Lyrwick. When Ayna Nietzsche first heard about this place, it was touted as a beacon of industry. But all that was apparently from before a calamity that befell the region. A meteor, or something akin to a celestial body, made a violent impact on the nearby region of Norfova, forever changing the landscape of Lyrwick, whether physically or financially. Ayna had to see it for herself, and a part of her regretted wanting to when she finally arrived. For someone whose sole purpose for making the journey was to get some semblance of a foothold, even if just a start, in terms of business, what greeted her was less than merry. Or was it?
Maybe I can still make something out of all this...lawlessness. Even in the real world, the world she came from, Ayna knew how to turn a bad situation into a good one. Although most people assumed she was devout in her worship of laws, rules, and responsibilities, all that they had perceived was incorrect. Ayna simply valued her freedom the most, her freedom to succeed, and she was so competent, that she could bear all the unnecessary suffocation that her boring workspace demanded of her. Maybe this is how it was always meant to be.
But all that was from three days ago.
"Hey there," a grinning Ayna swung her lightning-charged polearm around, her preferred weapon that combined the best features of a naginata and a guandao, except the end product was slimmer and more aerodynamic. The alley where she had made her entrance was cold, dark, and damp, three things that she didn't appreciate together. And yet here I am. Anything for a quick buck, eh? She made sure the blade of her weapon, cold and sharp steel, clanged against the walls that sandwiched her and the three people, maybe four, at the opposite end of that narrow space. "I'm afraid you dingleberries have something of mine."
Without waiting for their response, Ayna surged forward, and in a matter of seconds, took all three men down. Like a flash of lightning, each separate fork strikes a tree in the middle. Of course, Ayna had help. The space was to her advantage. Unlike the three idiots, her weapon had farther reach. She was able to poke and electrocute them without risking her own health. She would do that some other time. Quickest buck I ever made.
Soon, she was back out into the streets of Lyrwick, in a small settlement she was just passing through. That was when she bumped into him. Or more accurately, when he bumped into her. "Hey, man! Watch where you're going! I'm walking here!"
