Even before @Chrys could free her from her chains with a simple tug of the steel that appeared brittle in his massive hands, Aika was already looking around them for a way out. Chaos had erupted, and although she liked talking about chaos and delighting in capitalizing on it, the ravishing rogue actually did not enjoy being thrust into the middle of something she could not control as quickly as she'd like.

There were far too many variables in a civil war born out of conflicting religious beliefs. It was like the YouTube comment section of a video discussing a useless 'drama' between a misogynistic e-sports player and a misguided actress turned streamer. Aika didn't have time to waste on such drivel, and without that strong of a motivation to choose a side, at least not stronger than her will to get out of there with her clothes undamaged, flight overpowered her fight.

"The guy one! Sea Father! Or was the dad priest, the priest of the Deep Mother? I don't know anymore. All those words... Let's just get out of here! We can loot the place after they're done killing each other!"

Aika grabbed his arm, though she knew she would not be able to force him to go with her in the direction she had chosen using her strength alone. Chrys was obviously the stronger of the two, and Aika was built with speed and grace in mind, not brute strength. But it was an efficient method to let him know she had found a path for them. Whether he'd take her suggestion or not was up to him, but Aika was already dashing toward the docks when she caught sight of something more disgusting...

In the shallows of the lake, Aika noticed several fishermen crying out, calling for help, with several seemingly being pulled under. A few looked like they were fighting for their lives against things even the ravishing rogue could not see, things beneath the water's surface. It dawned on her, however, that as the water foamed red with blood, whatever was in there, she definitely did not want anywhere near her skin.

"Nope, nope, nope! Go back! Go back! There's something messed up in the water!"

She screamed at Chrys again, pushing against him, away from the lake and the drying fishermen, drowning in their own blood mixed with the waters of the lake. They were lost causes, and to be fair, they were not worth saving. At least not while Aika herself was in danger of getting her clothes dirtier than ever. Gods, what is this village?! Why are poor people like this?!

Chrystopheles and @Aika have done enough for their supposed allies. They were used as bait and provided a way for Poodeepie and his believers to launch a surprise attack on their enemies, which was a success, all things considered. They were promised rewards after all was said and done, but it dawned on Chrys that those rewards wouldn't be received if the givers were dead, though the ravishing rogue did offer a pretty good alternative.

"All right! We'll come back for everything after everyone dies!"

At least that's what the plan was. Something in the water, however, made Aika backtrack. Or was it more appropriate to refer to them as some things?

As Chrys took a moment to stare into the waters, he realized that whatever the things were, they did not look right. They were attacking the hapless fishermen in the water with barbed tails. What came next was consuming their victims, flesh and bones. It was a pretty gruesome sight, one that sent a frenzy of panic through their hostile hosts, enough to make them ignore the adventurers, their former sacrifices, and focus on their own survival. Chrys grabbed Aika and pulled her off the water before one of the creatures could bite her, kicking it back into the lake with a swift strike from his leg. He also grabbed the other guy from before but tossed him less gracefully far from where the creatures could reach them.

Meanwhile, behind them, he heard the enemy archpriestess scream in a language he did not understand. When Chrys turned to take a look out of curiosity, Poodeepie was already striking her down, a final, fatal blow that dropped his own daughter before the profane altar.

"Oh, wait! I think our side won."

Or did they? Dun-dun-dun!

Or did they? indeed! For it seemed that although Poodeepie's daughter was struck down by her own father, her ritual still achieved a terrible success! Aika couldn't believe what came next, so much so that she had to grab @Chrys by his collar, as tightly as she could, to make sure she wasn't dreaming or that she wasn't hallucinating on her own.

"What in the ever-loving fuck is that?! What the hell is that, Chrys?!"

Another sound rose above the burbling cries of the dying fishermen in the waters, with its dark surface farther out bubbled and began to foam. A thick, oily tentacle then burst forth, followed by another. After which, two monstrous heads broke the surface, both resembling hideous, angry baboons with wickedly curved tusks, both heads attached to a single torso, and the monster's purple eyes glowed with bloodlust and madness. Aika stared in horror, surmising the creature rising from the lake must stand thirty or more feet tall. With water cascading down its back and shoulders, the massive creature threw back both its heads and roared!

Fortunately for the ravishing rogue, she was able to keep her wits about her. Unlike the unfortunate small-brained fishermen who seemed to have lost their minds, just standing there, gawking at the creature, and crying out gibberish over and over again. Perhaps, if Aika spent a moment or two she'd understand what they were saying but...

"Fuck this! Let's get the fuck out of here and never come back! I'm not going to stay in this motherfucking hellhole with these motherfucking idiots and that massive motherfucking monster and lose my motherfucking mind!"

Aika screamed her intention to forever leave this gods-forsaken place, not wanting to spend a second further in this wet hellscape. Why would she? This village, this town, whatever it was, seemed destined to be crushed, maybe even consumed, by whatever the fuck the fat priestess had summoned. Aika didn't even care if it was a cool event with massive loot. She wasn't going to play with such a hideous boss monster.

"Chrys, let's go! Chrys?"

But what about her companion? What about Chrys? Did he manage to keep his wits about him as well? Or, like the dumb fishermen of this town, did he fall prey to the madness summoned by their sheer stupidity?

Chrystopheles had no idea what the ever-loving fuck that massive monstrosity was. It definitely wasn't the Leviathan, the huge-ass god-like creature that he and Team A.C.K. had fought a while back. It wasn't the Urungaar Mother, or whatever that fuckery was called. It wasn't even the giant war machines that Szofrit brought to that party. Whatever this thing was, Chrys himself had never encountered anything like it before.

As @Aika panicked beside him, Chrys just stood there, staring at the...thing. Fishermen were screaming around them, some were turning the nearby waters red, but Chrys? Chrys was grinning from ear to ear, his eyes wide in delight at the sight of the massive monstrosity, its two heads were definitely something to behold!

"It's...so...magnificent!"

Uh-oh! It seemed that Chrys had fallen prey to a madness that would no doubt only persist for a couple of minutes, maybe even just nine at most. Regardless of mechanics, the massive mountain man, who wasn't as massive as the attacking monstrosity, celebrated the creature's rise, clapping in glee!

"All hail...whatever its name is! All hail its majesty, its magnanimity, its magnificence! All hail its all-consuming presence!"

Even as the massive monstrosity waded toward Slopdollop, twin heads roaring and gibbering, all sixteen tentacles flailing and smashing the water. It would take its time before it could come within reach of the shoreline, before it inevitably lashes out, smashing the docks and sending bodies flying out of the water or off of the ground with a simple sweep of its tentacles, so the pair of adventurers had enough time to flee. If only Chrys could recover his wits enough. Some of the fishermen were way ahead of him while others, paralyzed with fear, could only cower in place.

Great. Just great. That's the last thing she needed right now: Her companion going mad at the sight of the massive monstrosity. What else could go wrong? Aika would've loved to dwell on those rather bitter and obviously negative thoughts, but time was not on their side at the moment.

"CHRYS?! GODS DAMNED IT! WHY ARE YOU SUCH A DODO HEAD!"

Aika screamed at the massive mountain man before grabbing him and pulling her with her as she tried to find a way to get the heck out of there. It was still pure chaos, as the massive monstrosity swatted at everyone and everything. Well, mostly everything. It didn't seem like it cared about the tinier things running away from it than it did smashing most of the village. Guess it woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

"There! A boat! Come on, you big stupid hunk of a rock-hard dumb-dumb!"

Ignoring the screaming NPCs, some of which were even pleading for help, including that random guy from before that was part of the sacrificial lambs, the ravishing rogue pulled Chrys onto a boat and pushed it into the waters, in the direction away from the attacking behemoth. Was it stealing if the owner was most likely getting squished by a massive monstrosity? It wasn't like better people were going to use it anyway. Most of the fishermen were assholes willing to sacrifice others to awaken whatever this thing was. Well, they got their wish all right, but wishes often do come with a disastrous price. In this case: their lives and their loved ones.

Paddling the boat along the shore, Aika had to deal with the predatory creatures in the water, much smaller than the behemoth they were trying to escape obviously but just as ferocious and dangerous. Fortunately for them, the dumb fishermen were distracting most of them with their, well, bodies, as they seemed too stupid to just get out of the waters, instead becoming free chow for the slaughtering predators.

Ugh, what idiots. Speaking of idiots, while the ravishing rogue was wasting a moment mocking the smallfolk, a wave suddenly tried to throw the pair of adventurers overboard! Most likely from the swing of the behemoth's tentacles. Fortunately for her, she was able to keep herself on the boat with her spectacular reflexes! Aika was most definitely not visiting this place again. 0/5 stars!

Despite the madness that had overtaken him, Chrystopheles did not offer any resistance toward @Aika's manhandling of him. Womanhandling? Whatever works.

Oblivious to all the screaming and the danger, the massive mountain man simply kept gawking at the massive monstrosity from the horizon, all while allowing the ravishing rogue to steer him to places, including some random ass boat.

Chrys even unintentionally bumped into other folks, the rest of the fishermen, causing them to fall down on their butts because he was a walking wall. Fuck them NPCs, I guess.

"GODS BE DAMNED INDEED! ALL HAIL THE MAJESTIC, MAGNIFICENT, MAGNANIMOUS WHATEVER IT IS! HAAAAAIIIIILLLLL!!!"

Even the random wave of water could not deter Chrys from his worship!

Chrys just stood there as the wave threw itself at him, undeterred, unfazed, immovable. He was like those mermaid carvings on the bows of ships: indifferent to the crashing waves and their destructive need to wash away whatever comes across them.

Chrys can never be washed away! He is the earth itself! HOHOHO!

Docks, Slopdollop → FREEDOM!

Aika heaved a sigh of relief before pulling @Chrys down, forcing him to sit on the boat, not stand around like a complete moron. They had escaped with their lives, both of them, even though Aika should've just left Chrys back there if he so wanted to stay and admire the massive monstrosity that would inevitably destroy the village of Slopdollop.

A part of Aika felt sorry for the innocent fishermen that would have their lives ruined, if not lost. Most of them were zealots, sure, but there were most likely a few innocent souls in there. There always seemed to be. Heaving another sigh, she shook her head as she made Chrys paddle them out of there, even though she was already using her Hydromancy to push their boat away from the village, as far away as possible. Sitting with her legs crossed and her arms the same way over her chest, she reflected on what this could all mean for their future.

"Looks like the situation has changed again."

That's when a terrible realization finally dawned on Aika, and presumably Chrys: Whatever this monster is, it's now loose in the area! There was no one else to blame but the priests and priestesses of the Deep Mother, the Sea Father, the Salt Uncle, the Ocean Aunt, or whatever they liked to call it and themselves. Most often, these names were not even accurate, only what the limited mortal mind could handle, could come up with.

There was much to be learned, and perhaps, if need be, the need to escape all of this should be urgent. I do need some time away from playing these games. Oh, well.
