Bonnie Bonbon? More like Bonnie Bondead.
Like shadows in the background,
Like a nameless horde of travelers,
Hardly any of them turned around.
Were it not for the goat-horned beastkin's indagation, she almost followed the same flesh-beaten path.
A lower lip bitten down by pearly whites. Hands clenched into fists brimming with frustration, a feeling directed at nobody in particular. Though no one was to blame for these circumstances, Traveler or not, human nature reared its head when faced with the umbrae of sacrifice. She watched, silently, as the gentleman left, as the specter of a friend remained, but at the end of it all —
None of them were here when it truly mattered.
‘Lumus.’ Arcane spellcraft charged the burning fragrance, generating a thin veil that barred the entry of any bugs. The combined glow of her barrier and Shane caused the hellish background to fade into white even further.
There was only herself, Nai, Shane and anyone else who had decided to stay.
A sweat broke down her soft features. Bonnie waited for the exchange between the other two to end, before she hit the horned woman with a light chop on the head to switch out.
‘Carry her back? More like creeping her back. Quit it with the staring.’ Though her words were harsh, the meaning and intent behind them were not. Seeing another face here in this fleshbound hell reinvigorated her trust in humanity. The blonde crouched near Shane, even as her overpowering starlight shone upon herself. Delicate hands reached forward to grasp the other’s enlarged ones.
‘…Hey, Shayna.’
Silence.
‘I… Don’t know you.’ and as such, she had to start from the beginning,
‘I’m Chris.’ akin to the warmth of a sunny morning, her emotions beamed upon the encroaching darkness pulling at Shane, a unique ability of her race.
Truthfully speaking, she couldn’t share everything.
‘You know… Before coming here, I destroyed my whistle.’ @Toko
But even then, every little memory cherished deep within,
‘I was angry, but you’ve made me realize I totally missed the point.’
Revealed, thus far, how his adventure has been.
‘The whistles never failed anybody.’ the anger she once had felt at the thought was no more.

‘And seeing you now, I honestly think that…’ her lips trembled.
A wave of emotions fromChris, for Shayna to make of them her own.
‘You are really, really cool!’ Shane could have tried to save her own life, but chose this path instead.

‘Everybody’s safe now, so you don’t… Have… to worry…!’ sharing an entire life’s worth of emotions forced tears to build up in her eyes.

‘So if you want me to say anything to anyone… I will do what I can, but, we don’t have a lot of time,’
And even the joyful moment when his baby sister’s tiny hand held his own for the first time.
‘I’m just myself, you know, so I… can’t speak for everyone else.’
To speak these words should be a simple thing to do.
‘But even then, on behalf of everybody outside that can’t say it now- -’
For on her torch burned the duty of saying - -
‘Thank you.’
And finally, the tears rolled down her face.
Bonnie guided Shane’s hands, clasping them together with her own. A barely visible arcane glow later, and three whistles were left on the palm of their hands. She carefully put one on Shane’s mouth, another on her own, and offered the last one to @Nai.
Across the battlefield, the high-pitched cry of their whistles resonated before everything faded away within the bright and colorless radiance.
They were gone, but their dreams and emotions burned brighter than the stars, lighting up the torch to show them the way.
Theirs was a vow,
A vow of —
@Shane
