Looking down at muddied pants, dirty, worn shoes, and the sore feet housed underneath them. From depths of the distant Hylands - a winter spent behind the lines of some of the worst brutes and animals the civilized world of this game would ever have to suffer, to the frontlines of the war against the Magia. It was one thing after another. Between strange dreams with assaulting butterflies, rescue missions for Kings in their own destroyed city, and a fight with the Moonfang, the fun never ended for Zelrius. And now...

Having arrived just in time to see everyone break off, and begin heading in multiple directions, it was clear to Zelrius that showtime had been called before he showed up. Just late enough for the man to not understand what the plans or formations were. Just the way people were divded and lead by the denizens of this world. One of them he could make even with his blurred, shitty vision was the flaming heart of Astor. Unmistakable, as far as Pyromancers went. Facial details were hard to see - but the magic that flowed in some of the bodies was more familiar. The cold, rippling fluid as @Jin carried his crimson laden slashes forward. @Yugam not far, surrounded by a ghastly mist and aura, talking to himself, as he always had.

That was all he needed for the moment. It was enough to know that he had made it back in one piece. On foot, battered, and about ready to quit the game forever. Left with only the thoughts that he'd have been left behind. A deep breath was drawn in sharply through his nostrils, before gloved grips stretched to grab on either side of his hips. Their motion back outward brought with them volcanic weaponry - ashen webs that separated the shimmering ruby colors.

Somewhere along the way, he lost the speed once held and trained for hours. Exchanged for a more measured, stoic approach. Letting the area around him be bathed in fire as each breath drew in, and released outward. Culminating in a ring around the man that whispered of battle. Flames that looked for any fuel, that hungered to be returned to the starcalled scattered across this field. Wanting to be both hearth and smolder. Slow steps now carried him forward, returning Zelrius to the fray.
