Ronja had reached out to her, like a plea of sorts which she answered fully with a tight grip against that broken, twitchy hand.

"Rrrronja... C- hearrrr you..."Half-machine and yet these cries felt so human, so distressed, yet she tried her best at her command. Her focus quivered. It forced the knight to close her heart to Ronja's suffering for a moment, if only to mend what little's possible. Some form of success brought a gasp for relief, her voice and wits returning to themselves. There was hope for Ronja if magic could still piece her together.

There was movement, and the form she adopted earlier had started to twist back and return to what she first met her as. A hand pushed her head off the floor, just in time to notice the glow on her eyes, the unnatural tears and the lack of sync on these camera lens of hers.

"Photo, photo. Yeah?" She muttered, a broken smile tried to hold back her own tears- Despite how hard she tried, she's still a sentimental to a fault, and the torn Magia wasn't doing this any simpler to her. Just for once she hoped Ronja would start taking pictures again.

All that's left for her to tap into is her frustrations as a means to add coal to her heart, and the premise that her red threaded companion couldn't be fixed hit all too close. It couldn't be the same, but there was some sort of kinship she could share right now with her.

"You can't be helped Nico, can you?"

"Shut it. I'm not leaving you, we'll... get out of this one. It's just a scratch." Fiora pushed herself back to her feet once she felt Ronja lean against her, gritting teeth, limping and with her arms carrying the scout, the blonde set off through the path they took. Uncertain of where to go aside of Honeyhome. Much like wandering aimlessly across a desert without a drop of water.

The scout felt warm, warmer than Ronja even. She guessed it had to be a fever of some kind, which would explain why he wasn't waking up whatsoever as the boy had fallen ill. For how long? She couldn't tell, only the blood she left behind worked as a guide.

"Keep talking, tell me a story." Sore legs begun to slow down as her strength begun to wane. All that was left is the possibility that there was a solution that didn't need for her to rest, but the idea had slipped her mind too many times before actually having any meaning, her mind cracked in conflict, stress, pain... "There is a power stone near Honeyhome. I'll get us there, everything will be fine." Fine. That word she kept repeating over and over.

That's all she asked for, just a little more out of her body, the clouded vision and the weight that started to get notorious between the two of them.

"Get... Out..." Ronja's voice faintened, yet her face buried further. Uncertainty crawled in her chest as a familiar feeling of impending doom neared. It wouldn't be the first time, and if she stopped to think about it, it wouldn't be the last either. After all, this was just a game.

Even if considering the rumors, there were still two lives in. So why she felt so frustrated about it?

"Photo-" Her eyes clicked again, slowly. The memories rewinded, reflecting that scene again. Suddenly she had an answer to that question. It was frustrating because she was risking an actual loss for once.

When asked to keep talking, to tell a story, Ronja's eyes flickered.

"S-Story-" Ronja paused.

"Ro... nja do-- t... have many stories..." She muttered. What story she could tell? "N- t a good storyteller" She added.

"... Ronja... does like one... fairy tal--"

She struggled for a moment, finally slipping: "Repunzel" Ronja said.

"O-Once upon... a time... Two caring parents to-- k care of their daug-- er with lots of lo--" Ronja's eyes clicked, tightening for a moment.

"They liv hap-- ly, but som-- hing... someone took away t--- ghter"

She flickered, grasping on the 2 EN she had remaining, and the HP that slowly withered away with the 'blood' that trailed along with Fiora's.

"T-- d-- ghter liv- at the top of a tower-" Ronja tried to continue. "Sh-- wis-- see the w--rld, but sh- was told th-- world was bad... very... bad for her."

Ronja paused, remaining quiet for a handful of seconds, with her voice failing to come out. Yet, she forced it out.

"O-- day-- pr--nce s--w th- singin-- top..." The voice faltered, and the world around Ronja darkened and deafened. She couldn't sense anything else, but she continued to tell the story.

"R--pzel-- th-- hair--" Her hold on Fiora was gone.

"-- Met --" Ronja's eyes clicked, slowly becoming colorless and empty, only having a red dot pinging every two seconds.

"T-- pri-- sho-- her-- world..."

And the darkness silenced her.

She hoped that these words were meant for them, to keep on moving. To 'Get out' of here the two of them. It had to be, she wouldn't have it any other way regardless. The weakness in Ronja's voice only served to push her onwards, every sense her body could have muted itself if only to listen to the broken sounds, where there is an attempt to cling to conciousness, much like her own right now.

"N- t a good storyteller"

"I bet you know... One, at least." Fiora encouraged, rewarded with just that: a story, and a peculiar one at that, as the last she expected was for it to be a fairy tale from all the things Ronja could say.

But she held her reservations in and kept quiet. Sore legs and one burnt out feet, stressed by the weight it shoveled forth with each step Fiora limped, where pieces of the story were skipped unconciously so, in the desperate last seconds still left.

Each line followed a few steps, energy derived entirely from the voice on top of her. Double-vision dominated the view, to the point she forced her eyes shut to wander like a rotten, reanimated corpse would. The peace this brought, suffocated by the stress and the far cry from her wounded leg that still pinches at her nerves was all shut once Ronja's grip failed her, forcing her to take a grasp of her arm to keep her atop.

She fell on one knee, struggling to keep the kid against her chest, and just now she caught up on the ceaseless dripping blood that trailed behind them.

"Don't give up on me I'm-I can't do this alone." Tears begun to overflow her eyes, the one barrier keeping her from herself had been that story, the story about a girl stuck in a tower to avoid the bad, bad world that awaited her outside. The bittersweet tale left her only with memories down her train of thought. On one hand, that helped her push herself back to her feet, despite the overwhelming stress it put on her body, or the fact it's been a few hours since she has eaten in the real world and probably physical weakness had started to take over.

She honestly couldn't tell, not when the most dangerous enemy lurked right within her skull, and her family was the cause of what wrathful, tight grasp she wore on both scout and magia alike. Her right foot reached for the ground, the misshapen metal burying itself deeper inside her heel and toes alike, but no scream left her mouth by now, just the gasps for air she so needed to keep them moving.

It helped with the weight, long-lasting damage be damned, she would cut it off if it became an impediment after they made it through- They would make it through, that's all that mattered. That's what her tiresome smile told her...

The Fifth Power Stone.

The rivers rushed next to the pulsating, ten foot tall stone. It pulsated with energy, that much her Investigation Mode told her so, raw mana she just needed to find a way to access to-

Warning: Low EN remaining.

Her status kept flickering notifications, She had been playing resource management all this time, dropping one or three points along the way just to heal Ronja, yet her condition wouldn't get any better with such poor output on the knight's side. It only prolonged their suffering. Fortunately, the dark-haired child had begun to settle his temperature back to normal, and the dagger at his waist glowed faintly in purple, eye-catching to Fiora given the proximity, but inconsequential at this point.

Leaving the child on the ground as best as she could, the blonde dignified herself to crawl across the grass, where the waters clashed quietly with the back of the stone, and magic permeated the air around it. Colours would blur slightly across the roots next to it, as if influence had zapped into the flora, indicating just how long this stone had been up for: who knows? Centuries? Millenia? But it didn't matter, the game wasn't that old, right?

But that's not what she could think about now, but to place Ronja's back against it. That was as much as she could do now, once bloodloss had gotten bad enough, despite how lesser it was, that her head begun to spin. Dizy, confused, Fiora extended one hand up to the magia's face, one last attempt to grace her cheek, to try and tap her back to life, as if they were merely sleeping all this time. Her hand flickered with magic, one last mumble overhead by the scout in his stupor as the child begun to look around, drowsy like it's been years since it last got up.

And the last of her EN went for Ronja, for one last pitiful heal, one last surge of chronomancy that reverted mere seconds by now, before she dropped on her lap, arms wrapped protectively around her waist to keep the water from dragging them even an inch away, despite how it kept splashing droplets on them whenever the river clashed against the back of the power stone.

The emptiness was the only thing Ronja could see, hear and feel. Something that lingered for a time that the magia couldn't really grasp, being lost in where and when exactly she was. After all, there was no consciousness for her to rationalize it, she was just lost in limbo, in oblivion.

This emptiness eventually flickered, and in the depths of the darkness, a glowing message appeared.

MAGIC SOURCE ACQUIRED
EMERGENCY RECHARGE MODE CANCELLED
RAPID RECHARGE HAS BEGUN

Her fingers twitched and in a matter of a handful of minutes, her eyes opened, glowing with the mana that overflowed from the stone toward her body. A quiet cough escaped from her lips, and while her body was still numb from its biocomponents being deactivated, Ronja could notice Fiora wrapping her body closely.

"... Fiora..?" She muttered, holding her shoulder and gently trying to shake her awake before noticing the blood.

Pursing her lips, Ronja held her friend closely as well, releasing some of the mana from the power stone that was flowing through her body to Fiora, using her own body as a filter and a catalyst to turn the mana into healing energy.

Slowly, she hoped that would keep her friend safe.

Enough blood had pooled on her feet after several minutes. She could only hear the clash of the little waves against the pillar, the sound that put her to sleep right infront of the Magia, yet what she hoped for it to be relief had been all but that. It left her with dread moments before succumbing to her wounds.

She tried hard enough to save her, and yet all she could do was pass out, knowing they both would die there and then. The fact this could be their first death and not the last did help soothe her mind at least a little bit, knowing there is nothing left to do and she did her best.

But that didn't help her to keep the feelings of failure away, feelings she shouldn't be having right now, given the lack of conciousness...

"... Fiora..?"

"Hey, you are awake!" The golden haired boy called out with a sigh of relief just as he saw the Magia open her eyes, just a few steps away from the bonfire he begun to spark flames into from the tip of his fingers, his sword set aside as he rushed next to the pair and kneeled, with enough space between them

"Ronja... Ronja I'm-" Fiora's airheaded voice slipped out of her lips, in a half-dormant half-awake state as she shook her head slightly to the side. Her eyes opened seconds after, her cheeks a combination between the droplets from the near river, and the tears that welled on her eyes right now, hopeless emeralds gazing up to the magia, weakened in body and mind. "Are we..?" Confusion crossed her mind at the worst of timings, groggy as if her slumber had been eternal and only now the Magia had snapped her out of it.

Like a fairy tale, only it was a spell what awakened her and not a kiss.

"Dead? No you two aren't. But neither of you look too good right now..." He pointed out to Fiora's foot, wrapped on leather to try and keep the blood from leaving his body. That's as much as he could do for her. The Magia however... Deities know how to help her, because he sure didn't, and there is a limit to how much his own magical output can help the pair, yet Ronja would notice at least some extra mana went to help fix her out. "Ah! Sorry! I've been trying to keep an eye out for you two. Did you got sent by Honeyhome? I should have known they would have stuck their noses on the mines sooner or later!" He huffed, scratching away at his chin. "But hey, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you two."

A small, relieved smile crossed Ronja's lips when Fiora responded, being so focused on her that she barely had heard the boy calling for her at first. "Fiora..! Are you alright..?" Ronja asked, looking at her friend with a concerned expression, tilting her eyes and clicking them twice as she analyzed her carefully.

No immediate big wounds, but it was clear she was still in pain and a bit groggy.

The boy's presence became more clear as time passed. She turned her face to look at him, pursing her lips when he mentioned neither of them looking good.

"Yes... Ronja is..." She looked down at her destroyed feet, then up at Fiora, now a bit more concerned.

"But we can think about that later. Fiora, is your HP stable? Ronja's maximum HP is severed, but it isn't dropping anymore." She revealed, resting a hand on the power stone and brushing it softly before looking at the boy.

"And yours? Are you okay? Ronja can try to transfer some of the stone's energy to you."

That look of concern just didn't register, it was the energy on Ronja's features what did, the way these eyes clicked, and how life returned to her friend... Is it fair to call her friend already? She had gotten used to near death experiences, but certainly nothing like this. Her heart had the answer, given how it frantically beats in response.

"My legs are numb and everything hurts." She wished she could lie about it, but that's all she could feel right now as her body started to get back to it's senses and feel the aftermath of the colossal journey taken to the power stone.

Fiora gently turned herself around until she had the back of her head against Ronja's legs, or what was left of them at least, getting a good look at the scout for a moment, seconds later realizing who exactly this were, despite the sunlight flashing her out.

"But we can think about that later. Fiora, is your HP stable? Ronja's maximum HP is severed, but it isn't dropping anymore."

"I don't know." Soon after Fiora opened her UI, the revelation had her in shock to see it having reached the two digits, and still dropping albeit slowly. "Something's still doing damage..." She mumbled out, eyes dropping to her foot once again.

"It might be still bleeding, I can't take off the armor though it's kind of buried in... What even happened to you two?" The boy replied, giving a glance back to Ronja and waving a hand of dismissal in her way, before pulling out that strange looking dagger that almost looked like a lightning bolt (Now that they give it a closer look) with a black hilt, and a faint purple glow upon the center of the hilt. "I'm okay, I think one of you two charged this up in the way here. I felt terrible, I couldn't even talk to you two while you carried me away, but I heard it all- Nice story by the way, I loved it." He smiled back at Ronja, but then snapped back to reality: They were wounded and in need of medical attention, despite the Magia's insistence to focus on her partner first. "S-sorry. Hey uhhm, miss? I know it's too much to ask but we need to take off that boot and treat the wound or she's not gonna heal." He added, setting himself next to Fiora, leaning moreso towards Ronja's side, while the former gave him a concerned glare, shared back to the one holding her right now.

"...This shit's gonna hurt isn't it." Fiora merely sighed it off, waving at them to proceed, grimmacing expression aside.

Ronja winced at the honest and undesired response. Of course, everything hurt, her poor friend was in such a bad condition that Ronja didn't even know where to start to treat her. The bad news about the HP dropping got Ronja at the verge of another panic, but this time she held her breath, mustering a quivering smile and brushing Fiora's hair out of her face.

"Ronja will try to do something." She said, looking up at the boy scout and looking at him with an apologetic expression. "Sorry, Ronja didn't even talk to you... Ronja is Ronja Bubblyfoot, and this is Ronja's friend, Fiora." Ronja introduced themselves, adjusting and giving room for the scout to approach. "We came to try and rescue you, but there was... That thing there, blocking our path." Her lips pursed, offering her bruised hand for Fiora to hold while her other hand reached to work and assist the scout.

"Probably... It will hurt. So hold as tight as you wish." She said firmly to Fiora, sideglancing at the scout and having a faint blush on her cheeks.

"So you listened to it..." Ronja muttered, sheepish. "Yes... Ronja does love that story a lot." She said, slowly using her arcanamancy on the boots and armor, trying to soften their hard metallic surface, forcing it to change into something more malleable and easier to move.

The scout just waved his hands in dismissal, wide smile like a sunshine spread over his face as if this wasn't the first time, and it really wasn't. "It's okay Ronja, people tend to take me lightly, but hey that just means I gotta try harder until everyone sees what I'm made of. I'm Kael, Kael of Redford!" Shiny introductions set aside, a far more serious look dropped his face into a frown at the mention of 'something else'... "So you beat it up, right? The golem thing. It took over the earth elementals the miners unearthed by accident... Ah but we can keep that for later!" He nodded once, keeping things far more cryptic than he wished, but priorities were priorities-

"Probably... It will hurt. So hold as tight as you wish."

Fiora gnawed on her lower lip and firmly squeezed back as if she were about to get laid on an operating table and split open to do surgery all while concious. A bit exaggerated from her side, but the panic still didn't really left her from earlier... Would it be a good moment to say she plays with pain settings on?

Kael begun to mentally prepare himself, muttering incantations he could remember at the top of his head, yet snapped out once Ronja inquired, sharing a bit of that embarassment the magia felt as his own face turned red. "S-sorry I didn't meant to, I couldn't cover my ears or anythin-"

"Can we talk AFTER I STOP HURTING?!"
Fiora snapped, invigorated momentarily so, as Ronja might be able to tell given how unsually quiet the blonde's raging vocal cords were in comparison to their earlier encounters.

"Alright hold on!"

Kael exhaled a quick breathe out of his mouth, hyping himself up inside of his mind, just then Ronja begun to work her magic on the boots, something impressive to the lander given the state of her body, truly something else- What got him out of that curiosity were the cries out of Fiora's mouth, the muffled groans kept in as she bit her tongue down and gritted through the pain, crooked metal spikes were slowly pulled out. She closed her eyes, tightening her grip on Ronja's hand once again. The pain could have been all the worse if it weren't for how the magia molded the remnants of her boot the way she did, unraveling it until her bare foot was completely visible, covered on blood, both dry and fresh, aswell as dirt.

Kael quickly created a small flame with both hands and lead it towards the wound, the heat almost got her to cry for a moment, but tears for a whole different reason had dried out her eyes, sparing her from doing so now.

"F-FF-FUCK!" She shook her head a few times, just as the fire burnt away damaged tissue and bacteria before cauterizing the wound all on it's own. Despite the destructive qualities of Pyromancy, there were ways to make it work as a means to create rather than break, and Kael took quite the pride on that.

Granted, it didn't make Fiora's foot look any less scarred, but it did alleviate the pain, and with her eyes open once again, lids half-closed, she gave a glance back at her UI to notice her HP had gone up if only just a bit, yet the bleeding had completely stopped from doing tick damage, letting her head drop back down on Ronja's lap as she tried to catch some air.

"Kael of Redford..." Ronja nodded, with her eyes clicking twice as if registering it in her memories. "... Yes, Fiora and Ronja did defeat it... At least it felt like it." She said, looking at Fiora and frowning at the way things were being removed from her body. Those chunks of metal, things that would certainly cause an infection if nothing was done about it.

Before the boy could excuse himself from before, Fiora called them out, and Ronja paused to look at her eyes with a concerned expression before focusing on the treatment.

Ronja couldn't help but wince at the use of flames to close the wounds, but she supposed that was one of the many ways to solve that issue. After holding a breath, Ronja released it with a sigh while looking at Fiora, squeezing her hand back gently and smiling. "It hurts, but... How is it now?" She asked.

It brought sudden relief to know at least one problem was done for. Given the three of them were here, yeah, there is no better conclusion than that.

"Good as new! Hey the fire is over there if you two want to warm up a bit." Kael pointed his thumb behind him, where the bonfire still burns, vibrant and calm all the same.
"I pass, I don't want to move an inch like this." Fiora glanced back at the boy with half a smirk on her face. Yet she still didn't know if it's because of how comfortable Ronja is as a pillow, or if the soreness had her paralyzed and she just didn't want to have any of it right now.
"Uuhh alright! I'll... I'll be there if you need me!" He quickly excused himself and sat next to the fire, pulling out the dagger from his waist to inspect the details that ran across the blade, something done so hours and hours ago, yet somehow the feeling that he was interrupting the pair had him repeat the inspection, juust one more time.

With that settled, a squeeze on her hand had her attention back at the magia, looking up to meet eyes with her, watching her worry all over again for the fifth time. Perhaps she should get herself in danger more often, and it made her feel selfish to think so, but that smile simply had something special about it, just like their hands right now, where the phantom red thread had intertwined itself seamlessly with their fingers. "Yeah I'm back to my smug little self. Missed me?" Fiora playfully remarked, hoping to keep things light for the both of them as she gave a side glance to the magia's legs, as best as she could from this position really, which wasn't much to say the least. "We should work on these. I need my partner back on her feet again. I still got plenty to show you." She added, as a soothing smile spread over her lips.

Ronja stared at the boy as he spoke, leaning in a bit as he was going away with the strange dagger. "Try to not meddle with this thing too much, it has already caused trouble enough!" She warned, watching him going distant before letting out a sigh and looking down at the woman on her lap.

"Ronja thought that was the last time she would see you." Ronja admitted. "Even if you can respawn... This world is as scary as it is wonderful, near death here is so realistic." She muttered, tightening her fist for a moment, flickering her eyes that were back to normal at this point.

Fiora's words made a small smile cover Ronja's lips, that only frowned when her eyes peered down to her legs. "Ronja's legs are working now... but what is destroyed, is destroyed." She looked at a feet that was pretty much hanging by the ankle.

"... Maybe a blacksmith could solve this?" Ronja wondered, looking at Fiora, not having a hopeful expression on her face.

Kael quickened his steps at Ronja's scolding, a yelp escaping his lips "I-i'll be fine!" He simply called out before beginning to meddle with that thing too much, just like Ronja told her not to, but at least he tried to be careful about it.

"Ronja thought that was the last time she would see you."
"I thought so too. I was scared you would bite the dust with me. I'm sorry for putting you through this." She frowned, eyes averted from Ronja, returning a few seconds after. "At least now you know though, that all the rumours are there for a reason. This right here was a trial by fire for newcomers. But there are a lot of places you won't believe how dangerous they are despite how beautiful the landscapes might be." A smile formed just as she took quick notice of how that fist tightened, her thumb fidgeting across the surface of the hand she is holding right now. "If you gonna keep playing after this though, I'll show you everything." It gave her more of a reason to get stronger in a mostly PvE oriented game at least.

The truth was just that: her feet were a mess, and Ronja would need some serious help given what she could see from her position right now, the question left her pondering just how many options in general they had. "We can go back to Honeyhome with our friend Kael over here, the smith would like to know we got him out safe and sound at least, so maybe we can ask him after that? Can always wait for me to recover to heal them." She raised her eyebrow, doubtful about it but certainly not about to lose hope, just as much as she wasn't about to hype up Ronja for nothing. "Eitherway you are getting a free ride. I'm starting to think the world just wants me to carry you everywhere today." She giggled, giving a little tug to Ronja's hand to let it rest on her chest, right above her heart. "Hey, can you hear it?"

Badump... badump...

"Of course Ronja will continue playing. She has nothing to lose." She admitted, with her eyes flickering a she looked around. "Here she has adventure, a lot of things to do." Ronja beamed, then looking at Fiora. "And she has a friend as well!" Ronja perked her lips up in a more cheerful grin.

"So don't apologize for it. Show Ronja everything." She said, pausing and tilting her head at Fiora's words. "What? Are you saying Ronja is doing it on purpose?" Ronja pouted, giving a small, playful flick on Fiora's forehead.

"Ronja won't stand for this." She retorted, leaning away, and only returning her attention when her hand was dragged to Fiora's chest. At first, the beating felt so natural that Ronja forgot that they were in a game.

Her eyes clicked, looking at Fiora and smiling. "You are alive." She said, gently pulling their hands to her own chest as well.

Ka-chink... ka-chunk...

A bit more mechanical, however...

"We are alive."

Fiora rolled her eyes once Ronja grinned, and proved to be far tougher than she expected. Most people would have left the game just as soon as they found out of the rumours and proved how dangerous it is, but this little Magia wanted to keep on moving despite it all. "Hey now I expect you to make a shitton of friends with that attitude. I'm just the first. And the best obviously." She winked back at her.

"What? Are you saying Ronja is doing it on purpose?"

"Yes I- What? No?" She didn't even get time to explain herself, a pouty face threatened retaliation, and it sure did as her forehead got flicked for the SECOND time already. "Owh... Worth it." She pulled her tongue out at her friend for a second, just before their hands met at her bossom, and then back at Ronja's.

Ka-chink... ka-chunk...

The sound had her glance up to Ronja to check if she was fine, and that smile did ease her down before she focused once again on their hands, on the engineered sound of her heart that seemed so unlike anything she's ever heard. A precious noise that proved just what the magia said. They were alive, the both of them made it out alive...

"Not sure robots count." She teased, finally lifting herself back to a sitting position, turning around to be face to face with Ronja once again. "Don't flick me I'm just jokin'. Anyways, I think it's high time we get moving. This stone is super boring to me, and scout boy's gonna do something weird if he keeps toying with that thing... Soo, back to honeyhome?"

Ronja pouted when being told that robots didn't count. "Ronja isn't just a robot, she is a Magia. It is beyond just a 'robot'!" Ronja protested, raising a finger and letting out a sigh when it was revealed it was a joke.

With a brief nod, Ronja agreed. "Alright, but Ronja really can't go anywhere like this, so... She will ask for the carry after all." She wiggled her fingers, with both of her eyes clicking while looking intently at Fiora. "To Honeyhome we go, and maybe we can try to find a solution for Ronja's feet." There was a slight hint of bitterness in her voice, but there was no point in complaining now.

It was her fault she lost those legs, so she didn't have anyone else to blame, unlike in Real Life, where she could blame genetics, God, or whoever she wished.

"If that boy is toying with that dagger, Ronja will put him back where he was stuck!" She protested.
