Busy Bodies, Busier Markets.
The trap is a success. Some buffoon had taken hold of her priced pocket watch, their lust for treasure guided them to it for certain. Despite her complaints about it, Tock surely is a master strategist in comparison, her twin having gone as far as to sweeten the deal with engravings all over that old cog. A rarity of an item, with an exclusive design to keep it separate from it's generic brethrens. Granted, it still hurt her just a little to keep one of her precious possessions away for so long, specially one as elaborate as this one, given love by both sisters.
But the promise of a good laugh and a nice little drama swatted all that aside. To have an actor that knows not of the play promises chaos, specially when they don't know they are one in the first place. Their prey would reach heavens with their new prize and go straight down to purgatory for their sins once stolen.
The crowds upon Stokbon were plentiful, so much that people had to rub one against another to cross, as if they were part of a stadium about to watch some celebrity go live with a new album from their latest hits. The chit chattery, the practiced screams of the merchants who fought one against another in a never ending war within Endra's Square in their search for the highest profits, and the benevolent statue of the goddess that watch over the commerce happening within her cold eyes. It wasn't so difficult to steal something from someone with the right level of knack and a set of dexterous fingers. The witch's pockets, or bag, or satchel, or whatever she used to store objects, would feel a little heavier, and then a little lighter, with Tock as the thief slithering away with the prize dingling from it's chain around her hands.
She turned over a corner, just on cue for Tick to lean over against the wall and simply wait for their furious victim to come, hopefully not with a mean punch at first sight but rather an explanation, maybe some cussing if she was lucky!
