~WELCOME TO THE DARK PARLOR~
~Somehow or another you have found and followed a flier to just the right door~

What drives you?
Curiosity?
Fortune?
Or could it be that you simply crave...

...The thrill of the Dark?

I0UHj3B.jpg

The sun was setting, and it was soon to be dark. Crystalline clinks wafted the air to the tune of smooth and easy jazz. The chime came from the lone occupant of the parlor as she polished the already clean martini glasses to ease her frayed nerves. This person, of course, was Glamdark, the owner of the establishment, at least, if she could make the lease...

Ahahaha... they're coming... they're surely coming... I'm sure everyone's seen the fliers by now and just wants to arrive fashionably late! This is THE Dark Parlor, after all, the height of fancy living energy, where the clever and the beautiful come to play... uuuuu~ (She began to sniffle quietly as she cleaned the already clean and empty glasses)

Eventually, however, her hopes of not being in a startling amount of debt abated, if for only the night, as the patrons began to make their entrance. She said roughly the follow speel to everyone.

You came! Thank the maker! I mean... *eherm* Welcome... to The Dark Parlor~ The game will be starting once all the players arrive~ (and they are surely coming, right? right?) ~ for now, what will you be having? It's on... the house... *wink wink* Get it? Because we're going to be gambling... hah... ha...

She said as she gestured behind her to well-stocked bar. For the less "spirit-tually" inclined, one could see juice and milk. Glamdark, herself, made herself an appletini to demonstrate her passable skill and gestured to alllllll the open seats at the bar.

The Players:

@Imoogi

"The Dark Parlor" Hanno muttered, sliding through the door he pushed open, taking a few steps into the building, looking around with curiosity and a warm feeling in his chest at the gentle jazz. It was going to be a nice night- Probably-

There was nothing wrong with gambling a bit, right? Hanno wasn't the type of getting addicted, so he would know when to stop. Hopefully.

Before he could take a seat, the sudden appearance of the woman (@Glamdark), along with many other faces (including some known ones @Imoogi, @Fiora Di Angelo, @Yugam), made him pause and listen attentively to everything. The mention of free drink made his mana wings flutter as he perked up. "Oh, nice!" He clasped his hands.

"I think a Ranch Rosé would go great, if that would be okay, buddy!" Hanno smirked at the salmon-haired woman, peeking at the other faces and getting ready to follow the flow.

Zelrius pushed the door open with his hip, letting it swing open, his hands preoccupied in the mass of red hair, trying to get it into a high pony tail and successfully tied up. The struggling having not stopped there as he walked forward slowly, face contorting with each knot he found, or every time a loose bundle fell to the side. "God damn it." He hissed quietly to himself, deciding that if they offered any sort of haircutting service here, he was getting it on the spot. Never before had he played a game where he needed to fucking shave, or cut his hair.

He let it fall, giving up and storing the hairtie he had bought from a store in stokbon back in his inventory. A waste of gold. His gaze rising just enough to meet with that of @Hanno Futaba and give a small wave. It seemed he wasn't the only one to have tracked the flyer there. Something he was worried about. Of course, it'd make sense there'd be other event-junkies playing who'd follow every loose thread wherever it lead them.

The Pyromancer neglected to make the comment that her joke didn't work, because that's actually where that phrase came from. The house's edge and something be covered by - or 'on the house' - had the same origin. Still, she seemed nice enough. "Just some apple juice and another cup for water, please." The walk here was pretty long, and his throat was dry. Not to mention an aversion to drinking liquor in general.

In a world where she's just as broke, Fiora decided to pay The Dark Parlor a visit. Not only because the place sounds super dubious with a name like that, as if it suddently would become a night club, but because she just wanted the opportunity to play games and fuck around without having to worry too much about real life currency.

What better way than sharing the weird flyer with @Yugam and @Luthien, then proceed to call the former a coward in the most unsavory way possible if he didn't tag along. Of course, Luth got the better deal from the two, like switching from talking to black haired trash to elven princess.

Fiora made haste to push open the doors and leave them open for both friends to go in. "Ladies first." She gestured inside with a tilt of her head and a smile befit of a gentle(wo)man's charm. Yes, that included Yugam.

The place was unbelievably cozy. The jazz? Not much her jam, but she could deal with it given the nice vibes and the lack of a crowd beyond a familiar faerin face (@Hanno Futaba). Would he even recognize her now with how radical of a change her looks had? Regardless of what would happen, Fiora spared the cringeworthy expression she had for their hostess's pun and instead focused entirely on the free drinks part, heading over to the counter with quite some haste on her steps. "Feeling generous before taking all our coins away? Alright then, I'll bite. Get me a Cuba Libre." She sat down on one of the stools, right elbow against the counter as she turned to look back at Yugam and Luth, addressing them at once. "Free drinks, gotta love this place already." She shrugged off "Told ya' it was a good idea."

One person didn't quite match the rest though... A redhead- No, it's not that he didn't match, it was that @Zelrius had a very familiar look on his face, something that she couldn't quite pinpoint, but for some reason it made her wary of him, almost protective of the prestine counter they were using as a table, and sent shivers down her spine to think about him ever getting close to it, for some reason.

They say, fortune favors the bold, so it must be true then, or perhaps Chrys has just seen bolder days. Although initially, he found himself atop the economic food chain, recent events have turned his fate on its heels, rendering his golden days on the brink of bankruptcy. Perhaps it just wasn't a good idea to procure a quiet tavern...and attach a funeral parlor to it. Perhaps he just needed better bankrollers. Or perhaps he needed to buy her out.

The Dark Parlor, hm? Wasn't that ominous? In a world of uncertainties, Chrys was at least sure he had a chance to make some money here. Or lose more than what he had. Either way, a chance was better than nothing at all. He heaved a sigh as he eyed the strange bartender and decided on a relatively classic drink to soothe his ailing nerves.

"I'll have an Old Fashioned. Bourbon, not whiskey."

He then simply watched the rest of the Players with a bored expression on his face, taking one of the seats at the bar. These were his competitors, weren't they? And it was a gambling game, wasn't it? No one who enjoys these kinds of games is ever trustworthy. Best keep my distance. His mind then began to wander to the last gambler he represented, a girl with jet black hair and addiction that betrayed her otherwise comely beauty.

Outside Valmont strode up to the facade, one hand in his pocket and the other holding one of the many fliers scattered about. "Looks like it's the place." He said, folding the flyer and sliding it into the breast pocket of his coat. He paused then and took a moment to check his reflection in the window, still getting used to the new face. A quick adjustment to a folded lapel, and he pushed his way in through the entrance.

Inside he found the other patrons, and presumably the hostess flittering about. Nobody he knew. Making his way up to the counter he eyed them, studying but trying to not be rude. If he met eyes with any of them, he'd give a perfunctory nod; The universal greeting. Otherwise he bellied up to the bar, opting to stand rather than sit. When asked his drink of choice he responded, barely audible over the jazz, "Scotch on the rocks, if you please."

Turning to lean on his hip he held the glass in his left. In his right he absently flipped a simmering blue coin across his knuckles, letting the translucent surface catch the light and refract prettily off of interior facets as it turned over and over. His yellow irises glowed with the tell-tale internal light of one using Investigation; Constantly flickering from objects to people in a casual examination of the Parlor.

When @Fiora Di Angelo had excitedly showed up with an odd flier in her hands Lúthien hadn’t been sure what to make of it at first. However the rōnin had quickly managed to convince the elf about how cool of an experience this could be—and gave @Yugam a challenge he just couldn’t refuse. Then the taller woman had suggested they dress up in a kimono, and the little weeb heart inside Lúthien was instantly sold on the idea… and Lúthien knew the perfect store in Finweald for the girls to shop together.

~ ~

"Thanks, Fio~"

As the brunette moved to open the door for them, always the gentlewoman, the blonde couldn’t help but giggle softly in return as she gave a small bow to the rōnin before skipping into the parlor. Two figures inside caught her attention then, the lesser known @Hanno Futaba and the very familiar redheaded @Zelrius already inside the establishment. A friendly wave was offered to the faerin as the elf followed Fiora towards the counter, bumping her shoulder softly with Yugam’s as they walked, before she took the seat beside Fiora.

"Uhmmm, I’ll have a Japanese highball, please."

Her attention turned then towards Zelrius, the elf quietly whispering in the man's direction "Pssst! Hey, Zelrius! Hiii~" to catch his attention, before shooting him a friendly grin and a wave—entirely unaware of the off looks Fiora had been giving the man for some unknown reason.

When @Fiora Di Angelo had first shown himself and @Luthien the
poster boasting drinks and gambling, the man had been intrigued. He wasn't really one who liked throwing away money, as was liable to happen in games of chance, but he did love the game itself. Well, he didn't exactly need a lot of gold at the moment, and it wasn't like it was real money anyways. Suffice to say the man was on the verge of excitedly agreeing to go along to this 'Dark Parlor'.

And then Fiora had to open her goddamn mouth again.

Issued a challenge that he just couldn't refuse the man's objective shifted from just having fun to having fun whilst taking every gold piece that Fiora had. What could the man say, he was competitive.

Arriving alongside the two woman, the man nodded and thanked Fiora as she held open the door for them. Looked like the gorilla wasn't entirely uncivilized.

The man felt Luthien briefly bump shoulders with him as they walked towards the bar, as bidden by their host. The man glanced over at the elf with a smile, still not used to her being just slightly taller than him. Usually they were about eye-level with each other after all. Eh, whatever. At least sitting down next to her wasn't as strange. "Bee's Knees for me, please. Sub out the gin for whiskey if ya can."

Looking around, the man spotted a familiar face, and plenty of new ones. @Hanno Futaba he recognized from Lake Horatio weeks ago, though the faerin girl he'd been with at the time wasn't present. Must've just been a friend. Yu nodded in the fae's direction when they made eye contact.

"It should be around... here?"

The orange-haired beastkin would stop close to the entrance of the Dark Parlour, flyer in hand as she looked around and eventually stumbled upon the place. Harper wasn't one to gamble in the real world, mainly due to a lack of interest and spare money to just burn away. Yet ever since she started trying her hand at hunting her own rations at Mizuki's recommendation, the tigress couldn't help but see her gold reserves get much fuller than she'd like. Didn't help that her fighting style also let her pass on having to repair a weapon.

In such a case, the allure of a game of chance was very appealing to Harper. Lose, and all that money she didn't need was out of sight, out of mind. However, if she won, she couldn't deny that all the extra money could go into something nice. Maybe a small plot to build a cabin for your everyday chilling purposes, or buying some of those expensive, top-shelf potions that supposedly did all sorts of fancy stuff. Either way, she was going to watch the break of dawn with a lighter purse.

Pushing the doors open, the tigress's eyes would widen a bit in surprise. From the quality of the flyer, she honestly expected something way shadier. The music and ambiance were nice, and there seemed to be quite an assortment of drinks to pick from. But Harper wasn't interested in alcohol tonight. Luck-based as this was, it was still a competition at the end of the day, and she was looking to win. Going drunk would do anything but help with that.

Eyeing the others in the room, she initially thought she'd be playing with a bunch of strangers until her golden eyes stumbled upon @Luthien . She hadn't seen the dark elf ever since the fishing event and wasn't even sure that she would remember her, but a familiar face was always welcome to see.
"Yo! Luthien, was it? Fancy meeting you here." As she walked closer, she'd drag a chair and sit on a spot near Luthien. While she had arrived too late to sit by her side, she still managed to stay close enough.

Lifting a hand, she'd turn towards the host of the bar with a smile, before pointing at her with her clawed hand. "Get me a warm glass of honeyed milk, please."

♠ ♥ ♦ ♣ ALWAYS BET ON DARK : DEALER'S RUNNING COMMENTARY ♠ ♥ ♦ ♣

Current Mood: (ಥ﹏ಥ) "These guys seem like super high rollers, I'm gonna win, right? Right...?"

*Tink tink tink*

Glamdark lightly tapped her glass to gain everyone's attention with a relieved smile, which quickly became an overly forced ‘cool’ grin.

"Excellent, all the players are assembled. Ladies and Gentlemen, let us make our way to the game table and I shall explain the rules of our wager."

It looked like a nice card table you might find in a casino, only a little more high fantasy. It was a card table glowing with purple runes. On closer inspection, you could see it was working like a hologram board, even worse, you might have realized that it was a total rip-off of a certain children's card game anime: Yugi oh.

"Sit where you please, everyone, this is after all a game of luck and superstition, you want to be comfortable. Yes, this is a game we shall call Black Mag'jack. A very cool name. And if you've ever played Craps, Blackjack, or Roulette, you'll feel right at home. If not, the rules are really quite simple."

Glamdark nodded, getting a little serious. There was a glow as a user interface came into view.

"All of you are seasoned warriors so I'll use battle as a means of analogy:

Before me you should see my HP, that is your prize. Damaging me will grant you points to raise your score.

You will be rolling dice to defeat me. There are countless types available, you need only reach out your hand and imagine: Reckless dice? Critical? Sneaky? Empowering Buffs? Saving Heals? All are tools to pave your way.

But I am merely your prize, yes. The seasoned warriors around you at this table are your opponents, and they will be racing you to gain their fair share of my HP before I am defeated.

IF, I am defeated, I should say. The karmic roulette wheel to my right will be my means to defend myself, which you will understand shortly on the next round. For now, simply note you have HP as well, which you should see before you. When it hits zero, you will forfeit the game. So take care.

In summary:

-Your masteries work at this table, and they are represented by dice.

-Use them to claim as much of my hp as possible to gain points.

-End the game with more points than your rivals, or be the last player standing if the others run out of HP, and you win.

-In this battle you will only be attacking me, so be at ease.

-Whose strategy will prevail? I'm excited to see.

***

To begin we will practice summoning the most basic die: the 1d100 and introduce ourselves.
Conjure the die with your mind and cast it to determine your starting score.

This is the opening act of our game. A pleasure to meet everyone, I will be your hostess and dealer for the evening, The Sorceress Glamdark, let us all be fine friends and finer rivals. Salut~"

Glamdark raised her glass.

To do:

1) Roll a 1d100 and subtract from dealer hp to determine your starting score.

2) Introduce yourself to the table.

3)This game has no turn order, one post per round.

Notes:

*all actions and abilities unlock after this round.

*retal roulette activates after this round with values from player rolls. Explanation to follow.

Zelrius swished his drink around. Twirling his cup idly, staring down into it with low eyes. His name being whisper-hissed made him jump a little and look over, spotting @Luthien and raising his cup to her. Something was different. Among the white streaks of air moving in her core and head, as well as the sharpness of her eyes. That was really the only face he recognized here, including @Yugam , who he didn't even really know the name of. Only able to see the way his blood pulsed through every vein, their crimson-colored network overlaid on his clothing.

Then it was time to follow the others over, listening to @Glamdark 's long winded introduction and frowning. There was a moment of silence, before he just looked into table. Staring intently, trying not to focus on the spinning ball in the nearby roulette table. In front of him, in the air, black smoke seemed to have no central point, wafting up and disappating only an inch or two above its origin. And then, a small spark, as if cut from a flint-stone chirped, and a red and white, 100-sided die plopped onto the ground, revealing a 26 on its upper side. The frown turned worse - he wasn't meant to be here.

Blue eyes looked up and scanned the room. Some didn't look that intimidating, @Valmont and @Chrys looked nice enough. @Harper and @Hanno Futaba were full in on this fantasy aesthetic. They probably knew what they were doing far more than him. It was his turn to speak, he finally realized. "I am Zelrius. I don't have anything better to do, so... here I am. My roll there reflects my general lot in life. Hopefully both will improve!" He gave a facetious wide, toothy grin, sticking both of his gloved thumbs up, and then quickly dropping it and clearing his throat awkwardly. Hoping someone else would talk and they'd forget about him.

Heading off many of the others Vamont made his way up to the table. Based on the interactions he'd seen, he knew he was an unknown variable here. Or, at least, one of them. With long strides he took station on the end, the dealers right hand, and perched his glass on the side of the table in its customary spot. Taking a moment he fingered one of the runes, admiring its design though having no idea what it meant. "Neat." Summed up his collective thought on its design, seemingly suitably satisfied with the table.

Looking over to @Zelrius he watched the man produce his die. He nodded a few times at the mans introduction before holding his own hand out over the table. The crystalline, hexagonal coin sat in his palm. He closed his hand, turned it over, and dropped it. Rather than one coin, he dropped a pair of pentagonal trapezohedron, more commonly known as D10's. Their surfaces glittering in the same faceted fractures that the coin had, they fell to clatter onto the table. A 10 and a 1, for a rousing 11. He winced.

Finally, he decided to introduce himself, his voice clipped and stiff. "I'm new here, both to the Parlor, and the world at large. Guess I'll be going by Valmont these days. A pleasure to meet you all, hopefully the night goes better than these dice, eh?" He gave a hollow laugh, indicating the three results with a gesture.

Chrys heaved a sigh as he dragged himself from his very nice seat at the bar to follow and join the others at the game table, listening intently to the girl with the rules and mechanics. He was at awe at the aesthetics of the place, but he tried his best not to show it, considering it could be a weakness that some may exploit. He's heard a lot about veterans and experienced players toying with newbies and tourists alike. He wasn't quite sure where he fell on that spectrum. Yet.

Taking a quick sip of his drink, he observed the others for their respective reactions. Chrys was not an experienced gambler, but if the rest were worse at this than him, then maybe, just maybe, he could eke out a win. His finances knew he needed that win. Following the directive given to them, Chrys simply closed his eyes, manifested in his mind a dice made of rock, and cast it. He grinned at the result. Nice.

"Chrys. Just Chrys."

He stole a glimpse of @Zelrius as he made his lackluster introduction, noting that despite looking formidable, he seemed to only have a pretty...standard start. Could be just waiting for the perfect moment to surprise us with his skills, a trick or two up his sleeves. When their eyes would meet, if they would even meet, Chrys intended to offer him a quick nod and maybe even briefly raise his glass to him. Just in case he needed to get in his good graces. He tried to do the same to the man named @Valmont, who had a worst start so far, but the night is young, and in this game, it's always about the opportunity, never the introduction.

Her drink was delivered, and the blonde couldn’t help the small hum of delight shortly after she took the first sip. @Fiora Di Angelo’s own choice of drink had surprised Lúthien, the elf quite familiar with Cuba Libres—often a go to when she was feeling indecisive, along with mojitos. The ranger couldn’t say the same about @Yugam’s drink, vaguely familiar with the concept though she couldn’t remember ever trying one.

It was then she noticed @Zelrius raised his cup in her direction, the elf mimicking the motion with her own glass, before a voice called over to her from a distance. The faint familiarity caused the archer to turn and look, the original confusion on her face soon replaced by a wide smile as recognition flooded her senses.

"@Harper, is that you? It’s been a while!"

However the time for fraternizing soon came to an end as their hostess tinkled her own glass to gather their attention. Soon she was calling them over towards the assigned game table, the pinkette taking her place as she began explaining the rules for a game called <Black Mag’jack> to the assembled group. Lúthien had no personal experience with gambling games, aside from seeing them portrayed in shows and movies the blonde had never actively participated in any of the mentioned games before—part of the reason she’d been so excited about this little get-together had been the thought of being able to experience such a moment for the first time.

She couldn’t help the soft gasp of surprise, her lips forming a little ‘o’ shape, as the glow of a user interface suddenly came into view for them all. A soft nod was given by the elf as Glamdark finished her explanation, feeling confident enough that she’d managed to grasp the rules well enough… or so she hoped.

Lúthien’s own glass was raised in response to their hostess, before her attention turned to Zelrius as he was the first to introduce himself. Shortly after another man spoke up next, introducing himself as Valmont while taking the seat to the dealer’s right hand. A third took the chance then to introduce themselves as @Chrys, manifesting what looked to be rock based dice. Her attention turned then to Yugam and Fiora, a smile playing in her lips, before the blonde pointed at the chairs directly in front of the dealer. She was the first to move towards them, claiming the one seat directly in front of Glamdark as the elf settled her drink down.

"I’m Lúthien, my friends and I were intrigued by the fliers handed out earlier in the day and decided to peek by and give our luck a test run~"

The introduction was short and simple, her attention turning then towards the game table as a hand extended towards it. Her eyes closed as she focused, thinking back to her masteries before the faint imagery of lighting crossed her mind. The idea attracted her attention, and the elf attempted to manifest a pair of d10s with the element in mind. Finally a set of dice materialized into her hand, the elf bringing them closer before she picked the two d10s of the set and casted them towards the table.

They bounced freely before finally coming to a stop, Lúthien unable to hide the frown on her face as one landed on an 8 and the other on 00—giving her a grand total of 8. With a sigh she picked the dice back into her hand, placing the set on her part of the table as the elf took her seat, before her hand reached back to her highball to take another sip.

Hopefully her luck would turn around soon…

Slowly, everyone filtered over to the game table, each with their own drinks. Yugam took a sip of his own as he took a seat beside @Luthien , eyes drifting over all the players as they were slowly seated. He noticed a couple others he'd at least seen before. The red headed man from the Trinity challenge stuck out the most, his red blaze of hair impossible to miss. He happened to be the first to stand and introduce himself. Yu nodded towards him in recognition before the next few people went.

After Luth had said her piece and cast her die, the man took his turn, standing to introduce himself. "My name is Yugam," he said, "but feel free to call me Yu. I'd wish you all luck, but frankly I'd like to walk away with your money at the end of the night," he said with a humorous grin. "Anyways, hope we all enjoy ourselves."

The man quickly waved his hand over his play space, a percentage dice falling from it. The man looked at the result before sitting back down. A 56. Not a bad start.

"Pssst! Hey, Zelrius! Hiii~"

For a moment she wished hyper sense was only an eye thing and not affected her hearing. The name made her head tilt on Luth's direction almost instantly so. Forgetting of her drink entirely, she traced the elf's sight until pinpointing who exactly was this 'Zelrius' in the entire room, and it turns out it's just who her gut warned her about, only now with a coat of red instead of yellow. But she didn't do so much as squint back at him. The last time they fought shoulder to shoulder, but now?

Too many counters and tables... And that's what they would be playing on, given they were about to gamble and these usually happened in the round sort. Except for how stupidly familiar it turned out to be to childhood games, even as their hostess introduced the game as something completely different to it.

And from one set of introductions to another, everyone sharing their own turn to give a slight trivia of themselves. From compelling to one liners, where Fiora spent the time just sharing looks to each of them as they introduced themselves. From the depressive but optimistic @Zelrius, to rock peddler @Chrys and the whimsical @Valmont. A colorful bunch the three of them...

Of course most of her attention ended up on her monkey-brained roommate and his dice. It came as a shocker to see the otherwise quiet kid be that cheeky and confident, with Chrys earning that spot for tonight, but the lack of chit chat all of them had was already telling her to rely on @Luthien for an actual conversation after they were done with their gaming.

On her own turn, Fiora took one quick sip of her cuba libre and manifested her own dice, a set made out entirely out of wood, far better than anything she carved before. A flawed die wouldn't quite do it here.

"Higher than you, midget." Fiora sideglanced @Yugam and dropped the dice, revealing a total of 86, and a cheeky smirk flashing pearly teeth back at mr. 'I'm taking all your money away'. "Fiora D'Angelo. Just here because I don't like this guy and I'm about to see if he can put his money where his mouth is." She crossed her legs, hand reaching out for her drink before addressing the rest of the group. "If I win though, ask nicely and I might give back what y'all lose... Might."

"Hmm, I see." Hanno crossed his arms, frowning at @Glamdark's analogy. The idea of taking away HP from the host wasn't very appealing for Hanno, it sounded like they were doing some PvP, something that Hanno wasn't really fond of, unless it was just some playful duel.

... A playful duel was something he maaaaybe could use as part of the analogy. And with that mindset, he gathered the determination to take the dice and start to work on rolling it real good.

"Well, should be fun, anyways-" He shrugged, looking at the group and flashing a grin. "Heya, name is Hanno." He tossed a dice. "Hanno Futaba." He tossed another.

85, certainly much higher than the average, so it was a nice start.

"Pleased to meet'cha all. I hope we have lots of fun." Hanno chuckled, fluttering his wings.

As the Tigress got her non-alcoholic drink on the table she would give @Glamdark her thanks before taking a good chug of her honeyed milk, Harper's gaze visibly melting in satisfaction as she closed her eyes and let out a satisfied sigh. That was truly the drink of the gods, and no living soul in Terrasphere could tell her otherwise.

She had the mind to talk a bit more to @Luthien , given that she was the only person there the beastkin knew much about, but that would have to wait as their hostess would start to explain the rules and mechanics of the game they were playing. The PVP aesthetic of it all did make it quite easier to Harper to follow, although looking at her hp value she couldn't help but wonder if she'd do well in a battle of attrition against the others. Some of them had quite high values, after all.

But the tigress wouldn't be deterred. It didn't matter how much she had, but how she would end up using it. And as long as she had one left, she was still game and a danger to everyone else's balance. Hovering her hand over the magical playing table as others had done before her, a pair of orange-and-black d50s mimicking her colors eventually appeared on the table, bringing out a surprised expression from the beastkin. Magic was truly something else, huh?

Lowering the cup with her honeyed milk to her waist, her striped tail would wrap around the bottom of the glass before she released the grip on her hand, her strength and her dexterity with the extra member letting her effortlessly keep her drink safe while she cupped her dice between her hands, shaking them for a little bit before opening her hands towards the table and letting the dice go wild, giving her 45. In a table that had seen high-highs and low-lows, she had landed in the middle. Not bad for a start.

"Well, slow and steady wins the race, after all. And I'm going to be here all night." The tigress would confidently proclaim with a big grin, baring her sharp canines for anyone looking at Harper. "Name's Harper, and I'm just here to win. The fact that I'm going home with an extra-heavy coin purse is just a bonus. Nothing personal." She'd taunt, her golden feline eyes looking over everyone before she continued, her arms crossed.

"Actually, it is. Because I'll personally wipe the floor with you all. But, you know, let's all have fun while that happens! After all, that's what matters!" With her chest puffed in pride and excitement, the tiger beastkin would settle in her chair, waiting for the game to start as her eyes would keep track of the others. It would do her good to spot any weaknesses early on to exploit as the night goes on.

♠ ♥ ♦ ♣ ALWAYS BET ON DARK : DEALER'S RUNNING COMMENTARY ♠ ♥ ♦ ♣

Current Mood: (◕‿◕✿) "Maybe I'll be okay after all~?"

"Then we are acquainted."

Glamdark smiled.

"And you have each proven capable of casting a dark die. There is little more to teach you, the game is set. But before that, allow me to remind you~ of The Retaliation Roulette~"

Motioning next to her, the group would see the roulette wheel from before, however, it now had glowing dark numbers on its spaces.

"The game will proceed as before, except for the addition of this final mechanic. For the observant, you may have noticed that the numbers on the wheel correspond with lots each of you cast. I assure you, that is by design. The Retaliation Roulette is a wheel of karma, and the means by which I will challenge you. But it is also, of course, left to luck.

From here on, when you cast your die, a phantom dark die will accompany it. As there are eight rolls being made each round at this table, it will be a 1d8 to start. As our numbers dwindle, so too, will the number of spaces on the roulette wheel.

----If that seems confusing, you needn't worry, just note that tossing a die entails risk, and therein lies the gamble. Have fun with it, it is what we're here for after all~"

Glamdark flipped her hair over one shoulder and smiled.

"Now then, which of you will claim the initiative by going first? The clock is ticking, and my HP is not infinite. Plan your strategy, all actions except the accursed 'massive attack die' are now available to you."

***

How to play:

This game has no turn order, one post per round:

1) Roll your chosen Action in The Dark Parlor Channel. If you are dealing damage, subtract that amount from the dealer's HP.

-Remember to include any bonuses you might have to your roll from passives, bonus actions, and weapons.
-If you are using an action that makes you vulnerable, you will receive double retaliation damage, so be careful.

2) Roll 1d8. The number you land on will correspond to an amount of damage on the Retaliation Roulette chart. Take that damage to your HP. If you are vulnerable, take double damage.

3) Decide if you want to roll a Save. You may roll each of your Save types (fortitude, reflex, will) once per game to reduce incoming damage by the amount you roll.

-Remember to include any bonuses which may add to your save roll from passives, bonus actions, or masteries.

Playtest rules: https://terrarp.com/wiki/Playtest_Packet
All attacks allowed except Massive Attack (burst & steady: more 1s than 20s = critical fail)
Heals and Recuperate (effects doubled)
Revive (works on self, once per game)
Armor Actions (once per game)
Each action has a 1-turn cd. You cannot use the same action back to back.

More rules, enough to make Hanno start reconsidering if he was at the right place. This was way too much for his brain to handle, but now that he was on it, he needed to at least try and not go through a shameful display of luck and skills... Which meant, he needed to try to hit as hard as he could right off the bat. Maybe he couldn't win the late game, but the early game? Hella, it was more than possible.

As soon as the opportunity opened, Hanno took a step forward.

"I can do it, buddy." Hanno smirked, tossing the dice upwards and grabbing them tightly, looking at the table that the group surrounded with confidence.

"Through great risks, to great rewards." He said, tossing his two dice, with one of them becoming transparent and disappearing as it showed a lower value than the other, that brimmed with a powerful energy.

122

"Hmm, could've been better."
Hanno muttered, frowning slightly when noticing the other dice landing on a 4. His HP barely budged, so maybe he was being more lucky than he thought.
