Cycle 4D
Mammonite is in my blood.

It was an easy way to make money off of the brainiacs in the makeshift camp, they said. Like plucking coins growing out of trees, this was supposed to be a cakewalk not unlike your average fetching quest. Alas, after receiving some rather… Inconclusive, and… Shady information from the absolutely capable scouts of your glorified fetching team, you arrive at a scenery straight out of a bad horror movie montage. Dead trees dotted the landscape and a thin verdant fog clouds the distant areas. Perhaps more pressing than anything, however, was the ground, or…

The near-lack thereof.

An invasive stench assaulted your nostrils, likely coming from the knee-deep green and viscous substance that swamped the area. At the center, a small and ancient temple stands tall above slime-level, where a few adventurers carefully peek into to scout for any danger ahead. Regardless if you can stomach the feeling of dragging yourself around the awful jelly-like swamp or not, everybody appears to be waiting for instructions.

Suddenly, high over the dead trees, up into the skies, something was falling.

Was it a flying alligator? No, my fellow adventurers!

Perhaps a dragon?? Silly, those don’t exist in Terrasphere™!

It was…!

SPLOSH!

Something — or perhaps more accurately, someone — landed at the center of the gathering adventurers, generating a glorious wave of greenish goodness that would splash on the most slow-feeted of you (optional, roll a reflex save, DC 60, to dodge!). As the stench became worse and the wave of slime subsided, a man stood tall at the center of the great slime crash. Oddly enough, over his mighty shoulder, was a felis girl carried much like a bag of potatoes. Both of them had tags around their necks: an orichalcum one for the human, and a mithril one for the felis.

oooooOOOO-HAH! The best always arrives last, babies! (He flashes a blinding smile at all the volunteers.)

You were expecting a waifu, but it’s me, Trevis! Trevis Crownsley! The man, the KING! This lovely cat here is Caccu, and we're here to guide you in these trying times!

Put mye down already… (the unamused girl rolled her eyes, watching the clouds passing by.)

‘I’ll make this short, guild and potential-guild babies! The brainiacs back in the makeshift lab need FOUR things. (He raised his hand striking a fancy pose, fingers illustrating his numbers.)

Nyou’re using three fingers, nyot four.

Ignoring the felis he cleared his throat before continuing.

Our baby scouts have managed to find this little wonderful pool of goodness, where all the ingredients they need happen to be right here. We’ll need a live trilobite thing, a bunch of manashrooms, some slime cores, and a few dragoraman roots.

Myandragora.

Don’t sass me with your catspeak! (he whispers at her, before he clears his throat once more, whipping his hair back.)

A-Anyways! We can find the dra- uh, mandragoras and the slimes here, outside, but the fun guys and the trilothings are probably deeper into the temple. We're adventurers, and the only rules are don't fight each other and anything else you find is first come, first serve!

(He nodded at all the volunteers nearby before continuing.)

I trust your ability to look for things on your own or together, my babies. We don't partake in the absolutely nefarious act of hand holding here. This is as far as our briefing goes!

Ring a ding ding, my babies! The coin's FLIPPIN'! Whoever gets the least materials is gonna pay the booze for everybody when we return!

(he ushered the volunteers with a simple salute, before side glancing the felis.)

Ah, babycat, my other half. Don’t you think this is nostalgic?! (he picks her up, raising her high in the air with his hands as if the felis was weightless.)

Trevis, I’m nyot a kid. Put mye down already…

(She notices the sparkles of pure manliness beaming up on his face.)

...W-wait! Trevis. Trevis! Trevis CroWNSLEY JUNIOR! You KNOW what I myean, don’t nya DARE --- (her face contorts in utter despair as she warns him, but it was all to no avail.)

Trevis puts Caccu down on the 'ground', and the slime welcomes her with an unceremonious

Plop.

Don’t look down, babycat! (He gives her a wink before he rushed on his own, venturing deep into the temple.)

‘...’ (Caccu silently watched as Trevis disappeared, immobile as though she was a statue.)

Her eyes needlessly blinked several times, followed by the twitch of one of her ears. Nervous sweat begins trailing down her fair skin, up until the point she turned into a living waterfall. And then, she at long last looked down; and the sticky-green abyss gazed back at her.

‘…’

She tried.

Her green eyes teared up, and her legs trembled as disgust took over her reasoning and pride.

She really tried not to -

NYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!’

    2. Damage: If you rolled below 50, Take the damage listed in the ingredient you're trying to acquire.
    3. Unlock: Check if you meet the requirement to unlock the unknown information on each card.
    4. Loot: Is your die roll (excluding modifier) above 90? At the end of this thread, you will be rewarded with custom loot! (Note: The loot given will go into your player storage.)

Swamp

0 / 1350 HP

Ingredient A: Mandragora

These toxic plants thrive in this inhospitable area, where they can't easily be pulled out by other creatures due to the pool of slime protecting them. If using either Awareness or Knowledge for your roll, check if they meet the unlock mechanic for the hidden information listed down below.

Damage: If your actual die (excluding modifiers) is [50] or lower take 20 damage from the wonderful screaming therapy.

Secrets
  • ??? (Requires a Presence check of 80 or higher.)
  • ??? (Requires a Knowledge or Awareness check of 70 or higher.)
  • ??? (Requires a Knowledge or Awareness check of 80 or higher.)
  • ??? (Requires a natural roll of 90 or higher.)
  • If too many of them scream, then...?

Ingredient B: Amberslime

Amber-colored slimes that quietly swim on the inanimate expanse of stinky jelly. Their diet favors most inorganic matter such as armor and weapons. If using either Fortitude or Knack for your roll, check if they meet the unlock mechanic for the hidden information listed below.

Damage: If your actual die (excluding modifiers) is [50] or lower take 15 damage. The slime will munch on your armor and weapon, splashing acid on you. Take a shower, won't you?

Secrets
  • ??? (Requires a Presence check of 60 or higher.)
  • ??? (Requires a Fortitude or Knack check of 70 or higher.)
  • ??? (Requires a Fortitude or Knack check of 80 or higher.)
  • ??? (Requires a natural roll of 90 or higher.)

Temple

0 / 1350 HP

Ingredient C: Manashroom

Small glowing mushrooms that have overtaken the inner structures of the ancient temple. Over several years, they have been feeding on the mana of all sorts of animals that perish on the surrounding slime. As a result of contact with these overcharged mushrooms, the hidden and malfunctioning magitech of the temple has been activated.

The walls, ground, structures and stairs inside all move at random intervals, seemingly moved by an invisible force. The internal dilapidated structure of the temple apparently has no bottom, ending up in darkness, but considering the amount of vines and platforms it's unlikely that you'll fall deep.

Damage: If your actual die (excluding modifiers) is [50] or lower take 20 damage. You suck at platforming. Have you ever played Super Mario?

Secrets
  • ??? (Requires a Presence check of 60 or higher.)
  • ??? (Requires a Knowledge or Awareness check of 70 or higher.)
  • ??? (Requires a Knowledge or Awareness check of 80 or higher.)
  • ??? (Requires a natural roll of 90 or higher.)
  • Don't look down.

Ingredient D: Verdant Trilobite

An anomaly within the area, it's theorized that some of these creatures have been infected with the red fever, yet have managed to survive thus far. However, they are immensely sensitive to motion, to the point they reacts to the most subtle movement. As a result, and considering their diminutive size (about 27 inches in circumference), they're easily the hardest ingredient to get your hands on. A rather unique 'ingredient', these creatures must be brought back to the MIT alive. If you failed your check, your roll still adds to the temple contribution track, but narratively, you either killed it or only managed to get part of the thing.

Make an Expertise Check (any) to attempt catching one of these guys. You must meet a DC of [120].

Damage: If your actual die is lower than [70], the trilobite releases poisonous fumes. Take 30 damage as a result.
  • If you don't bring at least one back to the MIT, then...?

He looked across the... lake of green disgusting slime, blue eyes inspecting the cloud and fluid. Already cautious about the area. The sudden figure falling out of the sky and into the fluid made the blonde man instantly dodge back, feline ears twitching at the moment of their intrusion and swiftly making his way backward. Hands on the pommels of each weapon, ready to draw and strike.

Before it was revealed to be another pair of adventurer's. Who launched into a long speech about what they were here to do. Didn't everyone here know that already? Was this all necessary? Zelrius looked around at his fellow adventurers, and shrugged, following the man toward the temple and into the swamp. He didn't have much of a green thumb, but mushrooms shouldn't be too hard to pick, right? He couldn't fuck this up. Not now, not in front of everyone.

So he was down, on his knees in the fluid, digging around with his hands to find the faint, azure lighting. Glancing up to see where @Moonsong or @Fiora Di Angelo might go and do. Hoping one of them would stay close so that he wasn't just left alone to muck something up. Instead of finding what he was looking for, a yellowish, orange substance bump up against his now drenched arm. A shiver crawled up his spine, arm instantly flicking it and kicking it toward @Celestine in the motion with the back of his hand. "Ah, what the hell is that?" Unaware that this was one of the ingredients they were all here searching for.

She should have chosen the temple. Wading into the absolutely vile gloop was a mistake and she just knew that washing it off would be a pain. She had half a mind to just burn these clothes when she was done with the task but she didn't bring any spare prayer robes. Lost in her ruminations, Sumire didn't notice that she quite literally stumbled on a Mandragora. Ripped up from its roots, the blasted plant began to scream. Really, really loudly. She winced, and on instinct, grabbed the offending object and started to smash it into a nearby rock. Its garbled screams slowly tapered off as she kept swinging and in the end, she was left with what could have been a chunk of Mandragora. It was hard to tell with the goop and damage she had caused to it. She called upon just a bit of water to wash it and her hand. MIT could figure out how to use it, that wasn't her job.

Red Fever (2) - (Fear)

Mio was infinitely uneasy with their mission. Wearily moving through the ruins and terrain with her ears perked up and tail bristled with awareness and alertness the best she could manage. "Mmm... It's so high up... Haha." She spoke, already having second thoughts. Having @Selene close by though she felt a bit better, in the end exhaling her worries and fears the best she could. "Okay... One step at a time then. I hope your's goes good too." She spoke with a sweet smile, not sure if Selene intended on grabbing the same item as her, but Mio certainly tried to reach her own goal the best she could.

She climbed vines and moved through the temples in an effort to reach them, higher and higher. In the end, she gestured with a hand trying to reach a few, her ink covered hand gesturing and swiping trying to construct and build. With a few strokes of her hand and tail she would pluck and retrieve with a inky many joined claw. Slowly pulling it back as the ink receded back into her tail with a small smile when she saw that she got some. "Thank god..." She spoke, feeling a lot more relieved. Almost bouncing on her toes when she did. When they were finally in her palm she tried to bag them up gingerly so as to not damage or disturb them. The ink was also very neutral and under Mio's control to pull back as the shadows bent and moved to her will. Relieved when they were properly wrapped up she turned back wondering if she should try to collect more.

Kat shivered, her clothes still very wet from the rain that she had been dragged in from in order to be a part of this expedition in order to grab ingredients. She hated the swamp, she hated how cold she was, and she hated that she was on this adventure now. She sighed and looked at the slimes swimming around in the jelly. She stepped into it, and grimaced at the goop now enveloping her body. It was cold, and Kat gave another shiver. She hated all of this, she wanted to go home and cuddle with Ryou. Eat a nice dinner. Not anything remotely jelly related though. Not after this. She'd have to tell Ryou not to give her any jelly sandwiches.

She waited for one of the slimes to swim by, and she attempted to take a stab at it with the hidden blade on her wrist. She fumbled with it really awkwardly though and ended up barely grazing the thing swimming past her. It ended up spitting slime all over her kimono, and Kat tried her best to get it off of her as quickly as she could, letting out a scream of fright. She was so incredibly upset at all of this. She wasn't even sure what she did helped in the slightest. She splashed in the slime, and screamed.

"Everything sucks and I hate it here!"

Red Fever (2) - Disgust

"Oh boy hear this one: I leave one game to run away from poisonous swamps, and guess what? 'Oh hey Nico, look! another FUCKING SWAMP JUST FOR YOU, NOW WITH EXTRA JELLO!'" She shouted to the world, to the party, to everthing in this game that could hear her right here and now as she fought to her best ability to push onwards on the path they were all forced into, visually cringing to the point she couldn't keep her eyes down... Or anywhere, really, as the expansive slime lake of sorts went for so long, the sky proved the only option for her to find some respite from this nightmare. At least, until something begun to twitch amist the dark, the extra seconds of awareness giving her just enough time to step backwards as a figure dropped down, almost losing her balance as she did while the instability prompted her to stand still like stone as a reflex.

At the uncalled surprise 'attack' coming from Trevis himself, Fiora gave a look back to the group, deadpan as her bottom lip quivered, and she wasn't the only one as Zelrius practically gave her a shrug at her and everyone else. After this? His spot on her 'dumbasses' list went from #1 to #2, as Trevis climbed all the way to first place.

Explanation concluded, and it could all be summarized as an overglorified recollection quest with a fancy introduction. Great!

"Gosh this stinks like hell." She groaned, pressing her brows tightly as she kept tapping the bottom of the surface with her hands, face turned to the side to keep as much distance from the floor as there could be. Timidly, she crawled around, trying to pat down whatever Trevis wanted them to collect with exceptional care not to grab anything slimey- until something slimey grabbed her instead, and her first instinct at the stinging pain that came with the acid was to stand back up

And yeet it as far as she could while letting out a high pitched scream, curling onto a ball once the amberslime traveled far enough away from her to consider it an olympic throw.

"I don'tknowbutIwannagohomeIhateslimes..." She hastely replied back to @Zelrius, hands wrapped around herself in search of comfort. And he didn't have any better luck, if another flying slime is a tell sign

Fuck Fuck Fuck...

Brutus found himself triple checking every step he took, jumping at every shadow, and second guessing every decision. He was hunting slimes, and he needed to be VERY careful about this. Any damage to his armor or weapon could turn into its destruction, which would result in his death, which could domino into the deaths of his others, which could domino into the failure for the entire expedition. His heart raced at the thought, any one single slip up right now could fuck this ENTIRE thing to kingdom come and back.

As he crept through the swamp, he kept a careful eye out for his quarry and whatever sort of creature might be looking to make him their quarry. Finally, after a bit, he managed to locate what he was looking for. Taking a deep breath, he managed to pounce on the creature, taking it down and taking a fair few samples back with him. Legs quaking, he would live for a few moments more at least.

Easy, right?

What in the bloody hell are these fucking wankers talking about? Poop nuggets! For some reason, Pete was suddenly feeling very angry. As if his temper had been somehow shortened miraculously, his otherwise apathetic demeanor shifting to a more impassioned self with little to no empathy left. Was it the Guild's loudness? Their incessant rambling? Their very animated faces? Whatever it was, Pete had no love for it.

"So we're doing unpaid work for the brainiacs? Psh!" He crossed his arms against his chest in a rather exaggerated manner, even though it was his own dumb ass self's fault he missed the part about coins and shit. "Bah!"

No way was Pete paying for these idiots. Booze or no booze, Pete was in it to win it. He was here to make money, not to lose it. These scammers are trying to rob me out of my hard-earned cash! I'll make them regret this! He swore in his head, just randomly getting pissed at random things that didn't really matter to him in the end. It didn't help that Pete was stupid as fuck.

He stomped his way to the temple to get himself those Manashrooms. "This is so friggin' easy, bruv!" He screamed as he angrily took the stuff, managing to be lucky enough to find a small deposit of the fun fungi. Pete was scowling throughout. Like that one meme involving an angry person, sometimes small, doing well.

Tsk.... Here Kyoko was in the middle of nowhere trying to gather materials for the people to research the strange disease that had afflicted every player. Anytime Kyoko was even mildly entertained by anything her emotion would slightly flare and gravitate to a joyful mood. Kyoko would fight it to keep herself as level-headed as she could. Hopefully it wouldn't get worse....

Either way, no matter what, Kyoko had joined this expedition. Meaning she also, had to participate in the gathering of materials. Kyoko would trudge after @Zelrius. His face being the only one that she knew, even if it wasn't much. She still owed him her life. Kyoko visibly stuck her nose up at the sight of Zelrius covered in gooey-yellow substance. "I think it's..." Kyoko would reach forward, pressing her finger lightly against the slimey stuff. "One of the ingredients. Good job." Kyoko removed her hand of the slime before shaking it off.

Deciding it was time to put forth her own efforts, Kyoko began to look around. Looking for anything that remotely resembled what they were after. Her eyes caught sight of what appeared to be a Mandragora... At least it resembled the hand-drawn picture she was holding.

Kyoko sharpened her eyes, her gaze focused on the little devil. It was just smoking from toxic fumes. Kyoko let out a magical strand, the long string forming into a lasso as she plucked it from its home. She quickly wrapped it as to not touch the toxic potential poison and held it up for Zelrius to see. "Look what I got." Kyoko groaned at herself and shoved her emotions down. The intoxicating emotion she was feeling was worse than what would have happened if she had released the toxins in the Mandragora.... It was joy...

Moonsong slowly floats above the disgusting swamp on the greatsword she conjured like a skateboard. Can't melt what's not even physical, hah. A silhouette of @Zelrius appears in the distance, which prompts her to shout "Hey! Wait up!" This however, caused most of the slimes to turn their attention towards Moonsong.

Luckily, dealing with them is a massive piece of cake, with her not even having to go close to them and just float above, stabbing them with conjured arcane swords causing them to melt and explode. She still had to evade the splashes caused by the explosion. "Ugh, don't want to get splashed with these. My armor is as expensive as it looks." She proceeded to grab many slime cores with the swords and continued on her way behind Zelrius.

"Ah, really, wait up!" All this swamp fever makes her want to slice up someone.

As they made their way toward the location where all the relevant materials could be found Mizuki noticed that her packmates were a bit more energetic than usual, their ears perked up and their expressions relaxed. Scratching them behind the ears she realized she was in a fairly good mood as well: maybe she was just happy that she could once again go on adventures like these.

The swamp of smelly, viscous goo wasn't quite as pleasant, Mizuki's nose wrinkling before her ears twitched and she stepped to the side just as Trevis came down from the heavens, managing to avoid getting splattered by him. Not that it mattered much, since all of them would have to put up with the goo sooner or later.

The man was mildly amusing with his antics, although Mizuki frowned when he dropped his companion in the swamp before heading into the temple. The lupine huntress grabbed Caccu and lifted her out of the swamp, then placed her on a rock which stuck out of the mess.

Where'd you get the idea from that you'd be able to escape swamps while in a place such as Arcia?

Those words were directed at Fiora Di Angelo, who seemed to have been hoping Terrasphere would be bereft of swamps. Mizuki would shoot the blond a slightly smirk before quickly wading through the swamp towards the temple, indicating for her wolves to stay behind for the moment as she didn't think they'd want to enter the swamp if they could avoid it.

Once at the temple Mizuki began to search for the Trilobite that Trevis had mentioned. She'd seen images of the prehistoric creatures before, but why one of them would be here...

After searching the ancient remnants of a past civilization for several minutes she finally spotted one attached to one of the stone pillars that helped keep the structure from collapsing. Her tail wagged behind her for a second and her eyes narrowed before she pounced, hands outstretched to grab hold of the creature. Unfortunately, in her enthusiasm, she wasn't careful enough, and the trilobite ended up crushed beneath her claws.

Dropped down from the pillar Mizuki frowned as she looked at the mess on her hands, then shrugged and turned away to keep looking. There should be another one somewhere...

Red Fever (2) - Fear

Standing closer to the front of the pack, Celestine was first in line for a slime bath. Not wishing to sully her beautiful astrologer’s outfit, she quickly darted back, narrowly evading the initial wave… and slipping straight into it in the process.

"Eww…" she sighed, scraping as much off as possible, then applying a subtle little illusion to make herself appear perfectly spotless before continuing on ahead.

(@Kat Otsu) Celestine watched as a disgusted robot girl took a stab at a slime, feeling a bit sorry for her. Stepping up, the astral mage gave the robot a pat on the head and a gentle smile. "Do not worry. You will be doing a success the next time, I am the certain! Just do aAAAIIIEEEE!!"

Celestine shrieked as a warm, amber slime stuck right to the back of her head like a giant, squishy section cup. She pulled it off with a disturbing pluck, and glanced it over, then glared at (@Zelrius) the one who’d thrown it.

Celestine joined the Felis in lecturing… "What do you think you are the doing!? I will do myself the coming over there and the teaching of the lesson if you cannot be yourself the behaving!"

She tossed the slime back, although her aim was absolutely terrible… (@mina*)

"I will do the temple an explore before this place does me more of the disgusting!"

(@Toko) The inside was still a bit moist… and generally unpleasant. As Celestine wandered along the halls, she noticed someone chasing a small little rocky-like creature, which was desperately scurrying away. However, it quickly found itself cornered in front of Celestine as her illusions created a false dead-end. And then, suddenly, two hands appeared out of the wall, cupping the creature.

Stepping out of the fake wall, Cel slowly opened her hands to peek, only to take a puff of poison spores to the face.

"Cough cough… ack…! Jar!" She trapped it in a jar. Turning to the creature’s pursuer, Celestine waved. "Hi, I am Celestine. Is this thing an important?" The wall behind her suddenly vanished.

Everything was so gross. Why did this have to be like, swamps and dusty temples and stuff like that? Why couldn't they be looking around somewhere nice, like a golden beach or something beautiful? Digging through a swamp in search of whatever these Amberslime things were was not what she would consider her ideal afternoon activity, far from it in fact. It was way too smelly and gross.

Though @Mio Ban probably had it just as bad as her, up in the temple or whatever. Maybe. Actually, that was probably better than being down here, splashing around in swamp water, with these stupid, disgusting slimes that stung whenever she touched them to try to stuff them into jars and stuff. And they were eating at her damn clothes!

"I hate you things. Why the hell do you smell so bad?" Selene hissed, shaking a jar filled with the jellies sadistically, before looking down at the tattered remains of her damaged clothes, scowling.

Surely others were having better luck...

She had been excited about this little excursion an hour ago... however as time passed the Lepus patience began to wane by the second. The sudden assault to her nostrils did not make things any better as they arrived to the swamp, a soft "Tch..." hissed out before Toko's ears perked up. She heard them coming before they arrived, giving the beastfolk just enough time to erect a stone shield around her to avoid the sudden slime wave that assaulted others.

"Nandayo!?!"

With the explanations done travelers each went on their way to their preferred choice and, while the idea of wading through a slime swamp wasn't appealing at first, upon hearing the first hellish scream crying of one Mandragora Toko quickly made her decision: she was going to the Temple. That, however, meant passing by an equally loud and tiny Felis stuck in the muck (Caccu @mina*). The ruckus created by her, @Zelrius and @Celestine only served to grate further into the Lepus' nerves.

"Urusai na!!!"

A hand extended in the direction of Caccu, a pilar of stone suddenly erupting below the Felis through Toko's Geomancy, before the top was shaped into a very rustic baby cradle where the mithril ranked member could sit on and be fucking quiet. With that Toko stomped the rest of her way through the gelatinous lake until reaching the Temple, looking around for anything that might remotely resemble what MIT had sent them out here to gather...

The presence of another (@Cyrus Sylvester) was noticed but also ignored, the rabbitfolk taking a sharp left to try and get herself away from everyone else before spotting a creepy green crawler on the dead end hallway she stepped into. "Bingo, come here you lil' shit..." Slowly she creeped up to the creature before pouncing on it... only to be disappointed as the trilobite wiggled free from her slime covered hands and buggered right off.

"Kusooo...! Tomete tteba!"

English? Who that? Toko certainly didn't know her right now but bless the game for having a translator function. A few vines sprung forth to try and catch the retreating multilegged creature, managing to yank of one of said legs before the trilobite scurried out of view down another hallway path... and into @Celestine.

"Hrrrrnnnng...! Someone catch that little shit!!!"

Red Fever (2) - Fear

Cyrus shivered as he walked through the somber forest – a veritable graveyard of desiccated trees, gloomy mist slowly rolling around at his feet. He rubbed his arms, ears folded down in discomfort, the small hairs at the nape of his neck raised. Urrghh, why is this getting to me…

There was a period of waiting alongside the others. Somehow, the numbers did not feel as reassuring as they had before. He was rubbernecking around, and thus a shadow out of the corner of his eye startled him badly enough that he reflexively took a step back – and safely out of the splash zone created by Trevis (@mina*). "Ah-haha, you startled me there," he chuckled nervously.

He didn't fancy moving anywhere, period. He ignored the cowardly instinct though, and followed after @Toko. Strangely enough, the lepus gave him bad vibes with all the angry shouting, even though he'd usually not mind. Yet, the presence of someone familiar, regardless of their emotional upset, was comforting enough for him to stick with her. For a while.

Cyrus lingered at the entrance of the dead-end hallway she'd entered, peering into it suspiciously. He shuffled to the left --

-- and a section of the ground underneath him suddenly shifted, moving up in a diagonal alongside the wall.

"Uuhhhh," the Beastfolk crouched down, hands trembling. Willing or not, he was along for the ride. Soon, a wide ledge came within sight. There was a small cluster of blue glowing mushrooms in one of its corners. Gritting his teeth, Cyrus made the call to jump across over onto it --

-- but upon his landing, he slipped on a layer of damp moss.

Next thing he knew, he was careening off the ledge. Desperately, he allowed himself to fall to the side, trying to land safely. But he scrambled for purchase without success. His fingers pulled up a clump of moss, smushed some mushrooms, and clenched around the mess. Nothing that would help him right in that moment.

He was off the ledge. His eyes widened. He looked down.

Through the nearby parts of the temple, a panic filled, "IIIIIIIAAAAAAA," echoed. Then a soft thump. Then silence.

As the group dispersed, Regan headed straight for Trevis Crownsley (@mina* ) and pointed to the man's cat friend, then pointed to @Cynna who she was carrying in the same manner as Trevis had carried the Felis.

"HAHAHA! I SEE YOU ARE ALSO A PERSON OF CULTURE!"

Regan pointed to Cynna. With a 'Look, I got one too' smile.

"YOURS ISN'T BAD, BUT LOOK AT MINE!"

Regan held out Cynna.

"SHE'S LIKE A GRUMPY KITTEN ISN'T SHE? JUST THE BEST! SURE, YOURS HAS APPEAL, BUT MINE'S CUTENESS STATS ARE UNBEATABLE! HAHAHA! WELL THEN, I GUESS I SHOULD GET TO WORK. NICE TALKING TO YOU, CROWNSLEY! BE SURE TO TAKE CARE OF YOURS! HAH!"

Taking flight, Regan began to look for the aforementioned ingredients, but suddenly an unexpected and rather rare emotion hit Regan.

I don't know why, but all of a sudden I'm feeling a bit morose. What is this? This isn't normal. I love battling and attacking things in this world? Is it this shitty swamp? Maybe that's doing something to me... hmm... I don't like this, that's for sure.

After not finding what she was looking for immediately, Regan began to get irritated.

"WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THIS SWAMP?! IS THIS WHAT ADVENTURERS DO? WALK THROUGH SHITTY SWAMPS LOOKING FOR PLANTS ALL DAY? I THOUGHT YOU ALL FOUGHT MONSTERS FOR MONEY OR SOMETHING.

Regan's face looked sullen. The swamp was really getting to her. She wasn't even as mad as usual.

This sucks... I just want to finish this stupid plant thing and go home.

Mopily looking through the swamp, Regan eyed an Amberslime.

"I guess that one will do."

Moving in quickly, Regan procured the slime in one fell swoop. It was a neigh perfect dive and the Amberslime was caught in just about perfect condition.

Sighing, Regan continued flying looking for more specimens.

Ilusa had been startled and surprised when @Celestine came over and touched her forehead, a slightly worried expression on the young face as she checked her temperature.

Ignoring the rather, really odd grammar, she felt touched by the concern from this virtual stranger.

“Thank you for the concern. And I do not know myself for sure. It’s something that Adventure Guild is organising.”

The felis tail started to sway behind her in mild agitation.

She was wet and it stank. It was irritating. She completely missed the appearance of the shadow from above, only noticing it far too late, when it landed, creating a huge splash.

Of course she tried to avoid it.

…Tried being the operative word.

But she was too slow and the wave of green, disgusting thing splashed onto her, sticking to her face, tail, ears, robes. The stench seemed to drill itself into her nose and she nearly gagged. But stronger than the disgust was the anger. As soon as she was sure none of this vile thing would reach her mouth, wild hiss of anger and outrage tore itself from her mouth.

“KHEEEeeee!” Her ears lay flat, her tail stood up straight, the fur was bristled and if looks could kill the adventurer would be dead ten times over – Ilusa was not the only unfortunate soul unable to avoid the gloop and thus angry about it.

For a moment, her hands did act as if trying to wring his neck, before she took a breath to calm down; only to almost retch.

She was wet, sticky and stank.

The anger simmered, simmered, simmered.

“I’m already in this goop. Fine. Fine! Fine!! She collected herself, using manners as a shield against the anger. She raised her chin and strolled with presence as if she was walking in a ballroom, not a swamp. With dignity, she stopped before a plant in a pool of slime and goop; this was the mandragora, surely. Or at least the one of this region.

“Do be kind. Behave.” She intoned staring at it. With a nod, she then bend down and gently, but firmly scooped it out. The plant only shivered but did not even make a peep as the hold was gentle and comfortable for it.

Following along with the others he was ambushed? By the large man that arrived from the sky, stumbling back upon his landing, he moved out of the way probably getting someone behind him splashed that he could've covered. But hey that wasn't his problem, he didn't know them. Directions were given in the most casual manner, with a get shit done you fucks attitude. Easy enough for him, he'd think to himself with a smile. Spotting the familiar faces of @Zelrius and @Kyoko headed towards the swamp, he would follow along, though something caught his eye leading him on a detour away from the rest.

Spotting a straight away along the path that seemed more than just damp from the swamp, as signs of moisture and puddles were visible. Maybe it had rained recently? Or the large man had leap frogged his way around, splashing the surroundings. There was something he had wanted to try and read about online, but had never gotten the chance to. Especially with his augmented sense of balance and skills in game. With a grin and look to see if anyone was watching he'd take a running start before making a small leap to land on the slime-mud mixture, crouching down and mud surfing his way around the swamp.

A loud "Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" could be heard throughout the swamp as he continued to run and slide around looking for the Mandragora's mentioned to be an item of importance. Though the way? That he would be going about pulling them would be a bit unusual. Having spotted and grabbed a fishing rod from the supplies at camp before they left he'd attempt to fish the roots out of the ground. Using the momentum of his sliding the pull a root cleanly from the swamp with a loud 'SLURP' reeling it in. This technically counted as a ranged weapon right? No thought was given to the disturbance he might be causing with the messy trails and noise left behind him. He was just having a blast riding the Joy that engulfed him.

Cynna is always angry. Now, Cynna was gloomy angry. Oh yes, she is positively brooding now.

Cynna was held aloft and studied Caccu (@mina). Cynna then looked down at the swamp. Cynna was no beastkin but her furrowed little brows gave her the impression of one of those flat-faced cats. Those too, always looked grumpy.

Cynna raised her hand at Caccu (@mina), though Cynna was frowning it was clear she wasn't doing anything threatening, in fact... "Aqua Chronos Vitae." Cynna cast a spell in Caccu's direction. It was a healing spell of the water and time elements which essentially functioned like a gentle bath. Regardless of whether her spell made its mark, "Hmph." Cynna quickly lost interest and looked away. She was then carried wherever @Regan was going.

***

Cynna had thought that the Adventurer's League would be less... tedious than this. More glorious. More excitement and splendor. Cynna didn't actually want any of that, but she did often demand the respect that came with it.

Regan had placed her on a rock and seemed to be out of sorts. Yes, the search was trying, and damaging to the ego as well. Where fatigue, an unusual one Cynna noticed, seemed to set in for her partner, Cynna herself only grew more and more frustrated. She was so angry, so hurt by not instantly winning, that there were tears in the corners of her eyes. The mission bothered her, but seeing Regan quiet bothered her even more. The very fact that Cynna wanted to help frustrated her the most of all.

"..."

"Grrrr...."

Regan had found and taken one out. Cynna had originally considered domesticating it because it was cute, but that ended when it spat goop at her in defiance of the peace accord. Now, Cynna had had enough.

"Regan. Come here. In lieu of ineffective orders I am now going to implement some myself."

Cynna took a deep breath and made sure no one was in her line of fire. With both hands raised aloft something awful began to form... this spell was distorting reality... this was Cynna's ANGRY spell. It purposefully overcharged time magic to create tears in space-time.

"DIMENSIONAL REJECTION!!!!!"

Cynna tossed the prismatic orb in the general direction of where the slimes might have been, the effects of the spell, defies description.
