"Die of curiosity, bitch. That's what you get for callin' me a parasite AND trashtalking my coffee."
"Start helping with rent and learn to brew a decent cup, and I'll stop insulting you for those things,"
the man countered as Nico snatched one of the keys from his grasp, the tell-tale jingling probably sounding like music to the girl's ear. Free snazzy ride.
"I dunno how to drive, but I want to go in the cool car."
"They're both cool cars."
In fact, they were both the same exact car. Just different paint jobs.
"Val, can you babysit Ari on this one? I'll take the popstar girl for a ride."

Ari couldn't help but pan his gaze over to Valeria, the sheepish smile returning, hoping that they were at a place again where being alone with each other for a while wouldn't be the most uncomfortable thing in the world as they both struggled to process an entire host of emotions they were only just beginning to be honest with themselves about. The woman returned his gaze with a meek look over her own, but neither seemed to object to the arrangement, so Ari twirled the keys into the palm of his hand, another jittering jangling sound emitting from them as he closed his fist around them and began to follow after the excited Nico and apparently pro stuntwoman Dayeon.

"Just don't try to Tokyo drift out on those cliffs," the man warned her as they all arrived at their vehicles. "You'll go right off the edge." One blue (claimed by the other two) and one red Mustang, the fancy cars and their cloth convertible tops practically gleamed as if they'd just come out of the car washes. "I've always wanted to drive one these," the man commented as he too unlocked the car and went around to the back of the vehicle to pop the trunk.

"Send the location to my phone," Ari heard Dayeon say.
"Yeah, one sec." The man gestured for Valeria to hand him her suitcase, the larger of the two, and the man hoisted it into the trunk, sliding his own luggage in beside it afterwards. The trunk slammed shut and the man pulled out his phone and began to text the address to Dayeon, casting a sideways glance at Valeria. "Wanna drive?" he offered. "Not everyday you get to drive a beauty like this, top down in Hawaii."

"I may not drop as much money on the rent, but I still do okay. As for the coffee, you are entitled to have a wrong opinion." She crossed her arms against her chest, with a wide smug look on her face to match.
"They're both cool cars." So he says... And he's right on a technical level as she checks them out, yeah.
"You gonna be in one of them, that automatically makes it the shittiest out of the pair. I'm going with Day, and we gonna be rocking the entire way." Nico proclaimed, just in time for her to get chills down her spine at Dayeon talking about drifting.

Hopefully she would keep her mind calm and cool. At least there were no flowers in these cars to derail them, thoughts snatched out of her mind once the keys were taken from her.

"Just don't try to Tokyo drift out on those cliffs, You'll go right off the edge."

Nico moved towards the co-pilot seat, waiting on Dayeon to open up. "If we die, pay for my funeral too. Make it a viking one." She chuckled, finally getting herself in and closing the door with one rough slam, far too used to cars on worse conditions than this one and that action alone proved it, as unconcious as it were.

"Okay if I keep the windows up can I call you Dayeon? And how did you end up meeting Val and Ari Aren't you busy making sick tracks?" She finally let the excited fangirl speak for herself, fuck everyone around them for robbing her of the opportunity, it was too much she wished to take off her system. "When's the next one, can I get a first row VIP seat if I save your ass ingam- Wait, I already did, didn't I?" Now that got her to think about it for a quick second as the car kickstarted, the pinkette focusing on the korean sensation, eyeing her up and down. Up. Down.

Moonsong... Dayeonsong... Flat?

"Hey so uh, did you lose weight or were you just fancying yourself some thickness ingame? Your body looks kinda mid- Sorry no that's rude." She shook off her head, but trying to act more natural felt the least natural course of action right now... It's DAYEONSONG afterall, her bubbling excitement couldn't be contained anylonger, not after being blueballed the whole way from airport to shuttle to rent-place.

"Just don't try to Tokyo drift out on those cliffs."

"Yes, sir."
She casually replied, receiving the address of their rented place before setting her phone's navigation towards it. "Alright, it's just one hour's drive. Let's go." Dayeon got into the car, started the car before waving to both Ari and Val, going first smoothly towards the indicated road.

"Okay if I keep the windows up can I call you Dayeon? And how did you end up meeting Val and Ari Aren't you busy making sick tracks?"

"You may,"
she joked with a formal tone, before relieving the Summerfest event where she met both of them. "I actually had met Ari in-game long ago, then saw both him and Val during Summerfest 2033. We look like our in-game counterparts so we quickly recognized each other." Despite all her jokes about the drifting, the songstress' driving was quite relaxing, and adding the sea view to their left was beautiful.

"Hey so uh, did you lose weight—"

"Yeah, I actually lost 4 kilograms past these two weeks. Rough stuff, but how do you—"

"—or were you just fancying yourself some thickness ingame? Your body looks kinda mid- Sorry no that's rude."

The idol's foxy eyes widened in disbelief at the disrespectful nonsense Nico just spouted, her face turned red as the pinkette hit a pretty sensitive nerve. "...What?!" She revved the gas as she deeply growled, accelerating the car a notch faster. Her eyes went down a few times checking for her assets, before angrily turning to Nico trying to confirm things. "In which department?! Isn't my cleavage deep enough?!" Taking a few deep breaths, she finally calmed down and slowed back the car to its original relaxed state.

"... Yeah, that's rude, Nico. You can't tell people their body's mid, especially—" Glanced at her, but in a playful manner. "when it's you who added some thickness. Now please play some of that kick-ass music playlist."

A soft chuckle escaped the blonde as the banter between Ari and Nico continued, if they were trying to disprove Val’s sibling theory the pair was certainly doing a poor job at it, before one of the pinkett's comments caused the blonde to interject ever so slightly. "Nico…!"She rolled her eyes at the woman, though the scolding tone of her voice was easy to ignore thanks to the light smile that lingered on Valeria's lips. His attention turned to Dayeon soon after, the request made to the songstress of avoiding any Tokyo Drift shenanigans earning a nod of agreement from Val, before Ari took a second to look over the red convertible as they walked towards the back of the vehicle.

"I've always wanted to drive one these."
"Who wouldn't? They're pretty cool~"

Not only was their design visually pleasing, but Mustangs always sounded great on the road too—and it was clear that these two vehicles received a good clean up quite recently. Her suitcase was gently guided over towards the man when Ari gestured for it, letting him figure out the arrangement of their luggage as it was loaded up into the trunk.

"If we die, pay for my funeral too. Make it a viking one."
"No one’s allowed to die on our trip, but that’s an interesting choice Nico."

With a chuckle the pinkett had finally disappeared into the blue Mustang, their exchange giving Ari enough time to share the AirBnB location with Dayeon, before his attention had turned towards Val with an offer the blonde hadn’t expected.

"Wanna drive?" There was a pause as she considered it, her eyes trailing over to look at the vehicle once more, before the girl gently shook her head in response as she made her way towards the passenger door. "Nah, it’s okay, you get the honors of its first drive~"

It was only fair, after all he'd certainly been looking forward to it plus he did pay for them too. Also it seemed Ari was well acquainted with Hawaii, including the place they were going to, and if she was in the passenger seat that meant a chance to enjoy the view and record parts of it.

”Besides we talked about going for groceries after settling in, I'll drive the blue one then."

The passenger door was pulled open before the blonde disappeared into the car, strapping her seatbelt on before returning Dayeon’s wave as the other two began heading off. Her attention shifted back to Ari as he got into the driver’s seat, the concerned look in her eyes hard to miss even amidst the awkwardness that stubbornly lingered between them since Lübeck, and a meek smile found its way to her lips as she spoke.

"Should give you some peace and quiet too… maybe you can rest up for a bit while we’re out?"

"You gonna be in one of them, that automatically makes it the shittiest out of the pair." What else was there for Ari to do but flip Nico the bird as he walked around the car to stuff the luggage in? Nothing, because it was a perfectly appropriate response, made only better by the next thing that Nico said.

"If we die, pay for my funeral too. Make it a viking one."
"No one's allowed to die on our trip, but that's an interesting choice Nico."
"You'll be lucky if I give you a shallow grave,"
the man quipped as he slammed the trunk shut.

Ari unlocked the car as Valeria mentioned him possibly resting while she and the other two girls went out to get their groceries for the next couple weeks, the click coming from the interior signaling for himself and Valeria to enter. "Unlikely, but we'll give it a go," the man replied as he slipped into the car.

As Ari settled into the driver's seat, he picked up on the faint new car smell that always came with rental cars. At least the ones that the company actually tried to keep in good condition. A faint smile played at the man's lips as he ran his hands over the steering wheel. A pleased smirk played at his lips as he glanced over at Valeria and turned the ignition, the car roaring to life.

The pair pulled out of the parking lot, following behind Dayeon and Nico, as they all started the hour long drive to the other side of the island. "Wanna hook up your phone and throw on some tunes?" the man asked, as he fingered the touchscreen, navigating to the Bluetooth. With how often the two used to send each other music recommendations, the man certainly had no qualms with listening to whatever it was that she wanted to throw on.

The girl nodded as she began to sync her phone with the car, and Ari worked on finding the button to put the top down. Finding it after a few minutes of fiddling, at the next stop light, the canvas top began to retract into the back of the car. Suddenly, the cool island air surrounded them, and as they began to move, the wind began to whip around them.

They passed through a valley of sugarcane fields before finally making it to the small two-lane highway that trailed along the southern coasts and cliffs of the island, the ocean below them travelling endlessly into the horizon. Two of Maui's neighboring islands could easily be seen, their lush green mountains contrasting the blue waters.

Ari said nothing all the while, and if anyone looked at him, they'd have noticed the tension in his body. Suddenly, being alone with Valeria had felt suffocating. No matter how much Ari tried to put it out of his mind, the feeling that everything between them had changed couldn't be pushed out of his mind. It wasn't as if that idea were just fiction. They'd said as much in Lubeck, having given up on their poorly constructed lies. But everything that had happened in Lubeck, with the Everwhite, with Moonsong, Dayeon, had also left the man feeling uncertain about just where it was he stood with Valeria. He couldn't help but fear that she still hated him for what he'd done.

"Hey," the man finally said, breaking the silence. "Are we okay?" It was just like him to face his fears head-on, and with reckless abandon. "I mean...I know we said...I just wanna make sure, now that you've had more time to think and stuff..."

Everything was going the way she wanted, one upping Ari on their latest battle. Sure, it wouldn't win the war, but she has to take her Ws whenever she could and dispense Ls on that smug idiot's face. At least until Val interjected.
"Nico…!"
"He started!"
Both hands stretched towards the culprit of their feud, McDeadpan. As if Val had some sort of leverage in this situation. Which might be true all things considered. Nirvana was at hand for her, thanks to Ari's lack of response, that middle finger only helped her reach such bliss. There's hawaii, and then there is more opportunities to shit on Ari, yet the pleasure out of that lasted mere seconds, forgotten as soon as the topic carried on. This is totally not what siblings do!

"No one's allowed to die on our trip, but that's an interesting choice Nico."
"You'll be lucky if I give you a shallow grave,"

baby blues switched from her puerto rican bestie back to Ari, then back at Val, pointing a thumb sideways towards him. "Bitch can't even dig a grave. I trust it to you then Val. Send me to valhalla once Day drifts us downhill." She giggled, giving a quick pat to the woman's arm to encourage her to leave, before heading over to the Fun Mustang.

Heartbroken that they didn't actually drift around, her heart flattered with hopes that the idol would prove her racer skills shattered from that point on. At least the view on their left (not right, we are not going in reverse WW) is pleasant enough, were it not for the fucking sunrays forcing her to put on sunglasses.

"Damn, I should have bullied Ari into taking me there too if I knew you would be there." She remarked, albeit inconsequential in tone. It didn't matter, now they are here and she gets to meet one of her favourite artists in private. One in a million chances-

"...What?!"

'Oh shit oh shit'

"Dayeon- Dayeon we are going too fast, DayeoON-" Nico gave up hope and instead held her hands back to hold tight against her seat, unfocused eyes going from the road back to the idol once the woman didn't seem any less content with slowing the fuck down.
"In which department?! Isn't my cleavage deep enough?!"
"NONO IT'S AMAZING, YOU GOT SOME
NICE BAZONGAS- DAYEON I DON'T WANNA DIEEEEEEEE!" She shouted, distress not enough of a word to describe her right now, they are about to die because she insulted some overworked korean hottie's body without a second thought to stop her and ponder the consequences.

And suddently, they were back on their lax pacing, her limbs didn't respond as she remained paralyzed despite how playful Day proved to be, like a real psycho would.

"...Holy shit don't do that again you scared me." Finally releasing a held-in breath, Nico fidgeted with her pockets, shaky enough to almost drop her phone before plugging it in through bluetooth and, after a few seconds without a sound, one of Slime girl's earliest songs begun to play. "And for your information, I ain't thicker ingame... I mean, not like you. I got the muscle I lack, you got aaauhhhh-" Nono, not gonna do the same mistake again. "A bigger ass, yeah that's what I meant last time."Better to sound like a complimenting pervert than a jerk...

'Fuck she gonna punch me if I keep it up'

"...Holy shit don't do that again you scared me."

"Maybe I will if you don't play a music."

Nico quickly plugged in her playlist, blasting a familiar opening to a massive hit of Slime Girls, also the one song that handed them the Song of the Year award that year.

"Ooh, it's `My Future Love`! You listen to this?" Impressed, she began nodding along to the music, occasionally singing along to her own part of the song. "A nice song that I actually like. Back when the management cared." Dayeon was surprised that anyone would play their older, Korean songs rather than the later English ones.

Wanting to enjoy the Hawaii air, she retracted the roof during a stop and lowered both windows. It's not like anyone could hear them talking anyway.

"And for your information, I ain't thicker ingame... I mean, not like you. I got the muscle I lack, you got aaauhhhh-"

The idol looked at the girl in the passenger seat with malicious intent, her hand ready to shift the gear up if she tries to say something unreasonable again. Even Ari's car hadn't appeared in the mirror ever since the last speedboost shenanigan happened.

"A bigger ass, yeah that's what I meant last time."

Both of her hands were back on the steering wheel, probably putting the pinkette at ease. "If anything, my real ones are firmer and more defined. It's fatty in-game because why would I exercise in a virtual world." She explained with puffed cheeks, before pausing and asking an important question about her suspicious analysis of her bottom. "Hold on, why are you saying that like you have seen my bare butt?"

"He started!"

A soft chuckle escaped Valeria as she watched Nico’s reaction, the woman stretching both of her arms in the direction of Ari, just as the man flipped her the bird in response.

"I trust it to you then Val. Send me to valhalla once Day drifts us downhill."
"Sure, I'll even include a funeral pyre if the car doesn’t blow up after going over the guard rails~"

Thankfully for all the joking that was done it seemed that Dayeon would make good on her promise, the blue Mustang being the first to leave the rental parking lot with the duo—and not even a tire screech was heard as they pulled out and onto the road. "Unlikely, but we'll give it a go." The response had been expected, after all she knew how terrible his own insomnia could be at times, but at the very least it sounded like he’d give it a try so she decided to not press the matter further.

"Wanna hook up your phone and throw on some tunes?"
"Of course, otherwise I’d be a terrible copilot."

She hadn’t missed the faint smile that tugged at the corner of his lips as he stared at the steering wheel, his hands running over it before one finally moved to the ignition with a pleased smirk. A light giggle escaped the girl then, the sound of the Mustang enough to melt away a bit of the tension she felt on her own shoulders, before she fiddled with the settings of her phone to pair it up with the vehicle as Ari followed behind the blue Mustang.

"Let’s see… what to play, what to play…" She could feel the faster than usual heartbeats within her chest, almost hyper aware of the private space they were now sharing as her eyes scrolled over a never ending list of songs within her Spotify favorites. "Hmm, oh, I guess this one would be good for a radio playlist."

As they pulled to the first red light Ari had finally found the button to retract the canvas top of the vehicle, allowing the cool island air to envelop them, the familiar scent of the salt in the wind bringing back old memories for the blonde of her own native island. Sunroof began playing on the speakers just as the Mustang was set into motion once more, sunkissed strands of hair flickering and dancing in the air as they cruised along the road to their destination.

The only sound to accompany the roar of the engine were the tunes that cycled through the speakers from the auto generated radio that Spotify had created from her initial song choice. Usually the girl would’ve found herself singing along to most of the known songs as they played, instead she’d found herself tongue-tied and quiet as Val chose to focus on the playlist displayed on her phone screen. The sudden roar of the blue Mustang caught her attention then, looking up to see Dayeon pull away from them before disappearing.

"I hope they're okay…?"

It was a poor attempt at some form of small talk, a side glance given to the man beside her as she spoke, before soon shifting to the sugarcane fields to her right after noticing the tension along his jaw. A few taps on the screen of her device had it switch to video, the girl taking a few moments to record the passing fields for a friend—but also as an excuse to do something, anything, that would occupy her attention and distract her front he growing nervousness that continued to well up within her chest.

"Hey," She’d been visibly startled when Ari finally chose to break the silence between them next, barely managing to stop the recording on her phone before the device tumbled onto her lap as it slipped through her fingers. "Y-Yeah?" The blonde mentally kicked herself as her voice squeaked right out of her mouth, feeling the way her cheeks began to burn in embarrassment just as her eyes shifted back to look at the man once more. "Are we okay?"

With that single question he’d chosen to address the elephant in the backseat head-on, refusing to skirt around the topic with the usual song and dance they had seemingly fallen into since their first meeting in New York. "I t-think so…?" She wished her voice carried her usual confidence, instead it faltered before her gaze turned away once more—fingers now quietly fiddling with the hem of her jacket and the pull tab of its zipper as the radio shifted and Stay began to play.

What was okay for them? Was it the way they’d been pretending as if neither had feelings for the other ever since their Summerfest had come to an end? How she’d often send him songs not only because the girl thought he’d like them, but also because it was a way to share all the emotions swirling within her that were often left unsaid? Or perhaps the way they’d often steal glances and touches from one another, seeking that physical comfort in varying amounts?

"I still care about you," That much was true, her feelings were still there and present. They hadn't evaporated during Lübeck, hadn’t lessened either with each passing day… they were out front and center now, and she didn’t know what to do with them. "... what about you?"

The roar of the engine in front of them had Ari leaning forward over his steering wheel as he watched Dayeon suddenly peel away from them, rounding a corner at a speed the man trusted only professional drivers and stuntmen to do. Though he couldn't see the blue car anymore, the man took some solace in the fact he hadn't heard the metallic crunch of a head on collision with another car, or the cliff face, nor did he hear them tumbling down off the edge of the cliff, cutting their vacation short with a great splash.

But now that the other two girls were out of sight, the sound of screeching tires having dissipated, all seemed quiet, save the music playing in the background. It was exactly the kind of music that made an island trip feel like it was the middle of summer. The kind that made you forget that it was really the middle of November and that back home, the weather was slowly cooling down until one day they'd all be freezing their asses off.

Yeah, this was much more preferable to the bitter cold and biting rain.

And Valeria's presence beside him should've made it that much more enjoyable. The clear sky bluer, the ocean waves crashing into the rock wall below more melodic. But all her presence did was have the man sitting on the edge of his seat, as if he could somehow bolt out of the car the moment she responded and told the man exactly what he didn't want to hear, because somehow that would turn out well.

"I t-think so…?" Almost as if on cue, the song changed over to something else Ari knew well, something he'd heard plenty of times since he'd first sent it to Valeria. Or maybe she'd been the one to send it to him, who knew at this point? It was almost like there was some sort of greater cosmic being out there watching them with a bag of popcorn like they were it's favorite soap opera. Maybe it was because of that idea in the back of his head that the man's first thought was 'well that's comforting,' the sarcastic quip being held back only because they were both trying to be serious.

"I still care about you," Valeria went on after a moments pause, as if she was confirming to herself that that was still true. "...What about you?"

"Never stopped,"
the man replied as he smoothly rounded the car through another bend. As they cleared the corner, the sight of the blue mustang slowly came into view, confirming that no one had died yet.

"I want things to change between us," the man admitted. Talking about his own feelings wasn't one of his strong suits. In fact, he sucked at it. Depressingly so, because he hardly ever even understood his own feelings. But if there was a time for honesty, it was now. "I do," the man said as he glanced over at Valeria, doing his best to keep one eye on the road. "Just...not too quickly." In-game, in real life, the raven-haired man was always quick to adapt to his situation. To take things one step at a time and deal with the problem. But when it came to Valeria..."I'm not always the best at dealing with this sort of thing. Emotions, and all that."

"Maybe I will if you don't play a music." Is... Is dayeon acting all sassy on her now?

"Maybe I'll throw us both over the cliff instead, you cheeky tart." Nico replied, hard to tell if she's joking or not. 'Doing it for the vine' is her lifestyle if she has proven anything to Ari by being an absolute pain on the derriere.

The airbag will save her, no problemo.

When 'My Future Love' Started to blast, Nico rolled the stereo's volume all the way up, stretching her legs and flopping as best as she could while wearing her seatbelt.

"A nice song that I actually like. Back when the management cared."

"That kind of people ever cared for ya'?"
Nico asked, genuinely quizzical about that. Management is a plural, and usually, plurals are far too money-centered to care for those that make them the cash in the first place. Like farmers and cows, except even farmers got enough decency to care and accomodate their cattle. Business-peps are soulless drones who wish for money and nothing more.

"BITCH DON'T LET GO OF THE WHEEL, I'M LOOKING AT YA, I'M LOOKING AT YA!" She shouted back, pointing back at the hand over the gear and back to that smug devilish grin of hers. Seriously, is this the same Moonsong crybaby she met?! No, obviously not, couse moonsong has a nicer backside and bigger chest protusions, but she would never reveal the latter after the recent incident.

"If anything, my real ones are firmer and more defined. It's fatty in-game because why would I exercise in a virtual world." And with the hands back where she ordered, Nico sighed in relief, giving a glance back to the road, and noticing they have indeed lost Ari. Apparently the grandpa couldn't keep up, but the road's a straight line so there isn't much to worry about yet.
"Well I mean, ass is ass. Fat or not." The pinkorilla hit her back with a thumbs up and the brightest smile someone could pull after such a statement.

"Hold on, why are you saying that like you have seen my bare butt?"

Pursed lips, Nico stared hard at Day as she interrogated her, as if all of a sudden the woman caught up to that. "...Hyper sense?" She shrunk her shoulders, voice gone suspiciously quiet, and she got self-aware of it given how she cleared her throat just a second after. "Okay so, I saw you and Ari get into Lubeck's Inn. Val saw you two first and ran off with me that day. Nice butt by the way." Non-chalant, Nico pulled her backpack from it's zipper and grabbed a plastic lunchbox, pulling a few crackers to stuff her mouth with.

"Whan shom?"

"That kind of people ever cared for ya'?"

"They were, actually. Our company wasn't that big back then, but of course, money changed people." That's why she loved their earlier songs; it was crafted with such artistry and mixed well with the personality of the group itself, instead of getting the most expensive producers to pump out generic pop songs. "Yeah, sometimes we gotta know when to pull out."

"Okay so, I saw you and Ari get into Lubeck's Inn. Val saw you two first and ran off with me that day. Nice butt by the way."

"No? I wore a coat..."
A coat that should have covered enough, just a centimeter below her butt. She did wear nothing underneath, thanks to the everwhite.

Wait, was that the moment she bent forwards while coughing a lot of blood? Did the coattail get pulled up during that? "...I was dying so badly and you two gazed at my butt instead?" The idol asked in a very disappointed tone. A lot of the headaches in the past weeks could've been avoided if both of them ran after Yugam and herself instead of storming off after seeing some cheeks.

Suddenly her face turned bright red, realizing that at that moment she might've shown too much for the entire population of Lubeck to see. Quickly sweeping away the thoughts and focusing on the road instead, Dayeon looked at the gremlin offering her some snacks.

"Whan shom?"

"Thanks, I don't eat crackers."

The track then changed into one of the Slime Girls' next hits, Drive You Crazy. Grinning devilishly, the blue-haired idol turned to Nico, who might have guessed what's she up to. "Wow, Drive You Crazy, what a coincidence, huh?" As the electronic beat started to rise up, she tapped the steering wheel a few times, before singing along to her own opening to the eurobeat-y song.

"Junbi, Si-jak!"

The engine roared. Switching into the fifth gear, the tires screeched before they kicked into high speed yet again, quickly leaving the red mustang that just caught up behind them into the dust. The ensuing drive was actually pretty safe, contrary to Nico's claims that the idol is a speed devil.

"Approaching destination, one kilometer." Her phone announced.

"Oh, looks like we're arriving. Look at that, five minutes faster than expected." She turned to the pinkette, who might or might not have died along the way.

The fact that the screeching tires of a blue Mustang weren’t shortly followed by the sound of metal against metal, or a movie-like explosion, gave Valeria some comfort when the pair disappeared from their sights. Any worries she might’ve held for one (1) Dayeon and one (1) Nico were soon pinned and moved to one side of her mind, her focus shifting to the current conversation at hand with the man beside her.

"Never stopped."

Those words, simple as they were, helped calm down some of the anxious feelings that had built up within her chest—clearing out some of the uncertainty that had begun to brew within her mind and cloud her thoughts since their chat in Lübeck. There had never seemed to be a right time for them to follow-up on that conversation, especially when the game provided a multitude of excuses to avoid the topic altogether. There was no going back for them, not after everything that had been said and done, and part of her feared that just their feelings alone would not be enough for what awaited them next.

"I want things to change between us."
"You… do?"
"I do, just... not too quickly."

A hopeful look crossed her face and, for the first time in a while, she found it easier to keep her gaze on Ari—the reemergence of the blue Mustang, now with its top down, entirely unnoticed as Val’s attention remained on their discussion. A faint smile crossed her lips when the man admitted he didn’t excel at these types of talks, a feeling that the blonde understood and shared with Ari—emotions were, after all, abstract and complicated.

"Yeah… putting feelings into words is actually pretty hard." A task only complicated further by her lack of experience in the matter, communicating her own thoughts and emotions to others wasn’t something Valeria had done growing up—at least not until her grandparents had entered her life. "I want… I want things to change between us, too."

Was it scary? Absolutely, almost terrifying if the blonde was honest with herself. Things had almost fucked up once already before they'd even opened up and were vulnerable with one another—and that was without the challenge the distance between them added to the equation. Another song came to an end before the familiar tunes of Easy softly took over, and the lightest of giggles escaped Valeria at the timing of the song—almost as if it had been delivered by some divine intervention.

"We can take it easy~"

It was in that moment that an engine roared to life, and the blue Mustang that the pair had only recently caught up too soon disappeared from view once more…

Ari had long since turned his eyes back to the road, the twists and turns too numerous for him to keep his eyes on Valeria for too long, even if he wanted to. But a quick glance was all the man needed to notice the gentle smile on the woman's face.

"Yeah… putting feelings into words is actually pretty hard." Ari couldn't help but let out a small chuckle amusement at the statement. It was both so seemingly obvious, and yet contradictory at the same time.

The music changed again, and Val giggled quietly, causing the man to toss her another glance, and eyebrow raised in question as he wondered what it was that she seemed to find funny this time. "We can take it easy~" she said. Ari turned his sights on the road again, but not without another quiet chuckle, a soft grin on his face. Take it easy. The man took one hand off the wheel, seeking out Valeria's own, and slipped his fingers between hers once he'd found it, giving her hand a gentle squeeze as they cruised along. That was good.

Ahead of them, the blue car roared again as the Dayeon revved the engine, pulling away from them again. Ari shifted in his seat as he scoffed. "Geez, you'd think she was trying to race us the way she's driving," the man joked. "Not too far away now at least."

Well that did come as a surprise, enough to make her lean back against her seat and stare with disbelief at Dayeon. Management that cared..?

Scepticism is something she's very in touch with, and so this applies here, given she doesn't know Dayeon well enough on a personal level. Maybe she was on some copium at this point, but it is a fact that their earliest work had the most love put to it, hence why she keeps replaying them like a broken record.

"No? I wore a coat..."
"Yes? Yes we did saw you even with the coat."
She replied. Was she that shameless she forgot she displayed her buttocks to the entire town? Was it casual for korean idols to do that stuff?! Well, the way she reacted afterwards proved it as much that it wasn't the case.

"...I was dying so badly and you two gazed at my butt instead?"

That dissapointment on Day's voice almost triggered her. For all she cares, she deserved the death for being a cheating bitch, but all that is anger doing the talking, and thankfully it didn't go past her lips and remained as mere thoughts. "Okay first of all, Val saw you and then dragged me off, and you should be glad I chipped away at her because she was mad angry and I'm sure she would have finished what the tree started, on Ari too." Confident on her rebuttal, despite being completely baseless, but given Moonsong wasn't there but Fiora... "I would have at least."

And maybe even now she would. Bitch don't like CRACKERS?! Blasphemy. It's a good thing she's speeding up and Drive You Crazy started to play and had her head banging to it instead, easily swayed by the prompt of music and a roaring engine to match.

Pulling out her phone, Nico went up to Ari's chat and started to send an audio-

"HEY GRANDPA SPEED THE FUCK UP VAL'S GONNA DIE OF BOREDOM WITH YOU!" She chuckled, passing over the phone for Dayeon to say something. "Tell him he's a bitch or somethin'" The pinkette whispered, despite being loud and clear for the duo on the boring mustang to hear. "Act cocky once we get there too."

"You should be glad I chipped away at her because she was mad angry and I'm sure she would have finished what the tree started, on Ari too."

The first instinct after seeing their friend naked and battered is to plan to kill her. Such friends, right?

Why are you spilling into the real world, Freya? Shush.

It's been raining here for three whole weeks, Dayeon. That ought to paint a picture.

"I would have at least."

Trying not to get riled up by a voice of a certain Brit inside of her, Dayeon quickly let out a sad joke with a little laugh. "Might have been the better option, since then I didn't have to sleep with him, right? Haha..." Soon her laugh was replaced with a frown as she realized her pitiful attempt to make the incident less hurtful for her. "... Look at me, bringing the spirit of this vacation down already."

"I must have sounded really silly," She chuckled lightly, pitying herself, the woman who caught feelings because of one case of virtual sex and was haunted each night by what she had done. "But I'm a woman too." The scariest part would be the idol maintaining the high-speed drive during all this conversation. "Anyway, this is the fun car, not the sad car. That's the other mustang." The idol quickly changed the topic. It'll be blasphemy to be sad while Drive You Crazy is playing.

Nico pulled out her phone, before shouting really hard, causing Dayeon to almost jump out of her seat. The pinkette quickly brought the phone near her to record something. "Tell him he's a bitch or somethin'" She just smiled and said "Yeah, Ari. Try to keep up," as she slowed the car down, arriving at the destination.

His eyes remained on the road, necessary given that both of them would prefer to reach their destination unharmed and still breathing, but the soft grin that pulled at the corners of his mouth didn’t go unnoticed by Val. A hand released the steering wheel to seek for her own, the girl meeting him half way before their fingers loosely interlaced with one another—the gentle squeeze returned with one of her own. She had missed this, a simple and small gesture that brought an immense feeling of reassurance with it. It felt like a weight had been removed from her shoulders, the pressure she’d once felt in her chest slowly ebbing away as the blonde began humming softly with the music.

"Right? Imagine if we round a corner and find they’ve been stopped by a cop," The blue convertible was nowhere within sight as they continued to cruise along the road, her hand comfortably linked with his own. "Fastest world record of earning a speeding ticket while vacationing."

Her free hand fiddled with her phone as Val swiped up on the screen, causing Spotify to disappear for the time being as she trusted the algorithm to pull good music for them, before a couple extra taps had brought up the camera app. One swipe to the right shifted the setting from photo to video before the girl held the device in a landscape position, the thumb tapping on the button at the end of the screen to record the view of the ocean to her left just as Best Day of My Life began to play in the background… with Ari on the forefront of the shot.

"Not too far away now at least."

"Right? Imagine if we round a corner and find they've been stopped by a cop." Ari chuckled at that idea. "Yeah, geez, couldn't be me," the man said. "Hey, ya think getting into the Guinness Book of World Records that way would be good or bad for Dayeon's PR?" he joked, glancing over at Val.

"Oh god, please don't take a picture of me, I look like dogshit," the man said, looking away as soon as he noticed the phone in Valeria's hand, pointed at him. Off the plane, no sleep, he probably needed a shower to get that gross plane smell off of him. Now were not peak Ari hours.

The sound of Ari's phone buzzing briefly from within the cupholder he'd put it in when he got into the car briefly distracted the man from his torment as he picked it up and swiped down to see who had messaged him. A voice message from Nico. The man unlocked the phone and let it play as he focused on not crashing or going over the edge. "HEY GRANDPA SPEED THE FUCK UP VAL'S GONNA DIE OF BOREDOM WITH YOU! Tell him he's a bitch or somethin'"
"Yeah, Ari. Try to keep up."

The man couldn't muster up anything more than a sigh as he closed his phone and dumped it back into the cupholder. "I'm gonna kill her one day, I swear to god."

"Might have been the better option, since then I didn't have to sleep with him, right? Haha..."

Nico's eyes darted back to the idol, visibly weirded out within that nebular silence surrounding her now. Sighing off, the pinkette shook her head once Day tried to catch herself back up from the pit she yeeted herself to, willingly at that, silence broken abruptly.

"Anyway, this is the fun car, not the sad car. T-"
"Listen, I don't hold anything against ya', okay? And neither should you to yourself. It sucks? Sure, it is what it is. You can't make things right, only make them better, and you did the right choice with this vacation thing. I'm here just as much for Val as I'm for Ari, to make sure these two idiots have fun with eachother."
Brushing a few locks off her eyes, a press against the screen of her phone switched songs, now onto something more vibrant to keep up with their speedster pace without growing dull. "And obviously to meet Moonsong." She smirked.

"Yeah, Ari. Try to keep up,"
"You are the least intimidating bad bitch I ever met. Dressin' like a rottweiler when you act like a poodle."
Nico mused, finally having slowed down enough for her to take off her seat belt, can never be too sure given whose the driver right now, and with Day's stupid phone letting her know they arrived, she opened the door and got out to take one deep breath, and be hit by a wave of heat that reminded her this is not Philly but fucking HAWAII.

"Nah fuck this, man." She ain't dealing with the heat, not while Gramps is still taking his sweet time to find his cane to press on the gas. She went right back in, closing the door shut, on the car that has AC compared to the outside world.

After forcing the roof up. Post over.

"You can't make things right, only make them better, and you did the right choice with this vacation thing."

"Right." The idol exhaled, trying hard not to curse at herself.

"I'm here just as much for Val as I'm for Ari, to make sure these two idiots have fun with eachother."

She didn't answer. Her mind wandered to the couple in the red mustang. Have they made up? Things were a little awkward back in the airport, there should be a lot to talk about in one hour drive. If things went great, she should also be happy, right?

Yet what is holding back her thoughts right now?

"You are the least intimidating bad bitch I ever met. Dressin' like a rottweiler when you act like a poodle."

"Am I?"
Dayeon chuckled, her eyebrows raised. Nico was probably envious of how drippy her whole attire was compared to what the pinkette wore. She went outside following the other woman, who suddenly got back into the car.

"Why? It's pretty cool out here."

"Hmm, that’s a good question. Everyone says there’s no such thing as bad publicity, and it could even send the hits on Drive You Crazy soaring once more…" There was a small pause as the blonde gave Ari’s inquiry some thought, before a cheeky grin crossed her lips at a thought. "Wouldn’t it be funny if it reached the top ten of the 2033 Billboards right at the very end of the year?"

"Oh god, please don't take a picture of me, I look like dogshit." He had finally noticed the phone Valeria held in her free hand, Ari’s reaction eliciting a light and breezy laughter from the girl before she squeezed his hand softly. "Hmm hmm, I don’t get to see you—the real you—often, so this is perfect~"

She’d stuck her tongue out at him teasingly, finally stopping the recording when Ari’s own phone began buzzing inside the cupholder. Her fingers released his own so the man could grab his phone, a necessary sacrifice since his other hand had to stay on the steering wheel unless they wished to drive right off the edge and into the waves that crashed against the cliffside.

A few moments were taken to single out a small section of the clip where the view and the faint sound of the waves could be heard, while Enseñame a Bailar slipped into the speakers as the last song came to an end. The edited video copy was saved for later, before the blonde grinned to herself as she also saved the original as well.

"HEY GRANDPA SPEED THE FUCK UP VAL'S GONNA DIE OF BOREDOM WITH YOU! Tell him he's a bitch or somethin’...'"
"Yeah, Ari. Try to keep up."

One eyebrow raised as the voices of Nico and Dayeon blared out of the device, earning a soft snicker from the girl even as Ari let out an audible sigh along with his words. "Pretty sure that’s something siblings say about one another all the time."
