The Reunion
(NOT OFFICIAL DM CONTENT)

After Morgana, Lucia Mierz's familiar, had transported him to the outskirts of southern Astorea, the former location of the Duchy of Ivalice, via a flying whaleboat, Seto Kurama now found himself within the outskirts of his old lands when he was once a Duke of Astorea. Although that time has since passed, he seeks to return to the settlement he once founded to pay his respects to the fallen and burial those whom were left to rot. In the wake of it's destruction by his former apprentice, Vivian, Dawngrave is now little more than a ruins that is potentially hunted by those whom were unable to past on into the afterlife.

Meanwhile for one reason or another, @Harveste was in the area looking for some rare herbs.

After trudging through the forest, cutting down all the countless branches and wines that kept finding themselves in his way, he could nothing but sigh. It had been four days since Morgana had dropped him off and still, he wasn't there yet. He remembered the journey well, having undergone It himself countless times. It usually only took a few days at most to make, even on foot but right now? It was starting to get ridiculous. He was really starting to miss the old dirt roads he and the settlers had down and use. If they were still around or If he could even find a small trace of their existence, It could shorten the journey considerably but otherwise? This was going to be long trip indeed. It didn't help either a certain part of him felt as If he had walking around in a circle, making little to no progress at all. Everything look the dam same but at that? He shrugged. He was in the middle of Astorea's wildlands, it's deep, now near unexplored forests. Granted, he probably could employ his new abilities he had decided to grant upon himself once he remerged into this world but they were still untested and he was unsure of himself of their power, versatility etc. For now, especially being in the middle of nowhere, It was best to play it safe unless he wanted to find himself potentially killed after being overly fatigued. It wasn't as If these woods were safe now. He sighed again at the thought. "Just another long day...." he muttered to himself as he rose his right hand that was engulfed in a intense, violent looking, white aura. With it's razor sharp teeth soaring around his bare hand like a chainsaw, he took aim as he prepared to cut and slash the vines and thick branches that were hindering his way. If anything unlucky enough was standing or flying behind what he was about to cut, they would receive a grisly fate indeed.

Singing could be heard in the distance as a wagon carrying a small Faerin trudged through the thick of the forest. She'd gotten a ride from a travelling merchant in exchange for protection from bandits and boss monsters. She was pretty confident in her abilities i nature magic. It was her bread and butter the last time she'd played the game, so why wouldn't it be now?

She cheeked her palm menu. Her martial arts stats were pretty good too, and she'd even put some points into Beast Arts. When a bear came up to the cart, she jumped out and tried to pet it. It was a mother, looking for its cub. As it cried, she gave a soft smile and offered to help find the baby. Apologizing to the cart driver, the bear began to join them.

And then, she saw the bear cub in the distance... And a vaguely familiar man with a violent aura that gave her a suspicious feeling.

Jumping out of the cart, the small Faerin rushed over, yelling "Stop! You're going to kill the baby!" The bear roared eagerly, begging for the life of its child to be spared.

"If the branches are in your way, I'll take care of them," Harveste offered. "There are easier ways than cutting them all down to make a path, I promise. So please spare the bear cub."

Turning towards the forest, she put a hand out towards the path Seto was trying to make. As she sang a jazzy tune, the vines danced out of the man's way, and the branches seemed to move ever so slightly to let him pass. With the bear cub in sight, Harveste urged the mother bear to run and get her baby. Smiling up at the giant that was Seto, she giggled. "See? That wasn't hard at all."

This game. It was unlike games she played before, VR or not. Unlike anything she'd ever seen before. The start, it was just an empty white room. A white room, with her own body sitting in a chair across from her. It was...strange, seeing herself in that way. No mirror. No video. Just a double. Interacting with the avatar, it asked first if she would like to confirm her appearance. Was she supposed to change her appearance? Was her current appearance not considered proper by the game's standards? The message prompt gave no clues.

Confirm.

That had been days ago. Days ago that she'd been confused by the fact she could only choose three of the countless skills, but no more. Was she not supposed to level her skills up sequentially? The disorderliness had caused her to log out then, and begin to search for guidance online. Apparently the proper etiquette was to choose a build she liked. Or simply skills she thought she may enjoy. What skills she would enjoy? She didn't know what those were. Therefore, Alice simply took the next logical step. Things she felt she was good at. Those being music, or rather Harmonics, and programming, for which, she substituted Magitech. Deciding her third mastery as Dynamism, Alice concluded that the faster she could complete code - Magitech - in this instance, the more efficient she could be.

And then the game had dropped her in with no guidance at all. Simply, it spawned her in the middle of nowhere. What to do? Wander. That seemed an appropriate answer.

Alice wandered for approximately three days, sixteen hours, thirty five minutes and twelve seconds, if her in-game clock was accurate, only stopping at periodic intervals to eat, bathe, and otherwise maintain her real body. Sleeping, could be completed within the game itself. This was most efficient.

It was after these three days, sixteen hours, thirty five minutes and twelve seconds that Alice first encountered something alive that was not flora. An exceedingly small girl, a man with a claw-like hand, and a small bear cub.

Was he attacking the little girl? The bear? Violence was illegal, in any case.

Alice moved rapidly, dashing through what little foliage was between her and the three beings, placing herself between the claw man and the girl and her bear cub with outstretched arms.

"I must warn you that violence is illegal in most countries," Alice said, a nearly monotonous tone to her otherwise melodic voice. "Any acts of aggression would be ill advised."

State: Fine.....now

With his energy soaring around the palm of his hand, he was about to make a motion to drop said hand on a large branch that had fallen from a nearby tree, blocking his way, when he suddenly heard a younger girl's voice call out towards him, causing the man to snap his head in her direction with a confused expression.

Baby? The hell? Who the hell would even be down here?

Musing outload in a questioning tune, his empowered hand still on course to tear through the branch sitting still on the ground, he found himself wanting to investigate the source of the voice when he abruptly heard a roar at face value, quite literally, triggering him stumble back, almost losing his balance in the progress as the face of a cub promptly appeared before him.

Jesus!

His eyes enveloped in shock, his focus waned just enough, allowing the energy around his hand to dissipate until there was nothing left. Regardless, by the time a small, four foot tall girl suddenly appeared a few moments later, offering to clear the path for him in exchange for sparing the cub, he still found himself utterly confused, dumb founded even that someone like her was even down here. Before he could even react to that however, his eyes only grew wider when he began to hear the rustling of foliage in the distance. A moment later and he now suddenly found himself within the company of not one but two women, women whom were trying to persuade from killing the cub. It was clear they were trying their hardest but by this point? He was simply beyond saving. Instead of making a response, he only blinked a few times at the two. When he did finally return back to reality a few moments later, he found himself completely bewildered, trigging him to tilt his head in a confusing matter.

Ehhh? The hell is going on here???? This region is supposed to be abandoned.

Sighing out of frustration, he briefly closed his eyes before returning to his normal, composed self. He raised a brow at the two.

You two know it's dangerous down here don't you? It's called Astorea's wildland's for a reason.

He said that but in doing so, his head tilted in all direction in an attempt to examine the immediate area. He wasn't sure what happened but It seemed all the vines, branches and foliage where he was walking was no more. He further raised his brow until he realized the cub and it's mother were nowhere to be seen. He did wander where they went but considering It wasn't important, he removed the thought from his mind before turning to his attention back on the taller, blue hair woman whom was the second one to appear. Once he glanced down her body with his crimson eyes, his brows stayed where they were, curious If she was a new player, given her clothing were extremely basic in nature compared to the likes of everyone else. This prompted him to ask.

Are you by chance a new player? I'm asking since your clothes are kinda a give away. You want to fix that, especially If your the exploring type.

With the palms of his hand now firmly sitting on his hips, he turned his head in the direction of the "trail" that had just been made.

Well....maybe If were lucky, we may come across something you can use. Anything better than a basic set of linen clothes.

Than remembering the little girl, he shifted his attention on her with the same expression, curious If she had removed all the obstacles in his path.

Were you the one who cleared the way? If so, you have my thanks.....but I have to ask, why are you down here? Southern Astorea has never had a reputation for being safe, even when It was my responsibility to be so.

Harveste was a bit stunned when a woman more than a foot taller than her tried to separate her from the mysterious, taller man. The woman's words surprised her slightly. She did know this was a game, right? Sure, it didn't really have PVP mechanics, and it could kill you if you died too much, but... Wait, that wasn't important right now! Now the woman was in danger!

"Of course I know it's dangerous here! That's why I'm helping guide this merchant!" She gestured towards the cart that had carried her all this way. "I'm a traveler, and I'm guessing you're one too! I know this area perfectly well!" She huffed for a moment, puffing her cheeks, before being asked about her clearing the path.

"Yes, that was me. I'm an S-Rank nature mage, after all." She put her hands on her hips, proud of her accomplishment- though she only managed to get to S rank thanks to the transfer procedure of her character from the changes made to the Mastery system when Terrasphere resurfaced. "Wait... Your responsibility? Ah! So you're a noble from way back when?"

Astorea's Wildlands? Was that Alice's current location. She was not aware of that, although the girl supposed the wild nature of the land should have been some indication to her.

Lowering her arms, perceiving that the danger had passed, Alice answered the man's question. "Yes, I am new to the game. But what is 'Astorea'. Is that the name of the nation which we are currently in? Is it known for being dangerous?" Alice asked her tone suddenly shifting completely, becoming pleasant and hinting at a kind curiosity. Since it seemed that danger was not present, the girl defaulted to her public face. Even if she was not in the real world, her avatar was using her real face, and she did not desire to damage the reputation of her father's company by acting in an unbecoming manner.

Alice then looked over at the cart that the small girl indicated, "Is there a high crime rate in this area? It seems that the officials are not making efficient use of their resources," Alice commented, "Do they perhaps require more funding?"

The blue-haired girl then shifted her attention back to the tall man before her, suddenly bowing before him. "By the way, I must apologize. I did not mean to imply that you appeared like a ruffian. I hope you did not take any offense due to my actions." Alice then turned to the other girl, bowing towards her as well. "And I must apologize to you for my interference. I made a false assumption."

State: Fine.....now

He heard what she was saying but he still skeptical. Why would a merchant come all the way down here? And only with a single escort to boot? He couldn't doubt her ability despite her size and appearance but regardless, whatever their reasons, what that merchant was doing was reckless, worse even given the state of his former duchy. When she asked however If he was originally a noble, he made a nod with his head, crossing his arms in the process before he spoke up in a somewhat more serious tone.

That's correct, I am Seto Kurama, the former Duke of the Duchery of Ivalice, This entire region once belonged to me, not that It particularly matters now. Regardless, I have unfinished business here that demands my immediate attention, you?

He was curious to hear more on why she was here or more specifically, why the merchant was here but after hearing the soft voice of the other young woman that had suddenly appeared mere moments ago, he found himself diverting his attention back on to her. He first raised a eyebrow, than a single chuckle, that was than followed up with a laid back smile after she asked him two questions.

Ahh, right, your in need of a history lesson. Well...that's fine, we all go through it at one point or another, though few get to make history It seems.

Taking a seat on a old stump from a tree that had most likely fallen long ago, he crossed his left leg over the right while he brought his hands together before placing them in his lap.

Well for starters, Astorea is the medieval kingdom that was founded by the player known as "Astor" whom is still it's reigning King. It was founded nearly eight years ago when the previous state turned it's back on Falderen, a neighboring medieval kingdom to the east to side with the Yladian people. You would better know them as "Elves" from other fantasy settings. In the end, the old, the now defunt player ran guilds led by Astor were victorious in battle, thus he was crowned as Astorea's first king.

Clearing his throat, he continued as he crossed his arms against his broad, covered chest.

As for the specific's, Astorea is a medieval state, thus it has no standing army unless you want to consider the hero complex wannabe players that volunteer. A player driven combat unit isn't a substitute for a professional standing army so as you might expect, Astorea isn't the most safest of locations....but than again, were essentially in a medieval world with magic and the occasional mytho you might run across. That said, If you stick to the main roads that are actively patrolled, you should be fine. A Medieval city isn't that much different from a modern one besides for the obvious. You get used to it.

For a instance, he briefly paused as his head tilted over his shoulders in all direction to quickly examine the area. Once he deemed it clear of any hostilities, he brought his attention back on the young woman.

Down here however is a different story. While Astorea is broken up into several regions such as Western Brisshal and Lake Horatio, Southern Astorea is a nothing but a wasteland that's stuck within the center of a mountain ridge, like a valley of sorts. Between it being difficult to travel here and the dangers that potentially lurk, any attempts of colonization here have failed...including my own. As such, you won't find any hints of civilizations down here besides the occasional ruins.

Sighing in a disapprovingly matter, he closed his eyes for a moment before flashing them open again.

I can't say for certain....but If I'm being honest? Probably not, no, but there's little that can be done about it considering Astorea is a absolute monarchy. Astor is a King of conquest, not a individual whom was raised to rule over a kingdom. In my four year absence, It seems little has changed and I highly doubt It will. I'm not even sure If the old capital will ever be cleaned up after all the damage it sustained during the civil war.

He sighed again. While he had no desire to rule over his land like he had done in the past, he really wished Astor would have gotten on the ball and made improvements to the kingdom he helped founded and defended. Even If he was only a warrior now, It was still a depressing thought to him. When the young woman apologized however, he waved it off with a hand gesture and a smile.

It's fine, there's no need to apologize. It's not as If were in any formal activity such as court. Feel free to act like yourself, and If that includes bombarding me with a million questions, that fine too. I'd rather have you informed than aimlessly walking around and potentially harming yourself.

Making a soft chuckle, he than turned slightly more serious.

That said, If you wish to be treated as a Lady in waiting of the court, that's fine too. I'm well versed in proper etiquette, a skill....that is surely lacking in many players unfortunately.

State: Alive. For now.

So far, Elias' experience have been eventful in Terrasphere. Just on his first day, he encountered very spirited players and eventually got himself in a fight with bandits. Because of what had happened to him, he decided to revisit the VR game in order to further explore the world and gain some more experience on the way. Though it was not entirely pleasant due to the pain and exhaustion he felt, the many mysteries that have yet to be uncovered by him is more than enough to keep him motivated to play. Maybe he will meet other players again on the way. He hopes to gain the opportunity to listen to their insights and stories based on their own experiences here.

When Elias spawns back into the game, he reappears as his in-game avatar: a handsome young man with a pair of blue eyes and black hair which includes strokes of ash white. He had medium armor on which took the form of a black and white tunic with blue accents, black pants, armored boots that reach up to his thighs, and a short white cape with a black edge. He also wore this gauntlet that is attached to his left arm and a set of faulds at his waist. Then his right gloved arm had red marks. Finally, there was an empty sword scabbard resting at his left side.

The first thing he does after spawning was looking at his surroundings. Admiring the scenery. He had no words to really describe what he sees currently. Since before, he was silenced by the impressive hyper realism of the fantasy world. But at some point, he is hit by these "instincts" to move to some random direction. As much as he wanted to, he could not disobey. It appears his soul bonded weapon is telling him to go somewhere once again. The last time he listened to it, he was brought to a tavern where he met other players and went on a bandit hunt with them. Elias gets this feeling that he will confront a similar scenario.

"Let's see where you're gonna take me this time."

He mutters with a sigh. Every time he feels these instincts kicking in, he could not help but feel a little bit nervous. After all, he is walking to an unknown destination which may or may not lead to disaster.

* * *

A long time had passed since he begun his journey. He travelled a great distance to reach where he is now—a forest in Astorea. It was exhausting to say the least. But what makes his situation worse is that his weapon had now gone completely silent. It was no longer telling him where to go. Without a guide, Elias wasn't sure on what to do. He blinks in pure confusion, looking at the trees that surround him.

"This can't be it..."

The knight-looking figure scratches the back of his head out of stress. He really did not know what to do now. There doesn't seem to be anyone in sight so out of desperation, he proceeds to call for any assistance.

"Hello!? Is anyone out there!?"

When Alice turned towards her, bowing, Harveste instinctively mimicked her and bowed right back towards the woman. "It's fine, really! I appreciate you trying to protect me." The small woman stood up straight, smiling cheerfully. It was after that that Seto gave the two a quick history lesson.

Harveste laughed nervously. "I think I heard about that four years ago and forgot. I remember Astorea well enough, just not the history. It's easy to forget things that didn't play a part in your life for four years, I guess." Besides, Harveste had other worries throughout those four years. Her writing career had really taken off, and she'd still been grieving the real-world death of her girlfriend. Actually, Harveste was still coming to terms with this... But she said nothing about it for the time being.

But then, a distant shout echoed just loud enough for her to hear, possibly because her bear friend had heard it and nudged her. She nodded to the bear and looked at Seto and Alice. "Someone's lost in the woods, so I'm going to go find them. Can one of you keep an eye on the merchant for me? Thanks!"

Climbing onto her big bear friend, the bear and cub rushed with her towards the call for help. She began to sing as they ran, clearing the path by moving plants and byproducts of them out of their way with her song. Man did it feel good singing a solemn yet heartwarming melody. But the song all but stopped when she saw a man she didn't know- Elias Stryker. She climbed off the bear a few feet away from the man before walking over to him and holding out a hand.

"Are you lost, sir? I made a path, if you'd like me to lead you to others in these woods."

Pleased that neither the tall, blue haired man, nor the small, pink-haired girl had taken any offense towards Alice's grievous miscalculation, the girl smiled softly, and nodded before kneeling down and sitting seiza in the forest to listen to the man's brief history lesson on the region.

Nodding quietly as he finished, Alice said, "I see now. Thank you for the lesson," only for the cry of another to set Alice back on alert, and shoot her to her feet.

"Someone's lost in the woods, so I'm going to go find them," the girl reported.

"It may be dangerous, please allow me to-"

"Can one of you keep an eye on the merchant for me? Thanks!"

And she was off. Alice did not like letting the small girl wander off on her own in search of the mystery man, but she did as she was requested, the passive look on her face returning as she strode over to the merchant's cart and began to slowly circle it, eyes fixed on the environment around it, searching for potential danger.

Her flowing white clothes fluttered in the breeze as the blindfolded woman dexterously weaved her way through the trees and bushes. It had only been a few days since she had started playing this game, but already she was growing used to using her enhanced hearing as a form of echolocation. Her little adventures with Caelia had helped more than a little with that.

The dirt crunched underneath her feet as she navigated a particularly tight opening in between two trees, muttering under her breath. There was no way her clothes would come out of this the same color they came in. It was all in pursuit of the greatest swordsman in the game. She had spent the last night drinking herself into the ground in a tavern in one of Falderen's many small towns. Her drinking partner for the night, one of the many NPC's in attendance, had told more than his fair share of ridiculous sounding stories. Athena highly doubted that even one of them were true, but most tall tales are based off a grain of truth.

She looked up, her hand brushing a strand of golden hair out of her face. Even through the blindfold she could clearly see the magical aura's of a small group of people ahead. The tip of her sheathed sword crunched into the ground as she leaned on it, the large and intricate piece of metal serving as her walking stick for the moment. Perhaps the group might have some information on where she could find the greatest swordsman ever. How was she supposed to pester him to teach her if she couldn't find him in the first place?

She hummed to herself quietly as she moved to approach the short one. Her lips parted as she drew nearer.

"Child, do you happen to know the whereabouts of Chad the Golden Fury?"

After finishing his history lesion, he remained initially quiet, taking the time to enjoy the brief silence he had been given before It was interrupted by the nervous laughter of one of his companions. Looking up, he turned his gaze on the little girl after hearing what she had to say. He shrugged his shoulders while making a sympatric brow.

That you cannot be blamed for. It was eight years ago after all. I only remember since I've been involved with Astorea since it's founding.

With his left elbow resting on his lap, he rested the base of his head within his left palm as he eyed those around him. That was a long time ago now that he thought about it. It was kinda hard to believe but that only asked a more important question, how many were left? Of individuals like himself whom were around since day one? With the exception of his old rival, now friend, Lucia, all those he remembered were either gone or no more. It was depressing of sorts, even If he was now married to his Lioness. He would have thought more about the past but a sudden shout caught his attention, causing him to peak his head up, just as the little girl asked him to watch over things before running off to investigate. He sighed but accepted the responsibility before turning to the older woman, whom had thanked him before trying to off aid to the other woman who had run off. Remembering her gratitude but wanting her to stay, given her low level, he made a nod in her direction meeting her eyes with his own.

If she's a S ranked mage like she claims, then there's no need to worry. Few things can kill a S rank player in these woods. That said, while we wait, how about you tell me a little about yourself? Than I'll do the same If you want? Feel free to ask whatever on your mind. I'm a pretty honest man with little to hide.

Smiling at the woman, he pulled himself off the tree stump walking a few few feet to join her. Upon waving to the merchant whom had taken a likening to hiding in the back of the covered wagon, he took his position at the rear. Not expecting much in the form of danger, he ended up resting up against the wagon as he awaited for the woman to respond. His eyes still examined the perimeter however for any danger that might appear. He was doubtful but he hoped they wouldn't run into any undead. He didn't want to think anymore on the matter that everyone that had put their faith in him had died to his disappearance. He shook his head for a moment, he needed to focus on the now, not the past even If it was difficult.

The Sapphire Sword Saint

100 / 100

State: Alive. For now.

Elias continues to stress his worry while he remained in the forest. Shortly his voice got tired so the young sword wielder takes a moment to catch a quick rest. He takes a look around for a moment, finding a nearby tree to use as a surface to lean on. Though his time of rest was short as he begins to hear movement not too far from him.

"Is someone there?"

The knight shouts and looks towards where the sound was coming from. He hopes that it would be a friendly creature that answers his call for aid. If not, Elias was ready to fight—depending on what arrives. Thankfully it would be a little girl accompanied by beats of the forests. A sigh of relief exits his body as he lowers his guard.

"Thank goodness... And yes, I am. I would really appreciate some of your assistance. Sorry if I made too much of a ruckus. My sword has been taking me places and it's always a strange one. I don't suppose you're a friend who is here to help? If so, please let me fulfill any favor you might have."

Like any proper knight would, he greets Harveste with proper chivalry. He curls his right hand into a fist and gently places it on top of his heart. He follows up by giving a bow towards her.

"My name is Elias. Elias Striker. At your service."

Lifting his head back up, he looks focuses on the girl and expresses this friendly smile. There was no reason for him to be so cautious now. Despite the presence of bears, he was not afraid. He wanted to show that he means no harm and that he was a friendly.

Eventually he learns that him and Harveste weren't the only ones in the forest. Athene would make her presence known eventually so he shifts his attention to her briefly. Curious to what her request was about. He then waits to see if Harveste, the person that found him, would grant the priestess-looking figure an answer.

The childish looking woman blinked a few times before shaking her head. "I'm afraid I've never heard of them... But I can ask the merchant I was escorting through the woods if you'd like." Harveste smiled to the stranger, before holding a hand out to her. "My name is Harveste. Also... I know I look young, but I'm already in my thirties. Not that that's very old for a Faerin, I guess. It's only a fifth of my lifespan, if I remember right."

She then turned to Elias, the man she'd come to aid. "If you'd both follow me, I'll show you where other people are located. I had to ask one of the others to watch the merchant, so I'm a little worried." The bears decided to bid their farewell at that point, growling at Harveste before turning hide and wandering off. She pouted slightly.

"I was going to ask the mama for a ride back, but I guess walking's not so bad." She laughed, turning to Elias and Athena. "Well, follow me." It wouldn't take them long to get to the others, thanks to the path she'd set up on her way there. When she saw Seto and Alice in view, she waved over to them, shouting. "Hey you guys! I found some new friends! Also, do any of you know a guy named Chad?"

State: Annoyed....

Everything was calm and quiet on their end, though a bit too much for his taste but that was just his paranoia talking. After several minutes though, he was beginning to find himself concerned with the little girl's well being. What exactly was talking so long? Granted, she was out of his sight so she must have walked a fair bit but still, It wasn't as If that shout that they they heard was the far off. Perhaps he should have gone in her place instead, considering his new found mastery over speed. He would have been there in a instant but atlas, he left the little girl go instead. She was a S ranked mage after all. He was sure she was fine despite his paranoia disagreeing with him. That seemingly changed overnight when his eyes took notice of the little girl in the distance waving towards him and the other young woman, citing she found other individuals. When she mentioned "Chad" however, a loud, disappointing like groan escaped from his lips, causing the man to tilt his head towards the ground and smack his forehead with the left palm of his hand.

Uggghhh....seriously? Were talking about "HIM" now? That man or should I say, little boy, is so dam overrated. That buffon intelligent as a monkey yet all the women flock to him thinking he's the greatest person to ever grace this world. If that man wasn't attractive, no one would even deal with him, let alone take him seriously...

Not even a week in and somebody was already asking for that buffon. Couldn't Chad or his fan girls just disappear and leave this world alone? Was It that much to ask for? To just have a world filled with composed, mature individuals? Or he was fated to deal with idiots for the reminder of his time here?

Athena smiled kindly to the Faerin before letting out a quiet laugh at the correction.

It appears I have made the same mistake again. You Faerin are quite small, arent you?

She asked, her voice having a slightly breathy quality to it, as though she wasn't entirely there. Her eyes flicked over to the bears, marveling at the fact that no one else seemed fazed by them. Thinking it best to play along, she quickly looked away. She followed Harvest back towards the cart, her clothes billowing around her.

She glanced over at Seto, wincing noticeably as she noticed his magical aura. It wasn't painful exactly, but it was certainly stronger than Harveste's, and that was saying something. These were strong people, maybe even dangerous people. She couldn't think of anyone better to garner information from.

I suppose even if this Chad is an unintelligent ladies man, if his sword skills are as good as I've heard I can put up with him. Who better to learn from than an expert, after all?

She brushed a strand of golden hair out of her face, smiling up at Seto. She had been almost certain this Chad fellow was made up, but by some miracle this man seemed to know him.

It is obviously Endra's will that we meet... I'm Athena. Is it possible that your strength comes from training with Chad?

When the ground finally approached him and the young woman he had founded, he batted a eyebrow. A Paladin and a Priestess? Now this was surprisingly. He had expected another individual or two like the young woman besides him but clergy members? This was out of his expectations but It was intriguing nevertheless. He wondered what clergy members were down here. He wasn't aware of any holy locations within his old domain. He would have known surely If there was since the clergy of any religion or faith could be a nuisance, politically or not. Regardless, after he thought out loud after hearing the feminine voice's question, he still found himself in a dismissive mode when she mentioned Chad again. In response, he inadvertently waved that notion off with his head. His eyes closed as he spoke in a similar tone from before.

If by expert, you mean charging straight into combat like a idiot? Than yes, I suppose so.....But there's more to being a warrior than charging head first into battle.....He gives us real warriors a bad reputation...

Sighing deeply, as If he had been insulted somehow, he returned his gaze upon the Priestess, just as she removed one of her loose bangs from where her eyes would be, only for them to be detained by some sort of black cloth, hiding them from his view. While normally, most individuals would question why or how she would get around, he was far from normal. From personal experience in this world and the other, he knew better. While she was obviously blind, he instantly knew she was highly entuned with her surroundings, either feeling the vibrations in the ground or presumably, using her magic to move and fight. While he certainly fought using his eyes and his sixth sense for danger, he too could fall back on such abilities If he needed. Meditation and experience had provided that. Once he was finished being momentarily captivated by her ability and admittedly to some degree, her mysterious beauty that he couldn't describe, he returned a smile of his own as she introduced himself before asking where the source of his strength came from. He made a faint bow, as to show respect to a Priestess.

Well met and apologies my lady for my earlier transgressions. I am Seto Kurama, the former Duke of this area, It is a pleasure to meet you.

After making his introduction, his demeanor turned more serious when he decided to answer her question.

Through trials of combat, determination, the drive to succeed no matter the odds. True warriors aren't born, but created, forged through the anvils of battle.....but even with that, valor alone isn't enough. One must know how to discipline themselves, as well as wield the correct mindset. A warrior without honor or a purpose is no warrior at all. While Chad may know how to fight and may even be honorable or brave, he lacks the demeanor, the mindset of a true warrior.

Inhaling a gasp of breath, he rested his eyes for a moment as he laid against the wagon, looking up the blue sky.

That said, it's been four years since this world disappeared from our own. Such peace makes people lazy, weak, easy to forget the past, ignorant even. It's always easy to take the simple route, to forget or be ignorant....but to a true warrior? the training, the experiences, it never ends, even during peace time.

Letting out a relieved sigh, having gotten that off his chest, he opened his eyes and smiled at Athena before taking a seat on the covered wagon's back ledge. Folding his hands together, he retained his attention on the Priestess as he spoke, this time in a more friendly tone.

Regardless, If you so desire, I could train you, as well as your escort, though If I'm being honest my lady, you may require a different garb, one....that's more practical.

As soon as he finished though, he than remembered Athena had mentioned a "Endra". He didn't know what this Endra was but he could only guess It was some sort of deity, like the one Lucia worshipped. That made him caress the base of his china as he turned to Athena with a curious expression.

Apologies my lady but you have to forgive my ignorance. I do not know who this "Endra" is. I can only assume it is some deity yes? Unfortunately, despite all my travels, I never learned much in the ways of faith, or the deities they belonged to.

He said that without thinking but he hoped It didn't bite him in the ass like when he asked Lucia the same question. He didn't really understand the annoyance she had gone through. He was ignorant on the matter but in all the time he had spent here, there was always something more practical to learn or do than interact with religion, whom to his knowledge at the time, was probably fake, being used to exploit the masses. While he may no longer be ignorant on that matter, he wondered If it make any difference, that they would come to his aid should he ask for it.

Alice was not entirely convinced that the blue-haired man's argument was sound. History had shown countless times that a single powerful force could be overtaken via numbers or careful planning. Or simply one of either in excess or high quality. However, at the insistence of both the girl's and the man's Alice was content enough that she would not allow her concerns to interfere with either's decision.

"What is it that you would like to know?" Alice responded to the man, just as the girl reappeared with both a man and a woman. And it was just then, it seemed, that the taller man's composure began to slip as he began a detailed criticism of this 'Chad'.

"I am not certain that you hold yourself to the ideals you have just proclaimed," Alice commented, as the man finished with an offer to train the newly arrived woman. "Please correct me if I am incorrect, but if you had the discipline you claim, should you not have withheld your outburst, and instead began with your criticisms?" Surely, that would have been more efficient and effective in proving that he was the more suited mentor.

Those who do evil do so only in ignorance of the greatest of goddesses. Endra! The goddess of justice shall not stand for their deeds.

The priestess exclaimed animatedly, waving her greatsword around. She pretty much glossed over the rest of the man's commentary, so stuck on the fact that he had no idea who the most merciful and powerful goddess in the land was. Her cheeks were flushed and she was breathing heavily by the time she had finished flailing. She gestured towards the blue haired woman.

The lady speaks the truth. It would be too much of a gamble to train from one whose mouth seems to get more use than their blade.

Athena peered at Seto suspiciously. If the greatest swordsman of all time truly existed, of course he would have haters. Haters who knew how to swing words instead of swords, unable to match up to Chad's skill. Of course, she was skeptical of Chad as well, but she hadn't met him yet so she was reserving judgement. Plus, how could one truly be a warrior without knowing of Endra? That was impossible, and so she inched a little further away from him and closer to the woman.

He found himself on the back foot of their criticism but he just shrugged with a straight face. He wouldn't expect a new player, a random priestess or really anyone who has lived the life of a normal civilian to understand the horror's of war or one who has given themselves to it. While he was no war mongrel or some individual who enjoyed the act of killing, he was no different than the ancestors who had came before him, the ones who had dedicated themselves to it in the hopes of protecting their country and all those who lived within it. Just like they had, he morphed his principles around the very same philosophy, the seven ways that made up the creed of a true warrior and yet, they had the gall to question his personal experience and belief's into doubt? Normally that type of talk would have annoyed him or anyone who took combat seriously but by this point in his life, that was something he had learned to accept, especially those from here who had little idea what true combat was like, that you had no special powers, that you only had one life, one life to make it count, and If you wanted to make it count, you would have to indulge yourself further into the arts of war, but only If you lived by rigid principles to keep yourself in check, to ensure you would never lose your way and become a monster.

I am only human....and we humans make mistakes, I am no exception...but that doesn't mean I don't try to live up to my own standards that were set in stone hundreds of years ago. It is no secret to anyone I often let my annoyance to get the best of me when a individual is ignorant on a matter but that is just one of my faults as a person, a fault I continually strive to fix. Atlas....such a fault does come to the surface at times...so again, I do apologize. It is unbecoming of a warrior who takes war seriously.

Leaning back, he closed his eyes in silence as he took a moment to exhale some trapped air before lifting himself off the wagon's back ledge. He wrapped his arms under the long sleeves of his white yukata before tilting his head over his shoulder towards Athena, still retaining a composed demeanor.

That said, I shouldn't have to tell either one of you that it's a virtue to withhold judgement on a individual or a concept until you learn truth via facts, not biasism...but than again, you have no reason to believe the words of a war veteran.

Shifting his head back over his shoulder until he was facing the direction he had been coming from, he took his temporary leave of the two as he walked a dozen or two feet away. Removing the two from his mind for the time being, he began examining the surrounding area to see If he could find any remnants of a road that led to his old settlement. He was still concerned about that small women that had disappeared several minutes ago but she was a S rank mage. There really was no need for concern until she did something truly foolish.
