Erick blinked in obvious surprise at her words. Sure, he'd been present at Camp Hope, but he doubted that he stood out from the crowd in any way. The way she said "you're the one" felt somewhat ominous. His awkward smile quickly turned into something more pleasant.

"I was there, yeah," he confirmed. "Did we meet before and I've just forgotten?"

 

[Rael]

"No, we haven't."

She remained quiet for a moment then, trying to subdue the emotions that were quickly threatening to surface the longer their conversation went on. "I was there, too, writing things as they happened. You are the one that summoned the beacon."

Rael reached out not to reclaim her tattered ribbon, but to put her mug of hot chocolate in his hand. Fumbling through her inventory to pull out her grimoire and flip through its pages, she landed on the specific one that recounted the events of that fateful day before long, flipping the book over to show him its contents.

"You are the one that stayed behind.

...G-Glad you are a-alright!"

He tilted his head. So they hadn't met, but she recognized him? Oddly, he hadn't thought of himself as the type to stand our, nor had he done anything-

It clicked in that moment that, yes, he had done something that stood out, and despite what he may have thought, it was apparent that someone had been paying attention. She said she was writing things as they happened... did that mean she understood what she saw? It seemed unlikely at a distance.

You are the one that stayed behind.

He nodded. After all, if he hadn't, it wasn't likely any of the rest of them would have walked away. And one out of three lives for all the people who got to live...

...G-Glad you are a-alright!"

Erick nodded and gave a warmer smile. "Yep, I'm doing just fine," he confirmed. "If you were at that battle, then I feel the same way. I'm glad you're alright, too."

Had she made things awkward for two people who didn't know one another? One might think so from the silence that lingers after he finishes speaking, despite the warmth of the player's smile as he, too, expresses the same sentiment she had but moments later.

She was startled back into reality by the sharp sound of a whistle, further increased by the wave of an elven woman's hand as it beckoned for Rael to come closer, her words barely reaching her ears past the reverie of something yet to start.

"Oh, that is an acquaintance of mine." She laughed lightly, awkwardly, shifting her balance between her heels and her toes before an idea sprung quickly into mind. Rael advanced a step forward, seizing with little force the wrist of the player that still held the ribbon, guiding him toward the meeting point. "Come, come. You can sit with us and then I can know your name, and how you did what you did, so that I may write the story appropriately!"

She'd settled into a spot with @Yugam, the pair conversing about Zalra, when a familiar voice caught her elven ears. She turned to look at the owner of said voice, catching sight of the redhead and the fake antlers he currently wore.

"Hey @Zel—oh!"

As the man came closer, speaking to @Vargold as he'd been, she suddenly felt the warmth radiating from the redhead. It earned a grin from the blonde, humming happily for a moment as she enjoyed the change in temperature, before Lúthien gave a thumbs up to the man.

"That's a pretty cool trick, Zel. This car gonna be nice and toasty all trip with you around~"

It was then @Rael joined them with one @Erick in tow, the blonde arching one eyebrow questioningly at the pinkett, before she smiled and waved asa the pair reached the slowly growing group within the car.

She was blissfully unaware of the special refreshments that @Nai had conjured up from the little shrooms, spared the possible torment of having to try one unlike @Erick and others—though it seemed there was one very willing faerin keen to devour everything the beastfolk had prepared. Whatever @Ludmilla‘s fate was after she stuffed her mouth full of the treats was unknown to the blonde, having managed to pull herself up and onto Blixem’s back before she got a good look of the hunter on the ground.

"That's great, babe, I'm so happy for you." The deadpanned look on his face contradicted his words, and it was then she noticed the clumps of snow along his face. "Whoops... promise I wasn’t aiming for your face—Blixem’s just too big for me to see."

The reindeer in question snorted in response, earning an apologetic smile from the elf before the ranger slipped off his back and walked over to @Yugam, extending a hand down to help the man up.

As Ash sprints away from @Rael, he shouts over his shoulder...

"Sorry not sorry!"

URAAAAGH! Go-go-go, Imma cover you. Get 'em good!

Kiryuu immediately grabbed @Rael and hoisted her up on his shoulder, making himself a giant target and absorbing an onslaught of snowballs as he charged toward the frontline.

Childress took the hits from @Zelrius gracefully, though she did think it was a direct challenge. And so, she leaned down and began prowling along the ground, waiting for an opening to retaliate.

Don't underestimate me, ya hear? I'll weather anything, sleet or blizzard or shine, just you wait and see!

The proud swordsman puffs his chest out, unaware that the critters that he had caught earlier had already slipped out and escaped into the Zalra wilderness. This will surely have an effect on the local trout population.

After scoring a snowball against @Luthien's head, Kiryuu turned toward @Yugam.

Don't think I've forgotten you, you're toast the next time I have my hands free!

She was surprised to see @Zelrius suddenly log out of the game, not even staying long enough to confirm if his snowball throw against @Vargold had landed, when a sudden batch of snow was kicked up and towards her face.

"H-Hey—ack!"

It was enough to knock the elf back, her ass landing on the snow as her hands wiped off the powdery snow from her face—spitting out whatever had landed in her mouth.

"You're not getting away with this, @Kiryuu!"
