Wayfarer in the Dust: ( lore aspect here )

Flavor: Secrets, Mysteries, Knowledge, Discovery, Loss

Concepts: Akashic Records, The Library of Babel, Sybil,

Standing on the precipice of truth, were you fiercely blinded by its light and left to toil in the darkness. But not, before claiming some part of that unknowable thing for your own. You have been left with a single key, for a single door within the Hall of Mysteries. As you muster your resolve, you must determine whether becoming another lost book upon its shelves is worthy of finding your answer.

Your destiny has been woven into a single mystery, secret, or concept, which you have worked out with a storyteller. How this manifests differs from person to person, whether it be a puzzle box, a metaphysical journal, an unfinished work of art, or the snarling mad script of the deranged appearing on the world around you. The default, however, is the journal, which you may adapt the flavor of however you wish. No matter how it manifests, however, only you will be able to see it.

As you journey you may eventually find the wisdom and the resolve to ask the right question. Proceed with caution, the more you gain, the more you risk losing your place within The World.

All Deepens and Resolves work the same way.

Deepen: Roll 1d4, that many reputations will decrease as you subtly fade from The World.

Resolve: Roll 1d4, that many of your memories will decrease as you subtly fade from The World. The hard-won knowledge you have gained will always remain.

▶ Deepen I: Gain the 1st page and further knowledge of your mystery.
▶ Deepen II: Gain the 2nd page and further knowledge of your mystery.
▶ Deepen III: Gain the 3rd page and further knowledge of your mystery.
▶ Deepen IV: Gain the 4th page and further knowledge of your mystery.
▶ Deepen V: Gain the 5th page and further knowledge of your mystery.

▶ Resolve I: Become able to share the knowledge found on the 1st page with others.
▶ Resolve II: Become able to share the knowledge found on the 2nd page with others.
▶ Resolve III: Become able to share the knowledge found on the 3rd page with others.
▶ Resolve IV: Become able to share the knowledge found on the 4th page with others.
▶ Resolve V: Become able to share the knowledge found on the 5th page with others.

Thoughts: This is a formalized way for people who are interested in in a specific piece of mysterious lore and want to directly tie their character to figuring it out. They will need to ask permission from a storyteller to take this and choose a specific lore aspect or mystery when they do so. If that specific concept doesn't work, it can later be out-of-character refunded, or in-character shifted as a new door is found on the path.

Gondolier's Mercy

Flavor:

Syndra beholden. You are adrift on the silent gondola as the goddess of final journeys. In your wake, taken souls stir like autumn leaves, drawn to the in-completion of life and cruel fate. Though you cannot tell their stories, you carry them like precious cargo across the rivers of regret, guiding them back ashore, your mercy hearkened by her.

▶ Favor I: (vessel of will) from time to time you can sense the final regrets of those who have fallen. Carrying these thoughts to closure will slow the drain of your energy meters, even as you shoulder their psychic burden.
▶ Favor III: (white lily) When you permanently die, a single white lily will bloom somewhere in the world. The destined one who plucks it will carry on your will and memory.

▶ Scorn I: (avenger) you scorn the impartiality of death with a heart that yearns for vengeful justice. Your needs may fall into negatives when you are motivated by avenging others. The dead deserved better. They deserved life.
▶ Scorn III: (sineater) vengeance has changed you. A rebellious beast at the boundry that would tip the scales. When killing to avenge others, your needs and energy will replenish. This is a known characteristic of wraiths.
