"Second floor." The familiar voice caused the blonde to look behind her, vibrant strands of pink hair being the first to catch her eyes before she finally gazed into the baby blues of her friend. "I wasn't going to see him without you."
A mumbled "Thanks." tumbled out of her lips, hands curled on the strap that crossed her chest as an awkward silence settled between them. She could see the man glancing at both girls from the periphery of her eye, undoubtedly curious given their close proximity to the front desk, before Nico broke the silence one more time.
"Let's take the stairs."
"Mmm."
Valeria was more than happy to agree with a small grunt and a nod of her head, falling a few steps behind the pinkette as Nico led them towards the stairway. In another time and under different circumstances perhaps she would’ve dared to speak up once the door had closed off behind them, but currently the only thing still keeping the blonde away was her growing concern for Ari’s wellbeing.
A sterile hallway greeted them when they stepped out of the stairs on the second floor, the blonde mindful enough to keep the way clear as she kept herself close to the wall on their way to his room. Two knocks were the only warning that Ari was afforded before Nico opened the door and stepped in, followed a moment later by Valeria who quietly closed it behind herself.
The light back and forth that easily flowed between the two housemates was reminiscent of the times they’d spend together. It caused a faint smile to tug at the edges of her lips, before the silent reminder of Nico’s behavior towards her as of late quickly wiped it away.
"Val?"
"H-Hey you…"
She was startled out of her thoughts by his voice, carefully lowering the duffel bag to the floor at the end of his bed as she walked closer. The way he fumbled with the remote caused a faint chuckle to escape her lips, a slender finger pointed at the button he’d probably been looking for before she’d perched herself at the edge of his bed.
"Nico told me you’d been poisoned." The single text she’d received had been concerning enough, and that had been multiplied exponentially as the live location remained in the hospital for hours and Val hadn’t been able to get a hold of Ari or Nico on the phone. "I c-could’nt reach you and got worried so I booked the next flight and came over…?"
Her voice softly trailed off into a murmur as she spoke, fingers unconsciously picking at the edge of her nails as each word carefully hammered into her skull her anxious-driven actions from last night until now. Had she overreacted to it all? He seemed to be in relatively good shape now, perhaps she should’ve just been patient and waited back home…
