Once the Mizar had left Port Damascus, Ayna retreated to the privacy of the Captain's Quarters. They were now well on their way to where Isle Squama had been, already en route to their destination, sailing through the bitter waters of the Lament. It would only be a matter of time before they found themselves back where it had all begun. She gripped her glass of rum tightly, and after a pause as she stared out to the sea through her window, took a quick swig of the alcohol to temper her nerves. They would be fighting underwater soon, but how many of them truly knew what it was like to struggle to survive under the waves?
Her reverie was broken by @Chrys' knocking, and with an eyebrow raised out of curiosity, she invited him in, a sigh accompanying that gesture. Ayna took note of Chrys being a proficient defender, but he was also always decked in heavy armor, wielding a massive sword. Both things will lead to him only sinking further into the abyss... Returning to her chair, she gestured for him to join her, no other option left for the Captain on the matter, and poured him a glass of rum as well, sliding it down her table closer to his direction. With another sigh, she posed a question to the armored adventurer.
"Tell me, Chrys, what do you think is the most important thing a captain can feel for her crew? Trust? Pride?"
Ayna eyed him close as she waited for his reply. Whatever comes out of his mouth next could change some things. Maybe in her. Maybe for the rest of the journey. Maybe once they were all done with their goal.
Chrys was a little disappointed that the Captain was only drinking, mostly because of the lack of snacks accompanying her session. As he walked further into her room, he gave her a warm smile, plopping himself on a seat before her table, and taking the offered glass of rum with a nod. He took a slow sniff of the drink first, though it also served to give him some much-needed time to consider her question. @Ayna Nietzsche seemed a bit too serious at the moment, though Chrys had no idea why. Hmm.
"Well... That sounds a little too serious for my taste, but... Why not both? Never been a captain, but I would like to think a captain would find pride in the trust between her and her crew... And at the same time trust that same pride to deliver a positive result."
It was the scummiest of answers, the easiest way out of an actual conundrum. When made to choose between two things, combining those two things into an answer was usually the safest way out of the conversation, though only when your life wasn't in danger. There's always something about finding a third option when you're only presented with two that stumps the presenter and everyone else involved. It's an illusion of wisdom, most of the time, and helping someone choose between important things without actually choosing. He heaved a sigh of relief when the rum went down his belly, smiling at Ayna before looking around her very impressive room.
"You've gone a long way since last I was on this ship... I'm proud of you, Ayna. Kamala and the rest of the Astras would be, too."
There was a bit of truth in Chrys not finding the Captain's conundrum worth more time and effort to truly delve into, instead finding himself diving straight into the more emotional aspect of nostalgia. How long has it been since the Astras in their full potential have materialized? And was this the appropriate moment to drag all that out in the air? Perhaps not, but he was enjoying the rum and the journey too much. What even is a conundrum really?
The Mizar, Ilmea's Lament
-30 HP from Boarder Retal & Axe Trick (x2)
Ayna contemplated @Chrys' response but said nothing. She simply took another swig of her glass of rum and stared at the map on her table. Whatever happens next, happens. The crew of the Mizar will fight valiantly until their dying breath. The rest can do whatever they want.
Suddenly, Sally Hudson burst into the Captain's Quarters, a look of alarm on her face. Sally was Ayna's First Mate, her most trusted companion on the sea, the second-in-command of the Mizar, so when she appeared just like that, Ayna realized something was up.
"Captain! Another ship has emerged from behind a tall rock formation and is moving to intercept!"
"What ship?"
Ayna rose from her seat, and without even turning to Chrys, immediately followed Sally out of her quarters, moving swiftly back to the deck with her weapon brandished. Who would dare try to board the Mizar? Some idiot maybe. Even on the lands of Dunnstads, the whispers of the Lightning Lancer of the Lament abound. This ship might just have a death wish.
"A smaller one, Captain, but based on the colors it's flying, it's that asshole Craku's Sunstreak."
Craku was indeed an asshole, always refusing to negotiate, always attacking outright. There was only one language the stinky pirate captain understood, and it was the language of violence. Fortunately for them, Ayna was also well-versed in the same language.
"Prepare to defend the Mizar!"
Ayna arrived at the deck with murder in her eyes as Sally started to bark orders to the rest of the crew, stirring those others that joined them on the ship. It was going to be a brutal fight, especially for the newbies who were not well-versed in fighting at sea. She clenched her jaw as the Sunstreak rapidly gained on the Mizar, and sooner than she wanted, Craku's voice bellowed past the waves. "In the name of the laws of Ilmea's Lament, or lack thereof, surrender your vessel peacefully, or we shall take her by force!" At the sight of Ayna, he licked his lips like a complete pervert.
It would not be long until his crew boarded their ship. They were in defense mode now. Hopefully, the Stalwart Defender on their ship would be useful. Don't fuck me over, Chrys. I'll kill you if you do.
Ayna herself did not wait that long, for when the boarders chucked themselves from the Sunstreak to the Mizar, she met them head-on with her blade. The Lightning Lancer of the Lament charged at the oncoming bodies, hurling herself off her ship's rail and thrusting at one of them square in his chest. The shocking force pushed the idiot back to his ship unconscious. Ayna wasn't done there, however, as she spun her body to the right midair and thrust at a second idiot not too far from her, electrocuting him as well and pushing his body off its trajectory, only for the man to be swallowed by the waves. Before she herself could suffer the same fate, she used her Aeromancy to push herself back to the Mizar.
❰ Excellence: Wicked Light ❱
Landing back on the deck of her ship like she was Michelle Yeoh, Ayna looked around and scowled when she realized other boarders made it to their destination. She expected the same but it didn't soften the blow to her pride as the captain of the boarded ship. Around her, crew and passengers fought the pirates for their lives, as cannons flew overhead from the Sunstreak, satiating its captain's lust for violence. Wincing at Craku's disgusting beard, only then did she realize that a handaxe was stuck to her shoulder and another to her side. How the fuck did they know where we were?

The Mizar, Ilmea's Lament
-30 HP from Boarder Retal & Axe Trick x2
Chrys raised an eyebrow when @Ayna Nietzsche's first mate barged in on them without even a single knock. He had known her from so many moons ago, when he first got aboard the ship. She was fine, if not too strict sometimes. When it dawned on him what news of another ship attempting to intercept theirs truly meant, he heaved a disappointed sigh, paused for a moment to consider his options, and gulped down the remaining liquid from his glass before slamming it back down on Ayna's table hard. Gods, I hate sea travel.
When he arrived at the ship's deck, all hell was already breaking lose. People were screaming, axes were being thrown around, arrows were being shot, and even cannonballs were hurtling in the air. Someone bumped into him back first, and upon realizing it was some guy on their side of the battle, Chrys quickly grabbed him and placed the man behind himself, intercepting an attempt on his life by an axe-wielding maniac. As the boarder then tried to drive the axe in Chrys' shoulder, the armored adventurer easily grabbed his wrist and his neck with the other hand. Another cannonball was hurled in the air and Chrys screamed at no one and everyone.
"Someone do something with those cannons please!"
Chrys then pushed his attacker with a mighty kick to the chest, forcing the stinky pirate backward. When the scowling sea bandit tried to rush him again, Chrys finally put him down with a straight uppercut to the jaw, sending the unlucky idiot up in the air, barely conscious, only for gravity to deal him the final blow. Another idiot then tried to run at Chrys from behind, throwing axes at the massive target, but the armored adventurer was more than ready to take him out as well with a single brutal boot to the face. Chrys winced as the impact made an ugly thud, mostly from the pirate's head smacking against the ship's deck. Damn, wouldn't want to be the guy fighting me, too.
❰ Brawl Combat Legend ❱
He then willed his Auric Geomancy to swirl around the Captain and the random crewmate he just saved, manifesting as barely visible shields of sand and dust, before squinting at the annoying cannoneers. Those guys are next. He thought before dodging a cannonball aimed at his head. Rude. Rudeness begets rudeness, and unfortunately for these assholes, Chrys' version of rudeness is just slamming people to the ground with brute force.

Hearing @Chrys' plea, Ayna narrowed her eyes toward the Sunstreak, quickly scanning the vessel for where the cannons were. It wasn't a hard task, as all of them were being used. A cannonball even flew at Ayna's face, but she was too fast to get hit and much quicker that she easily dodged it. Rude. She then calmly took a few steps backward before running at full speed toward the railing of her own ship, leaping off of it and hurling herself onto the other ship.
Aboard the Sunstreak, Ayna surprised a cannoneer, who instinctively shot at her. She was surprised as well but was able to avoid the attempt at her life, though the man fought back, desperately, with a scimitar. The cannoneer caught her in the shoulder but she retaliated by suddenly piercing him in the neck and doubling down by sending a surge of lightning through her weapon and into the man's entire body, thereby electrocuting him until he passed out.
❰ Excellence: Wicked Light ❱
With a scowl, Ayna simply flicked the man's blood off of her weapon, slashing at the air, as his body dropped to the floor of the ship's deck. The waves were as merciless as the warriors of the sea, pushing the mighty vessels to and fro, making the ground as unstable as the captain of the Sunstreak. Ayna looked around for Craku the C-word, and when she found him, she screamed his name to get his attention.
"CRAKU! YOU ABOMINABLE EXCUSE FOR A MAN! HOW DARE YOU TRY TO BOARD MY SHIP?!"
A few seconds passed before Craku actually responded to her, laughing his heart out like a madman. "Oh, shit! That's your ship? Oh, well. Time to see if the so-called Lightning Lancer of the Lament truly lives up to her name," he cackled some more before grabbing a nearby crewmate and tossing him toward the now vacant cannon, the same cannon whose cannoneer Ayna just eliminated. "GEORGIE, DO YOUR FUCKING JOB, YOU FUCKING GOOD-FOR-NOTHING <basseal honk>!" The man named Georgie, who looked pretty young and inexperienced, gulped before warily approaching Ayna and the vacant cannon, all while Craku laughed and sneered.
So that's your game, eh? Ayna squinted at the boy named Georgie, trying to intimidate him. Throwing your crew around, ordering them to commit heinous crimes, without even a semblance of concern for their lives? She readied her steel as she shifted her attention toward Craku. Let's see, then, if they're truly loyal to their captain... What remains of a ship when the captain is gone? ...or if their fear dissipates along with your death! Ayna wanted to know if Craku's crew was more of the same.

-15 HP from Cannoneer Retal
Channeling his Auric Geomancy, Chrys manifested a makeshift stone bridge from the Mizar to the Sunstreak with this Thousand Sparkling Gold, upon which he ran to reach the other side. Once on the opposing boat, Chrys immediate kicked the living hell out of Georgie, knocking him away from @Ayna Nietzsche and the vacant cannon and also out with a single blow. It wasn't a pretty kick, nothing noteworthy, though much of Chrys' Brawl-Around Defense wasn't meant to be pretty or noteworthy. As long as the kicks and punches did their job, that's all that mattered to him. Shame he almost always forgets how hilariously strong he is.

The cannoneers all stared at him, some gulping, others clearly distressed. The massive adventurer just took out one of them with a single blow. It was logical to think none of them would be able to survive his wrath. They would be right.

Ayna simply nodded at @Chrys before proceeding to face the pirate captain on her own. She wasn't worried about the armored adventurer who could tank a hundred cannon fire. She wasn't even worried about herself. One-on-one, she wouldn't find Craku the C-word a hard foe to fight. She's faced bigger and better. He was just louder than most.
"Well, well, well! Looks like the Lightning Lancer of the Lament wants a private session with Craku the Cruel!" Ayna frowned at how loud he was. He was almost louder than the cannon fire in the background. While he played in the air with his scimitar, Ayna prepared her polearm with more refinement and definitely more grace. The man was dying now. She needed to end him to stop this senseless violence. "LET'S DANCE, LASSIE!"
Craku the Cruel... That's what he, and only he, calls himself. The rest of the Lament knows him for another C-word, the worst C-word. As he roared and rushed toward her, Ayna took a few seconds to unveil a shard of her Storm's Eye before meeting him halfway, plainly thrusting her blade at his shoulder. As the two warriors of the sea collided, they ended up at the opposite end of where they each started, replacing each other's position before the collision.
❰ Excellence: Wicked Light ❱
Ayna winced as she felt the wound on her side, a souvenir from Craku's scimitar. The let out a maniacal laugh before turning around, revealing that his shoulder looked gruesome after Ayna's spear had its way with it. Craku spat out some blood, shaking his head and then pointing his blade at the Lightning Lancer of the Lament. "GODS DAMN, YOU'RE GOOD!" He gave her a standing ovation, as much of a standing ovation as a man with only one functional shoulder remaining could, as Ayna stared daggers at him.
"SURRENDER, YOU STUPID FUCK, OR THE NEXT THING I PIERCE WILL BE YOUR <basseal honk>!"
Hey, that rhymed! Not that Ayna noticed. She was too focused on ending Craku for good. Her victory was nigh. She could feel it. Hell, she could even taste it.

The Sunstreak, Ilmea's Lament
-60 HP from Cannoneer Retal (x4)
While @Ayna Nietzsche took on the captain of this here vessel in a pretty one-on-one duel, Chrys was left to deal with all four remaining cannoneers, and deal with all four of them, he did. One of the pirate underlings, the most inexperienced one perhaps, or maybe just the youngest of their lot, fired a cannonball straight at his shoulder, which Chrys took, absolutely unfazed. The armored adventurer continued approaching them with a calm smile on his face, eerie and completely intimidating. After all, he just shrugged off a cannonball to the shoulder and STILL managed a smile. Nothing scarier than that.
When he extended both arms forward, the rest of the cannoneers began firing at him, hoping to remove that smug smirk on his face, and of course, end him before they could end them. Chrys took all of their fearful fury and remained standing where he was, still the smile on his face. Manifesting his Thousand Sparkling Gold through his Auric Geomancy, he willed forth jagged shards of the earth beneath the ocean floor to rise in the air, floating in front of him, before he hurled them with a simple finger gun gesture at all four men.
❰ Thousand Sparkling Gold: Demolishing Splinter ❱
In a panic, they began to run away. The first to fall was hit so severely in the back of his knee, that blood and bone spilled forth from his flesh, his cry of pain and anguish a truly dreadful song to be heard. Another was struck in his back, forcing him forward and straight into another, both men immediately losing consciousness at the horrible collision. The last one made the mistake of looking back and it cost him dearly: He was struck straight in his face, his head, that the impact forced his neck to snap, his head and his face forced to the front, and his entire body fell to the floor without any scream. He was just undone.
"Like I said: No one stands between me and my money."
The God of Rocks heaved a sigh as he craned his neck to remove an annoying pain. He rotated his shoulders and stretched out his arms and elbows. Although he was able to withstood the projectiles sent his way, it didn't mean that he could not feel pain. He was just that damn good. Or, more believably, he really hates it when people get between him and his money.

The Sunstreak, Ilmea's Lament
-35 HP from Craku Retal
Ayna was too focused on Craku the C-word to notice @Chrys going ham on the remaining cannoneers. She also didn't notice another cannoneer pop up from out of nowhere, taking the reins of a recently vacated cannon thanks to the God of Rocks' effort. If she had, she would have smirked at the growing frustration on Chrys' face. If ever. But Ayna had more important things on her plate at the very same moment.
"Surrender? SURRENDER?!" Craku let out a mighty and defiant laughter, clearly mocking the Captain of the Mizar's final attempt at a peaceful resolution. He was too focused on his own arrogance that he didn't notice Ayna begin to smile. If his ignorance and pride would blind him from his inevitable death, then so be it. Ayna would play the role of his grim reaper with delightful efficiency. "There is no surrender on these seas, lassie! If you haven't noticed yet, then let me educate you: The seaborn live AND DIE at sea!"
Craku then charged at Ayna with his scimitar, rage and excitement in his eyes. Admirable. If he wasn't so stupid. The Lightning Lancer of the Lament, without even charging her polearm with her lightning as per usual, simply used the man's momentum against him, rushing to meet him in his final duel. Without a feint, only a simple dodge to evade his scimitar, Ayna pierced the side of his neck with her blade, ending his scummy ways.
❰ Seven Saints' Spearmanship ❱
"Suffer your own stupidity, sea swine."
Without much effort, Ayna retrieved her polearm's blade from his neck, using the momentum of her pull to free the weapon of the pirate captain's disgusting blade, as Craku gargled his own blood and fell face-first on his deck. At the last second, his hand instinctively flew to the wound, a failed and useless attempt to stop the blood from flowing out. Ayna didn't even look back at his soon-to-be corpse, already knowing the final fate of the deplorable and dangerous dunce. One less problem for seafarers. One less pirate captain to contend with.

Chrys had just finished stretching and rotating what he could of his limbs to check which ones were badly hurt (spoiler alert: de nada) when he saw another filthy pirate take over a vacated cannon. He heaved a sigh, staring daggers at the new challenger. The latter didn't seem at all that intimidated, seemingly tightening their grip on the weapon's trigger. What a weird contraption.
"Kid, I'm only gonna say this once... This is your only warn—"
Before he could finish his statement, the dumb cannoneer blasted him straight in his right shoulder. Chrys winced in mild pain. He was more hurt that the filthy pirate interrupted his badass statement. Rude. Clenching his jaw, Chrys calmly walked toward the idiot, each step making the latter panic even more. As the cannoneer struggled to reload his weapon, the adventurer stood towering before him. And then Chrys punched him straight in his face.

Chrys didn't hold back, mostly because he forgot how strong he was now. That single punch? It sent the single cannoneer, an unlucky bastard, flying off the ship. He was already dead before his body even hit the water. Heaving another sigh, Chrys turned to where his Captain was, only then realizing she had already won her fight. That put a smile on his face.
"Time to abandon ship, Captain. After you?"
Using his Auric Geomancy, Chrys manifested a makeshift bridge of floating rocks from the Sunstreak back to the Mizar, which he would take regardless if @Ayna Nietzsche did the same. He did wait for her to make her decision before returning to the friendlier vessel, though. Captain or not, lady or not, Ayna had the right and privilege to go first, to go before him. After all, she did just duel another pirate captain and won. Pretty impressive, though I've seen better from her.

Morale Break
Upon defeating a Captain, one person may attempt a Presence Check of DC 40. On success, any remaining enemies flee! But that's not gonna happen, right? Because we'll kill this mofo for trying to take MY SHIP!
When she finally looked over to how @Chrys was doing, she caught him punching a guy off the vessel. She couldn't help but smirk at the brutality of his quiet rage. The display was made even sweeter for her by the fact that these were filthy pirates who went against her. There was nothing more that Ayna disliked than filthy pirates going against her. Well, maybe being offered to run through shaky bridges of earth when she could just fly over.
"Always."
Ayna left Chrys with a raised eyebrow and a smirk. Without a word, she refused his offer and instead jumped and flew back to her ship. Once she landed gracefully on her vessel, she realized the boarders had all been eliminated. Her crew was victorious. They, along with the others who had just recently joined them, looked back at her with pride on their faces. Once Chrys joined them, she gave them all her recognition.
"The Mizar reigns supreme! Now clean this fucking mess, and someone find out how they found us! There's a rat aboard my ship and I do not wish for them to survive before we reach our destination!"
She screamed with both pride and rage, eyeing each and every one she could, from their head to their toes, before looking back toward the Sunstreak, their would-be boarders' ship, that was now trailing behind them, losing its speed, not a single living soul left on it to see its journey through. She glared at the defiant vessel with its defiant crew, all dead at their hands, as its form slowly shrank until it was no more. Let the sea have its scum.
All righty...Chrys thought it was a little rude for the captain to just ignore his makeshift earthen bridge and fly back to her ship with relative ease. Then again, it was just on par with how @Ayna Nietzsche usually interacted with him. Boy, can the magia hold a grudge. First impressions really do last with her.
Shaking his head in disbelief, he smirked before running back toward their ship through his unsteady but ultimately useful construct, each step he made forward destroying a part of the rest of the path behind him until it was no more and he was back on the deck. With the triumphant crew of the Mizar, chrys celebrated, hailing their success in thwarting an attack, basically patting themselves on their backs. He couldn't help but steal worried glances of his friend, however, so when she was alone, he slowly made his way next to her.
"A rat? On your ship? Must be a very brave rat."
There was much to be said for a spy to find themselves in Ayna's ship. The most rational explanation is that they picked someone up from Port Damascus, unless the spy's been with them since Isle Squama. What a horrible name for an island, though. He stole glimpses of Dolly and Cymry, their newly met acquaintances from that wretched pirate hellhole, and pondered his suspicions, though he said nothing to the captain. They had just endured a battle. They didn't need to follow it up with forcing people to walk the plank or whatever they did on these things.
"What are the chances the pirates just found us on a whim? Or maybe they stalked us from Port Damascus?"
Chrys wanted to check all possibilities before jumping on the bandwagon of a witch hunt. Or in this case, a spy hunt. A rat hunt? While such a thing would be entertaining, hilarious even, again, they had just survived a battle. No point in ruffling feathers, especially without concrete evidence. Unless her crew found one, then that would change everything. Guess I'll just have to wait and see. Sea? Ha! I'm so hilarious!
Although a part of her was annoyed by @Chrys' attempt at small talk, as evident by the way she frowned when she caught a glimpse of his approaching presence, the way her arms crossed over her chest, or even her lack of eye contact with him, another part remembered how useful he was in her battle on the other ship. That would account for something. Thus, instead of just outright screaming at him for disturbing her reverie with the seas, she instead calmly replied without turning to him.
"No, not brave. More stupid. And that is a possibility, true, but someone had to inform them of our intentions. A random pirate attack all the way from Port Damascus? Obvious merchant vessels would be more worthy of that attention."
The Captain's intuition was proven ultimately correct when a member of her crew, Salty Shirley, approached them next with a cowering idiot. She held the unshaven man by the arm forcefully. Even though Shirley was smaller, her aura of danger was terrifying enough to bend most men to their knees. The fact that she wore a bandana over her mouth, the lower part of her face like she was in a cowboy movie helped. "Captain. I found this scoundrel hiding in one of our barrels. Didn't take me long to get the truth out of him." The man immediately scrambled for his defense. "P-please have mercy, captain... They threatened my child, my family! I had to help them!"
Mercy? How dare he speak of mercy when my crew could have died from the attack!Ayna stared the man down from head to toe before turning to Shirley, speaking to her instead.
"Throw him in the brig. We'll figure out what to do with him after all this is done."
Shirley simply nodded and dragged the man with her by the arm, though the latter continued to plead his case, his begging falling on deaf ears. "Captain! Please! My child! My little girl! Tell her I love her at least!" Ayna ignored all that, finally turning to Chrys with cold, calculating eyes.
"Get some rest. Tell Dolly and Cymry to do the same. I'll handle the rat."
She then began to walk away from him, intending to have a little chat with their spy. That and also get some rest. She was magia. She already spent so much energy dueling that <basseal honk> of a pirate. She needed to recharge.
The Captain had a point, which Chrys had expected. @Ayna Nietzsche, after all, was more well-versed in this thing than he was. She had been playing ships and pirates more than he has been on a ship. It was only right that he took her explanation more respectfully. Still, he was more than surprised when the rat was immediately found and coerced into revealing the truth of their crimes.
Chrys wanted to say something else but fought the urge to, realizing the Captain had already decided her next course of action. Dissuading her from which would have been rude and not to mention foolish. Chrys did not want to spend the rest of their journey in the brig with the rat. Who knows if that was all the punishment he'd get? Walking the plank was less sexy outside of a pirate movie.
With a nod, he simply watched Ayna leave his company. He continued watching her until she disappeared from his view. Then and only then did he do as she suggested and find the merchant girl and the stubborn boy. Cymry had fought the boarders with the rest of the crew and did a stellar job of defending their vessel. Chrys found him getting bandaged by Dolly in their makeshift quarters.
"Glad to see you're both still alive."
Cymry just stared at him, heaved a disinterested sigh, and shifted his attention to Dolly, who was too focused on her task at hand. She did ask Chrys something, without feeling the need to turn to the armored adventurer. "How's the Captain? Saw her duel the other Captain from where I was hiding, I mean, uhh, from where I was observing... Shit got too real out there,"she mused, accidentally tightening the bandage around Cymry's arm, making him wince in pain momentarily. Chrys found this amusing, snickering, as he sat on his bed opposite Cymry's, where the pair was, that was right next to Dolly's.
"She's all right. Just needs some rest. Like the rest of us."
Dolly raised an eyebrow at Chrys as Cymry mumbled his gratitude before lying on his bed. The merchant girl paid no heed to the latter, which Chrys didn't quite catch, already on his bed as well. "She singlehandedly took out a man feared by others while you survived cannonballs to the face. Maybe not like the rest of us," Dolly snickered as she went to her best to rest. Chrys only chuckled before closing his eyes for a well-deserved sleep. Yeah, maybe not.
While her "chat" with the spy was less than useful, and more attempts of the same were met with similar terrible results, her rest was the exact opposite. Ayna had sufficient time to recharge herself and was in a good mood when her second mate, Sally Hudson, suddenly shouted from the helm: "Razortail Abyss! We've arrived!" Even with the winds favoring them on their journey, it still took them three days to return to the now sunken ruins of Isle Squama.
The Captain herself joined her crew as they all moved to the starboard side of the ship. Everyone wanted to steal a glimpse of the waves as the first light of dawn slowly crept over the horizon. Along the distant coast, they could make out the mainland section of Isle Squama. It was still intact but now appeared deserted. Of course. What did we expect? I, too, would have abandoned my home for fear of another attack if I weren't capable of defending it.Ayna also noticed that the waters around the ship were murky and marked by only a few stray scraps of driftwood bobbing lazily on the surface.
Unfortunately for Ayna, she wasn't able to spot an ambush party of fishmen and sharkmen in the waters. Although, maybe @Chrys would (with an Awareness Check of 75+ maybe?), though that would be a miracle. In any case, it seemed that the surprise attack would be carried out somewhat efficiently. Unless Chrys pulls off that miracle? No pressure, though. Ayna wouldn't have that much confidence in him anyway.

Chrys was woken from his peaceful slumber by someone's yelling from the deck. He tried to roll in his makeshift bed, trying to ignore it and go back to sleep, to his dream of being drowned in a lot of money, but alas, he couldn't. He was now banned from slumberland, so he sat up on his bed to share his dismay with his roommates, only to find Cymry and Dolly no longer on their own beds. Huh... Are they all outside?
Joining the rest of the passengers and crew on the deck, he smiled. It's been a while since he woke up on a boat. Although the sight before him was less than warm and cozy, he still felt nostalgic to the simpler times when he could get a cruise vacation, or any vacation for that matter, for more than a weekend. Life was hard, and so was he his work. Chrys was too engrossed in his nostalgia, too, so he didn't really notice the lurking dangers in the waters around them.
What a wonderful way to wake up! Hope this never ends...
...but the boat started rocking side to side as the fishmen and the sharkmen clambered aboard. Chrys gulped, watching as the sheer numbers advantage of their attackers seemed insurmountable at the moment. Guess I spoke too soon...
"Captain, watch out!
Chrys tried to warn @Ayna Nietzsche but it was already too late! She probably already saw them before him, too, especially considering he was much closer to the hold than she was. God, I hate calamari! He didn't, but he felt it was the appropriate moment to quip.

The Mizar, Ilmea's Lament
-30 HP from Fishmen Retal with dying Blood Frenzy (x2)
Ayna clenched her jaw when her ship was boarded yet again, this time by the same fishmen that had invaded Isle Squama, only they brought friends with them. Gods damn it! We should have expected this! The Captain immediately brandished her spear before yelling her orders at the crew and everyone else who wanted to fight, who wished to defend their vessel.
"PROTECT THE MIZAR WITH YOUR LIFE! SHOW THESE WATERBREATHERS WHY WE'RE BETTER!"
As the battle began, two fishmen warriors charged at Ayna with weapons drawn, only to be intercepted by her spear. The magia used the length of her weapon, gaining an advantage in its reach alone, by piercing both of her attackers in the next. Their mistake was charging at her right away. Plus, the fact that they were charging behind each other was pretty helpful. Ayna grunted as she kicked their lifeless body off of her weapon. Only after did she hear @Chrys' warning.
With the clanging of steel against steel and the screaming of both crew and invader alike, Ayna yelled at Chrys, gesturing toward the massive sharkmen. He was the biggest on their side. He should deal with the biggest on their side. He would love that challenge, wouldn't he?
"CHRYS! TAKE THOSE GIANT SHARKS WITH LEGS OUT! WE'LL DEAL WITH THE FISH WARRIORS HERE! GO!"
Without waiting for his response, Ayna rushed into the fray once more, finding more fishmen to take out in order to save her ship and her crew. The Captain might sink with her ship, but there was no way in hell Ayna was sinking without a proper fight.

Chrys watched as @Ayna Nietzsche gave her brief but impassioned speech to the rest of the crew, including himself and the newer passengers from Isle Squama and Port Damascus. As much as a part of him wasn't a fan of how impulsive and aggressive the magia usually was, and how hostile she always seemed to be toward him, most of him was impressed at her command of the room, literally the entire ship.
He continued to watch as Ayna took out two fish warriors with one effortless strike, a smile forming across her lips. That smile was short-lived, however, temporarily replaced by shame and confusion, when the Captain addressed him with his orders.
"Aye, aye, Captain!"
Fueled by renewed motivation, a fired-up Chrys gave her a quick salute, even though she probably didn't see it. Turning to the two hulking shark-like abominations, the God of Rocks smirked.
"You were much safer in the seas, predators, for the earth is my domain, and my domain prefers sushi over live fish!"
He then charged at them both, using his Thousand Sparkling Gold through his Auric Geomancy to augment his size and body. Magical rocks and dust and stones and whatever else began swirling around Chrys, forming an earthen armor of sorts, allowing him to tackle both sharkmen brutes, one in each massive rock-armored arm.
Perhaps it was his sheer strength or maybe it was just the absurdity of the situation that caught the giants off-guard. Even as they struggled in a frenzy to try and escape Chrys, and break him down into letting them go, the armored adventurer did not relent. In one fluid motion, from his charge to his tackle, he threw all three of them, himself included, over the ship and into the sea. The sheer impact knocked both monsters out, and as Chrys found himself underneath the waves, his smile remained. Cowabunga, my dudes.

Ayna was in the thick of battle when she spotted @Chrys tackle both sharkmen into the waters, a feat she had not expected him to be able to do. The massive mountain of a man was, well, massive and strong, but two shark-like monsters at the same time? That's just too much. Guess you really are useful, Chrys. Guess I need to thank you again once this is all done.
Kicking a frenzied fishman off of her, Ayna twirled her weapon before, over, and behind her. It wasn't just to look cool. It was also to wipe away the accumulating fish blood and fish guts that may encumber the weapon in the long run. Pointing the blade of the spear at her target, she then screamed at it, which got the fishman screaming at her as well. Both Captain and monster charged at each other, though Ayna got the better of the exchange when she unexpectedly dropped down, closer to the floor, and twirled her way to piercing the monster's heel.
The Lightning Lancer of the Lament then unveiled a shard of her Storm's Eye before finishing the fishman off with a plain thrust through their neck. When a second one attacked her from behind, Ayna cleanly pulled her weapon out of the dying monster's flesh and slashed at her new attacker. Because it was merely a feint, however, the second fishman easily pulled itself away from the blade, dodging the slash. Ayna quickly followed it up with another thrust, this time at the second fishman's chest, piercing his ribs and flesh.
With a look of disdain, Ayna kicked the second fishman off of her blade, whipping the weapon in the air to get rid of the fallen fishfolk's remains. Ayna felt no mercy for her ship's invaders, only anger and hatred.
"IDIOT MAN OVERBOARD! SOMEONE GET CHRYS BACK ON THIS SHIP RIGHT NOW!"

With eyes closed, Chrys floated in the water with the two sharkmen brutes that he had tackled over @Ayna Nietzsche's ship. All three of them were unconscious, with the brutes descending faster in the depths than the armored adventurer. It seemed that despite his worries and concern, Chrys was in fact not made of rocks, and he was lighter than the monstrosities he had just taken down. Despite all this, his smile remained on his face.
In his mind's eye, his imagined reality, he saw himself watching as Ayna and @Kamala Graham, the latter not even there with them at the moment, were being cheered on by throngs of onlookers. He himself was on the sidelines, just watching the girls, his cloak hiding his armor and his hood hiding most of his face. What could not be hidden was his elation, his joy, as his companions were being celebrated. No gold can equal this moment. With a brief nod to no one in particular, he then turned around, disappearing into an alley.
"OY, YOU STUPID C<gold coins clanging against each other>!" Someone screamed at him as his face broke through the surface, the sudden influx of breathable air forcing him awake. Chrys struggled as he looked around him, only then realizing that he was still in the water, still in the process of being pulled back up onto the ship by Dolly who herself was being pulled up by Cymry with much effort. "WE'RE STILL GETTING SWAMPED BY THESE STINKY FISH PEOPLE! HELP US!"
With one giant grunt, a heave that seemed to have taken all the breath from their chest, the pirate hunter and the sea trader managed to finally pull the armored adventurer back aboard the Mizar. "Gods damn it, you're heavy! Wanna tone it down on the carbs, my man?" Dolly poked him in the face with her finger, trying to see if he was truly awake.
Suddenly, a busty member of Ayna's crew pushed her aside and immediately gave Chrys mouth-to-mouth, CPR, which he didn't really need. Pushing her off of him, Chrys wiped his lips and squinted at the lander.
"What the fucking hell was that?!"
"Ooops! My bad! I thought you needed air inside your massive muscles, teehee!" The woman immediately got up and out of there but not before giving Chrys the f-me eyes, much to his confusion. Ignoring that weird encounter, he turned to the equally confused Cymry and Dolly, giving them a quick nod before slowly getting back to his feet.
"Let's finish this then."
Chrys punched his palm, grinning from ear to ear. Time to ROCK and...just rock, I guess.
