Red Fever (2) - Fear

As Nin declined to answer him, Eve pressed his lips tightly together and turned back towards the rest of the camp. Right, he was just going to have to trust her with... whatever it was that was in there, in addition to the whole lot of everything, everywhere all at once that was being dumped into this cure. Eve found himself a makeshift workstation and began trying to handle the closest ingredient at hand--something vaguely gelatinous? It stung his fingers to touch, so he was very careful as he processed it. Or rather, as he mostly didn't process it, too hesitant to try and do anything drastic with it.

In the end, Eve decided he was getting nothing done and put the slime core away with the others for later use. Which turned out to be very immediate, as the call for testing rang out through the camp. A researched to his left grabbed the slime core and all but hurled it into a bottle before shaking the entire thing vigorously. "You, test subject! Let's go, chop chop!" the researched called, pulling Eve by the arm and dragging him over to a corner.

"Hey!" Too surprised to move, Eve didn't get a chance to react as the researched spritzed him in the face with whatever was in the bottle. For a moment, Eve only felt a mildly cool sensation, oddly pleasant. But it wasn't long before the minty coolness morphed into a stinging, burning sensation in his eyes.

Red Fever (2) - (Anger)

Sylpha was always slow when working with a new ingredient, not to mention the fact that she really, really wanted to taste the Manashroom in front of her. Still, she calmed down once she heard @Tristaria 's voice ringing throughout the place. Being shouted at in the kitchen often wasn't a sign of true anger but a call to hurry the hell up.

So, Sylpha sped up her pace..... Slightly. It was pettiness on her part, and she didn't entirely know why she felt so compelled to get back at someone who was just handling the place as she should. Anger? No, that shouldn't be right, Tristaria didn't do anything to truly rouse Sylpha's anger.

While Sylpha was confused as to what was stirring her emotions, she found that the processing of the Manashrooms at the workbench she assigned herself to was done. Shrugging, she could only hand it off to the others for synthesis.

Red Fever (2) Disgust

By god, this place was filthy. A lab was supposed to be Sterile, and here they were, where they were supposed to create a cure for the disease inside a MUSHROOM. Pollux wasn't usually a stickler for this kind of stuff but it seemed like at this point it was life or death.

Grabbing a broom and dustpan, Pollux put to work removing all of the filth. Of course, time was still of the essence so she took a moment to haste herself with the aid of her chronomancy.

"ACCELERATE"

Pollux began to race around the lab, sweeping up any dust she could find, wiping down any dusty workstations, and knocking down the numerous cobwebs in the corners of the room.

Realizing that she should also assist with the ingredient gathering, Pollux grabbed a few mandragora roots from the box of a familiar large Felis (@Alonso Thorlion) and set to work preparing it the best she could.

Red Fever (2) Anger

Avery stared at her notebook. She’d taken notes while Nin was talking, and now, left to her own devices, the alchemist had no idea where to start. Everyone was frantic amidst the urgency of finding a cure. It felt unsafe in such a large crowd. Maybe Avery was paranoid, but something felt… off. She wasn’t sure if the symptoms she felt were all in her head, or if they were actual means for concern. She didn’t feel particularly unhealthy, which is why she suspected her brain was playing tricks on her. Either way, this cure required research, so she needed to focus.

The alchemist scrutinized the ingredients. She wouldn’t touch the mandragora. She knew from her studies that the root could be poisonous. Failure would surely compromise the quality of the cure. Amberslime would be easy to work with, but Avery wanted a challenge. The trilobite looked like a menace, so Avery gravitated naturally toward it. It was admittedly very intimidating. She didn’t have time to think about this, however, as she reached her gloved hands toward the insect and picked it up. It attempted to bite her as Avery carried it back to her station.

She approached a girl with long, white hair. Avery smiled at her. “Mind if I sit here?” The alchemist introduced herself, and she would learn her newfound companion’s name was @Essence. Avery plopped down and began wrestling with the bug squirming on the table. With every second the insect fought her, she felt herself getting increasingly frustrated. She tried everything to subdue the obnoxious creature, but it kept biting at her and wriggling aggressively. Avery felt her face get hot. It wasn’t helping that everyone was yelling. Her breaths began accelerating, her irritation was growing, and next thing Avery knew…

SLAM!

Panting, Avery felt the insect go still. She looked down and was horrified to discover that she'd smashed its head onto the surface of the table. This method was successful, but disgusting. She was proud that she bested the bug, but the only emotion she could feel was anger. Her breathing was still heavy as she carried the dead insect to its designated spot. Then, before she slumped back to her seat, she allowed the chemicals they made to be sprayed on her skin.

It can’t be worse than this day has already been.

Faction-curious
Red Fever (2) Anger

Nero wasn't expecting to find himself back at the mushroom house after departing with the Adventurers Guild, but he did. Before the split, he had believe that tagging along with the Guild would have given him the opportunity to set out on his own in search of magical rocks, all the while being within the vicinity of people who were capable of combat in case anything went wrong.

He felt somewhat guilty about turning back when it wasn't going his way, but unlike other players, Nero was completely useless outside of the gauntlet's power. If someone were to strip it off of him or were he to, god forbid, lose it, he would become a completely normal person in an otherwise supernatural world.

The brunette rued the fact that he picked up and made a contract with such a ridiculous parasite. The gauntlet was the thing that possessed the masteries his UI listed. He was but a human puppet dancing to the weapon's tune.

When he managed to get back to camp without running into the monkeys ravaging the Lions, he had arrived just in time for Nin to bring up the live human experiment.

Was she for real? The youth thought to himself.

After watching some people volunteer or was volunteered for the trials, he thought that it was benign enough that he volunteered. He wanted to be useful to the group he's intruding on, not knowing that he was trialing for.

With the researchers gleefully shunting him into the corner, Nero received a face-full of gas. He wheezed and coughed, but was fine otherwise.

Once he had recovered from the gassing, he looked up and threw the researchers and anyone else who was watching a thumbs up.

"Confirmed safe!"

Meanwhile, Nero's clothes were slowly disintegrating. He, however, has never felt better. Contribution.

Harukami looked around with an anxious look on her face. She wasn't really sure how to help. She'd followed along thinking she could be useful, but none of her skills would really help her work with the mandragora root, or any other ingredient for that matter. Seeing how hard everyone was working, though, enlightened her ever so slightly. It reminded her of study sessions with the kids in her village.

That was when she knew what to do!

Taking a deep breath, she suddenly yelled at the top of her lungs- a bit like a mandragora would when running away from you.

"Y-You can do it guys!"

Pumping her fist up into the air up and down, she began to chant, over and over. "Do your best! Do your best!" To her, it was the most she could do- give the busy crowd a little morale boost, sing-song, stuttering voice and all. She smiled with a flushed face, ongoing with her support from the heart.

"Do your best! Be careful, and do your best!"

The Brains Behind The Brawn

After several hours of live human trials. The researchers piled together the results of their observation as follows:

Trial Observation Notes

@Tetsunosuke: Burning + Magically Charged
The burning was immediately felt. The moment the mist's moisture touched you, it felt like an acid shower. Sores and boils formed wherever your skin was exposed to the mixture. Your eyes on the other hand felt like someone had rubbed a Carolina Reaper all over it, seeds and all.

Honestly, what did you expect after reading the name of traits? It was as bad a combination as infectious + poisonous, but in the case of that idiot, at least his ignorance became his resistance.

The researchers further more noted that the one or two Trilobites in the room seemed to want to run from this combination
  • The Red Fever condition still remains in your UI with no noticeable changes.
  • Take 50 HP damage.

@Mystia: Poisonous + Curbing
The mist made you cough as it engulfed you. After a few minutes after your body has metabolized the solution, you feel a little lightheaded but nothing notable beyond that.
  • The Red Fever condition still remains in your UI with no noticeable changes.

@Ash Vargold: Soothing + Glowing
The mist feels cool on your fevered flesh. It seems to be moisturizing your skin as you touch the smooth layer soaking in delight, the researchers noted your refreshing glow.
  • The Red Fever condition still remains in your UI with no noticeable changes.
  • You gain a +5 to any checks involving Presence for the rest of this thread. You're sparkling!

@Avery Aphelion and @Haru: Strengthening + Infectious
At first nothing of note happened, the mist was darker than the others but it didn't hurt. The researchers began to put down no effect until you checked your UI... Red Fever (2X).

It was then that you realized you had made a big mistake.
  • The Red Fever still remained in your UI. It was now denoted with an X. Your emotional side-effect will be doubling of whatever stack effect you're at and will remain so for the rest of the event unless a remedy is made.

@Caelia Etterni: Soothing + Strengthening
As the mist clung onto your skin, it felt as though you're covered in velvet. It was a comforting sensation that nearly put you to sleep where you stood... and maybe you did since nothing else happened.
  • The Red Fever condition still remains in your UI with no noticeable changes.

@Eve Lightscar: Burning + Soothing
The mist wafted about you as you waited for the eventual effects. A short moment of burning was followed by a near-instant freezing sensation that shimmered down into a refreshing cool. Indeed this mixture was so hot that it was cool.
  • The Red Fever condition still remains in your UI with no noticeable changes.

@Essence: Strengthening + Magically Charged
You felt a tingling sensation as the mist swept over you. Then you felt it, slowly but surely you could feel magic channeling through your veins. You felt your EN refill and while still sick it certainly was an enjoyable experience.
  • The Red Fever still remained in your UI with no noticeable changes.
  • Gain a +5 Buff for all future actions remaining in this thread.

@Tristaria: Curbing + Glowing
Regardless how RAGING MAD you may have been. Your circuitries cooled down as the gentle glowing mist fell upon you. It was slow to take affects, perhaps because of your artificial skin or due to the mists molecule being bigger. Regardless, while still RAGING MAD, you could feel your anger subside.

The Red Fever condition seemed to blink for a few seconds in your UI, but when it returned it had no noticeable changes. During the blinking, you felt as if your anger was placated.
  • The Red Fever still remained in your UI with no further changes.

@Lucy: Poisonous + Burning
Your body uncontrollably writhed under the stinging pain introduced by the mist as your lips turned a faint green. You felt dehydrated and was immediately dealt a head-splitting migraine that dealt psychological damage. At least it didn't last any longer than 60 seconds after being hit with the foul-smelling mist. You can thank the person who spray you for such a short exposure.
  • The Red Fever still remained in your UI with no noticeable changes.
  • Take 25 HP damage and you gain a -5 to all Fortitude rolls for the remainder of this thread.

@Blank: Infectious + Curbing
As the thick fog enveloped you, you were blinded and began suffocating. Are you going to die? No, it faded much sooner than you thought as you stood there waiting and most likely screaming until the effect shimmered down.
  • The Red Fever still remained in your UI with no noticeable changes.

"Eureka! We have made headway toward an acceptable solution! It's 2847568 seconds late, but such a fraction of time will have to do. A factor of the fever also has been identified."

(She adjusted her collar as she spoke into her device. A large sigh of exhaustion as if she had run a marathon. Indeed a marathon of thinking.)

"We may be experiencing a form of emotional multiplication. How and why is uncertain but the reactions from some of the testers certainly prove the guesstimate. It is time. We must now exert 100% plus all additional. modifiers to accomplish this task. I will focus on preparing my ingredient. I estimate that the rest of you will not miscalculate your values."

(A quick turn away as she changed her focus to the sealed container.)

"Mistakes will not be tolerated. Let us delete this plague.

Excelsior plus, plus, plus... . Now go."

(Synthesis Progress)

The lab is slowly going from one of random annoyances to utter chaos as things went from bad to worse. With it no longer being the most suitable workplace with several people having to be tied down or otherwise sedated... Elynn is now in a cage drooling out of her mouth with her eyes glazed over. A single researcher laying unconscious by the cage with a knife. A horrifying sign of what could happen if the development of the Serenity Mist was not completed soon.

Everyone had always thought that the MIT was safe, but they are often on the forefront, tackling the danger of the game in a different way. Regardless, it's not heroism if everyone is dead. MIT members and potential members will have to put their heads together for this one. Fight the fever and complete the project to fight the fever's dangerous effects.

Nin luckily seems to be experiencing the effects a little bit slower than most for some reason. It is still only a matter of time, however... While the group was in a hurry, she headed to a corner to work on something on her own.

This is the end...

Finish this and prove...

Assignment

There is no longer a division of roles in within the MIT research group. All that time you spent working with such a dangerous condition has taken a toll on everyone.

Given that the first round of ingredients had all been divided into smaller mixtures for the purpose of testing. All of what remained of those has been dumped outside.

It's time to start from scratch. A blank slate if you will.

Taking into consideration the urgency of the matter, it is now all hands on deck, everyone is expected to work together put ingredients into the concoction. Researchers need to discourse about which ingredient is beneficial to put in while fixers and the council members need to be there to help keep things under control and follow the researcher's instructions on what to do.

Meta Goal

You have learned how each trait interacts with one another. Use this information to make your best guess on the hidden formula.

Negative traits may be a hindrance, but you can override it with other traits.

Keep the current contribution score (1503) and continue increasing it each time you roll.

At the end of the 6th cycle, the group's final formula will be given a score, which will have a positive or negative effect on the final contribution tally, which will determine the quality of the group project.

Good luck and have fun, scholars!

Using Ingredients

Whether or not your character is working directly with the lab ingredients below, their contribution will lead to an ingredient being added narratively.

After you pick an ingredient, compare your roll to the DC. If your roll result is under that number, you add the ingredient's failure trait to your post. If equal or higher than the DC, you add the ingredient's success trait to your post.

Before you roll, you MUST add an ingredient name at the END of your rollcode.

Example: ?r expertise 0 5 # Knack | Name | 550C4B | Manashroom

Amberslime Core

A mysterious substance that burns the skin if touched. It has the consistency to form a soothing mixture however many experts have difficulty accomplishing this.

DC 30.
  • Equal & Over = Burning
  • Under = Soothing

Manashroom

Mushrooms that are infused with mana. They may glow when in a natural state but, they can also be used to unleash a great deal of magical energy if handled correctly.

DC 80.
  • Equal & Over = Magically-charged
  • Under = Glowing

Mandragora Root

The roots of a freshly plucked Mandragora. Thankfully no longer wailing. These are highly poisonous to humans and most animals. It's said that certain chemicals in this root can increase the effects of other traits Yet, if the poison were to be controlled in some way... perhaps it would help against your enemy.

DC 60.
  • Equal & Over = Strengthening
  • Under = Poisonous

Verdant Trilobite

A still living insect possibly infected with Red Fever. Can it be used to find a cure? This ingredient is being brought in alive! You'll have to use some muscle to work with this one. It might release damaging fumes or bite you.

DC 70.
  • Equal & Over = Curbing
  • Under = Infectious
  • Take 10 retaliation damage

Nin's Secret Ingredient

Details unknown. Kept in a sealed container. Do not allow this ingredient to be lost or misused. This ingredient is not added by the player.

SADNESS (x4)

That simmering anger continued to rumble under the surface of Caelia's being. As she was shouted at by @Tristaria , she glared back, thinking about spitting some words back when someone beat her to it. She listened as @Essence started to go at it with the Magia, moving away from their little cluster to try and find somewhere else she was helpful instead. She listens as everyone continues yelling and shouting at one another, her mood only worsening for no apparent reason.

As Nin shouted out that they needed test subjects, she figured it might as well volunteer. She stepped up when it was her turn, having removed her coat and armor and some of her other pieces of clothing to expose more of her skin. The mist tickled ever so slightly, softly settling over her body. She felt tired all of a sudden, her eyes maybe drooping just a bit before she snapped back to full awareness.

She opened her UI to check her statuses, noticing the Red Fever had ticked up again.

Great... Sadness suddenly overwhelmed her. Why hadn't it worked? Had she done something wrong? Sniffling a little, she mumbled her apologies to Nin and the researchers before moving away quickly. Well, time to work more with these stupid ingredients.

Caelia found herself standing near @Nero after that, having been jostled around a little bit by others in the room until ending up at that point. She shouldered her coat back on, reaching out to work with the Amberslime Core that was on the table before her.

She must have done something wrong, because almost instantly, it started to burn her unprotected skin on her hands. Caelia yelped and nearly dropped the core on the floor. She set it down on the table, her eyes now watering further with tears. "Useless, useless, you're not going to help anyone like this...!"

Haru toiled past his feverish limits in the new and orderly laboratory that was made in the wake of his snapping, the aid of others and the direction of the Excelsior-touting girl. Once more, he tested for viral cures and worked on the Trilobite station of the Laboratory. He kept feeling more and more tired, yet a well of determination and the urging words of Oberon in his mind kept him moving forward. He had to do this-lives were depending on it.

Things started going wrong when he placed the ingredients into the pot. A pain struck him-a slow, creeping one, yet one that lashed out the instant that he noticed it. A terror struck his heart cleanly through the center, breaking his will in two.

Haru's legs gave out-he fell onto the mixing pot. The limbs that had once grown from the floor now fell limp, the chains of light that surrounded @Tristaria dissipated and his bright presence grew dim as the sound of ringing steel and clattering wood and spilling liquid overtook the sound of dilligent work within the laboratory. Some of the unfinished, scalding mixture spilled over Haru's frame as he collapsed onto the floor. Tears and alchemy dripped from his body and soaked into the wood like a terrible brine.

Haru wasn't moving.

Critical Failure
1
Darkness.

Only a void without even the faintest of light to be found. Your breathing is nonexistent. Your very self... were you even there? If you think therefor you are, yet now you cannot.. then are you anything at all?

How does it feel?

A voice? No more like a thought, or perhaps a feeling. You or whatever you might mean was unable to think yet here were thoughts forming words in your mind. Yet they certainly were not yours.

You feel nothing?

Indeed you were nothing.

Feeling is such a primitive yet philosophical concept for them. . Even these how would say... words? To need such things, It is intriguing is it not? Such a misfortune that you are but mere sustenance. A dish served still struggling for a generously offered gas you call... oxygen, is it?

What like hours, then days, then years of blackness finally ends with more thoughts.

Salvation is unreachable for them. The meaningless struggles of ego continue...

Thump, thump, thump...

Suddenly you hear it. The sound of a heart, perhaps yours? Are you thinking this? Are you finding who you are?

Accept... come... home...end these needs and become a worthy...piece...to the constantly revolving... of existence...

Both of you... come.... home...

A pain... then waves of sadness washing over you. More than a wave... you felt like you were speedrunning generations of lives going through countless tragedies all in rapid succession. This was the human experience. This is what being something like you meant.

A flash of light... your eyes open.

You are in the lab. Covered in chemicals. You are in quite a lot of pain frankly.
Also, you wish you had died, the sadness is unbearable.

Red Fever modifier increases by 2x.

It's not going to be enough.

The thought whirls around and around in his mind, nearly paralyzing him. There had been that brief reprieve when they sprayed whatever concoction they had contrived on him.It had been a pleasant coolness, but he'd been one of the lucky ones - there'd been quite a lot of screaming around the lab from other unlucky subjects.

Now he can't even log out. The fever burns through his system and his health ticks downwards, little by little. His heart beats a horrifying staccato. There is definitely something squirming under there, and god forbid someone see that, or be seen by that. He just wants to curl up in a corner, scream out his lungs and let someone else do all this, but... but what if they can't? He's the one death, but how many players here have died twice, here? What if this becomes the next Titanius, and this time there won't even be a story, because the blasted algorithm will scrub it from the web?

What if, what if, what if...

There's the sound of a collapse and screaming. He turns his head and sees someone lying on the ground next to a rapidly draining cauldron. Sheer instinct breaks past the miasma of terror as he barrels past a few scientists, perhaps causing some ingredients to fall into pots before they should. That doesn't matter though. What matters is that someone could be dying right now.

He grabs @Haru and picks him up - he's not specced for healing, but there's a place they've been dragging the scientists too sick or overwhelmed by fever to help. It's rough going, but the man is light, almost like he's not there, and...

and...

...this man smells like a dead thing. He hadn't noticed on account of how much death lingers in this place, but this close it's unmistakable. This close, he notices that there's something horribly wrong about this man, and it takes every instinct not to simply drop him and flee. "What the hell are you?"

Red Fever (2) Sadness

Kaede was done with it all, why keep hiding it, it only made her suffer more as she got back up to take something else to work on. Gloved hand taking up the root before she simply stood there and let out every bit of dark and corrupt magic she could muster into a single pulse directed at the root without care or worry. Existence in hiding was to painful and filled with regrets, so least she could die knowing she chose to reveal herself rather then it be found out and try to hide it.

Taboo magic user she was, caring much she was not in this few seconds as she shot another pulse of magic into the roots trying to hex and alter it's very existence into the opposite. Why strengthen when you could weaken the effect of the fever? It was the same idea she had for the slime effect. If you had a fever you burned up, so why not find something or someway to cool down? The fact nothing they had made sense to use in the general term of a fever was making Kaede more mad then anything else.

"Have none of you ever got a fever before? Honestly these 'remedy items' are all things you don't want to be dealing with to cure a fever. You need to cool down the body, you need to relax and slow the body down so it can recover, everything here is the opposite. Then account this fever fucks with emotions it seems as none of us can keep a level head? You need a calming agent or something. For scientist you all don't have a lick of common sense."

With her words spoken she would drop the root into the pile of other worked on things before walking out of the lab to get some fresh air. She was so tired of being the only doctor in the room and dealing with everything going on in her head with more emotional turmoil then the others because of her race. Grumbling as she sat outside in the rain and was kept company by Totetsu who was not allowed inside. She wanted this whole thing to be over with already.

Red Fever (3) - Disgust (x4)

The camp appeared to kick into overdrive with Nin's latest announcement. Eve, after taking a moment to try and wipe off the remnants of the potion with the cleanest cloth he could find--which was still not clean enough though, ugh--also turned his attention back towards the workstations.

Working with the amberslime cores seemed like the safest bet, given that he'd tested them out before. However, the moment his hands sunk into the gelatinous mix, he couldn't hide his shiver at the horrifically viscous texture of the slowly-heating mixture he was working with. Eager to get things over and done with, Eve tossed the amberslime core in with the rest of the processed ingredients after only the most half-hearted of preparations.

A sniffle from the tables nearby caught his attention, and he looked up to see a white-haired faerin in tears. His first thought was to reach out to @Caelia Etterni to give her a pat on the shoulder, but the slime-and-who-knows-what stains on his palms had him stop just before making contact. Ugh, he was filthy.

"Hey," he said, "Are you doing all right? Do you need to take a break?"

Tetsunosuke managed to remain calm as he was being sprayed with that caustic solution, as a typical military man would when faced with corporal punishment. Although his eyes were welling up tears, he continued to manage to keep them open as the experiment was going on. It had to be him doing this task where no one would dare to touch because of its implied dire consequences, because he knew he had both the physical and mental fortitude to tide through it. The experiment continued with relative quietness until it was completed.

But as he had moved away from the experimentation area, he was struggling to walk due to extreme pain, and then after a while, his legs gave way, and he stumbled on all fours, screaming and crying in pain and sadness as he tried to crawl towards his station. Although he had accepted every incoming consequences of the experiments, he was saddened by the apparent futility of the one assigned to him. He felt that he just had himself blinded and hurt for nothing. He knew that he should have not felt that way, but he could not help his emotions welling up.

As the tears welled up on his face, it had washed some of the burning sensation off, and, as he felt his eyes starting to see again, he then saw a familiar plant on the ground. Realizing that it was a mandragora root, he then thought that it was misplaced, and so he picked it up and then crawled towards the materials custodian to hand it over, before he headed back to his station, got himself a cold shower and an eyewash from his magitech water bottle, before starting on his work again, not bothering to wear his shirt until the pain from the mist had subsided.

Everything was okay. They did the research. Different combinations were tested. And the best part was monsters were held back well enough.

Actually hell no everything was far from okay!

He shook his hand as one of the Trilobites bit him a few times over, dropping onto the table as his fist made several attempts to slam into the bug. "SHIT. SHIT. SHIT! C-Come on, just get in the box, please just die and get in the box," Alonso said. The others trying to escape where also taking nibbles at his arm, and in a panic he began to smash them recklessly. And the table. Especially the table. This continued for several minutes as a cold sweat ran down the Felis's temples.

"I am COMPLETELY relaxed. Th-There is nothing wrong," he snapped at @Kaede Hoshi , the terror wrought upon his visage. His heart was going rapid pace, the man bringing over the Trilobites in a box he made quick, and sloppy, work of. The box was promptly set on a table for use in the remedy. Alonso's shoulders were hunched, eyes wide as he looked around on extreme alert.

As the sage @Haru crumbled to the floor, so too did Corsair's anger. It was like her mind was a lab counter, suddenly swept clean of expensive electronics and leaving only the furious, rested red stains of past experiences on the surface beneath.

She growled, a synthesized sound low in her throat. "We're not failing here," she said harshly, looking away from the sage while others dealt with him. She whistled, drawing Sam and Fujitsu to her side.

Something is happening with my emotions. Like viruses in this mechanical body they're running unwanted processes. Corsair reached out for Sam and pulled the pond spirit into herself, instantly calming. She could feel the anger now. Distant, oppressive, like a burning blanket laid over her body. Absentmindedly she checked her body's stats. The temperature was way up, spiking by almost ten degrees. Need to move fast. Fast!

Corsair checked the results from the first set of trials. One result stood out. @Tristaria's Curbing + Glowing. We need more of that.

Corsair picked up one of the Trilobites from the tank, and reefed the soul from its body, stuffing it into the empty body of Sam the frog. Immediately the construct started looking around with wide, misplaced eyes. It stumbled, trying to walk on legs long since evolved into something more concerned with jumping and climbing than scuttling.

Free of the burned of its soul, Corsair crushed the creature in one hand, siphoning and diluting the paste into a usable solution.

Ayna watched @Tetsunosuke as he grabbed some Mandragora Root and did the same. She was just watching others now, just doing what they were doing, except trying her best to make it seem that she was not using her sleight of hand. Things were going much better this time around. That was until she decided to take a sniff of her concoction and suddenly felt nauseated as if she was about to throw up. She was, actually, about to, but still, she managed to stop herself. The last thing she wanted was to add an extra formula to the concoction, her Chemical X.

It wasn't an easy task, however, keeping herself from dousing her stuff with her own vomit. Each time she tried to stop gagging, her reflex would do it again. And again. And again. Until she just put a hand on her mouth and carried on. Sure, it wouldn't really stop anything if she failed to hold it all in, but at least she'd be forewarned. Would be much easier to turn her head away from her table and dispose of her contents elsewhere, far from her stuff.

Red Fever (3) Anger Amplified x4

Ridiculous. Now they wanted them to be guinea pigs.
What good are the other guilds if they didn't use them for their experiments?
Megan could feel the anger boiling in her as the thought about it, but knew that getting frustrated wouldn't help. If they wanted her to test it, she'd test it, after all, she's the prominent mage here, if she didn't at this point the others probably wouldn't either.

Stripping down to her underclothing she had one of the sprays selected for administration used on her. She went out of her way to select one with the 'curbing' effect, surely that was the key here, but as it was applied it turned into a thick fog that quickly surrounded her. Blind she fumbled to exit the fog, but it seemed to follow her as she fled quickly entering her lungs and blocking off her airflow. She tried to scream, and yell and beg for help but nothing came out except gags and gasps for air.

Just about when she thought she was going to pass out the effect abated leaving her gasping on the ground. She laid there for some time and let the anger inside of her consume her. What an abject failure this was. It taught them, that wasn't the correct combination but still. It was the last time she'd be used as a lab rat!

Standing the began to put on her robes as she heard @Kaede Hoshi going off at the management. She seemed familiar, in a foggy kind of way, much like that @Seigi Ling Ling girl, but significantly less pronounced. Still she couldn't disagree with Kaede's logic. Of course, cooling down was the solution to this if they'd only see it!

"I agree! We shouldn't be butting burning slimes and ridiculous mushrooms into the concoction when I could just freeze it out of all of us! Watch as I show what my magic can do on this ugly bug thing!"

Without waiting to see if anyone agreed, Megan blasted the Trilobite with her permafrost spell, freezing it in place, and applying the curbing attribute to it much to Megan's satisfaction.

"See? Through ice magic, all problems can be solved!"

After speaking with Triss, Creature had made his way back inside. Only to be greeted by a horrific scene. Everyone was losing their minds it seemed, and the heat wasn't making things much better. He felt ready to collapse. But there was still work to be done and failing ensured the deaths of everyone at the camp.

Being sent once again to grab one of the trilobites, Creature stumbled through the lab looking for where the bugs were being kept. But to his dismay someone had accidentally knocked over the tank, setting some of them free. Creature's eyes shifted to red as his hyper sense took over. Frantically, his gaze darted around before finding his target. Scooping it up, and ignoring its bites, he brought it to one of the researchers with enough sense to keep working.

Using hyper sense was a bad idea though. The disgust he felt from being in here was only amplified through heightened senses. What strength that remained was being used to choke back bile. But it was not enough. In his feverish state he'd fail to notice @Essence was not a trash can as he puked on her; barf now coating her otherwise nice outfit.
