Well aware of the risks, the man knew there was a point a risk had to be taken in order to progress in this world. Going back down if things got out of hand was always a strategy he kept in mind. If anyone claimed him cowardly Alonso was prepared to tell them off. Food, water, and a clear were all preparations he calculated. Of course, he figured he may have to start rationing if things began to get tense. Just be looking at the Ascent from a distance, it was obvious why the rumors began. Rough terrain, possible weather issues, and general monster attacks were out to get an unprepared wanderer.

Rolling his shoulders the man cleared his throat. The first slope up did not look too bad. Being built for physical activity was going to prove beneficial, or so he hoped. Hopping a couple times, preparing his breath, Alonso shook his head and took the first steps upward. Making sure to keep his balance, the Beastfolk veered his gaze side to side, and sometimes behind himself. Anyone or anything can be out to ruin his day. Even worse was the fact players had to outright take educated cases and quick observation to know whether or not an enemy was far too powerful for them.

Or shit happened and Lady Luck decided her chipped nail was enough of an excuse to make someone's life hell.

Sparse flora was dotted among the rocks and dirt. While none of it was considered a proper garden, these lifeforms made the journey less of a drag. As far as the man was concerned the new sights were enough to ease boredom and not be yet-another-plains-or-forest-area. Not that he minded those areas, but going through Astorea and Falderan enough and everything started to blend together way too much. Sometimes the places he had been felt more like a fever dream.

Taking a pause, he gazed out towards the environment below. He did not make much distance, yet the view was a good way to track progress. Looking back up, feline eyes started to wander to determine the paths available to him. Anything with an okay slope was fine so long as a slip-up did not mean he fell right off the Ascent. "Suppose if I find a good spot I can always log out there if need be," Alonso muttered. Shaking his head, he pressed onward in an otherwise lonely travel. Though knowing how this game worked, at one point he was going to meet an unexpected companion.

'Ain't this… Ugh!… A kick in the head…' Another sting of pain ran through the entirety of her lower body. Gritted teeth and eyes sealed shut in response to the awful sensation of… Something crawling under her skin. A couple of bloody and improvised bandages were tightly woven around the gashes on each of her thighs, preventing any further damage. Tucked away in a large fissure on the natural formation of Hylands, she cursed her recklessness and lack of experience.

Bonnie fucked up.

It was supposed to be a simple exercise to introduce her to more dangerous challenges and geography. Straying away from one's comfort zone was a guaranteed way to hone their skills, whichever they may be, and the fae was rather confident at giving this a shot. It had been some time since she had joined the game already — she had fought monsters, learned the basics of traveling and exploration and even trained under one of the best rangers in the game. As a result, she itched for something more and felt prepared for it.

Alas, it appeared lady luck had chipped her nail that day.

She formed a fist before opening it to summon her trusty UI. The ability to contact friends and other whistles was just a few taps away… 'What a buncha ugly faces…' Seeing the icons of their avatars brought a wry smile to her face. Alas, no way she could simply give in to that desire. Surely, some day, she would have no way to reach out to anybody, specially if she wanted to become a white whistle. Not to mention, she would most likely be dead by the time they arrived. In a way, this was also a punishment for himself, after all,

His sister had no one to reach out to either.

'Ain't no way in hell I'm kickin' the bucket like this… One mo' try…!' finding support on the rocky walls of the cave using her back, she stands up on wobbly legs.

One step. Keep going… Two steps. Like that…!

Three ste—

Suddenly, her legs give out and the blonde fell sitting on the rocky floor. The same pain spread like waves again — those were corpse worms, slowly crawling inside her legs and trying to move past the bandages haphazardly woven together to make a barrier.

'Fuckin' hell! Of all ways I could go…?!' Her pointy ears twitched as they picked up on a new sound. They were… Steps! A chill ran down her spine as she realized that 'that' thing could now be hunting for her on foot. In the span of a moment, her right hand swiftly pulls and twirls one of her revolvers, aiming straight at the only exit of the small, fissure-like cave.

Thud.

She could feel it approaching, a harmonious beat of loud steps and her own tiny heart.

Thud.

Her index rests on the trigger,

THUD.

A bead of sweat rolled down her face, and her eyes sharpened. This was it - - -

Except what appeared on her field of view was not that monstrosity, but a giant of a man instead. As light shone upon her gun, it glinted and reflected the light ray on Alonso's face, no doubt unintentionally catching his attention. Had their eyes met, it would only last for a moment. The fae's blue eyes widened as she gritted her teeth,

'GET DOWN!' Bonnie shouted to the best of her ability before pulling the trigger. A thunder roared and lead ripped the air, once, twice, thrice — had Alonso heeded her warning, the bullets would ricochet off of something behind him, something hard enough to easily deflect them. He'd hear the flap of wings, but by the time he'd glanced around, only a faint figure could be seen disappearing amidst the rocky landscape.

'Argh…! Fuck… It hurts…!' Another wave of pain, and Bonnie fell on her back. A mysterious enemy and an unknown individual in need of assistance. Truly, the Beastlord Champion had found himself in a high-pressure situation.

By now his travels lead to a more leveled out slope, rising into small hills every so often. Part of him figured his current trek was even possible back in the real world. Age did not do a number on him in reality, but he can last more intense situations here. And have somewhat of a gut with abs. Why the hell did character creators insist almost everyone have a six-pack? Whatever. Those were personal musings meant to bide time and distract him.

At one point his eyes caught sight of a small mix of blood and feathers. The man frowned, brows furrowed, maneuvering his gaze about the area. Something had happened here, and not the good kind that spawned a nifty gathering spot with a chance at a rare item. This was why he was certain he can attempt this trek. Alonso was not ranked up in his masteries as much as other people, but being at least B rank with a fresh new A rank became a vital park of his survival. His weapon and armor rating could be a bit better, but for now it was sufficient.

His large feet landed hard into the stone and dirt ground with every step. So far he had no way to determine what exactly the danger behind the evidence will be. Damnit. Progress may have to take another pause. Once again he caught the evidence of blood, stepping in front of an opening as he raised his head to see what was inside.

"SHIT!"

He crouched down and rolling to the other side of the fissure opening. He did not have much time to observe as he slid back on all fours, hearing the repetitive thundering of gunfire. A snarl escaped the Beastfolk as he managed to see the vague shadow of something heading off somewhere. That explained several things. Cries of pain alerted him to the situation within the fissure. Alonso rushed to his feet and gained a better view of what was going on inside.

Growls escaped the giant's throat, attentive now to how dangerous the scenario had become. His massive frame took up much of the space inside, but he figured a fresh, more durable body being a more prominent target was a more desired factor. The man slid down to one knee, reaching out to place a hand under the Faerin girl's head. "What happened?"

Alonso's eyes raced up and down her body, noting the bloody bandages. A sign she at least held some priority in survival. But the severity of it sent a chill through the hairs of his body, the feline barbarian growing more protective. "Do you know what's wrong? I can heal ya a bit if that's all it takes." His free hand became surrounded in bluish, spiritual energy, almost akin to a flame without the heat.

'Heh, ain't this a hol' in the boat? Thought I'd kick the saddle right herre pardner… Ugh…' Seeing someone else's face in person had rekindled hope somewhere within her. Bonnie noticed how his hand dwarfed her head, and she guessed the man was kind, far too kind. No matter, she had indirectly put him into danger now — there was no time to cry like some baby. They both had to get out of here. With the support of his hand, she pulled herself up again and sat up straight.

'I've got some nasty [corpse wurms] in my thighs. But if ya can heal, then we got a way outta this. I'm gonna be pushin' em out. When I do that, ya cast the healin' befo' they get back inside, gotcha?' she'd wait for confirmation before letting out a genuinely desperate chuckle, as if trying to steel her resolve. Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. The blonde removed the bandages, revealing rather serious wounds; below her skin, there were visible bumps trying to move past the bandage around her upper thigh.

Bonnie set her gun to the side and bit her lips before nodding to the large beastfolk. 'Aight, here we goin'…!' she rubbed her palms together, reinforcing her resolve and preparing herself for the pain ahead of her. A golden glow manifested itself on her palms, though it was no arcane art — it was a type of energy Alonso should be familiar instead, martial energy. She tightened her palms… Gritted her teeth, and held back the tears begging to flow down her face.

In one swift strike, her palms hit her legs with great strength, releasing a wave of golden energy that pushed at least four of the disgusting creatures outside.

'NNNNNNNNNGNNNNnnNNAAAAAoooOOWWW!' In her mind, she cried. She screamed and begged and pleaded and apologized to the heavens to just finish this already, but in reality, she had only released a pitiful and soundless cry of pain. Overwhelmed to the point her voice could not resound past her throat, she waited for his healing miracle to close the wounds.

Before now he had no experience with corpse worms. In fact, this was the first time he heard of them. Yet the concept was simple after he put together the clues. Parasitic in nature, with this Faerin claiming she can push them out while the Felis healed up the wound. "Good to know. I'm not built to heal, but that's easy enough," he said, keeping a stern gaze and focused on the area where the worms infested. Alonso preferred if they had a proper healer with actual knowledge, but he had to make do.

Adapting with the tools he had at his disposal was one of the main factors he considered before coming up here, after all.

Even though his intentions were kind, that stoic gaze hid any sense of concern. It was just how he was around strangers, and he knew that panicking will only make things worse. Inward his heart was pounding at several beats per minute and knew a less power fueled setting might have given him a heart attack. This world made the Felis comfortable in his power, however, preferring to use it to his advantage in dire situations such as this.

Golden energy reached his eyes as the injured stranger unleashed martial energy to push out the worms. Though similar, he knew his version of martial arts was just brutally crushing his opponents compared to using some mystical ability. But that was what spiritual magic was for.

Alonso did not have time to consider further. The damn parasites were pushed out with Bonnie in much more pain than before. Placing his energy covered hand on the wound once the worms were out, the bluish energy enveloped it in a fiery swirl before the wound closed up. "Almost got it, hang on just a bit more," Alonso said, glaring at the corpse worms.

He hated these things already. So much so that once he was done closing the wound with his spirit magic his free hand grasped at all four parasites, which squirmed around in his hand. In a fit of rage, he slammed his hand into the wall behind him, pinning the worms. His spiritual energy caused his eyes to glow and exude the same energy, and with a snarl pressed his hand against the worms further, causing his magic to explode and the parasites wailing before crumpling over, dead.

The man sighed, calming down as he let those small bastards fall to the ground. Alonso looked back at the Faerin, ready to continue. "How are you feeling? Are there anymore left?"

A long and drawn out sigh of relief escaped the fae's mouth as her newfound ally had put a stop to her parasitic suffering. 'Ain't none left. Ya have my thanks pardner, I owe ya one big time. Name's Bonnie, and Imma make it brief cause that thing could be back real soon.' the cowgirl stood up after picking up her revolver and her absolutely stylish hat. She… Wanted to log out. Right then and there, no explanation, no anything. Give it a couple months, and surely another group of travelers would take care of… That thing. Then she could return and resume her fantasy of mighty cowgirl in a world clearly not meant for her ilk.

Even after having gone through a few of the 'wonderful' experiences Terrasphere had to offer, sometimes these desires — spineless in nature as they were — still resurfaced somewhere in her heart. Bonnie and her real world counterpart weren't built like your average Terrasphere player; she never really played it out of enjoyment, or fulfilling some fantasy, but rather, as a warped sense of duty and punishment.

Alas, the goliath of a Felis that had just saved her life had nothing to do with it. What if he was another one of the UI-locked players? Could she turn tail, run, and live with another life lost weighing on her shoulders?

'Aight. I think we got two options here; we either fight it, or we git the heck out as fast as possible. I'm all for trynna run from it, but I got them wounds from doing that, so…' The blonde looked upwards, arms on her hips and weary of what might come from above. 'Ya look more experienced than meself. Whatcha think? The blam-jam who did a number on me was a harpy, but…!!'

'̸A̷A̴a̷a̸A̶H̶A̵A̴A̴H̴A̵A̶A̸K̵H̸Y̷A̷A̴W̴w̶A̵A̶A̸A̸A̶A̴A̶a̴H̶A̷H̵A̵'̶

A distorted cry comes from above and a chill ran down the cowgirl's spine, 'SHit shit SHIT SHITSHITSHIT WATCH O-' and as if the weight of atlas had decided to crush them, gigantic talons crash against the top of the small cave, bathing it in the light of a clear sky and the dust of crumbling stone. Bonnie had managed to leave the fissure unharmed thanks to her diminutive size, but her eyes scanned frantically for the silhouette of the leonine felis.

'Ayo old man, where are ya?! Old man! Fuck!' as the dust settled, the nightmarish creature is at long last revealed.

zOXry6Eh_o.png

[Stand up, Be Strong]

A distorted caricature of life, devoid of its shine. Flesh exposed, a creature that had been long dancing inbetween the boundaries of life and death. Even the act of standing upright with its massive body was a challenge, as numerous corpse worms pulled together flesh and bone to make a semblance of something once, or perhaps, still alive. Before them was a creature that had gone above and beyond to adapt, to live to evolve and survive. It's jaws widened, revealing sharp teeth and a sense of elation for having finally found its prey. Its wings were a mix of mutated flesh, feathers and perhaps the most disturbing part — other harpies, all mixed together as one.

'EEEEaAAaaAaaaAaKH!' The flap of the corpse queen ripped off some of her brethren from her wings, which promptly dragged themselves along the rocky ground, clawing their way towards Bonnie.

'Imma handle the small ones! Dont'cha let that freak open a wound on ya or ya'll end up like me!'

He looked the Faerin over once more before standing back up to his full height. There were no other signs of unwanted, moving bumps as far as he could tell. A temporary relief as any number of creatures might have smelled blood from a wounded creature. With a nod he replied, "I'm Alonso. In full agreement we don't have much time, and I'd prefer not screwing around here in general."

Saving Bonnie was more of a priority than ever if there was something after her. Options were few, and either they made a rush back down the Ascent or hoped for the best and continued upward. Both, unfortunately, had pros and cons to them since the dangers were on equal footing with each other. The Felis growled a bit as he was told that running was no use, as that attempt was what got Bonnie in first place. "Damn. If we run I can at least carry ya if need be." But his thoughts were not allowed time for further decisions.

The cry of a monstrous creature forced his ears to perk up attention, a snarl escaping the man's throat: and a vicious one at that. Up above the ceiling was torn apart and forced to collapse by the attacker, Alonso's size making it difficult to escape the debris. Massive arms rose up to protect himself as he hunkered down. "DAMNIT!" It was all around him, and his chance of escaping out the front was more or less none at this point.

The calls of his smaller companion rang into his ears. No. He had a purpose here, and that purpose was not going to be ruined by some abomination's visage. As Alonso looked up at the amalgamation of harpies and flesh was ingrained into his memory. His breath hastened, a rage writhing inside of the giant Felis. This thing was not allowed to think itself dominant over him.

A strong swipe slashed over his shoulder, cutting part of his chest but otherwise holding on, the man's eyes glowing blue entirely with the same, spiritual energy he used before. He unleashed a loud roar as his Battle Spirit was activated, the already giant of a man growing larger, hair and beard extending into a wild mane. All around him his spiritual energy blazed forth, Alonso's berserk state in full swing.

Leaping up out of the now collapsed cave, dust flying everywhere, he shot towards the Corpse Queen and brought his hands together. Alonso raised a cuffed fist above his head, slamming it hard down towards the abomination's head. "UUURRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!"

‘EEAAAAOOOWAAAAAH!’ It appeared that drowning on her own inflated ego for having found her prey was a fatal mistake on the Queen’s part. Unaware of the possibility of someone so large being so fast, the corpse harpy failed to dodge in time, and Alonso’s double hammerfist connected with a resounding crack of bones and tearing of flesh. The monstrosity clenched its teeth and pushed its mighty talons off of the ground however, standing tall, powerful and gigantic as was expected of majesty. Its rotting eyes focused on him and the amount of commitment behind such a powerful blow - in that moment it became clear that - - -

Both of them had made a fatal mistake.

The harpies on her back lunged around the queen and then forward, several arms pullling and grabbing and scratching and piercing any flesh within their reach. With Alonso now tightly on her grasp, the giantess took off and the flap of her wings generated a sonic boom that put Bonnie’s gunshots to shame. Once they were several feet high up in the air, the queen’s distorted smile widened in yet another nasty grin before she began diving down towards a rocky grave awaiting for him.

Meanwhile, Bonnie jumped left and right, back and forward in order to avoid the two crawling harpies trying to take her down with claw swipes. ‘Fuck the hell off ya lot!’ Another chill ran down her spine as she noticed the felis and the monstrosity shoot high up in the air, but she couldn’t do or say anything just yet — one slip, and she’d end up just like last time.

One of the two harpies had decided to take its chances, however, they pushed farther than they should - their combined attack with their severed wings had managed to land a blunt hit on Bonnie’s leg, but left themselves open. As the blonde hit the ground, she rolled and aimed straight at the exposed harpies;

The glint of her revolver was the last thing they would see, as the bullets ripped through the air and pierced their heads dead center.

As his feet slammed into the ground, he moved his arms to get into a combat stance. He was slow on the uptake, however, the Corpse Queen's wrath not over yet. The myriad of swipes and claws darted across enlarged muscle, jamming into the now titan of a Felis and preventing him from moving. Snarls and roars rushed from Alonso, the fire like energy from his eyes dancing about his his head and body flailed. Rising into the air, the queen's grin began to taunt him. So much so that the more he started into those abominable pupils, the more it angered him.

The Beastlord Champion only grew defiant.

His monstrous back soon crashed into the rocky hell below. The man's entire body tensed up, and while a less sturdy warrior might need to lay down for a few days at least, he felt nothing. In fact, the spiritual energy flaring around him only grew violent, reacting with his berserker like state. "YOU. WON'T. STOP ME!" Going in for a strong headbutt, he made efforts to use it as a chance to hunker down and tear this bitch off of him with his terrifying strength. Power he grew to thrive in and accept with a ferocity worthy of being called a Beastfolk.

Once he managed that, the man charged forward to try and tackle the Corpse Queen into a rock. If that worked, Alonso will started to deliver punch after rock crushing punch in a ceaseless flurry at various parts of the queen's body. By now his enhanced battle forced his yells to become roars instead.

Unbelievable. Impossible. Disgraceful. A mighty crash boomed as the queen had landed with her prey on the ground, yet this abominable sack of living flesh just refused to die. The grin on her crooked, monstrous mouth disappeared as she roared at him, as though commanding the respect a royal ought to be given — but she was given a headbutt instead. The combined force of the beastfiolk’s initiative and powerful push forced the Corpse Queen back onto a large rock where mighty fists crashed against her rotting body.

‘AAAAAAAAAGHHHAAAAAAAAAR’ Damn this creature. Another fist, another punch. Damn the day she became a host for these worms. Another crash. Damn anything still breathing! Another crash. Why was she the only one having to suffer through this?! As his punches ruthlessly landed on her body, the queen had grown unresponsive. This couldn’t be the end. No. This was the beginning of her rule, the first step among many until she could turn the world in a rotting carcass, just like herself!

The worms on the queen’s body emitted an ominous crimson glow, and a hissing loud enough to be heard over the sound of his fists filled the air.

‘EAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!’ It only took the mighty push of one of her talons. The air cried as the sheer weight of her push redirected the kinetic force of his punches back at him, as well as her own push — all at once. An explosive dust cloud spread across the entire area and Alonso was sent careening down the filthy hole she had found him, hiding like the rat he was.

‘FuuuuUUUUUCK!’ the dust wave crashed against Bonnie, yet she continued pulling the trigger. The thunder of her guns resonated against the mighty steps of the approaching Corpse Queen; in a moment, the blonde unloaded her bullets on the creature,

And on the next, she was sent flying akin to a ragdoll much like the beastfolk.

As the dust settled, ‘AAAAAAAAAAAAAEAAARGH!’ the glowing worms on the Queen intensified, pulling and flexing her muscles to the absolute maximum. Her wings stretched, pulling the corpses of the previously defeated harpies to heal herself. Rotten pupils lock onto the duo again. No grin adorned her face this time.

It was the final push before the victor was chosen by fate.

In his fury, the man failed to spot his prey's retaliation. All of the kinetic energy between the two released in a dangerous burst, Alonso soaring back down the hole he found his companion! The man's back collided with the rock wall down there, alternately colliding with the opposing wall on the way down, with a less than desired result. His entire body was wracked with pain, a groan escaping him once he landed. The titan of a Felis's chest heaved with his breath, head swinging back and forth.

He was on his last legs. Even within his own berserker status, he saw his health bar flash indicating the danger he was in. Without a proper healer this will likely not end well. But then, he cannot just lay there and die. Bonnie's cursing also rang in his ears, forcing an instinct to crop up within the Beastfolk.

If he remained there, helpless as before, both of them will die or worse.

With a snarl the enlarged berserker felt his beaten frame creak as he got up. He wobbled around a bit, his large hand slamming into the wall. From there he made the difficult climb up. His entire body was wracked with pain, one arm rising up after the other, glowing eyes filled with his purpose. The lion's prey up above still needed to be taken down.

Once the man arrived at the top, he snarled as his blurred vision noticed the so-called queen among the dust. Alonso pushed himself up and stumbled to his feet. "You ..." He pointed his finger at the Corpse Queen before lowering it and rushing at her. The bestial man reared back his massive arm ...

... and then missed, stumbling forward and onto his hands and knees. Alonso groaned in pain again as his battered body shuddered, breath shivering as he tried to keep himself up.

"KID," he shouted, "GET. GOING!" If he can at least be a distraction that was all he needed. But he was still determined to finish the task. A determination so great his entire, titanic frame flashed a more fierce, spiritual energy as he stood back up.

And in another burst of bluish energy, he swerved his horribly battered frame around to grab the Corpse Queen by the neck. "YOU WILL FALL TO THE BEAST'S HUNT!"

((Background Finisher Music))

Alonso will toss the queen into the air with force, leap up, then grab her and snap his prey over his shoulders, as he landed, but he was not done. "PRIMORDIAL-"

With the corpse monster still grabbed, he leapt into the air, summersaulting in the air as his grip changed to piledriver, crashing his target into the ground with the ground beneath cracked from the assault. "LEO-"

Hopping to his feet and tossing the Corpse Queen into the air in front of him, he reared back again with his entire body whipping out an even greater amount of bluish, fiery energy and sent his fist flying forward. "HAYMAKEEER!"

When that destructive punch landed, he made an attempt to slam the Corpse Queen right back down from where he originally came. As far as the Beastlord Champion was concerned, the Ascent belonged to those who were not tyrants or villains. Those who were not her.

Every fiber of her rotting muscles flared at once as that damned beast still would not lay down. When? When would it learn its place was meant to be below her, where she had sent him back? Those beneath her were meant to be food. The worms that she had forced under control. The kin she had taken care and raised and even the blonde elf — and this man included.

Her massive talons stomped against the rocky ground beneath her, and it cracked under her command as rough, serpentine fissures were opened. Had her life been in vain? Would his efforts amount to nothing? As the blue-maned beastfolk advanced one last time, those questions faded away into the flow of their fate.

The proverbial countdown ends, and both take their initiative.

Her gaping maw, ready to tear him apart, was intercepted.

The cacophony of flesh and undead on her wings claw at him again,

The sharpness of their attacks sunk deep into his flesh, yet he did not stop.

Below them the ground rumbled, and the fissures grew wider and deeper. As if to mock her royal-given title of queen of the harpies, the Beastlord champion launched the corpse queen into the skies before snapping her over his shoulders, landing with a mighty thud.

‘GYYYYEEEAAAAH!’ No. Not yet!

A crescent motion of flesh and bones is drawn in the air by its wings, as she retaliates against Alonso one last time, attempting to pierce him with a massive bone sticking out of her right wing. The crack and thunder of gunfire resounds, and the bullet blasts off the wing with a swift, brutal shot. In the distance, a wounded but still standing Bonnie had her gun pointed at them, smirking at the sight of a ‘Queen’ about to get flattened.

The world turned, crashed, and the clock ticked once more for the monstrous creature within his grasp, and as the fiery blue spiritual energy burst forward, the worms at long last relieved the queen from her suffering.

His haymaker landed with a massive flare of spiritual energy, vaporizing the worms before they could even make their escape. Without their support, the undead flesh gave way to the might of his fist and the Corpse Queen was no more, sent flying down from whence the Beastlord had trudged his path until now.

As the corpse queen rolled off of a precipice and fell down the great heights of the Hylands Ascent, it finally stopped.

The screaming of her kin within her mind, ceased.

The parasitical agony tearing her muscles, gone.

The endless pain of servitude, ended.

Thank you.

Just as the blue-maned beastlord could catch his breath, however, the rocky ground beneath him gives one last ominous crack of warning before the impending doom.

The effects of their massive attacks have at long last taken their toll on the environment, and the rocky surface in which he stood gave away, sliding down the the cliff side.

Before long, the giant of a man finds himself with no footing and no way to push himself up again, fated to fall much like his enemy.

“Hold the fuck up down there, pardner!” the voice of the blonde he had saved rang out amidst the rolling boulders, and a golden flash shot past him — some kind of arcane cloth enveloped the large felis, preventing him from falling to his doom. Should he look up, he’d notice Bonnie floating with a massive albeit wonky looking arcane imitation of a parachute.

‘It ain’t yer time to get a kick in the head yet, my guy! Hold on!’

Riding the winds with a destination unknown, the two of them had the picturesque sight of some of the Hylands before them. The wind was somewhat chilly, and landing was definitely another matter entirely, but they were still alive and kicking. But the world was cunning — It always watched and waited. They were travelers, but despite bearing the title of Starcalled,

They always fell.
