Personality
Cadence is intensely focused on her mission to destroy Terrasphere. Having spent so much time speaking with experienced hackers, she'll quickly lose patience with ordinary people who don’t understand her words, calling them words like "useless" and "incompetent." She also firmly believes laws are only valid so long as they can be enforced: a defiant attitude which would land her in more trouble if she weren’t so ridiculously careful with remaining anonymous.
Tristaria is Cadence’s online persona, and has a stone-cold stare, priding herself on her lack of emotion. When this becomes difficult, she instead uses her summons to express the overwhelming emotions for her, and lives vicariously through them to maintain her stoic appearance. She's a self-proclaimed "Defender of Magia" and runs a magia rescue service, delivering mana batteries to any magia who run out of charge, even if they can't pay. To every other race, Tristaria is especially dismissive, insisting that they're privileged and can't understand the daily struggles magia face in the world of Terrasphere.
Tristaria has a tendency to do some very odd things, like dash-jumping into walls, or turning realistic pain off and on multiple times in rapid succession. Someone silently testing the system… looking for the slightest hint of a crack, all without the slightest expression or explanation. Tristaria seems to either lack interest in (or harbor actual disdain for) the world of Terrasphere, but her summons engage with the world readily. When they drag her into things, she tends to go along with them. While it’s hard to tell, now and then, Tristaria shows hints that she’s more interested in the game than she might tell herself.
Positive: Skilled, focused, kind
Negative: Prideful, lawless, paranoid, stoic, vengeful
Background
Cadence grew up in a very cautious household, having been taught to distrust everyone and everything. She didn’t have many friends, at school or otherwise, as she pushed people away. However, one day, a girl named Raina recognized a sticker on her lunchbox: the symbol of her favorite comic hero, Aer Wingstrom. No matter how much Cadence pushed her away, Raina continued to pop up, insistent on sharing their dorky passion while the other girls at school rolled their eyes.
Inevitably, the two became close friends, and Cadence often found herself visiting the headquarters of the Raythean Corporation to visit Raina. While her friend was busy, Cadence would often wander around and ask questions of the "computer guys" to pass the time. She found the whole "hacking" concept fascinating, viewing it as the closest thing to a dark hero she could reasonably become in the real world. Before long, Cadence’s questions had become so technical, she could only be pointed to a dry college textbook. To everyone’s shock, she actually read them!
As time passed, the two drifted apart. Raina became interested in a dubious game known as Terrasphere, and Cadence resolutely insisted it was a danger she’d have no part in. While they still spent time together now and then, Cadence would insist on "No Terrasphere talk," further alienating her friend. Meanwhile, she continued to hone her computer skills to the point where she could actually collect on bug bounties and earn a comfortable (if inconsistent) living.
Then, one day, the awful news struck. Terrasphere had suddenly shut down, and with it, a number of lives were mysteriously lost. She’d hoped desperately that Raina would pull through with that crazy luck of her’s, but alas, she’d never wake again. Cadence took personal responsibility for her death, imagining it to be her duty to more strongly warn about the security flaws as the more technologically inept of the two.
Four years later, that cursed game opens its jaws once again, hoping to lure in more victims. This time, Cadence is ready to fly right in and rip it to shreds from the inside. She’ll take revenge on the game that claimed her only real friend. Find the cracks, hack it to pieces, destroy it beyond recognition, then find its creator and bring them to justice. Sometimes it‘s the heroes that need to do the most destruction in order to protect people…
