Kat lay on her bed staring at the ceiling. She would sneak the occasional glance at the headset that lay on her nightstand. The same headset that had lay there for over a year now. The game that had remained in her thoughts for just as long. The game that caused Ryou to leave her. The game she couldn't let go of, despite not even having played it. The addiction that held onto her long after she had actually touched the drug. It was the memories, the fun of the events that led to her being banned from the game by Ryou. The joy her character felt, was so real that she felt it too.
And yet a part of her was still scared to jump back in. What if Ryou was right? The game was in the news. It was regarded as dangerous, even banned in some regards. Perhaps she shouldn't have fought with Ryou over it after all. It was either pick up the headset and play, or pick up the phone and apologize. She needed to make that choice, here and now.
With a heavy sigh, she rolled over onto her side and her hand hovered near the phone and the headset, shaking, before she finally picked it up. Placing the headset on her head, she re-entered the world of TerraSphere for the first time in over a year.

Once everything started, she was still amazed at how real everything felt. She looked down at the kimono she had chosen to wear for her adventures in this world, and smiled. Just as she had left it. However, the bed she lay in was much harder than she remembered it being. She shifted on the hard slat covered by a thin feather mattress, and suddenly realized that this wasn't the room she had logged out in. Not that she had vivid memories of the guest room that she had in the Adventurer's Guild or anything, it had just been a basic low rank room after all. No, this was nothing but bricks and barely any amenities. The "bed" was a slat hung from the wall, and there was a toilet in the corner. The window had bars over it, and the door was... jail bars.
Her room in the Adventurer's Guild had been converted into a jail cell. Well, she thought her room, but she really couldn't be upset if they made changes with as long as she was gone. She slid off of the slat "bed" and made her way through the open jail cell doors. At least she hadn't woken up in one with a prisoner already inside, that would have been awkward. She just needed to find the administrator of this Adventurer's Guild station and discuss what happened. If it was a player, she was sure they would understand.
She turned the corner out of the cell, and nearly ran into the belly of a rotund man about twice Kat's height. She fumbled with her sleeve, realizing that she did in fact still have her hidden daggers, just in case things went pear shaped, and then looked up at the man, idly fumbling with her words, "Oh, sorry! I didn't know anyone was in here. I'm looking for the administrator of this building. I'm with the Adventurer's Guild."
"Oy, 'ow did you get in 'ere little one?" the man asked in a thick accent, "Ain't been no Adventurer's Guild in this place for months now. This is a Magia prison." He looked Kat once over again, before seeming to sense something about her. Kat's blood ran cold. Did he just say Magia prison? Kat is a-
"You a Magia, girl?" The man asked, roughly grabbing Kat's arm. She squeaked and winced at how rough his grip was, and he had grabbed the arm that had the hidden dagger on it. If the sleeve slipped too far from his grip, he'd see that she is armed, and that wouldn't help matters at all. "You is, ain't you? I can smell it. The Magia blood that runs inside you, ain't like human blood." He took a big whiff of her, but it wasn't all malice. His mouth almost seemed to be watering as he looked at her.
"Uh oh." Kat murmured, unsure of what she was going to do next as the man let out a low chuckle.
