Watch the skies, Traveler.

To old friends and new faces alike, my name is Vale. It'll be a pleasure brutalizing your characters and rewarding all the stupid shit they get up to. I, personally, have been roleplaying for well over a decade and have been into TTRPGs for nearing one. World building and map making are particular passions of mine due to both of those. Along with a deep appreciation for fantasy religions and horrific monstrosities.

I am heavily narrative focused, and very little of my content will be purely humorous shenanigans. I make up for a lacking sense of humor with wanting to emotionally devastate and remake characters. Join me for an adventure if you like to uncover unknowns or hunt things that often hunt back.

Preference
  • Content: Exploration, adventure, combat, social, varies
  • Player Group: Any
  • Difficulty: Easy to Hard
  • Party Size: 4-6

What players can expect in my content

I enjoy exploration and story above all else, so most of my content will be focused on the search for information, strange creatures, and quest lines for NPCs here or there. These threads will often take place on the current frontier or in overlooked ruins and regions. Tags, racial abilities, and the like will likely be considered in most things I run. Some content will also include horror, so make sure to check individual descriptions. And if you Nat One, expect to be mauled.

What I expect of my players as a DM

Engage! Talk with NPCs, talk with other PCs, talk with me, stick your nose places, ask about and attempt creative ways around obstacles or join forces to surmount tasks. Terrasphere isn't a single player game, and it's a living world more than anything. What you do can cause rippling effects - at least in my quest lines. Make sure they're cool ones!

The JRPG/Anime Narrator
She Who Rules...
Welcome Traveler!

If you have returned to the world of Terrasphere from its previous incarnation, then you probably know me pretty well. If not, no worries you are welcome and will have a great time after a bit of a learning curve! I'm one of the Narrators here, a lore lover, and the writer behind Trinity, Prism, Tertoria, Dissonance, and several other plot points in the Terrasphere universe.

I can tell you right away that I offer a different kind of experience than other Narrators. I am NOT a newbie-friendly DM. As in, if you just recently joined and I'm your first event runner. It may be rough on you and give you the wrong idea of how newbie friendly much of TS can be. If you've been here awhile and understand the site, have read a few of my events for reference, and want to bring a freshly made character. Then you will do much better! I will offer your character a ton of custom toys and depth hard to find in the site's global Megathread content. There are some consequences for that on the forum medium. So be sure you're okay with that before joining an LFG of mine.

I have a history in anime/pan-fandom rather than DnD/Original Fantasy genres. So expect a lot of tropes that I am very aware that those in the know will get very quickly. I offer you comfort food fellow weeb!

Preference
  • Content: JRPG, Mahou Shoujo, sometimes Shonen esque content. NPC, Mechanically Focused Content, Dungeon Crawling, Bosses. Do not come to me for western style or very low-ceiling "realistic content".
  • Player Group: I prefer members that have an above-average grasp on all the mechanics and lore in the wiki and are ready for the next level. I'm probably not a good first DM for you if you just joined yesterday. However, I do have questlines I put up and smaller non-dmed content designed for beginner to early intermediate players! Look up Trinity Quests in the Quest board for more information!
  • Difficulty: So, for this, I'd rather break it up into mechanical challenge (how much thinking and personal time besides just writing you have to put in) and actual risk of death (the concept of difficulty used by many other DMs). My mechanical difficulty is usually high and stays that way in battle scenarios. Outside battles, I will rarely go over what you'd see elsewhere if not even less so.
  • Party Size: 4-10. With 10+ being rare exceptions rather than the rule.
  • Domains: Areas of TS I focus on and can offer the best content for.
    • Tertoria: The ancient land kept hidden for ages. This region is built upon my inspirations more than any other on TS. It is a complex region with a long history and many dangers that go beyond what other human-dominated regions may offer.
    • Dissonance: My major antagonist race/species/concept. An eldritch presence that stems from Calamity Deep and corrupts the souls of Landers and Players alike. Takes many forms, and comes in 2 known "Orders". In my content dissonance will almost always be the worst enemy involved.
    • Magitech: I have a strong love for magitech and sci-fi elements So I strongly lean away from generic swords and sorcery for more of Final Fantasy and Phantasy Star-like setting. You will see this more as the story proceeds. That you can be sure of.
    • Prism: A mysterious and extremely volatile material that can be found throughout Arcia. It has strange effects on its surroundings and can even impact Dissonance in ways nothing else could. It is capable of bringing force creatures called Primon that are alternate versions of existing people and monsters.
  • Inspirations: Fate Series, Madoka Magica, Symphogear, Star Ocean, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Persona (old and new eras), Final Fantasy (1-10), Tales of, Xenosaga/Gears, Atelier, Ar Tonelico, Wild Arms...
  • Character Recommendation: Of course, you can use whatever character you'd like in my content. However, my style, topics, and tropes blend better with characters that fit into my inspirations. Repeated use of the same character so I can learn about them and better suit their interests and genre is also beneficial.

What players can expect in my content
JRPG simulation.

Now for the long version...

If you fail things are often lost. Sometimes you can get back onto the route to a happier ending, but sometimes you cannot. Other times... there is no happy ending.

While your choices decide the direction, the story ALWAYS moves forward. I do my best to keep the pace moving and the chance of overly drawn-out content minimal. Good, neutral, bad route, and true routes all exist in what I do in some form.

My take on DMing is that you are special, not just average Joes. You have been Starcalled and while there are many great beings, heroes, and villains beyond you... you are no mere adventurer. So once you have an adventure or two under your belt, mooks such as minions and low-stakes content will often be fairly simple. You won't encounter an average group of bandits that can bring down an S-tier character that's for sure. Also just because you have maxed out your masteries doesn't mean you don't still have far to go young padawan. Terrasphere is a long-term RP and you will find yourself given more toys and bonuses to play with in my events over your long stay here. I use a Starcalled Level system to ensure a feeling of progression long after you have finished grinding out MP/GP.

I generally want every character to feel like an individual unit that is also a part of the whole. So I focus on smaller parties to grant more individuality and custom mechanics or character interactions based on if you have any prior developments in the Main Story. For example; having Dissonance as a tag or DA can cause many things to happen to you that might not happen otherwise. Especially since it is one of my "domains" or plot expertise areas.

I use a lot of NPC to assist players in different challenges. I consider NPC to be just another part of a party's build in many cases and will often allow you to choose who you'd like to accompany you (situation allowing). They can often fill gaps in player builds or enhance what players bring to the table. I also allow rping with my NPC much more frequently than others might. Once one is unlocked for rp just make a request!

Freeform: These are very lenient rp rules-wise. Generally, these are purely story threads where you interact with NPC or inject yourself into some event that is taking place in the world that you happen upon. You can act however you feel your character should and affect things in real-time without things like ability lists or maps getting in the way. Of course, this doesn't mean you should rp that you ran out of the area did 10 things, and then came back or something that's nonsensical. Battles do not occur in freeform in my content and if one seems to it will be a very story-heavy encounter, think cutscene or quick-time event. This is by far my most newbie-friendly content Traveler!

Mega Dungeons: If you have experienced a World Boss or a contribution-based MSQ, congrats! You already have a base understanding of how these work! The rules for these are posted in their respective threads. These are very rare, only 1 or 2 will occur per season. However, they are a great way to interact with newcomers and will often be used by me as a lead-up to something "extra" later.

Active World: Another form of Megathread I run. These are open world style events where you select from a variety of prompts set across Arcia. Every prompt has its own objective and often there is hidden lore or unlockable side content to discover. Unlike other events, I will often collab with other Narrators for these. They will have their own prompts, NPC and unlockables scattered throughout for you to play with.

Grid Combat/Bosses: Epic struggles for survival are what TS is about and here you will indeed die without preparation and wits. Expect technical grid-based combat where you will have to use meta knowledge to get by. Pacing on a forum is a difficult process so fights tend to be short (2-4 cycles) and the damage is very high compared to anything else. My best advice for not getting one shot, beware of over-reliance on RNG and more so beware of vulnerable status. The difference between Vuln and not Vuln is more noticeable in my content. If a boss can attack multiple times and you are taking x2 that damage... you probably died.

Work together with your team, and forge fate with your own hands in the face of adversity.

What I expect of my players as a DM:
Did you read it all and like what you saw? If you do you're already halfway to being a long-term Pan player! See you on TS2!

Well alright, a few extra things might be good lol.
  • Long-Term Outlook: My content is designed with more long-term developments in mind (think months to years considering TS2 pacing). While events themselves can be episodic in nature, it's much better to have a character that can recognize and get to know the repeated themes, NPCs, and locations that I utilize. I am well known for disliking one-shots and it shows in everything I do. So it is strongly advised that you play the same character as often as possible in my content.
  • Think of the Team: Don't be selfish, your teammate's OOC should always be let in on what you want and are going to do. No one likes having their characters get wrecked or put in an awkward situation the writer doesn't enjoy because you decided to do something unpredictable for a laugh. Make sure it's understood and there is a consensus before you go meming in a dangerous way.

Read everything and are ready to delve into the Box of Chaos?

Lol.

Hello! I'm Lumaceon (or just Luma). You might also know me by my old character, Celestine. I'm a relatively new TS player, Titanius being my first and only worldboss, but I've been consistently writing on forum RPs for a decade now. One might say I'm a bit obsessed.

I'm always looking to improve, both as a writer, and as an entertainer. RP is a mix of both skills, I think. Not only should you tell a story, but you also need to know what everyone's looking for; what makes them tick.

Preference
  • Content: Story first, Exploration second, Combat third, Puzzles sorta maybe.
  • Player Group: Either Intermediate exclusive, or Mixed group.
  • Difficulty: Leaning on the easier side
  • Party Size: 4-10

What players can expect in my content

In a word: cartoonishness! Cuteness, colorful settings, exaggeration. I love crazy, dorky world building, and am not an official narrator. Expect content with world-altering plot-lines, wacky characters/settings, and general insanity that the main story may contradict and wipes out of canonicity. It may not be officially recognized, but if it's fun, it doesn't have to be!

I also try to curate my content around the characters who join, which is why I'll probably cap most challenges to 10 characters. It's fun to feel like you're making real impacts on things, or when your characters' unique traits shine out as truly special. I may read threads you've completed and build off things you've written if I have time. Did you establish a mysterious potion shop out in Western Brisshal? Maybe just maybe it'll come up again, who knows...?

What I expect of my players as a DM

Read a few of my posts before you join and see if I'm right for you. Be ready to enjoy something that feels a bit like a fanfic, existing to the side of the main story. Don't take things too seriously and be prepared for generous heaps of "Rule of Cool" that might not make sense. Lastly, be prepared to have me poke into your previous writings and ask if I can borrow things from it, but don't require it of me either (I can only do so much!).

Welcome, and thank you for your time.

My name is AleDog, player of several characters that go by in this forum. I also happen to have a passion for managing content for players to enjoy, and while I was unable to do so during TS1 I am more than happy to take the opportunity to do so now after four years' experience in the matter.

I enjoy flowing content that necessitates change and critical thinking both in and out of character. This can include any kind of content, so long as the narrative calls for it. Challenge exists in all forms and can be overcome in each.

If you're uncomfortable with any ideas, please let me know in advance-just in case. I like being tasteful, but you never know how far can be too far under the diversity of the human mind.

Preferences
  • Content: Variable based on the thread. I enjoy combat, discovery, exploration and problem-solving.
  • Player Group: Currently Rookie to Intermediate. I also wish to run for Veteran players, though wish to keep this content separate from the former by default.
  • Difficulty: Any, and I will list the difficulty in advance when creating an overview.
  • Party Size: 4-10 for a thread, though a challenge may have multiple separate groups of this number.

What players can expect in my content

Free Writing or Mechanics

Generally, so long as there are not mechanics outlines in a current cycle (progress, saves, combat or otherwise) you can assume that the thread is currently free-form and open to your creativity. When mechanics are in play, you are free to let your creativity loose so long as it remains within the boundaries of the game and thread's rules.

Grid Combat and Long-Distance Communication
Similarly to Pandora, I enjoy to exercise the players in a literal cardio sense-movement is important in many given combats, as it is as well to your environment at hand. There may be several environments at a time that players have access to in a situation, and some are further from each-other than others. Sometimes you may need to split up, and sometimes it is important for your lives to stay together.

I enjoy it when players band together to tactically think, and thus I enjoy to employ maps to consider things such as location and positioning. There will be occasions that combats will happen without these systems, of course.

DM Content
I am accepting of other DM's content and of Trinity content that has been acquired unless the situation at hand prevents the use of them for whatever reason. It would usually be a story reason.

Shenanigans
Look, I get it-We live in ttrpgs for three things-touching character moments, feeling the level of power you want to achieve and shenanigans to make memes about later. I don't mind them, and I hope you don't mind my own in turn. As some would attest, I tend to be a frequenter in shenanigans.
Just be warned-If a seeming exploit is there for you to use, it's probably there for a reason. Think about that when you see one, and take what you can get.

What I expect of my players as a DM

Please explore the environment given to you should you feel that there is something available beneath the surface. If you notice something that really is there, or interact with someone in a way that is meaningful, the story will grow to include this. You are as much a part of the story as I am.

Please engage with your fellow players as well as the characters that might exist. This may even include communication threads which may end up being of surprising import. Remember-these threads are where you meet other site-goers you normally wouldn't and make memories with them! If you're unfamiliar with another character, that's all the more reason to try and bond with them.

Do or die. Roll the dice.

The Stars called, and You answered.

I am Ashifili, shortened to Ashi for convenience. For one reason or the other, I've become known as the Goblin DM or the Murderous DM, but I would like to think that over the last four years, I have mellowed out somewhat. The media I consume naturally informs the direction of my writing, and in the time that has passed since, the desire for the death-drive has faded away into a simple appreciation for theatrics and shadow-dance. The work I do will likely be weird, and the monsters I employ will be unkind, but it'll likewise be broken up with moments of levity, depending on the general atmosphere of the challenge. After 15 or so years of RPing, I've more or less gotten a pretty broad range of things I'm comfortable tip-tapping away at.

But do mind. These are challengers. I will make characters bleed, so that it may serve as fuel for their passions. I make no distinction between Easy, Medium, or Hard, only requesting a certain baseline of mechanical attributes. Simply put, there's a weirdly equal chance of TPKing whether it's with a party of newbies or a party of veterans. Funny, how that happens.

To have a glean into my current vibes, check these out. A picture's worth a thousand words, and music videos are worth much more.
[1][2][3]

Preference
  • Content: One can expect everything from me, except for maybe puzzles. I'm mostly known for explorations into anachronistic sectors of Terrasphere, as well as for combats that end up with an unlucky death or two.
  • Player Group: I design challenges for all brackets.
  • Difficulty: Keep your wits about you, don't encounter any terrible rolls, and I'd float all my challenges as a level-appropriate Medium. But things, of course, get out of hand once in a while.
  • Party Size: 4-6 is my strike zone. I generally like to highlight everyone in my posts, so once it reaches beyond that number, it gets cumbersome to do so.

What players can expect in my content
Nidhogg
For some reason, people die and my challenges are failed. I build upon deaths and failures as well, and the corpses that pile up occasionally become something enjoyable in the long run. Death, especially for Starcalled, is just part of the journey, so even as you defy it, embrace it.

Camellia
For all the violence I inflict, I've no interest in directly creating a horrific environment. The settings I make can be dark and vicious, filled with things out to break your limbs and tear out your tongues, but I prefer 'terrible' to be associated with 'beauty'. After all, I do enjoy my anime.

Chaoskampf
Oh, but violence is certainly enjoyable in and of itself. In matters of combat, mashing mechanics and freeform is my jam and butter, and map-based combat is what I constantly crave. I prefer the personal touch over the impersonal one, and will certainly be designing special, character-unique actions for those who brave the deep dark. And on the matter of nat 1s, I don't believe in collective punishment over matters of random chance.

What I expect of my players as a DM
Revelations
I generally run challenges as an impetus for character development, and subsequently, it would be helpful if players are comfortable with riding a rollercoaster of triumph and tragedy. Melodrama is absolutely my jam, and being swept up in emotion to the extent of abstraction is my permanent vibe.

Masks
I like layers. Many layers. And I like, too, players who are willing to see beyond the surface level, or at the very least are cool with twists and reveals that fundamentally alter what the challenge is about. More than layers, I enjoy lies and secrets, and will absolutely request actions to be PM'd to me directly in certain cases.

Edicts
My origins have always been founded in freeform, so I'm fairly lenient in regards to creative applications of anything from mastery fusions to racial traits to equipment tag flavour hijinks. When I translate your applications into a roll, however, that roll is final. Please just roll with it.
Legacies and Legends
Intrepid explorers, tasked by the archaeologists of Camp Hollownook, delve into a tunnel discovered within the Torim Citadel in search of answers. They find kobolds instead.
A ragtag group of adventurers is tasked to uncover the threats roaming around the unexplored tunnels within the ancient Torim Citadel, nothing but each other to rely on as they delve deeper and deeper in search of truths... And wine! Lots of excitement, decapitated women, oversized kobolds and a strange wine addiction follows.
Invited by the Starlight Troupe, amateur actors go ham on the stage, recapturing the emotions, if not the facts, of the storied Titania Core fight from four years past. Accurate? No. Hype? Yes.
"The Heart of Titania Really Makes You Feel Like Aalam Abungu."
"Be sure to prepare a tissue, because The Heart of Titania is a tear-jerking, one-of-a-kind experience. For veterans, enjoy a nostalgic recreation of a tragic eventful fight. For newcomers, take a look at the potential of your legendary battle relived. Nowhere else you can find this kind of marvelous ride."

Let's put on a show!

Hi! I'm piggol, previously known as Akeno.

I am here because I love writing. This environment allows for a riveting opportunity to practice creativity, and I'm thrilled to partake. I joined prior to Azog on TS1 with my character Eleanor (Nalla), whom I hold close to my heart. A DM's job, in my opinion, is to provide a stage, a spotlight, and props for the actors (that's you!) to put on an amazing show.

I spend a significant amount of time brainstorming and writing every post I make, and I always do my best to honor and reward the efforts of players. I understand that everyone cares deeply about their characters, so when someone agrees to involve their time, labor, and originality in my prompts, I feel there is an intense duty to fulfill and cherish that trust.

Preference
  • Content: Intrigue, Combat, and Problem Solving
  • Player Group: Any
  • Difficulty: Easy - Deadly
  • Party Size: 2-5

What players can expect in my content
Difficulty.
It's sort of up to the players. I always sprinkle hints and clues toward solutions, outcomes, and danger, doing my best to accurately describe setting and circumstance to players. Involve and integrate your character in the story, come up with interesting ways to solve problems, and things can go very smoothly! Maybe even score a no-hit run!

Death is rare.
I will never kill a character suddenly or outright. I believe that character death should be a consequence of intentional recklessness or rhetorical negligence. If death is possible or even imminent, there will be warnings in my posts, and only with repeated acceptance or willful ignorance will my mechanics result in a character death. I do not think a DM's job is to kill. Nevertheless, it is a tool of the narrative, and it must be utilized with care and intention, if rarely.
NPCs.
My non-player characters never exist to steal the show. They may take the stage, but they will always exist as a backboard for the player characters (the real showstoppers) to bounce off of. The moment the actors become the props is the moment I start booing.

Less Mechanics, More Writing.
There will be some level of mechanical reference, especially when it comes to rolling and moderation of power levels. Overall, the writing cannot overwrite a poor roll, but a poor roll should never inhibit good writing. The writing will tell you more than the numbers do. Do not expect complex mechanical masterpieces from me. In my threads, there is not usually a tactically correct option. Protect doesn't just divide by two, it protects someone! What is good, what is evil, but most importantly, what does the character do?

What I expect of my players as a DM
The player's writing is very important to me. My writing is very important to me. When a player makes a post, I will read it carefully. I understand that someone put in a lot of care and effort. When I make a post, I expect it to be given that same respect.

Read my posts. Find the clues. Engage with the content. Think up innovative ways to utilize your masteries. Do these things, and you will receive my spotlight. I will honor your character, I will share your love for them, I will enjoy your writing, and we will create an absolutely awesome story together.

The world is a maze. Seek the exit.

Hello! I’m Tarkya, and you’ve probably seen me snooping about in the Discord and whatnot. I’ve been roleplaying on and off for a very long time, including running a few long-defunct forums of my own. Terrasphere is the first forum roleplay I’ve participated in for a long time, but that desire to tell stories has never faded.

I like to get a little experimental with what I do. There are things you can do with text and code you can't do with words alone, and I like to make full use of that toolkit. And while I'll have a general shape in mind for my challenges, I'm just as likely to fly by the seat of my pants as I am to have a set plan. If you can't tell when I'm doing one or the other, then I'm doing it right.

Preference
  • Content: A little bit of everything. I like to make players think about the world they're in.
  • Player Group: Any.
  • Difficulty: Easy to Medium, though I hope to branch towards harder things eventually
  • Party Size: 3-6.

What players can expect in my content

I lean towards the narrative and I'm a sucker for big cinematic set pieces. Expect more freeform than dice rolling in my content and for me to reward clever thinking over superior dice rolls. Of course, this doesn’t mean I’ll shun mechanics entirely - I just like to save it for when it’s appropriate, such as tense moments and big battles.

I’ll tell all sorts of stories, but I’m fond of psychological and the surreal. If you’ve watched things by Satoshi Kon (Paranoia Agent, Paprika), read the SCP wiki, or played any of a number of RPGmaker horror games, you’ll understand the atmosphere I favor. Even in more lighthearted content, expect things that blur the line between fantasy and reality and delve into how your characters think and feel.

Occasionally I’ll run content that requires you to act in the ā€œreal worldā€. Such things will be clearly marked, but don’t let that stop you from joining if your character is UI-locked or inconveniently located in the world. There'll still be ways to contribute from within the game - in fact, it might be necessary to succeed.

What I expect of my players as a DM

Roleplay is a collaborative endeavor. Engage with the world and the world will respond in kind. If you do something for or to an NPC, it'll affect your reputation in the future. And if you give me a knife, be prepared for me to use it. I'm not out to kill characters, but actions have consequences.

Above all, don’t be afraid to communicate with me if things are getting too uncomfortable or real life intrudes. My job is to make characters suffer, not players! If you aren’t having fun, I want to know so we can figure things out.

I've gone by many names, I've worn many faces. In this iteration, you know me as Kijin, but at other tables, I have been a pirate, I have been a thief, I have been a Dark Jedi, I have been the High Priest of a War God. In the real world we are what we decide to be, but in a game, we have the power to be anything that we wish. I am believe in the creative and innovative nature of the mind, and in the capacity of DM, it is my desire to help others cultivate those traits.

My love for fantasy began in Narnia. It has traveled to Middle Earth, and as far beyond the stars as Arrakis. I have seen what lurks in the frigid wastes beyond the Wall, in the true North, and I have traversed the Warrens and recounted tales from the Book of the Fallen. I've used systems as pre-constructed as D&D 3.5 and as freeform as Wushu, all the way to those as unforgiving as Savage Worlds. I am not afraid of conflict or loss. I also do not believe that every story has a happy ending.

Preference
  • Content: Political Intruige, Mystery, Horror, Thriller, Adventure, Action, Combat, World Building, Character Development
  • Player Group: Intermediate, Veteran
  • Difficulty: Medium, Hard, Deadly
  • Party Size: 3-5

What players can expect in my content

I like narrative and communication. You will see interactions between Non-Player characters. Pay attention, because little things may not be what they seem, and nothing is ever completely irrelevant. Players are intended to interact with the world, and each other. If there is someone in a scene, feel free to interact with them.

I love to see Players fight against fate. I also don't always believe that a victory is attainable, but there is beauty in tragedy. If you are looking for conflict resolution at the end of every tunnel, I may not be your flavor.

Death isn't a guarantee, but it also isn't off the table. I won't go out of my way, but if the door opens, I'll reach my skeletal hand through. You have been warned.

I will also give those that earn glory that will make the experience satisfying. No one would take a risk if there were no opportunity at being rewarded, after all.

What I expect of my players as a DM

Foremost, communication. There is nothing that cannot be accommodated for, provided I am aware before the fact. I will give ample warning if content is going to be unsuited for some readers, and I expect potential players to be mindful of their limitations and respectful of my time and effort to create a scenario for the enjoyment of others. Don't waste my time. I promise I won't waste yours.

Be willing to work with me. Trust the process. Take it seriously.

Let me show you the world through my eyes.

Hi! You may or may not remember me from TS1. Where I've been known as Skyswimsky and did a bunch of things. With TS2 I'd like to do a bunch more things! What things? We'll see in a second. I've been roleplaying since the age of 10, first in German and later in English. Sometimes more and sometimes less. And while I may not be as wordy as the others, and actually try to write less-is-more, I'll give it all my best!

I really love JRPGs and Animanga, even though I rarely do any of those two anymore. Adulting sucks. So do introductions.

Preference
  • Content: Yes.
  • Player Group: Any
  • Difficulty: Easy - Deadly
  • Party Size: 1 to 8 (most comfortable with 3 to 4)

What players can expect in my content

I like to experiment from a mechanical standpoint. So chances might be that from challenge to challenge I am trying out different things that I stole from various sources and adjusted to my needs. While I do say that, I also strongly believe that mechanics solely exist to support a narrative and I try to avoid complexity for the sake of complexity.

Feel is very important to me, and this can be both achieved by writing, styling, and the mentioned mechanics. Want to have a Boss Battle that feels like a Final Fantasy fight? Well, you can be sure there's gonna be some sort of Limit Break in there!

That said, the player comes always first and I purposefully keep my group size low so I can give each and every single one a certain level of attention and care that I am not able to in bigger events. Even if mechanics are in place, you're free to challenge them and get creative and suggestive. Communication here is key.

Apart from that, my focus is on cool anime/chuunibyou fights and whacky adventurers, sprinkled in with comedy and horror elements alike. My favorite genres are probably corruption and magitek. Be it Dissonance-themed content or something else, or also breaking the boundaries of TS itself. After all, the World is just made up of data, yes? You likely won't see many political things from me though. But otherwise, I like to experiment! Rather than being stuck with the one thing I do, I essentially seek with each Challenge also something to improve myself. Together with you. While staying true to my roots.

You can also expect some loosely connected plotlines, but built in a way that zero knowledge is required from challenges in the past. It'd be more of a bonus, and possible interactions with NPCs. If there is one thing I absolutely hate, it's missing out on stuff because of exclusivity, so I try to avoid this as much as possible, too. Though these plots do ultimately depend on the actions of you, the player. A simple matter of 'Do you kill this person or keep them alive?'

Lastly, to maybe give a better picture of what kinda things I like, here's a list of a few obscure media I take inspiration from, among many others: Library of Ruina, Resonance of Fate, Blue Reflection, Ar Tonelico, Seinarukana, Tenra Bansho Zero, Baldr Force, .Hack, Kamigakari.

Also, before I forget, I see death simply as another instrument of story-telling. That doesn't mean I go around and slaughter people left and right, I'm way too much bark without bite for that, but I am also not going out of my way to save anyone.

Although perma-death isn't something I will force on anyone without making it absolutely clear that what they'd do ends up in that, and the player in question giving consent. Even if everybody continues to roll 1s. Perma-death isn't going to happen. We write a story together, not against each other. That doesn't give you an excuse for "plot armor" though.

What I expect of my players as a DM

First and foremost, communication. Communicating with each other is so so so incredibly important, and the lack of this is the source of so many bad things around us. Small and big. If you don't understand a mechanic, communicate. If you aren't sure of the contents of the challenge, communicate. If you aren't sure if you can do that, communicate.

Second, as mentioned briefly, we're writing a story together, not against each other. And for that, we have to engage with each other. Keep things fluid. Don't just react, but also act! If you provide me with something to act on, I will try and respond in kind. Positive, negative, it doesn't matter! If you stab me with a knife, I'll enjoy the bleed. For me, there are no "bad actions" or "good actions", only "interesting actions" and "uninteresting actions", and I hope you think so too.

Aaaanddd that's it.

And So We Go!

Hey hey, my name is Shibs! I have been roleplaying for more than half of my life, and immersing myself in various fantasy worlds for even longer. I've spent the better part of a decade creating unique settings, characters, and situations for fellow writers to interact with - watching these worlds come to life with the help of other roleplayers is such a thrill!

My challenges encourage teamwork, relationships, communication, and creativity - there is rarely only one way of doing things! I love putting players in trying situations, but I always provide the tools for them to find their way out. How they use those tools - well, that's up to you!

Preference
  • Content: Storytelling, Puzzle Solving, Teamwork, Exploration, Socializing
  • Player Group: Rookie - Intermediate
  • Difficulty: Easy - Medium
  • Party Size: 4-10

What players can expect in my content

I like to see my challenges as adventures that players join me on. Therefore, my objectives are often reflections of where we've directed our story together. I go in with an ending in mind, but I'm never opposed to letting you all take us somewhere else! I live for character development, teamwork, and the magic that comes from putting a bunch of talented, passionate writers in unique situations.

You can expect challenges that push your characters out of their comfort zones, but at the same time, give them the opportunity to do great things. Everyone who participates in one of my challenges is a valuable part of the whole, and I strive to give everyone an avenue to explore their character's potential. This often manifests in the form of puzzles and problem solving.

My favorite genres are adventure, mystery, horror, and drama - you'll likely see a bit of all four sprinkled into my challenges. I especially like elements that involve the paranormal, survival, and mythology of various types. My plots are typically more story-driven than dice-controlled (because math is hard).

Expect a lot of collaboration, communication, freedom, and fun. And probably at least one horse!

What I expect of my players as a DM

I ask that anyone who works with me does so with an abundance of respect - for me, fellow writers, our ideas, and the story we create. Working together can be difficult, especially with as much freedom as you'll see in my challenges, but being kind, understanding, and occasionally patient, is a must!

Further, I ask that writers stay in-touch with me during the challenge. If you have any questions or concerns, I should be your first contact. It will be a tremendous help if you warn me about missed posting cycles. I am lenient, to a degree, but please keep me updated. Also, if you have a specific request that might help develop your character, keep me in the loop! Development is my favorite, and if I can help your character grow/change through my challenge, I'd be happy to accommodate!

Finally, please remember that every player, and every writer, is unique! Use this to your advantage. Consider your character's masteries, vocations, strengths, weaknesses, and personality while you scheme. Then think about what YOU like, and go with it. My core belief is that writing should be fun, so I ask that you enjoy yourself. It sounds strange, I know, but I understand how crazy real-life can be. I recognize that Terrasphere, and writing in general, is something that you make time for. Therefore, it should Spark Joyā„¢. As soon as the challenge starts feeling like a chore, please reach out! I can't wait to work with you.

See you out there! ā™”

Think outside the box.

Hey all, I'm Lily.

I'll cut straight to the chase, I've been roleplaying for half of my life and am super big on 'What can this bring for my character'- I've always been big on fantasy-theme and horror-theme. I love puzzles that scratch your brain and situations that bring out weird results. In my type of world; nothing is impossible. You can do anything as long as you have a reason and method; which carries onto my DM threads and challenges. Although I might be newer to the DM scene, I hope to bring situations that you never thought would come about; and fun to any and all.

So let's go on an adventure together, where the only limit is as endless as the stars.

Preference
☾ Content: You can expect any kind of content, though I do enjoy a good puzzle from time to time. Almost all of my content will have some form of story-telling and character development. I also love horror themed stuff, so expect some of it to be that.
☾ Player Group: Any.
☾ Difficulty: Easy to Deadly.
☾ Party Size: 3-10.

What players can expect in my content

Content that ends up tailored to your character. In smaller threads, I will always try to make things for each character that takes part in it. Depending on the range of player skills, and how many of them are close to max, the difficulty will increase or decrease.

Death: I won't ever kill your players randomly, even in my most difficult of challenges. Character death should be intentional to an extent. If death is possible or unstoppable "unless you continue going and do xyz" then I will have warnings in my post. My job is to enable your characters to develop, grow and ultimately have a good time. That can't happen if I kill players left and right.

I use a variety of NPCs and they will usually be reused in future stories/events. They will never "take over the thread". Each person in my threads should feel like they are the main character, and are actually able to do things.

I use a lot of RPG mechanics in my threads as I am a fan of uncertainty. You can expect to roll dice, use abilities and mechanics in the game. I may also come up with mechanics tailored to specific threads/cycles.

Unexpected, plot twists, double crossing, crossing in general, psychological events, thrill, horror, puzzles, riddles, weird, cute. I eat up anything and everything, the more it puts you on the edge of your seat and the more involved you feel, the happier that I am.

You can expect to be rewarded for thinking "out of the box" (I've said 'out of the box' so much, so you get the jest of it).

What I expect of my players as a DM

Communication is a big aspect of who I am as a person, so you can expect that to carry into me as a DM. I will always be there if you have a question, or suggestion. If you can't post in time for cycle update, just reach out to me! I am always willing to accommodate as long as there is communication. If I don't know, how am I expected to do anything about it?

If you think something might make your character have development, let me know! At the end of the day, I want things to be beneficial and fun to you, that's how it becomes fun for me!

Please be respectful to me and all other players you interact with when it comes to threads and stories ran by me. Considering I'm new to the DM scene, it might take a bit for me to fully adjust and have things go by flawlessly as I envision them. Bare with me, and you'll be in for a fun ride, I promise.

In my threads, there is never a wrong answer. Give reason and steps, and you can pretty much do anything. I encourage you to always think outside of the box. Enjoy yourself and your writing, if at any point you don't have fun or it starts to feel like your at work. Let me know, so we can accommodate. I try to keep information about everything I have in mind written out in my posts, if you have any questions, again, please come to me. I don't bite =)

Now let's go on that adventure. See you out there o7

Do you desire power?

Hi there! I'm Kat the DM, and I'm basically new at this. I've been playing TTRPGS for most of my life, and I've fallen in love with the idea of being a DM many times over the years and yet never really had a chance to really try it. So, Terrasphere is my shot to fulfill my dreams, and I'm hopeful that all of you can join me for the ride, and enjoy it!

My content will be based on the DM school of thought that I do not want to kill my players, just give them a good, healthy challenge, while also using the RPG mechanics offered by the system to their fullest. Spice and challenges that you can expect will be fleshed out below, but the gist is that it's flavor first, mechanics second, challenge third.

If you're willing to take the chance on my inexperience and help me grow and learn, then I'll do everything within my power to make sure that you have a good time!

Preference
  • Content: Automonster & Regular Combat, Non-Combat, Investigation & Skill Challenges, RPG Flavor, Boss Battles
  • Player Group: Rookie Challenges, Spice All Levels
  • Difficulty: Easy Challenges, Spice All Levels
  • Party Size: 2-4

What players can expect in my content

I've started as a Spice DM, and will be focusing a lot of my efforts on running one-off and mini DM challenge style content for those who wish to make their threads just a bit more interesting. This content can encompass any level of player, so I'm not shy about working on anything from rookie content to endgame content, so long as it is asked of me.

Challenges are going to be beginner level to start, once I begin working on them. I will be trying to focus primarily on lower level, beginner, or players who do not have as much free time for posting to build challenges for. The old dogs and high levels have plenty of games to play, but as I am a slower person to post myself due to life's challenges, this seems like a fair place to start.

These challenges may have minor boss battles and some combat, but will be focused primarily on investigation of the world and surroundings as well as skill challenges that help move the story forward. Combat will be fair for lower level and inexperienced players, and will not in any way be intended to cause deaths, just a challenge where necessary.

What I expect of my players as a DM

I may not be your DM for a long time, but I'm certainly hoping to be your DM for a good time. I obviously want my players to have fun, but I also want them to challenge themselves and their characters with some critical thinking. I want to see character growth, drama, and change. I hope that anyone who undertakes my challenges can see their characters in a new way once the challenge is done, or perhaps have found new friends and enemies. Perhaps there is a new dimension in an existing relationship. Maybe love found or lost. Who is to say?

All that matters to me, is that we tell a good story together, one full of intrigue, flavor, and tension that everyone walks away from with a feeling of pride and accomplishment.

It'll be a ride for all of us, and I just hope it's a fun one!

Hayo~sho~ perma-newbie~ Plu here. I'm not really sure what to say here. Here's some stream of consciousness:

I like to think I'm clever and fun, I'm generally considered kind of silly as well. Beneath that I take fun seriously if that makes any sense; It's important to me that everyone's comfortable and having fun. My strengths are listening and being welcoming, my weaknesses are math and lots of competing details. When it comes to roleplay I like gamification, a community built around everyone helping everyone else do cool stuff, memorable moments, and laughs. My general aesthetic is "so cool it's stupid" or "so stupid it's cool", so overall I adore stylization and never take myself very seriously, even if the story itself is serious. I am also fond of dry humor and philosophy.

I'm not big on gore or sexual content, so we probably won't be dealing with 18+ content at all. Basically, I am a paradox that loves idealistic anime battles but hates violence, pain, and death.

Because I'm weird, much of what we get up to will probably not appear in canon. I like to think I'm pretty smart about finding outs in the schro-canon to ensure that your character's experiences won't be disorienting when compared with the main story.

Lastly, I can be a bit overbearing because I want to help. If I'm overwhelming you just tell me, I won't be hurt.

Influences: Metal Gear Solid, Armored Core, Movie Montages, Monologues, Westerns (Man with no Name), Easterns (Samurai Movies), Konosuba, Power Rangers, Type-moon, Dark Souls, Princess Principal, Nier & Automata, Lupin the 3rd, Stardust Crusaders, Log Horizon, A-Team (though I've never seen it), Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, Hot Shots Part Deux, Airplane!, Kino, Wandering Witch, Princess Connect, Dropkick on My Devil

Preference
  • Content: Heavily informed by trope-heavy movie genres. Typically some combination of: Action, Adventure, Thriller, Feel-good, and Suspense passed through a heavy anime filter.
  • Player Group Pref: Intermediate (I miss stuff, so I appreciate people who are familiar enough to help everyone involved cover for one another)
  • Difficulty: Bad at balance. Easy with high excitement is the goal. Dynasty Warriors: Terrasphere
  • Risk: Baby, expect lower mechanical stakes.
  • Length: I run out of steam quickly, so my goal is to be in and out quickly in a way that feels natural.
  • Party Size: 3-5, 100

What players can expect in my content

  • 1: Conversation is probably the number one thing to expect. I'm not shy about answering questions or explaining my intentions and I always want players to know what is going on, what to generally expect, and what their actions will mean when they choose them. There isn't likely to be a lot of mystery with me. You should never be stressed out in one of my threads, if you're stressed my plu-path abilities will make me feel stressed as well. No me gusta.
  • 2: What-ifs. I really like to explore ideas and am probably less big on character development. Even this post is a what-if, I may never dm!
  • 3: Mood-Heavy Cinematic Experiences. Tone is a major ploy of my writing. If the thread is described as an action movie, expect bombastic explosions. If the thread is described as a thriller, expect a lot of decision making. If the thread is Feel-Good, expect low stakes and the ability to try just about anything without narrative consequence.
  • 4: Low Risk. I added the risk category because I wanted to mention that you will very, very likely not have a character die in one of my threads. I will in fact go out of my way to keep you alive just so long as it makes sense (and sometimes even if it doesn't). I'd like to come up with alternative "failures", such as asking you to agree to reset a mastery or buy something you otherwise wouldn't from the shop if a thread has any sorts of stakes. These will always be mentioned before starting.
  • 5: Experimentation & Revision. I'm a bit overambitious and like to play with things, this will not always work out. I feel no shame reworking something in play if it isn't right, this will never be at penalty to players. My balance may also wind up wonky at times, but once again, you will be given clear tools from me to counteract it if needed.
  • 6: Pacing. This is my weak point and why communication is important. I have a bad habit of rushing things.
  • 7: Sci-Fi? For whatever reason sci-fi tropes tend to pop up in my writing.

What I expect of my players as a DM

Harmony, Teamwork, and Communication are the big three.

My threads are probably going to require a high degree of out of character discussion to maneuver in character. This won't be because the content is necessarily challenging but rather that it's easier for me narratively if there's a consensus to actions and a plan. It'd be good to think of the party as a squad, or a single organism, some kind of well-oiled machine made up of a series of specialized parts working in tandem to reach their goal.

Unfolding the Unknown

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... A stupid student that never really paid attention to mathematics classes spent most of the time daydreaming, drawing doodles and comics of epic stories that no one but a few curious eyes that sat next to this student would ever read.

This stupid student was me, and it was at some random part of my Highschool that I found a D&D Master Guide, making DMing TTRPG campaigns my very first RPing experience. After years of ForeverDMingā„¢, I've engaged in Forum RP so I could RP my own characters being part of the protagonists. But sometimes, even having a bunch of TTRPG to DM too, I feel my DM senses tingle, and that's why even here I want to bring challenges for you, the writers of the protagonists to venture on!

Preference
  • Content: Any, granted I do have an inclination to adventure and exploration, and I'm not very skilled at complex investigation.
  • Player Group: Rookie to Veteran
  • Difficulty: Easy to Deadly
  • Party Size: 1-100 (That isn't a typo)

What players can expect in my content

As mentioned above, my content can be any, but more often than not it will be specified in the Challenge Sign-up thread. Still, for clarification, I will elaborate a few of the contents I usually pull off, even if I like to put up a bit of everything. Ahem-

During my adventures and explorations, I usually try to bring them in two ways... The one is the typical dungeon crawling one can see in things like AD&D, with traps, challenges, and enemies appearing to bite your butt while you try to find the treasure or objective by the end of it, HOWEVER, I like to add quirks and personality to these 'dungeons', creating encounters and eventual interjections that are similar to those seen in Refrain no Chika Meikyuu to Majo no Ryodan, for example.

Another way I bring adventuring and exploration is in a lighthearted manner, the mundane one, where fights and danger are there but are mostly in the background. With the focus being seeing the wonders and uncovering the unknown with fantastic sights and discoveries! Something akin to Ryuutama.

Even more mundane challenges can occur as well. Things like simply going to fetch ingredients, or solving a small conflict that can be social or an actual fight caused by an ambush or an invasion. Yet, I can also throw things with grander schemes, even if they have no guarantee of being considered canon, which is completely fine!

NPCs and events that occur in my challenges can affect future ones too, and NPCs become recurring as Challenge arcs and stories are told. I love to recycle things, after all~

Currently, I am accepting items, skills, and abilities gained from Vesuvyan and Tarkya contents.

What I expect of my players as a DM

From my players, I expect them to embrace the challenge and the characters in them. Your characters are the protagonists of the challenge, but always remember they aren't the only ones there. I severely frown upon people that think their characters are more important than the others, and I disagree with any that thinks their character means less than another too. I do not care if your character is in TS since 1.0 beta, and I do not care if your character was created one day ago, they are all important to the same degree and I hope you, as players, can respect that.

Use these challenges and opportunities to develop your characters, because a lot of focus will be placed on them. Their choices will always affect the course of the adventure, so be aware of that. Communicate with your fellow players, IC and OOC. Communicate with the NPCs too! They will befriend or become enemies with your characters just like any other character would. Use communication threads to develop bonds with other characters, and when it comes to challenges and fights, use all your creativity. If you have something you want to do that isn't covered by mechanics, poke me and we can figure something out, there are Mastery and Skill Checks, and I think we can use them in our favor. Rule of the cool and all.

I hope we can all have fun together!

Frost...Wolf...
May the Wolf Smile Upon You.

To those who don't know my, I'm Shadow Wolf - commonly known as Shadow, or Wolf. Or the Walking Horror Nightmare. All depends on who you're asking.

Most TerraSphere players will not have had a chance to experience my Dungeon Mastering style (although, perhaps that will change soon), so I wanted to take a moment to break it down into simplicity; Fear. No, I'm kidding. Mostly.

In all seriousness, as a Dungeon Master I try and scope across a number of different spectrums, everything from happy-go-lucky adventures, to aggressive, deadly, and fear-based experiences. One of my key components when it comes to how I run my games, is what I call the "Realistic" experience (creative, I know). This means that although we operate in a fantastical world, there are still common rules, expectations and experiences that are bound to be - such as the fact that one is not going to defy the very basic foundations of nature without some sort of repercussion of cost.

Preference
  • Content: The content of my challenges/stories differ depending on the party, the challenge being presented and the overall atmosphere of the group; however combat, story, puzzles, out-of-the-box thinking, and any other number of requirements may persist.
  • Player Group: Any and all player types.
  • Difficulty: Easy, Medium, Hard, Deadly
  • Party Size: 2-8

What players can expect in my content
What should players expect from my content? Well, not what you are expecting, essentially. I'm a storyweaver who enjoys throwing confusing, sometimes illogical problems at players and watching them try and unravel it. When it comes to my challenges/stories, the one thing I can say is that if you think you've found the solution, you are likely both right and wrong.

Environment/Atmosphere
Most of my threads, events, challenges and general environments tend to hold a darker tone to them. While there are many that could be considered the "happy go lucky time", where everyone is goofing around and having fun, the majority of my ideas play into the darker, grittier aspect of life. This includes many themes that may cause concern for some players - something that will be outlined prior to the event itself. Should players have a problem with this, I do ask that they step forward to note it, and depending on the group's desires it may be left out. Note: At no time will topics include situations that are considered taboo in nature, nor will I imply/tolerate such behaviours. This includes non-consensual activities in any manner, regardless of player inclusivity.

Difficulty
I tend to run very difficult games in the sense that, I will throw things at my players that may seem impossible - only for them to swear later on when they realise they only needed to go through the door, rather than waste hours of time fighting that one creature; or they just needed to try talking to the big, angry thing to learn that it was having a rough time in life. I enjoy being the thing that people curse, but come back to because it was so frustratingly enjoyable - or at least, I hope that's the case.

General Feel
The one thing that I will say is that in my challenges it will seem like there's no plan, no thought prior to and that the entire thing is ad-hoc, or reactionary. While I do enjoy some reactionary elements, and will incorporate them into the play style, I do have a greater picture in mind in almost all cases, and although the journey there may be fluid, the finality usually is not.

Final Notation
All of my challenges, regardless of how easy or hard the difficulty may be, are designed around the concept of teamwork - in the sense that, no single character is going to be able to Kirito their way through the event, carrying everyone else on their backs. Working together is not only expected, but required, in order to succeed.

What I expect of my players as a DM
As a DM, my expectations of players are fairly simple. Be engaged. This can come in many forms, but the most simple one is simply, if you're going to partake…then partake. Understandably there are life events that affect us all - and those are not going to be a concern. The focus here is, instead, on those players who enter into a challenge/story, and act independently in a piece that is very clearly meant to be developed as a group effort.

Read. Read. Read. I'm known for the small details, which means that if it's mentioned in a post, it's likely there for a reason. What that reason is, may not be obvious - but sometimes it's worth investigating that random cup in the middle of a battlefield, just to see what it is. It might be nothing, or it might be a game-changer.

Communication is key; if you're experiencing something that you don't enjoy, or don't want to be a part of anymore - reach out and say so. I know for myself, I won't hold any judgement, although I may ask for clarification on what the issue was, so that I can assure it doesn't reoccur in future events.
