What happened between the daring dive into the randomizing of her character and feeling the unfamiliar sensation of overgrown grass against her arms was beyond her recollection. The moment she joined the game, everything had gone so dark, and even as she clutched the grass at her sides and sat up, that same darkness remained with a mild sensation of vertigo as her body felt what her eyes did not. All the hallmarks of a fantastical wilderness blatantly advertised around the girl couldn't necessarily clue her in as to what was going on.

Everything was pitch dark to her in the bright day around her. She moved her head this way and that slowly to try and alleviate the nausea that accompanied her every movement but saw no fruition. Or... anything. The truth of the matter was far too jarring for her to understand, so she figured that she must be in yet another room, with no light within. With at least a fictional grasp on her situation she called out to her surroundings.

"Can... anybody hear me?!" She started to call out quietly at first, but realized that the only way to be heard was, fittingly, to be heard.

It wasn't as though she could see her own UI, but that didn't mean others couldn't, right? A newly starcalled traveler, the girl's in-game name was marked 'Azykia', and reeked thusly of random generation.

Out of the blackness, a figure began to wander closer, cloaked in many different colors of magic and mystery. A deep purple, a bright white, a fiery red, a calming blue, and a pure yellow. As the newcomer called out, the figure would turn and approach curiously.

Celestine blinked a few times, as she noticed the girl standing there whispering to herself; her body swaying in the strange way that sailors did when they first walked on land after a long sea journey. It was peculiar, but it all started to make sense as she caught sight of the beginner tunic: something most discarded quickly. Maybe the girl’s character was way different than her real body?

"Hello, are you the new person?" Celestine waved as she left the road and approached the girl standing in the clearing. "You look like you are doing yourself a sick… Are you the okay?" She reached out a hand and held the newbie’s shoulder to steady her.

It didn't take even as long as being called out to for Azykia to notice the figure walking closer, though it wasn't quite the figure that she saw. It was the morphing of different bright colors, in some cases being so potent as to make her squint harshly until she finally looked down and covered her eyes.

She couldn't quite put this mass of colors to any distinguishable shape yet. It was there, off in some direction so dizzying to stare at that she couldn't quite convince herself that the voice that called out to her was the aurora growing... closer? More intense was probably more accurate to how she perceived it at the moment. Through her figurative spell of confusion she called back in response. "I think something's wrong with me!" She seemed just a bit too desperate to measure how far away the person speaking to her had been on volume alone.

Celestine leapt back in shock as the new girl exclaimed her fears out loud. "W-what…!?" It was kind of hard to believe. After all, new-body shock was a pretty common thing for newbies, as far as Celestine knew. Even so, she felt the need to treat her concerns more seriously, if for no other reason than to calm the panic!

"Okay, okay, I, uhm… What’s wrong? I mean— ahem, what is doing you the wrongness?" Whoops. She‘d pretend that didn’t just happen.

Stepping forward, Celestine held out her hand, which began to glow with a bright holy light. It flowed from her core, up her arm, to her hand, and out to surround Azykia with a calm, smoothing aura. It surrounded her: poking, probing, seeking out anything wrong to fix, and ultimately finding nothing.

…most of this remained invisible to Celestine though. She simply stood there with her outstretched hand toward the new girl: at best she could see only the glow on her hand.

"Is this doing you the better…?"

At first, Celestine's holy magic reaching out to her so suddenly did the opposite of what was intended. Indeed, it visibly distressed her as she opened her eyes to a thick wreath of pure light flowing around her. Azykia pulled away and tried to crawl back at first, but since she was so slow to see it wrapped around her in the first place, the woman's question crossed her just as quickly as she had begun to panic. This in turn caused the calm and soothing aura to be understood as help, not danger.

"I don't... think so? Who-" Her eyes trailed over to the admittedly still difficult to look at aberration of a light show now in front of her. "What are you?" There was discomfort in her tone, at least in how clearly she was pronouncing each letter. Her consonants were sharp, as though she demanded to be understood. At the same time, her posture, position, and expression showed a different form of discomfort. Rather than seeking answers, the new arrival was also equally terrified of what those answers might be. Her eyes were in so much pain. What was she even looking at? Did she want to know?

Celestine frowned as the girl backed away from her help like a frightened animal (albeit a very dignified frightened animal). Cel lowered her hand, letting the holy magic retreat back into her core. Why was she so afraid? She’d heard of newbie legs, but this was just ridiculous

"What do you mean by the ‘What am I…?’" Celestine answered, genuinely confused. "I am just being myself the normal human," she glanced over her frightened friend, "…like you." She was human, right? She was almost small enough to be a faerin though… just not quite "stout" enough.

"Oh, are my hair illusions doing you a scare? Here…" some of the white magic retreated back to her core again. To Celestine, her hair turned from a dazzling nova of light, to simple black hair… not that she could observe the change well without a mirror. "I like to do it a fancy with my illusions, so I can be having myself the astrologer theme."

She held her hand out, offering a handshake. "I am Celestine. You are a new, yes?"

... A normal human?

That wasn't anything near what she had expected the response to be, not that she was about to complain. As soon as those fanciful hair illusions were retracted, her squinted eyes opened in full again almost reflexively. It was easy to see that perhaps those illusions were the source of the pain after all. "Celestine?"

What did she mean by a-

And then she suddenly caught a grasp of the situation. "Is this... Terrasphere?" She tried to look herself over to little avail, then went back to looking in the general direction of the woman in front of her. As she placed her own hands in her lap, it seemed as though she wasn't one for handshakes. Actually, it seemed more like she totally ignored it.

"I think there's something wrong with my vision. Most everything is just pitch black." She took a deep breath through her nose, still trying to calm down from what was admittedly an embarrassing little panic attack.

Celestine tilted her head inquisitively as her retracted illusions seemed to calm the girl. Were her illusions really that bright? Hm. Maybe she should tone it down a bit…

Cel waited with her hand awkwardly extended, while the girl mere shifted around and asked questions. She smiled as best she could and slooowly retracted it, coughing softly from the shame of the mild rejection.

Azykia asked a strange question, and Celestine shook her head.

"Uhm… no, this is Celestine. Terrasphere is the world… and the game." Given her slip up from earlier, it was hard to believe Celestine actually made that mistake for real, but she played the part like an expert performer, appearing honestly confused by the question.

If that was a fake confusion, however, the next question was genuinely baffling. She was blind? Celestine had never heard of that before, aside from people who’d had their eyes messed up. Spawning in with it though? Huh…

"Most everything…? What is not the black then? Can you do anything the see? What about the seeing of the menus?" Celestine took the girl’s hand and helped her perform the motion to open the palm menu. Close hand; open hand. "Do this a try and see if you are seeing the menu bubbles."

Azykia flinched as her hand was grabbed all of a sudden, but surely her inability to see would be fixed momentarily. As she was aided along, she felt something vibrate gently in her palm. "Mh... Well I did feel a something, but I'm not seeing any menu bubbles." She joked, or mocked, depending on your point of view. It was equally likely for her youthful voice to seem playful or spiteful as she currently threw it around without being used to it. "I could see a bunch of different colors before, and... the 'hair illusions' as you called it were painfully bright." She frowned a bit. "Is this a visual b- glitch?" She corrected before she could give this Celestine person the chance to say something about how it had nothing to do with insects of any sort.

Celestine didn’t notice any menu bubbles, but that was expected: players couldn’t see other player’s menus. Instead, she noticed her blind friend’s reaction to her interactions with it. Yep: it was definitely open. Wait, was she mocking her speech? Eh, it was probably just her doing an imagination.

However, as she continued speaking, Celestine slowly began to understand what was going on here. "Ooohhhh, you are doing yourself a magic sight? A magic sight!? I have not been meeting the people with the sight before…" She hadn’t met many people with that trait at all actually! Probably because it sounded horrible.

Then, an idea came to her mind! Suddenly, Celestine’s illusion magic expanded out from her, drawing glowing outlines of the ground and the grass above it, the trees surrounding them with the canopy of leaves above, and the gravely road off to the side.

One typically created illusions of falsehoods: false lights, false people, false objects. She’d never thought of using illusion magic to show reality, exactly as it already was. Who would’ve thought. Celestine felt her energy draining, but it was hard to tell if it was actually working: after all, everything looked the exact same as it was before to her.

"Is this doing you a help at all, or am I having the sound of a crazy?"

Azykia shielded her eyes from the lights of the world unfurling around her in a layer of powerful magic, but as it thinned about the area, it became less like a screen reflecting the sun in her eyes and more like being at the ocean with the waves glimmering just bright enough to not be painful to everybody there.

She took her time looking around at everything. She even twisted this way and that as needed to see more of the world behind her. The newbie looked absolutely mystified. "... Magic... sight?"

"Whatever you're doing, I can see... everything, yet it's... all the same color." She gave this response as promptly as possible, almost like her doctor had asked it of her, but the next words out of her mouth were more or less a whisper. "Really beautiful, though..."

As extravagant as this moment seemed to be, she knew she couldn't revel in it forever. As it stood, she barely knew who she was at the moment. She didn't know what she looked like, what skills she had, or even what her name was in-game. She had to put the wonderland moment on pause and look to the general direction of the illusionist for answers. She waved her hand over the menu buttons.

"So how do I close this? I don't want to accidentally click on something while I'm trying to stand up." Her face began to warm over with embarrassment, but she tried to pay it no mind for the time being. When she first got to this world, she wanted to start an entirely new life from whatever default the world had set for her. She hadn't anticipated she would be given such surprise by it that her chance to introduce herself as a totally different person than the real world would pass by immediately. It was kind of a bummer.

Maybe she could pay this woman off and ask her to forget the two ever met once this was all figured out. It probably wouldn't be that easy, but it was optimism at where she could get it.

From the way the girl was glancing around and focusing in on specific objects, Celestine could tell right away it worked. Although, just for curiosity's sake, she created the illusion of a large knight statue in the middle of the clearing. From the way the blind girl's eyes settled on it, Celestine figured she was now fully convinced that the statue was actually there.

...that wasn't possible to abuse at all.

Nope.

There was something really endearing with the way she was staring in wonder at what basically was just a small clearing of grass and trees, though. Sure, it was a pretty forest setting, but it wasn't exactly otherworldly.

"Sure, you just do a--" Celestine paused a brief moment as she noticed the girl's face grow a faint pink. Shaking her head, she tried to ignore it. "Just do your hand another fist. Although, before you do it the close..."

Celestine conjured a little bubble right by where she figured the log-out button should be.

"This one is the log out. It always does itself the appears by your thumb. If you do one the remember, it should be that one." Celestine smiled, before realizing that smiles were kinda useless here. She'd stick with it, though, if only for herself. "Did you do a decide of the name, or are you still doing your character a think?"

She tried to use the illusory visual aid and feel out the button that should be there, and even succeeded at it gently vibrated against her fingertips as she hovered over it with them. "Log out? I guess that makes sense."

A character name? Well she just kind of hit random on that as well. With no actual clue what her character's name was nor having a name already planned, she shook her head. "It's... less that I'm doing my character a think, and more-" She stammered for a couple seconds as she realized this Celestine woman's way of talking was starting to become contagious to her, causing the girl to become only more flustered. "Wha- It- I- The-"

"I-I never planned to decide on a name in the first place! I was supposed to look at it in the menu when I loaded in."

She let out an exasperated sigh, speaking a lot more quietly now. It did wonders in making her seem less snappy, especially in contrast to her nervous responses prior. "I just sort of... hit random and dove in without double checking anything. That was the kind of experience I was looking for." She finally closed her fist and began to stand up.

"What's THIS? Is that a sad girl-cough-cough--" A voice could be barely heard from afar. It was loud and bold, up until it exhausted itself through what sounded like the exertion of running. She could hear the man catch his breath even as he continued to run. The rhythmic pounding of his footsteps grew louder, as if the catch in his voice did naught to so much as break his stride.

"That can't seem to-wheeze--? No need to fear, for THE GUY is... here! Almost here! Just a minute..!" How long would that voice of his go on and on? The rhythmic thumping grew closer and closer, yet she had yet to see the person in question. The scent of rich earth upturned through strong footsteps reached her nose, but the offender still failed to reach her sight.

Where was he?

Right in front of her, from the sound of his next words, "Sorry about that, miss. I've been on a marathon run! Did you need help with picking a name? THE GUY is here to help!" He exclaimed, perhaps shockingly to the girl who had yet to find where he is. According to her senses, he seemed to be right in front of her... and yet he wasn't. There was not even a gap in the environment in which the man stood. He truly was the most inconsequential kind of presence, similar to a normal worker who sat in one of her stock market meetings and said nothing of value-yes, like those faceless guys.

One final cough preceded a deep and clear breath. The whistling of air could be felt near her skin-did this guy just point a finger at her, or was he posing?
As @Celestine could see, he was posing like a clown right now-that is to say, a completely exhausted man who had a hand to a knee as he caught his breath, the other pointing towards the young girl in question. He nodded towards her, as if saying 'hello' without using any more of his precious breath.

"A name, hmm... Well, chica, if I were to say... You look like an Azutheos! How's that sound to you?!"

Not great, that was for sure.

Celestine giggled lightly as her speech pattern fell on the girl's own tongue. Not the first time it'd happened, and she hoped it wouldn't be the last, because it was funny every time. Every. Time.

"Oh. That is the unfortuna--" she was about to say, but her mouth hung open for a moment as the sound of someone approaching struck her ear. Very loud clanking of metal boots, from the sound of it. "Hm." She waited, expecting someone to arrive... and waited more... and more...

"Uhm..." she'd just continue anyway, assuming he'd meant someone else: "So that is a--" Finally, he arrived! Strong-looking, armored, unassuming, yet bold in his word.

"...Wait the minute... you did yourself the name of... 'THE GUY?'" she exclaimed it as gutturally as possible with her soft voice, figuring it was the sort of name(?) which could only properly be shouted and not spoken.

She murmured more quietly as he continued, "Are you sure you are of the best to be doing an advice here...?"

...His suggestion answered the question pretty quickly. "Uhm... well... I guess it is up to her to do a decide. That is..... doing a suggestion, yes."

As the man neared, she distinguished two things quickly as she tried to listen to Celestine, twice. Firstly, she was onto something when magic sight was suggested. She didn't even remotely see this man that sounded as though he was right in front of her, yet she was very clearly able to see the magic-laced environment with ease. Secondly though was that this man was a total ponce! She even opened her mouth to tell him so. After all, running up to two people talking and interjecting from so far away was undeniably a rude thing to do.

At least, that was her first instinct, but she silenced herself. At first for one reason, then another, and another.

For starters, she had no idea who this man was and couldn't even see if he was actually friendly or some sort of bandit who thought himself funny who was now holding a knife to her neck. Just because Celestine didn't seem to panic didn't mean she was in a secure position either. She had no idea what Celestine could do aside from help her see the general area in the first place, so maybe that kind of situation was just as threatening to her as it was to Azykia.

Even if it were safe for her to respond to this GUY however she intended to, another reason came to mind. Isn't the point of this game for her to live a different life? Doesn't that mean there's room to be less of a stiff stick about everything? By holding back one insult, she could forever change the way these two people viewed her, and the fear of running into them again after this made that invaluable.

She had other reasons aligning in her thoughts as well, but there was little need to go into any of them. She looked up slightly and a little to the side of where the man was in order to get it across as subtly as possible that she was blind as she also answered his question. "I think Azu... whatever you said is too long." She pursed her lips in thought momentarily. "Something shorter like Azzy, or something, would be easier for someone like me." Finally she looked at Celestine again. "Celestine is a pretty name. Do you have any ideas?" She put her hands together behind her back.

"Yes!" Nod, nod, goes his responsive head as it says, "Azzy works, so I'd go with that. It's good to keep a shorthanded callsign even if you have something longer later on." It appears that the man had caught his breath, now beginning to stretch after the long run.

"You have my apologies for running past, girlie. I was on the way to see a friend, you see, when I saw the star-called light fall close to where I said we would meet up. I wanted to make sure nobody got smashed by a falling rock while waiting for me!" Glancing towards the fading crater he added, "It seems I had little to worry about. It's good that nobody was hurt... It would be safe to assume that the two of you are players as well, then, to be asking about your names so simply?"

His thumb pointed straight to his chest. "As you know, I'm THE GUY! Don't wear it out if you can help. You can call me Antonio if it starts getting old. If you couldn't tell, there's a lot of bad names out here like mine. Whatever you choose'll probably sound better on the tongue than THE GUY! No need stress about it, yeah? It'll come to you when it does."

Celestine was initially skeptical about this-- err... THE guy, but as he kept speaking, she found him surprisingly approachable. If a bit dorky.

Like she was one to talk...

Noticing the new girl's eyes venturing a bit too far off to the side, Celestine conjured a giant, yellow arrow illusion above the man's head, just to help out a bit. This much illusion magic was getting a bit tiring though... well, whatever, it was good practice.

She nodded as THE GUY explained his arrival. "Oh, I am seeing! I-- erm...!! No offense...!" The weird way she'd said it made that especially bad sounding, yikes.

...

She moved on.

"Azzy is of the cute~! It is sounding more of the nickname, though. Maybe it is a short for Azelia? Azure? Azykia? Azumaril?" She paused for a moment, letting the names sink in as potential options. "Do one of you have more of the suggests? It is like naming the new baby: excitements! We will be making her the perfect child~" Celestine wrapped her arm around her in a friendly manner, squeezing her close in an awkward shoulder hug.

The youngest of the trio looked to the arrow as it was spawned, then to below it. She could only surmise that this was more magical manipulation trying to show her where something was. This time, obviously THE GUY in question, with how high up the arrow was. Actually, it begged the question.

How tall am I?

Well, in a fantasy land, it wasn't strange to think that people could be a lot taller on average, or even that she just happened to meet two really tall people. Her priorities fell back to the barrage of names.

Azelia was basically the name of a flower, which was just as boring as a name like Iris, Rose, or something as blatant as Maple. Azure was of course the primary color of the edgelord pride flag if there were one (often tagged out with Crimson). Azumaril was a little over the top- Actually, wasn't that the name of a Pokemon? She was hardly capable of identifying Pikachu, but she was fairly certain Azumaril sounded like some sort of fantasy animal name, and an animal she was not.

"Azykia. Azykia. Azykia. Azykia. Azykia." She tested this name aloud with different inflections, trying to face the indecision she felt internally with it. Unlike each other proposition, she had no active reason to dislike the name other than she had never heard it before. But then, that is what makes for a unique name, isn't it? This was a world of fantasy. Why search for baby name ideas on the internet when you could suddenly just make up new, more interesting ones?

"I think... Azykia might not be too bad." The girl brought a knuckle gently to her lips and looked off to her left. "I might still prefer nicknames, though..." Interesting or not, it was difficult to just straight up rename yourself without feeling 100% about it, and so far Azykia felt about a simmering 83%. At least she felt something, and that made the mostly blind girl smile.

There was a long moment of quiet as the unnamed girl appeared to deliberate the names in her mind. From the expressions she was making, it didn’t look to good, but then she began to speak one aloud.

"Azykia…" Cel repeated it with her. She shrugged. "Well, you can be doing it some thinks later. I will speak you ‘Azzy’ for now though."

Celestine pat her on the head a few times with a smile. It was, perhaps, the greatest hint that she’d ever receive— short of asking directly —that Azzy was, indeed, very small. If she knew Celestine much, she’d also know that Celestine loooved cute small things, but that hint would obviously have to stay unknown.

"Well, if you are wanting to do a further explore, I can be you the escort. I am a capable, so you should not be having the worries of the muggings and the thiefs and the wolfs." The little hat floating over her head tipped itself proudly, which Azzy was actually able to see, given how saturated in magic it was.
