It was at this point she could finally sit back and relax, once they were in fuck-knows-where. So long as their distance with the deadly space laser and themselves were long enough, she couldn't bother if they horsing around where the dead are red and redemption is nowhere to be found.

A poof of smoke escaped from her the corner of her mouth, shutting her eyes tight for a moment as she felt her wounds forcibly shut by a cauterizing fire. Unfortunately she couldn't keep herself from eavesdropping on the conversation with how tightly packed they all were, eyeing Corvella and her friend for a moment, judging whether or not to speak up before opting for silence.

They might aswell be fakes, in a fake world, with fake consequences, in a fake past. But if she were in their shoes, she wouldn't believe it either.

"Would be a real bitch if the shard didn't work as it should." That was a better out-of-jail card than running for their lives right now, specially being so close to this Vintergard as they are right now.

Fiora lifted one of her hands, shielding her organic eye from the flashy display of power the God Searing Light produced, her left hand gesturing over to @Magi Heart then to the burning city itself "Go, save some people." A suicide mission that wouldn't amount to much but a pointless sacrifice, yet a part of her believes in the pinkette jumping straight into the magia jaws she so much hated just like that.

"Alright," She turned then to face the hunter, pocketing her hands on her way to stand next to @Ronja Bubblyfoot, in an effort to shield her from the brightness coming out of the magia's orbital strike, "@Yugam, get us outta here."

Epilogue

They knew it was time for them to go.

"Hope we'll meet again. Thank you... and goodbye."

Beleg just nodded at the group. And as the invaders touched the shard and concentrated, they became enveloped in a light and after just a blink, they were already gone. The shard fell to the ground, losing its glow. The white-haired elf crouched to pick it up, storing it in his pouch before looking at Corvella, with both then continuing to leave the vicinity of the destroyed capital.

When you open your eyes again, you're back in a room that you were familiar with, sitting around a table on a chair. This was definitely the place that you remembered being in before you woke up on the other side of the mirror. The shard itself was placed on the table in front of you, being red-colored despite having the same exact shape and cut.

"You're all back. I assume he escaped, then. Still, operation success."

The voice came from near the door, belonging to a man in a mask. Despite just dealing with another guy in a mask just a few moments ago, this one definitely wasn't the same person that you just fought, being significantly older. The man nodded as if he was expecting the outcome as he circled the table slowly.

"It's alright to be confused. As I briefed three minutes ago, selective short-term memory loss is a common side effect of veildiving using just a shard." He raised one finger, before stopping as he realized something. "Ah, of course you wouldn't remember that. Just sit here and rest for a while until you're all okay, then."

The door behind him opened as the Beleg that @Luthien and @Yugam actually knew walked into the room.

"Grimr. They're back already?"

"All six of them. Tell the ferret-looking girl she can stop channeling now."

"Alright."

As the elf left the room to attend to this weirdly-described woman, Grimr reviewed important points that had been wiped from the group's memories. He reached to the table to pick up the red shard.

"We called that thing 'Veilgate'. It allows travel into the Veil; a world manifested by the sheer power of the collective wishes, mirroring our own albeit moving at an unstable pace in time."

"When Grimr and I fought him and his followers, we destroyed the gate. Turns out the broken shards could still be used if powered correctly."

Having done his business, Beleg appeared back at the doorway, recounting the event that led to this while crossing his arms.

"They'll eventually find the other shards and find a way to contact him. And because he's still roaming wild in that world, we can only hope that the other Corvella survives his future attempts to seize her power."

"For now, go rest. Explanations can follow later."

And rest, you should. After all, your fight isn't over yet.

Congratulations!

Loot

Fiora Di Angelo

  • Vanadis's Visage. A broken piece of the savior's visor. Resonating with it enables one to call upon the mighty power of the protector, allowing the user to inherit the physical traits of the dark knight and the colossal protector.

Ronja Bubblyfoot

  • Fenrir Processing Unit. The computing core of the highly intelligent analytical magia Lupus-REX is encased inside its nigh-indestructible head. Without Szofrit in this world, it has no directive to follow, yet its function and personality remain.

Magi Heart

  • Jormungandr's Fang. Dissonant essence left by the heroine of a different world. It is attracted to and bonds with other dissonant beings, Embrace its voracity, as all will be reduced to nothingness when it finishes eating.

Yugam

  • Ullr's Longcaster. Forged by the Gods to kill Gods. X0-Prototype's highly advanced magia-created weapon adjusts its form to the user's own essence and delivers highly devastating shots with each trigger press.

Luthien

  • Valfreyju Stafr. Weapon of the battle-goddess. It takes minimal effort to operate the apparatus with magical runes on its side, as it was able to magically launch physical or magical projectiles with devastating speed and rate.

Madison Freebird

  • The Veilcard. On the topmost of your deck, you found a card that wasn't there before; looking at it, you would only see yourself reflected on it, tinted as red as blood. Wonder where you last saw a tinted mirror like it before?
