As Harper hit the ground with a thud, she let out a gasp. Years of training had ingrained how to fall properly on her mind, but getting thrown from your feet was very different from falling a good few feet from the sky. Something was definitely bruised inside of her, at the very least, yet she couldn't afford to stay down. They had finally caught Ronja, and between her comrades she was definitely the one closest to the fallen Magia.

There was no time to waste. All she had t-

"--!" The sight of Ronja crying stopped the tigress in her tracks. Just enough for the tendrils that shot out of the Magia's body to hit their intended targets. Harper was hit with a few through her midsection, her eyes widening as the pain quickly rushed through her core. And before long, those same tendrils were pulling all of them towards Ronja. It was clear that Ronja was up for one final, dangerous hurrah before going out.

Yet through all of this, one might be surprised to see Harper looking back at Ronja with a smile. "You really are there somewhere... Otherwise, why would you be crying?" Harper couldn't deny that there had been always a doubt in her heart about whether they could recover Ronja back to how she was... But those tears sealed it. The Ronja they knew still existed. They just had to set her free.

"Grow!" Harper shouted, one of her feet glowing green before she stomped the ground, nature energy seeping into it before a small mass of vines grew infront of Harper, the tigress using them as a foothold to stop herself from being pulled into Ronja. Grabbing two of the tendrils embedded into her body, her biceps would bulge out as she used her strength to pull a uno reverse card on the magia and instead launch the magia towards herself. Without working jet boots, there was no way she could alter her trajectory and dodge what was coming.

"Got you!" Playing nice had gotten them almost killed back in Finweald. So as much this hurt Harper, she couldn't afford to mince her strength. "This is really going to hurt, so sorry in advance! I'll pay you whatever you want at the Sweet Dear later!" Catching the incoming Ronja, she wrapped her arms around her torso and held her tight. It was almost like a hug, until Harper spun around and slammed Ronja hard into the ground, knocking her out.

She wouldn't make any objections as @Fiora Di Angelo approached and grabbed Ronja in her arms, only grimacing a bit as she had to take out the tendrils herself. Silently replying with a thumbs-up to Fio's request, she would turn to the rest of the group as the two of them left.

"We still have a war to win. Y'all coming?"

Her tone was determined, resolute. And though still wounded, she extended a fist bump to the two that remained.

Pursuit: Tick Tock

Chaos unfolded all around him, and it was more than he could take. One thing after another came in, and the sheer amount of available information washed around him, threatening to pull him out into the sea of chaos like a riptide. A grand strategist he was not.
Confused and disoriented, blindly following @Jin and his cadre, plans fell by the wayside as their chances came and went. Underneath it all the constant headache of anger thrummed like the beat of the drums of war.
A flash of purple lightning came across him and the others, stopping just long enough to relay a message and information before taking off again on her mission. The message crystalized his chaotic world.

@Rael needed his assistance.

He stopped in his tracks, and those around him marched on. Reaching up he pinched the bridge of his nose and wondered aloud. “How is it that every time I think I’m lost you come along and restore peace.” She has a better head than you. Smiling, he looked strange among the assault team. Not with the thrill of battle, but of someone regaining their sense of balance. He looked up at the lines of red branching across the sky. Time was running out.

He needed speed, and he didn’t have his horse on hand. Two steps and a flair of Arcanamancy put wheels on his feet, they’d have to do. Another thought used a handful of Octahedron like makeshift thrusters to put him on his course far faster than he could run. He practically flew across the terrain, jumping over low drops and launching off of rises to soar briefly. It’s always strange, the things that come to mind during a crisis; He hadn’t been rollerblading since he was a kid. Shortly followed by a thought about how hard it would be to make a personal plane. Plans for another day.

Some time later he’d caught up to the group hunting Tick Tock by traveling, “as the crow flies.” Blitzing around a corner he flashed an arcanamantic panel into existence just long enough to redirect his momentum, barely under control of the speed he’d accrued. Pulling up alongside Rael and @Asher he gave them a two-fingered salute. “I owe @Ayna Nietzsche a drink when this is done. It sounds like you have some big plan, so let me know what you need me to do, yeah?”

While they moved along after their target he would do his best to negate incoming attacks with a liberal application of small hexagonal shields. Either placed directly in the path of incoming attacks, or simply to deploy in front of a moving magia’s face and give them pause long enough for the troupe to get out of range.

The wounds were deep.

He could feel them everywhere, bleeding, festering, throbbing. The Starcalled, the people of Astorea, even the Magia. Though they wore a mask over their true intentions and feelings by no fault of their own, as @Rael and myriad others made plain the truth, it became impossible to see them simply as the enemy. They were suffering, albeit in isolation, and they were not doing it quietly.

Because they suffered, so too did the people of this Land. Bloody conflict raged ahead of them, and Erick watched as the Vanguard slowly and steadily pushed forward in the wake of whatever chaos was being sown. It was an advantage, but he did not savor it. He did not want to fight if fighting could be avoided.

Even after the bitter losses at Finweald, he could not find it in his heart to feel hate. Not toward people who had been robbed of their agency. The wicked truth of this world was that they were victims too; but their victims would not so easily forgive.

To whom, then, did justice belong?

A complex question, one to which Erick had sternly learned the answer when he tried to deny @Lune an artifact that bore Tyldr's light. The God had taught him with a swift reproach that Justice was not overseen by mere men.

Men who, as he could see all around him, could scarce handle the weight of responsibility.

@Magi Heart was chief among those who sow Chaos, gleefully chirping in a dissonant voice about how she would bring salvation through the darkness. He knew in that moment that he had to offer reproach. "Miss Wendel," he called, not forgetting her name. He'd promised her he wouldn't. "What you're looking for," Erick shook his head solemnly. "You won't find it there. In the darkness, I mean. You won't, and neither will anyone you intend to send there."

The Light of his blade, and the Angelic wings that wreathed his form and bathed his allies in protective radiance stood in stark contrast to the fell energies that the woman tapped into. "Like as not," he added after a moment, "I promised that I would not judge you; and while I disagree with your methods, I will keep my word to you. Do as you will. However," he shifted the grip on his blade of Sunlight, knuckles turning white.

"Watch me," he said, voice unwavering. He turned his gaze on the path forward, where uncertainty waited, and death was almost assured. "I will show you another way forward. Another choice. I'll show you a different kind of salvation."

He smiled at her and nodded one last time.

"I said it once already, but regardless of what you choose to do- we go together."

The holy fire continued to burn, a gentle warmth that continued to spread through the Vanguard and like the Lanterns that led the Starcalled into the Maw of the Leviathan, steel them against fear.

"As One."

The excitement in her face had been undeniable as she spotted the familiar faces of @Jin and @Zelrius, the fighter having every intention to join them in the frontlines in order to pave a way forwards for the DPS and support players that followed behind them. No sooner had Toko taken the first step a cry had broken out towards the side, catching the hare’s attention as her ears swiveled to lock onto the sound before her gaze followed.

Two humans and a magia seemed to be struggling as they attempted to subdue a fourth. The combined efforts of @Eva, @Kyanna, and @MAI had enabled them to slowly but surely catch up with their nimble opponent who now seemed pressed to get as far away from the group as she scrambled towards a forming portal.

"H-Hey, stoooppu!"

She barked a command towards the fleeing figure, open palms slamming into the ground as the lepus channeled her magic into the soil. The ground shifted and turned to quicksand underneath @Tick‘s feet as the injured magia scrambled towards her gateway, trapping the injured leg before quickly solidifying again. It would give the others a few precious seconds to try and grab the magia, though it was all the hare could afford without becoming too distracted from her own objectives.

A blast of fire and the heavy scent of rust in the air called her attention to the front once more, Toko now able to taste on her tongue the sudden excess of iron that now mingled in the air. Her steps quickly took her forth, before the familiar figure of @Langley caused the hare to pause and look over. While the beastfolk was doing alright his companion didn’t seem to be in the best of shapes, and the lepus changed her path once more to check over the faerin.

"Daijoobu, Yoosei-chan?"

Toko’s hand came to rest against the girl’s back as she spoke, the comforting scent of petrichor wafting through the air as a warm pulse of energy released from the hare’s palm to sooth @Alcea’s strained muscles and bruises.

+42 HP from @Attia Patal
Narrative Post

Trying to deal with a single magia proved to be one of the tough task. It was adaptable, wielding the wits of a Starcalled and the power of a being that belonged this world.

His weakened state, followed by the chaos of the combat, was enough to overwhelm his senses for a moment, not realizing the approach of a Magia, only realizing it way too late, until a familiar voice called for him, eliminating the enemy before it could reach him.

"Woah!" His eyes widened, seeing the construct being thrown aside by @Attia Patal's strike, as her hymn took over him and softened the pain of his wounds.

"Oh! It is the birdy lady again!" The fake faerin chirped, ripping off a construct with her tentacles.

"Yeah, it is!" Hanno grinned, feeling a bit more confident. "You don't know how much of a relief listening to you song is doing, buddy." He rolled his shoulder, with the prickling burn no longer bothering him as much.

Fighting with a bit more freedom, Hanno tried to spare his left arm as much as he could, going a bit more all-out before the group finally managed to get Tetsunosuke back to normal. As they were done, Hanno peered over to the rest of the magia, sighing when noticing they were starting to be recovered.

"Alright-" Hanno muttered, turning to Attia. "Thanks for your help and save, buddy! But... Things are going to get even more dangerous now." He said, worriedly. He knew Attia was capable, if only skills were taken into account, but it hadn't been long since he saw her in newbie gear.

"Especially if they are-"

"Not wanting to interrupt your silly worries, Futaba, but we better hurry, they are marching more and more toward the robomama~" She nudged Hanno, peeking at Attia.

"Besides, this big sis looks ready to teach them a lesson~" Ghast squinted at the woman with a smirk.

Hanno crossed his arms, partially embarrassed for the call out before sighing and taking a turn, spreading his wings and ready to take a flight.

"Well, if you want to keep going, buddy, feel free to come." Hanno huffed. "But then, we do it like we did with those wolves-"

Except it was much more dangerous now.

Narrative post, narrative damage I guess

@Kyanna Wynne and @Eva seemed to work rather well together. Did the two girls know each other for long? MAI realized that she didn't even really know that much about a person she called a friend. That brief moment of hesitation proved nearly fatal as the controlled magia proved far more dangerous than they would have otherwise been without access to Handler's reserve.

"Warning - That portal is-"

And then, another one appeared. Directly in front of the mechanical girl and sending through it the full force of Eva's bindings and EMP, both restraining MAI and sending her system into a shock that caused her visual sensors into a near-complete meltdown.

"Ş̴̡͚̫̞̉̑̇ý̷̱s̸̡̱̻̈́̃͊̈͆t̷̢̑̎͝e̸̺͊̊̈́̎͘m̷̳̦̙͋̌s̵̗̈́́̚.̴̮̺̦̥́͗.̸̪̩̥͐̀̒́.̴͔̯͛͆ ̷̙͇͈̪͔̈́̿̀a̷̧̖̳͎͇̅͒r̸̩̫͇͙͐̀͒̂̚ẹ̶̗̰͉͂̄̊ ̷̬̀o̶͕͙͉͔̎͛̃̍v̴̯̉́̆̈́̕é̶̯̬́r̷̨͎̈́̍̿̾̋ḻ̴̍̉̀͒o̴͉̼̤͕͉̔̐͘a̵̛̳̱͆̀d̵̹̦̤̠̫̋i̶̬͇̤̱̦̓̅̽̒n̵̢̈́̉̀g̴͉̯͚̓͠-̸̘͋̃̅̍"

A sudden small explosion tore a chunk of artificial flesh from the girl's face and a considerably larger piece from her shoulder, at least partly exposing the internal machinery ticking away. It was not a fatal blow, but one that did do more than just a dent in the girl's hope.

Elizabeth had recovered from her momentary lapse in consciousness and had rested the whole time at the Ruined Palace, courtesy of Hanno pulling her all the way here. She rubs her temple, remembering what had happened. The horrors were, plentiful but the guilt even more. Her heart aches for those she had failed to save and she cursed herself for not saving the one who seemed to need it most. Elizabeth was going to set it right this time.

At least, that was the hope when she engaged the enemy. She found herself split away from her intended target and instead, found herself following @Hanno Futaba to aid him deal with another converted Magia. Her fair share meant trying to keep small fry away as the stronger players like @Madison Freebird could get to dealing with those who could get to the one manning the weapons that rained hellfire upon them. She had almost failed to catch the one who got injured if it wasn't for @Attia Patal's intervention. A sigh of relief.

"Hanno before you fly off, it's dangerous to go alone," Elizabeth holds up her hand towards the much shorter player as a ball of light appears in her hand which quickly dashes towards him and provides him with a pulse of healing energy. It would feel like a calm breeze has brushed over him. "Take this and well, go save more people, doctor's orders." Elizabeth smiles. Once she gave a share to Hanno, she turns to the others who for some reason, she felt needed a bit more to aid them along. Channeling light, she sends them off in the same fashion towards @Aalam Abungu and @Nyx. She was rather impressive by the latter's spectral warship. Reminds her of her father's world war tales.

"MAI!" Kyanna screamed, holding her staff tightly as she took a step forward, hoping to reach for her magia friend, worried about the wounds that melted the surface of her face and shoulder.

But before she could reach @MAI and @Eva, the sudden appearance of @Tick Tock froze her heart, making her pause as she realized the presence of the magia nearing her, with a faint voice making Kyanna pause until she felt something piercing through her flesh.

"A-Ahh-" Her body trmebled, and as she turned, she could see the magia behind her, with a dark blade sinking deep into her body as she coughed, briefly.

"Wh... Why..." Kyanna's eyes teared up, and when the blade escaped from her body, there was no blood. No, it was a clean cut, with the area around it darkened, spreading as she fell to her knees, while her own corruptive magic tried to ward it off her body.

Yet, the damage had already been done.

Kyanna gasped, being hard to breath as a pressure crushed her lungs. She had given Tick and Tock another chance, and still... And still...

"Nnngh..." She coughed, trembling as she stood up.

But it wasn't their fault.

Or maybe it was?

Maybe the corruption was the last push they needed.

As soon as she regained a fraction of her strength, she tried to reach for MAI's hand and run, stumbling and trying to make her way out, not turning her face back to see if Tick Tock were still there or not.

Okami found herself going along with the tsunami. Her blade weaved between foe and friend. She cuts deep through metallic bodies, while nimbly squeezing into any gap between those fighting in this cruel war that are on her side. At least, she believes they are on her side. Before she had even engaged, so many people were scorning her, treating her with suspicion and labelling her an outcast. Just what was the true extent of the controlled Magia's influence that it spread among the Landers and caused this desired bloodshed. She had every reason to believe she was fighting for the side of good, but was it truly a wise decision to turn their enemies into scrap?

She is one of them after all, and she would see those who are allied with the enemy. Fellow players, on the side of evil. Okami heard a distant cry of pain. Was it Magia? Okami did not know. Droplets of oil and blood barely touched her skin as even the droplets of moisture seem slow to her. Every cleave she made, to the outside observer would be blur of pink that seemed to dance through the gaps like a river running through stones. Okami would briefly stop herself to survey on a vantage point. She saw something odd. Were some of the players causing strife? One, who she recognized as @Ueno Mizuki back from the city incident, was even trying to convince the king to reconsider his plan of action. At least that was what she was guessing.

The pink haired woman had already resolved to see this incident through, but she needed to know if she was truly making the right decision. This was still a game after all, perhaps there's more to this plot line than meets the eye? Okami draws her blade as she returns back to the battle, helping the others on the frontline as she dashes past them and helps land a decisive slice on their enemies before moving on, only staying in their vision as a pink blur.

On ever forward.

It was Wolfram's first log-in, and he had met with this kind of event on the way. He was wondering why. of all times, was his UI bugging out on him, making him unable to log out immediately. Was this was a common happening here in Terrasphere or not, he did not know. However, he was told that there was an attack going on both within the world and within the system of this game, and he had heard stories of players, or Starcalled as they were called here, got berserk and attacked other players because they picked the magia race.. As he would put it, they needed debugging at the moment, and so they should be shut down for some time for analysis. But as these players, and the machines that were the the underlings of that which caused it, would not shut themselves anyway, so this should be the time for brute-forcing.

But to do that, he would need to rely on whatever the tutorial inculcated him about the use of the art of alchemy, and boy, it was all the basics that he knew. He could only rely on those basics to make an advanced potion that he would need to at least make his arms and legs dent the metal the magia were made with. And so, mustering what he have learned, he then set himself on making potions that will do this. As he was doing this, something was awakening deep inside him that seems like aiding the whole process, and, he was letting it happen, hoping that the general patron of alchemic knowledge was aiding him for this purpose. A faint dark glow was enveloping his body as he continued his job. After some time, he then completed the potion, but even before the potion was completed, he looked crazed enough to attempt putting a dent on any metal that he would meet. But still, the potion that was made was drunk, and a grand wave of thick dark magical power emanated from his body, as he then moved forward and delivered punches and kicks towards a segment of machines that were at his front, but not even close to his normal range. But oddly enough, as he did that flurry, the machines were pushed away with what seemed to be indentations of his fists and the treaded soles of his boots, as he then crouched on the ground after.

Through the chaos of war, as she flows the ebb and flow of battle, Elizabeth would spot an old friend. At first she wasn't immediately recognized. @Fiora Di Angelo was no longer a blonde, and she was engaged in something truly awesome. She watched as blood and gore made their center stage through chains and other manner of harm. Elizabeth stood still, as the scene unfolded before her. Was this really the same woman who she met that many months ago? She saw someone be broken, and as a doctor, it was her job to see how she could heal it.

Elizabeth immediately rushed over to Fiora, running fast enough to chase after the fleeing elf. She was not going to let someone injured attempt to flee without concern for their own health. However she recognized emotional scars, she saw pain. The worst kind. Elizabeth took a breath and readied her spear as she manages to get to Fiora's front.

"Hey... Take your meds, get you and that girl better okay?" Elizabeth raises her spear, rushing ahead just as a bit more, looking like a javelin sprinter at the Olympics. She slows her momentum slightly, watching Fiora runs past her, then throws her spear as light gathers around it. "DOCTOR'S ORDERS!"

It flies alongside Fiora for a short moment, a brilliant dazzling shooting star that helps to close up Fiora's wounds and relieves the fatigue, the soft tingling of sparkling chimes would ring softly as it passes the elf's ears. It would whizz like a firework past the elf and begin tearing things up in a path before Fiora. It was sparkling, dazzling and shiny light as it cleaved open a gap in the tsunami.

Elizabeth would watch as her spear flew, ensuring for a time, Fiora would be healed as long as she continued to follow her spear. Her attention returns to the enemies that saw she was now weaponless. It didn't matter. An outstretch hand and light gathers into a pillar, forming a spear in her left hand. Light radiates out her body as she channels energy to powerful rays of dazzling divine light. She was a doctor, and she'll ensure her patients are safe. Raising her spear to the sky, she declares a silent oath to herself, before engaging in combat to ensure her patients can make it to safety.

Explorers League
Pursuit: Ronja

For a moment, it seemed that they'd succeeded. With Luthien's direction, and Harper's call, Yugam's aim had been perfect. His bullet snapped towards Ronja's barely airborne form, cracking the air as the hundred of blood-crafted weapons chased after it. Each of them struck true, producing a a frightening sound, somewhere between shattering glass and shearing metal.

Something went wrong though. Yugam strained as he controlled each of the weapons, pushing them forward against Ronja. Metallic tendrils had sprouted from the Magia's body, each meeting one of Yugam's weapons, halting them, dead stop, as they ground and screeched against the metal.

In explosion of sound and red shards, Ronja broke through Yugam's attack, the flailing tentacles destroying or swatting away the weapons. A shout of pain drew Yugam's eyes over to Fiora, blood flying into the air. Before he could even call out her name, another metal tendril slammed into Yugam's abdomen, throwing him to the ground with a pained grunt.

It was only thanks to Harper that Ronja was finally subdued. Standing slowly, Yugam winced. His side was on fire. Something had cracked. He could worry about that later though. "Luth!?" Yugam called out as he started to move towards Fiora. "You good?"

"Harper? Sound off."

He checked in with each of them, one by one before making it over to Fiora. "End her. All of you, end her. For Ronja, and for me. That is my last request," she said as she began to lift Ronja up, ignoring her marred ear and sightless eye, more a gaping, bloody hole now.

As Fiora left, Yugam watched her go for a moment, carrying Ronja in her arms. Their silhouettes faded into the white flurry of the blizzard, disappearing entirely.

Yugam pressed his hand to his side, a violt glow briefly flaring up and then dying as he hissed in pain.

"We still have a war to win. Y'all coming?"

Yugam looked over to the other two and nodded. "Let's go."

Agonizing.

Emotions not her own flare within her chest, elevated to highs unknown by virtue of abilities of her own choosing, and she can do nothing but watch as the onslaught unfolds.

Their pain, their fear, erupts like wildfire. Stunned, she is but a witness to the massacre that tears their frontliners apart as their emotions keep her fixed on the spot.

People rush to their places beside her, and Rael, unmoving, falls victim to the empathetic traits of her race pulling one more trick on her. Tears form rapidly and begin to slide down her cheeks, even if she doesn't know any of them, she cries for them. They might not be able to, after all.

Seeking comfort, she reaches instinctively for another by her side, her hand seizing theirs as if it were the only thing to keep her afloat. Rael holds it there for but a moment, sighing deeply to herself as the tears remain uncontrollable, and only then does she peer up at the figure.

"Ah… Oh, goodness, forgive me. I thought you were… Someone else."

It's like a splash of cold water, recognizing her mistake and abruptly reeling back the emotions to keep the elf in check. She lets go of them, and turns to leave.

Right, there is a lot still left to do.

- - - - -

"Hmm?" Asher's request, or offer rather, catches her with her guard lowered, the elf barely tilting her head in his direction to catch the devilish glint of his smile. Her cheeks still glisten from the dampness of tears shed, her eyes still red that she does her best to hide. Push the emotions back, with magic if need be.

It astounds her how even when watching the carnage that awaits them, he is able to smile for the sake of another. Is this what a "Lion" is supposed to be, she wonders as she tugs at the sleeves of her dress to press them against her eyes, scurrying to climb on his back before he can ask what's wrong.

"We join the others however fast we can. There is too much going on, too many unknowns."
Hope, trust, fate, time... All unknowns hanging on by the same single thread, ticking down on some invisible counter that would either spell their success or their demise, but those thoughts do not plague her in the present.

"Asher," she calls for him, leaning backward some for her to look for any changes in his expression as she formulates her next request. "I want to hear your story, sometime. When this is all over, maybe, or far away into the future... I want to hear your story."

Scouts whirling sirens only to crackle and grow silent as gravity distorts them. Sending the useless wish they were jet fighters crashing to the ground.

Regulators launch ranged blasts alongside the Sentinels. They face the magical storm and are consumed. Magi had seen it all before, the astra foresight of Wendy now at Wendel's disposal more than ever in this advanced form.

Overseers come to collect. They instead are collected. A shadowy heel collides into it from above as glimmering dark engulfs it.

The heel hits the floor and then another. The intensity rises but the ever-youthful face of the corrupted veteran changes little. Every now and then a red eye catches sight of more suffering that can be relieved a gentle smile is given as that reprieve is granted. For the rest, a growing madness as the pinkette's grudge becomes more and more erratic, and those she affects forget everything except granting death.

"Miss Wendel,"

Wendel perked up at the name being used. There weren't many she gave it to. Magi was just universally more useful. If anything those times were a mistake. Although, being validated for a creature like her that had only a few years of life to herself was... appreciated.

A hand to her ribbons, more like pieces of her body in the twisting energy that covered her The pale blue eye focused on him. Offering up a possibly sad stare in contrast to the grudgeful and hungry right one.

@Erick Stryker

A random man, but he had many words.

"I will show you another way forward. Another choice. I'll show you a different kind of salvation."

Now Wendel stopped, her hand to her hip and her head tilted. An explosion shook the area as flames and smoke poured over them but Magi's body didn't register it. Salvation was a word she used but for others it was rare. For her, it was instinct. She did not need to hear his beliefs.

"I said it once already, but regardless of what you choose to do- we go together. As One."

Wendel shadow stepped directly beside him and grasped his hand in hers. First gently then tightly possibly causing pain in his palms. This was what she did, and if he was going to help, then she would let him and take what she needed along the way.

She smiled for the first time in this war, a very unsettling one but one all the same.

"Glad to see no harm has befallen you, where have you been?" Though far from a dignified position, Rael still returned @Valmont's salute, with the addition of a wave performed on @Asher's behalf, who was currently holding her up. It suddenly occurred to her, even amidst all the chaos, that she had never introduced the both of them to one another. "Asher, you remember him, right? Valmont the fugitive."

"The plan is simple. It's the execution that is going to be quite problema-..."

Rael fell silent and urged herself out of Asher's grasp, redirecting the attention of the two accompanying her to those fallen on the battlefield. Their mark stood atop one of her fallen victims, the blade just drawn from @Kyanna Wynne's torso, and @MAI was no less than a few feet away from them, either. What had occurred prior to their arrival, she didn't know, but what efforts they had started, she'd make sure to see completed.

Tick Tock tore a portal through reality itself by way of attempting one final escape, impervious to Kyanna's pleas and the tears that ran down her cheeks. Immediately, out of sheer panic that she might get away one final time, Rael's innate magic flared outward with the soothing melodies that allowed her to connect to others' emotions.

And there, Rael found some semblance of... loss.

"I d-don't know your names," her hand faltered, as she turned to the fallen @Kyanna Wynne and @Eva, then returned at last her eyes to the twins, "but she is suffering, that much I know. I can feel her, the tears, and the grief, and the... It's..."

An unfinished sentence still held great weight to it, the features on the elven woman's face twisting not with an anger common throughout the combatants, or with the sadness of those in mourning, but with pity. A melody grew, one that only they could hear, one that could take shape and change in accordance with a promise unknown to anyone but Tick Tock.

Lay down your weapon, stop running, there is no need for it anymore...

Was it a beloved memory from childhood? A song she knew all too well? Whatever it was, for as long as it kept repeating itself over and over within their head, obscured all else.

"Get her, now! While I can make sure she won't attack you!"

After the battle to defend the Ruined Palace it came down to the final challenge, to finally put an end to this conflict between meat and metal. It wasn't a conflict Vina was comfortable with, as she rarely was, but as peace-loving as she was she knew that if she hesitated to help her friends they'd get hurt, which meant she had to be part of this regardless of her personal feelings.

At least Ruby had decided to leave, not willing to leave her little sister alone for any longer. Some might consider it wrong to let other people fight such battles, but Vina was happy that her red-haired friend was taking care of her sibling. Especially since it meant one less person for her to worry about.

Of course Fina~ Don't worry, I'll do my best to cover you and everyone else.

She smiled supportively at @Fina Drago, the silver-haired feline who had decided to be part of this fight. The druidic vixen placed a hand on Fina's shoulder before her friend could leave, however, giving her a more serious look.

But in return you have to be careful as well, okay? We're both getting out of this alive.

She was worried that Fina might overdo it if not told to take care of herself. But those words of concern were the only thing she could do to help now: she just had to watch Fina run to the frontlines and get into the thick of things. Freedom was important, even if it meant that sometimes you had to watch your friends throw themselves into danger. But at the same time she found such bravery to be admirable as well.

But Fina had also told her to see if anyone else could use her help, so Vina closed her eyes and focused on her ears. The winds were a mess in this place, countless different techniques and spells and skills pushing and pulling at the air like a thousand puppies fighting over the same toy. Humming to herself she tried to rearrange the winds in a more understandable pattern, but unfortunately she couldn't afford to spend enough energy to get a clear overview of the battlefield.

However, there were two people whose sounds she recognised, and with some quick magic she managed to send both of them a message that relayed her voice right next to their ears.

Hello there @Hanno Futaba. I see you're in the thick of things as usual. Don't be afraid to ask me for some healing if you're getting hurt protecting others heroically, okay~?

I haven't heard from you in a while @Zelrius. Maybe we can talk after this? You do seem to have become even more handsome than before~

While sending wind whispers to her friends was comforting it wasn't what she was here for. Vina kept listening to the winds, wondering where best to ply her trade.

There was someone else on the battlefield that Vina hadn't talked to in a while. As usual @Cleo Looker was quite busy doing her own thing, manifesting a forest of spears through a mastery of the arcane arts and hurling them at the weapons the magia were using to bombard the approaching Starcalled and Landers. Vina would rather not interrupt her friend, but she also wanted the lancer to know that the vixen's support was available should she find use for it. In the end she sent a wind whisper towards Cleo as well.

Make sure not to overdo it Cleo! I'll be here if you need help, so don't be a stranger~

Tapping her staff she frowned, then sent a quick wind whisper towards Levi (@Raid Boss) as well. The leader of the Lions could possibly make use of her abilities once he had time to get his bearings.

Squire Vina reporting for duty~! Ready to heal the wounded.

That said, she couldn't just wait for the red-maned knight to give her orders either. People were already getting injured left and right, so Vina began to channel her energies through a rising melodious humming. Around her the winds rose as well, moving to the rhythm of her tune as she sent them towards those who were risking their physical health to bring about a brighter future. Her invigorating song would rejuvenate them, sealing their wounds even as the vixen's soothing song filled their hearts and minds to comfort and bolster their spirit.

One person in particular who caught her eye was a caenis young enough that she wondered if he really should be here. Of course, age in this world didn't accurately reflect maturity, at least for the Starcalled, but she still winced as she saw him push himself through alchemical enhancements, beating up metal opponents without regard for the damage that was inflicted upon his flesh and blood body.

Closing her eyes Vina focused, gathering more energy for a stronger healing spell that would restore the boy's(?) physique. Even if he was doing this voluntarily, she still couldn't watch and let it happen.

❰ Life Lyrics ❱

A strong rhythm would travel through the winds to wrap themselves around @Wolfram Schwarzschild and echo in his mind, strengthening his heartbeat as his skin and flesh knit themselves together. Like the heroes of legends he would rise stronger than before, rewarded for his bravery with a second chance to chance fate with his own hands.

After all, while Vina didn't like these kind of warlike situations, it were times like these that heroes were made. And even if it wasn't today, at least she could feel better knowing that one more person would make it through this ordeal alive.

Super Vulnerable

Adrenaline burned like a wildfire: searing through exhaustion and loosening its hold on her limbs. Excitement, fear, curiosity - the woman was a whirlwind. However, instead of being caught in its tumultuous winds, she was the eye of the storm. Gravity weakened as she rode an air current toward familiar faces (electrical charges sent at any approaching enemies).

"Red! Tardigrade!" her voice chimed as she joined the ranks of @Zelrius and @Jin. Her light-hearted smile appeared unnatural amongst the chaos. "Looks like my old friend is charging up. Let's dismantle that bastard. Although... You were curious about what being vaporized felt like, weren't you Mr. Tardigrade? Well, now's your chance." She attempted to nudge @Jin as her eyes fixated on the God-Searing Light that had claimed her first life. Past reservations about the event had dissipated completely. Rather, she looked charged and ready to go.

Aerial released the storm.

She twirled the wind round and round again. Debris was recklessly absorbed into the twister, threatening to unleash shrapnel at any moment. The mini cyclone grew the more momentum it gained until it resembled a true tornado. Well, as close to a replica as Aerial could produce with her power.

The howling winds tore through the ranks. Once it successfully infiltrated the opposing army, Aerial supercharged her elemental disaster with crackling electricity. Lightning flew unpredictably from the midst of the cyclone.

Commandeering the storm she created, however, left the woman vulnerable to attacks. A risky maneuver but where was the fun in playing safe? But maybe that was just her Death Affliction pressing her forward, throwing caution to the metaphorical and now literal wind.

Vulnerable Negated by @Alcea

Time slowed to a crawl. Langley felt as though he were slightly removed from his own body as he watched the machine he was fighting hit the dirt. Its metal carapace was dented and ripped where his and the Maw's strikes had landed, and there were holes and other cracks from where it had taken incidental damage from the surrounding fight. His entire body felt like a live wire, a growing wave, a pulse. He could not hear anything aside from his own blood rushing through his ears, could not see anything except the oil seeping from his downed foe...

...And then he blinked.

He was himself again. More than that, he was unaware he had ever been so close to leaving himself. Only slightly dazed, he registered the voices of people nearby, and saw a white-haired ('...white-hared...?' his mind offered a half second later, the pun coming to him more slowly than it would have otherwise) woman speaking to a faerin who stood right by his side.

He hadn't even noticed she was there. But he noticed what @Toko also did; it was very hard not to see that @Alcea was singed and shredded all over. Not all injuries that she could have gotten from the laser-using enemy.

"Huh," he said, "What happened to you? You look like you got blown up."

Pursuit: Ronja

Even from this distance she could see the tears that stained the synthetic flesh of Ronja’s skin, the pained look on the magia’s face even as her body continued to fight those she loved. It clawed at her chest and wrenched her heart, but they couldn’t afford holding back now—not if they wanted to bring their friend home… ka-chink-ka-chunk-ka-chink-ka-chunk… Her ears barely caught the sounds of gears shifting and turning, snapping the ranger out of her own head as her gaze focused on the magia once more—Ronja had always been full of surprises.

{ Fuck! Guys look out— }

A feeling of déjà vu washed over Lúthien as her warning came too late once again, biomagitech tendrils sprouting from the small blue-haired girl as they seeked their targets with reckless abandon. "FIO?!" The harrowing screams of the knightess ripped through the air, but there was no time for Lúthien to come for her air as another tentacle quickly sped towards the elven girl.

She reacted on instinct as unwanted memories quickly flashed in her mind, a translucent barrier hastily created before it was quickly shattered by the rushing appendage. It’s work however had been completed, having bought the elf precious seconds to charge up her lightning, and when the biomagitech limb finally touched Lúthien a thunderous boom echoed as she released all the energy into it and caused the tentacle to disintegrate.

”Luth!? You good?”
"I-I’m okay…!"

The elf shakily got back to her feet after that burst of lightning, her eyes seeking out the hunter to visually confirm he was safe and sound before passing to the other members of their small party. "It’s finally over…"

Intermission

She watched @Fiora walk away with @Ronja in her arms, following the duo with her gaze until they finally stepped out of her network range. A sharp exhale caught her attention, a concerned look casted in @Yugam ‘s direction, before @Harper extended a fist bump out towards her.

"We still have a war to win. Y'all coming?"
”Let’s go.”

Her own fist rose to bump softly against the one Harper offered, a light nod of her own given to them both. "Yeah, time to check how things are in the frontlines."
