Red Fever (6)
Red Fever effects temporarily nullified
-35 HP from Legs Retal

Tottering along with the expedition through the jungle terrain, which only got rougher and rougher as the going got tougher and tougher, Ludmilla could only be thankful that she wasn't as short in stature as some of the other faerin that she saw alongside her.

That hunger. It reared its head again as she peered over the edge of the steppes that led to the object of this expedition; the demon corpse, as advertised, and a massive carrion-carving insect driven to suicidal gluttony by the fever palpably coursing through it. For all of a few seconds, Ludmilla looked on in awe, the first and only thought to cross her mind being a musing upon what demon flesh would taste like.

Then, the deep burning. It seared her eyes to just look at the thing, raw magic raising hairs across her entire body and clogging her throat with a lump the size and texture of a hot coal. Like inhaling a noseful of sparkling water, the deep burning. Yet, why did it make her salivate even more than before?

Just as Ludmilla regained her composure, her senses beginning to adjust to the magical influx, the spattered remains of the Kurungaar Queen's head launched out in a stark green-blue mess. Standing completely still like the immobile Queen, Ludmilla's countenance was frozen in the moment of surprise for a few seconds before she fell to the ground in a crumpled heap.

As the conflict began and the Travelers around her launched themselves into combat recklessly, Ludmilla laid in the dirt as if struck dead on the spot. She was in fact quite conscious and lucid, but as with a drug overdose, her systems had temporarily shut down in response to the surge of magic that had just rippled through the area. While others @Azykia seemed to take to it quite well, something about Ludmilla's body just didn't seem able to metabolise the stuff quickly enough.

The battle raged on. Some fell and others rose in their place. Seemingly near-comatose on the ground, Ludmilla was forgotten among the carnage. But not by the enemy.

As a swarm of rabid Fever Fliers descended upon the backline, @Sumire would find a division of insects bearing down upon her in a buzzing lance-like formation. It seemed that another soul would be lost to the tearing, scissoring jaws of the same things that had taken @Kamala Graham apart.

This time drenched in cyan bug-ichor, the figure of Ludmilla would rise before the surging swarm. At just about the last possible second before the insects ran right through her, Ludmilla raises a gloved hand and makes a motion akin to drawing a curtain.

A pitch-black rift to the cold vacuum of the cosmos is momentarily ripped into being in mid-air, swallowing the swarm that had more hunger than sense. However, as soon as that was over, Ludmilla didn't even spare a backwards glance at the person she had incidentally protected.

Her eyes were on something else as she too began descending the basin.

"Mine."

Within the stomach of the unholy beast, an encampment had been dug into the flesh. As promised, he had made the lives of the monsters within the Matriarch a living hell. And now, as reward, bright light shone onto him from above the inferno within which he had been trapped. It was time for Joseph to move.

The battlefield was not a place for those who were untrained. When necessity came, however, those who sought peace, those who sought justice, those who sought safety and those who wished to leave-all of these people would be thrown onto a battlefield that would not accommodate them.

For instance, those who sought to save lives on the battlefield, each in turn opening their backs to protect the weak.

For instance, those who stayed at a distance they thought to be safe from the hell of war, unknowing of the enemy's ability to strike out at the far away.

For instance, those who sought the center of the storm.

A volley of gunfire fended off a warding limb that was soon to break @Brutus Dahlgren 's spine in twain.

AND WHO WOULD PROTECT THOSE THAT PROTECT THE WEAK?

Oberon found peaceful passage, any weapon that could possibly pierce his guard now slashed in twain.

WHO WOULD SEEK TO MAINTAIN THE FRONT LINES?

WHO WOULD BE THERE TO DEFEND THOSE WHO WERE FORCED UPON THE BATTLEFIELD?

A monstrous form rose from the planks to swallow @Bluebird whole, an insect that had grown larger than the flies of the crawling swarm-or was it that something else had mutated into this? Mandibles bore down upon the noncombatant who was thought to be out of harm's way.

The crack of fire, clear and silver, rang through the incessant buzzing of the swarm. Descending onto the body of the fallen monster was a figure that Bluebird had not expected to see anymore-thought that he, in his rage, had been consumed by monstrosities within and around.

Here he was, all the same.

"THERE'S NO NEED TO FEAR-THE GUY IS HERE!"

Had his soul returned? He looked as a madman, red ichor and chitin falling from his plate, dripping from the holes in his mask in wretched sloughs. It was unclear how many had crawled over him before, yet none were there now. The voice was smooth and confident, the heart on full display for all to see. He had returned from the inferno with his soul intact, and none could take that from him.

A glance behind himself was made towards the supporting backline. "Sorry I kept you waiting! We're taking this beast down."

He leaped, the most reckless charge he'd ever made in his military career. As could be seen, he had a rope in his hands with which he was using to swing alone the Matriarch's body. The act was dangerous and sent him through the heart of the swarm, but he did not falter, instead throwing himself right into the battlefield where he belonged. Landing cleanly, THE GUY took a rolling stop behind Sumire so as to take advantage of her covering fire while he reloaded all of his weapons again.

Honestly.
Everyone had overreacted to her little 'ploy' of "freezing all of Isulus." It was common sense, but it wasn't like she was serious about doing it. It was no reason for people to yell and scream at her. Of course, she had stopped the spell before she broke too many things. She always had complete control of her magic at least 90% of the time.

Really the hostility since was entirely needed, even if she had perhaps bridged every so slightly beyond the line, surely they could place the blame purely on scarlet fever itself? There were a lot of people doing a lot worse things, and if they had a tenth of the raw magic power Megan held in her pinky, they'd probably be just as dangerous. Not that she was dangerous, but she had the potential to be. And people were jealous about that. That's all it was.

"That's all it is, your jealous of me!" She shouted at @The Guy who happened to be nearby her, and not at all involved in her inner monologue. She had been sulking since being yelled at earlier, following around the others, mumbling to herself as she rebuilt her fragile ego. It seemed, however, it had reformed, filling her tone full of bravado. So much so that she had failed even to notice the massive creature who had taken to noticing her yelling, much less its leg it sent slamming into the side of Megan and sending her tumbling backward.

Catching herself, she grit her teeth in rage as dark energy coursed through her, causing portions of her skin to turn black before flaking off entirely. "YOU DARE!" She screamed as corrupted magic trembled within her, "I'LL TURN YOU BACK INTO AN EGG I WILL!" But first thing was. First, she was undoing this annoying pain in her side? A broken rib? It didn't matter. The world around her bobbed and weaved as the smell of ozone suddenly became present in the air around her. Gone were all her wounds, but the spell kept going bouncing from Megan wildly around the battlefield, sending both Cyrus and Gideon's bodies backward in the timeline, removing previous injuries they had sustained.

Athena bent over at the waist, her arms covering her eyes as she tensed with pain. Even through her blindfold the sheer amount of magic in the air was enough to cause her significant pain. She gripped her sword in her arms, still cowering from the magic. She was expected to fight in this?

Then it hit her. Her eyes opened, and she slowly let her arms down, still wincing and looking through squinted eyes. If she couldn't take this, how would she ever be able to face Endra? Endra was a literal goddess, and if she couldn't stand the magic of a demon corpse, how would she ever look at her goddess? The thought horrified her. She didn't ever expect the opportunity to meet Endra face to face, let alone see her from afar, but if by some miracle it did happen she sure as hell wasn't going to miss it. This was practice for the future.

Her legs tensed and she dashed forward, one hand reaching behind her to cast a divine blessing of protection on @Harukami . Athena figured that the weak were the most important things to protect here, and the cute, clumsy woman definitely fell into that category. Her other hand swung forward with her sword, the sheath smacking heavily into the body of the Kurungaar Mother as the fever fliers formed back around her, digging into her exposed arms.

Avery didn’t know where she was going, but she knew she was following @Harlow, who was following Kiryuu, who was leading the way. As far as she could tell, no one else left camp when they did. It was dark. Harlow was a good distance in front of her, so much to the point that he might not have even known she was there. Avery was okay with being a little behind as long as she didn’t get lost.

Once they arrived at the crater, Harlow and Kiryuu dove right in. Avery, on the other hand, positioned herself at the outskirts. She sat, crossed her legs, plugged her left ear, and closed her eyes. The atmosphere was tense, and she could tell something would be happening soon. Fear of the unknown was compelling, but it would be less so when she was in her element. This was just a videogame, and she was a player. Even if Avery’s strong suit was never in the first-person genre, there were ways she had learned to even the odds.

Stars, show me what you see.

After a while, Avery felt her mind rise above the battlefield until she could see the crater from above. A bird’s eye view. This is what she was used to. After all, MOBAs were her area of expertise. By that point, the battle had begun, with reinforcements arriving, and the explorers being freed. She scanned the area from her vantage point, looking for the place where her talents might be most useful. She noticed a currently unknown @Frey Elzeiros receiving a significant amount of damage. They were one of the braves who chose to taunt, so their received damage would only be getting worse. That was her spot.

Suddenly, she felt a sting that interrupted her concentration. Her consciousness collapsed back into her body, and she looked over to see she was being attacked by a single, pesky insect. She took one of her arrows and swung at the pest. “Die, idiot! I was in the middle of something!” Soon, she was able to kill the creature. Then, she drew a specially selected arrow from her solution-filled quiver, before she scanned the area for her intended target. Visibility was scarce, but the starlight lit the path ahead, and she soon found him. Eyes closed, bowstring drawn, arrow wedged, Avery whispered, “Guide my arrow”. Then she shot.

The arrow soared, guided by the amateur's prophecy, until it landed in her target’s arm. The potion the arrowhead was soaked in was one of her first learned recipes. It was made specifically to nullify the pain of getting shot with the arrow, as well as heal over the damage it dealt, before working towards remedying other preexisting injuries.

She was a little nervous, though, because this was the first person she used these on. No time like the present to test them out though, right? Now that she thought about it, it was a little risky that she decided to sign each arrow.

Futile.
Darkness.
Seigi found herself afloat in a vast expanse of nothingness.
Her body, numb. Her mind, broken.

Abs̨ol͘u̸t̢ely̕ fut̢ile͠.
Somewhere out there, she was still being eaten alive.
Somewhere out there, the war was still raging on.
Somewhere out there, more pain and suffering.
But here? Serenity. She was safe. She was secure.

W̨ha͏t mo̴re͏ c̵an ̸y͞o͟u҉ do,҉ o͜h ҉P̢urif̷ie̵r ̸o͠f͞ D͏ìs̡so̧n̷a̶n͢c̛e͟.͘

"Raina...!"

No more pain. No more regret. She could rest and let go.
For the first time, in forever, all she had to do was close her eyes.
No more voices. No more thoughts.

Şurr̵e̸ndȩr ́y͡o̴urs̡el͘f͢ ̷to͢ us̨.
So why was it, that she still seemed to... hesitate?
Su͝r̸rend̷er͏ yo͟úr͢se̡ĺf͞ ҉to m͟e̢.

S͞urr͢e̛n͜de͠r ͡y̡o̵u̢rsel̵f҉ to ỳ̸҉ó̴͢͝ư̴̕͝.̛͢͡
Why was it, that she still wanted to keep fighting?

"Raina...!"

A crack in the ceiling. A singular ray of light. The warmth of those she'd leave behind.
Too many to count. Too much to abandon. So many expectations to meet. So much more fun to be had.

...
"Our Happy Ending is another castle, you silly _____!"
Right. How could she have forgotten? There was still so much more left to do. So many more bonds to create.

"Ehehehe..."

Stupid. Just absolutely stupid.
The darkness around her shattered.
So friggin, absolutely, dumb!
Her senses returned.
Indeed, how could she have forgotten?

No matter how often she'd get beaten.
No matter how often she'd be killed.
No matter how often she'd fall.
She was a hero...

So be it, our time will come...

Ignite!

"... AND A HERO WILL ALWAYS RISES UP AGAIN, STANDING! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" She cried on top of her lungs as the rescue team broke through, to rescue them! Just, happy, to be herself again. "You're absolutely right!" She spoke to @Frey Elzeiros as he enchanted her with a third eye.

"How could I have lost sight of the most essential? It's not about what I am, but what I make out of it! Thanks!" Looking up from inside the belly of the beast, she could see the very same light from before. It was only thanks to the combined efforts of @Bradwynne @Hanno Futaba @Bonnie Bonbon and many more! "You did good... plenty of Guts and Effort!" Seigi smiled, as Brad's Angel carried her higher and higher.

Once Seigi was finding herself on top of the Broodmother she had no time to be struck by awe! Even Titanius didn't have so many people. Shaking her head, she nodded. This was now not broody-insecure Seigi. But Seigi-Seigi!

Thus, amidst the blood-stained battlefield, she raised her fist up in the air. Not caring if anyone even paid attention. "And now, our Spirit shall pierce the heavens." Engulfing herself in a slightly-tainted Battle Spirit Aura, she started a running jump. Pressing her body against the monstrous head, triggering a battle-spirit-fueled explosion to go up! In the sky, she met @Lady N "You rang? Nice to meet you here!" A thumbs-up, a wink, another explosion: Seigi came crashing down again.

Like a live projectile, aiming for the head. A blazing sun, crashing down. This was it.

"STRAIGHT FROM THE SUNSET SAGE OF SEVEN STRIKES." There was still someone...
"THE 'WHAT DO YOU CALL A BUG BETWEEN A ROCK AND A FIST'-STRIKE" Someone she wanted to protect...
"DELIVERED BY YOURS, TRULY!" For he had always protected her...

"THE ANSWER: —"
It was now her turn.

"SQUASHED!"
Coming down next to Cain.

"Taaaddaaa~~!" A small punch kick. The big one would come after. Moving back-to-back to her ever-standing Moon, she asked:

"ARE YOU READY?"

It felt like she was taking her first breath.

As soon as the bottle left her lips, Alkaid gasped, half-choking as though she'd been submerged for so very long. The first glint of light in a maelstrom of madness, the grasping hands of sadness attempting to drag down into darkness, the flashes of anger and joy attempting to obliterate any sense of reason.

But they'd held on. Those who could still stand, at least. And as her senses drank deep, feet moving unconsciously as she was half-dragged from that fever pitch, her voice came out with a scratchiness that, with a hand soon closed round to inspect her throat, matched its condition, "Who…?" Alkaid started hoarsely, head turning to cough away from her rescuer, @Nai.

"Er, thank you, rather. I should be able to mange from here, though." With a deep inhale, she flexed her fingers, a light glow briefly bathing her frame as she took a deep breath, ethereal magic and newfound strength surging through her. "I think I'm good to try to see if I can keep some these crazy fucks alive long enough to get back safe."

With a nod, she looked up to check her savior's name, just in case they were looking to impress the big shots. Her deck of cards floated up next to her, a few seeming to fly out with a will of their own.

Alkaid ran as quick as she could, aeromancy sending her bounding with each step as she did her best to survey the battlefield from on up high. A discordant symphony formed from shouts and weapons drawn, lander and player alike struggling down below. And but seconds later, although few might notice it by the legs one adventurer's disregarded companion rose from its own short, fallen form, imbued with a newfound energy.

(Jingle. Jangle). Save for this one sound, the spirit is otherwise silent. It looks up at you, @Madison Freebird, as if drawn by an unspoken bond, a phantasmal tweed still stuck within its mouth. Its expression...approving?

If nothing else, it stands as a sentry, an extension of her influence down below if needed.

Surging forward, Alkaid caught sight of @Jin, raven hair now a stark white, his sword unleashed into an instrument of power. A sharp reminder for this beast that it wasn't the only thing present eager to consume. For him, who was so writhed with energies whirling inward, she instead focused on the beast he was cutting into, feeding what spiritual energy leaked from it into the sword's wielder in a manner that appeared almost certainly vampiric.

And lastly, although she almost certainly could spot Stripperella up there with their starry banner, there was another figure she recognized up by the creature's head that could use a little love.

Alkaid drew one of her cards, molding one of her summons into the only partner she could imagine fitting for such a thing.

It was not flight, not truly. But the way @Rook the Quick danced through the air, it might as well have been.

So when a spectral, glittering mockingbird joined him at his side, flying around in a small circle, she liked to think it might've looked all the more otherworldly to any onlookers. A little spice and personal thanks for the show.

She stood her ground, even as the ground sundered amidst the wave of magic and violence. The stench of blood, bugs and decay was almost intolerable, but she did not waver. A pool of still water was often host to corruption. The water festers and death accumulates at the bottom, like a slowly creeping disease. The best course of action, was to wash everything out and begin anew.

Sumire channeled, from the bottom of her hear, and drew upon powers she could scarcely understand. It was terrifying, the first few times, but now she just accepted that some things were beyond her comprehensions. It didn't really hold her back anyways. Ludmilla managed to just... consume a whole mass of bugs that were headed her way. In the place of the bugs, instead of the chittering and skittering she expected was a just an empty void. She took a slow step backwards away from the girl and void of space. This was different from the usual hollowness that came with the Mirror Pool, it felt wrong. She would be immodestly walking away from the girl in any other scenario, but with their backs to the wall, she welcomed someone who fought with all their being. There was no way the magia was voluntarily stepping towards Ludmilla though.

She turned her attention to a few who decided to stay and fight. They were hurting, no doubt drained from their imprisonment and the scars of battle, yet they stood up to fight. She couldn't run away, not now. At random, or perhaps under the guidance of destiny, a mirror of water appeared above them and a shimmering reflection of Theria, The Guy and Tyr at their side. Watery facsimiles of blades and wands glowing with a magic, the doubles stood ready to take their place should a foul fate befall them.

The last time he felt something absurd to his senses was the Corpse Worm Queen.

No.

This time the monstrosity before him was much different. It truly offended him. Every fiber of his being screamed that this pathetic bug did not deserve to live.

He took a step forward, eyes focused on the next queen he had to take down. With that, another step, followed by yet another until he was in a full on run with his spiritual magic erupting around him in its blue fire like state. Though he did not reach the size of Childress's phantasm of the Beastlord himself, Alonso in the heat of a true battlefield was a beast in his own right, growing even wider and taller. A musclebound warrior who only emphasized that even more, his cyan hair and bear elongated into his mane that flowed around him.

The man's vocals were rumbling growls so deep they might as well been a demon's. Filled with so much determination that he tunnel visioned towards of the head of the monster standing in the Starcalleds' way. Seeing others fight on through despite their own suffering such as @Ilya proved he needed to take a stand.

Not just for one person, however. He needed to protect those around him, even if it means demolishing his foes into a flattened bodies and becoming a savage brute. The existence of familiar faces around him fueled his goal of conquest even further, not wanting to let down those such as @Seto Kurama , @Toko , @Ueno Mizuki , @Bonnie Bonbon , and even those he barely knew like @Corsair .

With a furious roar, and a speed that far contrasted his massive frame, the lion made a huge leap towards the queen's face, ignoring any offhand attacks and smaller insects slamming and slashing fierce into his body. "YOU ARE," Alonso snarled, soaring from below with an uppercut before spitting out, "NOTHING BUT WORTHLESS PREY!" He contorted his body around as he came to the peak of his jump, coming down with his other fist to slam into his target.

This was who Alonso Thorlion was in this world. He was the Beastlord Champion with a fury he felt little need to hide in the midst of true combat.

Upon witnessing the monster's rebirth and withstanding it's horrifying powerful shockwave, his eyes remained focused on the beast, his conviction unshaken even as It let out let a terrifying screech, signaling the beginning of the battle. He stood at the edge of the massive crater yet remained still, examining the monstrosity as It fought to defend itself from the legions of players that had carelessly dived into the massive crater to fight it. Soon enough, the air was engulfed with the sounds of the dying, the cracking of weapons, the sonic boom of explosions, and of course, the demonic beast's own swarms of festering flies that were now flooding the battlefield but atlas, despite all that, he still stood there, undeterred from doing battle. If anything, It had the opposite affect. There was no fear in his eyes. With pulses of adrenaline being pushed through his veins, he felt himself at peace, even as the horror's of war took place all around him. This is where he belonged.

In spite of this revelation however, after his eyes had watched numerous forms of combat being played out, It quickly became apparent to him normal attacks would do little against such a beast. This caused a sigh under his breath, wanting to join the fray and coordinate with the others to take that monster down but he was left with little choice. He have to do the same as he did before, when they fought that mutated king ape but this time? Given that thing's durability, he would have to muster every scrape of energy within every fiber of his being. He give the excess energy to his two companions whom had already joined the battle. Immediately closing his eyes, he temporarily removed himself from reality as his conscious began delving into the depth's of his own body. Using his mastery over time itself, he near instantaneously gathered all the energy he could muster from his body but in doing so, he ended up causing more damage to his body as droplets of blood began to drip down from his lips. With everything in hand with his laser like focus still intact, he quickly changed the nature and shape of his energy before immediately rupturing it to the surface, triggering the ground beneath him to give out as the condensed energy within his body suddenly exploded outwards, engulfing his entire body in a intense veil of electricity. When he finally opened his eyes, thick streams of vicious thunder began surging outward in all directions.

Now radiating with pure energy, he knew he was ready to unleash his next attack but before that, as his body was sending out strong pulses of electricity every few moments, he needed to transfer the excess energy into his two companions. Looking for his companions, @Ueno Mizuki and @Alonso Thorlion, his eyes scoured the battlefield until he saw the two doing their best to aid in the battle. Gritting his teeth, trying his upmost to control all the energy within and around his body, he roared towards the two from his spot.

ALONSO! MIZUKI! I NEED YOU TWO UP HERE NOW!

Coughing up some blood with a smirk, he kept his eyes on the battle as he awaited the arrival of his tow companions. When they would finally arrive, still keeping to his smirk, he would give the two a nod to follow in besides him before slamming the palms of his hands onto their shoulders, transferring a moderate amount of energy into their bodies, enhancing the raw output of their power just long enough for one final attack. As a side effect, this trigged an aura similar to his own to engulf the two. Once he was finished, he grinned.

Listen up! I'll make a opening than you two do what you do best. Good luck!

Standing with the group on the edge of the demon corpse's crater, Pollux was suddenly hit by a blast of magical energy and knocked off her feet. Something with that much blowback was surely bad news, which was made extra evident by frantic orders being shouted by Childress as well as other players.

Pollux had intended to assist with the rescue of the explorers, but by the time she had risen back to her feet after the blast, a group of players had already lept into the giant bug demon thing and released the captured whistles who were now also battling the kurrangar mother.

Given that there wasn't really anyone else to rescue, Pollux looked around frantically for some way to help before spotting members of the MIT constructing what appeared to be cannons. Whatever they could use to fight back she supposed. running over to where they were being constructed, Pollux helped move some of the remaining pieces that had been left on the ground into place with her astramancy,

Cycle 9
Your Death March in April

The bloody battle raged on as the demon-ruined matron was assaulted from all angles. Each side trading blows equally. Though, through sheer tenacity and teamwork, the Astorean expedition, did in fact, come out on top as their attack on the head distracted the insect giant from retaliating against the team that targeted the back and the legs.

More than a handful of the people who attempted to hinder the matron's legs ended up getting crushed by its furious stomps and deadly tail sweeps, some of you were among them. Painful as it was, your efforts did end up felling the titan, who smashed into the center of the cone pit with an earth-shaking slam, turning the mud-slurry into a tidal wave that radiated outward in all directions, slattering anyone within range with mud, blood, and guts.

With the matron's body collapsing onto the ground, the swarm of Fever Fliers dispersed as though a hornet's nest had been disturbed, forming a massive death cloud before they flew out in every which way, shooting into things and people like a chitting bullet, abandoning any self-preservation to protect the main body. Not even the fever can overwrite these insects' core programming. The colony provides, and soldiers are to throw their lives away to protect it—everyone had a part to play.

While the swarm kept the attackers occupied, the matron let out a bone-chilling cry, silencing the thunder and the sounds of the ongoing battle.

Ś̵͖͓K̷̩̥͂R̴̠̊̚H̷̡̍E̵̤̾̎E̵̙̰̽E̴̟̥̕̚-̶͍́̉E̷͕̋ͅE̷͙͂E̵͔͠-̴̢̋̒E̶̢͕̊͗É̴̠̥̉E̵͔̬̅-̸̭̌̾E̸̡̫͒Ȩ̵̳͆É̸̜͓͠-̶̯̥͊E̷͉̓E̴̼̖̚E̵͓͒̓-̸̳͊E̷̢͇̿͛Ẻ̷͚̼̕Ȩ̷̘͆

With the heavy set of arms, the Kurungaar Mother lifted its body from the mudveil as it locked eyes with the ones who had volunteered to take the blame for the matron's fall. Using every functioning neck muscle it had left, the matron lifted its face to the sky.

It took seconds before a black orb began forming above its head as sparks of red lighting crackled across its smooth surface. As the orb quickly grew in size from the condensed energy, the red lightning formed a bridge between the orb and the ground. The battlefield grew darker as the matron drained some energy from the glowing vortex to power its attack.

The moment the matron lowered its head, the sphere followed and lingered in front of its face for less than a split second before transforming into a death beam that cut across the battlefield, passing over each and every one of those who had taunted the matron.

The vile energy tore the air asunder. Anyone unfortunate enough to stand in the way of the moving beam would have been instantly vaporized like the raindrop that evaporated seconds before the beam passed over them.

The public execution began for the taunters (@Moonsong, @Asher, @Frey Elzeiros, @Ilya, @Sol, and @The Guy) who could not withstand the blow. A different fate awaited @Shane, who was, in fact, not in the path of the attack.

While the attack concentrated on the brave souls who taunted the matron, the beam passed over the entire squad of attackers in a swift move that may have turned the tide of battle. With the beam flattening at least half of the cone, everyone was frantically assessing the damage done. Others, meanwhile, were in a frenzy to locate their missing allies or what was left of them after the devasting beam.

Order would have collapsed entirely had it not been for the likes of the Lion leaders: Levi and Misha; the whistles: Childress, Feodan, and Arlynl; and the lone Guild representative together with Kiryuu and a very displaced Chad taking charge of what they could, gathering what allies they could to deliver the coup de grâce on the death titan if fate would take kindly on them.

Misha! Take your team and escort the support now.

The calm and collected knight leader quickly took charge of the situation and began to organize the surviving lions to focus entirely on protecting the supports, escorting them through the battlefield to heal the injured and raise the dead.

Right away, commander! (She formed a fist and put it on her heart.)

Ehe! You heard the commander, no pay for this month unless we work hard!

(To which many of the lions stopped and thought to themselves '…but we don't even get paid…' Heroism was difficult, indeed.)

The whistles, meanwhile, had already begun planning the assault on the immobile matron. Feodan and Arlyn shot a magical flare into the sky to amass a strike team that would head into battle. They weren't suicidal, however. Childress was already thinking ahead about how she and her team could open a path for the rest of the assaulting group to make it through without losing too many people to the thrashing matron and the swarm that would rip a person apart the moment they get too close.

I... I can't, Chad. Not like this. Not without my cat...

(...)

OOOOOOOH NOOOOOOOOOOO! NOT WITHOUT MY CAT! THIS AIN'T IT, BABYCHAD! (he ducks below an arm sweep.)

HANG ON, BROTHER-MAN. WE CAN DO THIS! SHE'S WAITING FOR YOU BACK AT THE CAMP!

...You don't understand. THERE'S NO WAY I - UGHAHLDTGL--!! (an unidentified flying object suddenly crashed against the king, and he dramatically rolled back as he caught it.)

As he lay there and pondered the meaning of life while recovering from the sudden impact, he could see a familiar shape flying past them. While he couldn't hear her from such a distance, the fact he could somewhat make out her voice amidst the chaos meant it could only be Regan. The king's eyebrows furrowed as he sat and up and looked below, and on his arms was...

A doll. Marvelous goldilocks drills adorned her head, and the ever grumpy visage kicked the king's engine into high gear again. The joint radiance of @Cynna's forehead and Trevis' grin shone upon the matron's face like the stars above, acting as a nod back to @Regan.

OOOOOOHAH! INDEED, BABYDOLL! OUR GOLD IS THE COIN THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEA --- UGHJALKSFLK!-- (and yet again, he rolled across the ground, this time pulled by a spectral chain.)

If you've got the energy to be shouting like that, then help me over here!!

...

Meanwhile, Chad watched the scene unfold, speechless. His mighty shoulders deflated as the king was dragged away, his efforts thus far crumbling before him like a cookie,

... Nyan?

A safe distance away from the half-flattened cone…

Horrid insects.

This was the mathematicians' first time seeing so many insects and an attack so powerful it nearly wiped out the frontliners as well…

To be brought out here like this. It wasn't what she was built for, to say the least. Yet even if she was uncomfortable with it, the numbers led her here, and they would lead everyone to victory. She did not doubt that even after witnessing the beam divide the fighting force in half and change the geometry of the cone pit. Regardless, she concentrated on the highly unique task she and her junior peers had been charged with.

"Nin Nin! We're almost ready! Where does this go? Once I finish up some maintenance on the directional turret, we just need the bombs, and it'll be coo-coo for cocoa puffs!!

Nin's thoughts were interrupted by Elynn, but she didn't even scold her over the nickname this time. This time there was not even a millisecond for such division. The preparations had come along nicely. It was time to see how it all added up!

"Yes, excellent! We do not need bombs. It's already fully loaded Elynn.

(Nin smiled, ignoring the fact they were in the middle of a bug-infested hellscape for a moment.)

The mind has not yet finished with this red menace! All of these insects are now set for deletion! Haha! I never doubted the sum for a moment.

Nin's eyes looked upon the flowing substance within the Serenity Cannon. This was... not the safest measure by a long shot, but they had no choice, and this would also assist Nin's future research. However, they had to survive this first. No matter the negatives!

"@Kaede Hoshi @Corsair @Fiora Di Angelo @Celestine, and @Pollux! 14000 divided by 2 is not an acceptable quota. The time has come to show the power of the Serenity Cannon! We have to gather others to fire it. The mixture within this is a far more volatile mix of the mist used on us. It will be extremely hazardous if we misfire and take quite some energy even to use...

(She adjusted her glasses as her voice became slightly shaky)

Overuse could be fatal. So please only one addition from all who take the controls.

The makeshift Serenity Cannons were complete, five of them in fact, allowing anyone with a modicum of aim to deal considerable damage to the enraged matron. The only problem was…

Critical Failure
1

The cannons were broken because of the concentrated energy that had resulted from the nasty attack. The MIT was going to have to put their head together again to troubleshoot before the cannons can be used.

"Oh my god! It's a bug! We're all going to dieeee!"

(Elynn panicked when she realized what had happened.)

Deep within the matron's backfold was @Shane, who had lost any semblance of shape. It was difficult to tell where the boundary of her physical form stopped, and the matron's began. The glowing girl was no longer fully herself, capable of muddled thoughts, yet incapable of speech or action, a monument to the hubris of man who think they can master the unknowns. Reminiscing was about the only thing she could do as she awaited her terrible fate.

With everything going on at once, the matron lifted its head again and expelled a massive black orb from its mouth. The orb, which took the shape of the attack from earlier, floated up about 100 feet above it, slowly collecting the visible radiance of the magical vortex that had provided light for the battle up until now. Anyone within or without the conal recess could feel the subtle movement of winds being sucked into the orb, which began to amass in size.

Combat Objectives

The Kurungaar Mother has been fell and is immobile on the ground, allowing you a chance to deal the finishing blow. However, the moving limbs can crush while the Fever Fliers are shooting toward any attacker like a bullet ready to cut them like a razor blade and burrow in the wound to inflict massive damage.

  • Bonuses: you may add any that apply to you
    • +10 from Serenity Mist

Red Fever effects temporarily nullified (last cycle)
-15 HP from Map Damage

-30(/2 because I know a protected is coming) from Finisher Normal

The battle raged on all around them. Zelrius was the first into the offensive, staring down the enemy creature with blue eyes as orange and red flames raged all around them. Engulfing the head for a moment, and locking his form in a veritable storm of fire and cinder. He was testing the Kurungaar mother - seeing if she was strong enough to withstand his full force.

Trial By Fire.

She withstood the test, not much to his surprise, but to his grimace. The man braced with his two weapons for a moment, ready to take whatever she had. Before the side of her face got slammed by a wide shot from a devastating canon. Zelrius turned his head just in time to see @Brutus Dahlgren providing Cover fire, and intense, morale support. Not a moment too soon either, as @Toko and @Ilya flew directly past him. It was a shit storm of people in the moments that followed. Surrounding the mother, fighting off the bugs. He could see @Sol and @Frey Elzeiros withstand the oncoming beam from the taunts. Hayate with his arrows delivering a string of perfectly accurate shots. His friend @Moonsong toward the back of the legs, risking her life to draw its attention. She was a real hero, just like Brutus. Just like @Hyakin Heliodoros and @Asher. People who were born for these moments.

The blonde man wasn't, but he wasn't exactly about to let them down. To become a page in someone else's book. Through it all, he couldn't hear @Harveste request for him to hold on a second. But, he cold feel it. Power beginning to fill his veins. His legs tightening, arms feeling like rolls of corded steel as the buff Surged up his spine, to the back of his head, and washing all over. It was now, or never. This creature was his own test in a way. He couldn't be stopped now. The company that followed Childress, Feodan, and Arlyn had led the way. Slicing through the bugs, and mass of insect meat, clearing the path for those who were to close this fight. But first, before making his mad dash, he'd need to get his damage dealing terror of a friend @Hayate closer. Swiping him up to take the man with him on his approach, and dropping him off close by.

He was single minded in his approach now. Using the speed from his Dynamism attributes to weave through the other bodies, to close the distance, and put a hand on its head in between the shots of Brutus.
"BURN!" he commanded it again, this time not giving it much choice in the matter. The palm of both his hands finding a flat portion of its head and focusing all of his pyromatic energy into one spot. Before pulsing it forward in wave after wave. Blasting the creature directly with a concentrated stream of fire, and his own sweat. Stealing its own idea of a finishing move for himself.

"You bring the Thunder!" Zelrius shouted out to @Brutus Dahlgren from across the battlefield. The intensity of the adrenaline, his own shaking limbs getting him excited. Drowning the feelings of self doubt for a moment to have an splash of heroic teamwork with his newfound friend. Just as the words spoke, Zelrius kicked up to hit under the mother's jaw, the end of his shoe adding a flaming explosion to knock it upward, and leave it wide open for a direct shot from the cannon wielding mountain of confidence and S rank masteries.

+60 to roll from @Trissayne Lavelle buff in C8

Not for the first time; but for the first time in a long time, Madison heard the voices.

"Very tricky, little raven. Very tricky indeed."

Under normal circumstances, the voices were very calming. Very soothing. With all the shit happening around her--all the buzzing, the screaming, the exploding--well... These obviously weren't normal circumstances. But they still sharpened her focus.

Madison was busy cramming a fistful of bullets into her rifle. The revolvers weren't going to do jack shit here. At least the added heft and the necessity of both hands to wield it allowed her to crush some of the flying pests with the butt of the gun. Which, of course, she was doing enough that she'd be lucky to escape the day with a severe case of tennis elbow.

The voices took a thoughtful moment to themselves. They had plenty to spare, after all. "Perhaps that giant floating thing needs to go," they said. "Don't you think?"

"If it explodes, we're probably all dead." Another of the swarming insects went crunch with a swing of her rifle. "We're probably all dead anyway; but extra super dead."

"We agree. Here, let us help--"

Before Madison could object, she felt the ghostly hands press against the side of her head, wrapping around her wrists and arms, and gently resting on her shoulders. Guidance from beyond the grave. The gunslinger felt control of her limbs wrested from her; a horrifying experience the first time it happened, but now just mildly uncomfortable more than anything. She learned pretty quick that possession usually goes a little smoother if you just wiggle your butt on over to the passenger seat for five seconds.

She fell to one knee, and raised the rifle up. The colors of the world ebbed away to muted, pale grays and stark blacks as Deadeye kicked in. Before her, hovering a hundred feet in the air, was a big screaming ball of crimson.

Her vision blurred, her eyes rolling up into the back of her skull as the ghosts haunting her pulled the trigger.

The scar on her left palm throbbed with pain as thunder and fire erupted from the barrel of her rifle.

And as she regained control of her body, she heard only the hollow chuckles of the voices. "This time, it's on the house."

For a bitter moment, she knew they would collect twice as much the next time she called upon them.

Yep, Kaede figured someone would mess things up in all the chaos and she was glad it was not her as she staggered around to the cannon she had been working on with a slightly annoyed look across her face. She was a doctor-in-training not a engineer or medieval expert so this whole thing made all of no sense to her and nothing in her mind could even give her a rough guess how it worked. So she did all she could think of and just assumed it happened within the last few minutes and Chronomancy could help.

Hands reaching outward as the golden circle formed and began to dome around the cannon and started to disassemble it until Kaede could see something that was clearly not right and stop it there. Once someone pointed out the issue she would drop the spell and allow things to fall slowly to the ground and moved to the next cannon leaving reassembly to the people who know about it. She would only nod towards @Celestine for what was said prior as she focused on work.

To be honest part of her figured she would be better on the front lines but with no idea when the mist would ware off so she did not wish to risk her mind slipping to hostile to all where people already had been struggling to fight the monster. That said she would wave her hand to form a smaller Chrono orb around some fliers and accelerate them out of the issue as she reached the next cannon and repeated the go back a step process. However as she ended up mostly breaking the cannon back to the start she reset it and decided it would be better to just defend the area.

Turning her focus forward as she drew her staff and began setting defensive time traps and zone haste around the cannons to make the work faster. They needed the extra support to keep this from dragging out much longer and if it cost her a few more years it was fine as Elves had plenty more then humans would and she did not feel like going to granny years after all she did.

As much as the dissonant force slaughtered the Kurungaar song, it would not be enough. It would take a while for Oberon to realize this much. It was merely a matter of the instruments pit against each-other. One was much too small to drown out the noise of another.

As much as he hated it, Oberon was not able to stop the tide of this endless music. Not alone. He needed the hand of the very thing that had felled him in the past... The hand of heroes.

How he hated them-yet he saw that who which resonated with him most deeply. Up in the sky...

Seiigi.

Cain.

Why did he know their names so clearly? When had they spoken so deeply that they were ingraved so deeply behind his eyes that he could not forget their souls? Could it be that they had something to do with the whole that he was once a part of? Were they truly once a part of the elegy-of 'Titania'?

Pikes arose from the ground, from deep wounds in the Matriarch's flesh and from his heart. He did not have long. Oberon could only afford to be 'invincible' against the advances of the Kurungaar for so long-he was destroying himself faster than he could propagate.

"In your hands... I leave this road."

The weapons innumerable flew. Many struck the warding limbs of the Kurungaar. Others whirled in dissonant synchronity, together forming a great tunnel in which the influence of the horde died away. It was a path that he lay forward for others to take. The way to the Matron's face was wide open.

"GO! DESTROY THE FOUL SONG, HEROES!"
Before it was too late.

Despite the screeching pain he felt throughout his body, his mind was that of a fortress, having grown accustomed to resist the sensation It provided, but that was no surprise for somebody like himself whom had seen their fair share of combat. As such,, with few, brief exceptions, he was able to ignore it, almost in it's entirely in fact as he looked over his shoulders towards @Ueno Mizuki and @Alonso Thorlion whom were standing besides him. Wiping the streams of blood that was running down his cheek with his clenched fist, he kept up his mischievous grin as he hollered towards the two to begin their assault.

TIME TO FINISH IT! LETS GO!

Nodding hard for his two companions to follow, he immediately materialized Murasama into his hands before he charged directly for the monstrosity that was the cause of all this. Using his blazing speed to catch up to Chad, Trevis and the others attacking the Kurungaar Mother head on in an attempt to finish it, he immediately dug his boots in the ground, gritting his teeth in the process. Once Mizuki and Alonso closed enough of the distance, he immediately snapped his head into their direction.

MAKE SURE TO SYNC UP!

Switching his attention back on Kurungaar Mother whom were thrashing his allies, he quickly sent all his remaining energy into his hands first than his blade second, causing his blade to take on a similar aura to his own. Once he was ready however and his allies near in range for their own attacks, he forced his blade to tear through the air.

❰ Maximum Reality Slashes ❱

Soaring through the air at blinding speeds, Murasama spun in all directions towards the Kurungaar Mother, triggering a series of powerful "slashes" to scream forth toward the Kurungaar Mother from the edge of his blade but as they did, as If they had a mind on their own, they began crossing each other as they raced toward their opponent, causing his slashes to take on the vague appearance of a "X". Before they hit their mark however, with one hand free, he immediately opened a white portal in their trajected path, so when the slashes would fly into them, they would be transported to his pocket dimension where they would be held in place just long enough for what the three were planning. When Mizuki and Alonso were seconds away from making their moves, he would yell out towards the two in an attempt to get their attention.

STAY SHARP! TWO OPENINGS COMING UP!

Giving them their warnings that he was about to make a opening for the two of them, he would wait patiently until they drew in close to the Kurungaar Mother to launch an attack themselves. Once they were in position, ready to attack, he would either time the opening of his portals with the beginning of their attacks as to make a opening for them to attack the monster's most weakest area's or he launch open a portal at the last second, as to ensure his companion would do as much damage as they could. Once they were done with their initial attack sweep, he open one last portal and let the last of his slashes loose on the Kurungaar Mother's head, hoping to inflict as much damage as humanly possibly.

It's not good. The gigantic insect is firing a beam and it's coming this way. Judging by the power level it would obliterate her into nothing if it hits. Moonsong had no choice but to use the gigantic cosmic cleaver to block it. "Come on, move." She tried to move the massive weapon in front of her with magic, but it was too taxing and slow. It was the spirits that @Ash Vargold sent that helped her move it barely enough to block the beam attack, head on.

This kind of attack will not defeat her. Her power is beyond this.

Cracks appeared in the colossal greatsword, before it finally exploded, sending Moonsong tumbling down to the ground in dust and smoke. Laying upwards with eyes closed, she appeared to be unresponsive. Although not physically wounded at all, the damage that the beam caused to the summoned weapon depleted most of her magical core, which is as fatal as losing blood.

Every day, every night
I've been thinkin' back on you and I
Every day, every night

Her mouth mumbles what sounded like lyrics. As she continued, Moonsong gradually recovered her energy, opening back her glowing, fiery eyes.

I worked my whole life
Just to get right, just to be like
"Look at me, I'm never coming down"
I worked my whole life
Just to get high, just to realize
Everything I need is on the
Everything I need is on the ground

With undying rage, the Cosmic Songstress screamed her note, echoing all across the battlefield and got back on her feet, stronger than ever before. Summoning a starcalled greatsword, she glides with it as if surfing through the swarm of enemies, rushing straight into the Kurungaar Mother, coming just behind @Zelrius and cutting down the incoming swarm like chainsaws with her flying blades. "That kind of attack wouldn't kill me!" She shouted to Zelrius, smiling. "We still have bigger things to do! And this weak insect ain't it!"

For Omega, the world narrowed. As the big ugly boss monster was taking a beating, all Omega could see were her glasses. How they perfectly fitted onto @Cynna. "Perfection!" Just to be stolen away by Trevis-aka-Belvis @mina* @Asch! HOW COULD HE DARE?

Maybe, in another timeline, she'd go about how she was truly an evil final boss and successfully jinxed the inferior-non-Omega-Tech cannons. But here? Style was the only thing that mattered. And this wannabe cool guy was taking all the glory now for himself! He didn't even have his support cat with him! HMPF.

"Unforgivable..." She summoned another pair of glasses, just to crash em in her hands. "ABSOLUTELY UNFORGIVABLE!" She yelled out. "OMEGA DOES NOT ALLOW YOU THIRD-GRADE WALNUT TO HOG THIS ALL FOR YOU ALONE! BUY YOUR OWN PAIR, YOU CHEAPSKATE!" Of course, Trevis likely couldn't even hear her.

"Oh my Omega, Omega's going to rake in so much dosh if these things hit it off..."

"Stupid bug, shut up!" Omega murmured as Cynna's mom-protection-aura kept the fledging Final Boss alive and secure. The bug was now just of secondary concern. She had somewhat lost interest. Instead, following her now evil corporate-capitalistic plans!

"If everybody gets to be cool. No one is." She gave it a nod, as her eyes scanned the battlefield. "You, you, and you!" Picking her targets, Omega closed her eyes as she composed, and summoned, once again. Their stylish shape. A singular form. A small Omega logo and a heroic orange. Dreaming that one day, she'd battle an entire hero party of Omega-Glasses-wearing heroes.

Thus, three glasses were floating beside her. Carried by sheer Magia-Supremacy™ Technology, before firing off and setting themselves on the faces off:

"Omega Glasses give Omega Style! One size. One color. Fitting all!"
@Caelia Etterni

umc9y9j.png

"Omega Glasses are Omega Solid! Yes, they're also fireproof."
@Sean Poteitoku

Of course, the three would already be buffed by rule-of-cool. As they were still unique enough. But apart from that, they did provide them with iVision™, showing various statistics and readings to help them better navigate the battlefield!

Gosh, Omega felt so exhausted and beaten now! Marketing seemed fun, for the time being, but a lot harder than becoming Terrasphere's Final Boss.
