It was good to be reassured, at least for someone like MAI. Never certain of anything, it provided an anchor that she could hold onto. A rope that helped her stay above the water's surface and keep her from drowning. And, of course, she wanted to learn more about Kyanna as well. Though, one thing she did know about the girl... well, it didn't seem to apply right now, but perhaps it would still be appreciated?

"Um... Kyanna decided to wear a different kind of outfit today... but normally she plays the role of a witch... and witches normally have companions, so... this unit tried to make one."

With the newly created space between them, as Kyanna moved slightly back, the magia placed her hands on her own lap, palms facing upward. Soon after, astral mana started radiating upward to create a small ball that looked like a bundle of space energy, full of stars and galaxies. However, it did not take long before the ball popped.

From within hopped out a small mechanical owl, its wings coated in the very same astral energy. Letting out a few hoots, it quickly looked up at Kyanna and tilted its head to the side, flapping its wings.

Kyanna nodded slowly at MAI's words, wondering where the other wished to go with those statements, albeit the mention of a companion vaguely gave her the idea of what the magia probably had prepared for her... Despite not knowing what exactly or how.

The motions of the magia made Kyanna pause, looking at it as her head tilted and curiosity prickled her mind.

Her eyes went up to MAI's eyes and down at the sphere, that slowly materialized the owl construct, that brought sparkles to Kyanna's eyes that resembled the starry center of the spheres. A half gasp escaped her lips, and she looked at every delicate movement the small magitech creature had. "It is... It is so adorable, Mai..." She said, reaching her hand closely, and the small construct twitched, moving as naturally as an owl would be, albeit it still had its clicking and 'robotic' staggering, as one would expect from something akin to a clockwork.

Picking it up proved to be a bit difficult, since Kyanna initially tried to hold it as a toy, making it flap its wings and peck her finger harmlessly.

Kyanna giggled. "Sorry, sorry..." She apologized, placing a hand under its feet, allowing it to hop on it while she rose it close to her chest, using her other hand to cup it and brush its starry wings, making it hoot quietly while its eyes closed with a click.

"I loved it, Mai. It is so cute..." Kyanna smiled warmly to the magia, leaning in once again, this time kissing her cheek as a reward, before leaning back and looking at the small creature fondly.

"What is it name?"

A smile adorned the magia's face when Kyanna's reaction became apparent. Pets were a responsibility, but this one was rather low maintenance compared to those of flesh and blood, so she hoped that the witch wouldn't be intimidated by owning a mechanical owl. At the same time, she wasn't even sure if it would be to her liking, but her words indicated that all was well on that front.

Its metallic body might have been a bit cold to the touch, but its wings were... nothing short of unexpected to the touch, for lack of a better term. They looked metallic under the blanket of space that coated them, yet they were fully flexible like real feathers and very soft to the touch. The astral energy would slowly creep up one's fingers if they were to stroke them for long enough, bringing forth a slight warmth, though quickly dissipating if the fingers were removed.

All in all, it did behave like a normal owl would, though very friendly and loyal to its owner. That didn't mean it couldn't be trained further if Kyanna so wished. And as it functioned by absorbing ambient mana just like magias did, there was never any worry that it would stop working. And if there, for whatever reason, was no mana to be had, it still could absorb it directly from other people who'd be willing or from its emergency battery inside that could last it for at least a solid month.

A gift MAI put a lot of thought into, making her all the more worried that it would not be accepted until it was. And the gift she received in return, a soft kiss on her cheek, left her somewhat frozen in place, rose red returning to her artificial skin.

"Name... there isn't one yet. The gift is for you, so I thought it would be better if you chose one."

Kyanna paused, pondering a bit about it while glancing down the mechanical owl, that didn't stop to bring a smile upon her lips every time she saw it. If the task of naming it was upon her, Kyanna started putting the gears of her mind to work, clicking and running at full speed while she sank herself in thoughts, gently patting the owl as she swayed her head.

"Owl names... Owl names... It is a witch owl... so maybe something magic-ish, like Merlin? Merlin is cute!" Kyanna chirped, then pausing, fidgeting her feet as it tapped on the ground before she perked up. "Or maybe Beakson? Beakson is a bit funny, isn't it? Beakson!" She giggled, looking at the owl that thankfully didn't seem to care that much about names.

The witch's gaze, however, trailed on her wings, letting it linger for a moment in the starry aspect it had, peering over to the sky, then back at MAI, at her colourful hair and then eyes before smiling.

"How about Noctua? Like, Noctua, the constellation." She asked, looking at the magia fondly.

MAI observed Kyanna's playful attitude with a smile. It was, in its own right, almost criminally adorable. Going from almost what you could expect, to a bit silly, to the unexpected. She managed to strike all of the categories, perhaps without even trying. The last name, in particular, had the magia surprised.

"Observation - So Kyanna knows these kinds of things as well."

The mythical constellation of the night owl, Noctua. Perhaps with such a name, it could officially return to the night skies. What an amusing thought that was. Of course, this one would remain by Kyanna's side, no matter what. MAI nodded.

"They are beautiful names. Noctua, the starlit owl... I am sure it will do its best to keep its owner happy, no matter what."

Just like MAI, who, too, wanted to make Kyanna happy whenever she could. Even if she would blunder sometimes, like not too long ago, she would still try nonetheless.

Kyanna half opened her mouth at MAI's question, closing it and looking at the magia for a moment, before leaning in and muttering- "Only the interesting parts." She giggled with a wink, scooting closer and resting her head on MAI's shoulder once again, keeping the owl craddled between the two, caressing it gently and glancing at the town on the horizon, bathed by a soon that would be gone in a an hour at most.

"Noctua it is then... our lovely owl..." Kyanna said, with her lips perking up in a big grin, just as she closed her eyes and continued to brush the bird's artificial plumage, strumming her fingers in it, and allowing herself to close her eyes while she enjoyed the closeness of her friend and the brand new gift she had given her.

Humming, Kyanna simply enjoyed the rest of her time, but eventually, despite the sun hitting on her face, her body became heavier as it relaxed, and everything soon became quieter and darker, until she was no longer awake.

'Our lovely owl'... it seemed that Kyanna already spoke as if the two of them were newlyweds. It made MAI blush a bit, but thankfully, Kyanna already had her eyes closed. It was yet another peaceful moment, with stars already slightly visible up above despite the sun still illuminating the skies and the land alike. She just couldn't help but let her own head rest on the witch's.

"Only the interesting parts..."

She repeated after the raven-haired girl and fell into a bit of a thought for a moment.

"Proposal - This unit could try to teach Kyanna a bit more about the stars... and the universe they reside in. If Kyanna would like that, of course."

She was well aware that it wasn't a suitable topic for everyone, but Kyanna seemed like she was at least partly interested. At least that was the impression MAI got after all the discussions they had, and after the witch accepted two separate gifts that, in some way, portrayed to the starry sky now.

And it wasn't long before the beautiful starry sky would be fully visible above them, bringing forth its beauty for all to witness.
