Getting into the playful Secret Santa game was perfect for Hanno. He loved to receive gifts, and loved even more to hand them out, so it was a win-win for him, even if it was to a complete stranger. A small smirk crossed his lips, holding a gift box excitedly and confident that the buddy he was paired with would love it.

Maybe way too confident. Something that showed on his face as he stood next to a giant, decorated pine tree, brimming with sparkly lights that left everything around it bathed by a warm dimlight, that shimmered the snowflakes that slowly found their way to the ground.

Truly, that was the perfect ambience for the perfect gift giving.

Why go that far only to gift a stranger? Well, why not? Aside from the fact they would probably think you are crazy or a bit creepy, depending on the point of view, there was no reason to not do it.

It was also because Hanno got too excited and didn't think twice.

So there he stood, confident, emptying his mind from any overthinking, now that he had went that far without thinking about it at all.

Nymoria looked up at the giant pine tree, her gift held in two hands, and a somewhat nervous look on her face. She'd entered this...event, or whatever one would call it, in the hopes of meeting new individuals. Which had just so happened to occur, for better or for worse. But as she stood there, staring up at the pine tree, she began to wonder if she'd made a mistake somewhere along the way.

The box in her hand was awkward, between its oddly rectangular shape, and the overall weight of it and Nymoria found herself constantly readjusting her hold. Slowly, as if in a daze, she spoke to the individual standing nearby, her voice carrying as much nervous energy as her expression seemed to be sharing.

H-hi...I'm...Nymoria...you must be Hanno...right? I mean if you're not I'm so sorry for bothering you, but I assumed...I mean based on what...I should say, hi.

As first impressions went, Nymoria was positive it was far from one of her best. Her box seemed to slide in her grip again, and Nymoria shifted her hands to get a better grip. A soft rattling seemed to come from inside in response, a sound similar to something akin to rocks being shaken in a jar.

Uhm...Merry...Christmas?

All the confidence Hanno held in himself somewhat faltered at the way the girl had approached him. The way she was all nervous, acting all sheepish while carefully offering the small gift, a moment after introducing herself.

Hanno couldn't help but suddenly feel a bit sheepish himself, but he tried to not fail, beaming a smile instead. "Hey there! Yeah, I am Hanno." He thumbed up. "Nymoria, huh? It is great to meet'cha." Hanno chuckled, handwaving the apologies and looking at the box that was offered.

For a moment, Hanno took the box gently, looking at it and smiling warmly at the raccoon girl. "That's nice- Merry Christmas to you too, Nym!" He was already quick to give her a nickname, offering the gift he had prepared for her, and gesturing it for her to pick it up. After the exchange, Hanno peeked at his gift, then back at her. "Should I open it up--"

Before he could finish his sentence, however, lights suddenly flickered, making the faerin open his eyes widely and look around, before suddenly everything went pure dark.

"WAH HAH HAH! Thank you, thank you~ I loved these gifts, my sweet Secret Santas~" A giggly squeaky voice echoed from above, with a shadowy silhouette appearing from the top of a building, with the only two visible objects being the gift boxes the @Nymoria and Hanno had with them.

"Oh dear~ Look at the time? Time, time yes, time to run away~!" She declared, with her cape billowing one last time before she darted off.

The lights then returned, with Hanno still puzzled and confused for a moment, before realizing his hands were empty, and so were Nymoria's!

"Damn it, that thief!" Hanno lamented, taking a step forward to start a chase, but interrupting himself to look at Nymoria. "I will go try to catch our gifts back, I'm not sure if you want to come, but..." He frowned, ready to dart off, regardless if she would come with him or not.

Nymoria blinked twice as the lights came back on, before looking down at Hanno's empty hands - her eyes widening with shock. It took the other pointing out that her own gift was gone, before Nymoria began growling softly.

Oh I am going to come and skin that damned thief when we find it...

She'd already pulled the Ice Claw dagger from the sheath on her left arm, glancing around with a frustrated look as she tried to figure out which direction to head.

Did you see which way the damned thing went? I...couldn't see a thing in the dark. Oh! Maybe I can smell something!

Almost immediately, she began sniffing the air, as if trying to find a trail like a dog. Her head swivelled back and forth as she did so, a scowl upon her face before she finally looked back at Hanno with a semi-defeated look.

I'm...not a dog, I guess. Although I already knew that...shit. Any ideas?

She was all out of ideas at the moment, but her dagger was still in hand and ready - determined to find a mark for it and get revenge for whatever had just occurred. And after I scoured the area looking for something that would be interesting...I'm gonna kill it.

Didn't roll yet, it may start with Nymoria

Hanno casted a glance at Nymoria, blinking a bit surprised at the threat in her words, and raising an eyebrow when she tried to sniff the air, waiting expectantly for a clue, while Hanno activated his Investigation Mode to see a trail and a prediction of where the thief could be--

"I saw where they went, but we must hurry if we want to catch up." Hanno said, beckoning Nymoria to follow up before he darted off as fast as he could.

He tried to rush, raising his eyes to spot the thief's silhouette leaping on the roofs, managing to make a reckless jump and landing on a narrow surface, casting a glance at the two and having a devilish smirk that was highlighted by the moon light.

Hanno gritted his teeth.

"Hey, stop right now!" He roared, trying to approach the building so he would start to climb it.

The Chase Starts!

Nymoria and Hanno are now engaged in a chase against the mysterious thief. They may make Fitness or Knack Contribution Checks to try and catch up with the one who holds their gift now.

However... If the natural die is 30 or below, you must make a DC 40+3d10 Reflex Save, to avoid an unfortunate obstacle or trap the thief may have left behind, such as steel spheres, fallen carts or not managing to jump over one roof to another. If you fail, the Fitness or Knack Check decreases the Contribution bar instead of increasing it, also receiving damage equal to the roll.

Your ally may forfeit making a Check to interrupt the damage you will receive.

At the start of every cycle (Hanno's post), the Contribution bar will decrease by 3d10, and if it stays on a negative value for more than two cycles, a different outcome will occur...

[ 0/300 ]

Upon finishing the bar, a new challenge will be triggered.
