Unfolding the Unknown
There must be a way to find out what creature is before us - The brave Starcalled considered.

@Yugam, marching forward, took some blood out of the poor helpless man, with the leak coming out just as normal, albeit too cold and weakly. The heart was beating weak, no wonder the man looked so pale and didn't respond even with the wound growing on him.

@Luthien felt the increasing despair growing in the room, but... It was coming from far more people than the group had. A glance to the side proved more victims like the man were around there- But as soon as @Moonsong and @Nymoria charged in reckless abandon toward the thing in the end of the room, the elf could feel an anger growing.

@Zelrius marched forward as well, with his flames lighting the path, approaching the two flames that brimmed in the end of the great hall. The dimlight began bathing the scales of the beast, that showed to be even more enormous than anticipated. The girls attacks didn't make it even flinch with the hit echoing muffled through the room.

From afar, @Cain Darlite, as soon as he could see the creature in its entirety, along with the knowledge the brave Starcalled acquired, he could bring the truth about that ancient monstruosity. Its gaze nearly met his, but the man instinctively avoided it.

It was too late for the two women in the Vanguard, however...

(EX) BASILISK, THE ETERNAL GAZER

❰ 1500 / 1500 ❱
❰ 9672 / 10000 ❱

Cycle 1 - Interjection!

Manaover. The high density of mana increased the power of the Eternal Gazer.

Curse of Eternity. A mere glimpse of the Eternal Gazer's eyes is enough to trigger the curse it wields.
  • Anyone that attacks the Eternal Gazer directly must make a DC 130 Will Save. Upon failure, they gain 1 stack of Curse of Eternity + 1 extra stack for every 20 points below the Save Value.
  • One may decide to attack glancing partially through reflections or peripheral vision, doing it with a -30 roll penalty. They must make a DC 100 Will Save instead. Upon failure, they gain 1 stack of Curse of Eternity + 1 extra stack for every 20 points below the Save Value.
  • It is also possible to try to attack it without looking at all, doing so with a -60 roll penalty, but not needing to do any Will Save.
  • During the Eternal Gaze's Cycle, it may actively use its cursed gaze, affecting targets regardless of their sight.
To clean the Curse of Eternity, one may heal or buff an ally and make a Support Mastery Check against a DC 70 to clean 1 stack + 1 extra stack for every 20 points above the DC value. If you are using Spirit Magic as the Support Mastery Check, you may add your Weapon Bonus to the Check.

For every 1 stack of Curse of Eternity, there is a 10% chance of your character being unable to act, being stuck in a catatonic state where they relive several moments of their past and the past of the Eternal Gazer's victims. Including their Real Life memories.

If you end the Cycle with 5 stacks, your character gets permanently stuck on it until cured with a DC 200 Support Mastery Check or become dead. Both OOC and IC wise they are considered 'out of combat'.

Condition DC of the Basilisk, for those using Homebrew, is 80.

Wendel's attention was turned to a man laying on a pillar nearby. As was the norm in the distorted magi's life, she was being pulled whichever way by things she couldn't understand. One day a thread, the other a dream, and today a shadow.

Usually, the shadows appeared whenever her chances of fully entering Second Order status drew close. This was different... or was it? Considering the azure gaze of the beast that emerged from the dark, limits may be pushed yet again.

"Ohhh, look at them... they are alive and stuck there. Magi Heart is here to save you! Don't move.. eh? Gee whiz I guess you can't *giggle*. Here I..."

Her mad eye'd intent was met by the gaze of the ancient beast. The astral sense she was still developing was uncertain of what to decern. Unlike other astral, Magi's came to her in wildly unpredictable ways. Usually with results that led to worse situations rather than better. The chaotic mind of a dissonant surely didn't help her mastery of this.

So Wendel didn't bother and let others deal with the complexities. She was here to kill it, then kill the trapped people, then leave for the necessary evil that was money.

Whatever she felt here was awash in both her own desired outcomes and the monsters opposing far stronger abyssal presence. Gertrud emerged as she turned her attention entirely to the monster and as if all alone with it for but a moment made the barrage of shots that collided with its blackened flesh.

The creature seems unphased by the dark magic of something so immature...

This was surely not a normal Basilisk.

As Nyancy let a red flag phrase slip from her lips, suddenly the group noticed they weren't alone.

"Ahhh, craps. Shoulda kept my big mouth shut. Well, let's see what we got hea."

With some of the others attacking the creature, Nyancy decided to do the same.

"Let's see if this woyks... NEKOJITA!"

Nyancy's water blade formed in her hand. Turning away from the monster, Nyancy spun the blade created a flat pool of floating water like a mirror. Looking at the reflection, Nyancy could see the creature.

"Well, hopefully, it can't look at me through the watah ah whateva."

Moving her blade into a reverse grip, Nyancy thursted backwards letting loose a jet stream of freezing water at the creature. Unfortunately, as she made the attack, Nyancy's eyes met the beasts...

The oppressive gaze of the creature was merciless. Trailing into the surface of @Magi Heart's mind, causing her to see the world moving in slow motion for a second, enough to flash memories of her past self, a hopeful and sweet girl, naive perhaps, and still...

@Nymoria didn't have the same luck, having a memory rush through her mind, recent ones of her fight with a cute boy a man, with a dissonant aberration that filled her with thrill... Would the fight before her create a similar memory? Perhaps... But for now, all she bore with was the echoes from the past crawling into her skull, pricking and drowning her further.

For @Nyancy was no different, being brought back to years and years ago, venturing to become a Brisshal Completionist along with two interesting fellows and old friends that she never met again, a nice memory... Especially compared to the crushing one of having one of her many attempts to get approval for her Character Designs, with a bothersome customer that was never satisfied!

Seeing her fellow Starcalled in danger, @Aloe prayed, calling for an answer... a chance... a...

"Fue?" The girl blinked, looking around puzzled. "Litty?" She muttered.

The starry sphere flickered, making the woman frown, then looking at the girl. "Are you alright?"

"Hmm mhm-!" The girl answered with a few nods, however it didn't seem to be directed to the woman. "Ooooh, really?!" Her eyes sparkled.

"What are you-"

"Aloe Aloe Miracleeeeee-!" She beamed.

A beam of light, coming out of nowhere, in particular, reached Aloe's hands, leaving nothing behind but a starry stone, glowy and pulsing with power. The power to change. The power of a Goddess.

"..."

Noticing the glare of the woman, the girl's lovely pose faltered, and she slowly calmed down. "S-Sorry-"

"It is alright, I'm glad you are enjoying it enough to yell the call of the Starcalled." The woman said, managing to recover control of the astral sphere, glaring down at the one rogue star and squinting at it. "And so, with the ferocious attacks of the four ladies staggered the powerful beast... The Eternal Gazer, however, would never take such a thing lightly..."

A piercing attack from the reckless @Nymoria sank deep into the creature's scales, making it growl, yet, keeping its patience for the right opportunity.

The powerful barrage of dark magic struck its carapace, disrupting its powers for a moment with an unwieldy dissonance @Magi Heart carried, enough to make it give attention to the pinkette.

The freezing, potent jet of water pushed the gaze of the creature away for a moment, going straight for its face and making it tilt its head slightly.

And finally, the dare of the woman-

"Let's go. You're my prey now."

The beast rumbled, shifting its gaze intently at the 'predator'. Weak, pathetic, hidden behind layers and layers of metal drained from Mother Nature. Bare and disarmed, would be as dangerous as a fly, and the Eternal Gazer wasn't going to ignore her transgression.

Its glare echoed in her mind, pushing her to remember the recent death of her loved one, yet, she managed to keep it superficial.

However, it was enough for it to find an opening, pouncing and widening its mouth, filled with endless jaws that soon tried to destroy the woman in a crushing bite, swinging her like a ragdoll before tossing her upwards.

The nearby Starcalled could see their ally being sent flying toward the ceiling, slamming her back against it and leaving her breathless for a second, with rumbles and dust falling from the top.

As quickly as the woman was sent upwards, the Gazer shifted its body in a spin, sweeping its enormous tail to strike @Zelrius, then @Nymoria, and finally @Nyancy, dragging the three of them in a powerful strike that lifted them off the ground just in time to catch @Moonsong's fall, hitting her before it slammed its tail against the floor, sending the four Starcalled in an impact against the hard surface.

  • During the Eternal Gaze's Cycle, it may actively use its cursed gaze, affecting targets regardless of their sight.

"-Basilisk! The Eternal Gazer!"

The answer divined, and the truth elucidated from the thousand futures shattered by the observer's insight, Cain took one step forward and diverged from all previous possibilities. The Battle-Banner of Embers Fallen cut a dark swath through the azure light, the contorted haft drinking greedily of cold radiance as the Flagbearer of Miracles marched towards the rampaging beast and cast his gaze across the warfront properly.

The Lunar Melody's celestial claymore shattered within the jaws of the Basilisk, magical shards digging deeply into the gums of the beast. Flitting in the echoes of such chaos, the Starfallen Savior unleashed the deluge of dark bolts that she had spent an eternity honing, while the Lion-Faced Valiant brought the concentrated essence of a waterfall upon the beast. Rainbow hues shone in the scattered mist, and yet in the aftermath of the blow, it was @Nyancy who seemed to have become frozen, caught in the gaze of the beast. And moments later, they were all scattered by a sweeping of the monster's tail.

"A terrible creature indeed, but one whose strength matches not the ferocity of even common slimodiles!"

Cain drove his flagstaff into the ground with a dissonant chime, the astral banner unfurling. Twas not stars that lit up their surroundings though, nay. Twas moonlight, pale and blinding, casting an alabaster hue that washed out the magnetic pull of the Basilisk's gaze.

"Wrench out its eyes, warriors, and it'll offer no more threat than a sentient sandbag!"

And for those who yet to have deeds ascribed to their names, a strength began to bud, a hot strength that only seemed to rise up further and further as Moonsong rose up from the triple combo, armor dented but will unbroken. As Magi Heart continued to dance from shadow to shadow, releasing a stream of profane spells that only seemed to ramp up further in strength. As Zelrius's flames expanded, the infernal cowl fueling the reckless path that he immolated himself upon.

What was the nature of the Moon, except to grow brighter in response to the Sun?

What was the purpose of the future, except to surpass the past?

"So long as this flag stands tall, fear not the echoes of your memories!"

A savage snarl rippled out, the prelude to a warsong.

"And let this mimicry of Eternity be effaced by your Starlight!"

Unknown words stumbled from her lips as elven eyes tried to piece the clues on the room together, the origin of it unknown to the elf but it seemed to be just what the Flagbearer needed. For a few moments the elf watched the man perform his magic, before a shift in the room had her eyes turn away and scan her companions. A feeling of dread seemed to stubbornly cling onto her shoulders, causing her eyes to narrow before she finally noticed the other victims scattered about the dimly lit room.

"There’s others… if this all of the missing people—" Words cut short as the commotion up ahead caused Lúthien to glance in the direction of Moonsong and Nymoria, watching as the creature remained still and unflinching even after the assault… though it was becoming irritated with every passing moment, that much she could sense. "Yeah, that thing’s not happy to have us here."

She reached for the arrows on her quiver just as her violin was retrieved from the UI inventory, snapping the instrument into its combat configuration before nocking both arrows against its bowstring. The archer took a slow deep breath as she leveled her bow, holding it for a few seconds while her eyes took proper aim of the beast, even as magic began to coalesce onto the metal tips of her arrows. They glowed a bright blue just as the temperature around the elf seemed to drop a couple of degrees in response, before the words of Cain invigorated her magic and helped steel the blonde’s resolve.

"So long as this flag stands tall, fear not the echoes of your memories! Let this mimicry of Eternity be effaced by your Starlight!"

A frosty trail marked the flight path of her arrows as Lúthien released them, a soft exhale escaping her lips and condensing in front of the ranger. They found purchase in their target, a small flurry of snow echoing from each arrow tip, before the ice began to spread across the surface of the basilisk. Lúthien had meant to look away the second her arrows landed, but the elf was too slow as the blazing azure gaze of the creature snapped onto her own for a few split seconds—more than enough to trigger its ability—before the creature was soon glancing away and onto the next player that harassed it.

Something descended and Aloe received it. If anyone saw this occurrence one could only imagine it'd be like a UFO sighting. The moment was over.

"Hm~?

Aloe had felt a tug on her wrist during her trance and had turned to see @Luthien looking a little shy. Was she doing okay? Aloe now wondered as she once again remembered her time on The Wall(tm). She remembered little Meriam and Mai, who helped her and in turn made her realize that while yes, she was The Goddess of Victory (this much was obvious), Aloe was ALSO 'The World's Big Sister'. How could she have forgotten such an important fact?!

"Hmhm~ <3"

Aloe found Luthien firing arrows and closed the ground that had opened between them with a skip that ended in a light glomp as Aloe placed both of her hands on one of the elf's shoulders and gave a tender reassuring little squeeze.

"Everything's going to be just fine~! Just breathe~! Victory in~ Victory out~! ~~~And after that~ we move forward~! Together~! V~ V~ Victory~! And if you get stuck~! I'm here~! That's right~! Leave everything to me, your big sis~! Because I'm the world's big sister~ <3 ~Hehehe~"

It was pure delusion, but Aloe was rocking it as she stepped forwards and manifested her Golden Aloe Die Rod with a twirl. Aloe's wings spread once more as her halo spun emitting a twinkly light, pulling in energy, gradually, more and more, toward her core and outward toward The Aloe Rod. Where the die would usually sit, sat the stone she had received which soon threatened to switch the room's settings from dark mode to light mode. Aloe closed her eyes and felt herself expand across the cosmos of the aloe aloe universe.

"MARK NOW THE FEELINGS OF NINE~! ~ ECLIPSE ALL POSIBILITES~ AND OPEN THE DESIRED ROUTE~! THE WORLD IS ALOE THE ALOE IS I~! SO I SAY~!"

Aloe took a big breath...

Yu didn't look peer into the frozen man's blood long enough to inflict himself with a Blood Echo. The giant fire-breathing lizard lighting the room up with blue flames had all his focus for the moment. The rest of the party was already on the move, arrows of frost sailing through the air, propelled by Luthien's bow.

A basilisk, as Cain would identify it. Perfect, then Yu knew how to kill it. In Greek mythology, Perseus used a shield polished to a mirror sheen to reflect Medusa's gaze and use her own power against her. Well, this wasn't quite a Gorgon, and Yu didn't have a shiny shield, but he had a sword, and the basilisk had eyes.

Yu ducked his head down, eyes, fixed on the basilisk's feet as he dashed dashed forward to join the frontline. The Hunter saw a flash of red hair, passing by Zelrius as he leapt into the air, checking from his periphery that he was flying towards the basilisk's face. The raven-haired man slammed into the basilisk's face, a hand grasping the strange nasal horn as he delivered a slash to the thing's eye.

The small faint glow did little to give them too much information, other than its scaled body and wide, arching jaws. Zelrius watched as the attacks bounced off of it, scratching but making it hardly wince in pain. This was bad, they were way in over their head. Or certainly, the redhead was. He could hear the others' voices but couldn't quite make out the exact words in the clamor. Nyancy and Aloe speaking to each other, and to the boss. Magi with some small laugh and her own comment. "Hey! I -"

His words were cut short, the way that Moonsong was hit, and sent airborne and then its tail followed. His arms crossed over his head defensively, and slammed into the stone ground. Groaning out in intense pain. His heart was thumping, ears were ringing. They needed to leave here - they weren't going to survive this.

But all they could do was try.

The man summoned his courage, fighting back the thoughts of doubt and getting back onto his feet. Arms bent, drawing the volcanic swords that were on either of his hips. Luthien would get to see the weaponry she helped find the ore for. A wave of fire was sent through both of them, relighting the area around the man in his hellish flame. If even a small girl like @Aloe could stand against the terrifying Bassilisk that Cain had identified it as, then so could Zelrius.

A flash of darkness and blood, Yugam rushing past him. Moonsong hit and injured. These two were his targets. He needed to vocalize that courage, to give it to the others. If he couldn't hit and take hits like they could, he could be their rock. Stand behind them and give them stability. He breathed in, mustering the power of his voice.

ZelTextShow2.png

His shout oscillated with the power of Harmonic magic. A command emboldened by his fire, called from the center of his chest at the two in question. Taking a deep, exhausted breath. Hopefully that wouldn't make them cringe up too hard.

"-Basilisk! The Eternal Gazer!" That answer was enough for Moonsong to sync Cain's Divination with hers, enabling her to peek into the immediate future, including where the Basilisk managed to catch her off guard and hurt her badly. Minimizing the damage, the brunette quickly conjured another set of magical armor on top of her current one, absorbing most damage of the savage bites before getting thrown upwards and slammed back downwards.

That was a deadly force. A ton, maybe two? Certainly would have crushed a normal person into a mush.

"That hurts," She grunted, getting up from the tail smash attack, before showing a manic grin to the Basilisk. "Not really, actually." It looks like she got the beast's feeling hurt with that taunt. Nothing personal, but she had to bring its attention away from her comrades.

She didn't even bother avoiding its gaze. The sudden flash of memory of her loved one dying in her hands did surprise her for a moment, but the woman wasn't going to have the beast satisfaction of trapping someone inside their nightmare.

Instead, her burning eyes looked straight into the pair of blue flames while walking sideways as if challenging the Basilisk to a staring contest, trying to bait it charging toward the nearest pillar.

The battle songstress hummed a melody, calling her starforged claymore to reform back in her hands, fire running through it by the command of Zelrius. "As time, time for the moon night~" She sang, preparing to dodge out of its way and counterattacking when the Basilisk come to her.

She'd managed to sneak up, and get a strike in on the thing - her entire body feeling like lead while doing so, but that wasn't the point. She'd just begun to celebrate her successful strike, when a shift in the creature caught her attention - and then her torso.

Fwoomp. She felt herself hit the nearby pillar, the shock of it pushing the air from her lungs as she felt herself slide to the ground. The groan that escaped her spoke of the pain, and annoyance, that she felt in response to the tail sweep that the creature had managed.

Ow...ohkay holy shit that hurt...asshole.

Nymoria rolled to her feet, nodding towards one of the other players (@Cain Darlite) as she felt something akin to magic roll over her. Turning back to the creature, she considered her options. Something had overcome her, taken over her senses. Someone said something about the eyes...basilisk?

With no other ideas, she decided to treat it as such - closing her eyes and letting her ears guide her towards the creature. She moved slowly at first, her senses reaching out and trying to locate where everyone stood. The javelin held off to her side, her right hand up and in front of her to feel for anything in her path.

It didn't take long for something to come before her, and as she felt something akin to scales, she decided this was as good as any chance.

I hope you're not one of my friends...

With the whispered words, she lashed out with the javelin, bringing it up and around in an overhead arc as she slammed the tip into whatever was in front of her, hoping she'd managed to find her mark.

For a moment the barrage of magic slowed. Her single instinctual objective of eliminating the monstrous lizard stalled. The pillar she had shadow stepped to now behind her as images came to her. She saw her past self again. Not in the form of an annoying sprite but more akin to the shape that occurs in her deepest subconscious dreams. The her that called herself Wendy and lived in a world called Earth, not the digital hellscape that is Terrasphere.

Gee whiz.
Do you think I don't know what I was?

...was that West Oaks?

"-Basilisk! The Eternal Gazer!"

The Flagbearer of Miracles had shouted the name with bravado, his voice ringing throughout the dark chamber. Time began to move again as Magi's wild-eyed stare turned to a squint and a crooked smile.

"Thanks so much Godzilla-kun for the reminder of why I should shoot you dead! Dead! Dead! Hahahahahah! Goodbye, my favorite dinosaur!"

Wendel ran towards the monster. Its attempt to slow her failed, rather it had encouraged the dissonant magi to show such disgusting memories of weakness. Its eyes now having seemingly no effect. Its gaze sought to remind her of the poor dreamer that barely could fire her starting bow and died in a pitiful pile of spider hair?

This Magi would show it how she could use hers!

Through dissonant instinct and astral sense, the Dark Heart resumed her relentless aggression. Swinging Gertrud to her side she reached into her dissonance and drove out her grudge. The obsidian curved staff's edges lit into black flame. A shadow step into a twirl past the large body of the beast as she brought the enflamed weapon's edge past it. Causing a long horizontal magic streak into its scaled hide. As she passed she twisted back and fired at the purplish scar she cut.

Like rubbing salt into a wound.

"What tha heck is all this? Ah craps I ain't dead am I?"

A moment after Nyancy's eyes caught the basilisk's, she was suddenly awash in old memories. Brisshal forest, cat naps, and even some from the real world. It was all very disorienting. Then without warning she was back.

"Huh? I'm back? Guess I'm alive! Not sho what happened but thanks tah you guys that brought me outta it."

Unfortunately, an instant later Nyancy met the business end of the basilisk's tail knocking her down.

"Jeez, talk aboutah joyk! Alright, ya wanna play rough? Let's play rough! Hero swordsman don't need tah to use theyah eyes anyway!"

Closing her eyes, Nyancy concentrated honing in her other senses. The sound of the basilisk's movement, it's breath, the smell of its body. Crouching down, Nyancy readied herself.

Gotta wait until the time's right.... not yet... not.... NOW!

"Neko Mo Shakushi Mo!

Conjuring a blade of lighting, eyes shut tight, Nyancy struck out at the basilisk.

Unfolding the Unknown
@Cain Darlite's call announced the true nature of the ancient beast, calling forth the order, the objective: To disrupt it, to cease its sight, and to make it weak and pathetic just like any creature from the bottom of the food chain. His flag rose, trying to inspire the allies along with @Zelrius, who encouraged his allies with a fierce and commanding shout, raising the spirits of the brave Starcalled.

@Luthien's freezing arrows brought chills into the battlefield, prickling the sweaty skins of the fighters of the vanguard, who exerted their strength to overcome the fiend before them, that slowed down as it was pierced with the cold and sharp arrows. @Yugam's blade slashed dangerously close to the eye of the beast, nearly blinding it and leaving a long slice trail on its face, that almost cost an arm if it wasn't for the fact the creature had been slowed down by the elf's magic.

@Magi Heart's magic, filled with rage, scorched across the creature's scales, sending it a few inches to the side, nearly making it lose its footing, roaring in pain at the attacks that were finally becoming a burden, even for its incredibly resistant scale, sinking deep into the wounds @Nymoria created with her deadly javelin and her desire to bring the thing down.

@Moonsong's music began once again, and with another call of attention, she was akin to a matador before a bull, except it was a much deadlier encounter, while @Nyancy went for another flurry of Nyanjutsu, quickly recovering from the curse that tried to overtake her.

Meanwhile, @Aloe's Stone of the Goddess brimmed, projecting the starry galaxy it held within it in front of the angelic magia, that summoned her beam. The projection snatched an inch of every Starcalled's effort: Cain and Zelrius's encouragement, Luthien and Yugam's teamwork, Magi and Nymoria's fierceness, Moonsong and Nyancy's courage. And Aloe's Victory.

Nine stars Constellation was highlighted in a blinding light, erupting a powerful beam that pierced air and space before striking the creature and sending it a dozen feet back, rolling and nearly losing control of its body until it sank its claws into the broken flooring of the room.

As thunderous power echoed through the wide room, the light and the projection faded slowly, remaining faint inside the stone on the girl's hand.

"Woooo! They are so powerful!" The girl beamed, cheering and already waving a piece of knit work as if it was a flag. "I want to be strong like them when I get bigger!" She giggled.

The woman chuckled. "You do?" She shifted her sphere, casting a glance at it. "You need to study magic a bit more to get there..."

"Or I need to study music, poetry, and singing, like the cool ladies and the rad guys!" The girl protested.

"Well, there is the piano..." She glanced behind her back, gesturing with her shoulder.

"I can't hit a big monster with a piano." She pouted.

"Of course, you can." The woman encouraged with a smirk, looking down at the sphere and moving it once again. "... The power of the Starcalled was sure to not be underestimated, one could only dream to have such strength and determination they carried... However..."

Staggering, the Eternal Gazer struggled to stand after being struck over and over, with a weak smoke escaping from the surface as the magic mercilessly struck it. Its gaze flickered, and it shook its head as it regained its focus.

It seemed like intimidation didn't work - It considered - Perhaps it should just go for the kill already.

It decided... And went for it.

With a loud cry, its roar was so powerful it shuddered bones, just as it swang its body with no care to whoever was nearby, charging toward the dark songstress, stomping and trampling everyone in its path while it shoved all its weight and brute strength against the woman that sank her blade against it, lifting her off the ground with its headbutt before slamming her against a pillar that cracked with the impact.

The creature tried to crush Moonsong against the pillar, with its gaze trying to pierce through her eyes and mind without a single restraint.

... As the beast continued to attack the warrior lady, those with good hearing, in particular @Nymoria, could hear the sounds of something rushing to reach the room echoing from afar.

Divine Intervention: Strike!

Roll Result
1d100 (98) = 98

The Divine Intervention of the Goddess of Victory has gathered 98% of the power output of the Starcalled in Cycle 2.

(65 + 19) from @Cain Darlite + 289 from @Luthien + 263 from @Yugam + 59 from @Zelrius + (265 + 17) from @Moonsong + 89 from @Nymoria + (304 + 40) from @Magi Heart + 146 from @Nyancy = 1556

@Aloe Beam released 1525 damage against the Eternal Gazer.

Cycle 3

Eternal Gazer spent 50 SP and used Enhanced Curse of Eternity against @Moonsong. She receives 40 magical damage and must make a DC 160 Will Save to avoid receiving 1 stack of Curse of Eternity + 1 extra stack for every 20 points below the Save Value.

Eternal Gazer used Trampling against @Nyancy, @Nymoria, @Zelrius, @Yugam, @Magi Heart & @Moonsong. They may make a DC 90 (lowered by 1x Slow stack) 80 Fortitude or Reflex Save to avoid receiving 2d20 physical damage.

Eternal Gazer used Tackle against @Moonsong. She receives 80 physical damage.

Something is approaching... (Those with +30 Awareness and @Nymoria with her Amplified Sense (Sound) can notice it).

Manaover. The high density of mana increased the power of the Eternal Gazer.

Curse of Eternity. A mere glimpse of the Eternal Gazer's eyes is enough to trigger the curse it wields.
  • Anyone that attacks the Eternal Gazer directly must make a DC 130 71 Will Save. Upon failure, they gain 1 stack of Curse of Eternity + 1 extra stack for every 20 points below the Save Value.
  • One may decide to attack glancing partially through reflections or peripheral vision, doing it with a -30 roll penalty. They must make a DC 100 55 Will Save instead.

A pair of arms encircled her shoulders just as the arrows were released, the blonde finding herself pulled into a hug by the slightly taller magia. @Aloe‘s words provided comfort, the pinkett's cheerfulness helping to block away some of the despair that threatened to swallow her elven mind from the comatosed victims around the large area. "You’re right, I’ll trust in big sister so you better lead us to victory~" She watched the others rush ahead, @Yugam included, even as @Zelrius loud voice invigorated those in the vanguard. Something in Aloe’s hands suddenly began to glow, catching Lúthien’s gaze before a powerful beam of blinding light shot forth and pushed the creature behind one of the pillars in the room.

One thing had stood out to the elf during the whole exchange, the way the ice in her arrows had seemingly slowed down the movements of the basilisk as it had attempted to grasp at Yugam not missed by her sharp eyes, and spurred by the idea the ranger moved forward to get a clearer shot. "Hey, Cain, care to enlighten us some more?" An impish smile rested on the girl’s lips as she called out to the taller man, aware by now of the skills @Cain Darlite possessed. Her idea was a wild one, based only on a hunch and nothing else… but if possible then the archer had a feeling it could change the tide of the battle.

Fingers plucked two new arrows from her quiver before the girl pressed them to her lips, a faint and unheard whisper enveloping them and causing the metal tips to shine in response. The arrows were nocked onto her bowstring then, faint crackling sounds now audible as thin bluish purple lightning streaks danced from one tip to the other and back, before the archer’s gaze focused squarely onto the large reptilian. Her crimson gaze remained unfazed and unwavering as Lúthien stared into the burning azure gaze of the beast, before she finally released the pair of arrows from their constraints.

Two streaks of lightning flew through the air then just as the sound of echoing thunder reverberated around the large space, before the energy of both merged into a single bolt that sought out its target mercilessly. Sparks flew all around as the lightning strike finally collided with the massive beast, the electricity causing stray rays to arc all around its body and forcing the muscles of the creature to spasm involuntarily.

"Yes~! It actually worked!!!"

She was unable to contain her excitement as a triumphant cry left Lúthien’s lips, the ranger’s focus on the work she had accomplished—entirely missing the skittering sounds as something seemed to rush towards the party from afar…

Well, he had to admit.

Maybe the Goddess of Victory wasn't just a self-proclaimed title after all.

Starlight indeed had effaced Eternity, an astral eruption shredding through scale and flesh, exposing a weakness in its form that was visible even in the dim lighting. It did little to halt the Basilisk's retaliatory rampage, the beast scattering the adventurers once more before launching itself headfirst into Moonsong. Yet, against that terrible assault, their lights did not dim; the creature's Gaze was weakening, while the Starcalled only strengthened in the face of adversity.

And then, lightning struck.

He felt it, that bolt, electrifying. He felt it, that bolt, paralyzing.

With inhuman grace, the Flagbear snapped his body to the side, the tips of his fingers spread out to graze the arcs of electricity that shot out from Luthien's bow. It kissed his fingers and in that split instant of contact, he synchronized with its frequency. Lightning and sound both existed on the same spectrum, after all. And just as how some music found their origins in the wind, others found it in the electric thrum of the amplifier!

Her bolts struck the beast with unerring accuracy, the charge surging deep through its nervous system to cause the Basilisk's entire form to lock up. Its limbs twitched, its Gaze flickering erratically, but for all the danger it knew it was in, there was little that it could do to prevent the inevitable.

That was the problem with being a monster known for its Gaze, after all. It could look at it wanted, but it could not act.

"It's time for an All Out Attack!"

Inexplicably, jazz and strings reverberated in the vacuum of cacophonous thunder, while multi-hued stars of purple, reds, blues, greens lit up the area around the Basilisk. What once was the living grave of adventurers had suddenly transformed into a festival, a dance party! And, chasing away fear with an explosive joy, despair with implacable hope, the Flagbearer allowed his astral banner to burst apart, dousing the area in sparkling radiance as he thrust one hand towards Aloe.

"You've got a Victory Dance for these circumstances no? Step up, Goddess, and show me your moves!"

Indeed, this was a party now!

A DPS Party!

...

And as for what lurked behind him, approaching at ever greater speeds...well, Cain saw that coming too. And he was prepared.

Seeing @Cain Darlite 's extended hand Aloe hesitated...

These kinds of songs had rap accompaniments didn't they?

Aloe gulped while reminiscing about the wrong number in the series. The angeloid wasn't sure if she could do it, but since everyone was trying their best, she would too. She would give the heroic bard what he was asking for. Aloe would try her best and and be a street angel. What even was happening anymore?

Aloe nodded, perhaps never more seriously in her life as her eyebrows furrowed and she hopped over with a loud squeaky "YO" and slapped Cain's hand in a high five down low.

Aloe dematerialized her staff and held up two Vs with her hands. And then, she turned them side ways. That's right hip hop was all about attitude.

"Yo~ yo~ yo ya yo yo~"

She was struggling to find her flow but with the aid of Cain's silky beats she finally grasped it. *erhrm~*

"DJ CAIN IN DAAA HOUSEEE~!"

Her voice squeaked.

"GETCHO HANDS UP~!"

"ALOE da da da ALOE da da da ALOE da da da ALOE da da da ALOE'S HEEEEEEERE~"

"AAAAAAAAH FEELIN FIT THAT'S HOW IT GO YO~~~~~ START."

"~~~~SO YA NERVOUS YA GOTTA BASSLISK YA GOT A SHIT LIST YA GOTCHA MOMS SPHAGGETI"

"THEN COMES THE CRITICAL CONDITIONAL~ PITIFUL POSITIONAL ~ DREGIN THAT BAD MEM'RY~"

Aloe hopped around Cain as she manifested her Aloe rod to use as a prop mic. Cain, master performer as he was perhaps covered for her amateurish spunk as they weaved walking front and back throwing arms and bobbing. Yes, hip hop was all about attitude.

"HANDS SHAKIN LANDS QUAKIN WE DED HOES UNDERGROUND ALREADY---"

*Record scratch*

"----BUT FUCK IT. YA GOT ONE CHANCE
THE MUSIC
THE MOMENT
YA GOTTA NEVER LET IT GO, YO,
THE ALOE 9 STILL GOT A WAYS TO GO
THE ONLY HOES WE FUCKIN WITH
ARE THE ONES WE DIGGIN WITH
TO MAKE OUR VICTORY ROADS~!"

"DJ CAIN GIVIN YOU TONES
IN LOADS
FEELIN IT
IN YOUR DANK

DUN'JONS"

ALL I'M SAYIN IS~~~~~~
~~~~WE INVENTED THIS STARCALLED SHIT! MUTHAFUCKKKKKAAAA~!"
And with that, Aloe yelled and threw threw the mic... no wait... it was her staff as the die on the end spun and glowed as it flew.
Aloe's Lucky Chance Spell (DJ Enhanced Street Edition) sailed through the air until it found the most street player on the court: @Moonsong
@Moonsong and @Yugam spared him comments on his self-cringe worthy shout of encouragement. Maybe he go too much into character for some of these things. They had simply used it well, the dark haired man and the tank in question. Surrounded by allies, this was the best possible outcome. @Nyancy was amusingly bold, going full cock on the creature, getting in its face with her wild and crazy strikes. How was it that he had never met this particular starcalled before?
He steeled himself, flaming weapons drawn, watching and waiting for his next opening. Something the pink haired loli-girl had found before him. Then Moonsong found again. There was too much waiting - no where he could fit in. Zelrius was at a loss once more. The relentless strikes of magic seemed to be shaken off. This creature was powerful. He was too cautious, though for once in his life, that'd actually pay off. Trotting and running to follow their tank, his blue eyes had been able to see its intent before it started moving, using his speed to leave a flaming shadow of his silhouette. Dynamism was handy in that odd sort of way. Saving him from the damage of its cragged and scaled body impacting his own.
He approached, following after it to go along, not wanting the songstress knightess to stand on her own for too long. Not that he thought the others would wait to do the same. Only to have the crack of thunder, and yellow streaks of electricity whizz by his head, straight over it and into the monster's body. Craning it to hear @Luthien 's declaration of something working. His neck twisted back, the lines of turned skin disappearing, mind racing.
It was contorting and convulsing wildly. The way he had seen videos of people who had been shocked, or used those small electro pads for muscular stimulation. Unable to move?
That was the moment he had been waiting for the Pyromancer realized. Without it being able to dodge, the Eternal gazer would know Fire.
His hand reached up, and out, grasping at the air, and calling to him the sources of light through out the room. At first they'd flicker, and drag. The way the tip of a candle does when blown on, following the draft of the room or a space. Those spheres would soon turn into tendrils that began to swirl, as their spheres of flame grew in size, expanding. Bathing the room in their brilliant, Azure light. Casting away every shadow. The man breathed in deeply, causing all those flames to incline themselves his direction, to flutter in the air. And then out, sending them the other way as he called them from their torch imprisonments. A closed fist swung around in an arch around him, commanding those same flames now to treat the Basilisk as their epicenter - as their fuel. Encircling the creature with Azure cinders and the searing heat of their burning touch.
It wouldn't be enough. Daring Zelrius would not be satisfied until he could smell only singed and burnt meat of an overgrown lizard. He stepped forward, to stand in the ring of blue fire with the great enemy. A power stance as one leg was sent forward and bent to steady himself. Mustering all of his might to pull back and make an uppercut motion with the full weight of his body. Though his physical fist met only air, behind it, a pillar of orange-red cinders began to forumlate, before spreading out into a wide area, and concealing its form behind the Twin contrasting Flames.
A beam of light (@Aloe) that resembled the same kind of magic Magi herself used engulfed the great lizard. The astral light, in Vintergard she had somehow channeled it but here, no. Wendy had no hope of a miracle this time. Wendel was having far too much freedom to destroy and there was little to stop her.
A flurry of magenta weaved in around the Basilisk. It's long tail thrashed and it's claws stomped about in a way that was becoming nearly comical. From the rapidly shadow-hopping Magi came a steady and relentless stream of darker and deeper hues.
Rather than stay at a distance. Magi continued to stay close, not letting the monster have a moment of respite from damage, whether from the others, her own more charged shots, or the tick damage she was just unloading every second.
A flip back directly in front of the monster. Wendel now stood beside @Moonsong. The songstress had been constantly dragging the monster's attention and had been the near sole recipient of its rage.
"Wowzers Moonie, are you doing that on purpose? I can do better than this kaiju to end your pain! You don't have to keep doing this to yourself you know♥. You need peace not a big dumb lizard! Give me a little bit and you don't have to ask once we are done here....."
Gentle words, that held an erratic tone echoing only to be lost into the sounds of battle, were spoken to the Lunar Melody. The white of Magi's right eye went black. All these suffering slumbering prisoners both fighting and not...
The back of her dress expanded into shadow, melding with the dark tunnel...
Oh, this is a tale for but a child yes?
The Starfallen Savior would happily become a Mahou Shoujo symbol for any young fan and if she knew one read her exploits, her imbued nature of heroic desire would be delighted. Much like a serial killer enjoys his hunter's efforts. When one is inspired by you, one can be convinced of your intent as well.
The eyes of the Eternal Gazer...were pitiful.
It sat there convulsing as it was cut down. Ever since @Cain Darlite's declaration of its name, Wendel had become immune to everything this beast did. Her will, seemed to be not enough to stop dissonance from claiming her soul but far too great for this creature to break. Her movements and astral sense were too swift and too augmented from years within Terrasphere for a random dungeon monster to threaten no matter how ancient it may be.
A lizard was a lizard.
An explosion of force and power shook the chamber as @Zelrius the mysterious deja vu man from earlier, somehow he had unleashed power unheard of to this point. Wendel stared into his flame and her face calmed.
Gertrud was released. It hovered in front of her as both of her gloved hands, now shimmering in abyssal shadow, reached outwards. This weapon had always been strong and even now it grew, but at this point, she would channel from deeper...
A tale that may or may not be reality. A child can know an avenging maiden, a flaming champion, and curious elf, or a lucky fool. Then they shall know the distorted love of this forgotten dreamer as well. Even if it is translated as a merciless reaper. No, there was only mercy to be found here...
Tendrils of shadow rose from all around the Basilisk. Each overlapped onto it until it was becoming suffocated in a vortex of black. If one traced the shadows upon the dark floors, perhaps they would see it leading to the figure of the pinkette, arms stretched outwards, and eyes wide shut to her own nature.
Who would then begin breathing heavily...
Perhaps she had gone too far in her grief-fueled ecstasy.
Her skin paled as she continued to use the smothering magic, again, just like the astra burst against the Dragonship. Magi continued to use magic beyond her frail body's limits. Magi Heart once barely could use a bow and now her own manipulating mana was killing her. Whether strong or weak, Magi couldn't catch a break.
Thankfully she was too insane to give a damn anymore.
Moonsong looked at @Magi Heart beside her, intrigued by the way she was offering peace. "Heh, I'll have to decline that one for now. Gotta make them think that I'm playing hero." Dodging at the last second was not a very bright idea against an enemy this big, and as a result, it successfully pinned Moonsong onto the pillar with its head, ramming her directly. One or two bones might have cracked during the impact, but it was nothing fatal.
Not satisfied yet, the Basilisk pinned her and forcefully gazed right into her eyes, making her relieve that moment again. That damned moment where all the time in the world stopped; just for her and Kenji.
Just a little bit more...
@Luthien's thunder echoed across the room, and as the brunette regained composure the beast was already spasming and paralyzed. "Nice one!" She muttered while trying to get away from @Zelrius' twin flames that definitely were far hotter than anything she had ever seen. "Ok, probably wanna stay away from that one." The brunette quickly jumped back, as the bright flames engulfed the beast.
@Aloe's surprisingly addicting rap filled the room, clearing her head from all the side effects of the gaze. She gave a thumbs up at the Goddess for the big boost (of confidence).
Walking back to the beast's side, she whispered in its ear. "I'm not a princess" She taunted it with a tune, circling back towards the front of its head. "—Not a cutie girlfriend, oh no don't you know?" Of course, the thing could not do anything other than stare back, thanks to the concentrated electricity hitting it moments ago. Conjuring massive gauntlets and boots with her arcanamancy, the songstress was ready to personally throw hands.
Charging, she used her gravity magic to enhance an uppercut punch that staggered the Basilisk, before quickly moving in to deliver a deadly, god-killing kick between its legs, straight into the nuts. "How you like that?" Moonsong grinned.
