RUINS OF VINTERGARD

A part of her had hoped that, with Szofrit capture and forced stasis, the known magitech units that had patrolled Vintergard and its surrounding areas would have also fallen out of commission—however she’d quickly learned that hadn’t been the case. The machines still lingered about the ruins and, what was worse, had seemingly begun to run amok now that their assumed handler was no longer able to communicate with them. Vintergard remained as dangerous, or perhaps more, as it had always been… except now it housed a new treasure of sorts, or rather multiples of them.

{ I can’t believe they’ve found so many cores already. }

Her voice softly echoes within the head of her companion through their telepathic comm link, almost as if the elf had stood right beside the brunette instead of twenty-five feet up ahead. It was a trick she’d first discovered out of accident and necessity… though one that Lúthien now strove to perfect little by little.

She’d scouted up ahead, leaving her friend somewhere deemed safe for the time being as Lúthien scoped their surroundings for any signs of danger. Only the usual sounds of a desolated city slowly reclaimed by nature fluttered into her ears and, after a final scan of her crimson eyes over their surroundings, she finally signaled for Ronja to move up ahead and rejoin the ranger in their new spot.

"Coast’s all clear… for now at least." Its unsettling that they’ve yet to come across any of the active units despite the time already spent traversing the place, and while a part of her hopes that their numbers have perhaps dwindled thanks to the Guild and its bounties the tenseness in her shoulders shows that Lúthien is unwilling to lower her guard any time soon.

Along with @Luthien, hovering Aid-Ling drones carefully watched over the area, quickly positioning themselves on anywhere that could remotely cover their tiny form, camouflaging in the rubris and scraps of destroyed magitech and other ruins from Vintergard.

Ronja tagged from behind, not only to stay in a safe spot while Luthien scouted ahead, but also to watch their rearguard.

She held her Skullbuster Rifle close, wary about their surroundings and waiting for the elf's confirmation before she rushed ahead, quickly and pressing her back against the hiding spot's wall, staying next to the elf and with her eyes flickering while scanning and analyizing the area in search for any magitech activity.

"All clear, confirmed. No hostile magia or traps detected." She said, pausing for a moment to glance at Luthien, noticing her tension.

Ronja leaned in, with her head tilting before she poked Luthien on her sides, trying to urge a reaction from her, before looking at the elf's face and smiling, with both her eyes clicking twice like camera lens. "You don't need to be so tense, Luthy." She said. "Focus on yourself as well, Ronja's Aid-Lings are also surveying the area." Ronja said, bumping her shoulder on Luthien, like a playful nudge.

"It will be alright."

The soft and mechanical whirring of Ronja’s little drones had long since been filtered out by her elven ears, the little noises the Aid-Lings could make having been classified as friendly within the depths of her mind long ago. They were useful little things too, able to cover a wide distance without placing either girl at risk, and as one quietly ducked behind a piece of rubble Lúthien couldn’t help but chuckle lightly in response.

Familiar steps echoed behind her, though the elf didn’t need to turn around and look to confirm who they belonged to. Lúthien felt confident enough that she could pinpoint Ronja and Yugam from the unique sounds their footsteps made, and at one point perhaps the same could’ve been true of Fiora as well.

"All clear, confirmed. No hostile magia or traps detected."
"The League’s reports made it sound like this place was utterly infested... just how much overtime have Guild members been putting into these ruins?"

Clearly a lot, considering the volume of cores that continued to be uncovered and returned back to the institute, though her thoughts were soon disrupted as the brunette saw it fit to poke the ranger on her side. "BwhaRonjaaa!" An involuntary chortle escaped her just as her hand rose to cover the spot, crimson eyes looking back with a surprised look upon catching the magia red handed just as the magia’s eyes clicked twice.

Despite the whispered complaint Lúthien couldn’t help the smile that tugged at her lips upon hearing the concern in Ronja’s voice, her shoulders visibly relaxing somewhat before the brunette bumped into her softly. The nudge was returned in kind by the elf, a soft nod of her head following to acknowledge Ronja’s words before she spoke. "You’re right, compared to the things we’ve gone through this is just a walk in the park~"

A hand reached for the crude map they’d been given back at camp, carefully stretching it on the ground before them. "So, think we’re close enough to that place now?" By now the red whistle had made quite a few modifications to it, adding missing details as Lúthien tried to flesh out the area better as they went.

Ronja leaned away when Luthien chortled, covering her lips with both of her hands while her eyes narrowed, showing she was giggling quietly under her breath, muffled by her hands. "Focus is nice, but Ronja isn't standing for being tense, no no." She waved her finger in rejection at the idea.

"Yes... The signal are still strong... Over there." Ronja pointed at the Magia Ship that was sunk into the top of a tall building- It was still a little bit far, but they could catch it in a dozen minutes if they didn't lose too much time.

Gesturing for Luthien to follow, Ronja hurried, taking cover.

"The Adventurers and the Lions are doing everything they can to wipe out this area... There is hope we will recover Vintergard at some point, after all." Ronja said, half opening her mouth before closing it, frowning when gazing at a sentry that could be spotted from afar.

"Hmm... That may be useful..." Ronja rubbed her chin, looking at the sentry and glancing at Luthien.

"Luthy, do you think you can send a gush to flip that sentry upside down? It will make Ronja's job easier." She asked, with an Aidling already taking initiative of hovering above their heads, gaining height enough to not be detected by the sentry, and trying to position itself right above it.

Her gaze followed Ronja’s finger to look at the ship off in the distance, currently resting atop a building. It was a miracle the structure hadn’t given way already, perhaps the ship’s weight wasn’t as heavy as it looked? She would’ve certainly preferred if it’s been somewhere safer, like the ground for example, but nothing they could do about it’s location now. "Alright, let’s go then."

Ronja was already on the move as the ranger lost a moment or two gathering up their map once more, the lighter steps soon following the same path the magia took before ducking into their next cover. "Not gonna lie, I’m kinda glad they’ve been so proactive about this." Less magitech enemies roaming about meant it was safer to traverse these parts now, not to mention all the magia cores of plates that their teams had recovered while attempting to regain control of the old capital and its surroundings.

The brunette had been about to say something before her mouth hung half open, earning a light frown from the elf until her ears picked up a sound in the distance. Crimson eyes quickly shifted away from Ronja to survey their surroundings once more, spotting the hovering sentry in the distance before Ronja’s muttering reached her.

"Luthy, do you think you can send a gush to flip that sentry upside down? It will make Ronja's job easier."
"You got it, one drone pancake incoming~"

A thumb’s up was given to Ronja before the blonde turned her attention back onto the machine as it stopped to scan a particular section, no sign of hesitation found on the ranger as she quietly gathered the mana around them and beseeched the wind currents to her bidding. She waited just long enough to give one of Ronja’s Aidling the opportunity to reposition itself for whatever its creator was currently planning, keeping its position in mind before a strong gust suddenly ripped onto the sentry from its left side.

It buffeted the machine and disrupted its current scan, pushing upwards against its left side and causing it to flip over before the verdant winds shifted direction once more. They swirled around the Aidling at a safe distance, before the gust slammed the turned over sentry into the ground before the magitech enemy could regain control of its flight.

A giggle escaped Ronja's lips at Luthien's wording, but soon Ronja returned to a more serene expression as her friend worked on the sentry.

Ronja's expressions were focused, and as soon as Luthien had managed to turn the sentry upside-down, the magia's eyes brimmed with a cyan ring right around her pupil, flickering as the Aidling quickly made its way down, attaching to the bottom of the sentry, that was now upside-down, and piercing magitechnological tendrils into the construct's frame.

The magia's eyes suddenly turned into a red tone, flickering in a deadly hue, one that would remind Luthien of the events from nothing much longer than a month ago.

"Access - Dragon, Mainframe. Denied."

A robotic voice escaped her lips, and for a moment, Ronja turned, looking around as if she was looking for something.

"Access - Vintergard, Area K70 Server. Accepted."

Her eyes flickered in the scarlet tone once again, just before she locked her gaze on the elf for three eerie seconds, until the redness flickered away once again, and Ronja's expressions turned completely neutral, until she finally smiled.

"Perfect, that's a great job, Luthy. You are amazing." Ronja complimented her friend, while the Aidling remained attached to the sentry, that Ronja gestured at. "Ronja acquired all the reports of that sentry regarding this area... She has a mild idea of the situation in these surroundings... And that includes the access for that ship over there!" She clasped her hands, grinning to her friend.

Her creative comment had earned the expected reaction, the giggle that momentarily filled the air between them music to her elven ears. She watched attentively as the little Aidling moved into action, never doubting the skills of its handler as Ronja got to work, as a feeling of familiarity had slowly eased in—

"Access - Dragon, Mainframe. Denied."

She suddenly felt as if someone had dumped a bucket of icy cold water over her head, the tension quickly returning to her exposed shoulders as the robotic voice filtered in through her ears. Only the leather gloves covering her hands prevented Ronja from being able to see the whitened knuckles as the ranger grasped the edge of the half-crumbled stone wall they currently used as cover as tightly as elvenly possible.

"Access - Vintergard, Area K70 Server. Accepted."

The Aidling and its work had long been forgotten as the blonde had finally willed herself to peek a glance back towards her friend. It had taken every fiber and rational brain cell within Lúthien to keep the ranger from instinctively trying to place distance between them, the scarlet hues currently coloring Ronja’s vision easily resurfacing memories that she had thought handled and buried… though she couldn’t help the involuntary flinch that crossed her face when that red gaze finally turned in her direction.

One… Two… Three…

A final flicker finally returned the newer peridot hues to Ronja’s eyes, and it wasn’t until the magia allowed a smile back onto her lips that the ranger’s lungs began working properly again. "Perfect, that's a great job, Luthy. You are amazing." A rosy hue colored her cheeks upon hearing the compliment from her friend, the words only serving to magnify the shame that had quickly began to creep into her chest. "D-Don’t mention it…" When her voice faltered the blonde tried to cover it up with a smile, though the awkward expression on her face was a far cry from the usual sunny disposition of the girl.

"Wait… you got all of its reports? Ronja, you’re fucking amazing." The initial shock that her system had received was steadily pushed down as the brunette shared the fruits of her latest work, the energy that radiated from Ronja’s excited grin as the magia clasped her hands together brightening the mood. "Alright, let’s make our way over to it then."

Ronja's eyes clicked twice at the faltering voice of her friend, leaning in confusion to see the awkward expression a bit closer, until she suddenly perked up, with a compliment that brought warmth to Ronja's cheeks, that scratched her nape and giggled sheepishly. "It is easier to do, now that they don't actually have a strong defense in their 'software'..." Ronja said, but then frowned slightly.

"But the mainframe..." Ronja muttered, closing her eyes, feeling the pang of Szofrit creeping in the back of her mind, then opening it with pursing lips and a faint head shake.

"... Well, that's a matter for another time. For now, we need to figure out what's with this strong signal over there. It could be a clue of more magia cores." Ronja urged for them to proceed, rushing ahead and making her Aidlings to move further, some even going for a bolder move and going straight to the ship in question, while others sneaked into the building it was stuck on.

"There is a total of thirty magia units in the area, according to the report. We aren't sure if they are fully functional, however, it doesn't go into these details since they can't share information that easily anymore... So some of them could be stuck, or so damaged they aren't functioning, still-" Ronja rested her back on another wall, turning to glance at Luthien, averting her eyes from the streets.

"We should be careful." She said- And as if calling for trouble, three sentries turned a corner, aiming straight a the direction of the girls.

Her eyes quickly averted when the magia leaned in to get a better look at Lúthien’s face, the last thing she wished was for her friend to worry over her even further, before the honest compliment she’d paid to her friend turned into her own savior as the magia perked up and giggled softly. "I see… so you’re hacking into their network this time around." A part of her couldn’t help but be impressed upon realizing that Ronja had found a way to turn the tables hack into their network… the tactic that had once given Szofrit an edge in battle was now being turned against the remaining machines.

"But the mainframe..."
"It’s okay, don’t push yourself too much… alright?"

A hand reached for Ronja’s upon seeing the frown on her face before Lúthien gave it a reassuring squeeze. While she wasn’t the most knowledgeable at programming the girl understood the basics and then some, and it didn’t take long for her mind to connect the dots when she thought back on Ronja’s words as the magia had been accessing their system. If the servers could provide them with the necessary information of the area around them then there was no need for Ronja to risk diving deeper.

"I hope it’s a clue then ‘cause those shelves are getting pretty full… and we both know Valen isn’t gonna be the one building more of ‘em." A faint chuckle accompanied her words as Lúthien tried to lighten the mood, though there was truth to them as the blonde gazed back to the ship they’d found. They knew what outcome they wanted to achieve for the cores, however the path to reach it was one none of them had walked before and it wasn’t a secret that they were probably already way in over their heads.

"Thirty, huh?" That was certainly a significant number of magitech enemies, especially when each one of them could be a lethal force to be reckoned with. "Let’s hope that’s an old number and someone forgot to update the report."

She followed the brunette close as they moved closer towards the building, watching as the Aidlings pushed closer still as some began flying up straight towards the ship. Despite her wishful thinking Lúthien remained sharp and alert to their surroundings, and as the pair ducked behind another wall for cover she barely caught a faint noise.

”... some of them could be stuck, or so damaged they aren't functioning, still—”
"Wait—you hear that?"

At first she’d thought the sound to simply be Ronja’s smaller droids, the whirring noises her ears could pick up not too dissimilar to theirs, at least until Lúthien realized the direction it came from was opposite to the path Ronja’s Aidlings had taken. "We should be careful." She only had enough time to mod in agreement before the shape of three sentries appeared as the magitech units rounded a corner, a whispered expletive slipping past the ranger’s lips before her hands searched for the biggest stone within her grasp that Lúthien could find.

She held it firmly as her brows furrowed in concentration, quietly gathering up astral energy before infusing the mana onto the aged and worn out stone brick Lúthien held. A part of her wasn’t even sure her plan would work, though there was little time to ponder the pros and cons of it when the three machines began flying in the direction of the girls. Without missing a bit the blonde wound up her arm the very second she felt the weight of the brick lighten within her grip, before pitching it as far away as possible in the opposite direction of where they were hiding at.

Ronja blinked, looking up at Luthien and smiling warmly at her reassurance. Yes, she didn't need to push herself too much, it was what she had told to many others she cared for, it would be hypocrital to think she should act any differently from this.

"Ronja is sure he won't- also, about that. From now and on, Ronja eats and drinks first, then you do." She pointed out, in a tone that made it sound serious rather than a mere joke. "Ronja does hope this is an old number... But truly, we can deal with them if we take them individually... Let's avoid it though, this is a job for the Lions and the Adventurers." Ronja muttered, and as soon as she spoke, Luthien warned them about an incoming danger, making the magia turn around surprised.

The sentries seemed relentless at their path, but as soon as the stone was sent flying, they halted their movements, turning around and chasing the foreign object relentlessly.

"Perfect, let's hurry!"

Ronja grinned at Luthien, quickly taking her by the hand and tugging her toward the building, getting into the broken entrance and finally taking cover in the dimlighted room that place had to offer.

Its state was of completely abandonment, as usual, with dust and rubble covering the first floor. There was signs of the structure being mildly compromised, which was concerning.

"Staying here won't be safe if a serious fight break out... Let's be careful." Ronja said.

She’d been forced to swallow back an argument as the sentries had come into view, only able to shake her head as Ronja stated she’d be the first to try anything edible a particular green-haired MIT researcher brought to them in the future. The brick sailed through the air with surprising ease, traveling farther than it should’ve been physically possible, before finally clattering as it smacked into another ruined wall.

"Yes, it worked!"
"Perfect, let's hurry!"

Their excited whispers filled the air as the three magitech units quickly changed their flight path towards the source of the disturbance, before the magia quickly took a hold of Lúthien’s hand and tugged teh ranger straight into the abandoned building. A wooden door had long since fallen victim to the elements as it had begun to rot away, and the girls were able to sneak inside through the gap created by missing planks and chunks of it.

"Hopefully none of those things have snuck in here," It took a few moments before her eyes adjusted to the dimly lit interior, a gloved finger leaving a visible trail as it disturbed the dust resting on a rundown piece of furniture. "I’ve seen sturdier Jenga towers."

A nod was given when Ronja mentioned being careful, before light steps carried the elf further into the room as her gaze swept over its contents. "The ship’s on the roof, if we’re lucky maybe the stairs leading up haven’t crumbled to dust yet..."

"Ronja wouldn't count on it, but she hopes as well..." Ronja said, then letting out a brief chuckle at Luthien's comparison. "Same for Ronja. But it is alright, buildings never fall off without some 'warning', it will crack and snap before it actually falls by its own weight." She explained, not being particularly fond of tracing a finger on the dust herself.

She followed along, pushing further and reaching for a door that by a miracle seemed untouched, a good sign if they wished to find a way up that wasn't destroyed into pieces. "Ronja is sure we will-" As soon as she opened the door, sunlight invaded the room, with rubbles of what used to be stairs and walls scattered on the ground.

Ronja pursed her lips, looking up and seeing the bottom of the ship.

"Do you know how to climb, Luthy?" She peered down to her friend.

"Ronja thinks we will need to... Unless we should risk flying up there. We may be spotted if we aren't sure about the position of other sentries." Ronja said.

"Right… hopefully this one gives us plenty of warnings if it decides to buckle." She wasn’t a demolition expert, though there was truth to the words Ronja spoke. Buildings definitely creaked and loudly complained before they finally succumbed to ill placed weight, what worried Lúthien was not knowing how much time they’d have to get to safety before it actually crumbled… especially with the unplanned addition of one large ship at the very roof of this one.

After a momentary struggle with a rusted door knob the ranger had finally managed to pull the stubborn door open, only to frown upon noticing the leftover contents within. "Found the janitor’s closet." The worn broom with its rotten wooden pole, long snapped in half, and the wooden bucket in equal or worse conditions wouldn’t have been of much use if they actually wanted to tidy up the place.

"Ronja is sure we will—"

"Mmm? Here’s hoping you had better luck—" She peered back towards the magia as her words suddenly stopped, the sound of another door being pushed open reaching her ears shortly before a ray of sunlight invaded their room. It caused Lúthien to squint her eyes as she gazed away for a few seconds, carefully making her way over to Ronja, before finally peering in as she stood beside the brunette. "Oh."

So much for stairs.

"Do you know how to climb, Luthy?"
"K-Kinda…?"

Granted, the only rock climbing she’d done before TerraSphere had been of the safe variety—indoors and with mats on the floor in case anyone going up slipped and fell. Certain expeditions she’d joined during her time with the League had caused her to go into more rocky and dangerous terrain, yes, but nothing had required a climb of such a vertical nature like this.

It didn’t help that part of the belly of the ship was now in view, mocking the girls.

"Flying all the way up is prooobably a bad idea," Especially if more of those drones were around, the aeromancers would’ve been at a terrible disadvantage if they engaged on an aerial combat with the sentries… hell, the most stable “flying” Lúthien had been able to master so far was technically just really long hops. "... but maybe if we aim for that opening we can sneak into the next floor?"

A hand pointed upwards to show Ronja the spot she’d noticed, and with some luck perhaps this building had more than one single way to reach the rooftop…?

"Better luck is a bit--" Ronja smiled awkwardly, pointing at the rubbles and the fallen stairs that were in obvious sight. Pretty much everything that shouldn't have happened, happened.

The idea of flying all the way up was instantly disconsidered. It was way too risky, especially when they were already too far into Vintergard. The mention of the opening, however, sounded like their salvation.

"You are right..." Ronja hummed, tapping her ankles together and making her jet boots appear as she took a few steps back. "Hop on and hold on tight, Luthy, this will be as quick as Ronja can pull off."

As soon as her friend was ready, the magia would set her jets up, blasting herself off to the broken opening, managing to slip into the higher floor and braking abruptly when they landed before a sight that froze Ronja's heart: An Overseer, damaged and flipped upside down, with its gigantic magitech tendrils stretching all the way to the upper floors, and the large vault at the bottom of the ship. The floors above it were broken, signing it fell from the ship upon impact and caused the mess they were witnessing at the moment.

Ronja's eyes clicked, with her heart ticking rapidly until she finally calmed down, seeing the magia machinery didn't react.

"Deactivated..." Her body relaxed.

"You are right..." She couldn’t help the light smile that pulled at the corners of her lips when Ronja agreed with her quickly thought up idea, watching as the magia tapped her ankles together before her signature jet boots appeared.

"Hop on and hold on tight, Luthy, this will be as quick as Ronja can pull off."
"I’ll give us a lil’ boost too."

As if on cue the wind begins to softly swirl around Ronja’s feet before a pair of translucent verdant wings appear on her ankles. She climbs onto Ronja’s back, her arms wrapping around the brunette’s shoulders to keep her secure, and before long the pair is blasting through the air in the direction of the makeshift opening. Their landing is rough and shaky, perhaps caused by a miscalculation from Lúthien’s own magic combined with Ronja’s technology, but any thought regarding that soon dissipates as her gaze finally realizes they’re not alone on this floor.

"Fuck—!"

Static instinctively builds up around the girls upon spotting the enemy, before a moment’s thought sheds some clarity and somewhat good news to them. "Deactivated..." She breathes a sigh of relief upon hearing Ronja confirm what she’d begun to suspect, feeling the magia’s shoulders relax before the ranger finally loosens her grip and stands on her own two feet once more.

"Damn, anything else wanted to burst into this place?" Not only did it have a massive ship crashland into its roof, but apparently it’d been carrying a giant stowaway as it had done so too. Whoever had designed the place was clearly a master at their craft, or maybe the building had gotten extremely lucky all this time? "I'm surprised it didn’t crumble after all of that."

Ronja released a long sigh, feeling her friend getting off hed back and glancing at the elf with a concerned expression. "Bringing a building down is much harder than one may think. Especially these medieval-esque architecture that is structural for most of part." She explained.

"Still..." She peered around, shuddering once again at the sight of the Overseer. "This means we will need to be extra cautious." Ronja said, turning to look at Luthien.

"If anything, at least we should be able to climb or fly with more freedom to reach the vault. It is pretty wide too, so we can't miss it." Ronja gestured all the way up to the ship, that patiently awaited for them to explore it.

Regardless of the case, Ronja was quick to summon a dozen of spider-looking constructs, that crawled around and eventually attached to the building's walls, more in specific to the windows and the doors, or anywhere that an enemy could sneak behind them.

"This should give us some alarm so we will have time to react if someone or something tries anything funny."

"Really?" She wasn’t exactly knowledgeable in medieval architecture and the like though, considering some of their ruined buildings still remained in their reality to this day, perhaps she shouldn’t have been surprised that they were sturdier than she’d imagined. "... that’s actually kinda cool."

A nod of agreement was given to the magia before Lúthien watched as Ronja worked her unique skill, the dozen of little spiderlings now scurrying through the floor something that probably would’ve caused a few to shriek. She couldn’t help the shiver that ran along her spine, watching so many spindly legs moving in all directions wasn’t exactly a comfortable sight, but she’d been around Ronja’s magical constructs enough that they didn’t outright creep the ranger out.

"Hopefully we’ll be in and out before anything else notices we’re here." The wind gathered around her feet as the verdant ethereal wings reappeared and, after a well aimed hop, the ranger soon found herself airborne… somewhat. "W-Whoa! Gosh, I swear you make this look so easy…"

It took a few moments for Lúthien to get the hang of this new method of traveling, making sure she didn't come too close to any of the tendrils that still stretched out of the Overseer, as she made her way towards the spaceship that awaited them.

Ronja giggled, looking at Luthien and smiling faintly. "Does she? Because it isn't easy at all... It has its troubles, and difficulties. Handling this many constructs can be tough." She said, taking a couple steps right behind Luthien, waiting for the elf to step in to climb first, and following right behind carefully. She took a firm grasp and pulled herself up, using her magnetism to cheat her way upwards while she took a 'step' at a time.

It took about a minute to actually get to the top without being too hasty. As soon as they got high enough, Ronja waited Luthien to take the first step into the ship, reaching her hand and asking for a small help from her friend before finally getting into the flying machine.

"Phew... Let's see..." Ronja said, peering into the interior.

It was chaotic, with its internal magitech circuits and installations poking out of the thick frame it had, followed by a handful of magia constructs such as sentries laying around in a partially destructed state.

The presence of the constructs made Ronja wary for a moment, but a shimmering object caught her attention.

"A core!" She pointed at it, approaching it quickly and taking a gentle hold of it, tracing her finger on it. "Excuse Ronja... But you are safe now..." She said, smiling warmly when noticing it was still active, and then peering up at a half-open door, and a faint blue-ish glow hinting there were more in it...

And as she pulled it open...

FwBoD2DaAAEGjGp

A surprising, and initially fearsome sight made Ronja gasp and take a step back.

A female frame, with exposed biomagitechnological components poking out of her body and painted with 'black blood', having her arms wrapped weakly around about three magia cores, while a couple others were fallen by her feet.

She seemed immobile, with limp body and head, and a trail of black stain that ran down from her eyes to her cheek, like dry tears.

In her, a red glow ticked. Once. Twice. Thrice. And so on... However, so faint.

Ronja remained frozen for a moment, unsure of how to act right away, considering it was potentially a rogue magia.

"You handle them all like a pro though~" The compliment was genuine as the elf found her balance in this new way of ‘traveling’, it was already hard enough to concentrate her mind to make this work—Lúthien couldn’t imagine how disastrous things would go if she also had to worry and supply energy to all the other constructs that Ronja had deployed while making their way towards the top of the ship.

Her hand instinctively reached out towards Ronja once the elf was certain the inside was clear of danger, hemping the brunette magia come on-board the now seemingly abandoned and forgotten ship. "I wonder how long it’s been since this crashed here…" Judging by first glances and its surroundings probably quite a while, though if she’d learned one thing was that looks could always be deceiving.

She continues to keep an eye out for their safety, trusting the more detailed exploration and investigation to Ronja instead, when something shimmering catches the corner of her eye. "A core!" Her friend was the first to reach it, the excited exclamation causing a faint chuckle to escape her lips.

"This one sure picked quite the place to hide at, huh?" A light sprinkle of humor was the signature coping mechanism of the island, and it made the recollection of these cores a bit easier to handle in her mind. "Hey… you think it rolled out of that room?"

Her eyes shifted to the faint blue glow that seemed to come from a half-open room, nodding in its direction before remaining alert and attentive as the magia took steps towards it. She was by Ronja’s side the moment a sharp gasp left the tinkerer. "Ronja stay back—!" Practiced hand movements had caused her bow and quiver to materialize in a second, her hand reaching for one of her arrows and nocking it back before she aimed right into the room.

The sight of the magitech body caused Lúthien to pause for a moment, at first thinking they might’ve come across another player, before a detailed look of it confirmed the body was currently limp and unmoving. Black matter had oozed all around it, leaving tear-like streaks on her cheeks and coating other parts of her body.

With no immediate danger in sight the ranger slowly lowered her bow into a relaxed position, though still ready should the need of it arise. "Was she… collecting them?" Three magia cores were still weakly held against the frame’s chest, with others scattered on the floor around her.

Tick… Tick… Tick… The soft ticking continued to quietly echo within her ears, the slow but constant sound unsettling the ranger as her eyes took notice of the red glow that shone through certain components of her body.

"I-It sure did..." Ronja nodded, looking at the unconscious magia with a frown, taking a step away instinctively when Luthien told her to stay back, though all the alarming situation seemed to come in vain, considering the magia didn't even budge a movement.

Her eyes flickered, clicking and retracting as she tried to analyze the girl from afar. "It... Seems like it? Ronja isn't sure, but the way she was holding these cores..." Ronja muttered, looking at the composition of the situation as a whole. The state of the girl, the way she held the cores, with some of them falling aside despite her efforts before she had fallen into unconsciousness. It felt strangely- "... Sad..." She frowned. "... Apparently she is collecting those, but why does she look so sad?" She wondered.

Ronja took a couple steps closer, seeing that the elf had just relaxed, and carefully reaching toward the frame of the magia.

Synthetic skin to synthetic skin, the touch was somewhat cold coming from the other. "There is no more energy running across her body... She probably doesn't have any energy left, and inside of this ship, it is nearly impossible for her emergency recharge to do its job well enough for her to have any capacity of leaving this ship, making her fall into emergency recharge again..." Ronja looked at Luthien.

"... Ronja thinks she is trapped in this ship."
