Bright light shone through the glass doors, the pair having forgotten to pull the curtains closed in their drunken stupor. The harsh light burned Ari's eyes as they fluttered open, forcing him to squint as a dull thudding pulsed in his head. The man groaned and lifted his arm to cover his eyes, shielding them from the searing light. Not that made the throbbing pain in his head abate.

It took a few moments before the man became fully aware of the weight across his chest, a body wrapped around his own. The man dared to lift his arm and brave the malicious light to glance at the blonde still peacefully snoozing away. The man's head collapsed back onto the pillow, his arm returning to it's guard as the man groaned. "Fuck..." The expletive was thanks to equal parts pain and recalling what had transpired the night before. The last word's he'd said still rang in his head like a church bell. So loud and painful it actually felt like he'd stuck his head inside a church bell.

Save that for someone else. Someone you love.

Ari wasn't sure if he should pat himself on the back for his restraint, or kick himself in the ass for not just giving in to his most basic desires. Who in the hell said no when a shot like that literally dropped itself into his lap!? It was official, the man was losing his mind. Seeing visions in blood, following mysterious red threads of fate around, bringing back Mei in the form of a sword-spirit. Yeah, all of that paled in comparison to what his dumbass had chosen last night. What a joke.

She had dozed off without realizing it, her face nuzzled against his neck as she breathed his scent. It was sweet and comforting, it felt familiar even... though the girl knew that was impossible. She had never seen this man before in her life, and yet somehow it felt like he'd always been in it. A soft and incoherent mumble left her lips when the man stirred besides her, raising a hand to guard his eyes against the sunlight that seeped into the room.

Her arm laid across his midriff once more, softly tightening in response as the girl snuggled closer—seeking the warmth of his body. Her back faced the sliding doors, a blessing for it meant her eyes were spared from the harsh sunlight that filtered through the glass. For the most part she had remained in the same spot that she had crawled into the night before, the only difference being a single leg that was now straddling Ari's own as Valeria continued to doze.

Valeria stirred gently, mumbling something incoherently as Ari lay beneath her. The soft muttering interrupted the man's self-admonishment long enough for him to glance at her again, and feel a gentle feeling of ease wash over him, lessening the throbbing in his head. A part of him hoped he'd wake up with her wrapped around his body again, but another doubted it. Even still, he didn't have the will, nor the desire to end whatever it was they had before it could hurt them more than it already would.

The man looked over at the alarm clock on the nightsand, still hosting the sake glass from the evening before, some clear liquid still resting in the bottom of the glass. 12:49PM. They'd already slept half the day away. Ari gently ran his hand through the girl's hair, simply watching her. He sat like that for a few moments, savoring that moment, burning the image of her dozing on his chest in his mind before he finally shook her shoulder gently.

"Hey, it's time to get up," he murmured softly. When it seemed she didn't want to wake, he tried again. "Hey. C'mon, we need to go get some breakfast."

She was faintly aware of a soothing motion, the gentle brushing of Ari's fingers against her hair earning a content sigh from Valeria. A smile softly tugged at the corners or her lips, perhaps from the small caress the man offered or simply a good moment in her dream, and the peaceful expression on her face was undeniable.

"Hey, it's time to get up."

"Mrmmm..." Said look on her face was broken when his hand reached towards her shoulder, giving it a gentle shake as Ari attempted to wake her up. Her brows furrowed slightly, and a soft groan escaped her lips along with a half mumbled request. "Cinco minutos más..."

"Hey. C'mon, we need to go get some breakfast."

A pair of eyes slowly blinked then as Valeria began to stir awake, closing quickly as the bright light flooded her vision before her arm stretched across the man's chest. "What time is it...?" A cloudy and groggy mind did little for the blonde to correctly gauge the passage of time, for a moment thinking that they had simply dozed off an hour or two at most.

"What time is it...?"

Ari chuckled quietly, which quickly transitioned to a groan as his hangover decided that laughter was not the flavor of the day. "Oh, I need a coffee," the man muttered before setting his eyes back on Valeria, squinting through the painful light.

"It's almost one in the afternoon," the man reported. His head hurt too much for the typical pleasantries, so the man just skipped ahead. "You can shower here if you want," he groaned, letting his head hit the pillow as his eyes shut. "I can go first if you wanna snooze a bit longer. Change and meet me in the lobby, get bagels." The man tried to get up, assuming that Valeria actually let him do so. "Get coffee...and water." No better hangover cure than water and electrolytes. Maybe a Gatorade or something would be a better choice, but the man wasn't going to be too picky at this point.

"It's almost one..." Oh okay, that wasn't so bad then, after all they'd gotten to the hotel a little bit before midnight so that was barely an hour lat— "... in the afternoon."

"¡¿Qué?!"

The realization that half a day had actually passed had the blonde suddenly jolting upright as she woke up, though she was quick to regret her sudden movement as her head pounded in protest. A hand reached to rub her left temple, inwardly groaning before her attention turned to Ari and the plan he proposed.

"Mhmm, that's okay. I don't have clothes here anyways, so have to go up to my room regardless." A hand rose to cover her mouth as a yawn escaped her lips, prompted perhaps by the man giving her the option to stay and snooze a little bit longer, before Valeria shook her head gently. "Nah, I'm actually looking forwards to those bagels you mentioned yesterday. Beelais... Blaies...?"

No, neither of those pronunciations sounded right... but honestly that was the closest Valeria could get to the name Ari had mentioned in her current state.

"Bialys," Ari corrected her as he practically rolled out of bed, his feet thudding onto the ground as he groggily forced himself to stand. "I'll meet you down in the lobby when you're done?" the man said as he began to pull off his shirt and tossed it over onto his suitcase. He could sort it out later. And pick out some clothes. Comfy clothes.

The man then wandered over to the mini fridge that'd been installed in the entertainment center and opened the little metal box, pulling out two bottles of water. He turned around and handed on to Valeria, opening his after she took it. "Drink up," he said, walking towards the bathroom to start showering and probably just sit for a while, washing away the grogginess. He would've bade her good-bye too if his head wasn't trying to split itself open at the moment.

"Bialys."
"Right... that."

She wasn't even going to attempt pronunciating the word again, already Valeria was sure she'd normally screw up its pronunciation... and that was without adding a hangover to the mix. The bed shifted as Ari moved, causing Valeria to look in his direction as the man rolled out of bed.

"I'll meet you down in the lobby when you're done?"
"Yeah, that sounds like a good plan—"

The rest of the words got caught up in her throat as Valeria was treated to a rather unexpected, but actually very appreciated, view of Ari's backside and muscle structure. It caused her cheeks to redden in response, her mouth suddenly feeling dry, before the blonde finally managed to tear her eyes away from him as she started sliding over to the edge of the bed.

"Drink up."
"T-hanks..."

Ay dios mío...! The offered bottle had caused her to look back up to Ari once more, and it took every ounce of self control that the blonde had to not bite her bottom lip in response to the frontal view she received as her hands reached for the cool object. The cap was quickly twisted and uncapped, the cool liquid a welcomed respite as it hydrated her exhausted soul while Ari disapepared into the bathroom. She took a few moments to compose herself, the cool bottle pressed against her cheek to try and dimisnish the blushing, before finally standing up and exiting the room in favor of her own on the 21st floor.

A short (or at least she hoped it had been short, it was hard to tell with the persistent headache) while later Valeria had finished showering and dressing up, the blonde actually taking a bit of extra time this time around to try and tidy up her room before leaving... just in case.

With a ding! the elevator's doors slid open, the blonde stepping out into the main lobby before her eyes scanned the place for the familiar raven-haired man...

Ari had sat in the shower for quite a while, cold water running down his back as he washed away the events of last night, both the alcohol and endless teasing. He couldn't say he was mad about how everything had turned out, at least now that he'd managed to wake up a bit more, but nonetheless, he'd still needed to cool off.

Once he'd finished up, the man had gone about his usual routine. Brush teeth, deodorant, clothes, though he skipped actually trying to do his hair today (it took effort to make it look so stylishly messy after all). He'd decided on wearing a hat for the day, so there was no real need for it. Once he'd finished making himself at least look like he wasn't hung over, the man had grabbed his phone, wallet, and lastly sunglasses before heading to the elevator.

He'd arrived a few minutes before Valeria, finding a seat in the lobby. When the girl found him, he was sitting with his head lulled back, eyes closed, though it might've been hard to tell with the sunglasses. Another bottle of water was loosely held in his hands. As he'd heard someone approach, the man had opened his eyes and looked at whoever disturbed his rest, quite happy to discover that it was Valeria...looking...'Wow.' It took him a moment to actually gather his wits enough to formulate a greeting. "Yo...Bialys?"

Though she wouldn’t outright admit it there was no denying that Valeria had placed a little bit more effort into her choices today than before. After all yesterday morning her only thoughts had been to dress comfortably and enjoy the Summerfest as she caught the shows of various artists and bands that she favored.

However today was different, today she was planning on attending the event with Ari and enjoy their totally not a date guys time together. The first order of business was finding a place that had the special bialys they’d conversed about the day before, and of course they’d have to take a look and see which singers would be performing in the Central Park today.

She spotted him by the lobby, sitting on a chair with his head lolling backwards. Even though his hair had been covered by a hat Valeria had little trouble finding him, a smile pulling at the corner of her lips as the girl almost pranced over to where the man was.

"Yo… Bialys?"
"Mhmm, bialys."

Valeria had taken the chance to peer over the man as she’d closed the distance, her arms pulled back with her fingers interlocked. He looked good, different too with the sunglasses on, before her eyes trailed over to the blue smiley face pinned on his hat. "That’s a cute pin~" Her hands released one another, before an index finger softly poked at the pin in question by the side of the man’s hat.

Ari was still a little star struck by Valeria's appearance, having to put an actual conscience effort in making sure his jaw wasn't hanging lamely open as he stared at her. I wasn't until she'd poked the pin in the side of his hat that the man managed to scoop his brain off the floor and shove it back inside his skull.

"Oh, thanks," he replied with a quiet chuckle. "Sister gave it to me," he explained before gesturing for the girl to sit down on the couch next to him. "So there's a place that's got Bialy's about a twenty minute walk from Central Park. I figured we could Uber there and then walk, if that's good with you?" he asked as the woman sat down beside him.

Ari pulled out his phone and pulled up the menu before handing the device to Valeria as his hand found it's comfortable spot on her thigh, the physical contact with the girl becoming a quick habit, one that was almost certain to be hard to break.

Valeria was thankful that past-her had the forethought to pack a small bottle of Advil in her suitcase before the trip, aware that she would be drinking through the summerfest after all who wouldn’t? which would make hangovers a likely issue during her vacation. Granted, the blonde wasn’t planning on getting shitfaced on alcohol any time soon, but you didn’t need to get blackout drunk to still suffer a mild hangover the next day.

The second she’d arrived into her room Valeria had popped two of the pills before finishing the contents of her water bottle, and by the time she’d finished getting ready and made her way over to meet Ari the girl was happy to notice most of her headache had cleared… at least for the short term. Valeria could only hope that by the time the medication’s effects wore off a full belly and some sunshine might’ve been enough to suppress any remaining side effect from all the sake they’d drank the night before.

"Your sister has good tastes then~"

As Ari motioned her over the blonde sat down besides the man, their shoulders brushing together while she listened to his proposed plan. "Yeah, that sounds good to me. I’m guessing the place is pretty far from here if we’re Ubering, huh?" His hand had found a comfortable spot to rest atop her thigh, the movement as natural as the act of breathing to stay alive, as the blonde leaned against his side—her attention now on the menu displayed in Ari’s phone screen as the man handed the device over to Val without a second thought.

"Oh wow, these all sound really good…"

"Yeah, I guess she does," the man had replied with a short chuckle. He wasn't quite sure if a thirteen year old could really ever be considered as having good taste, but if Valeria liked it, that had to have meant that Ili had picked well enough. Maybe he'd text her later and let her know this pretty girl liked the pin she'd chosen for him.

"It's a few miles," Ari explained as Valeria began to browse through through the bagel shop's options, some far more colorful and exotic than the others. "About an hour walk, and I dunno 'bout you, but my feet are still killing me from yesterday." They'd spent almost the entire day on their feet, walking around or standing in crowds listening to the music. They'd only really sat to eat, and when they'd laid down together in his bed for the night, unintentionally drifting off to sleep in each other's arms.

"Still like, twenty minutes by car, and another twenty minute walk to Central Park, but that's not too bad, I think. Uber should be here in the next like, ten to fifteen." Ari had called for the Uber a little bit before Valeria had come down, figuring she wouldn't be too far behind him given how long he'd taken in the shower. "Whatcha thinking of getting?" he then asked, peering over her shoulder to look at the menu again.

"Yeah, if it was just a couple of blocks I wouldn’t mind walking over to it," Her attention mostly remained on The Classics portion of the menu presented to her, already two of the options in the list having caught Valeria’s attention. "... but you’re also right. We’re gonna be doing a lot of standing and walking again at the park, might as well take it easy when possible."

Before she could ask Ari had already confirmed he’d called the Uber for them, a nod given in response before she felt the man shift beside her. He leaned closer to get a better view of the screen now, his breath tickling her skin and causing a soft rosy hue to gently stain her cheeks in response.

"I w-was debating between these two," A finger carefully tapped The Kossar’s Classic, before she slowly swiped up on the screen until a second option appeared. Food, just focus on the food…! Once The Ludlow was within view she also tapped it. "Still not sure which one to pick, they both sound really good though."

It was then a third option presented itself, as if the blonde didn’t had enough trouble making a choice as it was. "Oh wait, The Big Orchard sounds really good too… fuck."

Ari had already browsed the menu earlier, but it didn't exactly hurt to take a second glance. As he'd leaned closer the scent of shampoo had drifted to his nose, the soft strands of hair gently tickling his cheek. Whether a reminder of last night, or something else, Ari felt his heart skip a beat for just a brief moment.

"I was thinking the Classic, actually," the man said as Val began to list a few options that sounded good to her. "Wanna split again? We could do the Classic and something else," the man suggested before he remembered the drinks as well. "Oh, we could get some coffees while we're there too." After having downed three bottles of water (he'd had another one before heading to the lobby), his head was...still throbbing, though slightly less so. But the man's crippling caffeine addiction was calling to him once more.

"Yeah, that sounds like a perfect idea actually~" The joy of meeting someone that shared your fascination for food was being able to sample more options as a result, and it made her happy whenever Ari was quick to suggest the idea. "We can do the Classic then and… the Orchard?"

It was a close call between the other two, but in the end the Big Orchard just called out to the blonde a little bit louder. By now Valeria had snuggled a bit closer to his side, her finger swiping down on the screen to review the drink section when Ari brought it up.

"I’m not much of a coffee fan myself," She enjoyed the scent of freshly ground and brewed coffee, after all both her grandparents had indulged in a cup every morning, but the taste just wasn’t one that grew on her even though she tried. She could tolerate it, sure, but it wasn't her first option if something else was available. "Oh, they do have Harney & Sons in their tea menu… I wonder if they have the black sweet tea in stock."

"Yeah, the Orchard sounds good," the man said with a smile as Valeria snuggled into him slightly. The man lifted an arm and draped it around the girl's shoulders, welcoming her into his embrace as she began to scroll through the drinks menu.

"Oh, you wound me," the man said covering his heart with his hand. "You've just never had one of my coffees," the man said with a laugh. "I bet their tea is good though. I guess we'll find out when we get there." The man reached over and swiped down on the phones screen quickly, bringing up the notifications to see if there'd been any updates on the Uber. None, but checking the time in the corner of the screen, it probably wouldn't be too long until the car arrived. "Uber should here in about five, wanna go wait outside?" he asked.

His arm draped over her shoulders, a soft smile tugging at the corners of her lips as the blonde cozied up to his side. His warmth was comforting and inviting, and for a moment the girl wouldn’t have minded to stay like this for a large portion of the day.

"Alright, alright, I’ll give yours a try then," His words coaxed a light laugh out of Valeria as he pretended to be wounded by her hot takes on coffee, turning her head enough to look at him as she spoke with that soft smile still present in her lips. ”But it better blow my mind out~"

His hand reached over, a finger swiping at the screen before he brought up the notifications. Their Uber ride should soon be there unfortunately even if there was no recent alert to be displayed, and she could only nod in agreement at his suggestion. It was the smart thing to do, after all, and yet she didn’t make a move to stand up.

... just one more minute.

Despite Valeria's agreement that they should get up and start heading out, the girl didn't move. A smile tugged at the corners of the man's lips, just as content as she to sit with her for a few moments longer. Unfortunately, they couldn't laze about forever, as much as they might've wanted to. A few minutes passed, and the man's phone buzzed, a message saying that their Uber was almost there. "Alrighty, time to go," the man finally said once he'd read the message, only getting up after Valeria stood

The man rose from his seat a bit slower than the girl, careful to not let nausea overtake him. His headache was quick to return despite this, causing the man to grimace slightly before they started to head out of the lobby and to the street outside.

"Uh, blue Toyota Camry," Ari said checking what car they were looking for one more time. "See it anywhere?" he asked the girl as they stood outside at the edge of the sidewalk.

For a couple of minutes neither of them moved from their spot, soaking up the comfort found in one another… and then Ari’s phone buzzed with a new alert. "Sí, lo sé." Her words were light and airy, finally acknowledging that it was time to get going as the blonde got up first from their seating arrangement.

She’d turned then to look back at Ari, her head tilted to the side slightly as she noticed the faint grimace in his face as the man stood up. "You alright, Ari…?" There was a brief flash of concern in her eyes, though the man was quick to wave that worry away as he responded.

”Eh, I’ll live.”
"...okay, if you say so."

Their steps soon took them to the street outside the hotel’s lobby, the pair standing in the sidewalk as they tried to spy the Uber that should be reaching them at any moment now. "A blue Toyota Camry…?" There was no attempt made to hide the questioning tone that colored her words, Valeria’s eyes scanning over the cars that were currently visible without a clue as to what she was looking for… well, except for the color blue, of course.

"Is it that one…?"
