《⋯《 ⋯ ❖ ⋯ 》⋯》

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of eternity, it was the epoch of kindness, it was the epoch of violence, it was the season of giving, it was the season of taking, and then he forgets the rest. When it came to long-winded introductions, arguments that would win him a lot of money, Chrys was no stranger to writing and giving his best. The only exception, of course, was when he wasn't getting paid to write and give these introductions, these arguments, and when getting to the end would win him more money. Case in point: This thing about a mysterious mine of edible red and white ores. One would think Chrys wouldn't be interested, mostly because that sounds more like a child's fantasy, but one should remember that Chrys both has a mining company and a tavern.

"So, yeah, those would be very useful in both my business ventures. You guys in?"

When he pitched the expedition to his Golden God Mining Co. crew, it didn't take them long to agree. Of course, it helped that there were only two other guys who'd actually be going with him while the rest would be left at the tavern, where they usually worked, but that didn't stop Chrys from thinking his friends, @Ayna Nietzsche and @Kamala Graham, would also be easily swayed. After all, an adventure based on a story? Twas the season!

But Chrys had no real contact with The Crystal Nomads and he has never been anywhere near Zakaden before. It goes without saying that he's never seen the mysterious mine for himself, especially not the edible ores they'd be mining for. All that he had was a story from a passing adventurer, and he wasn't even the one who heard it himself: It was one of his lander employees at the Wicked's Rest Tavern and Funeral Parlor. What could go wrong?

When @Chrys first pitched the idea to Ayna, she was offended. How dare he make Wintersday all about him and his business ventures? What about the Mizar and its needs? What about @Kamala Graham's farm and its needs? When he hired her boat to deliver them all from Falderen to Zalra, however, her mood changed, and she couldn't agree with his stupid waste of time of an idea any sooner.

"Yeah, we're in!"

When the Mizar set its anchors in Zakaden, however, Ayna was mesmerized by their immediate surroundings. She's never been to this part of the game's world before, and although she's heard stories about how everything was crystallized, it was still pretty awe-inspiring to witness things for herself. Soft dirt still greeted her when she left the ship with the others, leaving her most trusted crew to take care of their vessel, but as they headed deeper into the region, the soft dirt was replaced by smooth, ice-like sheets of crystal as far as the eyes could see. It was, to say the least, an experience all to itself.

"I take it we'll be dropping by the Shining Outpost first? Or do you guys already have a set place in mind to start mining?"

With Bobbert the Blue-nosed Basseal honking respectfully on top of her head, Ayna hoped Chrys and his men were smart enough to do the former rather than just the latter. She might not know a lot about running a mining company, but she played in Lyrwick during her first few days in the game, and if she's learned anything from makeshift miners in that place, it's that without an actual map or stable site to mine ores, you'd end up months wasting time looking for a needle in a haystack. The outpost was their best bet to gather some much-needed information first. That's what outposts were for. I think there might already be mines in this place, too, but I doubt they'd have the edible ores he's looking for.

@Chrys didn't even need to second-guess Kamala's reply to his pitch. Of course, she was in. She was always in. She would never be out unless something actively kept her from helping her friends. Besides, it was the holidays, which means it was the season to be with friends and help others.

Kamala enjoyed their journey through the waters. She never failed to get excited by these trips, and traveling on the sea in this game always felt interesting to her. She was even more impressed by @Ayna Nietzsche's masterful sailing. And her crew! Don't even get her started on how amazing the lander women are!

"The Shining Outpost sounds like a great idea, but I've never been here, so I wouldn't really know."

She covered her ignorance with a warm chuckle, knowing full well the limits of her understanding in that matter. Kamala had spent most of her game time in Pormont, and although she's made a few exceptions for her friends in the quests they took, she really didn't know much about the rest of this world. That was why, when she first got off Ayna's ship, she took her time ooh-ing and ahhh-ing at the strange scenery of crystallized, well, everything! She really got her tourist on. It took almost getting left behind for her to snap out of all that bewilderment.

Petunia the Dire Chick clucked excitedly as Kamala held her between her arms and chest, not unlike a child would a puppy. Although it seemed a very uncomfortable position, the dire chick actually enjoyed traveling that way. Kamala had tried to just place her on her head, like Ayna did Bobbert, but Petunia didn't really like it all the way up there. If the elf didn't know any better, she would've thought the dire chick was afraid of heights. Maybe it was.

Chrys shared a knowing look with his men before responding to @Ayna Nietzsche's question. He also walked closer to @Kamala Graham for good measure and gave her a soft pat on the head. It was a gesture to let her know that her remark was still valid, having been in this place before or not. After all, she was in the same standing as Chrys. This was also his first time in Zakaden.

"Shining Outpost first. We'll need to establish contact with the traders there to get a lay of the land and make sure people know where we will be. Might also need to gather some recent news just in case."

Just in case something was going on that would make mining at this time very dangerous. Chrys was greedy, sure, but he wasn't so greedy that he'd risk his own crew, his friends. Besides, maybe someone at the outpost would know the perfect place to start mining the edible ores. In his head, it was the most genius of his recent ideas. Of course, the fact that he was exerting too much effort for something he'd never seen before and only having stories as a basis for this entire expedition invalidated that supposed genius, but a man had to pursue his passions, even if those passions would lead to his ruin.

Chrys' eyes grew wide with wonder when they finally arrived at the Shining Outpost. Something told him that this major trading outpost was once an old stone-clad fortress. His proficiency with Geomancy allowed him to guess as much, but the crystals that glued everything together were definitely something to gawk at. His eyes wandered from one refurbished building to another, noting how their interconnectedness only served to make them appear formidable together. Like a sort of allusion to the saying that no man was an island, only with buildings.

"Well... Here we are. Meet back at the entrance when we're all done?"

Chrys immediately set out to browse through the traders' wares, eager to get his hands on some rare Zalran resources that he wouldn't be able to get anywhere else. At least that's what his plan was. Who knows what hijinks the group could find here? Who knows, indeed. I don't know what the fuck I'll do with whatever's for sale here, and here alone, but shit here's going to be fucking cool, I'm sure.

Initially, Ayna was offended. How dare @Chrys bring them here with his men, only to abandon them to their own devices while he and his men do...whatever it was men wanted to do?! Then it hit her: She was free. Ayna was free from his presence, from his annoying existence, at least until they needed to meet up again once they were all done. More importantly, now she was alone with @Kamala Graham, which means only one thing: Girl Time!

"So, where do you want to go, Kamala? You want to go shopping? For some clothes? I could do with some light browsing!"

Light browsing, on Ayna's terms, however, was anything but. Even in the real world, especially with online shopping, she was a goblin. She'd browse and browse for hours on end and throw everything she could purchase in her virtual cart, only to spend the next few days suffering from the consequences of her capitalist actions. The only difference this time was that she would be bringing Kamala with her. Who knows? Maybe the elf can prevent the magia from losing too much money on too unnecessary purchases. We'll see.

Kamala wasn't entirely sure what to respond to @Ayna Nietzsche's line of questioning. After all, she's never been in this part of Arcia. She wouldn't even know anything about it. When @Chrys invited them along this trip, she never considered he'd leave them all alone, with just their two lost faces on their own. But then she noticed the way Ayna's eyes were shimmering, glimmering, sparkling, and realized there was only one answer to all those questions.

"I would love to go shopping with you, Ayna!"

And so they made their way toward the merchants and traders of clothing and silk, browsing their wares with eyes wide with amazement and bewilderment. Kamala had never been into fashion, at least not as much as people she knew, or at least that's what she thought, but she had an eye on fashionable apparel, clothing that went well with each other, and before she knew it, she had failed to prevent the magia from making unnecessary purchases, as she too fell for the spell of capitalism in cute colors.

"Goodness! Look at this selection! These would look great on you, Ayna! But this one? This one suits me! How much, fair merchant?"

The small, rotund trader appeared smitten by Kamala's charms and simply waved off the fee. Kamala couldn't believe it herself, but the man insisted. What else could she do but thank him for his generosity? She did promise that should their paths cross again, she'll definitely repay his kindness. If he ever needed anything, help or otherwise, she also invited him to her farm in Pormont, where she can be found most of the time.

While the girls were busy shopping, Chrys and his two men were running around, trying to mix and mingle with the festive traders and merchants, mostly the ones that seemed very interested in ores and associated trades, including tools for mining and even spelunking. That last part was a little weird, even to Chrys, but he simply shrugged it off. The more important task at hand was to find any news or information regarding recent mining expeditions in the area. Surely, someone knew about the stories from the Crystal Nomads about the edible ore mine, right? "Right, well, as far as I've heard, it should be around..."

"...here,"
the twin merchants, brothers most likely, finished each other's sentences, with the second one pointing directly on the map Chrys had brought, the same map he had just bought from them. Chrys squinted at the direction, and when the twin lifted his finger and took it back, the armored adventurer immediately marked where it had been with the letter X. X marks the spot and all that jazz. One of his men wasn't buying it, though, and calmly whispered their reservations to their boss. "You sure about that, boss? These guys look like fucking scammers."

"Well, it's not like we have other options. We've asked everyone else and they all just laughed at us."

Chrys whispered back before his second man, a smaller Beastfolk, butted in with a whisper of his own. "Well, to be fair, we're going to be risking our lives for something no one else has seen, let alone our source being secondhand stories we didn't even hear from Crystal Nomads themselves." The taller man frowned at that and bonked him in the head. "Oh, shut up, Gio. It's not like you weren't the first one to volunteer for this expedition!" Gio whimpered as he held his hurt head. "Ow, that hurts, you giant freak! I didn't know our source was stories! If I had known that, well, I would've still come along, but you know what I mean!"

The two continued squabbling behind Chrys, who was clearly embarrassed by his minions' actions. Despite that, however, he managed to maintain his composure, thanking the two traders for their help as he rolled the map. Bidding them goodbye, he turned to his men, bonked them both on the head with the rolled map, and started on his way back to the entrance. They already had their tools and everything else they needed, including tents and food. The next step was to set out for the location on the map.

Ayna wasn't surprised when @Kamala Graham got them both some free stuff. Even though the elf seemed to never notice it, she was in fact very charming. Regardless of whether she was using her Illusion Magic or not. The only thing that seemed to work against her was her own confidence. But I wouldn't change anything about her.

Back on their way to the entrance, where the whole expedition crew was supposed to meet back up once they were done with whatever they needed to do, Ayna couldn't help but tease Kamala, though she was very thankful that she herself was able to get things for low prices or even for free.

"We should do this again sometimes, Kamala! You're the best shopping companion I could ever ask for! So much stuff, all for free!"

Well, not all of them were for free, but they were close. Some of the merchants gave them discounts when they found out Kamala was associated with a farming commune. Others did the same when Ayna revealed that she had a fishing boat off the coast of Dunnstads, from where she sailed the Lament. Was it because of the season that these merchants were basically handing them their wares? Nah, it's probably just because we're two hot single ladies!

It was most likely just the season.

Kamala blushed at @Ayna Nietzsche's words, a little bit surprised at her implied compliment, though she really shouldn't have been. She was there, after all, and she was quite perceptive. She knew that her presence helped a lot in what had happened, in the blessing they received, but she would never speak of it out loud. It wasn't fair to tout or brag about her gifts, especially when she was using Illusion Magic to remedy her own perceived mistakes when making this avatar of hers. I should've made myself much taller, just as pretty as Ayna...

"Oh, well, I didn't do anything. The merchants and traders here are just so kind and generous!"

She gave her friend one of her trademark warm smiles, hoping to reassure her that that was in fact the case. Not just her, too, but also herself. If anything, Kamala was trying to make herself believe that there was nothing more to their good fortune than mere kindness and generosity, the hallmarks of this season. She had her doubts, had other theories, but intentionally buried them deep down so as not to ruin the holiday atmosphere. Fortunately for her, she then spotted @Chrys and his men walking toward them, to the entrance, with a bunch of stuff.

"Oh, hey, they're back!"

Kamala waved at them, her smile widening at the fact that they were now ready to do what they had set out to do. She wasn't well-versed in mining, or finding a mine of edible ores, if that even existed, but she was looking forward to learning new things and experiencing a new side of this game. Hopefully, there would be no monsters involved, but with her luck? They'd probably end up fighting crystal wolves or something. Please let this be a peaceful expedition.

As Chrys and his men made their way back to the entrance, the armored adventurer kept quiet. He was starting to doubt himself and this expedition. Maybe Gio's right. Maybe this is more trouble than what it's worth. He was so deep in thought, he didn't even notice @Kamala Graham waving at them until Ishmael greeted her with his usual loud and boisterous laughter.

"Oh, damn! The girls got here before us? You girls had fun? What did you girls do?" He just watched as Ishmael, the big burly macho man ran toward them excitedly, as if he wasn't a big burly macho man. Clearly, the girls would've gone shopping. It was a new place, they'd never been there before, and if he wasn't so focused on the mysterious mine with the edible ores, he would have done the same. Maybe not clothes, but he'd buy a few things for himself.

He was caught a little off-guard when Gio shuffled next to him and apologized. "Hey, boss?" The smaller man had his head bowed. He was younger than Ishmael and Chrys, so he was a little less confident and much meeker than them. "Sorry about that earlier. I shouldn't have questioned you and this expedition. Ishmael was right. It wouldn't have made any difference whether the source was stories or not. I would've still come along. You know I'd never abandon you."

"No need to apologize. I appreciate the difference in opinion. Makes me realize things that I otherwise would have missed. Thank you for speaking out, Gio. Your view is always valid."

Chrys offered the kid a smile and a nod. There was a time when he would've patted his head, but that time was long gone. It was, as if, another life and this new one didn't prioritize such foolish gestures. Once they were close enough with the rest, Chrys gave each of them a nod, especially Kamala and @Ayna Nietzsche. He let them know of the information they had found, and soon claimed excitement over starting their expedition properly.

"We now know where to start, and we've gotten ourselves enough supplies for the rest of our expedition. Let's get out there quickly, so we can set up our camp before dark."

And then they were on their way. Hopefully, those twin merchants were right. Edible ore mine, here we come! Chrys grinned the widest he has ever had in this game. You would, too, if you were going to get mega fucking rich.

Of course, @Kamala Graham was going to be so modest! She's always been too nice and kind to brag, even just humblebrag. Pride had never been one of her sins, at least as far as Ayna could tell, has witnessed, so it wasn't that surprising. She tried to give her another pat but stopped herself when the elf started waving at the approaching men. Welp, there goes our alone time... Hmph!

"Damn, right, the girls got here before you, slowpokes! Got all the supplies we need?"

Ayna scowled, crossing her arms over her chest. She stopped short of actually interacting with the lander man, letting Kamala do so if she wished. Between the two of them, she was always the favorite for such social interactions. Not that Ayna would ever want to switch places with her. The magia didn't really consider such small talk pleasant or useful.

@Chrys' shared information, however, was more than useful. At least now they had somewhere to start. She nodded at his sentiment to set up camp as quickly as they could, agreeing with that thought. They were in a foreign land, with foreign night creatures. They needed to be more careful with what comes out at night in this part of the world.

"Let's get going then!"

Ayna harrumphed and made way for the geomancer to lead them to their destination. If need be, she could also take a look at the map and provide some initial scouting. Just in case. She wasn't worried for herself or the boys, but if Kamala didn't want to fight so early... Ayna could just take all the native monstrosities out before they'd know what even hit them. Easy peasy.

Kamala chuckled at Ishmael as he excitedly went to them and asked them about their mini-adventure. She was even eager to reply and show them what they actually got. Kamala had never been so attached to material things, as she herself grew up in the real world with just enough. Her parents instilled in her to give more than to take, but some days, when she could, she tried to also celebrate herself with rare purchases that never go above and beyond her means. Today was one of those days.

"We did! It was super fun! Come, take a look at what we bought! So many clothes!"

They continued to laugh and chuckle and make small talk, all while @Ayna Nietzsche watched them. When @Chrys shared his information and directive, however, Kamala took on a more serious demeanor. Well, as serious as she could. She nodded her head toward Ayna when she expressed her urgency to set up their camp, to find their way where they needed to be. Kamala was determined to see them all safe throughout this expedition.

As Gwyndolainn as her witness, she would endeavor greatly to see them all complete and back out of Zakaden safe and sound. But first thing's first, though: They needed to move and set up camp. And so they did. The journey wasn't that bad, and Kamala delighted in joking around with friends, old and new, even sharing updates regarding Viridian Fields and its many farmers.

Once everything was ready, they huddled around the makeshift campfire, though they didn't light it yet, as there was still enough from the yet to descend sun. Soon, however, only seconds later, they would need to. Kamala watched everyone with a wide smile on her face, giddy at being at camp with these people. It wasn't her first time doing something like this, and she doubt it would be her last. It's all so cozy and nice!

With the assistance of Ishmael and Gio, Chrys found the perfect place to set up camp. They were still a bit far from the actual X on the map, but it was the closest they could go without losing themselves to the crystallized trees that separated the open area where they were and the actual location of the mines. The sun was going down soon, and they needed somewhere safer to rest. Pushing forward would be a great risk. None of them knew what could await them within the crystal forest.

"Should be a safe enough place to spend the night."

Ishmael nodded his giant head. "Yep. Anyone need a hand with their tents? Lemme know!" He laughed out loud before setting off to help anyone and everyone who sought his manly expertise. Gio just smiled, shaking his head, as he stood beside Chrys. Heaving a sigh, the smaller man stated his own task, "I'll take care of the wood for the fire."

It didn't take them long to finish setting up the tents, the campfire, and the rest of the campsite. Chrys lent his muscles wherever they were needed, and when the sun finally set, they were all huddled together around a fire that the two lander men had prepared. They had even started cooking dinner. Chrys wasn't that hungry, so he let the others handle it. Instead, he focused his full attention on the map, trying his best to make sure that the rest of their expedition would be safe.

Ayna did have a bit of difficulty with her tent but she still declined Ishmael's offer of help. In her mind, there was no better time to learn this thing than now, and although she was slow and even stumbled a few times, she was still able to finish setting up the damned thing in the end. Her way or the highway. She needed to learn anyway. As a real-life engineer, it would've been a tragedy for her if she couldn't figure it out on her own.

At the campfire, she sat next to @Kamala Graham and even enjoyed their dinner together. It was a simple meal, nothing too fancy, but she loved it all the same. There was something about the atmosphere, the experience, that made her feel warm and fuzzy inside. Maybe it was just because she hasn't done anything like it for a while, ever since she was a child. Spending time with friends had never been on her task list since she buried herself at work. I needed this... I really did.

When morning came, she was the last to wake. Ayna had enjoyed the events of the previous night so much, she continued dreaming about them and her body fell prey to an extended sleep. Her only hope was for someone else to wake up, hopefully, her cute elven friend, who may or may not be sleeping in the same tent with her. It's a free country. Or at least she believes that.

Unlike @Ayna Nietzsche, Kamala needed Ishmael's expert help to set up her tent. She tried to do it herself at the start, but after getting confused with the poles and stuff, it was clear that she was way out of her league. Thankfully, @Chrys' man was ready, willing, and able. When dinner came by the campfire, Kamala was happy as a clam, even though they had no clams to eat. Still, it was a very warm experience, and not just because of the fire. She mused her desire for everyone and anyone who would listen.

"I love this so much! We should do this again!"

Once they were done eating, and before they went to sleep in their respective tents, Kamala took out her zither and decided to play a few songs for everyone. Just to give everyone an extra boost of dopamine! As Kamala sang and played her tune, graceful swirls of green and white light danced in the air around everyone while phantasmal green leaves waft through the air as well. A sensation of gentle warmth and the smell of spring flowers rounded out the accompaniment to her song.

The next day, Kamala woke up earlier than almost everyone else, she had the honor of waking up Ayna who had slept beside her, in the same tent. She took her time fixing herself, preparing for the next part of their expedition, though not so much as to bother everyone else who was faster. To be a burden in things she wasn't even at the top of would be a nightmare for her. She just wanted to feel as comfortable as she was ready for what came next.

Shimmering Flats → Eve's Grove, Zakaden

Even though Chrys tried his best to focus on planning for tomorrow's journey, he did let himself enjoy @Kamala Graham's song. He wasn't a musician himself but he thought it was pretty creative and at most a good source of entertainment. It reminded him of a tune from a client in the real world, a cause of legal representation, though Kamala's rendition was better and less crass. He wondered if she was a musician outside of the game, too, but kept the curiosity to himself. Once this expedition was done, he'd have plenty of time to confirm. That is if he doesn't forget.

While the others slept, however, he stayed awake with his men, rotating watches between the three of them. Chrys was the first to take watch, then Ishmael, and finally Gio. In his head, it was a tactical choice and it made sense: Chrys needed to wake up first and had to be in top mental condition tomorrow while Ishmael also needed to be at his physical peak to help everyone else when need be. Gio didn't need as much sleep as he was the youngest of the three. He had way too much energy on a daily basis.

"Everyone ready?"

Chrys checked one last time before they set out of their cleaned-up camp in the Shimmering Flats to journey further into Zakaden. Their journey was bathed with a unique combination of colors, the result of sunlight refracted by the flats. Often, it was hard to look forward, as the brightness tended to hinder their sight. But Chrys did his homework the night before, and the nights ago, and soon, they found themselves at a large grove full of crystallized fruit trees. He took a moment to investigate the trees and their sharp branches, noticing sparkling gemfruits that run the gamut of colors. They were as beautiful as they were deadly.

"We're on the right path. Just beyond this and we'll find the mines..."

He took one of the gemfruits and tossed it over to Ishmael who almost dropped it, the boys oblivious to the presence of a predator watching them from behind crystallized shrubbery. None of them had high awareness, in their defense, and they were all too confident that danger wouldn't find them. It was a mistake, a glitch in the system. Of course, danger finds its prey. Doesn't really matter who or what you are. Not even where.

We better be. Surprising even herself, Ayna was able to bite back the words of suspicion that gnawed and nagged inside her magia head. While at first it did not compute, her hesitation to antagonize @Chrys, as she never considered his feelings on any such matters, she then realized that perhaps she was still reeling from the good time she experienced last night. It was only logical to think that because she was still high on dopamine, she found it more difficult to yell and scowl at anyone else in their party. I'll do both that and more when things go awry again, as they usually do.

"What kind of fruits are these?"

Once Chrys picked one of them and didn't suffer any immediate side effects, Ayna proceeded to do the same, her curiosity piqued by the strange crystalline fruit. Her question was of course directed to the only person whose answer she'd take seriously, @Kamala Graham. All of them were inexperienced on this side of the world, but if anyone had any idea about fruits and plants, it would be the elven farmer with her farmer friends.

Although her body made sure that she would not be able to share in the unique tastes of this game world, Ayna was still pretty curious as to how edible the supposed gemfruits are, if they were even edible, to begin with. Would they taste like rocks and stones? Or like salt and sugar? Can she use them for something else?

Zalra was suddenly becoming quite like an interesting place to her. Perhaps even the most interesting place so far. With her mind occupied with such curiosities, she, too, became oblivious to the predator in their midst.

Kamala was more than ready to continue their expedition the very next morning! She was so ready, she almost walked faster than the boys. Thankfully, she was quick to realize she had no idea where they were going and meekly walked back to where Ayna was, right behind the more experienced miners. Eyes wide in disbelief and awe, Kamala took in all the solemn beauty of the grove, though she was as confused as Ayna when presented with the strange crystalline fruit. It was too alien even for her.

"I...don't think I've ever seen anything like this before. Well, not in Pormont or from any other farmer I know. Is this even edible?"

Kamala gestured for the fruit to investigate it more closely, and when she got it in her hands, eyed it all over its entire form. She was just about to try and bite it, maybe lose a few teeth in the process, which wouldn't be a problem since she can just regenerate them or something, when she noticed something ominous stalking them from behind some crystalline overgrowth. Squinting at it for a few seconds more, Kamala realized what it was, though she couldn't quite believe her eyes.

"Goodness! Is that a wolf made of crystals? Is...it alive?"

And then she unfortunately made eye contact with it, which seemed to enrage the crystallized beast, enough that it slowly walked out of its hiding spot to growl and snarl at the party of lost miners and two girls. Oh, it is alive...and angry. Oh, no!

There it was. Just as @Kamala Graham had pointed out. Chrys had never seen anything like it. Not before today. It took on the form of the wolf, an already fearful predator for its cunning and savagery, but its luminescent white form betrayed such a simple description. Whatever this new creature was, it seemed to Chrys that it was one with the crystallized grove, an unnatural natural hunter of these wilds.

"Careful... We don't know what kind of creature this is."

He tried to discourage everyone to crouch down and keep eye contact with the beast, not make any unnecessary movement, keep calm and not make it any more hostile, and not give it a reason to attack. It was a tall order, especially with @Ayna Nietzsche around, but the fact of the matter was, none of them knew what this beast could do. It could break into pieces with a delicate touch but what would be left of it? Nothing dangerous? Or an explosive curse that turns everyone into crystals? Can't get to that mine as a crystal. Or can we?

As soon as she saw the threat of the crystallized wolf, Ayna grabbed @Kamala Graham and placed her behind her, scowling at the creature. None of the men were in a hurry to chase it off, too, and in situations like this, where an obviously dangerous enemy showed itself, Ayna believed it was best to attack first. There was no way in hell she was letting a game enemy hurt her or her friends allies. Survival of the fittest, or in this case fastest, and all that jam. Sorry, doggo, but you're not snarling at us because you want hugs, are you?

"Stand back, boys! Mommy's got this!"

Before anyone could stop her, Ayna rushed the crystallized wolf with her lightning-charged spear, using her dynamic momentum to boost her attack! The creature howled and Ayna screamed in response. What felt like an eternity of battle cries between woman and wolf only wasted seconds, with Ayna's spear stabbing the creature straight in its face. Excess lightning crackled all around them, all from within the magia, at the collision.

Ayna smirked in triumph when she made contact, already celebrating in her head. How could a fragile-looking wolf creature survive her attack? Her eyes widened in horror and her jaw dropped when she realized that the crystalline creature was still standing, panting, breathing heavily in rage, canine eyes glaring straight at her. H-how?! Before her mind could scramble for answers, she turned to where the blade of her spear was.

The wolf's face was mostly still intact, though there was a small crack at the point where Ayna's spear had stabbed it. With a ferocious growl, the creature took a bite out of Ayna's shoulder but she managed to pull herself back before it could completely chomp on her artificial body. Pulling on her armor to reveal the area the wolf had bitten, she was even more shocked when she saw it was...glittering. Her shoulder, the part the wolf's teeth had sunk into, was fucking glittering. What the fucking hell?!

"Don't let it bite you!"

Ayna quickly turned to her party, yelling her warning to them. It did not matter now that she was bitten. Whether she survived or not, whatever happens from here on in, she was going to drag this dog to hell with her. No one else must fall victim to its fangs. Just you and me, dog. Wo-mano-a-doggo!
