Red Fever (9)

Finisher bouns:+35 in total (+10 from Serenity Mist, +25 from Kiryuu's hype chain)

He would exchange looks with @Frey Elzeiros for a moment before attempting to get up. Feeling oddly rested from his one second of rest. Before he could even address him suddenly a huge blast hit him. A warning had flashed and said "TANK BUSTER" on his heads-up display. His current condition was absolutely not the worst but still managed to be still be standing. His shield felt absolutely shredded throwing to the side frowning. The matron went into a rage while she spat out an orb into the air, people seemed like they were splitting into teams. Giving nod to @Harukami for her kind words and healing he would smile for a moment before focusing on the task at hand. Looked around to see @Sol but from what he could gather she was turned into a fine red mist from the tank buster and hoped she could get revived soon.

next to speak to him was @Schilva Flasch but before he could get a moment he was off. Feeling a hand on his shoulder it was a beautiful woman @Gideon. It was indeed their turn to strike as he had only his hand ax without his shield. He would follow the finisher team to finally put the matron down once and for all. He was locked out of his transformation but he used what little power he had left. No more moments to go beyond just a beastman tired and learning as the fight went on. It wasn't anything special but a simple leap into the air and using two hands to bring down the ax on the Marton dealing as much damage as possible. A swarm of insects cut into him as came down and pushed thru the pain and his weapon cutting into Marton.

Battering away at the monster's body, Regan suddenly felt the creature slump down and hit the ground.

"HAHAHA! DONE ALREADY?! GET UP! I'M NOT DONE WITH YOU YET, TRASH!"

Suddenly, the air shifted. Standing on the creature's back, Regan could feel the creature's power gathering into a massive attack. It was only then that Regan noticed she had been protected. Looking over she saw the grotesque spectacle that had become @Shane . Possibly her last action had been shielding Regan with her magic. Knowing she could do nothing to help the woman, Regan shouted through gritted teeth.

"I'LL REMEMBER YOU, AND AT THE VERY LEAST I PROMISE I'LL BE SENDING THIS THING'S CARCASS BACK TO HELL IN PIECES! YOU CAN COUNT ON THAT! WHEREVER THE HELL YOU END UP AFTER THIS LIFE, TAKE SOLACE IN THE FACT THAT YOUR MEMORY LIVES ON IN MY BLADES!"

Turning her attention back to the creature, Regan watched as the creature began to power all of it's energy into a massive black orb of power. Regan knew what she needed to do. Taking flight, Regan left the creature's back flying around to gain some momentum. Suddenly she smiled as a familiar face graced her vision. Flying by the woman, Regan called out to @Lady N .

"SO YOU DECIDED TO SHOW UP? LEFT YOUR CAGE TO FINALLY DO SOMETHING? HAHAHAHA! IT'S NOT JUST A GAME IS IT? LANDERS AREN'T JUST CODE ARE THEY? FEEL FREE TO TELL ME HOW RIGHT I WAS WHEN ALL THIS IS OVER!"

Not waiting for a response, Regan got into position. Unsheathing both of her blades, Regan pointed Carmilla at the creature.

"YOU THINK THAT BALL OF ENERGY WILL BE ENOUGH TO SAVE YOU! YOU'RE HORRIBLY MISTAKEN IF YOU THINK IT WILL EVEN BE ABLE TO STOP ME! HAHAHAHA! LET ME SHOW THE POWER OF A REAL VAMPIRE!"

Taking her swords in a reverse grip, Regan plunged them both into her chest momentarily before ripping them out of herself. Regan's blood hardened around the blades.

"VAMPIRE ART, BLOOD SHARPENED BLADES!"

Regan looked down at her sword that had been upgraded by @Omega Redux. The sword vibrated as though the magitech embedded in the blade had gone into overdrive.

"I DON'T KNOW IF YOU CAN HEAR ME LITTLE ONE (Omega) BUT I HOPE TO HELL THIS SWORD CAN WITHSTAND THIS!"

Gritting her teeth, Regan shouted out even louder than she normally did.

"MY NAME IS REGAN, VAMPIRE SWORDSWOMAN, AND FUTURE VAMPIRE QUEEN OF TERRASPHERE, AND I'LL BE DAMNED IF I LET A SHIT ROLLING BUG STAND IN MY WAY! FOR BLOOD AND GLORY! HAHAHAHA!"

Charging at the great ball, her two blades soaked in her own blood, Regan's swords met the ball of energy.

"I'LL KEEP PUSHING UNTIL I CUT THIS BALL IN HALF!"

Letting out a roar, Regan pushed with all her might against the orb.

lion's pride...
-54 / 185

Status: Dead

Every Star-Called and non player was dutiful. Acting out to vanquish the evil lifeform that was the... whatever this demon-bug... It was a demon, at least in Ilya's eyes. She never truly depicted demons or the devil as all those cartoons. It all boiled down to their malevolent and cursed energy in her eyes, at least since she joined Terrasphere. This one was no different, Ilya no longer saw it as a life form, but as a blob of this cursed and moving energy and magic concentration. It had long since shed it's insect skin to become akin to that of the devil. Everything was moving so utterly fast that the lioness had feelings of loss. Like she wasn't doing the right thing in comparison. Yet she was working as hard as anyone else, and that had to count for something. Despite everyone that had believed in her, here she hung. From the horn that graced the head crest of the Kurungaar Mother. She was a- ways away from its face, but it didn't change the fact that she was travelling wherever the insect did, flying about whenever it shifted its head. It began to stomp around and Ilya tried her best to cling to the horn that she had previously been using as support to adjust her position should she need. Not long after, it flung its body around as it fell to the ground. Her body being slingshotted a few paces past the bug. Thankfully she landed on her back, sitting up when she got ahold of her breath (that had been knocked out of her). However, she was even more unfortunate. If she had clung to the horn rather than letting her get tossed, then maybe it never would have happened. Her vision filled with a raging beam, one that was so heavily concentrated that she almost went blind. Blind would be a nicer fate, as the beam rained down on her and several others. Her vision flooding white before red, before it faded out completely.

For anyone outside that had made it to the next round, all they had to do was look in her direction to see her fate. Her body was sprawled on it's back, her eyes open and staring into the sky. Anyone might mistake her as alive, but she was the literal definition of "There's Not a Thought Behind Those Eyes". However, those that knew her, would be able to tell that she had died.

Everything felt numb, her limbs unable to move... Her mind, utter chaos. Yet the pain was gone, the sweat and hard effort hopefully paid off. Everything was black in Ilya's vision except a blinking red box. One that made her realize just what happened, she had died. Everyone that had been rooting her on and cheering her up... They had all believed in her, so how did this happen? Her distress was catching up, her fear of disappointing her friends. Especially the likes of @Zelrius and @Brutus Dahlgren. She had pushed herself too hard, just like Zelrius had told her not to. Surely they both would be disappointed in her. Maybe it would even get to the point that they would abandon her and leave her in the dust like everyone else in her life. They would see just how weak and useless she was. Her efforts against fighting the boss had been in vain, she probably hadn't even made a dent in it's hp bar.

Death wasn't really death for her, she would just revive like it never happened... So why was she feeling like it was the end? Like everything she had worked so hard for up till this point was useless? The feelings that flooded the last of Ilya's moments made her fall into utter despair. Her thoughts eating away and consuming her entire being as she felt anguish take over her body..

Warning

@Ilya, you are dead. If you are not revived within the time limit, your body will reconstruct at the nearest sanctified location.

Red Fever (7)
Red Fever effects temporarily nullified
-8 DMG from Map (halved by C8 protect)

The situation turned from serious to dire in a moment's notice, and it didn't help much that the geniuses behind the cannons failed at basic math, or something else happened to cause all their efforts to go to nothing. Everything she worked for, again, thrown to waste.

And for a second in her mind, @Zelrius and his tablebreaking antics consumed her memories, and that anger resurfaced as twitching eyes switched back their fury towards the head of all of this, Nin (@Pandora*)

"HEY GENIUS, CALCULATE HOW MANY TIMES I GOTTA KICK YOUR ASS TO MAKE THESE CANNONS SHOOT." Fiora lashed out, emotions bottled up and finally uncorked. No, the mist wasn't failing, she still had a clear head over her shoulders, and yet this hate, the fact that everyone or everything kept sabotaging any efforts she put to NOT be a mindless killing machine.

Apparently, that's what the world wanted. It continued to push her to the edge at every opportunity, awaiting for any sense of excitement and accomplishment, only to squash when it couldn't peak no further.

"I'M DONE WITH YOU ALL. AND YOU-" A fiercesome index finger pointed straight back to the matron-

"YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE."

With all the bark done, it was time for the bites. Granted she already spent too much energy, this would use every ounce of not only the imaginary interface meter, but that of her own body. Sweat, dirt, slime, all she's been piled up with hours ago and all that effort poured to assist in this stupid crusade into Tangleweaves- She's hoped chill pills were real in Terrasphere for afterwards...

Azure lightning cracked all across her frame, summoned blade crafted within it's scabbard, her dash sending dirt specks all around until she could finally get airborne through arcane runes set upon the thin air, mere stepping stones that waited not for gravity, and her own form less so as golden strings begun to emanate from her form and time itself accelerated to help her cut the distance with the orb, enough to put it on reach of her own ranged attacks.

Her blade caught up to this golden energy that emanated from her, a bubble the size of the orb covering it like a thin layer, as if it had it's own atmosphere to surround it. Her sword arm quickly held the sheathed blade from it's hilt, almost about to break it by sheer force alone as her body 'vibrated' in quick succession several times.

Each vibration sending arcane cut after arcane cut, a death trap, a flurry of magic and swordsmanship alike that instantly occupied the spacious bubble, containing it's onslaught solely for the orb's existence to suffer. Her speed begun to decrease, as from vibrations she turned to flicks from her wrist as sparks were created from around the guard.

She should have named it something epic like 'Tsubame Gaeshi'.

"FUCK

YOU
AND
YOUR
BITCH-ASS

ORB!"

But every slash accompanied an insult to further spit all the saltiness she collected from earlier instead.

Of course this damn insect was not going to go down without some attempt at vengeance. Alonso snarled as the queen began to rise and charge up an orb of demonic energy, bent on ridding the area of those who dared to stop her. It was not enough to deter the titanic Felis. If anything, his glowing eyes blazed further spiritual energy as he glared at the orb above. No, it was not out of his reach by a long shot.

Then he heard @Seto Kurama ordering to finish it. "UNDERSTOOD!" He gave a look over towards @Ueno Mizuki , confirming her presence in the chaos as he lunged towards the orb in the sky. Behind the Beastlord Champion was a nice series of cracks in the ground from both his sheer might and weight. He surrounded his body in even more of his bluish energy, infusing his fists with spirit magic, though it was his personal strikes that will do the job otherwise.

But he was joined by @Regan who was spewing her usual speech of tearing her foes asunder. Yet, in this instance Alonso was not annoyed by it. His giving into his berserker nature was only fueled by her claims as the feral soul inside of him felt an even greater blessing.

Upon reaching the orb Alonso began to furiously strike at it with a series of wide punches and kicks. "YOU WILL FALL TO THE BEASTLORD'S WILL, YOU UNDESERVING BASTARD," he spat out as his rage overtook him more and more. His strikes hit in efforts to disjoint and impede the energy flowing around it, and others who can also feels spirits might feel the outright disturbance he was causing.

Darko was still reloading his revolver when that large insect swept the area with a massive beam of magical energy, eradicating those who had stood in its way, its massive shockwave sweeping away those that did not brace themselves. As his upper clothes were stripped from that shockwave, he could only thank that mysterious hydromancer who had given him sufficient protection from the acid and the shockwave (@Magdalyn), for he knew that if she did not bothered to give him that water armor, he could have fared much worse. Nodding his head towards her to give his appreciation to what she did, he then assessed the situation anew.

Everyone seemed to have been staggered by the shockwave, and some were even dead after that massive beam incinerated them. He could only offer a salutation to the dead, but this was not the time for that. There was a massive orb that hovered above that insect, and he would need to try to pop it off without it imploding towards everyone again. If his bullets were too powerful, he might end up over-penetrating the orb and having it implode towards them.

He then ended up taking off the bullets that he had loaded and then replaced it with black powder charged ones, keeping his composure while the insects hovered and feasted on the wounds on his left arm. He tried to kill them off by using localized black holes, but the amount of insects swarming made it a hard task as he still tried to load the bullets with one hand. As he had finished loading them, he then mustered his final energy to move his left arm to help keep his aim steady, copious amounts of blood squirting from his left arm as he did that. He again charged the gun with his dark magic, and then, pulled the trigger as fast and as frequent as he could, sending 16 bullets loaded with dark magic onto the orb, punching through its outer layer before it slowed and stopped inside the orb, continuously rotting the magic inside the orb away to render it useless.

Cynna had been equipped by Trevis, and though Cynna was comfortable, it was still like trying to drive someone else's luxury car instead of your own. It was a matter of finding the right settings. Cynna patted Trevis's head as she spoke, like she was searching for some Regan feature, the one that made him go...

"In the WORLD of business what WE have now is CALLED SYNERGY. In the WORLD of BUISNESS what we SHALL now DO is called SEAL THE DEAL. Let's end this with ELEGANCE and STYLE. For we HAVE people WAITING for our VALOROUS deeds. FIND ME TARGETS! ONWARD! SO CYNNA DECLARES, YE ARE GOLDEN, AND SO MIDAS SHALL GRASP THE WORLD." @Asch @mina

Focusing her divine aura, Cynna enveloped herself and by extension Trevis in it.

"DO NOT LET REGAN'S (@Regan ) GESTURE BE IN VAIN."

It was around then that Trevis and thus Cynna were yanked by a VERY spooky chain.

"gacku..."

As they flew Cynna saw something unforgiveable. The cannons had not yet fired. Her tiny frame fumed.

"DAGNABBIT WHAT ARE YOU BOZOS DOING! USE THE SLIME FOOLS!"

Few knew this, but it was Cynna who had passed the slime presence check, or, at least, it was plu who thought she had.
Slimes could communicate... The Slime Ones were sympathetic in spirit... Cynna knew this.

As Bluebird recovers from the insect's devastating blast, she hears all too clearly the sour melody left in its wake. She does not need to know much about this world to understand what has happened - what she will see if she looks to those places where the creature's energy scoured the sky.

She knows that there is a reason she can no longer see or hear @Sol.

But she's run out of tears to shed, or regrets to drown in. There is no reason to flee anymore - not now, when they're so close, when there's a chance to ensure such things will never happen again.

And she knows one thing for sure - like the sun she's named for, Sol will rise again. After all, this is only a game.

"After this, everyone..." Bluebird smiles to the others - to @Cain Darlite, who carried her song to the others. To @Vina Skysong, who had lifted her own voice to help lift others. To @Crimson Ruby, her first and dearest friend. "Let us sing and dance together once more!"

And then she turns, running as fast as the wind can carry her, and leaps off the beast as she raises her voice nearly to a scream.

"LISTEN TO MY SONG!"

❰ Evocation: Musica Universalis ❱

The wind spirals around her as she falls, song and starlight weaving into a shroud. Behind her it gathers and spreads, luminous wings feathered with the deep blue of distant nebulae. They spread, catching the wind and shifting her dive into a shallow glide. In that way she begins to circle the battlefield, a trail like a comet's tail following in her wake, the wind beneath her wings the orchestra to bolster her melody.

Hear, rising whistles!
Hear, mighty lions roar!
Hear, wisdom's guidance!
Hear, freedom evermore!
A song of inspiration, a song of defiance. The road has been long and harsh, but she's felt more joy and sorrow in these scant few days than she's felt for a lifetime.

Sword and spell, intertwining 'midst the endless-
Darkness spreads, spilling ever onward towards-
Horizons bright, call us ever forward to the-
Sun rises, burns away the raging storm!
Let its light shine forevermore!
What a brilliant, terrifying world this is, to offer such marvelous horrors.

Lead us ever forward...
It might nearly be paradise.

Certainly Dead.

When the snow ended, there were only ashes and photographs.

They left. Some, bounding away, drawn by fury and disgust. Words malicious and taunting, weapons sated upon the matron that wriggled beneath their feet. Brave or angry. It did not matter. A monster was still to be slain, and the darkness buzzed with things much more nauseating than light rain and arcane vortexes.

Others. Others lingered. An older gentleman (@Alastair Brass ) traded kind words, his concerns dissolved by the clarity of what ‘reality’ was for the player. UI Locked, intentionally. Any gambit for a chance. It was enough to make them all understand, then, and even that flame-haired beastkin (@Crimson Ruby), so passionate, so bright-eyed, could only…resign herself to this. A shadow, a silhouette, was what she left behind, filled with feelings meant only for the one who stayed.

More had words (@Jin). Most had pity (@Ilusa Nakhalee @Gideon). Speeches, resignation, surrender. It couldn’t be helped. That was what it was. It couldn’t be helped, so it was better to let go, to see them off, to pull the plug, to focus on what else they could do.

A girl (@Seigi Ling Ling) was shouting. A girl who fancied herself a hero.

That girl did not so much as turn in her direction.

It was by nature, after all. Those who looked forward did not look back.

And, goodbyes said, resolution affirmed, this cesspool of suffering was emptied out, leaving Shane alone with her thoughts, with a body that fused to a bug, a mind melted by infection.

With Nai.

Incense filled the air, smelling of pine. Within the fluctuating meat of the Broodmother, one that was lit ablaze by a woman so full of magic that all was painted in white, it was perhaps stupid for one to light a coil of insect repellent, but Nai could not tolerate bugs who'd disturb this moment. She squinted into the corona of magic, shading her eyes with her arms, and then approached, one foot over the other. Climbing once more, mounds of flesh that sweated and writhed, overheated musculature scalding her hands through her gloves. Burnt flesh filled the air too, more nauseating sensations, but without the pain, there was no stimuli to stop her ascent.

By function, warriors warred. Healers healed. Tanks tanked.

By nature, Nai did as she wished.

Fingers grasped onto the ear, pulled the flesh-mound and the horned woman face-to-face, even as Shane’s mien had become incandescent, even as Nai’s eyes slitted at radiance she instinctively turned from. That didn’t stop her either though, from flicking her wrist and jamming a flask into the mound’s mouth, pushing the bitter contents down the throat, washing away the blood from vessels bursting under the stress of expansion.

Not Serenity. Just Tea.

“Last words and full name.” Straightforward and contemptuous. Distance enough to keep her own heart in place once this ended. “I’ll carry it back to the others so there'll be a proper gravestone for your ashes.”

Her job was done when the rescue was complete.

It wasn’t complete.

Sean pried his sword out of the enemy and retreated to gather his bearings. The battle was seemingly starting to reach its climax, and he was starting to get concerned...

That is, until he noticed something don his face. A pair of sick-ass shades had appeared on Sean's face, assistance from an ally. He turned to the comrade that provided the shades (@Omega Redux) and gave them a thumbs up.

Many thanks, friend!

Looking forward to the orb, Sean knew what he had to do. In each hand, fire magic converged to create a sword. In his left hand, the flames glowed blue, while they formed into a red blade in his right hand. With a deep breath, Sean jumped into the air, ready to make a difference.

I know what I must do!

May these blades of flame carve a path to a brighter future!

Everybody, believe in the me that believes in you!

Sean launched himself straight at the orb. Once he got within melee distance, he plunged his dual fire blades into the orb as he landed on the ground. He looked up to see the dual blades glowing brilliantly from their new spots in the orb, a marker of the impact Sean had made.

This was it, it seeemed. Whatever that orb was, it didn't look good and Cleo desperately wanted the beast dead before whatever that thing was could lance out or whatever and destroy them all. The big attack had looked bad. Everything looked bad and there were STILL those insects flying around everywhere, stinging or biting or whatever the hell was going on. It seemed like there was absolutely no possible way that things could get any worse.

And then the cannons broke due to the big concentration of energy and Cleo quickly realized just how much she'd been tempting fate by thinking that things couldn't get any worse. Still, she at least could help out there. Plus she needed time to power herself for this. Patting a hand on the shoulder of @Vina Skysong Cleo raced off, towards the broken cannons.

Okay! The damage isn't too bad so we can definitely make these things fire, so long as nobody does anything stupid.

She crouched low next to a cannon, her eyes scanning over it, spotting structural weaknesses and calling them out for the people that could actually fix them. Eyes that had been trained in reality to spot clues were put to work spotting damage and imperfections, flaws that could cause the cannons to break and malfunction. And the work all began to pay off, as Cleo was certain in her heart, that they WOULD get these cannons operational again. @Asch

All the while, magenta began to bleed into red hair and crimson eyes, the tight bodysuit that the lancer had been wearing flaring out, becoming more and more dress-like with each breath that she took, a spear in her hand breaking apart and reforging into a dense and heavy wand, the very tip sharp enough to pierce stone.

And then she opened eyes that were laced with arcane energy, each breath causing a burst of raw magical force, the hand that held the wand raising, pointing it into the air.

And above the battlefield, a world of spears manifested....

I've little patience for this orb. I've decided that my spears will be the only danger that fill the skies. Now give it to me.

And with that, as she swung her arm down, a rain of crimson began to fall, as spears barraged the orb, falling into it and being destroyed, though each one lashed out, ripping away as much energy as it possibly could. Cleo's own body lashed out, tendrils of arcane power stabbing into the orb, stealing part of its energy to disrupt the form, even just a little bit more.

Harukami was still struggling to come to terms with a few facts. One, @Schilva had just left her a moment ago with his scabbard and mirror. Two, and more importantly, she'd just seen many people die or that were dying. Pale as one of the ghosts she could see, Harukami's legs shook violently.

Her breathing was erratic, and she didn't know what to do. The cannons were ready, but she was far from it. In a panic, she created three balls of light again, shooting them in random directions at people that looked hurt.

"P-Please beat it!" She called out, tearing ever so slightly.

Her spell was weak due to her lack of concentration- but it would surely do at least a little good to the people she healed as the balls of light melted into the skin of @The Guy, @Jin, and @Sean Poteitoku. "Y-You can do it, you guys!"

Hanno glanced at @Bradwynne's enraged words, having a half smirk on the side of his lips. "You told him, buddy." He said, having both @Laylabelle and @Rook the Quick on his shoulder and hurrying his way out of the creature, ending on the top of it while both of them continued to fight bravely even in their most tired and exhausted conditions.

Rook darted off, and Hanno shouted: "Be safe, buddy! We need to meet again!" He breathed, then turning to look at Laylabelle, smiling fondly. "Of course I found you. I promised I would help you, didn't I?" Hanno's smile then turned proud at her words.

"You've learned well. I'm glad that helped to save your life and the others too." Hanno couldn't express how much relief he was feeling at the moment, breathing in and watching her arrows erupting and bringing hope for others.

He peered around, watching the battlefield unfolding before the head he was stepping on rumbled, seeming to be an incoming attack. Hanno quickly opened his UI to send a message.

Hanno Futaba - @Corsair & @Cleo Looker

Corsair, Cleo! I have my friend with me, I'm going down NOW. Let's fight that thing off before it is too late!

His eyes locked on Laylabelle's, with a determined expression. "Yes, and we will fight until the end for it. Hold on tight, Belle, we are going for a flight now." Hanno said fiercely, grabbing Ghast and tossing on the shoulder that Rook left before picking up Laylabelle on his arms and darting off toward the edge of the gargantuan monster.

Jumping, it would seem to anyone else that he was going for a free fall along with his friend, but soon his scarf brimmed with magic, becoming longer and billowing like a wing.

Their fall slowed down, and the swarm came one after another, with Ghast stretching its tentacles out to slap them out of their way while Hanno ensured Laylabelle was protected from most of the harm as they charged to the ground. At some point, one bigger insect surpassed Ghast's defenses, and Hanno was forced to do a barrel roll that sent him and his friend to an emergency landing, but the faerin was quick to cushion her fall with his body, gritting his teeth while he felt the impact.

Thankfully, his shield was soft enough to also cushion his own fall, and Hanno was quick to regain his feet, helping his friend to get on her feet as well, "Are you alright, buddy? Just a little more and we will be fine-" He said, turning to look just in time to meet his other two buddies.

"I hope you guys didn't miss me!" He yelled at Corsair and Cleo with a grin, putting his shield forward while it rumbled lowly.

"Kuuu..." Ghast watched the incoming swarm, and Hanno readied himself.

"Ready? It is time to bring them down!" Hanno said, slamming his shield on the ground, making its tentacles grow wider and its eyes clench shut, soon opening into a giant mouth in its place, releasing an outworld shriek before starting to suck every creature in front of it like a black hole, howling with a dissonant sound that glitched any nearby UI.

By the end of the Ghast's ultimate devouring, it burped quietly with the results being most of the nearby swarm was either devoured by the shield or stunned by the sudden aura that surrounded them. Following it, Hanno released his own divine aura right after, creating a force field that bounced off most of the swarm's reinforcements allowing Laylabelle, Cleo, and Corsair to attack any remaining ones or have room to attack anything from a long range.

"Don't worry about me, buddy. Help the wounded!" He said.

This sequence of actions strained Hanno mentally and physically, but he continued to hang in there, soon reminding himself of someone else that was in this combat, struggling and sending her a message when some breathing room was available.

Hanno Futaba - @Harveste

Luna, is everything alright on your side?

Armor Ability: Surge Activated

The world was awash in blood in fire, tainted magical energy bleeding from every surface. She could feel it in the air, thick, heavy and drowning out almost everything else. And then, it was over. The beam had definitely done a number on their ranks,. She wanted to get out there and save the dead and dying, but it she needed to deal with the threats first. It was no use reviving people if they died again right after. She'd learned her lesson, paid it in blood.

A mountain is strong, tall, unyielding. A mountain a hundred years ago will still be a mountain today, but nothing can resist the flow of time, or water. A stream trickling endlessly into rock will eventually carve a path for not even the mightiest stone can resist erosion. Their foe right now was a titan, standing tall over them all. It was the height of foolishness to try and topple a mountain, but carving it? People have done more with less.

She planted one of her charms into the ground, and called forth a spring of water. The ground here couldn't support much else, steeped in tainted magic and death as it was. It would have to do for now. Three people caught her attention, those who would fearlessly charge into the heart of battle with naught but skill and determination to see them through. Pure waters surged through Brutus, Toko and Jin, granting the power to take destiny into their own hands, and shape the future. Their blows would be amplified by blasts of water, slicing into their targets with great force. The strength of the water amplified by the strength of their own will.

❰ Mountain Shaper ❱

As the energy faded, Sumire found herself kneeling in front of the spring of water she created. It was already sputtering out, infused with dark magic and filth. She tried to get up but her body just refused to respond. Glancing down at her arms, black blood mixing into the tainted earth, Ayame idly wondered if this would be the end of her journey. It was times like these where she cursed her inability to use the game functions, she never got to tell Leila she was sorry.

Tris darted through the air like a flying squrrel jet plane, her arms spread apart to allow her wingsuit to catch the updraft of her magic. From up high, she was able to catch a glance of the battlefield at large, or at least in-between dodging and weaving through all these irritating pests... and also the flying bugs.

@Omega Redux
In the midst of all this, she saw the unmistakable silhouette of a familiar magia, distributing strange glasses like a black market arms dealer. How fitting. She dove and landed with a spin nearby.

"Give me one of those, Omega-sama," she "asked," playing to the girl's fantasies in the hopes it'd speed up the process. Wasn't she supposed to be one of her... five generals or whatever? If Tris was playing this game, she was gonna do it right.

"Excellent...!"

Become Machine!

Hand thrust out in front of her, a swarm of flying drones arose from the ground, dutifully following the master's orders. Screws... bolts... adhesive that may or may not have been made to permanently attach metal plates to the skin!

@Seigi Ling Ling
"Seigi!" she called out the fighter she'd met earlier in Vintergard and the swarm went to work. Thrusters, servos, plate-armor: the works!

@Cain Darlite
"Seigi's friend-slash-lover!" she called out to him next. She hadn't the slightest clue what their relationship was, but she knew "that look" when she saw it, which in her case was literally never. Salty jealousy aside, he got the same treatment.

@Sarina Knights
"You... girl!" Tristaria had zero idea who this was, but she looked plain and in need of becoming machine; more importantly, she was close by! The makeover drones worked their magic on her too.

@Omega Redux
Pulling Omega closer, Tristaria stuck a ridiculous pose with her and shouted, "Behold the power of the Magia!"

...

Criiiinge.
She felt so stupid.
Plenty of time to die inside later, though.

Harveste was worried. She was worried about a lot of things. Sure, they were doing well- but her HP bar was depleting quickly as the swarm rushed at her with a vengeance like no other. For a moment, she was flailing to get the bugs off her. As she finally got away from the bugs, she got a message- one she was quick to reply to, even if it did take her a moment.

Harveste - @Hanno Futaba

I-I'm fine if we beat this thing. Otherwise, I'm pretty much toast. For now, just focus on doing your best, okay? And please be careful...

She blushed slightly, smiling, It was sweet of him to worry, but wasn't he in more danger than she was? Well, maybe not. She could only pray.

And with that, she went back to her supportive duties, singing a song that led to vines wrapping around more people- this time, with healing energy instead of strengthening. They disappeared into a mist of magic that would heal the people closest to them. Those people were @Lady N, @Vina Skysong, and @Sean Poteitoku.

A man fell into the depths below the world. He remembered that he had been struck... He hadn't expected a giant biological to serve as artillery along with everything else. He'd almost gotten out of the way on reflex, too. It seemed that he had been just too slow.

How ironic. He'd prided himself on how he could survive artillery beyond anyone else. He'd even bragged about it in the recent month. Perhaps it was his time. He had known this game was dangerous... but to think that he would meet his end in the very place which ignited his heart so long ago.

A face appeared within his sight. It asked of him,

4yNPp1B.png

Are you to concede your soul to this?

P4Lei0f.png

NO.

Joseph awoke. His consciousness clawed straight out of the darkness that his fading mind had created. He refused to meet an end like this. His heart thumped loud, his blood louder than any swarm that could ever scream, no matter how many millions of wingbeats were in the chorus.

There was no thought-action remained. His will and instinct carried him across the battlefield, a blur beyond what could be seen to the eye. A monster of the battlefield was born again, shattering the oppressive limbs that sought the deaths of many. A whirlwind blew, shattering the ranks of the swarm.

Each and every moment of this was killing him once again. His flesh gave, and his consciousness faded as the limits of the human body were made apparent.
Joseph fell. It was impossible for a human body to fight forever.

Once more face to face with his end, Joseph was asked,

4yNPp1B.png

Are you to concede your soul to this?

P4Lei0f.png

NO!

His soul gripped onto the nearest stray source of magic. It was that of healing, some warmness beheld in @Harukami 's hands, though any magic would have done for the desperate man. The body sewed together broken, chewed-up limbs as the soul gained sustenance from that which it took to survive by any means.

Joseph awoke, gun pointed towards the sky. He could barely move, but all one needed was a finger to defy even gravity... And he had an arm in tow.

"You... Will be the first to fall of us!"

He fired. Lead-antimony alloy struck cleanly through the center of the core. The orb... cracked.

Everyone! Nin Nin! We have identified the bug that is preventing the cannons from blasting off!

Elynn gleefully gathered @Kaede Hoshi @Bluebird @Cynna @Cleo Looker so they can see their work coming together to resolve the issues.

Hmm, hmm, hmm... I see. So because of 2.2*518x with a deviation of 1/2 the magical energy in the air is spinning the regurgitating coils too quickly and therefore we could not cool down the rearticulating spline until the moment of the shot...

Simple fix. Excelsior job, everyone. This should be an easy equation to solve. Let's get it working now.

(She adjusted her glasses.)

B-but... which person among us know how to use a cannon? Ecks Dee.

Nin, Elynn, and some of the other background characters turned and looked at the large man with the boom-boom on his hand down at the battlefield. @Brutus Dahlgren

Just copy him... I suppose... and pray it doesn't quadratically blow up in our faces...

And with that, the cannon preparation was complete.

New Action Available!

Use the Cannon

  • There are five cannons (0/5) count up.
  • Each cannon has a single shot, loaded up with the liquid version of Serenity Mist condensed in the form of a cannonball, which means it's only effective against the Kurungaar Mother.
  • To use a cannon, use the command: ?r burst S S # Serenity Cannon | Name | 550C9
  • Damage: after using a cannon, use this command ?r 1d4 # Cannon Explosion | Name | 550C9 on a 1, take 20 damage from the cannon exploding. You clearly did not cool down the rearticulating spline until the moment of the shot (narrator comment: you should be expelled from the MIT)
  • You are not vulnerable while using this.
  • After using a cannon, put this at the end of the other tally counts: Cannons Used (0/5)

Orbservation

Meanwhile, the assault on the ominous floating orb continued. By this point, the orb has grown a lot larger than before. A whistle scout noted that whenever the orb is hit by some kind of magical hindering skill (SP), the orb would wobble, dispelling tiny specks of smaller black orbs outward.

However, whenever the orb is hit with any kind of magical attacks (HP), cracks would appear. When they do, the Nullification condition in the attacker's UI would blink faster, according to the reports coming in.

As the lions led Pollux away from the now completed serenity cannons she looked around the battlefield, many bodies lay scattered after the Kurungaar's Orb blasted the living hell out of the landscape. Some slowly claimed back to their feet, but a few lay still, their lives now extinguished. Pollux activated her menu's investigation mode in order to pick out the names and health of those she could see.

@Jin, A swordsman that had been rescued from the depths of the Kurangaar Mother, they appeared to be covered in copious amounts of blood.
@Frey Elzeiros, Someone who had directed the brunt of the mother's rage unto themself and in return had blasted to near oblivion in exchange.
@Azykia, A small girl that was dedicating themself to protecting those around them while surfing on spirals.

Focusing on these three and their injuries, Pollux reached out with her magic to each of them in order to alter their respective time-flows. Blood that had been spilled was reversed, back through wounds that then closed, in precisely the way they had opened originally.

"Rewind"

Pollux now found herself beside the form of what had been or possibly still was @Caelia Etterni, although now they seemed to have been taken over by some sort of dark power. For some reason, standing beside this person gave her an idea.

"Hold on a moment, I'm going to try to put you closer to the Mother. This might get weird"

Up to this point, Pollux had only attempted to alter time in 1 dimension: forward and back. However, if she was right, it should theoretically be able to move people horizontally as well. In essence, this would align them with their position in an alternate timeline where they had decided to move somewhere else.

Naturally, this was all hypothetical, but it should be possible. All Pollux was able to do right now was guess how far she would need to push this woman's time-stream, It wasn't like she could see the other possible timelines.

"Temporal Realignment"

Caelia panted. Her body buzzed ever so slightly, and if she were to look, she'd see a black haze trailing over her skin. Strange red lines marbled the black coating. She didn't have time to look and marvel at the change, though. She had things to do.

And you won't do them alone.

That voice she'd heard earlier cooed to her softly, soothing her anxieties away as she stared down the Kurungaar Mother. Her fear was there, sure, but it was blanketed by something she couldn't quite explain. It was...nice.

She leaned into it more, allowing it more control. Caelia turned her head briefly as she heard @Omega Redux shouting at her, blinking as a pair of glasses were donned upon her face. Looking back at the orb above the Kurungaar, she could see intricate flaws in it, small chinks in its armor.

That was where she would target. Now, if only she could get closer...

Her head turned slowly as someone - @Pollux , though she didn't know her name - told her to wait for a moment. She stilled, magic crackling around her, and waited to see what the other would do. Suddenly, the world...tilted? No, that wasn't quite right.

One moment she was standing next to Pollux. Everything seemed to slow and yet move faster at the same time. She looked left and right, images of her allies blurring despite her keen vision thanks to Omega's glasses. She took a step forward, and -

- the next moment, she was much, much closer to the Kurungaar Mother. She didn't have time to shout a thank you or wonder how that had worked. Time returned to normal, the blurring images of her comrades fading back to normal as she looked up at the orb above the beast.

Things to do, things to do.

Caelia focused in hard on the orb, dark magic seeping from her altered form. The dark magic started to prod at the orb, needling in through the cracks in its facade and starting to force its structure to fall apart. She would pull it apart piece by piece if she had to. Her teeth grit a little as she struggled to get the grasp she wanted on the thing.

Let me try.

A soft sigh was the only indication of control being relented. Caelia took a metaphorical step back, allowing her unknown friend to step up in her place. The magic coming from her crackled with blue and purple light, dancing like lightning in a thunderstorm as it worked its way around the orb.

You're going to be a problem... So lets work on negating that, hm?

Her voice rang out in a strange distortion, her own and yet not quite hers. Like it had an overlay to it... She struggled to get a good grip on the orb, her fingers splayed in front of her as she tried to slowly rip it asunder. Come on, come on...

(muttered) You're a real bitch to deal with. Just fall apart already. I'm tired of this game!
