The Brains Behind The Brawn

A large mushroom, easily the size of a 3 story house and with enough width to hold two in its stipe. Instead of making a personalized Super Mario dream home. The MIT had settled for something far more efficient:

A lab.

"This is... Oh mah gawd,, so sus! I Look at this, it spins! This must be a miniature of what Ultra Man X uses to defeat Alligator King... it's incredible! "

A young elven girl thrust the handheld drilling machine into a slightly taller green haired young woman's face. Almost breaking the later's glasses in the process.

"Y-Yes that is indeed a primary tool for our problem. Elynn, let the people that you stole that from please have it back. The odds of it causing a unpredictable injury are 72.4% and that's higher than an acceptable average."

After waiting for someone. anyone, to take away the drill from Elynn. The green-haired scientist raised a small round device to her mouth. Immediately her voice now echoed throughout the large carved-out lab within the shroom. The many men and women in lab coats and their Fixer bodyguards would in near unison turn to listen to her. After all, the MIT was the most organized and mentally acute group in all the land. The known ones anyway, and it was their job to keep that reputation.

"Excelsior! Everyone, thank you for adding together and coming. I am Nin and have been placed in charge of development on this assignment. Many bright minds are here in number today. No matter the threat of subtraction, we will reach the sum,"

(A quick glance at Elynn to NOT say Nin Nin.)

"We, unfortunately, do not have time to do things thoroughly to find the sum. So we will use hastily researched modifiers and follow an adjusting model as data is accumulated! I will try to make everything work with the power of mathematics and theoretical biology. We need to take these ingredients..."

(A nearby researcher removed the white covering to reveal a long table with several already collected items.)

"..and the many more being collected by the Adventurer's Guild and make a remedy for the Red Fever multiplying throughout the jungle. They say that these plagues from other lands are incurable, mathematically impossible. Ha! I call malarkey on that equation! I will use this as a stepping stone to ending the scourges of Zalrisis, Hemomorphis, and Dissonance. Anything can be accomplished with the right combination of factors divided into proper fractions and a good head on your shoulders.

4573 multiplied by 32 always equals 146336!

Ahem..."

"...Let's begin the synthesis."

(Synthesis Progress)

Nin has begun drawing various diagrams and is speaking fast, using words and lingo that one without much knowledge would be hard pressed to understand. Regardless everyone takes to their respective tasks and the development of the remedy commences.

The formula drawn up on the board is a mathematical mess, but among the numerical scribbles is a doodle diagram of a spraying device with some notes about how it can affect a bunch of people in a wide open area. Nin labeled the entire thing the Serenity Mist. Although you have a recipe to go off of, how the concoction will end up and how effective it is will depend entirely on you!

Time is ticking and you only have so long to develop the Serenity Mist based on Nin's recipe. Should your group be unable to complete the recipe in time, the makeshift lab may very well be overrun by crazed monsters.

What will the final result look like?
When faced with this unknown threat...
Will it even be enough...?

Using Ingredients

Whether or not your character is working directly with the lab ingredients below, their contribution will lead to an ingredient being added narratively.

After you pick an ingredient, compare your roll to the DC. If your roll result is under that number, you add the ingredient's failure trait to your post. If equal or higher than the DC, you add the ingredient's success trait to your post.

Before you roll, you MUST add an ingredient name at the END of your rollcode.

Example: ?r expertise 0 5 # Knack | Name | 550C4B | Manashroom

Amberslime Core

A mysterious substance that burns the skin if touched. It has the consistency to form a soothing mixture however many experts have difficulty accomplishing this.

DC 30.
  • Success = Burning
  • Failure = Soothing

Manashroom

Mushrooms that are infused with mana. They may glow when in a natural state but, they can also be used to unleash a great deal of magical energy if handled correctly.

DC 80.
  • Success = Magically-charged
  • Below = Glowing

Mandragora Root

The roots of a freshly plucked Mandragora. Thankfully no longer wailing. These are highly poisonous to humans and most animals. It's said that certain chemicals in this root can increase the effects of other traits Yet, if the poison were to be controlled in some way... perhaps it would help against your enemy.

DC 60.
  • Success = Strengthening
  • Failure = Poisonous

Verdant Trilobite

A still living insect possibly infected with Red Fever. Can it be used to find a cure? This ingredient is being brought in alive! You'll have to use some muscle to work with this one. It might release damaging fumes or bite you.

DC 70.
  • Success = Curbing
  • Failure = Infectious
  • Take 10 retaliation damage

Nin's Secret Ingredient

Details unknown. Kept in a sealed container. Do not allow this ingredient to be lost or misused. This ingredient is not added by the player.

Red Fever (2) (ANGER)

Despite the rain from outside and the relatively crowded laboratory, Caelia felt warm. She pulled at the collar of her coat, opening up her UI to check the Red Fever status that she'd gotten after coming to this area. When she hovered over it for details, all she got was, well, nothing useful. Great. She felt a simmering anger, moreso than she might have on any other occasion, but she didn't immediately clock the strangeness of how emotional she felt.

Caelia was just an emotional person sometimes.

She looked around the space, recognizing @Kaede Hoshi and @Essence among the various Travelers and Landers alike in the area. She waved to both as she moved through the laboratory. She hovers near Nin and some others for a few moments, but decides that, well, this is just too over her head for her to be doing any mixing of her own.

"Hey! Keep that path from the door clear, we need to make sure the Guild can drop off their stuff," she shouts as some folks crowd the open path from the door to where Nin and the others were working with the materials. That anger still simmered like a pot about to boil, but it wasn't boiling quite yet. She was just getting irritated a lot faster than normal.

Caelia hovered near the front door and the windows, absently playing with the dagger she normally had sheathed on her thigh. "Hopefully we get this done quickly," she muses, mostly to herself. Her foot tapped on the ground in an impatient manner, and she kept switching her vantage point to watch other researchers or keep a lookout on the outside.

She seemed antsy, to say the least.

Red Fever (2) Fear

Kaede had not felt this on edge since she took a trip to that church while drunk off her ass all to try and get into bed with one of the priestess afterward, fear... Her entire being was on a hair trigger of tense as she skidded around the edges avoiding contact with everything and everyone. She did not make eye contact, did not speak, only gave a small wave back to @Caelia Etterni before returning to the smallest stature she could manage. One slip up and she was likely toast and she was terrified.

It was one thing she was partly a doctor so messing up would make her look bad, another she used a lot of taboo magic in her work and if someone saw that, trouble. She also wanted to try not and make a fool of herself in front of so many smart women who would never forget such a thing. Everything was just not going her way as she would pick a Manashroom from the table and go find a little hiding hole to do her own work in.

Holding the shroom in both hands as they trembled and she tried to focus on something other then her magic only to have her fear of it sparking out of her control crippling her work. Grumbling as she sat down cross legged in her spot and just slowly, ever so slowly used her chronomancy magic to infuse the manashroom to charge it. Sure it was not her strongest magic but those had all been Taboo and that was a noo-goo at the current time.

Once she felt the shroom was charged enough to the best of her knowledge and looking around at others that might have been doing the same thing she would slowly make her way back to set it down to be added into the mix before returning to her corner and just hiding from everyone as she balled up and hoped people would not notice her if she did such. She wanted to disappear and get away from all these people before she had a panic attack.

Red Fever (2) Fear

Although Ayna had started this expedition as a boundless ball of erratic energy, she was now feeling a little less loud and a little more insecure. Breaking free from her closest friends in the game and drawn to the MIT on her own, her once confident stride had crumbled into a cowering hunch, not the intuitive guess but the bodily position. As Ayna joined the others, she still spent a moment or two looking back to where her friends were, unsure if this was where she belonged. These people were the smartest, probably, and even though Ayna was a well-established engineer in the real world, she was definitely a dumb-dumb in the game. She hasn't even figured out what bloodstones were, and she's been at them for days, maybe weeks.

Quietly, she listened to MIT's top scientists discuss and share their findings with the rest. They were all imposing, and some of even them even spouting numbers and percentages and big words that all sounded like complete gibberish to Ayna's much smaller brain. But still, she persisted, held on as best as she could, despite the primitive urge to just run away, back to her friends, slink out of there and protect herself from whatever. Fear capitalized on the unknown. Ayna's delighted in shrouding her thoughts, disrupting them from actually forming together into coherence and understanding.

Ayna froze as everyone else began taking to their work, confusing her even more. She stole glances at @Caelia Etterni and @Kaede Hoshi, not unlike a student trying to cheat off their seatmates, but would immediately look away in fear should they meet her gaze. They were already very intimidating to her at this point. Getting called out would be the worst.

So she scrambled to get to work herself. Blindly. Grabbing this and that, she set out to help with the remedy for the so-called Red Fever. Hopefully, she wouldn't make such a big mess. Gulp.

Red Fever (2) - (Fear)

Lucia's brow twitched. Something was wrong, no, it felt wrong at least. She was naturally filled with anxiety every time there was a big event involving her where she couldn't bring her supporters, but this was clearly different. She was a dark mage, as well as a necromancer, Disease and Illness was something she was very familiar with, she used it to fight once upon a time after all. Coupled with her own mastery of her own physiology she felt something 'wrong'. While it weighed on her, she also couldn't help exhaling her frustrations, no matter how things worked out, it wouldn't be good for her nerves.

@Caelia Etterni seemed particularly on edge, she tried to soothe the woman with a gentle hand on the shoulder in hopes it might calm her down a little. "It'll be alright. We'll figure something out soon." She tried to reassure with a nod. Looking over the materials though, Lucia settled on Mandragora. It would become poisonous if mishandled, she hoped to at least make the end product less dangerous. Despite that though she wore a bitter expression. "Why work with these questionable ingredients without testing? Wouldn't it just be better to isolate the cure?" She couldn't help posing the question, but whether or not anyone was listening or even cared she didn't know. With a sigh, she'd go along with the guild's song and dance at least, if they wanted to experiment with some super soldier serum/cure combination as long as she was free to retreat at her leisure she'd do her job.

Red Fever (2) - (Disgusted)

"N-No! Give it to me I'll never have another chance!"

Alonso growled as he pulled away a heavier box of the Mandragora Roots. The man kept turning around, attempting to elbow the more excitable, younger scientist away from him. "Damnit I said knock it off! We don't have time to screw around with these," the Felis shouted back. Thankfully, as quite a few of MIT were skinny nerds it was easy to shove, but they were persistent bastards. Dipping between a few other people, he managed to escape his assaulter with some fancier footwork contrasting his wide frame. But it seemed he was not out of the stubborn experimenter's grasp yet.

It did not help these roots smelled gross. Sure, he did not have some super enhanced sense of smell, but a strong odor was just that. He shook his head, and as he did a bump from behind nearly tripped him and the man braced himself to stay standing all the while keeping the box steady in his hands. Though, he had to bounced it between his arms to keep it there, which caused some of the roots to fall out.

And the stubborn scientist was given a chance to swipe some of the roots.

"God fuckin' damnit! Can we not do this? These are sickening, why did I agree to do this," Alonso said. He crouched down, holding his breath while picking up some of the fallen roots. These will be fine right off the floor and not tainted, right? Right. Maybe.

Red Fever (2) Sadness

Corsair was a professional. She'd spent the last decade in a lab, and even if her specialty was in biomechanics what were plants and fungi that just more bio than mechanic? She picked the most intimidating sample from the jars provided: <Manashroom>

The name gave little away. Did it grow near mana? Generate it? Require it to reproduce? Corsair positioned herself to watch @Kaede Hoshi work with her own sample. She's feeding it magic. Alright, this should be easy them.

Corsair took out Sam, placed him in her braceleted hand, holding the sample with her gloves other hand. "Hold still," she instructed the mechanical frog. "I'm going to try and fuse some of your spiritual energy into the sample."

Her bracelet crackled and spat, and Sam sat completely still as Corsair pulled a sliver of the fading pond spirit out of its amphibian shell and pushed it inside the fungus. Immediately the room took on a virulent, sickly-green glow, and while bioluminescence was always a pleasant sight, something told Corsair that this was not the result she had wanted.

She looked over to the other woman. Her sample wasn't glowing. And her inspection module told her that it was infused with a deep magic.

A beaker of emotion uncorked inside Corsair, and she all but dropped the sample (and Sam). I failed. The words echoed in her head, stacking up like bad peer reviews. Unacceptable. Poor use of funds and time. Inconclusive. Flawed methodology. Deeply unethical. How often had people tried to pull her down just because her work hadn't produced results on the first try.

Corsair steeled herself and held her head up high, ready to try again.

Red Fever (2) Anger

Lucy had kept close with @Haru the both of them joining the MIT group together where Lucy now stood trying to figure out what Nin was saying. "I don't understand any of this, but looking at the doodles. We just gotta add stuff to the mixture and hope for the best." Anger... Lucy smiled at her companion. "Gotta get to work!" She briskly turned from Haru shaking her head violently to get the thoughts out of her head. Why did she want to explode out of nowhere?

Lucy would follow Haru up until he began to work on his own little thing. Lucy focused on the workstation, grabbing her own resources as everyone else was doing. She placed everything down carefully, looking over the Trilobite. Lucy would knowingly be hurting the insect she was working on which left her with a feeling of dread.

Everyone else was working around her with ease, unbothered by fiddling with living insects. Lucy looked down at the insect with remorse.

Shoving away her discomfort, Lucy got to work. She exerted a lot of energy trying to get the insect to work with her, but she just wasn't strong enough. She hadn't finished her work before it bit her. Lucy let out a soft yelp, "Ouch..." She carefully laced her fingers around it, pulling it away from her skin.

Finishing her part, Lucy placed it on a tray on the side. Hatred... Everything inside of her was screaming, her body filling with rage. Lucy once again shoved down her emotions, struggling.

It was like there was a little devil on her shoulder telling her to get mad at everyone and everything. Lucy felt her skin start to burn up even more, she leaned against the counter to try and catch her breath. All of the anger she felt was throwing her body in for a loop, she wasn't use to these kinds of feelings. Anyone that knew her or had been around her would know something was wrong.

Lucy turned to her companion, "Haru." She would reach out to grab onto his arm for support but would stop half-way. Whether or not he assisted her, Lucy would feel the room spin. The bite from the insect causing her finger to heat up. Feeling her heartbeat laced with thumping pain in her finger, Lucy could only say so much. "I feel like i'm going to be sick..... My emotions are all angry and I feel like i'm heating up..."

MIT Member - Freshman Researcher
Red Fever (2) Fear

As he entered the large mushroom house that seemed to be turned into a laboratory, Tetsunosuke really felt excited as it was the first time that he would do some serious work for the MIT. And he would not be doing this alone again this time, as he then saw his fellow magitech enthusiast @Tristaria among those who will be working here. But among all of this excitement, a great amount of dread then flowed into him. He was rarely this fearful, but as he then checked his UI again and the Red Fever status increased by one, a deeper sense of dread started to manifest again. He then really thought that they should be rid of this status as soon as possible as he then took the small kiln and his set of tools and started to work on something that will help this group devise a cure for this status.

Although this amount of dread became increasingly manifested in his working to create an automated centrifuge for the research group, maybe this was for the best as he then mostly stuck to his job and met really tight tolerances due to his fear of this one failing and causing a massive explosion. But then, yet another dread came to him as he then felt something crawling on his lower left leg that, fortunately, was covered with knee-length socks. He then fearfully looked down, as he then saw the creature, which he knew as a verdant trilobite, casually crawling up towards his upper leg, and, as it crawled, its pointed appendages were actually piercing his skin, causing unimaginable pain. Unable to endure the stinging pain, he then quickly grabbed the trilobite, tossed it into his toolbox, and then moved towards the custodian to help him store the trilobite into where it should be stored, before finishing the centrifuge and presenting it to the researchers, teaching them how to use it.

Red Fever (2) / Anger

Still outside of the mushroom building, Mystia didn't quite expect to be approached by anyone. Yet, here she was, having another tech enthusiast looking over her mechanical creation and complimenting it! (@Tristaria) It made the fae positively glow as she grinned and struck a position with her hands firmly resting at her hips. The mech seemed to take well to this as well, waving its hand and finally speaking on its own. Its voice was, well... impossibly manly, yet still mechanical in nature.

HI.

Things were cut a bit short, however. The rest phase was over, and things had to start moving once more. Heading back inside, Mystia would keep her weaponized friend outside for the time being. It was just a bit too large to fit inside anyway. The rain wasn't a bother for it, either. After the speech by someone, Mystia could only assume to be a higher-ranked member of MIT, she figured this would be the best chance to impress them and have them accept her as an official member.

She took her time at the table, selecting an ingredient that not many others seemed to use at the moment. But before she could even begin, she noticed another beautiful fae who seemed like she was having some trouble with the whole thing. Approaching @Lucy, Mystia would offer a slightly mischievous smile.

Heya~! You don't look so good, are you okay? Did you inhale something you shouldn't have? I can offer my lap if you need a quick rest. Oh, or if your experiment didn't work out, you can go outside and punch my mech a few times to vent your frustration~!

I TAKE OFFENSE TO THIS. MECH ABUSE SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED BY THE SOCIETY.

The hulking machine beast was looking through the door, tiny compared to it. It merely caused the silver-haired fae to chuckle. Regardless of what she could or could not do to help Lucy, she had her own little experiment to do on the side. The only issue was that she had no idea if what she did was correct or not... was the result supposed to be glowing?

Out of nowhere, Tris stormed forward, ripping the drilling machine out of her hands.

GIVE ME THAT BEFORE YOU SMASH SOMETHING IMPORTANT, YOU INCOMPETENT POSER!!

Rather than return the drill, however, she seemed more content to point it menacingly toward others and command them like a drill sergeant

@Caelia Etterni
OH!?

(Tristaria grasps the drilling machine and smashes a giant hole in the building beside the door.)

IS THAT OPEN ENOUGH FOR YOU!? GET BACK TO WORK INSTEAD OF WORRYING ABOUT THE DOORWAY!!

@Kaede Hoshi
YOU!! GET UP OFF THE FLOOR AND WORK WITH CONFIDENCE BEFORE I FORCE IT INTO YOU!!

@Ayna Nietzsche
FOXY!! THIS ISN’T A PLACE FOR PASSIVE OBSERVERS! EITHER JOIN THE CONVERSATION OR SMASH SOME INGREDIENTS TOGETHER!!

@Lucia Mierz
GOTH LADY!! LESS QUESTIONING THE SCIENTIFIC PROCESS AND MORE TESTING!! GET TO IT!!

@Alonso Thorlion

@Corsair
ROBOT!! THIS ISN’T HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY!! IF YOU HAVE TIME TO MOPE, YOU HAVE TIME TO EXPERIMENT!! MOVE IT!!

@Lucy
CRY ME A RIVER, SNOWFLAKE!!

(Tristaria summons a drone which injects Lucy with something that numbs the pain slightly.)

NOW IF YOU’RE NOT GONNA BE USEFUL, THEN GET OUT!!

@Tetsunosuke
HEY HALFPINT! HANDLE THAT THING MORE CAREFULLY BEFORE IT ESCAPES!

@Mystia
GREAT IDEA, TINY!! LET’S ALL CUDDLE UP AND HAVE A SNUGGLE PARTY WHILE THE WILDERNESS EATS US ALIVE!!

(Tris grabs an amberslime, electrocutes it, then tosses it at Mystia.)

Tris shut her eyes tight for a moment and then exploded in pure rage, slamming the drill down on the floor.

AAAAARRRGGGHHHH!!! GET TO WORK, ALL OF YOU!!! INADEQUATE! INCOMPETENT! FOOLS!!! BUFFONS!!!

Red Fever (2) Sadness

Taking time to observe each ingredient, and the tasks required to successfully retrieve them, Essence fell into her own headspace - stopping only to acknowledge @Caelia Etterni's presence with the wave of a hand. She pulled long, white locks out of her face, embracing the conditioned college student within her. At her disposal were many options to figure out how to control the poison of a Mandragora Root. Though only a newcomer to Terra, Essence utilized her masteries as if she had the right to call herself a veteran player. Insecurity had a hold on her soul. But, when the Elf performed, she tossed aside that insecurity - and, in a sense, masteries required a performance akin to putting one's self on stage for a play or a musical. Completly comfortable in adapting the side of her that was a facade, not a thing could interrupt Essence's focus.

Except for @Tristaria's yelling. Coming to a conclusion, Essence was just about to attempt to retrieve an ingredient when the Magia began her tirade. The comments and micro-managing reminded Essence of her mother and father. She knew what it was like to tread carefully around easily-angered people, and the fear that they could instill with words that sounded so scary, even if void of any substance.

The overly sensitive side of Essence took over. She made people happy. That was her job. She may sing and dance for her parents, to appease their anger, but she would never put on a show for a complete stranger. Pointing a finger, fighting tears, Essence's voice quivered as she fought back against Tristaria. "You know what's not useful? Being loud, being that short, and trying to compensate for your short dick size by screaming at people who are trying their best! Now get out of my way I'm gonna go sing to this damn root because I am capable, dad. Okay?"

Freudian slip aside, Essence stormed off, and - (failing to) wipe her tears away - the Elf sang softly to the roots. To bring the poison under control, to collect a sample. And it worked.

But she felt an irresistible urge to continue crying. To succumb to bitter, resentful, and upsetting emotions that she fought hard to let no one else see. Once her work was done, Essence retreated to avoid anyone seeing her so... disgustingly vulnerable.

Red Fever (2) / Disgust

Her upper lip curls back as her gaze settles on the...half-pint strutting around shouting at people. Because that was sure to inspire confidence and get the others to work harder. It takes a measure of control not to roll her eyes and when she turns to dart through the door leading outside, it is with a tenseness that hadn't been there when they first started out on this expedition.

Unfortunately, in her rush to leave the interior of the building for some fresh air, she bumps into an assistant carrying a box of what appears to be slime bubbles? Triss doesn't care to figure out what they are and she cries out in alarm when they roll from the box and splatter on the ground, drenching her shoes with their gunk. She manages to save a few from the ground, but it isn't enough. Not by half.

"Can't ya be watching where ya be going?!" she snarls, shuddering in revulsion.

Red Fever (2) Fear

Conditions:
Red Fever (2) - ???

The stack's increasing. Ash is getting anxious.

He's already feeling out of place here among the MIT scientists - he can feel his heart tapping out a dissonant rhythm in his chest, highlighting the simple fact that being surrounded by people isn't enough to stave off loneliness. He finds himself analyzing every grumble and glare. Was that person snapping because of the stress of the situation? Or is the Red Fever already creeping through their veins, lurking behind their eyes like a snake, ready to strike and drive them all into madness...?

Breathe in, breathe out. There's still things he can do to help. There are supplies to move, there are people to help. There is nothing writhing under his shirt. There is-

There is someone shouting - ranting, even, turning unbridled rage towards everyone in their path. He flattens his ears, dropping the crate of Manashrooms he was just carrying. He leaves the surprised alchemist to clean up that particular mess as he makes a beeline for @Tristaria. By the time he's there, the argument seems in full swing - Tristaria overflowing with anger, @Essence on the brink of tears.

Is this what happened to the camp? People snapping at each other like wolves, until they could do nothing but tear each others' throats out? Everything's happening so quickly.

"Oi!" He has a foot on Tristaria, and he uses every inch to loom above her with a frown. He tries not to let his tail curl between his legs as he crosses his arms. "Try not to get overwhelmed! You do remember that we're dealing with a disease that led to the camp tearing itself apart, right?"

Th-thum-thu-thu-thump. He can barely keep the waver out of his voice, push back the instinct to freeze or flee. "If you're going to be angry, be angry at the disease. Or go take a walk, or something other than shouting abuse at everyone, alright?"

Red Fever (2) Anger

The fever pitch of excitement Sepulchre af Umbral had felt after reluctantly cutting off conducting faer séance to gather with all the other MIT and MIT hopefuls rapidly waned to disappointment and then frustration as it became clear this wasn't going to be a sleuth-solving team working together while pursuing different paths to reach a solution: it was the people in charge seeking grunt work to test their theories for them. Fae would've gone into lab work if fae had wanted that.

At least this was a lesson learned, if a bitter and disappointing one. Sepulchre nods agreement, faer floppy hat exaggerating the gesture as fae pass @Lucia Mierz on faer way to pick up a 'slime. "I agree. It's silly they're trying to solve this with in-game measures before determining if it's a bug or a feature." The tiny Faerin shrugs and pats the taller lady's arm as a bitter note creeps in, "Just log off if this goes a stupid direction." In unfortunate perfect timing, @Tristaria's jab toward the 'goth lady' is slung just moments after. Sepulchre snorts derisively and jabs a finger in her direction, "Like that idiot over there."

Normally Sepulchre would move on from there and mind faer own business, but the silver-haired one's taunts dug in today. Once the tirade concludes and others start to react to it, fae decide to show some encouragement. The Faerin in an arguably gothic outfit faerself pauses to give a short round of applause, then cups faer hands around faer mouth, projecting surprisingly well for faer minute size, "Yeah, tell it to that wannabe boomer! Thanks Greenie (@Ash Vargold) and Badass (@Essence), call them out! And learn the difference between wearing dark clothes and dressing goth, idiot!"

With a self-satisfied hmph! and a flick of faer indigo black hair, Sepulchre af Umbral gracefully storms off, nabbing an Amberslime and finding an area fae can use to unleash the full fury of Dark Magic upon it. "Hah!" An unnatural shriek emits from the poor 'slime as is writhes under the magic and dissolves into a purple goo. Satisfied with the result, Sepulchre can't resist flashing a smug grin, chuckling darkly to faerself.

The room grew hot as more workers began to show signs that something was wrong. The once composed organization starting to slowly turn into a mess of shouts, cries, and laughter. Elynn was currently running around the room holding several Manashrooms and stuffing them into her mouth. The Yladian's tendency to feel emotions more strongly making the fever's current effect particularly bad for her.

Nin felt it was time to prepare a more direct form of testing.

"Excelsior."

(She tried to get everyone's attention. No one listened)

"Excelsior!"

(Not even a glance as everyone looked at Tristaria instead. Nin's face became dark behind her glasses as her golden eyes gleamed for a second from behind her thick spectacles.)

"EXCELSIOR!!!!!"

Nin's face turned beat red as she screamed into the device causing it to crackle. Her glasses almost falling off. Readjusting them she saw that finally, she had their attention)

"Cough... Ahem... Thank you. We have reached the step of this equation where we shall commence testing of these discovered traits. We have multiples of the formula, so now... who shall be the variable?"

(Several blinks as some didn't have a clue what she said.)

'Test subjects."

(There we go)

Testing Current Mixtures

A experiments to figure out the combined effects of the Serenity Mist ingredients is now underway.

Using the various combinations currently being researched and developed, characters may volunteer to be live test subjects. The process is simple, just stand in the corner with less clothes on and get a quick spray of various mixtures. The goal is to absorb the various combinations and record how they affect a person.

Pick one of the following mixture and make a Save (Any) and roll under the DC listed below. Your goal is to fail the save to discover the effects. All testing rolls get disadvantage for this phase.
  • Burning + Magically Charged Mixture = (DC 80)
  • Poisonous + Curbing Mixture = (DC 50)
  • Soothing + Glowing Mixture = (DC 50)
  • Strengthening + Infectious Mixture = (DC 90)
  • Soothing + Strengthening Mixture = (DC 50)
  • Strengthening + Magically Charged Mixture = (DC 80)
  • Burning + Soothing Mixture = (DC 50)
  • Curbing + Glowing Mixture = (DC 50)
  • Poisonous + Burning Mixture = (DC 70)
  • Infectious + Curbing Mixture = (DC 60)
You do not have to post to volunteer, simply make the required roll and tag @Pandora*. Your results will be revealed in Cycle 5.

Too depressed to be a member of anything
Red Fever (2)
1d6 (3) (Sadness)

Haru had grown quiet over time as the work had begun. His laughter had seemingly taken a back-seat to his focus on the experiment for the time being. He made not a sound as he worked, even as others asked him for minor things. It seemed like he was in his own little world.

That didn't stop the real world at large from trying, though. Gadgets began to whirr and claxon as they so did to operate, and people grew loud as if to talk over each-other. The trilobyte before him hissed and scratched as it tried to inflict the same madness upon the sage.

He just wanted to ignore it all. They could wait. This was a place where he needed to focus. He just wanted silence, some place he could feel more alone than he was.

The trilobyte sunk fangs into his skin. The magia girl, unable to cope with her madness, began to scream at everyone. A little drone in the air flew to sink a needle into @Lucy 's skin as she clung to Haru desperately, and @Tristaria was throwing an acidic slime at @Mystia . Others began to argue. It was all so loud.

Haru did not snap often.

The little drone in the air bent inwards, seemingly crushed into scrap by nothing at all. Creeping wooden limbs tore out of the floor and walls, whipping the slime to the ground. Was it just a trick of the light, or did the knurls in the wood look like eyes? Chains of an unknown light wrapped around the raging magia's mouth and limbs, silencing her words as a [Hinder!] debuff popped up around her head. Haru's hand was extended behind his back-he had probably thrown them like bolas. The Trylobyte sat in place, teeth still sunken into Haru's flesh. It stay unmoving. It might have just died, but it was hard to tell.

The opened door was gently closed. The haunting sound of creaking structure remained in the silent room.

"...My good researchers. You should know," Haru notes, glancing behind for a moment at the notably quieter room, "That we are in a place of learning. I would appreciate it if you could be quiet and focus. Help us learn, please."

Haru glanced back to his placated subject in his hand, dutifully extracting what he needed from it. As if on his queue, a mushroom limb held a testing spray towards the bound Tristaria. It was hardly forced upon her person-but the limb didn't seem to be making an offer about whether she should use it.

MIT (Freshman Researcher)
Red Fever (2) Anger Amplified

Megan had grown annoyed. The leaders of the MIT were as pretentious as usual! Always thinking they had a better plan about things than everyone else. If they were half as smart as they thought they were, they'd just do what Megan told them to do, and this would be that. If she had her way, she'd make a blizzard machine powerful enough to launch Isulus back into another ice age. Sure everything would freeze and die, but that'd be the point, the fever has to be coming from the local fauna, so if it dies SO DOES THE FEVER!.

It was obvious, blatantly so, sure there may have been an argument or two about preserving life as they know it' but it'd be perfectly preserved in ice! Frozen forever in time until Megan was prepared and ready to research what it may be, as long as it wasn't a bug, no those would need to remain frozen until the end of time. No reason to study them, whatever help they'd bring wouldn't be worth the interaction and it was that simple.

Still though...they had access to resources she'd need one day once she assumed control of the entire company. So it was best just to play along with them, at least for now. She could freeze them all later if she needed. With nothing better to do, she decided to take her anger out on one of the slime core specimens. She knew she'd have to be somewhat careful with it, so she decided to simply mock it, to see if it was capable of understanding her.

"You. Are a stupid slime you know that? Your not even the right color? Amber? That's a stone. You should be blue. Or at least green, MAYBE red if you want to be outlandish. Honestly."

Despite her hardest at mocking the slime core, it seemed to relax under the pressure, seemingly soothed by Megan's words. Infuriated Megan turned up the attempt screaming at the blob,

"YOU ARE A STUPID, UGLY, POOPY FACE!"

Naturally, the object continued to soften, entering a new phase of research.

Creature had been sent to secure the Verdant Trilobite for one of the researchers to conduct experiments on. It was just a bug, he thought. But the MIT nerd had gone on about how it could be the key to finding a cure, so he would not object. With an armored hand he carefully picks it up by the horn and carries it at arms length back to the researcher.

"Here's your nasty bug." He said, holding it up on display. The trilobite didn't take kindly to this and would toot a small cloud into Creature's face. Despite his ensuing fit of coughing he managed to pass the insect off to the researcher without much fuss.

"Ugh… I need to get the fuck out of here."

***

Outside he leaned against the building's wall, wiping the beads of sweat forming on his brow. Creature slowly massaged his temple. All the screaming, laughter, yelling, and crying… It was too much. It felt like he was close to puking. But he held back after seeing @Trissayne Lavelle had the same idea.

"Having fun?" Creature asked, trying to lighten the mood, if only a little.
