The Mizar, Ilmea's Lament → Regalion, Dunnstads

Although Ayna was relieved when @Chrys agreed with her plan, she was caught surprised when he approached her. Still, she maintained her composure and stood there coldly without doing anything, even though her mind fumbled for ways to push him away, including pumping a million volts into his wretched flesh. But she was frozen by that eye contact of his, steely and unnerved. What the fuck is he doing? Is he going to—

Their journey back to civilization, back to Regalion in Dunnstads, was peaceful. There were no ambushes meted out, and apart from the occasional squabbling between Ayna and Chrys, everything else was smooth sailing.

While the rest of her crew waited at the port, the magia captain took the three adventurers with her to meet the noble that wanted to procure the scepter. It was a rather boring scene, with the noble ignoring everyone else but Ayna, with whom they were making the deal. The noble took their time inspecting the item, and though he stopped with a look of dissatisfaction, his offer was still more than anyone had expected. And so, Ayna coolly accepted and made the trade.

On their way out of the noble's villa, after their treasure was fenced for a lot of gold, gold that was divided into three parts as promised—a third for the ship, a third for the crew, and a third for the additional adventurers, Ayna couldn't help but try and satiate her curiosity while Dolly narrated to Cymry her economic exploits.

"So what now? I suppose this is where we part ways with each other, Chrys. Me and my crew, Dolly, Cymry, and of course, you. I take it you'll be taking all that money and spending it on your...vices?"

Ayna had no idea what vices Chrys had, but considering that he was a man, she believed he'd have so many, including that of the flesh. He didn't seem like he'd be an exception, just more of the same really, though he was at least reliable when it mattered. Plenty of adventures would've gone awry if Chrys had not protected her as well as Kamala and everyone else that needed his earthen shield. This one was over. Time to embark on a new one. Hopefully with less shark monsters.

Regalion, Dunnstads

Boy, was Chrystopheles Stoneheart glad to be on solid ground again! All those days, weeks even, spent at sea, on @Ayna Nietzsche's ship, was fun and stuff, but nothing beat having the very earth beneath your feet. Of course, Chrys was a geomancer, so that was his entire thing. Using his magic during those battles at sea took a hell of a lot from him, even though he was very good at hiding how much energy and willpower he had expended during those fights. It helped that Ayna was there to tease and bully.

Truth be told, this whole hostile relationship between him and Ayna was pretty motivational for the God of Rocks. Despite all the banter, he had high respect for her, and he hoped she had the same for him. Otherwise, she wouldn't have indulged his stupidity this long. This was probably for the best, anyway. It would only be more awkward if she wasn't always yelling at him.

"No offense, Captain, but as much as I loved being cooped up in that floating coffin of yours, I can't wait to go back home to Lyrwick, far from the sea, to once again indulge in my...vices. As I always do."

Chrys didn't view that last part as an insult to himself, more as a playful mocking of Ayna's words. Or choice of which. The geomancer's only vice was being a cheapskate, hoarding all his money, never spending a single copper. On the rare occasions that he did, it was mostly for stupid stuff like a full-sized commission of Ayna Nietzsche, an ongoing project that he would someday gift to her as another mocking statement. Life would be boring without a friendly rival.

"Of course you're free to join me whenever you want. My doors are always open to you and that hot first mate of yours."

Chrys snickered, knowing full well that she would yell and scream at him in revenge. Maybe even slap him or shock him with her furious lightning. Some may view it as abusive or horrendous, but to him? It was all good fun. Like an inside joke between friends, not everyone's invited to participate, only to watch and judge if they're so bored with their own lives.

Maybe some day things would change.

But for now? This was how good as it gets.
