"Agent Petrasso. To begin your investigation, you will look through the region of Providence."

Joseph had been playing this game for a good two weeks now. He hardly feared being caught off guard while playing the game, as he'd felled ambushes in his sleep. What's more, he had little need to worry about tracing-Standard signs of internet activity just didn't come from a headset playing Terrasphere as one normally should. The signals were anomalous, according to analysts.

And yet, his superiors had discovered that he had been logging activity on it all the same. He should have expected it, frankly. The spanish forces have eyes everywhere-it was why they were a central home for the VSRA's executive operations.
He was considered to be an operative of VSRA as well, however. Upon noting his presence in the game, he was congratulated on his infiltration rather than punished for playing the game that half of his superior officers existed to condemn.

"Now that you have established an identity in the game, you are to investigate further. There is a first assignment for you. We leave the discretion and judgement of how you operate to complete the matter in your capable hands."

Logging in, he remembered the mission he had been given.

"Come into contact with the entity known as 'Duuhm'. Find out if he can be worked with as an asset against Terrasphere."

THE GUY struck boot into dirt as he landed down in the game. It had been a good few days since his life-and-death struggle against the Matriarch's swarm. He'd come to this spot of Providence trailing around the Steep Mountiansides, choosing this location to meet up with @Brutus Dahlgren in advance. The man had said that he would bring along a friend for the matter named @Toko , if THE GUY's memory served him well enough.

He could see them there already, waiting for him. What more was to do than to act like a clown as usual?

"Oh, took you all long enough. I've been waiting all day for you. Aha..! Are you both ready? Our target today is a Great Crow of the mountians. This isn't going to be a walk in the park."

@Brutus Dahlgren @Toko and maybe @Corsair if she feels like it, I'd love to have ya

Brutus felt naked.

It'd been only a fistful of days since he'd thrown down with the Kurungar and risked just about everything, including his several of his own friends and allies . It had taken a great toll on all involved one way or another, claiming many lives and causing many a nightmare, but for Brutus it had claimed his canon, something he hadn't realized had been Iconic until he'd lost it. Without it's weight or heft about him, he couldn't be sure he'd be okay. There hadn't been enough time to replace it yet, and he sure as shit wasn't going to go with some...inferior canon to replace his darling, he was going to go big or go home.

So instead today he had something smaller, a shotgun to be precise, smaller than his standard fare but enough to hunt birds he'd figured. Alongside him were his teammate and partner and crime @Corsair who was equal parts interested in this Great Crow of the mountain as she was worried about the giant sans canon, and @Toko who was always itching for an adventure and more time to spend with good friends.

He'd gathered them for the sole duty of helping out "The Guy" who was honestly a pretty good friend, and as he greeted them the Giant would give him a small salute. "Yo! I brought the reinforcements like you asked, with a team like this just about anything and everything should fall before us."

She had vaguely heard the details of this mission, apparently a friend of Brutus known as THE GUY had proposed this little excursion through Providence—the goal being to find an apparently elusive Great Crow of the mountains or something like that. It was an area north of Falderen, home to the Divinus Peaks, although that was as far as Toko’s knowledge got regarding the place.

"So, what do you both think the Great Crow is?"

The Lepus’ gaze turned towards Corsair as she spoke, glad to see the Magia again. She rather liked the woman’s company—and her magitech constructs too—so it always felt like a nice treat when they could adventure and work together. Perhaps to some it would seem odd that the group was already heading to somewhat dangerous lands and wilderness, so soon after helping slay the Kurungaar Mother that had threatened to combine with demon blood, but if there was one thing all three of them shared was their love for adventure.

Up ahead another Traveler called out to the trio, the rabbit surmising this was Brutus’ friend—which was soon confirmed as the Felis greeted the guy in return. "Ohayoo, I’m Toko." Her own greeting was a simple waved hello and her name, letting the giant beastfolk do most of the talking instead.

Corsair wasn't worried about @Brutus Dahlgren.

If there was one thing the giant was good at, it was fighting, and she doubted that his lack of cannon would make much difference. In the past few weeks his skills had skyrocketed, and as long as he had a ranged weapon in his hand and the ability to call up fire then they would be golden. She tossed him Pan. "Here you are, try not to shoot him," she said.

"Hey @Toko ," she said, waving at the friendly little Lepus. "I've got Sam for you." The spirit frog was growing accustomed to her new host, and eagerly climbed out of Corsair's pocket at the sound of Toko's name. Corsair stretched out a hand and Sam sticky-walked across her skin and leapt over to Toko. "I think he's taken a liking to you."

"A Great Crow,"
Corsair corrected. "Which means it's one of many, is that correct?" She turned to @The Guy for confirmation. "Is this similar to that creature we fought before? The Duuhmeron?" The only other time she'd some to providence had been to fight off a creature which could easily have been called a Great Crown. If today's fair was much of the same she didn't have anything to worry about.

"Good call. You'd be right about that," THE GUY confirmed with a nod as he explained, "They get their feathers from these crows, from what I've heard from an expert. They're sewed into the body-not natural at all. Apparently it's damn important to these folk, which is why just about every one of them and their mother have these feathers.

You could probably guess this by what I'm saying, but this is related to them. I want to make contact and investigate. To do that, I thought the best gift would be the same proof of life that they make to live-So I'm hunting down a damn crow and dragging it over to 'em. Maybe I'll have some woven in my armor to let them know to settle down, comprende? If this can't get them to talk to me, I don't know what the fuck will."

The way he said it, it seemed that he was hell-bent on accomplishing the goal regardless of the means-merely that this seemed like the best option to him. Was he really going to drag a bird over to god-knows-where? Sure, bones of a bird were hollow, but how great in size was a great crow going to be?

THE GUY didn't seem to mind the thought of that, instead pointing the way forward. He began the march higher up into the mountian territories, as if he knew where to go in advance... which he did. Thanks to his orders, he'd been hunting down crow resting spots for about half of the last week. It was more fun than living in the real world, but it was still a damn chore-one he hoped that the others would appreciate.

"We're not too far. A half-hour's hike will get us to where we want to go." A short time for THE GUY, though perhaps not for others. He chose this distance, he explained, as the Great Crows have a wide range of threat so long as you reach a certain height or size to be appealing to their opportunistic nature.

"Got it." Brutus replied with a nod. "We're going to hike for half an hour, find a big fuck off crow and kill it the fuck dead." He would turn to the others to check in on them. Pan would skitter onto his shoulder and peer at him, his eight mechanical occulated lenses narrowing and enlarging as they scanned his face. He turned over jealously to look at the Frog sitting on Toko's shoulder. Traitor he would drone in the high pitched frequency only him and the bot squad could hear.

"Duhmeron?" He would raise an eyebrow. "Oh yeah, the creepy bird fucker!" He would exclaim, smacking a fist into an open palm. "Don't we still have a bunch of those feathers he shot at us running around somewhere Cor?" He would ask, his tail swishing excitedly. "Either way, we could always use some more! I'm sure we'll always need more, we could all get some sick uh...feather headdresses or something to talk to these creatures and commune to them with."

"Oh, so there’s multiple of these Great across then?"

Toko was unaware of what they were hunting today, the Lepus having never wandered too far from Astoria and Falderen since she began playing TerraSphere… well, except for that Isulus excursion that almost got her killed but we don’t talk about that. Her attention however was quickly enraptured when Corsair pulled Samsung into view, the rabbit almost vibrating in excitement as she watched his sticky hands carry the little magitech frog across Corsair’s arm before he stuck to the fighter’s chest with a leap.

"Really, you think so Corsair?!"

Corsair might as well told Toko she’d won the lottery, the Lepus cooing down at the little frog while patting his head. She really loved little Samsung very much… and was completely oblivious about the stink eye Brutus was currently giving the magitech creature.

"Duuhmeeron… Duuhmeron… ah, is that like a DuuhmChild?!" Her mind briefly remembered the weird encounter with a creature that seemingly fit the descriptions being given, though the Lepus had a hard time remembering what had happened to it. "Yugam and I saw one once, it seemed really interested in having a sheep to hold… or something like that?"

"Don't call me Cor," Corsair said flatly. "It makes me sound like the remains of an apple. And besides, I have dozens of cores."

She opened her inventory, scrolling through the drops and materials she had accumulated on their journey. "I have.." she paused, clicking the feathers and letting them materialize in her hands, "seventeen feathers. Enough for some testing and maybe some scent camouflage, but not really enough for a headdress unfortunately."

"Oh yes,"
she answered Toko. "Something about your spirit seems to gel well with the pond spirit. Maybe it just prefers your movement to the concussive blasts of Brutus. That's why I added some layers of sound baffling to Pan. He seems to love Brutus." The speed ball was almost entirely made of compacted cushioning, wrapped around a metallic core that contained the soul of the screech owl.

It was simple, effective, and made for high speed and impact. "I made a few adjustments to him too," Corsair said to Brutus. "If you whistle while throwing he'll extend his legs on impact, making him a ranged weapon. Also he can excrete flammable gel so you can throw him as a fireball."

Corsair knew @Brutus Dahlgren and @Toko well. They were easy to design around, but @The Guy? All she'd seen was he had a gun. "I don't suppose you can hear supersonic frequencies?" she asked, hopeful.

"If not, would you mind telling me what your specials skills and abilities are? I'm sure I can whip something up while we hike."

As if to give thought to Corsair's question, THE GUY put a hand to the spot of his helm where his ear would be. His head tilts left and right ever-so-slightly like a signal dish trying to pick up something secret.

"Aye, I could," He surprisingly responds, "Though you'd need to be a bit more specific on that. I've got my ears tuned to radio waves... just in case. Give me the word and I'll keep an ear out." He sounded quite confident in himself. What he didn't tell them, quite importantly, was that such a quality wasn't even something he was used to from Terrasphere-he was actually used to doing so on the battlefield.

It was, of course, obvious as to why he couldn't talk about that.

"But no, my good amigo, we're not hiking for half an hour. As you may have heard me explain, they care about... height. All we need do is go up!"

To truly bring the point home, an arm threw out a grappling hook up to the next rockface. The three watched as the man began to climb that rockface like a train going down a straight track.
They began to climb. Their goal: to go so high that a Great Crow would notice and go aggro.

"Up?" Brutus would raise an eyebrow, grinning like a moron. "I have figured up the fuck out Amigo." He would turn to Toko and wiggle said raised eyebrow in a saucy dance that most in attendance knew well by now. Cracking his neck and rolling his shoulders he would turn to Toko and Corsair, "Who needs a lift eh?" Toko would respond by scampering up the wall, using her Geomancy to create hand and footholds, like a rockwall, or someone that actual free climbers fucking despised.

Setting aside the ethics of modifying rockwalls in climbing zones, Corsair wouldn't get a chance to accept or decline his offer, as the giant would careful scoop her up and set her on his shoulders, much like how a father might carry his daughter so she could better see the animals at a zoo. Pan would skitter up onto her leg, shaking a bit with anticipation, sensing the build up of Pyromantic energy in the giant. "Hold on to your butt Corsair, this is gonna be fun!"

Brutus would take a few steps back from the rock wall, and then, taking a running head start he would leap into the air and-

FWOOOOM.

Jets of fire would burst out from his hands and feet as he would propel himself upwards like a rocket into space. This was a party trick he'd been practicing for quite some time, and while it was still rough, all he was missing was some proper foci and he might be able to make this a regular part of his routine. The two would propel upwards rocketing past the Hare and Guy with great speed, until he spotted the point in which they were ascending to, as he passed it, he would maneuver over it, cut the jets, and land with a THWUMP, in your stereotypical one knee and a fist to the ground super hero pose. He would gently set Corsair down, before pulling out his waterskin and DUMPING it over his now sweat soaked brow before chugging some of it as steam rose from his hot skin. Once he had risen to his feet, he would take a few lumbering steps and peer down to the rock cliff to Toko and Guy, raising an eyebrow.

"You guys need me to come down and get you?~"

There was a light chuckle as Corsair reprimanded Brutus, before the Lepus pretended to not be amused by the interaction as she cooed towards Sam instead. "He does?! Yattah~!" Toko seemed genuinely surprised to hear that the pond spirit seemed to take a liking to her, before an excited squeal left the hare as Sam climbed up to her shoulder.

"Mmm, that makes sense... okay Sam, hang on tight alright?"

THE GUY brought up a good point, not to mention all the time they would shave off their travels by going for the good ol' straightest route—which in this case was vertically up until some Great Crow finally got pissed from them encroaching upon their territory. She watched the armored man take out a grappling hook and firing, before he began the arduous ascent.

"Looks fun, how about a race~?"

Not far off she noticed Brutus pick Corsair up and place her upon his shoulders, not too dissimilar from the times the Felis had given Toko a ride too, before the giant took a few steps back. The hare couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in confusion, before watching as Brutus proceeded to take a running leap and pyromancy himself and Corsair higher than THE GUY or herself in record time.

"Aaah Brutuuus!!! Zurui yoh!!!"

She pouted in response, before the rabbit allowed some gravital magic to pool at the sole of her feet. It helped boost her jumping height as Toko took one solid leap upwards, hands quickly grasping onto the available rocky surface before the hare used her Geomancy to create a few crimps and handholds along the way as she continued to go up until the next available platform with enough space for the whole party to stand on.

"Iie, I can climb perfectly fine without party tricks."

She stuck her tongue out playfully at the Felis, scrambling up the remaining distance before Toko dusted her hands off on her armor, a glance given to make sure Sam was perfectly safe and sound as he clung to the collar of her leather vest.

The pair alighting easily on the freshly made ledge and Corsair stepped down from her flaming ride, white-knuckled and slightly scorched from the ride up. As was his style, Brutus was more about the firepower than the finesse, though to be perfectly fair that never worried her and firepower was usually much more important. A scalpel was rarely more helpful in a fight than a cannonball.

"Thank you Brutus. You've definitely put the 'fun' back in 'functionally terrifying'," she agreed, giving him a thin and bloodless smile. "Though I find myself unable to argue with the results." They were already hundreds of feet up, easily high enough to act as bait for their prey. Hmmm, was that how that worked?

Back safely against the wall she smiled at Toko. "You don't consider growing your own handholds or twisting gravity as party tricks?" she chided, letting herself relax a modicum.

Fresh ideas for climbing and flying creations pooled in her mind. She needed her own ride. Would Sam's schematics be scalable without losing their tensile strength and the grip in climbing pads? She tried to imagine @Toko and @Brutus Dahlgren's reactions at seeing a six-foot long, rock-climbing frog-bot. It was enough encouragement to make her store the idea away for later.

At the top of the cliff-side, THE GUY took a moment's time as the others situated themselves to gather his bearings. This had, in fact, been the spot of mountain he had intended to climb on, and he thanked God that he had not forgotten where to go. All of his belongings were still with him. All weapons were loaded, and, most importantly of all...

"...Good, I've still got it."

A whistle was in his hands. Joseph had gotten this from a prior contact that had met him in the game-for a group that hated Terrasphere as much as it did, the VSRA sure did have a lot of connections in the world to spend on...

Not that he would question it. His other hand beheld a little totem, the only sign of Duuhm that the operators were able to get a hand on in such a short time. It reminded him of more than a few urban legends he had heard about monsters in the sewers, finding such a comparison to be strangely endearing. It almost felt like God still watched over him even in this world, no mater what form he may still take.

The little idol was brought close to his face. Beneath his breath he mutters as a charm, "To you, Duuhm, I offer the glory of this hunt." Joseph had little idea as to whether Duuhm would really just listen to him like that, but it was better to try than to do nothing. He put the totem back into his pocket once more and used his now free hand to open his face-plate to the world.

The face of THE GUY squinted, the harsh sun of their altitude unfamiliar to him. It did not take long for the man to adjust, and that was all the time left which he gave his companions-as soon as he was ready, the whistle was brought to his lips and sounded, the noise just that of what a Great Crow's would sound like, were his employers to be trusted.

It would not be long before the sky would bring a response to bear.

The sky carried the high pitched mimicry of the whistle's call across the land. On and on it went, suffocated below by the peppered lines of snow below, and bouncing off of the surrounding jagged peaks, carried into the clear blue sky. Then, silence. Slowly, the screech was drowned out by the distance, to widely spread and weak to be heard anymore.

An answer came back moments later, far more powerful and ear piercing than that of the whistle's impression. A loud string of cawing coming from a valley to the rightside of the cliff face. Then came the low bass sound of something beating against the air, and fighting gravity. Another loud caw, as the specified target soared into the air with its wings and feathers spread into a full span.

Known for their association with bad omens and to be sign of death, a Great Crow would speak for itself as to why it was the primary hunt of the Duuhmeron, and why their feathers carried such prestige. Black from head to toe, with a longer beak, and pair of wings than their smaller, scavenger counterpart. Each flap fought the thin, elevated air, and won that fight by a large margin. It's feathers shook and shifted with the incredible speed that the wind moved against and lifted the monster through the air.

Above you, its neck craned to look down, head tilting left, then right, then left again. Taking a moment to then look around, and being unable to see another of its own kind, or the familiar form of the long armed Duuhmeron who warred with its kind. Still, your gazes and position told the Avian all it needed to know. You were hunters, and either it or you were not leaving this territory alive. Dark wings tilted back, taking the creature up into a nose-forward barrel roll, using the forces of nature to give it the momentum to come close to your position.

When close, it's head reared back, it's body turning up right such that it exposed its belly and pruned chest to you - As well as its razor sharp, white talons that formed a triangle with their three points on each foot. Those talons weren't the threat at the moment.

The easiest way to kill something when you're this high up, was to drop it to the ground and watch its body break apart, its small bones shatter like a crushed nut or stomped goat. The creature slowed itself down by arching its wings, using air resistance to stop perhaps ten or so feet above and infront of the cliff point. Once in position, it cawed one last time, before beginning a rhythmic, intense flapping of its large wings; the speed and force of such picking up with each successive beat, until the loose snow began to fly up in a circle around your party, and the frigid winds generated by its force pushed against your bodies, threatening the stability of your legs, as well as the testing the strength of your meat and bones.

Great Crow

❰ 28 / 1000 ❱
❰ 2000 / 2000 ❱

There is a saying among the Duuhmeron regarding these Birds of Prey.

"Dark Wings, Dark Tidings."

There is superstition and warning around showing fear, or speaking negativity in the presence of a Great Crow.
Cycle 1

Status: Normal - Vital Exposed (+10 Crit Chance on all hits against Great Crow) - Grounded
  • Talon Strike - A Deadly strike with it's twin sets of Talons that intend to rend targets. | Cannot Critically strike | 1d50+10 Damage to Two Targets | No Status change.

  • Territorial - These birds are used to regular incursions by 'civilized' races and others of their kind, and have developed a protective possession of their homes. They get angrier the longer you're on it. | Passive | This enemy gains SP equal to Non-Hinder Damage dealt. | This Enemy will roll a flat 1d100 and gain the result in SP at the start of its turn.

  • Piercing Beak - With a sharp break, and keen eyes, this creature can peck through even the most robust plate armor and deal damage directly, though a forward neck is not ideal. | Can Critically Strike | 1d75+10 Damage through Mitigation | Makes Great Crow Vulnerable

  • Wing Beat - Powerful wings sned the surrounding air into a whirlwind of biting air and chest rattling vibrations. Though, it does leave the creature open for direct attacks to vital areas. | Cannot Critically Strike | Deals 1d100+10 Damage | Exposes Vital on the Great Crow | Forces all to make a Fortitude or Reflex save with a DC of 50. Success will halve the damage taken, Failure will take full damage, as well as be knocked in Vulnerable for their next turn.

  • Carrion Maker - There aren't precise details on this kind of attack, as each of the Duuhmeron have a different tale on what it exactly it is. But one thing is consistent - all Great Crows can be pushed to a point of a frighteningly deadly AOE Attack. | ??? | ??? | Activates on 1000 SP to the Great Crow

Battlefield & Rules

Victory is achievable, but not without its price. This creature is larger than the ones the Duuhmeron regularly hunt, and by extension, far more dangerous. The snow cliffside only gives you so much room to act, and does little to help against an airborne target. Ingenuity, Creativity, and a dash of Teamwork will be required to defeat this enemy without death.

  • Victory Condition: Defeat Great Crow
  • Defeat Condition: Party is eliminated, or flees.
  • Retreat is available as an action at any time, and will use your Primary Action, meaning no other action can be used in the turn you retreat, other than your Energy Actions.
  • All Armor Skills are available.
  • If Cycle damage puts you at 0 at the time of you posting, you may activate Second Wind to negate some of the incoming damage.
The Rules and Mechanics of base Terrasphere have been modified to add new flavor to this fight, including new ways to live and die.

Characters now have access to Energy. In your status, underneath your HP, you'll put in your current and max Energy. This Energy can be expended by using your Masteries in Unique and Creative ways to alter your circumstances on the battlefield.
  • All Characters will start at Max Energy.
  • All Characters have a Max Energy of 150.
  • Using this Energy to access your Masteries is what is called a Energy Action. The more Energy Actions you do in a turn, the heavier the cost.
  • Energy Actions can be used to give yourself and others certain kinds of boosts, or to create stronger actions outright through teamwork, as well as alter the battlefield and your role in it.
  • Cost of Energy Actions and intended outcomes will be discussed in the Discord before a post is made.
  • Running out of Energy will mean that your character has exhausted their physical body and will collapse, forcing your next primary action to be a Recover roll, if you are not resuscitated otherwise. Protip: Do not run out of the energy if you are ever Airborne.
  • I very much rule of cool things, so I am sorry if things are inconsistent with this portion. I am not legally liable for any broken limbs or intense fun you're having.
  • All Characters will either be Grounded or Airborne. When the Great Crow is Airborne, Attacks can only be made while also Airborne unless you have access to Extension through your own action list.
  • Being Airborne incurs the Risk of falling down the cliffside and taking Fall damage.
  • When the Great Crow is Grounded, all attacks are valid, airborne or not.

To make things more fair, and interesting, some of the current mechanics around actions and stats have been altered for additional spice. This section may get more added to it as the thread goes on, and questions come up.
  • The Defense Passive Action has been changed to now providing 5 Mitigation (Incoming Damage Reduction) per a rank above E. It will no longer grant bonus health.
  • Your Armor Skill will now provide 5 Mitigation per a rank above E, while still providing Bonus Health.
  • Those with Protect may also use Intercept instead. Intercept will reroute half of the incoming damage onto a target onto the Interceptor. Does not work on Wing Beat.

  • Link your character sheet in your post. You lock in your actions as of your first post in this fight.
  • No Cycle timer, I will wait for everyone to respond before posting myself.
  • I am not the fastest poster in the world, please be patient with me.
  • HP for the Boss Counts UP. SP for the Boss Counts DOWN.
  • Thread Code: 880C1
  • Any further questions, comments or concerns, please contact me in the Discord group. Again, please be nice and patient if something is fucked up or seems unfair. I want this to be fun for all of us, so I'd rather you talk to me first.

Solemn death descended from the skyline, an avatar given form to disperse the illusion that THE GUY had created with an instrument of Duuhm. This was the hunt upon which that the Duuhmeron built their souls and sagas from-it showed. As if his prayer had been one made in false promise, only now before the black wings of the Crow did he feel a pounding in his heart. A surge in his veins. A roar in his ears that was not just the wind alone.

Joseph had prayed, and something had responded in approval. He did not know if it was really a boon from the one who he had requested the aid of, but the courage in his veins was undeniably different from the cold steel of resolve that he had readied himself with before.

THE GUY hadn't felt a rush quite like this for four years-and as if to surprise the God who had granted him this new life, he had been ready for it, crow and all.

A shot fired the moment in which the Crow cried, for this screech of the bird would now be a swan song that heralded demise. The aimed shot struck true right into the bird's wing-joint at the weakest link. The crow fell from the midnight grace which it had painted across the sky, slamming straight into the mountian below. And as it did, THE GUY walked against the buffeting wind with the strength of a heart resolved. A dagger was drawn and in his hand. He was going to carve away the life from this bird.

@Asch I am fine with this boss fight. In fact, it's basically what I asked for to begin with. Duuhm would not be pleased with anything less. This thread is not a DM challenge, it is just basically a very flashy mechanics test.

Foreward: I, Fred AKA Brutus, agreed to the escalation of this event in a private discord conversation. This did not come as a surprise to me in any way, and honestly is probably the more manageable of my four spice challenges lmao.

The clarion call of the massive bird sent a gust of wind towards the group as it beat its wings furiously. Such power could lift the beast into the sky, defying the mighty pull of the earth of all things back to its surface. Savage beats that could probably rip through stone and flesh alike with it's savage, brutal strength. It would rush against the Red Giant, sending his coattails fluttering behind him majestically and nothing more.

Brutus squinted, peering at the bird as is puffed up it's plumage like an oversized rooster.

"That all you got, really?"

He would raise an eyebrow. Guy had made it sound like this thing was going to be some kind of hard fight, and here he was enjoying the fact that the fucker had cooled him off. He would crack his neck and watch as Guy savaged it with a bullet. With his keen eyes he could tell he'd really fucked it up, hitting it right in the metaphorical bird nuts.

Well, you know what they say about birds and stones.

"Let me show you how the fuck you open a motherfucking showdown."

He would stomp his foot onto the platform and the whole thing would shake as spires of stone would surge from the earth beneath their feet. The end result would be four spires forming a "cage" of stone around the bird pinning it in slightly and limiting his movement options. He would sweep his other foot around, raise it up, and stomp again, this time creating barriers of stone around himself and his allies.
