Sand-covered beach
A natural wonder

As the horizon stretched, seemingly into infinity, the girl simply could not avert her gaze. Without a single cloud in the skies, a beautiful blue hue painting the view, the still water sparkled as if it was full of gems waiting for someone to pick them up. Only the smallest of waves would paint their shapes onto the sand, Fina feeling her feet slowly sink into the delicate material. A feeling entirely new and unlike anything she had felt until now, despite heeding the advice of the one who welcomed her into this world and often walking bare of any footwear.

Squatting down, she simply could not help her tail as it slowly drew shapes in the sand with its movement, as excited as she was. At first, she was reluctant to visit the beach as she figured there would be little excitement to be found here. If it was to have an adventure, the west seemed to be the place to go instead, perhaps even the north if she felt like braving the dangers of a crystal-covered land. Yet, when she finally decided to explore the coast, she had discovered its many beauties rather quickly.

The cool breeze from the sea washed over her, exhaustion from the heat fading away. With the water wetting her feet, it was all too pleasant to pass up on. But even as the girl would stand back up and walk a few steps forward, she'd be stopped. Her body might have gotten acclimated to the temperature, but one big problem prevented her from going any further - she knew not how to swim. Of course, renting a boat was always an option, but that was something else entirely!

Back in the physical world, her condition had prevented her from ever being able to learn how to stay afloat the same way most people would. The rare few occasions on which she visited things like pools or aqua parks were all under strict supervision, with swimming rings keeping her above the water's surface. She needed none of that here, in a world that gave her a body that could move like any other's, if not better. What she lacked, however, was a teacher. If she simply leaped into the waters and tried to thrash her limbs about to see what would happen, things could turn dire in mere moments.

And so, for the time being, the feline would be content simply walking alongside the beach, leaving footprints in the wet sand with each new step, head turned to the side and gaze fixated on the endless horizon which promised so much that she could not even imagine it all. There was a kind of beauty that no landmass could ever offer, a sort of primal desire to explore the place from which ancient life came. Surely, she would be able to dive into this primordial cradle yet?

It was perhaps unusual for Cleo to be by the coast, but as boats sailed and players were ferried out to look for rare loot in the seas, or to simply attempt to fight sea monsters that were around, she considered it her duty to make sure that nobody had bitten off more than they could chew. Of course, she'd modified her usual outfit for the ocean and beach, that is to say, she wasn't wearing her usual outfit at all. Instead, it had been traded for a red and purple bikini, with a piece of cloth tied around her hips.

After disembarking from a boat that was carrying herself and some new players back to shore, she waved a goodbye to the players that she'd just rescued from being dragged to the bottom of the ocean after swimming out too far, a happy smile on her face as she watched the man and woman embrace one another.

Though it left her with nothing to do, so she decided to embark on a walk along the beach, bare feet crunching into the sand as she walked, no real destination in mind. The sight of a familiar feline changed that, however, and she beelined straight for Fina, smiling.

Fina! What a surprise to see you here!

Mesmerized by the ocean's beauty, the girl did not even look where she was going. It was the familiar voice that cried out, finally bringing the feline back to her senses as she snapped into place, both feet firmly digging into the wet sand as she looked straight ahead and the distant figure quickly growing closer and closer. There was no mistaking the voice, but the beautiful form that emerged left absolutely no doubt as to who the girl managed to bump into. “Cleo..?” A surprise indeed. She had not expected to see a familiar soul in a place such as this.

The sight was, however, a welcomed one. A slight blush brushed against Fina's cheeks as her eyes measured the crimson-haired woman from head to toe, especially noting her choice of attire and just how form-fitting it was. “Nice to see you. Here to take a load off?” She couldn't think of another reason as to why someone like Cleo would be here in such an outfit, a lovely nice digital vacation. Though, in all honesty, maybe that outfit wasn't even all that much more revealing than Fina's own?

Perishing the thought, she tried to regain some of her composure and close the distance between the two of them. “I guess even the world of TerraSphere can sometimes feel small. I didn't even know there was a place like this until I finally decided to visit, I would never have thought I'd find you here. Or anyone else, for that matter. But I guess this might actually be a pretty popular spot for the Starcalled to visit, huh?” She was finally getting used to the game's terminology, slowly abandoning the usual vocabulary of things like ‘players’ or ‘NPCs’. It made conversing with some of the residents of this game much easier.

It certainly was a pleasant surprise to run into Fina like this, one that had Cleo beaming, a bright smile on her face, though she noticed that Fina's cheeks were turning pink as the girl looked the agent up and down. It was quite adorable that Fina still blushed when the girl saw her so underdressed, considering the amount of time they'd spent around one another. Plus, the feline's regular clothes showed off almost as much skin and Cleo's swimsuit was showing off now!

I just got done helping out some newbies that swam out too far and got attacked by something. I guess I can add lifeguard to my resume now, since the waters are now safe to swim in.

She grinned as Fine go closer, wrapping her arms around her friend in a short, close hug. Fina was starting to adapt to the terminology that the residents of this world used, which was interesting to note.

It's pretty popular here, yeah. Though it is still a coincidence to run into you. You don't mind having some company for a while, do you?

Perhaps Fina was truly getting better at accepting affection from other people, as the sudden hug barely took her back. Though she was reluctant to embrace Cleo back for a moment, given that the other girl was basically half-naked in her swimsuit and they were in a public place. Thankfully she realized that being dressed as they were and still hugging was perfectly fine.

"I see. You really are amazing, huh? Being able to do all of this stuff to help others…" The feline figured that she would never be able to help those in need like that. She never got the chance either, so she had no point of reference. That said, the two girls were here together now, so they might as well make the best of it.

"I don't mind at all! I didn't really have any plans anyway. I just wanted to see this place with my own eyes, explore around a bit… didn't think the sea would captivate me as much as it did." As she admitted this, she glanced at the vastness next to them again. She might have not even experienced any of it yet, but somehow she felt like she could understand why some people would spend most of their lives out there, on the water.

The hesitation from Fina to hug back made Cleo giggle, shaking her head, though she smiled when Fina finally did hug her back. For some reason, it seemed like the girl was impressed with her reasons for being here, helping out people. Cleo rubbed at the back of her neck, shaking her head and giving Fina a soft pat on the top of her head, scratching behind her ears.

I just happened to be around and heard their cries for help, so I got a boat owner to row me out so that I could rescue them. It wasn't all that special of a thing to do.

Though at the very least, Fina was happy for her to stick around and hang out with her. Apparently the feline was pretty captivated by the ocean and the coastline. Knowning now what she knew about Fina's real life situation, that did make a lot of sense.

The beach is pretty nice, yes. Though not nearly as captivating as the catgirl in my arms~

"It still sounds impressive to me." The girl rebutted. There was very little Cleo could do to make herself no longer impressive in the feline's eyes. And reaching for Fina's head to pat her and scratch those ears again certainly was not one of those things. "Hnn— again—!" She wasn't complaining, but she was still worried about maybe getting a bit *too* used to her ears being played with like that.

Her eyes shut tight, and her smile curled a little as she was assaulted by both physical pleasure from Cleo's hand and the praise, eventually making her try to get some distance between the two of them. "It-it's pretty hot here, so if we stick too close, we might overheat..!" Choosing that to be her excuse, Fina would avert her gaze briefly and cover her rosy cheeks with a hand as she attempted to regain her cool and calm down.

"I mean, I don't even think there is much I can do here aside from staying on the beach. So even your willingness to go out there and help others in such an environment is something awe-inspiring." Once again, she tried to reinforce just how much of a hero Cleo was to many. Regardless of the woman's intentions and end goals, she was still helping others in tough situations, and that was admirable.

It was always amusing to see Fina's reaction to having her animal parts petted and scratched, though she didn't linger for too long with her hand on Fina's head. Just enough to let Fina's smile curl and her eyes close, until Fina put some distance between the two of them.

Hahaha, that's fair enough, yes. We wouldn't want you to get hotter than you normally are~

Though she decided to allow Fina to recover her composure and cool down, smirking all the while as the girl decided to lavish her with praise, though something Fina said caught her attention.

Only staying on the beach. Do you perhaps not know how to swim?

She gave Fina a warm smile, trying reassure Fina that she wasn't trying to upset or offend her. She placed a hand on Fina's shoulder and gave it a small squeeze.

If you can't, would you like me to teach you how to swim?

Having a moment of peace, it didn't take Fina long to fully regain her composure and fully narrow her posture. And while she expected a little bit more teasing, she got something else - an offer to be taught how to swim. "Well, of course, I don't know how to. I can't really learn how to swim outside of the game since keeping yourself afloat with just your hands is far too exhausting." The part about always having a swimming ring when she got into deep water, she kept to herself, lest she would open herself up to even more teasing.

As for the offer itself, it made her think for a brief moment. Though perhaps that was not anything to think about. "I… suppose that would come in handy, yeah…" Looking back at the sea, her eyes reflected the sparkling water clearly. Could she really learn how to swim? Well, she learned how to walk, how to spring, how to kick even. So then, there was no reason why she could not learn how to swim! It would allow her to go into the water and enjoy herself even more… and perhaps, she could then also visit some of the islands around here, see what those were about as well!

Yeah, there was very little reason for her to refuse Cleo's kind offer. "Then I will be in your care." She nodded as she accepted. She had no idea where they would even start with something like that, and whether she could figure it out in just one day, but she was certainly eager to try!

Well, she now knew what she would be doing today, when it came to light that, yes, Fina didn't know how to swim and would accept the offer to learn how to swim from Cleo. Honestly, Cleo was excited. She'd never been able to teach somebody a skill such as how to swim, before. She placed her hand on the small of Fina's back, smiling to herself as she looked out to the sea alongside Fina.

Okay then! Follow me and we'll get started with your swimming lessons immediately, if you're comfortable swimming in what you're wearing?

She took Fina's hand and began to pull the girl towards the ocean, pulling her until they were wading into the water, up to Cleo's belly. Fina was only very slightly shorter than she was, so it was about at the same line on both of them.

Okay, first thing to know about swimming is that it's a lot of kicking your legs underneath you.

The crimson lancer certainly seemed rather eager, already trying to lead Fina over to slightly deeper water. She did so even as she asked a question and didn't quite wait for an answer, perhaps expecting an affirmation that it was indeed fine. That said, the feline paused for a brief moment. "Ah—" as she realized that she did, in fact, not have a swimsuit of her own. And while her clothes were almost as revealing as one, they were not exactly made with the same purpose in mind. "You're right, this might not be the best…"

As the doubts crept up, she stopped just as the water reached her thighs. Only a little bit further, and her shorts would end up wet. This was a bit of a conundrum as the girl never even considered buying new armor. She got this one very early on from a shop as she was guided through the city by the person who picked her up as she started the game. In essence, it was starting gear that was simply reinforced and upgraded to keep up with the rest of the girl's stats. "I'm, uh… not sure if these clothes could handle salty water."

Seeing that Fina had stopped just as the water was reaching her thighs, Cleo stopped with her, turning to see what was the matter, only for Fina to mention that she wasn't sure her clothes were made for saltwater. It was a fair concern, one that had Cleo a little confused, wondering what she could do to help the girl out, though only one thing came to mind.

Well, we could always just go without the clothes, then. It'd be a bit of a pain to find somewhere selling swimsuits now, but I don't mind losing my own swimsuit to join you in the water.

She offered to take her own swimsuit off, that she might be able to make Fina feel more comfortable with the idea of taking her own clothes off. She didn't want to scare off the girl when learning to swim was such an important skill to learn!

To make such a suggestion without as much as blinking, Cleo truly was a terrifying woman. With her rosy cheeks displayed once more, Fina stared at the other woman with a slightly narrowed gaze for a moment before she looked away and started moving her hand about, indicating she was working at something in her menu. "It's… fine. You don't have to do that at all…" Then, as if someone had snapped their fingers and cast a magic spell, the feline's clothes dematerialized as she unequipped everything and stored it in her inventory.

Despite the water feeling cold due to her body not being acclimated to it yet, she would hurry up to get far enough until the water was indeed around her belly, though she did still try to cover herself somewhat with her hands. It'd probably take a moment for her embarrassment to fade away, especially since this beach wasn't private in any way… she could only hope that no passerby would suddenly have their day brightened by such a fantastic view.

"R-right, kicking. I can do kicking." She tried to repeat after Cleo from before, though it was a bit hard to imagine while her feet were still firmly planted in the sand below the water's surface.

Well, even if she didn't have to do that, she wanted to make sure that Fina was as comfortable as possible, so as Fina's clothes dematerialized, Cleo's own swimsuit faded away as she stored it into her inventory and moved to join Fina as the girl began to wade out deeper and deeper, until it was around her belly. Both women held their hands to cover themselves at least partially. Hearing that Fina was stuttering, she reached a hand out to press it against Fina's shoulder, giving another comforting squeeze to the girl.

We're gonna head deeper, but I'll be right alongside you, helping you swim and stay afloat.

She wrapped an arm very loosely around Fina's waist, before gently guiding the cat girl deeper into the ocean, until her feet would begin to leave the floor.

Now keep kicking your feet and tread the water with your arms too, to stay afloat. I'll be right here, just yell my name if you feel like you're going to sink.

The fact that Cleo chose to ditch her own clothes as well might have ended up more distracting than comforting to Fina, but at least the other woman stayed behind the feline so her body would not play too much of a distraction unless the girl turned around. "Right…" Affirming the reassurance, the girl would continue walking further and further, her body shivering a bit due to the cold water, but the longer they took, the warmer everything seemed to be.

Once the water level was around Fina's shoulders, the girl stopped. From here, she could only try to swim as Cleo had suggested. She had seen other people swim in the physical world, so she at least had some idea of how she should move around. Taking a long 'step' forward, the cat would find herself in a spot where she could no longer reach the floor. But just as she was told, she kept moving her legs in a motion somewhat similar to a run.

At least she already knew, at least partly, how to move her hands. With long strokes, she was definitely keeping herself above water. Though she felt that if she kept at this, she would run out of energy way faster than if she knew exactly how to go about this.

Once Fina was treading water, Cleo kept an eye on the girl's form, noticing quickly that she was kicking her legs as if she was running. That was pretty common amongst people that were new to swimming, or at least, it was in Cleo's experiences with such people. As such, it was the first thing she would address, since treading water was the most important skill one could have, when it came to swimming. She wanted to at least make sure that Fina could tread for hours.

You don't have to kick so quickly and with so much force, Fina. Kick slower, moving your legs longer and with much more graceful motions.

She smiled, stepping so that she needed to tread water and demonstrating how she wanted Fina to move, before she moved back to a spot where she could stand and be ready to grab Fina in case the girl began to sink.

A handy thing to remember is that, if you're ever getting tired, take a deep breath in and lay on your back. Your body should be naturally buoyant enough to float for a while.

Kicking away, Fina tried to keep herself afloat while also trying to understand what Cleo was saying. The sound of splashing water made it slightly more difficult, but her feline ears still twitched and listened attentively. "R-right!" Doing her best to follow the example without being too distracted, Fina would start slowing down. Though it was surprisingly difficult. It was as if her body was afraid of sinking, so she had to fight against herself for a bit before she could comfortably slow down and start kicking the water more efficiently.

"I… I think it's working?" She was really just hovering in place, and she didn't quite want to try out the thing that Cleo suggested, considering what part of her body would probably bounce up above the water's surface if she just floated on her back like that. The idea even made the girl sink a tiny bit and start blowing some bubbles from beneath the water's surface.

Seeing Fina slowly getting it, slowly making her movements slower and more efficient, made Cleo's heart swell with a kind of pride, the agent smiling as she watched Fina treading water and hovering in place, grinning at the sight of it all. Though she did slightly panic when she saw Fina sinking a little bit and blowing bubbles from underneath the water's surface, quickly using a hand to push Fina up so that her head was above the water completely and therefor allowed the girl to breathe and relax a bit.

Careful with sinking. You always wanna make sure your mouth is above the water if you can avoid it, especially in saltwater.

She smiled, deciding to give Fina just a little bit longer to adapt to treading water and giving the feline a chance to really get used to it all. She wanted the girl to try floating, but she had a decent idea why Fina wasn't going to do it.

Don't worry if you try floating. Only I can see you properly and I've seen all of you plenty enough. And I can cover you if there's anybody close enough on the beach that might be able to make things out.

Though Fina might have submerged a bit on purpose, it was quite surprised when she was suddenly pulled back up. Cleo really was keeping an eye on her, huh? Well, she should expect nothing less from a person like that. If she was willing to save strangers, then she was doubly eager to save her friends whenever she could. "R-right, sorry." The feline remarked as she kept treading, her eyes open a bit wider now.

With each moment past that, the treading of water became easier and easier. As her mind grew more reassured that she would not just sink down into the depths, her body would relax as well. With less tension in her muscles, the energy expended on the activity lowered as well. "Starting to get… the hang of it..!"

That said, Cleo still insisted that Fina should try letting the water carry her for at least a moment. And while the two girls were definitely quite familiar with each other's body, it somehow did not make it any less embarrassing for the girl. "Hnng—" But she relented, trying to lean back to float without having to use her limbs at all. Sure enough, the position was a bit… compromising.

She hadn't even considered the idea that Fina was sinking on purpose, instead having attributed it to the girl getting tired or caught up in her own thoughts, so for Cleo, it hadn't even been a matter of thinking. Her body had moved before she had a chance to think, already fishing Fina out of the water so that she could breathe properly and keep herself safe.

Though with Fina safe, even though she hadn't actually been in any danger to begin with, Cleo could relax a bit as Fina began to get the hang of things more and more, her body relaxing and easing the tension, causing the motions to become smoother and require less energy.

Though as Fina laid on her back, the two very important and prominent globes began to float to the top, so Cleo did the chivalrous thing and stood so that her own body was covering sight of Fina's chest, even though her own eyes stared at Fina's chest for a moment, before she turned her attention to the way Fina floated.

Deep breaths in, hold them for a bit, then release. You'll feel yourself sink a little when you release the breath, but when you breath in again, you'll float more again. You should never go under, as long as you're calm.
