Ruby remained with her head lowered even as Vina started speaking, introducing her to the events of five years ago. One of which Ruby didn't went through, only starting to play the game two weeks before its initial closure. She couldn't imagine the horror of them meeting the true meaning of the third death, something that Ruby only truly understood recently.
Before her own losses, Ruby thought it was just a silly lie, a rumor that lingered for years due to a game that was far from legality.
Yet the truth was that it was a death game, and as Vina spoke, Ruby felt the similarities. The overwhelming amount of deaths, the feeling of impotence, and... Everything else, truly.
The gentle pull, however, brought Ruby's face up to meet Vina's.
Her eyes were filled with tears of regret, of sadness, of frustration. And yet, Vina was there, showing her own weak smile, but overflowing with good intentions and sympathy. Ruby half opened her mouth to respond, but Vina rested their foreheads together, making her slip a sigh as her eyes closed, averting down before returning to focus on Vina's once again.
"Vina... I..." Ruby reached a hand to her own chest.
"I know... I-I know we aren't perfect, but still... I... I don't know, I..." It still hurted, it still felt bad, and above everything.
The tears began rolling down, and her 'free' arm wrapped around Vina's, while Ruby slipped her forehead away, to bury her face on Vina's shoulder, as her other hand remained against her chest. "I-I was so scared... O-Of losing all of them... And now... They were my first friends since so long, Vina..." She sobbed, feeling her heart squeezing.
"And I am... I am so scared of losing the few ones that I still have... To think... I can't bring those I lost back either, I just... I just can't, Vina, I just can't!" She lamented, not being able to hold back any longer and breaking down in tears when the heartache became beyond unbearable.
