Relief and happiness were short-lived.
Ruby's illusory copy rushed toward
@Shane, the only one from her group in the ruins that stayed behind. The illusion stared at her intently, with Ruby's primal aura begging her to move and leave, trying to urge her to it.
But there was no positive response.
Only one response... And it wasn't from her. No. It was from
something.
An attack erupted, and Ruby was quick enough to avoid most of it. Not only because she was one of the fastest around, but also because that sharp attack didn't aim to reap her, but rather to reap someone else...
And this someone else...
"S-Sol..." Ruby clenched her fist around the grip of her sword, only starting to move again because she struggled to escape from the swarm that continued to fiercely attack her.
She hurried to get to
@Bluebird and
@Ru Ning, breathing heavily and looking at both of them with tear in her eyes.
"Birdie, Ning- Sol is..." Her ears dropped. After everything she did, her friend still died. After all the effort, after staying behind, after fighting for hours, after being rescued, after every sweat and blood spilled. All for nothing.
Her eyes went up to Bluebird, with her words soothing her for a moment, but not quite enough to put every single piece that was parted from her heart together. Not even she could do it, unfortunately, the feeling of impotence was too overwhelming. Closing her eyes and averting her face, when she opened her eyes again she was in the sight of the illusion that still remained next to Shane, who was now in a catatonic state beyond solution.
Flickering, the illusion stood, with a last primal aura slipping from it. She wasn't going to be alone, Ruby wasn't going to allow it, just like she didn't with Sol. Even if she couldn't be there physically anymore, she would be in any way she could. The illusion approached, touching the mutating form of the poor victim, holding onto her and burying her face in Shane.
When her true eyes opened again, she was welcomed by Bluebird's song, and looking at her blade, she was overwhelmed by feelings again. Regardless of fever, regardless of anything.
It was just too much.
Letting go of her blade, any will to fight in Ruby was gone. With her heart torn apart between a bitter mix of feelings, she did what she did the best. Express herself with dance, and this time not matching with Bluebird's uplifting tone.
The moves were slow and long, just like a lingering pain.
Her sway of tail followed her body and the dance that lacked a faster rhythm, being erratic also, just like a mind that couldn't focus any longer.
Flickering, illusions once again detached from her.
If she didn't have the will to fight anymore, she would give the will she had lost to others that could still fight.

@Lucy, the first illusion, is one of vague relief. After all, there were still some of her friends alive and fine. Nearing the faerin, it touched her shoulder with a gentle warmth, giving her the health necessary to continue thriving for her friends.
@Sean Poteitoku, the second illusion was a small hope and belief. One that knew that even if she couldn't go back in time to save her friend, it was still possible to make sure others would be saved. Wrapping her hands on top of the fellow fiery-haired, giving an extra push to his blade.
@Jin, the third illusion was all the regret and hatred. She knew it wasn't possible to return Sol's life now, but she knew it was possible to make every inch of its body scorch in pain and suffering that it had caused everyone so far. The illusion echoed its primal aura.
