The Lancer was swept away by the cleaver, having no more strength to hold it in place before disappearing dramatically, leaving only her black hooded robe like a true Jedi. She was strong and wise, and Obi-Wan would be proud of her.

Moonsong was dropped down into the backstage, which stinks and is hot as hell. Luckily, there are staffs that attend to her, fixing the makeup while fanning her with all their might. "Whoa, that's a lot of work here. Oh, thank you." She thanked the one who brought cookies and cold drinks while waving to her fellow actress. "Celestine! Your rendition of the Songstress was so inspiring! I'm glad I was able to see that."

A faerin came to praise them while mispronouncing her name. "It's... Moonsong." She corrected while getting her heavy eye shadow cleaned up. Looks like their part isn't over yet, as they still have the cheering-from-the-dead thingy. Moonsong raised her eyebrows at the cups with a string, looking at the faerin and @Celestine back and forth looking confused. "We have Harmonic Magic though."

The Heart of Titania

zRdVh2U.png

Thus the nightmare ends,
The last of her power spent,
Her Dissonant Cleavers rent,
And even her wrath expent.

On east and west, the Sun and Moon,
King and Queen, granting yet their boons.
Center stage, the Hero stands,
His form eclipses, though wielding only empty hands.

"Redemption you offer?
Out of whose coffers?
With guts and effort,
Whose cause do you stand for?

Hero, I'm tired.
You've exhausted my ire.
Is it not quagmire?
To be bereft of desires.

What I've done
Cannot be undone.
What I've seen
Cannot be unseen.

My winter grows long, my spring will not come along,
So let your life be for more.
And as for mine? Nevermore."
[TITANIA FALLS TO HER KNEES, GAZING UPWARDS]
A terrible rumble, the world itself stumbles,
Phantasms faltering, whilst space begins unrendering!
Crack and shatter, like glass, fragile matter,
To reveal the monster without, the gluttonous, all-consuming mouth!

Stars blink out and skys fall down,
And thus, the heroes, must make it out!

[BEGIN LOWERING THE CURTAINS]

Mm, think we could do a whole drinking game with the amount of 'guts and efforts' we hear!

Novel! For buff bow lady to be a dedicated support! May as well have made her the Justicar instead, no?

Yup, she trolling. 100%. Work conditions must be rough for actors, if the Redeemed's acting out like that.

I need a drink. And an aspirin. And...a job.

Cycle Resolution

  • The end is here!
  • @Celestine's Blessing: Once per Challenge, the Songstress can add a modifier equal to Hype/10, rounding up, to one of her support actions.
  • Titania's Blessing: Once per Challenge, the Dissonant Damsel releases an Encore, allowing her to summon a Dissonant Pillar on any square she chooses, outside of cycle and turn limitations.

  • Titania's Inner World is breaking, phantasms chipping away to reveal the monstrous being she is in reality! The rending of the illusory world causes untold amounts of destruction all around you!
  • Make a DC 70 Reflex Save, a DC 70 Fortitude Save, and a DC 70 Will Save as you navigate the chaos of this shattered realm. Every failed Save inflicts 50 damage on you! This damage accounts for your status in the previous cycle.
  • The Heavens themselves descends upon you! To escape this twisted realm, the party must cumulatively deal 800 damage to the Heavens and destroy it, lest you be crushed by its weight! Failure to do so will cause the remaining amount to be split and dealt equally to the remaining party members' HP. On success, you can Exit the stage as a bonus action.

  • The Audience's Hype has reached the 3k Threshold! The return of the dead is imminent!

Combat

309d865aea.png
  • Map navigation, from left to right, goes from 1 to 18. From top to bottom, goes from A to H. Note that once you go to G and H, you are off the stage amongst the audience.
  • Movement in this stage is triple its base (so you would be able to move six squares). Dynamicism passives that take this into account are reduced to one-third.
  • Melee attacks can strike from one square away. Support and Protect actions can affect from two squares away. Magic and Ranged attacks can strike from 4 squares away. With the Extension passive, one can affect any target from anywhere in the map.
  • Multiple characters cannot occupy the same space. If possible, try not to line up vertically either, or you'll be blocking the audience's view.
<< HYPE: 3546 >>
Hype counts upwards for damage dealt to Titania. Every 1000 damage dealt increases the value of the Universal Loot at the end, as well as offering up extra boons from the audience during combat.

<< Props and Bonus Actions >>
Stagecraft is an art in and of itself, and in this case, using such devices could grant plenty of opportunity for dramatic mobility that would otherwise not be possible! And of course, if you wanted to lean in on the art of theatrics as well to further excite the audience, that would be great too! Just to note, though: everything here costs a Bonus Action.
  • Flying Systems: Grab onto near-invisible handles or step onto glass-swingsets, and be swung up into the air by the capable stagehands, who will transport you to set destinations around the stage. Move yourself to one of the four corners of the stage (A1, A18, F1, F18).
  • Lift Systems: Tap the ground a specific way, and be dropped down beneath the stage dramatically, only to reappear elsewhere in a true display of switcheroo madness. +4 to Movement, and remove one status effect from yourself.

DRAMATIS PERSONA

The Starlight Troupe has provided catchphrases for you to use at opportune times, as well as offered up some cues for pre-established plotting to get some extra juice out of this melodramatic epic. Though you're not obligated to only read your own notes, sometimes, genuine surprise is more fun than one's acting alone.

"All you need is guts and effort!"

The Hero
is stalwart and big-voiced, as if always speaking with exclamation marks or All Caps. Once, they were Titania's childhood friend, who harbored unrequited feelings of love towards her. In the climax of the story, engage her in close combat and finish her off, then join her in death as the curtains collapse!

"A job is a job, and I need a drink."

The Lancer
has endured great loss over their illustrious life, and seeks a death that has meaning...yet can't shake off the fact that the Redeemed resembles the soulmate that they've lost once. In the middle portion of the story, close in on Titania and unleash a Twiced Critical Attack on her! If successful, make it epic! If unsuccessful, make it tragic!

"I never miss."

The Savage
is the coolest, hottest, buffest of them all, and has the swagger to match, but has a weakspot for the Lancer as well, having made an oath to fill the gaps in their heart after the battle ends. Make use of the Stage Props the best you can, to show off just how stylish the Savage is~!

"Ah, how fleeting, the dispassion of ennui!"

The Songstress
is the aristocrat who first supported the Hero's ambitions, and wishes for nothing more than to see them survive at the end, but after the terrible journey to reach the Heart of Titania, has begun to feel as if maybe they would be fine if only the Savage survived this. Make sure to speak using the biggest and most obscure words you can find!

"All will burn by my hand!"

The Redeemed
seethes with a manic rage that they can only barely suppress, and that rage is fed by a jealousy that they hold towards everyone else and their multi-pronged romantic interests. All they want is the Hero's attention though, the Hero who saved them once from the corrupting influences of their magic! In the climax of the story, unleash a Surged Reckless attack on any target of your choosing, as it all boils over!

As the world crumbles around her, the Savage ducks, dodges, and even stands her ground, posing with "cool" hand gestures throughout her exhibition of basic parkour. She ultimately called upon the Lift Systems to bring her closer to Titania, waving at the others beneath the stage for the short time she was under, to partake in her end. But then everything around them started to fade and dwindle, making the Savage narrow her eyes and draw her "ballista" once again:

"The Heavens have come undone,
And though the battle is won,
What point is there?
Without my Lancer?"

The Savage took a deep breath before closing her eyes as green light emanated from within her, wafting against the very fabric of the descending Heavens. The steady stream of Illusion Magic tried to counteract the effects of the realm's impending destruction, but even in her heart of hearts, the Savage knew it would not be enough. Still, she had to try. For the Lancer.

The Hero weathered the storm. Literally. With his tall, imposing, stalwart, and heroic figure, he was a human wall of stoic strength. He also miraculously managed to dodge and duck where needed. Unfortunately, his brain, his mind, was not as strong as his physical aspects, and he found himself wracked with a headache for the least part. Goddamn it! Maybe it's time for me to take a rest... Been playing for hours now.

"YOUR WORLD HAS NOW BEEN TORN ASUNDER,
BUT, MY FRIEND, ALLOW ME TO CORRECT A BLUNDER!
ALLOW ME TO STAVE OFF YOUR LONELINESS,
LET ME FOLLOW YOU TO THE END OF THIS DURESS!"

With an unnecessary roar, the Hero "punched" the ground and a thousand, clearly more, golden grains of sand rose from out of nowhere, floating toward the descending Heavens, as if pushing them back, even though it was a tall order. Their golden shade outlining the immediate borders of the sky looked pretty nice, though. At least until the Hero joined Titania on the ground, arms around her. As his last act, he turned toward the remaining members of their party, took a moment of silence to emphasize the gravity of the situation, and finally mouthed his goodbye to them:

"Hmm… do a back-from-the-grave thing?" Cel pondered the faerin’s words as she was treated to a royal-style pampering. Glorious, glorious water… so thirsty! "I was having the thoughts that you were doing more of a plan ahead than that…"

She shrugged. The whole thing had been awfully improv-heavy from the beginning, after all, and she didn’t need to be asked a second time to show off for an audience! Celestine glanced over at Moonsong and threw her a knowing look, following up with a nod.

"Do a stand over here where I can be seeing the stage. This should be fun~!"

On the stage, a field of stars lit up in the dark void that was opening up. In this field of stars, several flared bright and began to connect, forming a rough imagine of The Songstress and The Lancer, while a familiar line from earlier was sung again (with a slight change)…

"Behold our great macrocosm of effulgence,
Our muse shall eternally recommence~!
Starcalled Songstresses never sees demise,
As long, they live, in public's eyes~!"

Celestine glanced over to Moonsong, whispering, "Go ahead with a music start and I will do you a follow~"

"Uh, I agree." They basically have to plan for an encore in a minute. Well, she didn't have problems improvising things, but syncing their performances together on such short notice might be nigh impossible. Well, guess she'll just have to trust @Celestine.

"Time to do something different, then."

As Celestine used her power to visualize their projections, Moonsong used both Arcanamancy and Harmonic Magic to emulate multiple orchestral instruments to give off a heavenly afterlife vibe. What comes next was surprising; everyone would expect kind of an angelic voice to accompany it, but it was Moonsong doing melodic rhymes. Perhaps, this is what is called Epic Orchestral Rap?

"Pardon this ain't Lance Lance Revolution,
Last wish from the dead? Grand Evocation.
You thought your darkness is all-consuming?
Our friendship shines the brightest burning."

At this point, the audience should realize that the two are coming back for a while to boost their teammates' morale and power, anime-style. The problem is if this sounds cheap or not. Hope that it's not much of a big genre change for Celestine to follow up on.

"We took a job and we will honor it,
No stones will be left unturned,
Songstress and Lancer, ethereal
Your dark terror? Ephemeral."

The curtains were closing.

The show was ending? Now, only the Zero fighting Faketits should go play dead according to the script the girl was coerced into reading. That's not a very conclusive ending at all. The right ending would be everyone joining him.. bad writing.

Selfish writing too.

"Tick-tock times up.
I hope this play goes bankrupt.

.Gee whiz, close the damn curtains already..."

Wendel was supposed to dodge some falling pieces of the world or something. She barely payed attention to it just making a few quick motions of her own. She didn't bother leaving her spot. She decided to give them a small light show before turning to exit.

The Heart of Titania

zRdVh2U.png

The sky collapsed, covering the stage. Blanketing the dead, and those who chose to remain.
The Redeemed left scornful, disillusion eternal. The Savage strode down the halls, thirsting for alcohol.
And the Hero bore it all, the weight of the stars. The chains of the past. The memories, the marks.
A savior to one was all that he had hoped, and he stood there, his abandonment his to atone.
Lights shuttered. One by one. Stars gave their last spark. Singers gave their last heart. The monarchs witnessed, and then they too chose to depart.
Silence. Tragic. Darkness. Pathetic.

"Did you not fucking hear me?
Piss off. From my past be free."
A Pillar rose, dark and dissonant. An Atlas constructed, upholding a soul too considerate.
The Damsel knew, the Devil was her truth. Twas enough then, that her friend sought to sooth.
She found her salvation in his act. She cared not for after the fact.
So in this grave she stays, and past heavens she'll raise.
The sky collapsed, covering the stage. Blanketing the dead, and those who chose to remain.
But past the sky, standing above starry ruins, stands the Hero still,
bathed in the spotlight's glow.

[CURTAINS CLOSE. CURTAINS CALL.]

Applause fell like a summer storm upon the open-air theater that the grand play was held. Some high-browed folks may have disdained the barbaric attitudes of the audience, may have thought crude the violent progression of the story, but was violence not at the essence of all the stories of the Starcalled? For Immortals that treated combat as entertainment, such a play would fit them more than any tragedy, any comedy, any history. And so, the applause continued. And so, the actors bowed. Kamala and Moonsong were bequeathed with confessions of love and (unworn) panties. Celestine received more than a fair share of illusory displays. Chrys stood, with half the male audience wanting to punch him in the face and the other half nodding sagely at the solitude of heroism.

And Titania, of course, performed her last act with a curtsy and a smile, one to light up the dusk that had fallen upon the city. Petals fell like a summer's song, pulled by gentle breezes to all corners of the bustling city, drifting, drifting, drifting...

To the alleyways that Magi stalked.

And to the plaque that another sought.

...

"Mmm, that was fun! But to think that the real heroes of that fight have almost all been disposed of by now..."

"Ahh...what I'd do to watch such an epilogue~"
